Refugio Para el Amor #122 Thu 9/27/12 The Looks of Love; Melissa's Professional Exam; Guess Who Dropped In For Dinner?
Torreslanda Bidness, Rod's Office
Rosa interrupts Rod and Oscar doing bidness and wants to know where her hubby Max is. She came here looking for him, he isn't here, called his cell no answer, what, is he with his lover? Rod is tired of this and says he's doing bidness and she rounds on Oscar saying the same thing. Oscar avoids answering her. She tells them both, when Max comes back from whereva to let him know she was looking for him, and she haughtily leaves the room. Rod goes right back to bidness and Oscar is all flummoxed.
Afternoon Delight Suite of Vicky and Max
Max has left that cheque on the table and Vicky is putting her earrings back in. She is pithed and Max comes out of the bathroom. Max tells Vicky there's the cheque, don't forget it. Vicky says Oh, Osito, the cheque and she takes it, rips it up and places it in his suit jacket pocket and says oh, here's your cheque! Max wants to know why she ripped up the cheque. She tells Max she wanted his help. She tells him not to come looking for her anymore and he says he won't. She says Adios, and goes. Max smirks.
Hanna's Prepa
Lula is giving Hanna heck about Boris again. (Note to Lula: STFU and get him for yourself, jus' sayin'). Boris comes to the table where Lula and Hanna are having what looks like fries or fried jicama and then passes by and sits at another table. Lula says oh, looky here, Boris has a broken heart and she reaches for Hanna's fries, which Hanna will not share and Hanna could care less about what Boris does either.
Torreslanda Bidness, Claudio's Office
Luci is in her Papa Claudio's Office telling him about her visit with Rosa and how Rosa is in a bad way. Claudio tells her not to buy into that, eva. Melissa comes in and interrupts and she has brought invitations for the both of them to attend her professional exam and she even has one for Lorenzo too. Luci and Claudio will be happy to be there, but Claudio says under one condition. Melissa wants to know what condition, she is all happy. Claudio wants her to come to dinner with them afterwards. Melissa is over the moon and agrees of course. The phone rings, Claudio answers, and says that Pato would like to see Luci, Luci says its probably about Ofelia and goes and Vio and Aldo come in and greet Claudio and Melissa. Aldo hugs his big sis. Melissa tells them about her exam and Claudio tells them about the dinner afterwards. Melissa invites them also.
Torreslanda Bidness, Pato's Office
Pato is meeting with Ofelia about her new job as his secretary. Luci comes in and Pato informs her that Ofelia is quitting her job at the cafeteria today and will start at Torreslanda, manana. Luci is very happy and Ofelia gives Luci a big ole hug. Pato smiles. Ah, Pato if only.
Restaurant in the D.F.
Gagme and the Champagne Queen are having luncheon and discussing their many man, er, money, er, problems, you get the drift. Gagme has informed the Champagne Queen about Rod's threatening a divorce. The Champagne Queen says why would he ask you for one, (Note to Champagne Queen- You raised her and YOU don't know, come on now) and Gagme tells the Champagne Queen it'll be over her stone cold dead body, he is sooo not getting a divorce (Note to Gagme: I hope this is a self inducing anvil, jus' sayin'). The Champagne Queen reminds Gagme once again that Luci is near Rodrigo es Mio every day at the office. The Champagne Queen has a new plan, she hasn't done this in years, but she is feeling the need to work. Oh, yeah that's working for her, so NOT. Gagme actually laughs in her face and says, you work???? What are you sniffing, snorting, drinking, you get the drift. Gagme even goes so far as to say the word work, isn't in the Champagne Queen's dictionary, lol. Now Gagme wants to know exactly where the Champagne Queen intends to find this phantasma of a job. Well the Champagne Queen says, Torreslanda of course. Gagme cracks up even more!
Torreslanda Home, Kitchen
Frigid and Mati are in the kitchen, doing their work when Conny comes in and gives Mati an invitation to Melissa's professional exam. Mati is super happy to get this invite and thanks Conny for it. Frigid looks a little perturbed and Conny has to tell her no invite for you. Frigid says that's ok, she has other stuff to do. Mati and Conny roll their eyes and Frigid tells Conny to congrat Melissa for her. Conny says she'll do that and goes. Mati is so excited about going.
Back to that Restaurant in the D.F.
The Gagme/Champagne Queen luncheon of mis planes continues. The Champagne Queen says she'll talk to Max doncha know, about a job in public relations. Gagme is still laughing. The Champagne Queen tells Gagme to think about it, she'll be close to Rodrigo es Mio and can keep an eye on him and maybe save Gagme's marriage (Note to CQ: Neva, eva gonna happen). Gagme is still laughing and tells the Champagne Queen to come off the nonsense. The Champagne Queen assures Gagme this is a marvelous plan to save Rodrigo es Mio for Gagme, but there is a little sumthin' sumthin' in it for the Champagne Queen herself, she isn't doing this just for Gagme, no siree bob, she wants to, wait for it, conquer, as in make him mine, all mine, as in Claudio es Mio, Claudio Linares!!!!!! Ok! (Note to CQ: Neva, eva gonna happen, Mr. Claudio Linares and his noblesse oblige would see right thru you, jus' sayin' ). Well blow me over with a feather, er, Gagme is laughing so hard and showing that grill from ear to ear!!!!!!
Torreslanda Home, Outside on the Lawn
Melissa and Hanna are hangin' out in a circular, sort of lounge chair. Hanna calls Gennaro over for something, and he goes. Hanna is happy and excited for Melissa and her professional exam. Melissa says, what excites her, not really, but you get the drift, is that Lic. Linares will be there. Hanna says she isn't joking now, but is Melissa seriously in love with Claudio? He is way older than you are she says. He could be Melissa's Papa. Melissa says she doesn't think of him that way at all. Hanna can't get over the fact that Melissa wants a serious romance with Claudio. Melissa says she just loves being with Claudio. Hanna wants to come to this professional exam. Melissa tells her ok, and is she bringing Boris too. Hanna informs Melissa she broke up with Boris, YaY!!!!!
At This Very Moment, Outside the Gates of The Torreslanda Home
Boris is sitting in his car, crying, big ole baby, and talking to a nonexistant Hanna. He is trying to find the words he would say to her, to have her forgive him, as if, nevva gonna happen. So when he doesn't get the words right, he bangs the steering wheel of his car. He has the evil look.
Claudio and Lic Barrerra's Office
Claudio and Lic Barrerra have come into their office. They have been talking about the takedown of Club Inferno. Claudio informs Lic Barrerra that he thinks Max is the owner and there are some clues leading the way. Lic Barrerra thinks there is no concrete evidence of that, but Claudio insists there are links. Claudio wants Lic Barrerra to go visit Ivan and get him to talk.Ruh Roh.
La Carcel in the D.F.
Poor Ivan is in the carcel, not poor but you get the drift. Lic Barrerra has come to see our stool pigeon ,Ivan. Ivan wants Lic Barrerra's help, Lic Barrerra tells Ivan information is a two way street, in other words, you tell me what you know, and I'll help you, maybe. Ivan basically tells Lic Barrerra he just worked at Inferno, and didn't know the inner workings of the bidness. Lic Barrerra asks Ivan if he knows where Lastra is. Ivan swears he doesn't know. Lic Barrerra tells Ivan fine, when you find out that info, call me. But before Lic Barrerra leaves he informs Ivan to enjoy his stay in the la carcel. He goes and Ivan is pitifully screaming for Lic Barrerra, while Ivan's cellmate looks on. Ivan is very upset.
The Hood, Estelita's Apartment
Ofelia is helping Marianita with her English homework, Ofelia speaks it pretty well. The words are door, car, etc. Ofelia congrats Marianita for doing such a great job. The phone rings and Mari wants to get it, but Ofelia tells her to finish her homework and she'll get it. Ofelia picks up the phone and of course it is wait for it, Lastra. He wants Ofelia to listen to him. He's in a park calling her from his cell phone. Ofelia tells him the cops are lookin' for him. He says he knows but he just wants to talk to her. Ofelia tells him for the umpteenth millionth time they have nothing to talk about and to stop seeking her out and she hangs up on him! He's very perturbed and slithers away. Mari wants to know who it was, and Ofelia gives her a vague answer. Ofelia says it's time to get back to homework and they do.
Torreslanda Home, Sitting Room
