Refugio Para el Amor #100 Mon 8/27/12 Rivals in Love and in Business Lock Horns Inside and Outside of the Courtroom

In San Francisco el Alto (aka, Het Het), the ladies and Ariche have just excitedly received a package from Don Serapio via Procopio. Luci opens it, reads the nice note, and unwraps the gift-- finding a lovely framed picture of her and Rod from their civil wedding in Het Het. They look incredibly happy and in love.
Luci is stunned. Ariche takes the photo and comments on how beautiful she looks and asks if she remembers when they took this photo. Luci stumbles off to her room and poor Ariche is worried that he said something wrong. Paz calms his worries.

At Nicole’s salon, Nicole is asking Vicky for an update on her tangled love life. Vicky admits that she’s scared of her Osito who won’t let her go, and she only sees two options: 1) Dump him and take the risk of him doing something to her father or her; or 2) Act like a crazy woman to make him dump her. How would she do that? Well, make it so that his wife finds out, through an anonymous message... Nicole thinks this would be really dangerous (and she doesn’t even know how crazy Rosa La Loca is), but Vicky thinks keeping Max as a lover is even more dangerous.  She assures Nicole that she can’t even imagine how dangerous he is.

The Taco Boys are back on their corner, this time with two bikes and two baskets (that ought to tick Rosa off!). Business is so good that they think they need bigger baskets to hold more tacos. Lorenzo looks a little down and it’s easy for Fabian to guess the reason—Hannah.  Fabian advises him to forget about her. First, because she has a boyfriend; and second, because she’s beyond the reach of his expectations. Lorenzo half heartedly agrees.

Meanwhile, his lady love is home in bed with a bad cold, while Mati tends to her. Mati tells Hannah how on edge Mama Rosa is because of the trial, but they’ve had no updates yet. Hannah says that after having gotten to know Lic. Linares, she knows he’s a good person and doesn’t believe he would commit fraud or try to harm her father. Mati believes the same.

In her office, where she hardly ever works, Gala makes an appointment with the TL architect to meet her at the apartment later to make the plans to convert Rod the Bod’s gym to a baby nursery. This is, of course, done without consulting Rod. Valentina and even Fernanda are surprised. Valentina, the voice of reason, says that Gala’s moving awfully fast. How about the baby stay in the same room as her in the beginning so that Gala can tend to it—at least that’s what Vale’s mama did when her little brother was born. Gala is NOT having that. She’s not losing her beauty sleep for that brat. She’ll contract a night and day nurse to care for the poor tyke’s needs 24/7. Gala then tries to call Rod, and despite knowing that he’s at the trial, throws a fit that he won’t answer her calls—she’s his WIFE! Valentina tries to preach patience and understanding, which gets her thrown out of Gala’s office.

In court, Max is trying to kill Claudio with brainwaves and glares; Oscar is looking worried; and Barerra and Claudio look confident that justice is on their side. The judge reviews the evidence that has been handed to him, then decides to call a 30 minute recess to further review the documents.  Max hisses to Oscar that Claudio must have fabricated all his evidence (showing he was in another country, vacationing with his wife and doing all kinds of documented activities with her at the same time money was being moved around to his account). Oscar finds it hard to believe that CL could have done that. Max tells him he doesn’t know Linares!  (No. Who he doesn’t really know is Max!)

Hannah heads to the kitchen for some juice, as Frigida looks on. Frigida seems to think what ails Hannah is not a cold (gripa) but a hangover, and proceeds to fix her a disgusting remedy consisting of orange juice, raw eggs (juevos crudos), vanilla and liquor. All Hannah has to do is grab (agarrar) her nose and chug it down. Hannah wisely refuses to drink it, so Frigida chugs it herself.

Ariche goes to check on Luci in her room and begs her not to cry. He asks if he made her cry. She tells him she’s crying for this love she has in her heart for Mushashon.  She can’t stop thinking about him and wants to be with him all the time. Cupid Ariche says he’ll call Rod for her if she wants; he’ll tell him to come, that Luci wants to see him, and that he should stay here with them. Luci tells him that Rod isn’t coming back, and she needs to learn to live without him. Ariche replies that Mushashon promised him he’d always care for Luci.

