Amor Bravío #28 (Uni 23) Mon 9/17/12

Capitulo 28: The Weakest Link

Lo del pasado

Camila takes a drink when Viviana mentions Andres' name. She is in love with him and wants a divorce from Alonssso as soon as possible.

Lo de nuevo

Camila's Study:  Viviana – while pleased that Camila is planning to divorce Alonssso – is now concerned about her thing for Andres. It would be all well and good for herself to develop a relationship with a vaquero or a chauffeur because she is a woman alone, without family. Camila, however, has her family and position to consider. She should be looking for a man on her social level with her education and background. She should regard her feeling for Andres as the wakeup call and nothing else. She doesn't want her to get hurt. She suggests closing things out with Alonssso and moving on. Camila tells her not to worry.

El Diablo's Study:  He speaks impatiently on the phone to someone in Chile regarding the original copy of the death certificate. He wants it that very day.

Outside:  Viviana tries to get Camila talking about her plans for La Malquerida. Camila is surprised; she had none. Viviana explains that the talk is that the assessment was because she is planning to sell it and Camila tells her that it was all about getting things in order for Daniel. When Viviana tells her about it possibly being Alonssso's plan, Camila tells her that Alonssso is just an employee and is not qualified to make that decision. In fact, she is a little put out by this notion; she would not sell La Malquerida for anything. Viviana tells her that she just doesn't want to see her get hurt.

Alonssso's Office:   Natalia is sitting at the computer when Komodo Jr enters demanding to know whether she has located a photo of Daniel Diaz Acosta. She tries to put him off by saying not yet and that it might be difficult since he isn't famous or wealthy. He informs her that it is her only priority right now and if she doesn't find one she will have to go to Chile to speak to the appropriate officials. She is apprehensive because of his attitude as he exits.

Garage:  Leoncio is imbibing (as usual) as he examines the car. He mutters to himself about his guilt in the priest's “accident” and that this puts him in the position of right hand man [hombre de confianza] to the boss. Although he didn't like what he had to do to achieve that, he drinks to Alonssso. Little does he know that Andres is just outside the door listening to every word and thinking how he wishes he could denounce the lot of them.

Bulls running into the pen followed by vaqueros on horseback [¡Salud!]

Bull Pen:   Rudolfo and another vaquero prepare to brand the bulls as Camila explains the procedure to Viviana.

Noche y luna llena

Inn, Dining Room:  Natalia explains to her mother about having to look for photos of Daniel on the internet, but wondering what Andres has to do with this. Amanda gets her to talk about her feelings about Andres and when she gets confirmation that Natalia is hoping for romance she tries to explain that this will not happen. Just before this gets more awkward Andres arrives and joins them at the table.

El Diablo's Study:   He takes a call regarding checking out Andres' references. It sounds like he knows the people, which sounds ominous, along with the minor-key music. Isssadora Dragon arrives resplendent in her silver scales, saying “I hope this is not inopportune.” He ends the call and says “You never are.” Basso profundo laugh, like his namesake in Faust.

Dining Room:    Pleasant rachera music as Piedad serves Camila and Mama Metiche, who comments on how nice it is they're eating alone together like they used to. As Piedad departs this changes to something more suspense-oriented as Augustina starts talking about her and Camila taking a long trip together; it's time she begins enjoying her inheritance. Camila says she needs to resolve matters with Alonssso before anything else happens and Augustina suggests that she not be hasty about the divorce. You know this is no hasty decision, Camila tells her. Things are not working and it's better to have an amicable divorce. She will then be running the ranch because Alonssso will not want to be continuing as administrator after the divorce. When Augustina makes the suggestion that she sell the ranch Camila stares at her. The music gets darker as Mama Metiche tries to convince her that she can't do it all and that nobody will want to work for a woman. Camila is not having this. La Malquerida is her life now. It motivated her to go on and she has no intention of selling it. Augustina tells her to think about it to go on with her life, just as she is doing with El Diablo. She tells Camila she has to show her the gift he just gave her, gets up from the table as giddy as a stupid teenager, and exits. Camila is somewhat exasperated.

Alonssso's Office:   He sits at his computer biting his claws [¡Salud!] while studying the screen. He takes a call that causes him some anxiety. The high, minor-key three-note suspense-oriented leitmotif begins and runs into the next scene.

