Amor Bravío #39 (Uni 34) Fri 10/5/12 Seeing Is Believing: Aaron’s Grand Entrance Leaves Dionisio With An Egg Facial

Cap.  39

Lo Del Pasado:
Dionisio throws Alonso under the bus and worms his way into placing himself through the back door as ranch manager for La Malquerida, vis-à-vis Agustina who’s just declared him “the most upright and honest man” that she knows—and, Gussie having such a sterling track record with men, who better to judge a book by its cover?   With Dan’s direction, Viviana sets the rest of the MI IV plan or, Operation Shine the Light, into motion by inviting everybody at La Malquerida to a surprise dinner party that Rafael is organizing for Camila for his book that same evening.

Cam has run into Mariano at the bank in town and discussed her needing a new ranch-manager at the M.Q., and her being there to change the signatures for the banking so she can do the payroll for the ranch employees (I think); and he’s told her that he also is responsible for the running of his daddy’s ranch along with Pablo.  He has offered to help her run the ranch—as a freebie--since he’s got the experience that she doesn’t.

Lo Del Nuevo:
Cami says thanks, but that’s too much responsibility for Mariano when he’s already got enough on his plate running his own place.  She doesn’t want to abuse his friendship.  However, they agree that she’ll call for advice whenever something gets a bit complicated and she runs into a problem.  In the meantime he could help her look for somebody permanent.

Dio and Gussie, meanwhile, have agreed to come to the surprise party, though Dio’s attitude toward Vivi is somewhat distant if not outright frosty.  In walks Ximena, straw sticking out of her hair (telltale signs of her literal roll in the hay with the ol’ BIL, lusting Lonnie-Come-Lately).  Gussie introduces Meana to Vivi and Dio tells her about the surprise party that evening.

Natalia finds Daniel outside in the shaded parts of the hacienda entrance and gives him word from Amanda that she’s found Trench the Hench’s, aka Julián’s, passport.  It shows he’s been to Chile recently.  She wants him to have some copies she’s made since she’s got to put back the passport where she found it, adds Nat. Dan worries that her mother’s taking too many risks with this, but Nat says knowing her mother, she won’t stop till she’s gotten to the bottom of things.

Hench follows Rafa to Vivi’s place.  Dio rings him on his cell a couple minutes later with a change of plans for a meet at La Luna Restaurant in a little while with a new job for him with Isadora’s house.  Gussie comes in with the maid holding a tray of coffee cups and sweetly asks if he’d like sugar.  She gets her head bitten off for her troubles.   Dionisio barks that she ought to learn that he takes it black (the color of his heart—that tiny little stony thing in the center of his chest with muddy ice-water running through it).

Back at Vivi’s, Rafa gives his brother Aaron a chance to back out if he wants to.  Aaron says no way; Dan’s a good guy and has proven himself with Rafa as a solid friend in need.  Just like Vivi, says Rafa, and neither one deserves the stuff that they’re going through right now!  Aaron agrees and adds that Viv’s an amazingly strong female, that despite the fact that she seems to be falling apart right now, she’ll manage to successfully confront her ex-husband.  Rafa underscores that sentiment.   “—If she doesn’t, then I sure will!  I refuse to let anybody ever hurt her again!”  Aaron looks at his brother with a discerning smile.  “—You say that as if you’ve got a thing for her.”  Rafa denies it.  ‘—Don’t exaggerate things! Camila, Viviana and Daniel are just very good friends.” The only ones he truly has in this place, he adds.

Back at the M.Q., D’Andres approaches Cam with the keys to her car and, as he gives them over, their hands touch again.  Again it’s electric!  (The sparks were literally leaping and spitting off my screen!) He leaves and then Luzma starts to walk past.  Cami grabs her and asks for an explanation for the other day.  Whatever in the world made her change her mind?  Luz Maria tells Cami that her wedding and her love for Pablo are now simply in the past.   Cam says her 180° change in attitude doesn’t make any sense.  It just doesn’t gibe, but since Gussie needs to talk to Camila, Luzma makes her escape.   Cami yells after her that they're going to finish this conversation later.

Dio joins Gussie, who mentions she heard Cam went over to see him the other day.  Cam tells her Mama that he should have told her they cleared up their differences.  Dio takes the moment to explain that since then her mother mentioned the difficulty she’d had with Alonso, the two of them talked it over and from now on Cam has no worries: he’ll be her new ranch-manager!  Cam is the-hell-you-say-impactada.  (Thanks be to the telenovela gods for writing in ingenious friends and acquaintances, aka guardian angelitos, like Lic. Osvaldo Becerra!!)  Cami’s bull-sh!t radar goes up.

Across the way at Hacienda La Buenaventura, Mariano is  acting like a kid with high school crush over Cami.  He mentions to Yago that he ran into Camila Monterde at the bank today.  He does a little happy-dance and admits that he really, really, REALLY likes Camila a heck of a lot!  Each time they meet, he’s more convinced that there is not another woman like her!  Yago says he thought she was married.  Yeah, says Mariano, but not for long cuz she was there to change the signature on the checks and said she was in need of a new ranch manager, that her husband used be the one handling all that.  Yago tells him that if she is single, and he and she got together and joined their two ranches that would be tremendous!!  But, he should settle things with Ana first.  Mariano’s bouncybubble bursts.  “--Oh, yeah.  Ana.” (Makes me sort of wonder if this guy’s really fickle or what when it comes to females…  So much for his  true love lecture to Luzma.)

Back at La Malquerida Cami says politely, thanks but no thanks.  She’s already hired somebody.  Mama Metiche states unequivocally—at least in her pea-brain sized mind—that there is simply nobody more qualified to run the ranch but Dionisio; she must simply call the other person and retract the offer.  Cami, to her credit, stands her ground and respectfully says No Can Do.  Mama Metiche feels Cam, as a woman, could not possibly run such a big place on her own; and anyway, how can she be sure this person is any good?  Oh, he has plenty of experience, believe me, replies Cami.  “--It’s Mariano Alberrán from the neighboring ranch, who manages it for his father.”