In the hallway outside the courtroom, Rod is using the recess to pester Melissa. If she isn’t with his father, then she’s against him!  She tells her blockhead cousin to not judge people without knowing them. He doesn’t know CL. Rod counters that he does indeed know CL (the middle aged bastard who stole his woman from him).  Pato tells Rod to calm the hell down, and repeats Melissa’s advice to not judge without first knowing a person, which is what happened between him and Luciana. (Oh snap!)  Rod chooses to ignore this zinger, and gets on Melissa’s case some more about being on Linares’ side. Even Aldo joins him questioning his sister. Pato, the only man with sense in that family, tells Melissa that he respects her decision because he knows her and that she’s always defended her convictions.  But he does have a question—why has she stopped coming to the house?  Melissa tells him to ask his mama and walks back over to Team Linares.

Rosa interrupts Connie’s work in the library to freak out about not yet having news about the trial. Connie tells her to calm the hell down (we see where Rod inherited his hysterical traits), which has the usual effect—NO effect. Rosa’s not buying Connie’s excuse that CL has a right to fight to clear his name. Rosa knows that what he wants is Torreslanda dinero. Connie does not believe that this is CL’s intention.  Anyways, he has his own fortune that he wasn’t able to touch all the years he was in the pokey. Rosa says that the business is way bigger now than it was when he was jailed, so surely he’ll want a piece of that big pie, but Connie points out that the business was begun/founded with CL’s money. Rosa doesn’t want to hear it. She's anguished just thinking that Max could lose part of their moolah to CL. Plus, why should CL get any when he has his own family fortune in Spain? Connie says that’s great, but he lost all the money he had here in good old Mexico (the money invested in the company).  Rosa says if he wants to prove his innocence, well then let him do it and then go far, far away with his daughter and leave us in peace! Hannah walks in on the tail end of this conversation. “Claudio Linares has a daughter mama? Didn’t his daughter die with his wife?” (Oh sh!t look on Rosa’s face.) Hannah demands an answer, but Rosa comes up with some lame lie that CL has another daughter, and then adds another notch to her sin card by saying it’s the God’s honest truth. Hannah doesn’t look like she believes that for a minute. Connie throws her hands up in the air, grabs her laptop, and gets the heck out of Dodge before Hannah can ask her any questions.

Court is once again called into session and everyone heads in except Oscar and Max. Max doesn’t want to waste any more time on this. “Time is money!” He asks Oscar if he got all the personal contact info of the jurors as he asked. Oscar looks uncomfortable and confirms he has. As soon as they leave court today, Max wants Oscar to call each one of them and offer them each a million pesos to decide in his favor! Oscar tries to argue with him and worries that he might lose his law license, but Max is not having it. He thinks it’s a way better investment to lose a few million pesos, than what he might lose if CL wins.  Oscar keeps arguing with him about this all the way back into the courtroom, but Max ups the ante by saying he wants to bribe the judge too!  10 million pesos!

In Het Het, Paz has contracted Luci’s blues. At times she thinks her daughter’s tears will last forever. Magda says it will be a long while, but it won’t be forever. (Uhm, isn’t that what Sabina the Geriatric Witch said? Pay attention ladies!) Paz says that the news of Rod marrying that bad woman who is expecting his child just finished the job of breaking Luci’s heart. She feels so sad and powerless seeing her daughter like this. Magda tells Paz to look at it this way—isn’t it better for Luci to be here with them going through this pain, than back there suffering alone with those horrible Torreslandas? Paz points out that Pato isn’t like that. He’s good and generous. Magda agrees. Looks like Paz and Magda might be silently wishing Luci had fallen for another TL other than Rod.

Back in court, Pato (the good and generous) says to his lame-brained bro that although Rod may not like it, everything points to CL’s innocence.  Blockhead says that’s up to the judge (and by the judge, he means himself). The real judge bangs his gavel and presents the items of evidence that he has accepted to the jurors: A) The bank video showing someone other than CL making the transfers; B) All of CL’s travel documents from the time, when he was traveling with his wife through Prague; and C) CL’s credit and debit bills from his travels, showing two purchases made in Prague on the same day and practically the same hour as the fraud in Germany was happening. Rod continues to make angry side comments to Pato, this time about that traitor Melissa. The judge asks if the CL Team has more evidence to present. Yep, they do. They have proof that CL’s signature was forged on the money transfer documents. The judge wants to see it, NOW! Everyone looks worried.

Back at Casa TL, Frigida is once again putting the squeeze on Julie to pay her the money she’s owed. Julie wonders, why the distrust?  Frigida says it’s not distrust (desconfianza), just prevention. Julie will have Gala take care of it, which makes Frigida happy since she doesn’t like playing the role of bill collector (cobradora). And anyway, she’d like to start working in Casa Gala-Rodrigo. Julie says she’ll pass the suggestion on to Gala, then reminds Frigida that she’s a servant-- there to do things like serve her drinks, hint, hint. Frigida gets up to comply, but reminds Julie that they’re partners in crime.

