Amor Bravío #51 (Uni 46) Thu 10/25/12 Amor Valiente

D'Andres convinces Camila to let him talk to Luzma alone first.  Camila reluctantly agrees, but she wants him to do it right away.  He vows to make the responsible party regret being born.

Isadora refuses to go to Las Vegas to make believe it's a real training trip.  Basically, Dionisio just wants Agustina out of the way so he can make a play for Camila without her mother hanging all over him every second.  He doesn't care how low Isadora thinks he's fallen, the sod will rise again.  Isadora decides she'll cancel at the last minute so that Agustina still has to go and Dio can make his move.

Rafa was a little worried about how Camila would take him moving in with Vivi, but Vivi's more preoccupied with the knowledge that Cam and D'Andres have done the deed.  Vivi lies to Rafa, telling him nothing happened, but Cam just isn't for him.  It's too late to keep her from falling from D'Andres.  She advises Rafa to stop suffering over his impossible love.

Osvaldo is glad to see Camila so well recovered.  She reviews her will and only asks for one change--if she should happen to re-marry, she wants her husband and children to have part of her goods.  Osvaldo says she's welcome to change her will as many times as she wants to, so no worries.  He'll bring a fresh copy for her to sign the day after tomorrow.  Agustina giddily announces she can't sign then because she'll be in Vegas, baby.  Osvaldo is thrilled to hear it…not!

D'Andres approaches Luzma by the lake.  He said they've all tried asking her what happened, but she won't talk to them, so instead he's going to tell her that she's a great girl.  He says he knows what happened to her and encourages her to keep the perp from hurting her or anyone else ever again.  Luzma cries that he swore he'd hurt Pablo.  D'Andres does the math and realizes it was that rat bastard Leo.  Luzma doesn't confirm or deny, she just cries her eyes out on his shoulder.  In the words of Argus Filch…"I want to see some punishment!"

Agustina coos on about her training.  Osvaldo would love to get out of there, but Camila stops him to ask if he happens to know what happened to her uncle's gun.  Os is stumped.

D'Andres reminds Luzma that he's really Daniel and he swears he'll keep Leo from hurting Pablo…she just needs to go turn the slimy piece of filth in.  He says he'll stick by her and protect her.  She agrees…at least for now.

Mariano and Natalia decide to call Camila about the odd check, since the bank's copy has her signature.  He asks if maybe it was postdated, since it was dated during the time she was in the hospital.  Camila is sure she didn't do it, but she has an idea of who it might have been.  She calls Alonso immediately and asks him first about the gun, which he still hasn't found.  She says she has another question that she prefers to ask him in person.

The new Padre is going to have to let out some of his cassocks.  He's noticed that Amanda is always singing Andres' praises.  He asks her to sit down and says Andres doesn't act like a chauffeur and Amanda treats him like he's her superior.  Amanda wants to tell him, but only if it's under the seal of the confessional.

Rafael and Vivi intercept Dionisio's email to Daniel.  Dio claims to want to help Daniel and warns him off of talking to Camila.  Vivi is shocked at the man's cheek!  She realizes, though that Daniel and Camila aren't going to be able to meet as planned.

Walking towards the house, D'Andres sees Leo the lout and sends Luzma to get a sweater.  He beats the smack out of Leo…in slow motion.  He gives him a good dunking in the fountain, telling him he'll pay for hurting Luzma.  Then he gets a few more punches in to the head…a little strangulation…Rodolfo and one of the other guys have to pull him off.  Leo gets in a crotch shot, but D'Andres gets loose and goes back to tenderizing Leo's face.  Luzma comes up, horrified, while Piedad runs to the house.

Camila has just had a second to criticize her sister's "want" list when Piedad announces that D'Andres is beating the shit out of Leoncio.  Ximena is thrilled to have a little excitement at the ranch, finally.  What?  Sleeping with her sister's husband, slimy Bruno showing up, and Camila getting gored by a bull weren't exciting enough?