Double-talking Dio starts backtracking now and then asks Cami if there are any hard feelings from the earlier misunderstanding.  Well, of course not, she says.  The fact of the matter is that as soon as things blew up with Alonso, her first thought was of Mariano since he’s been running things there and knows all about this sort of business; besides Dio’s background is in something else, isn’t it?  (Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding!!!  REEE-JECTED!!!!)  Dio’s nasty frown momentarily darkens his face.  He struggles to hide the agitation he feels at being crossed and shot down by anybody, especially a freakin’ female.  However, he successfully humbles himself in front of Cami and waits to fight another day and in another way.  Cam heads off to her office.

Gussie apologizes for her daughter’s refusal to accept him and says she had no idea she’d already found somebody else.   He says he’s just as sorry and forces back the gag reflex at her fish-lipped pucker when pecking her good-bye.

Cami enters her office, tells Nat to find a couple of things there for her, and immediately calls over to La Buenaventura.  Mariano answers.  Cam tells him she’s reconsidered and does want him to be the new ranch manager.  They agree to meet the next day before noon to go over the details of the job since they’d already agreed to meet about the Stockman’s Association tribute to her Tío.  Nat’s worried she no longer has a job, but Cami says now she’ll be Don Mariano’s secretary instead and sends her off to find the payroll [nómina] list so the ranch hands can get paid [rayar=to do payroll, to pay wages to].

Meanwhile, Alonso has paid a visit to his favorite shady sales rep to arrange for a bunch of backdated invoices [facturas] for a farm tractor and various and sundry other farm-related items.  Not-So-Slim-Shady says ok, but you’d better be good for the cash and not forget my cut of the take!

Back near the stables at the M.Q., Cami hands out the pay envelopes and has to tell the ranch hands that Alonso is no longer owner or boss of this ranch.  They’ll be dealing with her from now on.  D’Andres comes last.  She can’t hide a special smile for him.  On the other hand, Leoncio leers over, disgusted at the two of them, and slouches back to his lair.

Over at los Albarrán, Mariano is beside himself at his good luck.  He’s going to have a real chance now, he explains excitedly to Yago, at getting to know Camila and seeing if there’s a chance for a big-time romance with her.  In walks Pablo.  Yago says he and Pablo can take the opportunity to select the bulls for the review that will be on display.  Pablo says nothin’-doin’ cuz he’s never setting foot on that rancho again!  (A sigh goes up all over Viewerville for El Pobre de Pablito.)

D’Andres gets his pay envelope and once Nat’s gone, hands Cami a note from Vivi telling her to get dolled up for a night on the town.   He wonders if she’ll need him to drive.  Yes, she tells D’Andres, she’ll need him to drive her over since she doesn’t feel comfortable driving at night.  He starts in with the leading, romantic double-entendres, telling her he’s there for her day or night…..She pretends to ignore him.  He starts flirting and asks if she liked the rose he left her; she lies and says she threw it into the trash.  Knowing she’s lying, he pulls out another type of flower from under his jacket and shows this to her.  “—Okay then I’ll leave you a flower you do like, like this one.”  She pretends to be angry with him, but can’t really carry it off.  She walks away as he starts pulling at the petals, saying “she loves me, she loves me not.”  Cami turns around and smiles, then walks off before she forgets her place since he’s already forgotten his—not that either of them really cares.)

That night, D’Andres helps Cami out of the car.  Their hands are in another sensual clasp and each looks momentarily into the other’s eyes.  Dan drops his grasp and speaks a bit haltingly.  “—Pardon me…but with all due respect, you do…look very lovely tonight.”  She smiles wanly and turns on her heel, heads to the gate to ring the bell.  She takes a moment and looks beguilingly over at him.  He respectfully lowers his eyes and looks back at her through his half lowered lids.  Out comes Vivi and the hint of romance in the moment is shattered.  Cami offers D’Andres a wad of bills so he can eat at a nice restaurant somewhere.  (Tacky, awkward move, Cam.)  He says thanks, but it’s not necessary.  Ok.  They let him know they’ll be at a place near the town square [el zócalo].  Once they’re gone, he changes his charro tie and jacket for a hoodie, and now skulks through the shadowy streets.

Inside the party room at the restaurant, Mama Metiche introduces Meana to Rafa.  Just as they take their seats who should show up as uninvitees but Hisssadora and Komodo Dodo.  Gussie is somewhat perturbed, but Meana, from the looks of things, made sure those two got the word and made an entrance.  “—They said it was a surprise party for Camila, right?”  They certainly did, replies Meana with a not-so-innocent roll of the eye.  Rafa doesn’t flinch an inch.  He rolls to the side of these two steamrolling gate-crashers and remains the affable and unflappable host.  Loathsome Lon plops himself down with an obnoxious smirk into the chair next to his slutty SIL.  “--After all we are the husband and the mother-in-law.”   Gussie mentions their being there will probably make Cami uncomfortable.  Hisssadora offers to leave (counting on the fact that none there would be rude or bold enough to insist) but Rafa won’t hear of it and takes their drink orders.  A couple minutes later in walk Viv and Cam.  Cam looks around the table at all the seated guests and asks what’s up.  Viv just smiles sheepishly.

At the same time, Hench (sans the trench) short-circuits the electrical wiring in Isssadora’s living room and starts an electrical fire.

At the restaurant, Rafa explains this dinner is to thank her for her support during the writing of his book.  Gussie gushes about how nice it was that Vivi came by and invited ALL the guests to this lovely dinner party.  Hisssa fakes a toothy wide-mouth grin and says that yes, they all there love her and support her despite any past differences or misunderstandings they’ve had.  Cami nods yes I’m sure and makes a mental note to take a large grain of salt with every word uttered from dear MamaDora’s maw when swallowing the old broad’s brand o’ swill.  Rafa now suggests that everybody pose for a group picture that he could publish in his book.  Viv says she forgot her camera and needs to go to the car for it, but just then the waiter comes up and says they have included a photographer who could take a picture of the three of them.   Aaron casually enters the room, unnoticed, wearing a ball cap and wire-rims.