In the library, Hannah is still fruitlessly trying to get honest answers out of Mama MentiRosa. Wasn’t she close friends with Aurora Linares? Then why does she speak about Aurora the way she does, with such anger? Rosa deflects by saying they have bigger things to worry about like the current Linares vs. Torreslanda case. Hannah knows, but she wants answers, like why did Rosa go to the police station to make a complaint about Lorenzo. “Me???”  Rosa denies, denies, denies. Hannah says of course it was Rosa. “And you, how do you know? Have you continued seeing that nobody (el fulano ese)?” Hannah points out that Aldo is Lorenzo’s friend and easily found out. Well, Rosa’s just going to have to convince her sister to follow her great example of meddling in the lives of her grown children, to prevent Aldo hanging with riff raff. Hannah asks the question again, and this time Rosa tells the truth and admits she did it. “I’m not going to permit my neighborhood to become an open air market (tianguis)!” Hannah looks her mama right in her crazy eyes and says she will never change and she doesn’t believe her. Mati interrupts to say Julie is here to see her. Rosa coldly dismisses Hannah.

Outside the TL gates, Hannah’s two suitors have pulled up on their very different steeds—Lorenzo on his trusty bike, and Boris in his p*ss yellow car, accompanied by Lula who heads right into the house. Lorenzo is first at the gate and takes off once he sees Boris. Too late. Boorish Boris is already out of his car and ready to rumble. He grabs Lor’s bike and asks what Lor has going with Hannah and what he’s doing there. Lor says he knows Hannah is sick and wanted to see how she was doing. “This is the last time I’m telling you. Stay away from Hannah!”  Lor tries to defuse the situation by saying that he’s not pursuing Hannah, but Boris isn’t listening. He’s seen the way he looks and smiles at her. Lor is tired of this little yappy dog biting at his ankles, so he throws the bike down and faces him. Boris says next time he sees Lor approaching Hannah, Lor will have to gather up his teeth from the side of the road/gully (barranca). Lor throws down his hat and reciprocates the threat. Boris pushes him and lunges for him, but Lor gets the better of him and gives him a left jab to the ribs, followed by multiple blows to the gut and face; Boris follows up with a right hook to Lor’s face; Lor kicks Boris’ leg and he goes down. A cop rides up on his bike and puts an end to it before anyone really does lose teeth. He threatens to take them down to the jail so that they can turn this into a cage fight. The boys stand down and Lor grabs his bike and goes. Boris finally goes through the gate. Lula is at that moment speaking to Hannah about their upcoming school group project and Hannah’s assigned section. Hannah asks who brought her, and then wonders where he is when Lula says Boris. Boris comes huffing into the room, with a fat, bruised lip. Hannah and Lula want to know what happened. He lies and says he ran into his car door. He then gets irate at Hannah and says they just came to tell her what she owes them as part of their group project, then he huffs his way back out the door. (Good riddance!) Lula runs after him.

Elsewhere in Casa TL, Julie is commiserating with Rosa about how worried she is about the trial.
J: It’s going to affect OUR family. Independent of the scandal, just imagine what will happen to OUR fortune!
R: Our fortune?
J: Of course. OUR fortune Roselena.
R: What do you mean by that Julie?
J: It’s perfectly clear. What’s going to happen if they declare Linares innocent? If the judge decides to give him half of OUR fortune? It could end US! (Julie clearly is not getting it that what Rosa objects to is the use of “our” to describe the TL fortune.)
Rosa gets up and says that nothing is going to happen to the TL fortune. Julie tries to push Rosa’s buttons some more by telling her to not pretend like she hasn’t thought about the possibility.

At Estelita’s, Fabian, Ofelia and Marianita are headed out to the market to get taco supplies, when Lor comes in looking shame faced. Fabian plays stern dad when he sees Lor’s bruised face and asks what happened and where was he. But Fabian already knows what happened. “I already told you. She’s way out of your league.”  He leaves with the girls, leaving Lor to get a lecture from Estelita about not disappointing his mama by brawling in the streets. Lor hangs his head in shame. Estelita must get her medical tips from 1950s sitcoms, because she grabs a piece of raw meat from the fridge and slaps it on Lor’s bruised face. (Yuck!)  She asks why the fight. He says it’s because that guy is jealous for no reason. Estelita reminds him what happened to his sister at the hands of that family.