When Camila gets outside, she asks if it was Leoncio and when D'Andres nods, she smacks him around a bit too.  She tells Luzma to tell her mother what happened.  Piedad doesn't believe it at first.  Camila screams at her for not believing her daughter.  Luzma says her scuzzy uncle raped her the day of her wedding.  Piedad now smacks Leoncio, who is being held up more than held back by two of the ranch hands.  She screams that she'll kill him, then goes to Luzma and begs her forgiveness for not protecting her from Leoncio.  Throughout, everyone looks shocked and horrified, including Ximena…maybe there's a little humanity left in her.

Isadora gets home just as Alonso's getting ready to go see Camila.  Isa's going to Guadalajara.  She's sick of Dionisio and his scheming to manipulate Daniel and Agustina.  Despite their pact, she's not willing to sit around and wait on him…she tells Alonso that what she's going to find in Guadalajara will save them.

D'Andres is ready to load Leo in the truck and take him to jail.  Osvaldo offers to go with them.  Agustina says she's ashamed of Leo and Camila says he'll never come back to the ranch.  Leo keeps saying he didn't do anything and even tries to get Luzma to agree, the heartless bastard.  Luzma says not only did she beg him not to do it, he laughed at her begging, so he can rot in jail.  Leo tries to threaten D'Andres again, but he gets knocked out for his trouble.  Camila is insistent on going, but D'Andres and Agustina don't want her to go.  Piedad vows she'll protect her daughter on her own and Agustina promises her support.  Camila tells Luzma that what happened doesn't have to hurt her heart, that everyone there loves her, that she can handle this, that it took guts to confront her uncle.

Padre Anselmo asks Amanda to please tell Daniel that he wants to help.  He comes from money and he can get Daniel a really good lawyer.  Amanda is thrilled to hear it.

Now that the crisis is over, Ximena goes back to being her usual worthless self.  She asks Camila if she thinks it's really true, you know, cause some girls like to flirt and stuff…Camila is floored.  "Even you, who routinely dress like a total skank--which Luzma doesn't, by the way--if you say 'no!' that means NO!"  Ximena still isn't convinced.  Mostly she's jealous that Camila is defending Luzma, even though Luzma is "nothing" to her.

Camila calls Pablo.  He takes the call, comes back to the dining table, and tells Mariano "It was Leoncio."  Mariano gets up to take him into town.  Bitchy Mama objects and Pablo says since they're all going to hear it from the rumor mill anyway, he'll tell them what's going on.  Yago and Ileana are impactados.  Mama doesn't give a crap, she still doesn't want him going.  Papa calls him impulsive after he's left and says he didn't get that from him.

The ranch hands are locking up the house when Alonso arrives.  He's pissed to hear that no one knows where she is.

Mariano tells Natalia that it was Leoncio.  "I knew it!"  There's a moment of confusion as Mariano thinks she means she knew it literally.  Natalia just made a solid guess from the way Luzma looked at him with such fear.  Mariano gives her the rest of the day off and Natalia asks him to pass on the message that she admires Luzma for having turned him in.

Isadora is getting ready to leave the house, suitcase all packed, and she stops to call someone named "Ibañez" and set up a meeting at her hotel while she's in Guadalajara.  She's looking for info on the man who registered Daniel as his son.

Mariano catches up to Pablo and convinces him to get out of the driver's seat.  Pablo's vowing bloody revenge and Mariano reminds him that his job is to support Luzma.

Leo Sordido gets dragged into the police station.  D'Andres holds Julian's murder over his head, telling him he'd better cop to the charge of rape or he'll end up having a murder charge added to it.  Leoncio snarls at Luzma as he's dragged away.  Osvaldo takes charge of starting the legal proceedings and the guy at the desk informs them that first Luzma will have to make a statement and then she'll need to have a forensic exam.  Osvaldo tries to spare her, saying it's been several days, but it doesn't matter.  Luzma starts to cave, but her mom and Camila convince her to go through with it, saying they'll be there for her.  Piedad apologizes again for not protecting Luzma and screwing up her life by keeping Leoncio around.  Osvaldo interrupts them, saying it's time for Luzma to give her statement.  D'Andres sits by Camila in the waiting area.  He tells her she shouldn't have come, but Camila insists she wanted to support Luzma.  "And then you're surprised that I'm in love with you?"