Conny and Rosa are having coffee and Conny is telling Rosa about how excited Melissa is about this professional exam. Melissa wants the whole family to be there. Rosa is wanting to know if her arch enemy, er, Claudio Linares will be there? Conny says yes, of course but Rosa can't avoid him forever, Conny has to practically beg Rosa to come to Melissa's exam (Note to Conny, let her stay home, who cares, you'd have more fun without her, jus's sayin'). Rosa gives Conny the stink eye.
Hotel Suite, D.F.
Luci and Vio are in Luci's Suite at the hotel. Vio is in a very wildly printed dress, and Luci has on a fab, black dress with a tie around her waist. Luci is asking Vio if her little tummy is showing/bulging and Vio laughs and tells her nah, not so much. She tells Luci she looks beautiful. Vio is talking to Luci about Gagme, she'll make sure that bruja doesn't bother Luci. Luci doesn't want any confrontations with Gagme, but she tells Vio she is so NOT afraid of her. There is a knock and Vio goes to get it, it's Papa Claudio who loves Luci's dress, and as a matter of fact, she is reminding Claudio of her Mama Aurora. Luci is pleased and asks him about her little belly, he laughs and agrees with Vio about no, it isn't bulging and he and Vio laugh and they all three go to Melissa's professional exam.
University, D.F. Melissa's University
Everyone is gathered at the University to hear Melissa's professional exam. The two sides are divided, Linares on the left, Torreslandas on the right. Conny is nervous and elated for Melissa. Oscar thinks she will do fine and Aldo is putting his two cents into it too by saying this is the only professional exam in the family as far as her kids go. Oscar now tells Aldo, guess what buddy, not really, but he does tell Aldo that his Mama is movin' in with him!!!!! Aldo is like, say what, and Mama you didn't bother to tell me? Conny doesn't think this is the right time and place to discuss this and they go. Melissa has come in, sharply dressed I might add, and goes to greet Claudio and Luci. Melissa tells Claudio and Luci she is very nervous. Claudio tells Melissa she will do just fine and to be calm. Vio also tells Melissa not to worry and good luck. Now what do we have here??? It's the grand entrance of the royal, er, Torreslanda couple, Rosa and Max of course. Both have the major royal stinkeye of disdain going and Melissa, Claudio and Luci across the room are giving it right back at cha. Max comments that there's Linares. Rosa reminds him that Linares helped Melissa with her thesis and is probably there to assist her. She tells him she's only stating the obvious. Rosa actually goes over to greet them and Max stays where he is. Rosa goes up to the group and greets Claudio, who greets her right back. Max finally comes over and greets Claudio by saying, Good Afternoon, partner in that sarcastic way he has. Claudio just says Maximino. Rosa next greets Luci and Luci says hi back. Rosa says she's happy for her neice and she's nervous for her, as if. Rosa is hugging Melissa and Luci turns her back, before she gets sick, nah, but you get the pic. Luci is also rolling her eyes at her Papa. Rosa excuses herself and her and Max go to sit on the other side of the room. Melissa sits down at the big table in front and the examination panel comes in. It is three men and a lady and the head panelist is a older gentleman, whom Melissa addresses as Professor. Luci says a little prayer for Melissa. Rod and Luci are sneaking peeks at each other with lots of looks of love. Melissa tells the panel she is ready and the professional exam begins.
In The Hood, Estelita's Apartment
Estelita, Marianita, Polo and Fabian are having a nice lunch and Lorenzo comes in carring a nice suit he is wearing to Melissa's professional exam. Estelita hands him a freshly ironed white shirt. He thanks her muchly. The guys are teasing him about getting all spiffied up for a professional exam watching and Marianita pipes up that it must be because of Hanna. Polo also pipes up, oh the girl that came in with her novio and what happened next. Lorenzo doesn't really answer and goes to change.
Het Het
Paz, Ariche, and Magda are walking and talking. Ariche wants to know when Luci is coming back. Paz doesn't know. Don Perfecto, the town tailor, runs into Paz, Magda and Ariche, and has a light blue suit with plastic over it. They greet Don P and Ariche wants to know what is up with the suit. Don P says it is for Don A's wedding. Ariche says, what wedding, there is no wedding. Didn't you hear. Well Don P isn't buying it. Magda and Paz look very uncomfortable. Magda even tells Don P there isn't gonna be no wedding. Don P still wants to be paid for that suit and is going to see Don A about this. The Chisme Ladies pick this time to get the good gossip from Paz and Magda about what they just heard. Magda chases them off and tells them none ya. They go. Magda is worried sick about Vio now, and Paz tells her to be calm and they go.
In The Hood, Estelita's Apartment
Ofelia has come in with a nice, new uniform she will be wearing at Torreslanda when she starts tomorrow. Fabian and Polo are very happy for Ofelia and her new office job. Ofelia tells them that Pato is very nice. Polo lets Fabian know he did get a new job too at another antro. They all congrat him and Fabian reminds him if it doesn't work out, he can always come work with them in the taco bidness. Estelita is proud they are all good, hard workers. There is a knock and then a strut through the door, and you'll never guess who it is, anyone, that's right, Mr. I Aint got no bidness bein' here, but strutting in anyways. It's Boris of course with a mile long sneer on his fugly face. He wants to know where Lorenzo is at. Fabian tells him not here, go away, not go away, but he wants to. Mari lets it slip that Lorenzo went to Melissa's professional exam while the adults try to shush her. Boris tells Fabian to let Lorenzo know he is lookin for him and he too slithers off. Ofelia wants to know what is up with that guy. Fabian tells her that was Boris the novio of Hanna and that the dude doesn't like Lorenzo.
Melissa's University
Lorenzo all dressed up and spiffy is looking for the exam room where Melissa is. He is peeking in windows to find it.
Melissa has started her exam. It seems to be an oral disertation on her thesis. The panel asks her questions and she goes into her thesis in depth. I don't know what the subject is, I think it is a combination of Social Work and Law. Somebody please elaborate, there were alot of percentages in there too. Rod and Luci are still sneaking that look of love at each other, and then Lorenzo comes stumbling into that exam room, causing the exam to halt. He excuses himself and goes to sit down while the Torreslanda side, specifically Rosa and Max, give Lor the stink eye and Hanna gives him those sneak peeks of love too. The exam continues.
Het Het
Don P has come to Don A's lair and wants to know about the wedding, and shows him the suit he made for Don A. Don A hates the color, ok, wait a minute, didn't Don A pick this color out himself, jus' sayin'. Don A proceeds to tell Don P, I guess noone told you, but there aint gonna be no weddin. Don P says he's been working hard on this suit and no, noone bothered to tell him and by the way he wants payment for this suit. Don a says he will pay. Don P leaves the suit with Don A and goes.
University. Melissa's Exam
Melissa's oral exam continues she then finishes. The Professor asks Melissa if that is the end. She says it is. He asks Melissa and the audience to please go outside while they confer about this professional exam and the outcome. They all stand up to go, and Conny goes to Melissa and kisses her head. Everyone has gone outside now and Melissa is still with the Linares group. Luci and Claudio congrat Melissa on her excellent thesis. Luci thinks she did quite well and Melissa says she was very nervous. Behind them Aldo is lounging against the window and Lor and Vio are talking. Melissa excuses herself and goes to talk to her Mama Conny. Mati comes over and greets Luci and tells her she never abandoned her and she misses her. Luci gives her a hug and tells her she misses her too. Mati then says, where are my manners and greets Claudio also. Luci wants Mati to come visit her pueblo when Estelita does so they can have a visit there. Luci tells Claudio that Mati is a good person and treated her well at the Torreslandas when she was there. Claudio tells Luci he has known Mati for over twenty years and she is a sweet and generous person. Wow. Mati thanks Claudio and Luci reminds her about the visit and Mati says she'll try but mostly gets Sunday's off cause she is at the beck and call of her nina Roselena, not really, but you get the drift and Mati also takes care of Pato. Luci asks her to try and gives Mati a big ole hug. The Torrelandas are across the way and when they see Mati hugging Luci, Hanna, Pato and Rod all smile and Rosa has that look of disdain on her face! Now Rosa is lighting into Rod with and where oh where is Gagme and stop lookin' at Luci. He informs his loca