In court, CL’s team has up on the screen images of the signature pages of the bank documents to prove they were forged. Oscar is arguing to throw out the use of this evidence since they don’t have the original bank documents for up close examination, and instead only have pictures of them. (Remember CL snapped pics of the docs when he was investigating in Germany.) The photos could have been manipulated! CL says that he personally took the photo of the original docs. Now Max wants to get his two cents in and jumps up and rants that if CL could betray him after all their years of friendship and defraud the company, then of course he’s capable of falsifying this evidence! Oscar is looking at Mad Max like he’s crazy. Now CL gets up in Max’s face, and it’s our second round of antler bashing for the night. What CL lacks in height, he makes up for in passion, and he tells Max to quit the charade and stop pretending! Their two teams have to pull them apart before they come to blows. The judge bangs his gavel and demands order in the court! Pato takes it all in, with a look of growing understanding. The judge finally gets everyone’s attention. “Conduct yourselves (comportarse) in the manner becoming the level of these circumstances!”  One more outburst and he’ll order them to be detained. The court bailiff helps encourage everyone back to their seats. The judge then decides to reject the images of the signatures as proof. (Boo!) CL requests time to have the original documents sent from the bank in Germany. Oscar objects, but the judge accepts CL’s petition since this evidence was not given in the original trial. The original documents will be admitted and a handwriting analysis will be done. (Yay!) They will continue the proceedings in 48 hours. Max looks like he’s been shaken and stirred. CL and Barerra are smiling from ear to ear.

Outside the court, the press is clamoring for answers. Oscar leads them away saying the proceedings have not yet ended. The rest of Team TL remains at the top of the court steps.

In Het Het, the Gossip Girls are bugging Copio about the town ghost and think that Don Aquiles can protect them from it by putting together a watch party to catch the ghost, and then they can exorcise it. Copio says Aquiles will send them packing if they ask him such a silly thing.

Out and about, Luci and Ariche run into Doña Lucha, who is still pining for Don Aquiles. Ariche advises her to find another boyfriend. What Luchita will do is take a long vacation (and get some new merchandise) leaving her stall in the hands of one of the other ladies in the market. She’s going to diversify!  She explains this new big word to Ariche—it’s like having everything. Well, little Ariche thinks that means Luci will be able to find whatever toys she needs for HER BABY! The Gossip Girls' radar must have been on high alert because they are poking their heads around the corner just as Ariche says this. They then hear Luci confirm the news to Luchita—“Felicidades mamacita!” Ariche and Lucha are pleased as punch. Luci doesn’t look thrilled to have her news out in the open. The GGs run right to Aquiles with the news, of course. Aquiles has to sit down from the shock. (By the way, for those who asked, Don A’s business is called Abastecedora “El Rey”—abastecedora means suppliers.)

Back in the house, Luci’s painting pots, and Paz and Magda are wrapping and packing the ones that have already been decorated. Paz insists that she and Magda will take on the extra work needed to help Luci finish her big ceramics order. Paz doesn’t want Luci to overdo it while she’s pregnant. Luci thinks her baby will be well behaved since it hasn’t given her any troubles (lata) so far. Magda says just wait till it starts kicking!  Ariche answers the knock at the door. “Valgame Dios! Otra vez!”  Aquiles comes in to talk to Luci, and the ladies and Ariche assume the position—lined up, arms crossed, eyes blazing. Luci wonders why he can’t understand that they want nothing to do with him. He says he’s just come to put himself at her orders. He knows she’s expecting a little one (chamaco), and since she no longer has a husband, he’s here for whatever she needs. (The big guy looks pretty sincere.) Magda calls him a buttinsky. Aquiles remains somber and says he wants to speak to Luci alone, without Magda there. Luci approaches him and gently tells him they have nothing to speak about and asks him politely to leave.  Aquiles repeats that he wants to help and protect her, and that he’s willing to adopt the little one as his and give him his name.  Luci is shocked and confused. She tells him this isn’t the right moment, and she’ll speak to him another time. He tells her to think about it and mentions how nice a last name Trueba is. He leaves, and Luci wonders if he’ll ever understand one day (that she wants nothing to do with him). Magda wants to go speak to him, because he WILL hear her!  Little man Ariche seconds that emotion. “Bien dicho Magda!”

Back on the court steps, CL’s team exits. Max pounces on CL and tries to intimidate him into dropping the case—he tells CL his efforts are all in vain. CL wonders if Max is scared. “You all took my daughter, and I’ve gotten her back. Now I want to take back my name and my honor!” The two men face off and commence an intense stare down.