Yago is furious, thinking that Ileana had something to do with it.  After all, she said she'd done something to prevent the wedding.  "All I did was call the uncle and tell him that Luz Maria was going to marry Pablo.  But that's all.  I didn't tell him to rape her."  There's a special hell waiting for you, Ileana.  You and Ximena.  Yago says her intrigues are what led to this.

Ximena sneaks into her mom's room to try to steal some money, but mom doesn't have a whole lot in her wallet.  She grumbles that she needs money and she doesn't want to sell her car.

Vivi and Rafa finally get in touch with D'Andres to tell him that Dionisio sent him an email.

Natalia tells Amanda about Luzma.  Amanda is upset, of course, and tries to turn what happened into another reason Natalia should leave the ranch.  Natalia still refuses, saying Leo's not going to be there anyway, and if she needs to, she can testify that from the day she got there Leo was making unwanted advances.  Amanda is pissed off to hear that, which is exactly why Natalia never told her.  "Besides, I want to be there to support Luzma and I'm sure you'd do the same."

D'Andres, Vivi, and Rafa all agree that Dio is trying to play innocent and cut Alonso and Isadora out of the game.  D'Andres wants to take the meeting and try to get more info out of Dio.  He asks Rafa to accept the invitation and then contact Camila and cancel with her.

Leo is dragged in to give his statement and has to be told to STFU after threatening Luzma or he can go directly to jail.  He whines that he's a good guy and she's like a daughter to him and demands they call his "boss" Alonso and Alonso's mother.  Camila is confused as to why he thinks Alonso and Isadora would be able to help Leoncio.  Osvaldo supposes he's just saying anything he can think of.

The doctor explains to Luzma that she needs as much information as possible to be able to run tests.  They show Luzma lying on a table and Piedad looking on, horrified, but they don't go into details.  What they're not explaining is that Luzma has already given her statement to the guy at the desk, but she now has to give another one to the doctor, with details about what happened so that the doctor knows where she might be able to collect evidence samples from.  Given that time has passed, she'll probably get to leave the exam in the clothes she walked in wearing.  When the exam happens right away, the clothes are taken into evidence, leaving an already traumatized woman with nothing to wear.  Which is why in a lot of communities, there are organizations that collect clothing for sexual trauma survivors.

Pablo comes charging into the police station looking for Luzma.  Camila and Mariano calm him down.  He sees Luzma coming out of the exam room and tries to hug her, but she's really not in the mood for that right now.  The doctor comes out of the exam room and announces to THE ENTIRE LOBBY that she found evidence of rape and that Luzma is pregnant.

I'm having very, very, very uncharitable thoughts about the writers.

Tomorrow: back to the Cam and D'Andres romance.

And here the 5ft household was glad they weren't dragging out this plotline. And then the writers had to hit the wrong spot on the dart board. Bastards!

Given the current political climate around this latest plot development, I feel compelled to issue a plea...I know we all have strong opinions, please let's not let it veer into personal attacks, I beg you! I have my in-laws in town, I've got three shows this weekend--I'm swamped and I don't want to add "hall monitor" to my list of tasks! (I know, I know, I probably didn't even need to say it, but just in case!)

Speaking of my hectic weekend, here are a few links

Univision Arizona video about the show in Flagstaff

Blog post about the show in Flagstaff with a picture slideshow that I'm actually in

Good night, all!

Luzma pregnant? I'm not sure I want to watch this anymore...

No problem, Kat.

Except somehow I knew this was going to happen. It's one of the ugliest plot developments I think I've ever seen in these series.

