Por Ella #53 9/28/12: Two Dumb Bunnies and Pluti's Got Muscle

Hi y'all , this recap will not be in order and I am going to try to keep it short and sweet. I didn't take notes and watched in real time, so if I missed something, please comment.

We start with Mimi and Eva going down to the detention center in answer to Marcela's call. They get her out. They joke with her and she is kinda down, after being thought a prostitute and just wants to go home, which Eva and Mimi do for her. Marcela gets home and has cleaned up all the little objects of lurrrvvvee she sprinkled all over and even has gotten rid of that sexy outfit. She is now in the kitchen wearing her jammies fixing herself a cup of tea and she seems to be inwardly berating herself. Fern comes home and tries to talk to her, but Marcela so doesn't want to talk and tells Fern she is tired and going to bed.

Pluti and Helena are gathered at Helena's parents' house and I think that Eduardo is mad cause Helena is allowing Mario to visit Lalito in his own home. I think Helena says he has a right to visit and Mario and Lalito go up to Lalito's room. They find they have something in common like foosball and play a game. Mario and Lalito are getting along very well. Meanwhile downstairs, Pluti is about to sit down and have a cafe with Helena and her family when Eva comes to call. Helena isn't happy to see Eva, but Eva has come on an important mission. Helena isn't happy but allows Eva to get on with it. It is the pics on the phone JC took of Pluti giving Mario money. Now Pluti has to explain himself and he ain't happy. The hamster wheel in his head is turning and of course he says he did it for Mario to go away already. Eva does a moue with her mouth, and Helena rips into her and tells her to stop talking bad about Pluti and to leave now and they'll talk tomorrow. Eva goes but isn't happy. She goes outside and makes a phone call to Mimi I think.

Fern is still trying to get out of Marcela what happened last night. Marcela is fixing eggs and she calls Eva on the phone and talks to her about the sexy clothes and stuff, while Fern is using his auditory skills by eavesdropping on Marcela. Marcela and Eva finish the convo and Fern comes in wanting to know who that was, she tells him her parents and then ignores him. Later, Fern discovers that sexy lingere in the trash and comes to the incorrect conclusion that Marcela has a lover, yeah right. Fern is a dumb bunny. Note to Fern, after she tried to talk to you about sex, and your lastest performance did you get a clue, it's all about you??? NO. Dumb bunny! So what does Fern do? He calls the next unqualified person to give him advice and that would be his BFF Santi.

Meanwhile, Santi is with Patti Bebe checking out this exclusive, apartment with what seems to be a jacked up high price. She is going on and on about how great this place would be to live, it's perfect, please pretty please with cherries on top, well you get the drift and Santi is very reluctant. About this time Santi gets a phone call from his dumb bunny BFF Fern. Fern informs Santi that he thinks Marcela has a lover, there was evidence and he just knows by what he found she is messin' around. Well Santi keeps trying to tell Fern no way, no how, she has a lover. I have to say here, when would Marcela have time to be messin' around. The poor woman works, cleans, cooks, she's probably exhausted at the end of her day, jus' sayin'. Well, during this whole convo, Patti Bebe hands Santi the contract for buying this place they are in, and Santi, Dumb Bunny number two signs it, all the way thru, doesn't stop to ask what it is, and Patti Bebe I notice doesn't sign anything. I tell you from all the signs and wonders she is displaying she is sending Santi to the poor house.

JC is back at the pension as himself and is telling Mimi what happened with Helena and that he knows where Mario is staying and would like to go talk to him. So JC goes to see Mario at his hotel. He says he is a friend of Helena's and wants to know why Mario has shown up now. Mario says he wants to get to know his son, he was a jerk to Helena in the past and wants to change and be a good dad. JC also tells Mario he was a jerk to alot of people at one point in his life, but people can change and it's better they do. JC and Mario actually could be friends if JC weren't in love with Helena. They shake hands and part ways. Mario actually liked JC. Now I have to say here, JC never told Mario his name, just that he was a friend of Helena's. JC goes back to the pension and talks to Mimi who thought it was a great and wonderful thing he went to see Mario. Mimi is glad that JC found out all about Mario by having a heart to heart with him without the drama of a fight. Mimi is very proud. One of them mentions that Eva has had the right effect on JC.

Fern and Marcela are eating with their kids when Fern starts to give Marcela the 3rd degree without really saying what is on his mind. Marcela doesn't have any earthly idea what he is getting at. Fern keeps asking Marcela if they shouldn't have a convo alone, huh, what???? The kids are way uncomfortable and Fern won't stop. Finally Fern leaves the table and the kids want to know what the hey is goin' on. Fern goes out.