Avances: Pato thinks CL might be innocent. Rosa La Loca barges into court to testify on her husband’s behalf. New evidence that could change the course of the trial is rushed in. The jury has come to a decision! What will it be?

Vivi thanks so much for your recap. Great picture capture.

It's so much fun watching Pato assess the trial and all the players. His question to Melissa and her answer (as well as her slap down of Dodo) we know sent his mind reeling. At this point I've given up on the Witless Wonder saying anything sensible.

Poor Oscar is in for a shock. He thinks Max is willing to play to win what is rightfully his BUT I hope he starts realizing an innocent person would not act like that.

Hannah, please dump Boris now.

Based on the preview, if Rosa comes to trial w/some new lie, I hope CL's team reveals WHY she's not a credible witness. One of the scenes I look forward to is to see the dunce's face when its revealed CL's is Luci's father.

Hey Karen- I echo you advice to Hannah. Boris started out as annoying, but still likeable, but now he's insufferable! He's a mini version of Rod-- completely blinded by jealousy and making an ass out of himself.

Speaking of the NimRod, I am so waiting for him to find out how wrong he is about everything and starts to use his brain.

Vivi, thanks once again, terrific recap.

Doesn't Max's dream team understand that if you are innocent you do not need to bribe the judge and jury.

I LOL when Lurch sat down to have a little chat with Julie - just like they were BBF.

I do hope that Rosa shows her crazy side to everyone tomorrow. She could be comic relief except she is so evil.

I think if I were Val I would just keep going the next time Gagme kicked me out. Why does she put up the with abuse.

Rosemary Primera

Great work.

Oscar should look for a new job immediately. His life will be in danger shortly around Max.

Don Aquiles still creeps me out.

Julie had some damn nerve. Our money, indeed. I wonder if she's related to Tia MentiRosa of LQNPA.

Vivi-- thank you so much for this wonderful recap. You always capture the best of the epi's. I agree with everyone about Max. I really hope they find CL innocent of this trumped up crime. I worry for Oscar though. Bribing a judge and jury are serious offenses. (By the way love the judge in this case, he was lovely as Doc Oc in UFCS) but so great here.

Boris needs to go. What an asshat. He and Lula would make a terrific couple. Can't stand the way Boris is acting. I am glad Lorenzo gave him what for. Wonderful to put him in his place.

What are we going to do with Rod the Bod? He won't beleive anyone. It's too bad he doesn't know the truth about CL and Luci. I hope when he finally finds out he will realize what an asshat he was.

Those Chisme Ladies are a hoot. Always getting the good gossip. It's a wonder that they aren't on Don A's payroll. They get way more info than Copio. I like that Dona Luchita is going to diversify. I just wish she would give up on Don A.

Now Don A was a surprise, no bluster, no pushing, just down to earth and more of a gentleman I have to say. Even Luci responded well to him. I don't like the things he has done in the past in ref to Luci, but I think here he was sincere.

Vivi- loved your phrase of brainwaves and glares for CL and Max. So true. I hope Max gets what is coming to him, especially as far as the fraud goes, but with Vicky too. He has abused that poor girl.

I thought Hanna would figure out who her loca mama was talking about. I think she would have but she's sick. She is good at putting two and two together, unlike her dim bulb brother. So enjoyed the la loca being caught in her lies. Loved how the Champagne Queen is revealing her true colors with "our fortunes", lol. Rosa sure cut her off right quick.

Loving Pato, he is the voice of reason along with Valentina. Valentina ought to come over to team Luci. I think if she knew everything Gagme pulled, I think she would. I think Pato will figure out what is going on, way before Dim bulb will.

Wonder what "evidence" the la loca has for tomorrow. I really hope the Judge tells her to sit down and shut the hell up. I like the face they show in the previews with her looking like she is catching flies, jus' sayin' lol.

Great great work Vivi. Loved the 'Max looks shaken and stirred' and also '
Blockhead says that’s up to the judge (and by the judge, he means himself). '
Pato continues to be the voice or silent voice of reason...
Lorenzo telling Boris if Boris plans to plant Lore's teeth on the bench, Lorenzo will dig Boris' little bones (huesitos) on the ground...
could not believe that when Oscar said 'all that is left is for you to ask me to bribe the judge!' Max responded 'thought you had already done it! offer him 10 Million!'