El Diablo's Lair:  Isssadora and El Diablo sit on his sofa talking about their risk-adversity. He's waiting for the death certificate because they need it before anyone else suspects that he is still alive and she is certain that Padre Baldomero had papers in his study that they should find before anyone else does. She is also concerned that Leoncio's drinking might cause him to talk. It's all a time-bomb. They hope that Andres can be of assistance in ferreting out their risks. El Diablo mentions something about Alonssso's mission to get the photo and Isssadora's cell phone rings. We don't hear Komodo Jr, but he is telling her that the priest has awakened. She tells him not to tell anyone and they will meet him at the hospital. She and El Diablo exit.

Dining Room:    Augustina shows Camila the pearl necklace. She examines it and asks her mother if she would like her it have it appraised. Augustina says no, why would she? Camila then mentions the local gossip that she – or they – are considering selling the ranch. Augustina suggests she listen to any offers but Camila flatly tells her no. If Augustina wants to go on a trip, she can but she will go without her. She is not interested in selling the ranch. Punto. Finally she gets up from the table, not willing to hear more tonterias. Augustina is so disappointed she pouts.

Inn, Dining Room:   We are cheated of a cara de impactada de Natalia, as we join them after the Big Revelation. Natalia comments that now Andres – Daniel – is her boss, but he tells her that the only boss at La Malquerida is and forever will be Camila. He warns both of them that he can't give all the details but they are dealing with very dangerous people. Amanda realizes that Padre Baldomero's condition came about through no accident. Natalia comments that she will have a hard time pretending not to know anything. We know she will be our next Weakest Link.

Hospital Waiting Room:    Hitchcock film-style music [We're remembering The Birds] underscores Isssadora and El Diablo's arrival. The doctor enters to talk to them and gives them both good and bad news; the padre is awake but cannot speak. He is apparently paralyzed and has a serious inflammation of the throat. Isssadora asks whether this means he will be bedridden the rest of his life, but the doctor replies that they will have to wait and see. He exits. El Diablo thinks that they have been lucky so far, but that this will have to be over before the padre leaves the hospital. The implication is that he expects the padre to leave it feet first.

Hospital Room:  Padre Baldomero is awake and of sound mind. He prays to God that if he wants to call him to his side he will be content to go. However, he pleads for help for Camila and Daniel.

Outside the Inn:  Amanda is preparing to visit the padre. Natalia is disappointed that she has to give up her illusions about Daniel.

Master Bedroom:   Alonssso arrives and Isssadora explains that the padre is both paralyzed and mute, so they have nothing to worry about... for the moment. As long as they can get the death certificate and can get Camila to take full possession of the ranch before she attempt a divorce they will be alright. However, Isssadora tells Alonssso he has to exaggerate his illness to delay the divorce. He isn't sure that will be effective and begins biting his claws. [¡Salud!] She thinks about having to take care of this herself without a word to him or El Diablo, then shouts at him to stop biting his claws. He gives her dagger eyes.

El Diablo's Lair (first outside):  Andres waits pensively for the Lord of Darkness to arrive. They exchange guarded pleasantries to the sound of ominous music, then a comment or two on how the Lord moves in mysterious ways and how Andres and Camila found the padre. They go inside. The string section hasn't been this excited since the last fight at Montero Manor as El Diablo comments on how Andres has risen in a short time from vaquero to chauffeur to the mother of the owner. That was a fast promotion, indeed. “You must be quite ambitious.” Andres explains he does hope for more and there is no evil in that. Now comes the remark about the thirty pieces of silver.

Camila's Study:  She looks at the framed wedding photo [Really, Camila; you do not deserve those nightmares]. To the sound of a love song we heard earlier she asks herself how she could have married Alonssso. Finally she opens the back of the frame, tears up the photo, and says that she will show the world she can be rid of him and manage the ranch all on her own. She then looks at a lawyer's business card.

El Diablo's Lair:    The Lord of Darkness asks Andres how he gets on with Leoncio. He responds “Not well.” He doesn't trust him, has seen him drinking on the job.  El Diablo agrees  and says he thinks he is hiding something. Andres says he has said nothing so far because he doesn't want to cause any trouble. He just wants to work hard, advance himself, and someday “be an important man... like you.” Basso profundo chuckles from El Diablo as he studies our handsome hero. [César, you should have studied for the opera.]

Bar:  Over glasses of red wine that are making this author thirsty Viviana and Rafael talk about this dangerous situation. Viviana reports that Camila seems to be falling in love with Daniel, but she is trying to talk her out of it. If they are truly cousins this would be a disaster. Rafael is still hoping for a chance at Camila for himself.