I don't like that the doctor told the whole room. Had this been a whole room only of cops working on the case, that would be one thing. Now the rat bastard knows and I don't like where my imagination is going with this.

Ximeana and Ileana are definitely on their way to hell for what they're saying and thinking.

Thanks for the recap Kat. Break a let with your shows.

I am deeply grieved the writers have gone in this direction w/the plot. Aside from this wretched story, I have enjoyed this TN immensely and it was becoming one of my favorites. I am flabbergasted at this development and may have to join Sue455.

Kat- Wonderful recap!

I share the sentiments of many of you that this is a horrible thing for the Luzma character to go through. But the writers have done so well developing this story that I am dying to see what happens next. No way am I going to abandon this story when it's getting so complex, dramatic, and is being executed so well.

Loved seeing Dan beat the crap out of Leo. That is the best use of a fountain that I have ever seen in a tn. Only wish that the crotch shot had been delivered TO Leo, not by him to Dan.

My heart breaks for Luzma, but Cami is right. She is brave and strong and she can get through this. I am so glad that Cami yelled at Piedad as soon as she started to question Luzma if this was the truth, and then Luzma herself asked if she would have believed her when Piedad asked why she didn't tell her. Piedad learned a lot about herself, and this will make her a stronger person and a better mother. We'll just have to see how this pregnancy story plays out.

Now, about our main couple. It's always nice to see a tn couple working together to solve a problem or to help others. Makes me like them as individuals and as a couple more. When Cam insisted on going to the police station, Dan slipped and used the familiar "tu" form with her, and kind of commanded her to stay. He then caught his slip, used "Usted", and softened his tone. No one noticed the slip, except Ximena. Uh oh! I bet that sneaky Xi will be the one to find out Dan and Cam are lovers, and she'll probably blackmail Cam in exchange for keeping her mouth shut. That way she'll kill two birds with one stone-- get money to pay off Bruno, and getting the chance to stick it to her big saintly sis.

Both Iliana and Xi showed a lot about the kind of people they are with their reactions about the rape of Luzma. Bitches.

I think Dio is going to Vegas WITH Gussy. Hence his delay in setting up his meeting with Daniel till next week, when he’s back in town. Dio knew Gussy wouldn’t agree to go to Vegas if she knew it would just be the two of them. That would be improper you see, since her daughters don’t know that she and Dio are “intimate.” LOL!

I don't think Camila will let Ximeana blackmail her. She will get on her case and demand to know why she is extorting the money. I think shes recognizes when Ximeana is lying; we know their mother does and Camila is way more intelligent than Augustina.

Urban- I don't think Cami would cave to blackmail either, but that won't stop Xi from trying. But it would force the truth about Cami's secret love affair to the light.

What a horrible way to end what would have been a very gratifying episode with tio slimeball getting his a-- kicked and exposed to be the terd that he is. Thanks, Kat, for a wonderful recap. If I wasn't already addicted to this telenovela, Luzma's pregancy would have been the end of the road for me. Dumb move by the writers.

Wow! What an episode! Thanks so much, Kat, for the excellent recap. I apparently missed the sense of some key discussions, and you've cleared them up perfectly.

I too enjoyed seeing Dandres beat the crap out of Leoncio. And I was delighted when he convinced Luzma to go to the authorities. But, like some others in Viewerville, I was blindsided by the pregnancy. However, I've been enjoying this TN so much that I'm staying with it. I can't imagine a really good outcome. The best I can imagine is Luzma miscarrying and Pablo making it clear that he still loves her and wants to marry her. [I've suppressed all my other, more political comments about this, but you're all welcome to read my mind.]

Anyway, many thanks again, Kat. I loved seeing the video and slide show--especially seeing you! Break a leg!

Great episode great recap. Lot's of action and you got it all, thank you.

Loved Dan almost killing Leo. I was a bit worried that he would, and then have to go to jail. That would be bad. But he is so fabulous in my book, it makes me love him all the more.