Fern meets up with Santi at a gym and starts putting on the boxing gloves swearing up and down that Marcela is so cheating on him. Poor Santi is the boxing partner, with the paddles that Fern is hitting. A little later we see Santi bringing Fern home, drunk as a skunk, slung over his shoulder. It was really funny and he sits Fern on the couch and goes. Marcela is wondering what the hey is wrong with Fern all of a sudden. She really doesn't have a clue. All Fern wants is a kiss, Marcela gets close to him, but peeww, that alcohol breath. She won't kiss him. She goes into the kitchen and he follows on his knees almost scaring her to death and he is still insisting on a kiss. He finally stands up, but she is still not wanting to kiss him and is attempting to make him some coffee, when he passes out, lol.

An older couple ask Eva where her "nephew" is. I don't know what Eva told them, but they were looking for him to move some stuff around in their room. Eva is gonna let Mimi handle that, but tells the older couple she'll get the "nephew" to help.

JC has a little surprise for Mimi. He gives her a uniform from G.I. and tells Mimi you are starting work tomorrow at G.I. as, wait for it, my new assistant. Mimi is very happy.

It is the next day and Mimi has come to G.I. with Eva. Mimi is dressed in a different looking uniform. It is dark, navy blue and it shows alot of boobage, jus' sayin'. Eva comes by the desk of the Evalettes to let them know that Mimi is going to be her new assistant. The Evalettes ask if Eva is sure bout that, and Eva says, in her new position as one of the partners of course it is, well Adri comes in about this point and is so not down with that. He wasn't advised doncha know. He wants to know what type of experience Mimi has to be Eva's assistant. Mimi mentioned she worked in the TV industry I beleive and learned to handle people. Adri doesn't think that is any experience for what they do at G.I., but Eva and Mimi tag team Adri and he agrees on a trial basis, I think.

Fern and Santi are in their office and Fern has a heck of a hangover. Does this guy ever work? It looks like Santi is actually working and stops to see what is up with Fern. He gives him water and something else and Fern's head is just aching. Marcela comes in to see Fern but he is so rude to her, she goes. Santi just wants Fern to drink the water and eat what he gave him to get over the hangover, and hopefully get some work done, as if.

Meanwhile, Helena and Lucia are having a convo about Eva. Helena is tired of Eva always interferring in her life, she could just strangle her sometimes and Pluti is always trying to help her and why is Eva interferring, say what???? It seems Pluti is always showing up to interfere and Eva is just tryin' to save Helena, jus' sayin'. Anyhoo, Lucia as a dumb bunny as she is in her own life, i.e. Renato, she does have radar for bad hombres pursuing Helena like Pluti, and crosses her eyes everytime Helena is extolling Pluti's virtues. Lucia doesn't like Pluti but likes Eva. Helena says she is having a long convo with Eva today to inform her to butt out of her personal life.

Meanwhile, Mario is in his room, putting his boots on, when there is a knock on the door. I'll give you one guess who it is, anyone??? It's Pluti of course and he has brought some muscle with him. Dios forbid Pluti should do all his own dirty work. Anyways, he has brought Onesimo, and two other muscle guys. Pluti wants Mario gone like yesterday. Well Mario has news for Pluti, he is stayin' and he ain't goin'. Well Pluti informs Mario that he wants Helena to be his wife and Mario is an impediment and I'm pretty sure Pluti is pithed that Mario went off script. Anyhoo, Mario insists he ain't goin' nowheres, when Onesimo pulls the Persuader out of his jacket pocket and the other two muscle guys are cracking their knuckles. Onesimo puts the gun to Mario's temple and Pluti informs Mario he has two choices and only two: 1) LARGATE, or 2) DIE take your pick. That's all for this evening.

ADVANCES:

Helena tells Eva she loves Pluti, QTH!!!!!

Nice job, Madelaine. That's a lot just from memory. I can't think of anything to add.

I'm not liking the way Paty bebe is treating Santiago. I know he's a goofus, but this bothers me.

I found this article (Why One Man Welcomes 'The End of Men.') on Facebook this morning:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/carlosgomez/whyonemanwelcomesthe_b_1922697.html?fb_action_ids=10151262019490962&fb_action_types=news.reads&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%7B%2210151262019490962%22%3A213004778830737%7D&action_type_map=%7B%2210151262019490962%22%3A%22news.reads%22%7D&action_ref_map=[]

It reflects what's being discussed here. Here's the first paragraph: Our model of masculinity is outdated and quickly becoming obsolete. As scary as that might sound, it is actually good news. The better news - many of the guys in my younger generation are already adapting by rethinking and redefining what it means to be a man. They are defying gender stereotypes by being stay-at-home dads, willing to openly communicate and humbly listen, embracing vulnerability and emotion, enrolling in school to better themselves, and abandoning traditional hyper-machismo posturing. I know these men exist because they are my friends, colleagues, and fellow artists. These men are not a novelty - they are here to stay and their numbers are growing.