As the guests leave to go into the other room send for the photographer, Daniel sneaks in and spies on the group through a vented wall/pantry (?).  The others line up in front of that wall and just as the lady photographer snaps the camera Aaron sneaks in just behind them and full center so that his face will be included in the picture.

The group of guests breaks off and walks away.  Vivi mentions to Cami that no way did she invite Hisssadora or her spawn.    Doesn’t surprise Cam that the two of them crashed her party.  They take pictures of the three of them and while Rafa gets copies made, Cami pulls Viv to the side and thanks her for the nice gesture.  She also lets Viv know that she feels Viv’s pain over the loss of her child.    She can always count on Cami’s moral and emotional support.  They share a sisterly hug.   Viv then tells Cami that it makes her glad to know that Cami has discovered her cousin isn’t the brut he was initially believed to be.

Rafa enters the male lounge and checks in with Aaron.  He calls Dan on his cell to see if Hench is anywhere around.  Dan says for some odd reason the guy hasn’t shown up tonight.   He tells them he’ll head over to the B&B to see if he’s there with Amanda and Nat.  Aaron gets the all clear and tells them he can come out.

The group makes small talk about when Viv met Rafa--three months earlier when he needed a photographer for the book—and how she’d been living there about a year at the time, and then that Rafa met Camila through her.   The three of them are great friends and consider Cami a jewel, says Vivi, and she’s sure all the world will make tracks lovely Hacienda La Malquerida once the book’s published.   Meana brings up Dio as the place’s new ranch manager.   Hisssadora’s head comes up and her rattles start vibrating as Al asks what Ximeana means by Mama’s boyfriend becoming the new ranch manager?  Dio refuses to look Al in the eye.

Across town at Isssa’s place, Hench stays just long enough to admire his handiwork and make sure the blaze isn’t in danger of going out.  He texts Dio on his cell as he leaves.

At the restaurant, Al pulls a mini-hissy fit and complains about Dionisio’s high-handed and audacious attitude.  Dio explains that it was only an offer to assist now that he’s to be a part of the family.  Hisssa throws her napkin and says the two of them should have been advised and that they’re leaving.  As Mamadora and K-Dodo angrily push away from their chairs, Dio asks them to sit back down and let him finish.  His offer was refused because Cami had already hired somebody else.  K-Dodo turns around to Cam and spits out a “and whom might that be????”  Dio names Mariano Albarrán and Cami confirms it.  This is a hell of a pisser for said family of hisssers.  They are miffed over having been duly stiffed and their pride so suitably biffed.   They slither out of the restaurant in a hell of a huff and Katie bar the door!     Dio gets his text and excuses himself.

Dan shows up at the B&B and enters the kitchen meanwhile.  Amanda tells him Hench has been gone the whole day and nobody has any idea where to.  She hands him over the copies of the passport’s pages she made.  He notes that Hench entered and exited Chile a couple of days after he was notified of his new inheritance, which proves that he was in the country during the incident and attempt on his life which ended up killing Miriam.  One day later they received his supposed “death notice.”  Amanda and Nat tell him to keep that paperwork safe and to hand it over as proof when he goes to the police to make his complaint.  Nat also mentions that Alonso is caput as manager and that Cami is bringing in Mariano Albarrán for the job.  In the meantime, she adds, Cami got her to transfer all the files and official paperwork along with his computer into her office, so now he can use his computer skills to track down anything else that could be useful when making his case to the police.  Dan agrees and says there could be external communications and such to prove his innocence to the police.  “—Or to Camila.”

Dio races after Al and Isa.  Alonso immediately accuses Dio of double-dealing, swearing that he really wants Cam, the M.Q. and the whole nine yards, leaving him and Mamadora out of the game.  Dionisio loses it and essentially tells Al to stop thinking with his crotch and instead to use his brain.  The rancho is their priority.  They’re supposed to be on the same team here and he had to do something to keep Camila under control since they were going to be leaving the rancho.  Isssa swears she’d never leave that ranch and had other plans.   She and Dio agree at least that Alonso needed to stick around there at the ranch whatever way he could maneuver it in order to stay aware of Camila’s every move but that now it’s such a mess because he wouldn’t listen to her.   Isssa changes the subject then and asks Dio if he at least took care of what she asked him to.  Dio says of course he did and that Julian just called him to say her house is totally in flames at this point.    Dio warns El Loco de Lon that the peevish little scene he pulled in the restaurant didn’t help matters, either.  All three of their necks are on the line here and so he’d better walk on eggshells from now on or their efforts could be seriously impaired [perjudicar=handicapped, harmed, damaged].

Dan is in the shadows across the street and getting one hell of an earful with all the yelling and kvetching from this non-gleesome threesome.    He sighs and shakes his head in disgust.  “—So that’s why Julian never showed up tonight.”

Dio comes back into the room.  Ximeana fakes a headache and has Cami fetch ”her driver” to take her home.  The pictures are passed out.  Suddenly Cam is in shock.  She looks at the group photo and notes that her cousin, Daniel, is in the picture.  “—That’s impossible!  But he’s here!  Daniel is in the picture and he’s alive and here somewhere!”  They begin checking throughout the restaurant.

On the drive back to the M.Q., Ximeana starts flirting with D’Andres.  “—Wow, but you are handsome!  I’d imagine you to be anything but a chauffeur.”