Dan knows that Alonso and Xi are doing it, and I'm sure that Cam would tell Dan that Xi is trying to blackmail her about her relationship with Dan, so I doubt any blackmail would ultimately work if it were tried.

I don't understand why Daniel doesn't just talk to Cam, telling his story from the beginning, and finally ending with the fact that he is Dan and not Andres. Explaining all that he has done, all his worries and how Viv and Rafa helped him. No special meeting is necessary. Just take a drive somewhere and tell her. Aaron won't need to come back at all.

As disgusting as Luzma's pregnancy is, it is a fact of life that this can happen. If this TN holds true to how well it's been handling everything so far, I'm betting that they will handle this matter responsibly also. But I must say, it cracks me up how any news is announced to everyone, no matter how personal it is.

Great recap!

Writers surely like to push buttons. (In a perfect world, the rapist would get pregnant and have an A-section) Can only imagine that next we will have Dionisio slipping Camila a date rape drug with Hissadora taking pictures in el cabana with "mommie" lamenting "oh Camila how could you steal my wonderful novio from me?", and poor AlonSo crying that his wife would stoop so low. It continues to crack me up that AlonSo doesn't appear to think that his boinking Ximena is on the same level as Camila having a (Sob Sob) lover. And, of course, if Leonisio goes to jail, he, with his super cunning brain, will effect an escape and rain revenge on the malefactors of Malquerida. And, who wins the tattoo contest Daniel or AlonSo?

Just as an aside, Telemundo writers are also guilty of this medical indiscretion. in Pasion de Gavilanes when Norma became ill and the doctor made a house call he told Gabriela that Norma was pregnant. That was none of her business no matter the relationship. It doesn't matter who pays the bill or where the adult patient lives. That was Norma's information to tell and nobody else's.

Does anyone remember what state this takes place in?

Aculco is in Mexico State.

Given that we were talking about literacy rates in Mexico some episodes back, I just found this bit of info in a search on Aculco. Seems they have a REALLY high illiteracy rate.

"Aculco has a population of over 40,000. Over 16,000 people in the region are illiterate."

OK, so the rate is higher than the national. I guess that should come as no surprise.

More on Aculco:

Aculco has a relatively cool, humid climate, with rain in the summer. The annual average temperature is of 13.2 °C (55.8 °F), with the lowest temperature occurring in the winter. The rain season starts at the end of March or beginning of April and lasts until October or November. The main economic activity of Aculco is the ranching of animals like pigs and sheep. The municipality's principal products include milk, fur, wool and eggs. Aculco is famous for the dairy products it produces. Aculco contains numerous geographic features suitable for tourism. Two cascades/waterfalls are located in the area: "Tixhiñu" and "la Concepción". Many rivers, including the Río Ñadó and Río Prieto also flow through the municipality. In addition, Aculco is home to numerous historic sites, including the San Jerónimo and the "Garrido Varela" (bullring), as well as the former residence of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.

Just a few thoughts before reading the recap and comments.

At first I enjoyed this ep. It was satisfying to see Luz open up to Dan and Dan and Cam and Piedad give the sleaze a beat down. Even thought in the beginning scene Dan and Cam were cute together (hadn't watched the previous ep, so this was new to me). And then, at the end, they had to go there. And am I wrong, but in the avances is Agustina saying Dan should be a father to Luz's baby? or say he is the father--though that doesn't make sense since everybody now knows what happened to Luz and who did it. On to the already know it's excellent before even reading it recap.

Nanette

When Piedad first denied that Leon could have done it, I was disheartened to think they were going to play Piedad as that mother in denial about reality. But when she stood up for her daughter, I actually clapped. Thank goodness they wrote the story this way.

Here are the reactions of the women to Luzma's rape:

CAMILA: Knew Luzma had been violated, found out Leoncio did it, didn't hestitate to blame Leoncio

GUSSY: Just thought the whole thing was terrible

PIEDAD: Did not want to believe Leoncio had raped Luzma (even though she knew SOMETHING was wrong with Luzma); had to be screamed at by Camila to believe Luzma. If Camila hadn't been there, Piedad wouldn't have believed Luzma...she knows it and Luzma knows it.

