Refugio Para el Amor #98 Thu 8/23/12 Discussion Post
I was unable to do the recap this evening. My hubby had emergency eye surgery at 5 p.m. this afternoon. I have put this discussion post up for y'all to discuss this episode. I apologize and should be able to recap again next week.

I will put some bullets of what I remember from the episode in the comments.
-Vio, on the advice of Serena and Ofelia, decides to check if Marcial’s divorce is legit. She arranges a meeting with CL for the day after tomorrow. Looks like she’s considering giving Marcial a chance if he’s really getting a divorce.
-Pato and his crew take their leave of Het Het. Pato reminds Luci that he will care for her baby, and she reminds/begs him not to tell Rod she’s expecting his child.
-Aldo is in a trouble-making mood. He gives Hannah enough info so that she figures out it was her mama who went to the police about Lorenzo’s tacos. He also invites Vicky, Hannah, Boris, Lula (who he calls Lola), Fabian and Lorenzo to Inferno, to rub it in Lastra’s and Ivan’s faces that he can and he’s the boss. At the club, Boris starts a fight with Lor when Hannah gives him a polite hello kiss on the cheek. Fab drags Lor out.
-Lastra creepily asks Vio about Ofelia and where she is.
-Since Melissa won’t come to Casa TL, Connie goes to have lunch with her. This ticks Rosa off. At lunch, Melissa once again scolds her mother for having been Rosa’s accomplice. Melissa and Connie are both happy that at least now CL and Luci are reunited.
-Pato tells Rod that Luci wants and needs to forget him. Alone, Pato cries and agonizes about keeping Luci’s secret, and about how he can get her out of his own heart, like she’s trying to get Rod out of hers.
-Best scene of the night: Pato tells Rosa off! He tells her he knows she knew about Luci’s baby, which by the way IS the FIRST TL grandchild. He keeps making her back up as he charges her with his wheelchair. He threatens that he WILL tell Rod about the baby. She pleads, cries, and gets on her knees and begs Pato not to say anything. Then she gets that cold hard scary look on her face, and tells him she doesn’t know when he became her enemy. Later, Mati tries to sell him some drivel about understanding his mother someday soon, when he expresses his concern about her mental health. I have no idea what she means by this.
-Brigida wants her back pay from Julie and Gala. Gala wants to blow her off, but Julie reminds her that Brigida knows too much dirt on them. Plus, she likes that Brigida’s soul is as black as her conscience.
-Luci talks up what a wonderful person Pato is to Magda and Paz, then tells them Pato had a novia before his accident and is in love with some girl who is prohibited to him. The mamas exchange meaningful looks over Luci’s head.
-There is yet another uncomfortable TL family dinner with just the couples and Julie- Max/Rosa, Gala/Rod, and Connie/Oscar. Max has the most hilarious bored look on his face as Julie and Gala blather on about shopping.
-Gala and Rod continue to bicker and not have sex. Oh, and she still really hates him, as she likes to remind herself in the mirror.
-Luci struggles with her heartache over Rod. Paz tells her she needs to thank God for each day and take the initiative to be happy. Luci says she’ll do it for her baby. She wants to go to Church to light a candle and say a prayer for everything turning out well at her papa’s trial.
-The Linares vs. Torreslanda trial begins!
Thank you for the terrific summary. "Aldo is in a trouble-making mood" and "Best scene of the night: Pato tells Rosa off" were my favorites.
I hate to see Pato in such torment. Does he speak or remain silent? And Luci - one heartbreak after the next. Suffering with Rod's marriage and another child on the way, the trial now arises. Who should be the victor? Max or Claudio?? Even though the courtroom was packed with TL supporters, the air of justice and vindication seemed to be in the air for the Linares' side.
"Paz tells her she needs to thank God for each day and take the initiative to be happy". Wise words from Paz but let's hope something or someone intervenes to hasten the process.
Happy Friday!