Mama he doesn't know where she is, probably at the apartment. Rosa lights into Rod and tells him Gagme should be with him as in tied to him by the rocks he doesn't have all the time. Gagme should have been here. Rod goes to talk to Max and kinda places Hanna in his place. Rosa is pithed about Rod's attitude about his marriage. Pato asks her what marriage? You are supposed to love the person you are married to and Hanna pipes in too and says Rod only married Gagme for the bebe, he doesn't love Gagme. Max and Rosa are about to get into it again, about various points of disagreement, when Oscar and Conny step in to stop it. This is neither the time nor the place to be bickering, this is Melissa's day, after all. Max goes to congrat Melissa, he tells her he is very proud of her and he loves her and she hugs him and tells him she loves him too. Meanwhile, Rosa has gone over to the Linares' side and she is crooking her finger at Lorenzo. The nerve of this woman. Well Lorenzo gets up and says ya talkin' to me??? Not really , but he does ask her if she wants to speak with him and by the way, my name is Lorenzo he tells her. Rosa with her rude self, says she doesn't care what his name is. Rosa tells him to stay away from her daughter Hanna, cause she knows he was trying to scale that wall to see her, and if he doesn't stay away from Hanna she is gonna call the cops on him and furthermore she'll send him to la carcel, as if. Rosa tells him to listen to her well, her Hanna is so not for him, and with her disdainful stinkeye looks him up and down like he is some kinda trash, the nerve of this woman. Then she barks at him to go back and sit down. Quelle Horror!!!!! She struts her bad self off as if , well another job well done. Lorenzo gives her his own stinkeye to her retreating back.
The Hood, Estelita's Apartment
Polo, Fabian, Ofelia and Marianita are eating and Mari gives Ofelia a drawing she did for her mama. Ofelia is very happy. The phone rings and Ofelia goes to answer, of course it is her everlasting pain in the butt, stalker, Lastra. Ofelia tells him again to quit bothering her. Lastra wants her to meet him in the park tomorrow. Ofelia tells him no. He wants her to listen, he loves her very much, she doesn't have to say anything, and he'll be waiting at that park tomorrow. Ofelia hangs up on him and looks scared. Later, Ofelia tells Fabian about the phone calls and that Lastra keeps pursuing her. Ofelia doesn't want anything from Lastra or anything to do with him she tells Fabian. Fabian tells Ofelia to watch out for that dude, he is very bad and the cops are looking for him and the money from Club Inferno.
University, Exam Room
The panel has called everyone back in and Melissa is seated at the exam table again. The panel gives their judgement. Melissa gave a very great presentation of her professional exam and has passed with honors. Everyone claps and Melissa is over the moon. Conny, Aldo and Oscar all come give Melissa a hug and congrats.
Champagne Queen's Bubbly Place
Champagne Queen, her bff Carolla and Gagme are sitting around talking. Carolla and Champagne Queen are quaffing the favorite of the house which is the bubbly of course. Gagme fills Carolla in on CQ's planes of trying to get a job at Torreslanda to be a bidness woman, what planet is CQ from, jus' sayin', when Gagme's phone rings and it's her wonderful, mother-in -law, not, Rosa of course. She is filling Gagme in of course bout Rodrigo es Mio's 'tude of course and that Luci is there too. Gagme gets off the phone and flings it of course. CQ wants to know what that was all about. Gagme has no respect for Melissa either and she lets CQ know what happened about Melissa and Luci being there.
University
Melissa receives a hug from Mati and congrats and Rod is next. He even picks up Melissa and hugs her, he is proud she got honors. Now Luci goes up to hug Melissa, and I have to say here, accidently on purpose, bumps into Rod. That is the way I saw it and I'm stickin' to it. I am a hopeless romantic, can't help it. They share that long look of love again and even Melissa notices. Rod goes and Luci now hugs Melissa. Melissa tells Luci now that Luci is done with the prepa she could go to university too. Luci says she will. Claudio tells Melissa she is very intelligent and Max is looking over, giving the stinkeye of disdain. Claudio thanks Melissa for letting him be a part of her work. Max picks this time to clap to get everyone's attention. Using his fake form of noblesse oblige he informs everyone that the Torreslanda's are having a dinner for Melissa and yes, everyone is invited. Melissa tells them sorry no can do, cause Claudio has already planned for this very dinner. Claudio, using his real noblesse oblige invites the Torreslandas to his dinner. Rosa of course pipes up her and Max can't make it, so sorry ,so sad but they are having a little dinner on their own, si mi amor she tells Max. Max, put on the spot, has to agree to her whims. Aldo begs off, he's got something he has to do. Pato and Rod take Claudio up on his offer. Hanna wants to go too, but Rosa is dragging her off, telling her not today, not another word, she is going with them, poor Hanna, sucks to be you. Poor Hanna doesn't want to go with them but is forced to. Next to beg off is Lorenzo, he feels kinda bummed out Hanna won't be there, they try to get him to come anyways but then Vio begs off too, and takes Lorenzo with her. So Claudio escorts Melissa and Luci on each of his arms and Oscar and Conny are coming too!
Melissa's Celebratory Dinner Brought To You By The Linares Family
Claudio thanks everyone for coming to this joyful, festive occasion in celebration of Melissa. Melissa is so very happy and thanks them all for being with her, but she wishes Hanna had been allowed to come too, poor Hanna sucks to be her.
Uncelebratory Dinner of Max and Rosa
Max and Rosa are in a fine dining establishment, not their home by the way, and Hanna and Mati are not with them. I think Mati probably took Hanna home and they had their own little dinner. Anyhoo, Max can't decide what to order from the menu. Rosa is applying the silent treatment, and won't answer Max. Max wants to know what the hey is up with Rosa now. Max asks Rosa if she is pithed cause all her kids are traitors, nah, good thought though, went to the dinner with Claudio and Luci instead of them. Rosa finally talks, well really accuses Max that she knows who Max's lover is. Now are y'all ready, really, cause Rosa is namin names, jus' sayin'. She remembers that V from the text and of course accuses Violetta the friend of Luci as being his lover. Poor Vio. Max starts laughing and can't stop, he says Vio of all people. He looks at his menu still having a case of the guffaws. Well, who should come into the restaurant to have an intimate dinner of their own? I'll tell you, it's Aldo and Vicky the real lover of Max. Well at first, when Vicky spots them, she wants to haul butt out of there as does Aldo, but wait a sec she changes her mind and says why not. Vicky drags Aldo back in and says lets go. So Vicky, this girl has some HUGE AVACADOES, I must say, sorry for the El Tal reference, couldn't help myself, anyhoo, Vicky struts right up to Rosa and Max's table with Aldo on her arm and greets Rosa! Vicky is giving her smarmy eye look to Max. Rosa is shocked and Aldo, well Aldo is very nervous.
Police Headquarters
Marcial, Mr Lemon Sucking Face, is meeting with his boss again. The boss wants to know how the hunt for Lastra is going. Ivan wouldn't give Marcial any info. Marcial, oh noes, has another idea about how to get info and that would be ALDO!!!! He was a preferred customer at Club Inferno and was always hanging around and must have seen the comings and goings and anyways he might know who the big boss at Club Inferno is, Ruh Roh!
Back To The Noncelebratory Dinner of Rosa and Max
Vicky apologizes for interrupting their dinner but she hasn't seen Rosa in quite some time. Rosa says she's fine and Vicky is attempting to look at her manicure, but Rosa pulls her hand away, probably thinking QTH is my hand sanitizer, the lowly one touched me. Anyhoo, Vicky tells her to come on down to the salon or better yet, she could always come to Rosa's home, Ruh Roh. Vicky finally greets Max in an off handed fashion and Max, are you ready for this one, asks them to join he and Rosa, lol. Vicky and Aldo just look at him and Rosa objects and says they probably want to have dinner alone, you know Aldo and his little friend. Well Vicky corrects Rosa and says Aldo isn't my friend as a matter of fact we are novios! Ruh Roh. See, I told you Vicky had some avacadoes. Max is giving his nephew and Vicky the major stink eye here. Vicky has grabbed Aldo very close to her and holds him and Aldo tells his Tio Max and Tia Rosa, that in fact they are novios and Aldo is looking like he wants to be very far away from here and this is where we end the evening.