El Diablo's Lair:   He offers Andres a drink, but Andres declines on the grounds that he never drinks in the presence of superiors. El Diablo is not offended. He informs him that he can soon become his hombre de confianza and make mucho dinero. We hold our breath as Andres tells him he can count on him for anything. El Diablo tells him to keep an eye on Leoncio and report everything he says or does including his interactions with Alonssso and Camila. When speaking of Camila he gives away that he thinks her "beautiful and fascinating" but corrects himself about this, saying that it's because she is the daughter of his intended.  He wants Andres to intercept the death certificate.  He gives him a cell phone to communicate with him on so he will not have to use any of the phones at La Malquerida.

Park:  Pablo gives a ring to Luzma. They talk about money and how they will take care of wedding expenses and finally kiss. This is what Leoncio sees when spying on them from behind a tree.

Eliana's Room:   Bratgirl skypes with her mama and we learn that she and her mother are scheming to have her marry Pablo. She has no intention of being poor and will do whatever it takes to divert Pablo from “la servienta” that he is in love with.

Hospital Waiting Room:  Amanda and Natalia await new of the padre's condition. The nurse tells them that he is in intensive care and cannot have visitors. In cases like his most patients don't recover completely. Furthermore, he will have to be moved to a home or a private hospital because they don't have the capability to care for him. Amanda is adamant that if the padre wants to recover he will no matter what the doctors say.

Camila's Bedroom:  She looks up divorce law online and concludes that she could go to D.F. for an express divorce and avoid local gossip. She just needs to get the lawyer to agree. She closes the computer and begins to prepare for bed.

Rafael's Apartment:  Andres/Daniel visits Rafael to explain that he has gone undercover pretending to spy for El Diablo. Rafael is concerned about the danger, but that is why Andres/Daniel needs his help.

Outside Viviana's Apartment:  She gets out of the car and as she is about to unlock the gate, Bruno appears. We realize he is the abusive ex she ditched before coming to this area. She tells him she doesn't want him in her life anymore. He closes in, saying he looked for her to talk to her, she knees him and rushes through the gate. However, she didn't pause long enough to close it and he follows her.

Rafael's Apartment:  Andres/Daniel asks Rafael for a photo of his brother so Natalia can pass it off as Daniel. Rafael is concerned about what danger this would put his brother in, but he is reminded that his brother lives in the southernmost part of the country in an isolated community and is unlikely to be in danger. However, Andres/Daniel promises that the second his brother is in danger he will give himself up. Rafael extracts one more promise from him: That he will leave Camila alone and will not encourage her to fall for him.

Viviana's Apartment:  She leans against the door as Bruno tries to force his way in. She appears genuinely frightened. He swears he is not the same man he was before but she will not go back to him. She tells him she can never get back together with him.  He begs her to open the door so they can talk like adults. Foolishly she does so and he walks in asking for her forgiveness. She is willing to forgive him but can't forget what he did. He had beaten her and she had a miscarriage. She now can never have children. He responds that he also hurts about this, but she points out that he can still have children with another woman. Her chance at motherhood is gone forever. All the while she is backing up from him, telling him to leave. He refuses to, finally stating that he will reconquer her whether she likes it or not. He closes in, grabs her, and she fights back.  He yells at her to calm down and in the process looks like the criminal the flies on the wall think he is.  Finally she ends up on the couch in too vulnerable a position. He's gotten his fear fix from her and before he exits says he will be back in her life. She locks the door behind him, shaking as she collapses against the door, sliding to the floor.

Inn, Dining Room:  Andres calls Natalia to give her his new cell number and to tell her that he has a photo she can give to Alonssso. She tells him the update on Padre Baldomero.

Camila's Bedroom:  Viviana's words echo in her ears and she can't sleep. She gets up and Don Vicente serenades as Daniel arrives to see her sitting on the step.

Avances

They hear that the body found is not that of Daniel and Natalia is about to reveal the photo.

Urban, what a marvelous recap. Daniel/Andres is getting in deep. I love this TN cause all the good guys have the bad guys number. I can't stand Alonssso. What a putz and Leonicio either. I hated how Leonico was stalking his neice. I hope once Pablo goes home nothing happens to him. Bratgirl should just go home, can't stand her either.

Love how Camila admitted that she is starting to fall for Andres. I can't wait for her to find out he is way more than she sees right now. I am glad he is over his venganza theme against Camila.