Totally agree Jana was right to pass on Frigida's 'cocktail' and also to give her mother some grief about Claudio's daughter...
I too agree she should dump Boris. Let Lula handle him.

Luci was awesome turning Don Aquiles around... even though i have a feeling he is being honest in offering help this time.

can you all imagine if RosaE is allowed in the stand? Claudio would have a FIELD DAY with her!!

yes Julie was totally whacko and RosaE's face as Julie kept repeating 'OUR fortune' was priceless.

LOVED Melissa just sending Rod (or was it Pato?) to ask 'your mother' for answers as to why she does not come by the house anymore. That it was RosaE's story to tell. you go Melissa!!

Madelaine,
about Jana's ... She is good at putting two and two together, unlike her dim bulb brother...
if it were Pato he would definitely have figured it out...
that would explain:
Rosa's deep hatred for Claudio
Rosa's deep hatred for Luci
Rosa's wanting Luci as far away from Rod as possible.

As always Vivi, wonderful recap and detail. Am enjoying the events of this TN, and some of the interesting little twists constantly thrown in.

Who knew Don A could be so endearing? I believe he really meant and was visibly affected by the news of the bebe. Almost felt sorry for him....almost.

Who I didn't feel sorry for--Dumbass and his corrupt dear old dad. If someone ran in and screamed CL had brought little green men down from Mars to destroy the world, the dunderhead would believe it. He may have to go thru hell with Gala to win Luci, but dang, he's always going to be a dunce and airhead. We know who will be the brains in that family.

Totally agree Rosemary--Oscar should be thinking twice why Max is willing to bribe jurors. Is that worth losing your license, and your lady-love over as well?

I woould like to officially welcome Paz and Magda to our "We Love Pato" club and will be sending them a tee soon. We all wonder why the fates threw Luci and Dumbass together. And again, you can actually see Pato taking in the events, the reactions and he knows things are not right. Plus he knows Melissa--who gave one of the better zingers last night.

I hope Rosa embarrasses the daylights out of herself and actually helps win CL his innocence. I would love to see the news on Luci/Cl to come out too, but that means Dumbass will be running to Luci. That will get Her Supreme Bitchiness and La Loca in destroy Luci mode. TN rule--one good event leads to several nasty ones until we get to the end.

Claudio could really grind her on the witness stand. I hope he thought 5 steps ahead and has documentation of her kidnapping of Luci. The recording in the cemetery should do quite nicely.

Vivi, excellent title and the recap was extraordinary in terms of content, detail, word choice and embedded vocabulary.

"adds another notch to her sin card" was my favorite line of many.

I'm enjoying Pato tremendously (along with everyone else it seems". He is watching and analyzing and is coming to the only fair, logical conclusion: Max is guilty.

Warning sirens (not bells) should be going off in Oscar's brain. Bribing? As Karen noted, an innocent person need not resort to such lengths.

"Our" money Julie?? Julie is attractive (albeit cruel and lazy). I still haven't figured out why she has hitched herself to the Gala "money train" instead of trying to find someone on her own??

Vivi, another sensational recap.

Diana

Julie doesn't want to be attached to one man. However, she hasn't gotten that to avoid that she has to make her own money.

daisynjay,
totally LOVED your last paragraph..
Rosa embarrassing herself by helping Claudio's case... priceless!
and also '...Her Supreme Bitchiness and La Loca in destroy Luci mode. TN rule--one good event leads to several nasty ones until we get to the end. ' perfect!!

Morning Ladies! Great comments everyone.

Rosemary and Daisynjay- I also really hope that Rosa lets her crazy flag fly in court and makes a fool of herself in public. The advances makes it looks like we’ll get our wish. 

Urban- LOL. Julie was showing shades of Tia MentiRosa from LQNPA. I had to laugh at her gall. I don’t even think Tia was so open about her imaginary claim on Rogelio’s money.

Mads- The actor that plays the judge always plays a doctor or judge or someone with authority. I loved him as Doc Oc in Familia too. Such a sweet character. Here he looks stern, but fair.
Don A surprised me too. The only other time he has looked so sincere was when he surprised Luci at the D.F. apartment, bringing her that rose and offering to rescue her from the hell that was D.F.

Marta- Thanks for adding Lorenzo’s colorful threats back to Boris. That was good.

Mads, Marta, and Daisynjay- I also thought that Luci handled Don A well. He’s never going to have her, but I have hope that perhaps their antagonist relationship can develop into one of mutual respect. If he could let go of this creepy idea of her being his wife, then he could be a good protector and ally. We have already seen his willingness not to hurt her via the D.F. B/Witches.