Thanks so much Mads. Great job retelling all the looks that passed between everyone-- Rod/Luci, Lorenzo/Hannah, the TLs/the Linares, etc. Rosa was at her bitchy best with Lorenzo. When she said SIT DOWN!, I had the urge to sit down myself. LOL! Poor Lorenzo. Threats to his life that he doesn't even know about from Rosa AND Boris. Audrey- Yes, early on I found out that tidbit and told the El Tal group. From that point on we spoke of the galan's avocadoes, or lack thereof. :)
I have now added two more to my stalkers list Boris and Lastra What is with these losers. We are ending up with more stalkers then stalkees at this point.

Thank you Vivi, Judy, Anita and now Madelaine for a wonderful, entertaining, insightful, funny week of recaps. A busy one for me so I join the week four days in.
Avacados from the Aztecs... wow ... that's some reference! And here I thought you were saying Vicki has small boobs. She never said her name so Rosa could hear the V and have a light bulb moment. And when Vicki called Aldo 'Tigrito,' well that's in the same cutesy vein as 'Osito' so maybe Rosa will put two and two together for the light bulb to go on. I was really stunned that Vicki put on that big show. She has way more avocados than Aldo because she thinks she has nothing to lose.
What did Melissa say .. that she would never tell Claudio that she is gaga for him? She has, imo, the kind of crush a college girl gets on a favorite professor. Something like idol worship, but it's temporary.
Same with Jana and Lorenzo. Looks like puppy love, sexual attraction without any maturity behind it. I figured Lorenzo didn't want to go to dinner because he'd gotten a big ol' verbal punch in the stomach and wasn't hungry. Rosa's only goal and pleasure in life is controlling her family. What a waste!
The episode of the tres trajes! Somebody had fun tying those three story lines together with suits in clear plastic bags.
It was a beanie moment (I remember that reference from the Limavela days .. not sure if that's where it started though) when Lastra, with his mouth of false teeth, fell in love with Ofelia. Now it's a super-beanie-tightening moment that he's so in love that he's phone stalking her at his own peril. Too weird, but she'll probably be a link to turning him in or getting info. But now that she works at Torreslanda she could have a real conflict of self-interest if she finds herself knowing too much.
I do love the way Gala has Juli's number. Those two go back and forth as to who is the mother and who the daughter, but Gala functions in the real world and every time she sensibly wants to cut loose from Rod's maltreatment, Juli is there to talk her out of it. Bad, bad combo.
Luci surprised me with her citified black dress and trendy short boot look. Vio just seemed uncomfortable through the episode, like she didn't belong there, which she kinda doesn't with this crowd since she's only starting to grow beyond her hoochie mama persona and still looks it.