Wow Ithabill...what a hopeful article. I will be very happy for the woman of the younger generation if this trend turns out to be true and wide spread.

MADS...thanks for the recap. Loved your quip that Fernando "calls the next unqualified person"...poor Santiago is being betrayed by his fiancée, financially at least, and is certainly in no position to advise Fernando about his non-existent problem.

They certainly DID alter Mimi's uniform and it certainly DID distracted poor Adriano.

Hope Mario doesn't disappear immediately. I like the actor and have to admit I found the scene between him and Juan Carlos quite touching, sentimental fool that I am.

Clearly Plutarcho means business even if Helena is nothing more than the prize in the bottom of the CrackerJack box for him. He's not only won over Eduardo but looks like he's inveigled Helena and her mom as well. More drama!

Ithabill thanks for the great article. I liked it so much I think I may buy his book. In this TN I think the writers have over machoed the guys, and the women are really running things without them knowing, if you get my drift. They may look and feel subjugated, when in reality, they are really running things in the background.

Fern and Marcela sure have a communications problem. All Fern had to do was ask Marcela outright. Now the poor thing doesn't understand what happened and same for her. She could have come straight out and said what was on her mind.

Santi should have watched what he was signing. I still think Patti Bebe is on a mission of revenge, now that Santi has fallen for her. We'll see. That is my own opinion not a spoiler.

Love how Eva and Mimi bamboozled Adri into giving Mimi a try at G.I.It was too funny and Adri was just staring at the boobage, lol.

I am starting to like Mario. I really think he does want some type of relationship with Lalito, and JUDY with you about the actor, I like him too.

Pluti needs a really big anvil. I am just hoping that Helena really finds out exactly what Pluti did to JC and that Pluti caused the death of Antonia. Speaking of Antonia I want her to be haunting Pluti for a long time.

Oh, and Lucia, how she can see thru Pluti, but has no clue about her own love life. That is interesting. I am glad Lucia tries to tell Helena at every turn about Pluti, but Helena doesn't listen.

I think JC really has learned alot from being Eva. He is way more sensitive than he used to be and sees the women around him as people instead of use em and lose em.

Thanks Madelaine. This was clear & complete. I don't know how you do it from memory.

I think that Pluti is truly smitten with Eva. I don't think he has another agenda. BUT he is so controlling and manipulative that he sees nothing wrong with his nasty tactics to win her. -- I can't believe that Helena seems to be falling for his act. That last lie about how he ws just trying to get Mario to leave seemed to have worked wonders on her degree of admiration.

It's funny how every thing that Ev does sto undermine Plutarco ends up making Pluti look like more of a hero instead. And each time Helena's respect & affection for Pluti grow. Eva is like Wiley Coyote. Her best laid plans blow up in her face.

That scene between Mario & Juan Carlos was wonderful. We've seen JC give very sensitive advice in his Eva guise -- but now he's learning to be a sensitive advisor as JC . I'm with Mimi. He was great.

Speaking of Mimi -- she does indeed wear that uniform differently than the other Evalettes -- and Adri certainly noticed.

Thanks, Madelaine. In addition to capturing all the latest developments, you taught me a new word... "moue"! So now I know what that face is called!

I wondered late Thursday if anyone at Helena's house would notice and comment on how Mario showed not the slightest curiosity as to Pluto's relationship to Helena and Lalito. It would seem that this subtle clue escaped all of them. #@$%!!

I like Mario, too. I hope he gets a good outcome of some kind.

And I REALLY miss Ghost Antonia.

Wonderful recap Mads. You got it all, even from memory!

I am annoyed with Helena's whole family for so blindly trusting Pluto. But JC/Eva needs to concentrate on busting Pluto for the fraud and framing of JC. All this other stuff is getting him nowhere and is just distraction. Plus, his shrill and pushy style of trying to "help" Helena is just making Helena distance herself from Eva.

I'm also glad that Mario is turning into a good guy. Great man-to-man talk between him and JC. I like how JC admitted that he was a jerk/cad too, and realized the Mario can change, just like he changed. Hopefully Mario lives to be a dad to Lalo, and maybe to clue Helena in about Pluto.

Paty-bebe is definitely planning on getting Santi into deep debt and then dumping his butt. There's no doubt about it. She gets a gleeful evil look in her eye each time she charges his credit card or gets him to commit to something expensive. I feel sorry for Santi, but I give her props for this plan. What a great way to get revenge on a may who dumped you at the altar to go have sex with some hoochie mama who crashed your wedding.