Back at the restaurant, Dio demands to know from the head waiter where the man in the photo has gone.  Obviously the waiter draws a blank, and then mentions there was a young man with a ball cap and glasses seated at one of the tables, but he left a while ago.  Dio gets on his high-horse and turns to Rafa.   He accuses Rafa of being in the know and playing games with them about DDA, because after all he’s his friend!!  Rafa demands to know why he should know he’s a friend of DDA’s.  “—Errr….b-b-because Agustina told me, that’s how!”  Cara de that’s-news-to-me de Gussie.   Rafa tells Dio that he refuses to be talked to in that manner and  neither will he give him any explanation about DDA or anything else for that matter!   (100 Bonus points to Team Camila!  Great way to stand up to that braggadocious blowfish!)

Xi keeps fishing on the way home for details about D’Andres’s past.  “—Where you from?  You sure don’t sound like you’re from here!”  Dan deflects and asks how her “headache” is.  She pretends she’s still weak and has a pill but no water to take it with.  He hands her a bottle of water and she notices the birthmark on his wrist matches the one on her leg.  Ruh-Roh!!!  (Family tree branch alert!)  She asks if he’s the only one in his family to have one.   He answers that there were no siblings, only his mom and him and his father and mother are both dead now, so he wouldn’t know.  “—Well, I think it’s something pretty sexy.  Don’t you?”  Dan ignores the question.

At the restaurant again, Cami asks Dio to dial it down.  He tells her it’s just too much of a coincidence that DDA appears at the restaurant at a dinner Rafa arranged so that they can make fools of them all.  Vivi says, wait a doggone minute here!  I was the one who chose the restaurant.  Dio accuses her of being a friend of DDA’s also.  Rafa asks why he’s so interested in him anyway.  “--W-w-well I am looking out for Camila and her mother!”   Cami says thanks but no thanks to Dio.  (Viewerville says thanks and thanks again to the telenovela gods for that.)  Gussie has to admit that it really is strange way for the guy to act whether he’s as decent as Rafa says or a felon like the police say.  Look, says Cam, I’m the one who’s in charge here and I say now that we know he’s alive it simply remains for us to find him.  At least we know and it’s resolved.   She turns to Dio.  “--In the meantime, I’m asking you to please stay out of it.  [Mantenerse al margen=don’t get involved]   Don’t do anything without my knowledge.”

Rafa and Vivi smile at each other and share a knowing nod.   Success!

Happy Saturday morning all. Although I got the gist of last night's episode there remains much that I need the recap and your comments to clarify. So while awaiting the recap, I say lets get some "pre recap" comments going:-)

Did the plan work?

Que quiere decir "este mujer se puso mal"

I'm not sure what the plan was intended to do. If it was intended to make Camila more distrustful of El Diablo, I'd say it worked. Unless he had actual designs on the property why would he try to become its administrator and/or why would it bother him that Daniel is alive and in their midst?

He will try to weasel out of this by saying that he was deceived by the Chilean officials with the fake death certificate, but none of Camila's circle will believe him.

Dionisio had a bad day with some temper tantrums. Thought the plan somehow involved Dionisio's henchman that was following Daniel. Instead he went to arson Hisadora's viper nest. Guess she will be a permanent guest at La Mal.

Oh crap! Are Daniel and Ximena related? Their ringworm like birth marks says maybe.

Finally a TN where the good guys get some payback of the bad guys without having to wait til 10 minutes before the wedding.

Cesar was great the last two nights, his looks of disdain and discomfort along the way. His slip with Augustina, scolding her about the coffee, was a sign of things to come.

The whole Vivi-Daniel-Rafa plan was so deliciously executed, deliberate and ambiguous at the same time. Anita's description of the plot is excellent. There's also an element, I think, of simply putting the bad guys on notice, confusing them and forcing more of their evil to manifest itself in ways that will matter as Daniel tries to prove his innocence.

The birthmark. I had forgotten about that, trying to block it out of my memory. That means that he and Camila are not primos, but also must mean that Augustina, in her devotion to the older Daniel, most have had an intimate relationship with him. That raises some interesting inheritance questions, no. Or perhaps less likely, Ximena's nasty and absent father had something to do with Agatha. That seems far-fetched, but we did hear a fair amount about him last night.

Anything that keeps it going and avoids cliches and delays is fine for me.

Will they ever get Alonso and Isadora about of the house, by the way? With the loss of her casita, Isadora will no doubt play on their sympathy.

One of the two of them (Ximena/Dan) mentioned their father had the same type of birthmark.

Dan's is on his wrist; Ximena's is on her thigh. I think this birthmark business is a Secret Relative Alert.

Dan mentioned his father died when he was very young, I think Ximena mentioned her dad up and left the scene.

Very interesting comments. In retrospect, the entire plan went right over my head. Putting 2+2 together, I had erroneously assumed that the plan didn't work because the henchman was somehow involved. Since he didn't attend, I thought that ruined the plan. Thanks for clarifying.

So it looks like Dan is related to X and not Camila. Of the two possibilities laid out by Traveling Lady, my money is on X's dad with Agatha. I don't think if Augustina had had an affair with Dan Sr. she would have told Dio he was the best lover ever. Certainly Sweet Caring Dan Sr. would be better in bed than Selfish Dio.

Now I'm not just saying this because of how darling X looked in that turquoise dress the other night, or that striped number last night, but they sure do paint her up. It's like she's never heard that make up is to accentuate the natural beauty. I can't help but think "painted lady" when I look at her. Camila, on the other hand, is a beautiful "Fresh Face".

Fully agree, RLO. Painted Lady, what a hoot. For some reason, that makes me think of Big Pink Houses in San Francisco.

P.S. see my comment on Google's Plaza de Caray
Anita

Oh Anita, how I wish I knew the secret to getting on Google Plus. It seems I can only get on if given a link, then I have a hard time navigating the site. It's not the site, it's me. I wish I knew a traveling web site expert (Mike?) who would stop by my house just so I could get a quick tutorial. Maybe our next business venture can be the equivalent of Fuller Brush Men but for computer services.

I agree that it's hard to figure out this plan. Daniel doesn't want to just show up, I get that, because they will call the police and have him hauled off, but how do they proceed?