Such a great recap Madelaine. I enjoyed this episode ( well, could have done without the Lastra and Don A interruptions), and especially loved the very subtle touches the actors put in last night. Some were totally off conversation, so I was missing dialog while watching people.
One of my favs...Rod reaching his break point with Mumsy and very physically moving Janna into his place to get away from her. The look on Janne's face--priceless.
Yep, poor Hanna sucks to be her.
It always cracks me up to watch the high and mighty attitude Rosa pulls, and tonight both she and Max came off as two stick up their---well you know, patricians. Their continued distain at CL, who did nothing to them and yet they still treat as the "enemy" is actually backfiring as noone seems to be buying into it any longer besides them. Loved the symbolism of noone joining Max and Rosa at dinner, and her own children willing to move to the CL side. Shades of things to come.
So now I get the clone look of the women at Torreslanda...guess I never caught on those were "uniforms". Was wondering how Ofelia was going to dress for work being she had no money for a wardrobe-problem solved there. Still not feeling her and Pato, but there has to be a plot purpose to having her work there. Maybe she will be the one to overhear Max on something...or heaven help that company, if the Champagne Queen gets a job there, she'll be on to her too. Lastra in love--now theirs a nauseating thought. Met her how many times and she never gave him the time of day. What is with this stalker thing?
Speaking of Queenie--what would she do as a job? Personally, she could share Aldo's office. About all I can see her qualified for. Ohhhh, or work in the cafeteria--I bet she could rock a hairnet. GT laughing at her mother was pretty funny. Lot of love and respect there---NOT.
Sucks to be Lorenzo too. So I'm thinking that Boring will try to hunt down Lorenzo, and go to the corner where he USED to work. But He had decided to try the construction site, which means if Rosalite tries to do something there, he's going to think Polo is Lorenzo ( sort of same hair, etc. -- from the back might mistake them???) I still worry for Janna with this nut case too though.
Last note--loved how everyone looked last night. I mean Vio "dress" was well, short? But she still pulls it off. Luce was adorable and all the guys cleaned up well. Fun to see.