I'm only giving Mario a pass if he moves to Mexico like he said he would. He hasn't done anything about Lalito for 8 years and now he wants the kid to replace his dead wife and baby? AND take Lalito to the US away from the only family he has? No. He needs to remember his 8-year absence, move slowly, and within Helena's rules (one of which should be supervision). Prove yourself first buddy. But if Eva is willing to cut you some slack, then I can too.

Can we get Antonia's ghost back? Pluto needs another scare.

Kelly

Thanks much Madelaine! You did this from memory? Wow!

I get frustrated when the writers make a character pile up the ugly deeds one after another. Pluto routinely cheated on his wife (whom he only married por interés), bamboozled her to neglect her health, made fun of her constantly behind her back, and she finally dies to his delight. And he setup the fraud charge for JC (and did he keep that money?) And now he's brought Lalito's dad back, and is now willing to kill him to get rid of him - poor whipsawed Lalito. It's just when they pile so much on, the final reveals aren't as much fun because there are SO many crimes most of them just get lost by the wayside!

Anyhoo

Hot Mario, hopefully, will only be gone momentarily, and will return to reveal Pluto's dastardly deed involving him. The guy's a bit too beefed up for me, but I love his hair!

You know, I thought at first that Mario was going to reveal that Eduardo had originally paid him off to dump Helena. Seemed just like the kind of thing Eduardo would do to humiliate his own daughter. But the story didn't go that way, and I guess Mario was a jerk deserter all on his own merits LOL!

Thanks, Madelaine, enjoyed your recap. I'm glad Mario was willing to listen to JC and that JC can see his past mistakes.
Marcela and Fernando are in a real mess--a slightly different twist on mutual misunderstanding in a couple.
I vote for Antonia's ghost to return. Pluto's designs on Helena are going too easily right now and Eva's anti-Pluto campaign could use some help.
La Paloma

Me too! Bring on Antonia's ghost! I miss Antonia :(

Sorry for the late post. Thanks, Madelaine!

Madelaine - fine recap.

I too hope Mario sticks around. I like that even though JC wanted to be Lalito's dad, he understands Mario has a right to a second chance. Lalito will be so disappointed if Mario disappears.

So funny when Santiago carrying drunk Fern into his house, accidently banged Fern's body against the wall. Don't even know why but Santiago looked especially cute to me in this episode.

Thank you for the recap. My goodness from memory, that was excellent and funny. I aspire to be like you.

Hi Y'all, thanks for all the great comments. This epi was really easy, not much really happened except for the heart to heart with Mario.

Guera- so with you about how Eva continually tries to help Helena and Pluti one ups her everytime. I'm sure this won't go on forever, Pluti will be caught eventually, but I really hope Helena isn't hurt.

Julie- It just struck me when Eva was making that little pucker thingy with her mouth. I read the moue word a long time ago and just remembered it when Eva was making that face, lol. Yeah I wondered to about why noone noticed Mario didn't say anything about Pluti with Helena. It did escape them.

Vivi- With you about JC should be concentrating on the fraud. He is stymied now I think because he has been trying to find Antonia's thesis and trying to keep Pluti at bay. He ought to just concentrate on the fraud and if he finds proof that sticks that will take care of Pluti.

Kelly- I agree about Mario taking it slowly. I think after the talk he had with JC, if he gets the chance, he will do it right.

Audrey- I think Mario was just scared and young at the time he deserted Helena, plus Eduardo was probably not nice back then either and gave him hell. This doesn't excuse what Mario did at all. I think now he wants to change and just wants a relationship with his son. I hope he outs Pluti too. Can't stand it either that Pluti gets away with everything.

La Paloma- I thought it was funny that this whole epi, Marcela and Fernando couldn't get out what they really wanted to say. It was like talking at cross purposes all this epi. I hope they sit down and have a very long talk.

Mil in NC- Never be sorry for a late post, they are always welcome :).

Neice in MD-It was funny how Santi was carrying Fern around. Santi doesn't look all that muscley and I was surprised he could carry him like that without dropping him. The banging in the wall was funny and the way he put Fern on that sofa, too funny.

TJ- I always enjoy your recaps. This one was easy, not too much info. It was more a romp of comedy then anything serious except at the end. That was scary. I hope we don't see a body count start, jus' sayin'.

With all of you about Antonia. She really needs to do some more haunting, so Pluti goes off the deep end and goes to a manicomio, only wishful thinking. I think Pluti will be up to more dastardly deeds before he is done. Hopefully, he left some clues as to how he did this fraud so the good guys can finally suss out what he did.

OT: Can't seem to get into AB's recap page so posting this here. For those who don't know, found out from my friend, Colunga is working on a new TN, I think with Blanca Soto.