Daisynjay- “If someone ran in and screamed CL had brought little green men down from Mars to destroy the world, the dunderhead would believe it.” How true. His IQ points were steadily going down as the episode continued.

He, more than his other two siblings, will be the most devastated when he finds out the truth about all that his parents have done to ruin CL’s life (baby Luci and the fraud), since he’s the only one who hasn’t already started asking questions. Both Hannah and Pato having been asking questions and coming to logical conclusions for a long time. The two of them were the first to really question why Rosa would be reacting negatively to Luci because she looks like Aurora Linares. And now, they both are coming to the conclusion that CL is innocent based on their observations of him.

ITA with you Daisynjay and Rosemary about Oscar needing to ask why Max is so eager to bribe the judge and jurors if he knows CL is guilty and if he has nothing to hide.

Diana and Urban- Yep, it’s way less work for Julie to ride on the coattails of Gala’s lucrative marriage than to have to maintain her own marriage (plus it wouldn’t be so easy to slut around). I bet she’s glad Gala’s dad is dead. He was probably some old well to do geezer, but she’s burned through that cash. Now it’s time for her “investment” (Gala) to start paying out.

The actor playing Max tickles me. When he's trying to look evil, he simply squints, and in other cases when he's trying to look mad, I'm not sure if he's just stiffling a grin. Thanks for the recap V.
Yola.

Wow Vivi, loved your recap. My favorite part was Max trying to kill CL with brainwaves and glares. Poor Oscar is beginning to discover Max is not for real.Bribe a judge when your are innocent indeed. Wonder what that will do to the relationship. Pato must be frustrated by his family a lot. Big bro always speaks before he thinks. Mama and Papa are both toxic. I believe Don A feels guilty about Luci. He did help in ruining her marriage, even if it was unintentional. Giving her baby a name is the least he can do. what will be great is come out and tell on Gala and mummy dearest. Everybody suspects but no one has laid it all out. Why oh why is Val friends with these fiends. One always prays that our kids don't end up with the Galas of this world. Her truth telling gets her nowhere, so why come back for more abuse?
Thanks Marta for yesterday's recap. It was great. Madelaine thank God for your husband's recovery, and Vivi stay blessed.

I wish I knew the writers of this TN personally... I really want to slap them for writing Rod so stupid! Seriously... can you please give a small brain soon please! Because I love him and I hate loving stupid people.

Now, I am a happily married woman and am only interested in the likes of men, but have you all noticed how smokin hot Melissa is in that outfit. Good Gravy! If my arse looked like that in a skirt it'd be in one every day!

Back to the writers... they have made the trial look childish. Seriously... I'm not sure how else to say it. The writing is stupid for this part of the novela.

I love all the facial expressions given by these characters. My husband and I mimic them constantly throughout the day. Max & Rosa are my favorites with Pato a close third. I know y'all love Pato & I do too, but he looks like he trying to pass a kidney stone half the time. But I do love him...

Boris... please go away, please.

Great recap, Vivi. I am so happy b/c even though DEAD TO ME is an absolute idiot, the TN is moving along really nicely. Can't wait to see Rosa barge into the courtroom tomorrow. She is a total whacko!! Promises to be outlandish!

The other day someone referred to Boris as Dumbass in Training and that he is. He has no real reason to suspect Jana and Lor of anything but he does. He also doesn't get that Lorenzo has repeatedly said he understands and respects that Jana has a novio and he wouldn't do anything to rock the boat.

Aha another one of Rosa's children with a brain in her head. It won't be long before Jana figures out that Claudio couldn't possibly have another daughter. I want her to tell Pato what she heard and that smart boy will figure it all out. Like a lot of us i too am waiting for the day that DimRod learns both the truth about Claudio and then about his parents.

I thought the Julie Rosa discussion of Our Fortuna was hilarious. Julie has no limits and plows on even when Rosa is giving her that raised eyebrow sneer she has perfected. She did backtrack a little and drag Gagme in as a member of the family. I'm just surprised Julie hasn't hustled off to a lawyer to change her own name to Torreslanda.

I have to hand it to Oscar if within a few hours he managed to dig up personal info on all the jurors. Must have had everyone at the firm on Google duty. If at this point he hasn't figured out that dear Max is guilty I'm wondering how he ever got a law degree. I'm just praying that no bribes are taken and that both Max and cCaudio get what they deserve. I do thing it will be interesting to see if Rosa can weave another web of lies and while under oath. Maybe even Rod might get a glimpse of what a she devil she is. Oops forgot he is too gullible to even consider something that doesn't fit his preconceived ideas.