How stupid is Camila's Mama? She is very needy, I think and needs to take it slowly with Dioniso so she can find out what he is really all about. I would hate for her to marry him and then find out he is a big time swindler.

I hope the Padre finds a save haven to recuperate away from Isadora and she can't have access to him while he recovers.

Alot of people know who D'Andres is now, I hope noone spills too soon.

Can't stand Bruno. Poor Vivi she sure was scared and now we find out why she got divorced. I hope she tells Rafa what happened, so someone can look out for her.

I'm guessing that Rafael will at least call her in the morning. I hope she isn't too embarrassed to tell him about this.

I'm sure that once Camila knows Andres' true identity she will back off in the erroneous belief that he is her cousin. First cousins can marry in Mexico, but it probably doesn't happen often.

When Augustina starts hearing about El Diablo she won't believe a word. The only thing that could make her walk away from him is catching him with Mama Dragon.

Where is Maja? She's been missing from the last 5 episodes and I miss her.

Excellent recap, UA! Boy, Cesar makes an evil bad guy! He reminds me of a real-life version of Snidley Whiplash off the old Dudley Do-Right cartoon.

I thought that to have Vivi let that brute in was contrary to how she had been portrayed up to this point. Too bad, but then lots of people are that way, "This is how you do it," but it is not the way they operate.

Cindy

Fabulous recap Urban. I am so glad the Padre lives another day. Now that he's conscious, I hope this means the writers intend to let him live till the end.

I can see Cami automatically offering the hacienda for his care. It makes sense. They have space and servants. I even heard Cami at some point mention that Padre is a distant relative of her mother's. But we all know that's the most dangerous place for him. Amanda's going to really have to plead her case if they want to bring the Padre to live with her and be safe.

I was also shocked that Vivi opened the door to Bruno, but many of the things people allow their abuser to do makes no sense. I have to say that the acting and pacing of that scene was very well done. I realized I had been holding my breath the entire time when Vivi finally locked the door with her key. I too hope her pride doesn't prevent her from telling Rafa and Camila. People like Vivi, who only like to show their strong side, have trouble asking for help.

I also enjoyed the scene with D'Andres and Dio. Cesar was great in that scene, with his evil charming smile, and rumbly evil laugh.

Terrific recap, UA. It made me realize there were some key points that I missed. Thanks for filling me in, and doing so with such delightful snark. I think I'll refer to Alonso as "Komodo Jr" from now on. And you described Mama Dragon perfectly: "Isssadora Dragon arrives resplendent in her silver scales."

Was there a key scene cut out last night? One minute Natalia is pining over Andres, and the next, she knows he's Daniel. Isn't that a scene we should have witnessed?

The scene between Vivi and Bruno caught me by surprise, but I guess it makes sense. It certainly makes her a more fully envisioned character, though the contrast between the way she has been up until now and her sobbing hysterically on the floor was perhaps a bit much.

Since Daniel is now supposed to watch Leoncio's every move, I hope Daniel will be there to rescue Luzma when she needs it.

Wow!! What a recap!
I too am glad that Andres/Daniel will follow Leonicio and hopefully intercept any of his foolishness towards Luzma. Your description of Isssadora, resplendent in her silver scales was spot on.
It seems as if someone made a boo boo in the editing department in regards to Natalia finding out about Andres/Daniel.

I wonder if it was left on the cutting room floor. More likely it was a case of the writers bucking cliche, as they are wont to do in this series and sparing us another eye roll.

I think it was implied that Dan revealed all to Amanda and Nat at the table. We really didn't need to see yet another person reacting to learning the truth of his identity.

Nat now realizes that a) D'Andres is above her social station; and b) D'Andres has WAY more important things to worry about right now than having a girlfriend.

UA: You always do great recaps, and the fans - ah, ah, ah.

But, I am watching this novela and can't get into it. It's so formula driven.

Thanks for the recap Urban. What kind of cat is gracing your photo?

Wow, now that we know Vivi's ex, it is understandable she is outspoken but I was sad she opened the door. She knows he's crazy why talk? I too hope she tells Rafa and Cami about Bruno.

Madelaine - yes Aggie is too dumb for her own good. She's been swindled once in marriage and I guess she learned nothing on how to spot questionable men. Silly goose.

Karen, the cat in my photo is my darling Figaro. I'd direct you to my album of cat pictures but Photobucket is having issues today.

Augustina is so stupid I have difficulty thinking she could have given birth to Camila.