Anita, part of what you explained didn't happen in this episode, so please do not reveal any spoilers. I don't want to know what happens before it is aired.

cathyx--Better still, I deleted the whole comment. I'll put back everything Minus the pp you think is a spoiler.

Thanks for the link you emailed me Anita. I commented over at La Plaza.

OT: Mi hijo is in Kansas City for a year. There is a really fun shopping/eating/socializing place there called The Plaza. It is driving my son nuts that everone pronounces it with the a-as-in-apple sound (I forget the name for that...hard a?) . I told him not everyone's mom watches TNs and may not know the correct pronunciation.

My fear is that once Dan reveals his true identity to Camila, she'll feel she can never trust him. Hopefully she will find out from HIM and not by some other means, like him needing a blood transfusion.

They still haven't revealed what all the full good guys plan is to the audience, but they sure did shake the bad guys up with that little trick. Loved it.

Camila is a fair-minded/level-headed person, and I like that her response wasn't to automatically assume that DDA had a sinister purpose in popping up in the photo and watching them, but instead wanted to create a safe space for him to come forward and reveal himself to her. No one in her clan (mom, Dio, Al, Xime, Isa) sees it that way though. Luckily, she's strong-willed.

I also enjoyed her telling Dio no about the administrator job, lying that she had already given the job to Mariano, and then immediately calling Mariano to give him the job. Ha! She may not be able to prove Dio is crooked, but she's not going to give him the chance to screw with her ranch and prove any of her suspicions correct. Our heroine might be in the dark about a lot of things, but she's not a fool, like her mama.

The family birthmark that Ximena and Dan share is VERY interesting. I did not see that coming and don't quite know how they could share the same father. I am sure the shared father is NOT Don Daniel. Gussy never got a chance to tap that, although she wanted to.

That leaves the jerk Gussy was married to the second time. Dan says his dad died, but we also know his parents divorced when he was very little-- soon after their return from Mexico. He could have gone back to Mexico, but Gussy and Don Daniel knew Agatha's husband. They would have mentioned that Gussy's 2nd husband was also Agatha's first husband. Unless the two men were brothers and Gussy and Don Daniel didn't know the relationship between Gussy's husband and Agatha's husband. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for fixing it Anita. I'm glad you have editing capabilities.

I love, love, love, that the good guys are staying even with the bad guys. Dion is a delicious bad guy. When Aggie wanted to kiss him, he hesitated, because it disgusts him so much. You can tell he would only be attracted to the Isadora type of woman. Aggie is too dowdy for him.

The birthmark is interesting. I agree that if Aggie had an affair with Dan senior, even one time, we would know about it. So there must be a connection between Aggie's bad husband and Ximena and Daniel.

That was so funny and sad when Dio did not want to kiss her. She sat there with her eyes closed and her little thin lips puffed out. He played it expertly!

As Anon207 said, Ximena does tell D'Andres that her father had the birthmark -- just had to go back to check. She may well have got that from Augustina rather than seeing the luna herself. So many possibilities. Another mystery to be solved.

Dio must think he's the boss at the hacienda, cause he affirmed to Cam that he was going to be the new administrator, almost like giving an order, he never asked her first if she needed help. Good thing Cam is of strong character and won't let no one go over her, and then she told Dio that Mariano would be the man.

Now that Mariano is in love with Cam, and his brothers know it, one of them asked him what he'll be doing about his girlfriend (can't remember her name). I wonder if they'll bring her into the picture and maybe have a nice cat fight with Cam. Haha heehee.

Everything was so funny at the pretend dinner, like, uninvited guests, arguments between Dio and Alonso (and Mama), Ximena wanting to leave whenever she says so, Rafa's brother popping up in the picture, arguments between Dio and Rafa. So funny, almost like a real family.

Looks like Dan and Ximena are related, probably cousins or something another. (Dan is sure he is not related to Cam or else he would not have kissed her).

I like it when the bad guys have to simulate their facial expressions when things go wrong when in front of the good guys.

I love this novela it has a detective story to it.

Thanks to you all.
Flaco

The reason behind that scene where Dan was watching Camila through the window with Cam putting the rose in a glass of water came into play. The next day, Dan asked Cam if she liked the rose, and she said that she threw it away. So he knows she was lying about it.

Right, and he knows that she can feign indifference, even though she really likes him. Nice scene.

I liked the exchange between Aaron and Rafa about Viviana. Was Aaron basically asking if Rafa has deeper feelings than friendship for Vivi? I don't understand everything that's said given they talk tan rapido. I for one would really like to see Rafa and Vivi fall in love.

I liked the part where Dan had the yellow flower and started plucking it, saying SHE LOVES ME, SHE LOVES ME NOT, SHE LOVES ME, SHE LOVES ME NOT, SHE LOVES MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! and throws up a bunch of yellow flower petals as Camila rolls her eyes and stifles a smile. LOL

Understanding some of the relationships (real or otherwise) in this novela has been a bit difficult. Have appreciated the efforts to clear these relationships up, but my eyes still roll in my head when trying to figure out the Dan/Camila relationship in terms of their parents and who did what with whom.

Anyway...I'm lost again. Who is Damian that is named in the title of the recap?

Thank you.

Anonymous- I believe the name in the title should be Dionisio not Damian.

Anon 207 - Loved that part with the flower plucking too! Loved his smile.

Anon 11:35. The relationships can be a bit confusing, especially because a lot of people have made assumptions about Dan's paternity that may or may not be true. Some things we the audience must also assume, based on what we have seen of the characters.