-Lorenzo finds the police receipt for the bike and basket in his jeans pocket, folded up with money. Now they can pay the fine and get their property back. Yay!
@VIVI..Always amazed at your memory and your skill at pulling together all the disparate elements of an episode.
So glad Lorenzo found the "papelito". I remember when I was trying to figure out why they were yelling "volante" at the police station, since my first thought was steering wheel. I guess only in Mexico does it also mean a little slip of paper like a receipt for impounded goods. Who knew?
Love love love the character of Pato, and the young actor portraying him is doing a fabulous job. This is the first time I've seen him in anything. I know he's the son of a well known actor, but is this his first big role?
I couldn't resist this pic of him as a little boy with his dad: bit.ly/NpW3vP
Vivi, you are a treasure as always to give us the highlights. It wasn't an earth-shattering episode of events, but it was fun to see the further development of how relationships are shaking out. And of course, the trial begins (Max needs to have that smug smile wiped off his face)!!
Aldo cracked me up last night. (The club seemed to need a few more patrons anyway--casting, you need a few more extras). As for Boris, ahhhhh, a future Dumbass in the making. Janna needs to shed this guy NOW.
After those glorious dinners at Het Het, last nights morgue scene at Casa Torreslanda was beyond funny. Only Julie seemed to be relishing the atmosphere, but then she was probably so drunk, she'd smile at anything.
But Pato, my Pato. Brandon can say more with his eyes then all the emoting from others!! Acting class, pay attention. He has tragedy written all over him, but for now, his indignation at his mother was so wonderful to watch. So now his mother thinks of him as an enemy. That won't be good considering what she does to anyone who threatens her LALAland.
Mati- shut up!!! As soon as she went into that "woe is me" mode when Pato confronted her, I knew she would be trying to justify or protect her little nutjob. She frustrates the daylights out of me.
Wish Oscar would ask Connie to move in with him soon. Rosa is not worth losing the respect of your children over.
Do we have to have a Gagme " I hate you Dumbass?" scene every night. Been there, done that, we get it.
thanks for pitching in for madelaine.
Madelaine, you and your husband and family will be in my prayers.
There are two scenes that stuck with me last night.
1. Frigida telling it like it is to Gala/Julie when Gala tried to brush her off 'Now I am the MRS T-L and i can have my husband or mother in law kick you out faster than a speeding bullet'... Frigida just responds 'you might be able to, but i could open my mouth about all the dirty things you have done to Luciana and perhaps you two would be right behind me when i leave...'... nuff said!!
and the Pato/Rosa scene:
Rosa overheard Rod's last line:
I wish all this was a nightmare, that i would be heading home and she would be there waiting for me! Luciana!
Rosa barges in saying how can you all still be talking about Luciana in my house!? or stte.
Rod leaves after Pato tells her he will stay in his room and eat there. Rosa approaches Pato from behind (Love that Pato likes to look out his window to think... or to avoid conflicts) and tells him some bullcrap about some day Rod not knowing how to thank her for getting Luciana out of his life, especially now that he is about to see born the first born T-L grandchild...
Pato explodes: You mean the Second Born, right?? (Rosa is so shocked she is speechless) Don't bother faking it with me, I know Luciana is expecting ROd's child! (Rosa tries to plant the seed of doubt that Luci's baby is not Rod's, but Pato yells 'IT is Rodrigo's!!).
LOVED both those scenes.
A very good episode, but I am seriously so sad for Luciana. I cannot bear the pain she must feel (I have to remind myself it's just TV)! Seriously, being in love with someone who you know loves you and is now married to someone else and both of you are preggers. WTH? I may cry right now...
Pato backing Rosa up with his chair was great... thought he may back her right out the window. Ugh, wishful thinking.
Vivi, thanks for posting, and also for the picture. Our Pato has always been a cutie. Rosalena had better not go after her own son, but nothing is beyond her. Good thing Max loves his kids so much. I'd like to think he'd toss Rosa out of a window on her hard head rather than let her physically hurt Pato.
NoleGirl- I feel really sad for Luci too. Most times I get annoyed by the sad, crying protagonist. Very few times do the writers, director, actress get the combination of sadness yet spunkiness and strength just right. Usually the heorine just ends up looking like a whiney cry baby (see Elisa in Abismo). But their are heroines that remind you of how it feels to be heartbroken for realz, and every tear they shed reminds you of one you shed over heartbreak. (Renata in CME is a recent example.) They are pulling it off here with Luciana. Good job ZV, director and writers.
The main galans, on the other hand, yikes. They have not been getting hammered by the TN writers lately as being one brick short of a load in most of the TN's in recent memory. But at least they aren't sniveling into the cameras, just stupid, clueless or egotists until they have earned the good woman. Seems the occurrences of the gallant Fernando C's who are heros from the get-go are rare.
Vivi---Thanks for your help. Your fill-in was great. You hit all thoes points from memory--Wow!! Great job.
Loved your line---She/Julie likes that Brigida's soul is as black as her conscience.
Marta---Thank you for the two great scenes that you described. Very, very helpful.
daisynjay---Looks like we often think alike. I'm getting sick of Mati too. -- I second your Mati-shut up!!!

Aldo is a troublemaker. He's not a bad person, but he's no boy scout either.
Thanks again Vivi for filling in the details. I'm often reminded how your mind is like a steel trap!
Love Pato standing up to mom again! Laura Flores is so terrifying as Rosalena, I can barely stand to watch her sometimes.
Thanks for the pic too.