Emarie- Judy and other recappers here have many times said that telenovelas are fairytales for adults. Your observation is right on point. And yes, many here have noticed Luci's resemblance to Snow White. The night when Paz revealed the truth to her about CL, when Luci was wearing a white nightgown and Paz looked on her as she slept, was one time in particular when Luci looked like a mix between Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Her life from that moment on has not been the same, since Paz woke her up, not with a kiss, but with the truth. The transformation to princess has also not been as easy as it is in fairytales, as Luci has fought it every step of the way and was not eager to leave her old life behind.
I loved Luci's Het Het homemade outfits, and also I really like her citified version of those clothes- the long silk skirts, the long-sleeved silk blouses, and the patterned boleros and vests. I could do without the printed tees, but no one's wardrobe is perfect (except Rosa's). I am glad they haven't put her in too tight, too short, too much cleavage, too high heels hoochie clothing.

Emarie and Vivi- With you both about how this TN is like a fairy tale. Emarie are you a fan of Once Upon a Time on ABC? I know Vivi is. I swear that Rosa is like the Evil Queen in Once Upon a Time, all about control and she thinks she owns everyone.
Vivi- I forgot to comment on your comment about Rosa barking at Lor to sit down, had me thinking the same thing, lol. Rosa reminds me of the CC (Company Commander) I had in bootcamp, she was fond of barking like that, lol.
Judy- I liked Luci's dress cause it was simple and stylish and short. I was surprised it was short. I like her look, in whatever she wears, it is always simple and stylish. She is rather pale though. I am watching Mar de Amor in late night and she is all kinds of tan in that one. Here she is almost ghostly pale.
Marta- Thank you so much for what Hanna was eating. It almost looked like fried jimaca, I couldn't see the sauce she was dipping it in very well. No wonder Lula wanted some, lol. Oh and thanks for what she asked Gennaro for. He never came back so I was wondering if she told him to get her and Missy something or just told him something.