The facts:
-Don Daniel was married to Agustina's cousin, but they never had children together.
-Don Daniel had an affair with Agatha Acosta (Daniel's mother), while they were both married.
-Agatha Acosta was married to Mr. Diaz, but divorced him soon after their return to Chile from Mex.
-Agustina was married to Don Daniel's brother. They had Camila together.
-After Agustina's husband died, she fell in love with Don Daniel, who's wife (Agustina's cousin) had also died. But he never saw Agustina this way. He was still in love with Agatha. Agustina resented this.
-Agustina evetually met Mr. DIAZ (Yes, his last name was Diaz. The character list on Esmas says Xinema's last name is Diaz Santos.) He took her for a fool, had an affair with her friend and stole her money. But stayed long enough to father Ximena.

Assumptions:
-Daniel has always believed Mr. Diaz was his father and had no reason to question this. He still believes Mr. Diaz is his father because he believes his mother would have told him some so important as he real paternity before she died from cancer. Therefore, he does NOT believe Camila is his cousin.
-Everyone at Malquerida is assuming Dan IS Don Daniel's child because why else would Don Daniel have left everything to him? Plus, Agatha named her son after Don Daniel.

OK people, so after finding out that Ximena's father's last name was also Diaz (this isn't spolier, just character names found on the cast list on the Esmas sight) and that she and Dan share a family birthmark, I am now sure that 1) Daniel is NOT Don Daniel's son, and 2) Dan and Ximena are related through their fathers. The plot thickens!

Here is the cast list on Esmas:
http://televisa.esmas.com/entretenimiento/telenovelas/amor-bravio/elenco/

Flaco and Vivi, thank you very much. I really appreciate it and will refer back to your notes when I get lost again (which I predict will be soon!)

FAMILY TREES:

AMANDA:

Mother of Natalia

Best friends with Agatha Acosta.

AGATHA ACOSTA:

Married to Mr. Diaz

Had affair with Daniel Monterde

Reconciled with Mr. Diaz & moved to Chile

Mother of Daniel Diaz Acosta, born several months after reconciling with her husband

AUGUSTINA

Mother of Camila, by 1st hubby Humberto Monterde

Mother of Ximena, by 2nd hubby Mr. Scam Artist, who took Gussy's money & left

Cousin of Amparo Monterde, wife of Daniel

DANIEL MONTERDE

Camila's uncle (but not Ximena's)

Married to Amparo, Gussy's cousin

Had no known children

Had affair with Agatha Acosta

Learned Agatha died & had a son named DANIEL who was born shortly after their affair was over

Assumed Agatha's son Daniel was HIS child (cuz why else would she name the kid DANIEL?)

Isadora Lascano

Widow of Sleazy Lascano

Stepmother/adopted mother of Alonso, Camila's husband (birth mom is a maid)

Other relationships:

Viviana & Bruno are divorced; they had a baby named Octavio who died b/c Bruno beat the brakes off of Viviana while pregnant with Octavio

Aaron & Rafael are brothers; Aaron is currently starring as "Daniel Diaz Acosta."

Daniel Diaz Acosta & Andres Duarte were cellmates; during the jailbreak Andres died & Daniel erased his records so now Daniel Diaz Acosta is currently starring as "Andres Duarte aka D'Andres"

Miriam Farca is/was Daniel Diaz Acosta's pregnant wife. Shot by Dio's henchman, we don't know if she really is dead or not...that's what Abraham Farca, Miriam's brother told Daniel while in lockup.

Luzma is Piedad's daughter & Leoncio's niece...we don't know who Luzma's dad is b/c he took off (then again, for all we know Leoncio could have SCARED Luzma's bio dad off)

Mariano, Santiago (Yago) & Pablo are brothers; considering the HUGE age gap b/w Mariano & Pablo their parents must be really old.

Thanks Vivi and Anon207. We certainly need a players' line-up with all their positions before they come up to bat. Maybe we should print this as a cheat sheet under it's own special heading, so we don't have to remember which episode we got the family tree and family history. What do you say, Vivi, will you put yours and Anon's info together and post it. As new characters are introduced that seem central to the story, we can add them.
Anita

Anon207 (sounds like a character on Star Trek), thanks for that list. This leaves three questions:

Who was Luzma's father and did Leoncio scare him away or kill him?

What is Alonssso's mother's name and what happened to her?*

Who is Natalia's father (I don't recall anyone ever speaking of him)?

*Also, how long was Hissadora married to Sleazy before he sprung this on her? The flashback made it look as though she didn't know the maid.

There are a lot of missing fathers or fathers with mysterious backgrounds in this tn.

I really hope Leoncio isn't Luzma's father. That would be way too disgusting for a TN, I hope.

Ew yuck. Then we'd have to be extremely pithed at Piedad for knowing what he is capable of and still having her daughter around him.

That would mean that Luzma is the product of incest as well as the victim.

There isn't a hell bad enough for this sleazebag.

Guys: Sorry this is really delayed this time, but had babysitting the grandson and a wedding to attend before I got it all finished. Better late than never. Love the discussion threads for this one!

Anita: It may be too late, but I am taking out what did not occur in last night's episodio. And Cathyx, I took out one of your spoilerish comments as well. Sorry, but I felt I had to.

===============

EARLIER POST
Foxy--although we don't have the details of "The Plan," it was intended to show Camila in a very insidious way, that indeed Daniel is alive, wants them to know it, is in control of the situation, but since he doesn't know whom to trust he isn't going to appear in the flesh right away.

Two other interesting things. Dionisio blurted out to Rafael that he must have been in on this little teatrito because he was Daniel's friend. Rafael calls him on that and says, how did you know that? Dio stumbles and says, well Augustina told me. She looks at him.

Dionisio arranged to have Hissidora's place torched, as per her instructions. He was willing to use Julian because it's Rafa they suspect of harboring Daniel and since Dio was going to be somewhere with Rafa that night, he didn't need him followed.

I hardly recognized our hunk while wearing a hoodie.
Anita

Ooops! Sorry! I meant to put Dionisio in the title and have now corrected that!

============
IMO Agata probably was a rape victim and it was Xi's father doing the dastardly deed which led ultimately to DDA.