XIMENA: Believed Luzma asked for it, was probably teasing Leoncio. #1, that's disgusting, to think a young girl would try to turn on her UNCLE. #2, Ximena plays seductive games so she believes everyone else is playing seductive games as well.

ROCIO: Didn't care because Luzma is worthless to her...what's the big fuss b/c Luzma is a nobody?

ILIANA: Tried to deny any culpability to Yago.

I didn't see Iliana not caring that Luzma had been raped, or blaming her for being raped. I just saw Iliana say "Whoa, I ain't had nothing to do with that." Ximena actively blamed Luzma and Piedad would have too if Camila hadn't screamed on her.

Nanette- I didn't hear Gussy say anything like that in the previews. But really all I remember from the previews is Dan taking his shirt off. :) Like Dan, I have love-induced (or maybe just lust) dementia/forgetfulness.

If there is anything positive about Luzma's pregnancy, it's that it proves Leoncio impregnated her. Otherwise, he could just claim she was with Pablo or one of the ranch hands etc.

Anon207- Add Nat's reaction to your list. It was pretty similar to Camila's. And she had first hand experience with Leon's advances and had seen the tail end of a scary confrontation between Leon and Luzma.

Thank you for the recap.

This was a very intense episode. I was not expecting it to end the way it did. Poor Luzma. That is devastating for her and her mom.

I'm glad her character is a strong person. Good for Dandres and Camila for helping her.

Iliana really did provoke the situation. Although if Leo had found out on his own he still would've done what he did.
--TF

I guess the writers have to drag out Luz's and Pablo's reconciliation, but really---pregnant?!

Vivi: Of course you were concentrating on your boyfriend so didn't pay attention to what Agustina said :)

I was pleased with Xi's reaction to the rape news--and then she had to go and be a complete witch when talking to Cam about it.

Kat, thanks for the awesome recap, especially considering how busy you are. Break a leg.

Ay, Ms Cinco Pies--You--Little Plaid Riding Hood, or is it Dorotea de Tejas con la cesta?

Great recap, in between what is really important in your life. Congratulations on both fronts.

Vivi--I caught Dan's use of "tu" right away. If he had let it go by, Ximena might have just brushed it off as a slip of the tongue after all the agitation (and work-out on Leoputa--yea, I mean that). But he looked so guilty when he realized what he had done and corrected himself, no wonder Xi picked up on it.

So, our platinum haired knock out (she's another one whose "girls" arrive before she does) is off to Guadalajara to search for Daniel's father. Lots of luck. And how did she know he was there, or is it just the investigator who is there.

Dio is off to Las Vegas with Gussie. After telling Hissy he's going to die of boredom squiring Gussie araound, the last thing he wants to do is share "intimidades" with her again. Hmmm. So what is he really up to since there is no certification seminar.

We can now add El Padre with an XX-Extra Large Cassock to the list of who knows D'Andres is Daniel.

Anon207--I'm going to add your list of women's reactions to the news of Luzma's sexual assault. Interesting. Too bad (just for the sake of the list) Hissy wasn't there, I wonder what she would have said.

It may be one of the worst storylines in recent memory, but it is life in this world. Let's see if the writers handle this intelligently or sink into tired platitudes. One of the first casualties is usually the partner in the relationship after rape. It changes how they see their partner. I hope Pablo stays strong and resolved in his feelings toward Luzma. Maybe it helps that they never had relations before this happened.

Loved Dan's whispering to Camila about--now does she understand why he's in love with her--great rapport between the two of them.

Glad we got the repeat of their horsing around on the setee. It was kind of preparing us for what was coming and that we needed to stay strong. The scene by the pond between Dan & Luz was just a reminder that Dan's character is meant to elicit trust, gentleness, understanding, thoughtfulness, that he doesn't think with his fists first--but man, when he uses those fists he doesn't shirk from what he believes in. I keep remembering the image of Dan in the ambulance yelling !Salvela! to the EMTs. Add devotion to the list.