I think Jana was eating jicama sticks dipped in chili salt or some kind of seasoning. She sure looked funny with her cheeks stuffed full LOL!
I wonder now that Melissa is done with her education, if now she will work for Claudio, not a spoiler, I was just thinking about it. They would be a great professional team along with Lic. Barrerra.
Melissa is now going to be a Human Rights lawyer. That is an extremely dangerous job in Mexico. No long ago a female HR lawyer was abducted, beaten and raped. Amnesty International took on the case and the President of Mexico agreed to give her protection. A year later she was shot down on the street. Dangerous job for Melissa but then again so is being associated with Rosa of the killer glare.
Was wondering if Ofelia is going to be stupid enough to meet up with Lastra. If she has any brains she will call the police and then make the meet where he will be caught. Or at least let Fabian come along in secret to watch out for the dude. It is time he got caught and spilled the beans about the boss man. Then again maybe not.

Someone commented about Vi looking uncomfortable and out of place. i noticed that too. It was pretty much a family and close friends affair so that makes sense. Vi is a smart girl and I don't think it will take her long to lose the hoochie mama almost there dresses and leave her Infierno persona behind. On the other hand I hope she keeps it an uses it to put the Bruges in their rightful places if they dare to move against Luci. She's not Magda's daughter for nothing.

I am with you about Ofelia. I am really hoping she doesn't meet up with him at all. I think she was thinking that way, until she talked to Fabian who warned her off. I hope she calls Marcial and turns Lastra in, he is a stalker and dangerous. I am afraid he will try to kidnap her or something.