If you hadn't noticed, Cathyx and I already discussed it and I deleted the avance and reposted without the ineligible comment.

However, I thought the whole conversation on the sidewalk was finished in this episode. If it wasn't I apologiZe Big time, Again!

Anita: I did and don't sweat it, amiga. =/; ? )

Jardinera, I have no problem with you deleting my comment. I don't want any spoilers out there either.

Great job, as always. I love all your nicknames for everyone and everything. Especially Meana and Operation shine the light. Did you make that up or was that what they called their plan? It sounds so official.

Character named Francisco Diaz will be Daniel and Ximena father so that will make them a half-siblings!

Jardinera - what a lovely Sunday drive of a recap. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit.

Your nicknames are so funny. My favorites are:
-Lonnie-Come(sp?)-Lately
-Loathsome Lon
-Operation Shine the Light

I appreciated you pointing out the hand touches:
-Again it's electric!
-Their hands are in another sensual clasp.

Does everyone now have the message that brushing hands while getting in and out of a car is the most erotic foreplay? I wish I'd been keeping count of how many times that's happened.

The 3 funnest moments of this episode:
- Jardinera described it as "faces back the gag reflex at her fish-lipped pucker when pecking her good-bye"
- Daniel's "me quiere, no me quiere"
- Aaron jumping into the photo

Thanks for this excelente recap, Jardinera.

Rosemary la Otra

It would be absolutely super if Vivi's and Anon207's lists could be posted separately as a reference for the future.

As I mentioned earlier, the relationships (real and imagined) in this TN have been the most confusing I've ever seen. I believe that knowing those relationships will be key to following this novela (which is SUCH a nice departure from the abysmal stuff happening at Abismo de Pasion. Crikey...that is one messed up novela!

So, to those of you recappers with your infinite powers, I hope you can help with the above request.

Thanks.

Thank you,Telenovela Goddess, for bringing back those fun moments.

It includes D'Andres throwing all the petals in the air with a final Me Quiere; Dio doing a slow burn when he got replaced as administrator of MQ before he'd even been hired; Meana with the straw in her hair; the Lonnie tantrum, Aaron's Wack-a-Mole moment, Cami enjoying her flirty exchanges with D'Andres; D'Andres in his hoodie getting an earful of the pathetic plotters; Dio having to do another slow burn when he didn't have a chance to grab the Daniel who showed up in the picture.

It was a great episode to recap. And the plot thickens. Bless Amanda's heart for sticking her neck out to get copies of the passport and Natalia for being on Team D'Andres, despite his letting her down as a possible novio.

Foxy--did you ever get your translation for 'esta mujer se puso mal'? If it's literal, then it would be: this woman got sick.
Anita

Jardinera- Wonderful recap as always. No need to appologize for the delay, due to the fact that you have a life! Anyway, you see that we kept ourseleves amused.

Loved all the moments mentioned by everyone-- the she loves me/loves me not moment; the electric hand touch moments (perfectly described by Jardinera); Dio be thwarted at every turn and doing his slow burn; and Faux DDA popping up in the photo.

Anon- That's very interesting. I saw in the character list on Esmas that Dan and Ximena share the same last name, but did not see a character listed who was/could be the father of either one of them -- just the main players we have seen so far.

Anita, Telenovela Goddess, LOL.

Viv, I agree with your guess that Ximena and Daniel must be related somehow through their fathers. Too many leads in the story line so far. It will be enlightening to know why Agatha divorced her husband for a while. Seems Amanda and Agustina would have the history and might be able to (separately or together) put this part of the story together. Dun dun duhh!

Jardinera - Thanks for the clever recap, even with a wedding (which is of course why you thought of Damien) and all to attend to. That shows real recap fortitude.

Jardinera, Telenovela Goddess, Recap Reina:
We bow down to you!

My favorites:

"Komodo Dodo" Love it!

"This is a hell of a pisser for said family of hisssers.  They are miffed over having been duly stiffed and their pride so suitably biffed.   They slither out of the restaurant in a hell of a huff " Wowsa! LOL!!

The flower scene was very cute. D'Andres sure has a lot of confidence. And, Jardinera, I loved your recap description of the scene between D'Andres and Camila as he dropped her off in front of Vivi's house. Very well done.

Jardinera thanks so much for the recap. Don't worry about when you post; you gave us a thread to amuse ourselves until your treat.

I hope you are wrong about DDA's mother being the victim of another rape. I'd like to think (and this is a guess) that the two Diaz's are possibly brothers or 1st cousins and that's why Dan & Ximena have similar birthmarks.

As others have mentioned loved the bad guys getting slammed and the good guys being one up. That's so rare in a TN where the good guys are often so dumb its painful to watch.

Since the good guys are on the ball, I'm hoping the Padre will start watching malo tio. And I don't think Mr. Muy Mal was watching Dan and Cam, he's plotting to kill Rudolfo (another guess) b/c he dared to protect Natalia from being another rape victim. She should have mentioned this assault to Cam already.

Braggadocious blowfish -- can't be beat as a description for Dio.

Clever, funny and sharp as usual.

Thanks so much.

Thanks, all, for the relationship and character descriptions. The intricacy is what makes it fun, just a lot of store as the action unfolds.

Excellent, Jardinera.

I'd love to know where Augustina gets off even thinking she had a vote in whether Dionisio gets to become administrator. That was perhaps her stupidest move yet. Camila needs to put her foot down.

I didn't find the refused pucker amusing; it was pathetic. It demonstrates that Augustina is inappropriately naive about Dionisio.

The fact that the komodos will still be at La Malquerida will make for some very uncomfortable situations to come.

Anita thanks for the translation. I've been away from the computer all day so I'm just now seeing your message with the interpretation. I hope you're like me and take one last look at the comments before retiring so that you'll see my "thanks a bunch". It seems each time I try to watch with my captions turned off, there's a phrase that I want to capture and it's rare that I get it right. Obviously this was one of those times. In any case,I appreciate your response.