OK. I know I'm completely paranoid, but I'm not trusing the Padre. Why is he so interested in Dan? Is he a plant?!!!

Vivi--thanks for the information on Aculco. Now I understand why the streets and pavements are so often wet and rain is incorporated into the scenes. They must have been filming during the rainy season!

Forgot to add these commments to my previous posts:

I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy, but since this is a fictional character, I hope Luzma miscarries.

Thanks Vivi for clearing up the “look” Xi gave Dan and Cam.

Nanette--Not with that cara de angel!

Anon207--Can I add that Ileana was shocked by the rape, but ... etc.?

This was both the hardest episode to watch and the best. Like others, I'm so glad they didn't drag this thing out too much. I'm sure there will be questions in the court, something to not wrap it up neatly. And of course the @%#& pregnancy. I won't get political but I hope the writers at least let her discuss the actual alternatives. They've been pretty good about making this story and people's attitudes feel current (relatively) so it could be an interesting discussion. Not that she has to go through with an abortion, mind you, but they better let her have a miscarriage early.

I'll be curious to know what the priest has to say about this I know he has a party line to follow but he's so much more with the times than other priests. Either he's the best priest ever (along with Padre Honesto in Refugio) or there's something up with him. Does he know more than what he's letting on?

Good for them about talking about the importance of filing charges against a rapist. But the next big psa should be about how medical information is PRIVATE! You don't announce someone's impotance or pregnancy in a lobby full of strangers. jeesh.

kelly

5 foot- Forgot to congratulate you on the show. I grew up in AZ and if I ever learned about Raul Castro, I forgot about him a long time ago. Congrats and good luck on the other shows!

Kelly

Kelly- Well...I did appreciate the public announcement of Al's impotency issues and dalliance with a prostitute. :)

Re: the Padre

I don't think he's evil or shady. I think he's very observant. He knew something was going down re: Luzma and wanted to get down to the bottom of it by observing her family (Piedad & Leoncio). He observed that Piedad was clueless & unaware and advised her to get aware:

Young girls trying to get married don't up and decided to join the convent...what is she running away from?

Same with Daniel...many characters have noticed that "Andres" is too intelligent & elegant to be a mere chofer...and if Andres IS a mere peon, why is Amanda (who would assumably have MORE social status than Andres) acting like the chofer is her social superior?

I don't THINK Anselmo is shady but this novela has twists and turns so...

Isadora wouldn't have cared if Luzma had been raped...she would have pretended, though.

I guess this is the part where Isadora links Daniel Diaz Acosta and Ximena Diaz Santos together, with her little P.I. If Dan & Ximena are siblings or cousins, Ximena just became a whole lot more important to the La Malquerida story.

We don't know what abuse Hissadora suffered at the hands of that husband who was about five years younger than God or from her original family. Not that she would be likely to help Luzma, but I doubt she'd say much.

If Daniel and Ximeana are half-sibs (not unlikely) I don't think that will mean much. By they time that is know he will have her number.

Anon207: I certainly hope the Padre is not shady. I don't want to see my Jacinto (MEPS) play a bad guy :)

5ft - Thanks for covering the highs with such zeal and your gentleness with the low. Big congrats on your new show!

I'm as flabbergasted as everyone else, but agree with those who point out that so far the writers have handled this storyline with sensitivity and I hope they continue with that sensitivity.

I am particularly curious about what advice Camila will give and how this astute and modern priest will console Luzma. Also, how Pablo will deal. This is a TN not a PSA, but I'm hoping for the sake of anyone out there dealing with this horror that Luzma's storyline is handled with care. I'm also hoping the fellow prisoners of pedazo de mierda beat him to death. I'm staying with AB, so I guess the writers are doing a good job.

Augie is a dodo bird with Dionisio, but she takes no crap when it comes to Alonso roughing up Camila or now with Luzma's rape.