VIVI---Thank you for a GREAT recap. GREAT as usual.

I have heard it said many times that Mexico runs on bribes at every level. Yes of course Max Will do what ever it takes including bribes to win. Poor Oscar, he's in a bind.

Question---I always thought that pottery had to be fired in a kiln to complete the process but I don't see this happening here. Am I missing something?
the gringo

Although it was very sweet of Don Aquiles- he even KNOCKED this time- to want to help Luci and the baby, what is this nonsense about wanting to give the baby a name. It has a name: Chamaco Jacinto Flores. It's a perfectly good name (except maybe for the Chamaco part).

Kelly

Gringo- Just found this:

"Mexican pottery clay is a special type of clay with a reddish-brown hue. This type of clay is different than other types of clay in that it doesn't have to be fired after it's shaped. Objects made from Mexican pottery clay simply need to air-dry. Because of this, it's a great clay for people who don't have access to kilns and other pottery-making supplies."

"Chamaco Jacinto Flores" LOL Kelly. :)

Actually, now that Luci knows her true origins, the baby's name might be quite complicated, plus I think Rod will absolutely want his kid to have his name once he finds out. Perhaps: Chamaco/a Torreslanda-Linares-Jancinto (Flores gets dropped because it's his mother maternal last name.)

I thought it was interesting that we learned that CL's family fortune is in Spain. I wonder how recently the Linares came over from Spain or if he's first generation Mexican, and maybe that explains why he's all alone in Mexico?

Wow Vivi. Super recap. And with a photo to boot. On my last assignment I posted photos, but I've given that up. Too time-consuming and nerve-wracking (for me). But appreciate it since THAT photo was indeed a key part of the episode last night.

Others have mentioned this but I too loved "Max trying to kill Claudio with brainwaves and glares". The facial contortions of Max and the ridiculous mutterings of Rodrigo seem waaaay over the top. And VERY glad that Oscar is resisting bribing anybody, although I agree with el Gringo that bribery is the way business is done in Latin countries. Had to laugh when Walmart got in trouble because honestly, "when in Rome..." but evidently our government didn't see it that way.

My other fave (well, among many) was describing Boris' car as "p*ss yellow". Shoot, I rather liked the color of his car, but now that I think...

Anyway, great recap as always, with some wonderful research on Mexican pottery and excellent embedded vocabulary. You do it all, lady.

Yeah Judy and Gringo- It may seem shocking to us that Oscar isn't totally flipping out over Max asking him to bribe the jury, but that's the way things get done there-- even if you're innocent.

By the way, in such a hurry to read the recap, missed your fine title. Excellent!

VIVI---Thanks for the pottery information, I didn't know that.

I hope as we all do that Oscar doesn't cave into Max and offer the bribes. He's skating on thin ice.
the gringo

Gringo- You're welcome. I just learned about it too when I looked it up. I had thought about it before when I saw Luci making her pots, but would then forget about it, so I'm glad you asked and reminded me to look it up.

Judy- Gald you liked the title. There was a lot of testosterone flying last night.

Yola, NoleGirl and Judy- Max (Roberto Blandon) cracks me up all the time with his facial expressions. I know they are over the top, but they tickle me and I really like the actor. I especially like his eye rolls and general expressions when Rosa is saying/doing something crazy.

Great recap Vivi. Loved the Rosa/Julie conversation about "our" fortune.

Does Rod still not know that CL is Luci's dad? It's ridiculous that no one has told him.

Emarie- Melissa's the only young person in the family who knows. Pato, Hannah, and Aldo don't know either. Connie has begged Melissa to stay quiet. Since this is difficult for her, she prefers to stay away. The guys are only now asking her what's the deal. Hannah, who is closest with her, asked her a long time ago and knows it has something to do with Rosa.

Vivi, thanks for your detailed summary/recap. I was hardly breathing due to the suspense in the court scene. I wish Oscar wouldn't heed Max's order to bribe the jurors and judge. I also want to thank you for the pottery info. The paints on this pottery Which they use for eating and cooking, I wonder if it's safe to use them.I see them around and wanted so much to use them for cooking Mexican dishes.

Thanks Vida2! Glad you appreciated the detail. They actually kept the court stuff pretty simple, as someone mentioned above, it almost seems silly. But I'm glad they kept it simple so that I didn't have to try to understand or explain anything difficult.