I too think, with time that Vio will lose her hoochy mama persona. Vio did what she had to do when she came to the D.F. as a young girl in order to work. I think now that she is done with the antro, and working as Luci's assistant her manner of dress will change. I like Vio in her jeans, they are normal. Her dresses are on the short side though. I think that will change.

I agree i can see an auto accident, maybe a loss of the baby and Rod hovering over her like a guilt ridden idiot. I also think she would then stretch out the accident and its consequence for a long time aided and abetted by Julie and Rosa. Let' face it we've all seen enough novelas where someone faked being blind, being paralyzed, having amnesia. I even saw a faked coma that lasted for six years. Julie and Gagme are capable of anything. At last an accident might distract Julie "I'm going to seduce Claudio" for a while.

Since we're all doing a red-carpet critique on fashions, I thought Luci's dress could have been a bit longer and flared, it would still have looked good with the boots but have been a little more citified, but other than that, she looked gracious and serene, as always, and daddy was proud to be with her.
Vio was inappropriately dressed for this occasion. She was not there to entertain and distract the panel, but maybe the only other thing she has to wear are jeans (they do look nice on her). Tell me, how does one sit down and not have the back of the dress ride up so you're just sitting on your thong (on leather seats)?
Melissa looked smashing. And Lorenzo? Be still my heart. He does NOT need to shave. Rod ought to shave; he reminds me too much of Bluto (sorry, Bluto) and Pato--always looks delicious enough to kiss those rosy lips. Roselena's wardrobe is always appropriate and fashionable.
The restaurant scene with Max, Rose, Aldo and Vicky were a hoot. I think Rose knows her name, because she frequented the nail salon, but maybe she's forgotten it and Aldo didn't introduce her by name, so no instant light bulb on her name starting with a V. Besides, she's already got her target.
I don't think Julie has had any experience working before. She's merely self-appointed herself as director of public relations. I wish they would give her a job in the copy center.

Hadn't pegged Rosa for the Evil Queen, but lordy, the looks she can give, and last night as she snapped her fingers at Lor was perfectly executed. Love the fact that the characters in Once are the same whether they are in the fairy tale or in Storybrook (the town).

Decie and gringo--re auto accident and losing the baby. Our very own Gagme did the same thing in CME when she lost her baby but continued to pretend to be pregnant until she went woopsie down the stairs.
Ditto- Gringo. I'll be amazed if something doesn't happen to her in that car. Frankly, I wouldn't put it past her crazy brain to do something purposefully. Heaven knows, she really has no affection for the baby, so wouldn't be worked up over the loss if that happened. But she sure could play at it. And if she didn't lose it, could she ever drag out that. Either way, Rod turns into a blithering, guilt-ridden mess is right, which is exactly what she would want.
Gringo- I could see that scenerio happening, but I really think would dump her then for sure. Right now he is there because of the bebe but if she hurts herself or is hurt in some way, he may feel guilty, but ultimately I think he would so dump her. He's been wanting to get rid of her now for awhile.

could you imagine if Gala fakes being 'paralized' from the accident just to keep Rod with her? (anyone remember the tn Luz Maria? that was the theme for first 2/3 of it)
Oh, Marta- I really hope that doesn't happen. I have only been watching TN's since Corazon Salvaje the 2009 version. I really hope that Gagme doesn't end up paralyzed. Then I think Rod may stay with her, ugh.

I don't think she would fake bing paralyzed, we already have one paralyzed character so that would be over kill. She could lose the baby and fake being pregnant, not too easy to do if she has a car crash) which would keep Rod bound to her until she could steal Luci's baby. That scenario plays out pretty well for me. With only 8 weeks or so to go they are going to have
start fast forwarding time to get those baby's born.
I still keep wondering if the mysterious Campos is going to make an appearance and be the whistle blower that brings down Max. I can see no reason why they had that conversation with him in the shadow. Some novela's have throw away scenes or characters but this one has been too tightly written to fall into that trap.

Decie Girl, I too wondered about the Pedro Campos character. They really wouldn't have introduced that if they weren't going to use it at some point. Time will tell I guess.
I also wonder when we will see the phantasma in Het Het. They must have used that for some reason too. It should be interesting.

I think Melissa deserves some kind of distinguished degree simply for going through an oral exam in front of all of her family and friends. Does that really happen in some countries?
On the other hand, I did wince at the idea that somehow Melissa was demonstrating brilliance by being able to give the year the UN was founded and the year the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted. I just kept telling myself she got high marks for exquisite poise, given that she had all her loved ones staring at her back.
I have fun watching Luciana's new style too, although that ornate bolo jacket the other was probably my favorite. Even though this dress was shorter, I think the wide belt still gave it just a little "campesino" touch.