Foxy--Good for you watching without the captions! It's good for the brain. We're all here to help with interpretations, translations, humor and good old fashioned cleverness.
Anita

Thank you so much folks! Glad you enjoyed the read. More new bloggers this week, I've seen.

Marta in NY: Welcome to my weekend world!
I think I've said the same to Flaco, but can't remember, so just in case--ditto for Flaco!
==================
Great lists again, too. Thanks, ViviDC. I suggest we cut and paste those into notepad/wordpad or word, etc. for and then print the page off for reference.

As for Operation Shine the Light, I simply made that up since Vivi's always encouraging Cami to "find the light" (which I guess is meant as keep your wits and your courage and you'll find your way to the light at the end of the tunnel. IMO.

UA - It is sooooo pathetic that Augustina has fallen for Dio. I think it's sad on her part, but his acting of being disgusted was priceless. This is my introduction to him as an actor and now I see why you all were buzzing about him.

Are there two Diaz's? Or are we just making guesses?

RlaO- Cast list says Ximena's last name is Diaz. Which happens to be Daniel's last name. This is a common name, but given the matching family birthmarks, there is like a link.

Are birthmarks really inherited or is this some brilliant plot device to give us all an aha moment. Seems to me this requires beanie adjustments.

Jar--I cut and pasted a draft of the Playlist for Operation Shine the Light and sent it to Vivi. I don't have your e mail or I would have sent it to you, too.

Birthmarks a for sure a plot device. But I'm willing to adjust the beanie a bit and accept it. :)

Anita you can send it to me [at] gmail. Just use jardinera654 and thanks!

It was the means of identification prior to DNA evidence and it's used that way in novelas de epoca. In CS 09 Juan had the same birthmark on the back of his neck as his mother.

Anon207: Thanks for the family breakdown.
================
I read that the idea of inherited birthmarks has two schools of thought which are on either side of the line. so who really knows? I say yeah, cuz my daughter got mine, but it showed up on a different place on her body.

We're probably IMHO to figure on at least an "aha!" moment here for a "secret family alert" like Anon207 put it. I figure if Agata really loved Don Daniel and left the country with Sr. Diaz, he could have been leading a double life and been a polygamist which is a plot twist I don't remember in any of the tn's I've seen, or been a twin brother, or pulled a date rape..... It could be a family birthmark and not been from the same daddy but from the same granddaddy or something further up the family tree trunk.

Given the possibilities Jardinera laid out, won't we be disappointed if it's a simple case of horn dog impregnated two women?

I like the idea of a polygamist plot.

R la O de Utah

BTW, tks mucho to the rest of the recapping team, all of whom were once again at the top of their game this week.

Wow Jardinera! How cool that you and your daughter have the same birthmark but in different locations-- like Dan and Ximena. Yes, an online search does say the jury is out about whether or not some birthmarks are hereditary. Well, I guess these tn writers don't just pull ideas from thin air.

I like all the theories you guys have thrown out about how Dan and Ximena Diaz could be related.

Thank you so much for the recap and all of the comments! It helps me so much when I'm traveling and am in parts of the world where AB isn't showing. I too loved this poetic nature of this line:

"This is a hell of a pisser for said family of hisssers. They are miffed over having been duly stiffed and their pride so suitably biffed. They slither out of the restaurant in a hell of a huff."

The scenes described sound so juicy and fun ... Aaron's "Whack-a-mole" moment (LOL!) and the sensual touching of hands between D'Andres and Camila. Maybe I can find scenes on YouTube.

Thanks again for the recap. Looking forward to seeing it in real-time upon return to the states!

Thanks, Jardinera for another great recap. Just a few observations before I read everyone's comments.

My guess is Dio’s rethinking that whole seduction of Cam plan. Obviously, she’s one woman who won’t let him charm her out of her pants.

Cracked me up when Ximena came in with straw in her hair. Well done, production crew/director/actor whoever added that bit of business.

So worried Amanda was going to get caught re: the passport.

Someone commented awhile ago that Xi and Dan could be related—brother and sister.

This is getting exciting! Thank you Anon207 for the family trees breakdown. So who was Al's father? That old dude from the flashback? Sounds similar to LQNPA and Cynthia's background.

So does that means Xi and Dan are half siblings? Same father? Since Dan Sr. isn't Dan Jr's real father. Therefore D'Andres is not Cami's cousin. Interesting....

IF Miriam is alive and recovers somehow I think Dio and Izzy will get wind of it and use her in their plot.

RlaO: My TNF played a trick on me. He's Flaco. I told him awhile ago he should comment and he should use Flaco as his name. But he said "nah!" Can't believe I didn't realize it was him!!! Even when he asked me, this morning, if I read ALL the comments. And I almost commented to Flaco on how my TNF liked this TN because it was a mystery!

Nanette

Lol! Hola Flaco! Any TNF of Nanette's is a TNF of ours. Please comment often with your male perspective.

Jard, Your recap was well worth the wait.

Do you think Cami is starting to realize her mom's a bird brain? I think they're even smarter than her...LOL!!

Amanda made me nervous when she was going through Hench's things.

Can't wait for tonite...

Ann-NYC

Anon--TF
Hang in there. We're going to come up with a "Playbill" for all the characters and their relationships and post it separately, so you don't have to try and remember which episode had the run down.

Hola Flaco y la nueva Robey (now known as Si Si Nanette!!!) Siempre son bienvenidos.

Robey/SíSíNanette! LOL! Cruel trickery--you and Flaco changing names on us! I had no idea!

Jardinera: This is Flaco's first time commenting. I called him TNF for Telenovela Friend when relaying some of his theories in my comments. I changed my name a few eps ago. Flaco picked it--it's my middle name. And now I'm Si Si Nanette--thanks to Anita.

SiSiNanette

SiSiN: Ohhhh okiedokie --I do like "Nanette"-- Good then that I did welcome Flaco then!