"Augustina is so stupid I have difficulty thinking she could have given birth to Camila."

LOL! I guess Cami takes after her dad's side.

UA--this was an intriguing episode to recap. So much of the action was really going on just below the surface. You treated it just so perfectly. Thank you.

I also enjoyed the Dio-Dandres "seduction" scene. Little does Dio know.....(he of the twirling non-existant mustache), how close he is to his target; but little does Dandres know....(he of the gorgeous hair, eyes, lips, physique, and how even a charro uniform looks goooooood on him), how close he is to the person responsible for his being accused of shooting Miriam and imprisoned.

Gussie is there to be an annoying little gnat and to give Dio an excuse to come and go at LMQ as he pleases.

Leoncio is the most dangerous character right now, to himself (he's expendable), Dandres, Luzma AND Camila. Drinking, lewedness and envy are powerful aphrodisiacs--add a gun, a car or a rope to the mix and you might get rape or murder.

I wish Camila could share what she found out about un divorcio express with Rodrigo over on Refugio. He really needs that information to counter Gala's refusal to evvva give him a divorce, ha.

Slimy Bruno is the same guy who played the slimy chauffer in MEPS.

Robey

UA,are these all your fans? They are so beautiful, I just assumed they were pictures you found and posted off the internet. Thanks for sharing them!

Off to read the recap. I had to skim real quick to see if Padre was still alive.

Rosemary la Otra

Those are my fans. The photos are in my photobucket account along with photos of my cats.

My two present furbabies are Figaro and Carmen (the tuxedo girl). The other in the album, alas, are gone.

RLO-In case UA doesn't get back to you, yes, they are all her fans from her collection. She described the origins early on in the postings.

About Bruno--I was wondering how long it would be before another Bruno appeared. It seems to be a favorite name for an evil or slimy character. Of the tns I've seen, there was one each in Sortilegio, Eva Luna, Corazon Apasionado, La Que No Podia Amar and now Amor Bravio. We are Bruno-free in Refugio so far.
Anita

UA - lol to picture #12 of Carmen. What a personality! And Figaro is gorgeous!

Anita - thanks for getting back to me too. I wish I'd seen that post. I left a little message for you on our weekend greeting card comments. It's the very last comment.

UA- If I send you my Abismo recap, can you post it?

UA- Thanks for your help but Carlos posted it for me, but I also wanted to know if you can send me a link to your online episodes. The one I used this weekend is no longer available. My address is cathyhix424 at yahoo dot com.

Cathyx, done.

Rosemary, thanks. My babies are beautiful and they know it. Figaro is only 17 months old and he weighs 12 pounds. Very playful and full of mischief. Both are cuddly, but if I ever want a third one I have to get another boy because Carmen can't handle being around other females.

UA - Thanks.

Enjoyed the cat and mouse scene between Dionisio and Daniel. Wondering which one of Daniel’s confidantes will be the one (probably unintentionally) to spill the beans.

Rafa is nuts to use his brother's photo as Daniel, no matter how far away he lives. I thought Daniel had a lot of nerve to ask this of Rafa.

Great recap UA, I love all your nicknames for Dionisio. They all work well for him.

I can't believe Viv let him in either. She was acting so afraid, and then she unlocks the door and lets him in. Doesn't make sense.

I agree with many of you that it's so refreshing to have the good guys getting the upper hand. Dan working for Dion is going to be a hoot to watch.

I thought that in the phone conversation Dion had with the reference writers that they said they knew him and he was a good person. And Dion acted pleased by that because he wanted to get Dan to work for him and wanted to be able to trust him.

We all know that Dan will try to not fall in love with Cam but fate will have it's own path. It'll be fun to watch them try to not fall for each other.

I caught myself saying Salud when I saw the bulls, but I missed that we say it for the nail chewing. And mama scolded Al for doing that too.

Remember that the bulls in the credit sequences don't count. ;)

Thanks, UA for the wonderful recap, and Jardinera yesterday. I'm a bit behind, but catching up.

I'm so enjoying Sylvia's and Cesar's acting. They are both able to improvise with the character just a bit to make it more interesting.

More complications every day.

I just finished watching tonight's episode (i.e., Tuesday's), and the avances kept talking about "el viernes". Is it possible that there will be no Amor Bravío for the next two days???

Hello,i just have one question i was watching episode 28 and wanted to know the song that was singing when cammilla was looking at her picture with Alonso please help