So glad the previews show D'Andres and Camila getting back to romance. I need a break!

What an episode!!

Re: Isadora's reaction to the rape, she will be extremely sympathetic to Luzma and thrilled that Leo was accused. Now, whatever he says will be suspect and Isa already told him no one will believe him if he tries to rat out Al and her. ....BTW, how does she think she know who DanJr's father is? ....

Re: the trip to Vegas, I think this is a ruse to have Dio marry Agustina "spontaneously". Or, he will have her officially "show her face" as the person behind the Ponzi scheme for a later time. Isa told him he had stooped really low so I favor the marriage theory. I will be really surprised if he tries to bump her off.

Re: Camila - the writers do a pretty good job of keeping her as a compassionate forward thinking woman in the episode - she jumps on Piedad for verbalizing her doubt of Luzma's story, she jumps on X for her dopey "maybe she asked for it" statement, and she supported, and she compliments Luzma on her courage. I really enjoyed her dialogue here!

Re: Dandres' smackdown of Tio Sordido. All I can say is YESSS! Just made Dandres all the more atractivo!

Re: the preganance storyline, ditto, blehhh!

Ximena being Dan's sister wouldn't really be that important to him, but it would be very important to the Komodo Gang:

She could claim to be his next of kin, and therefore the true heir to La Malquerida, NOT Camila.

She could either join forces with the Komodo Gang to strip LM from Daniel & Camila or "go rogue" and try to strip it for herself.

Dan & Ximena being siblings (or cousins) could be very very important to the story.

Isadora doesn't know who DDA's father is, but the assumption is that Don Daniel left the ranch to DDA because DDA was his illegitimate son. So Isadora wants information on the man who registered Dan as his child, and that would be Mr. Diaz.

Thanks Anon 207! I get it!

I just hope that this development has a purpose and good ending. Yes, it is real life, but that does not mean when I read about it in real life that I am any less sickened.

Thanks for the recap. I almost gave away the episode to my hair dresser who DVRed it. Happily, I just said I did not like the story line.

And I do not.

Still watching last nights ep and just finished the scene where he-who-I-refuse-to-name got his comeuppance from Daniel. I'm not one to easily cry but wow, Luzma and Pablo both brought me to tears. Such a heart wrenching story and great performances by these young actors.

Thanks Ms 5ft for a great recap despite everything that's going on in your real world. I understand and appreciate your request for viewerville to not voice our opinions about Luzma's situation in a political manner. I respectfully would like to add "religious" to that. I can forsee a discussion of that type getting out of hand real fast.

The writers are clever. They know what gets viewers adrenalin pumping and pregnancy has proven to be a hot topic. In just about every novela I've watched someone announces to everyones surprise/dismay "estoy embarazada". In this case where rape is added to an already hot topic, IMO the writers were well aware that they were going to ruffle some feathers in the viewerville community. We can have the last laugh if we don't take the bait!!

Loved this line: "but D'Andres gets loose and goes back to tenderizing Leo's face." :-)

Would someone please elaborate on the contents of the email to D'Andres from Dionisio that Vivi & Rafa intercepted? Being severely Spanish language challenged, most of the wording went right over my head. Gracious

I didn't mean to suggest that the padre was shady, but he's certainly very observant and asks a lot of questions. Maybe that's just the nature of being the priest in a small town, that he needs to get to know his flock, but it seems like he may be a bigger part in this story than just the local padre.

Vivi- I agree that the entire town, including the padre I'm sure, knowing Alonso's itty nitty problem is funny. Totally against HIPPA regulations here, but funny. But I curse the nurse who announced Luzma's pregnancy in front of everyone. Kid's been though enough. At least she has Pablo's support, if she'll accept it.

Kelly: I felt he might be shady when I was watching his scenes with Amanda and could tell he was asking about Andres, even though that's about the only thing I could understand out of their discussion. It is pure paranoia on my part. I'm hoping you're right and he does end up being a big part of the plot and not just someone they all tell their secrets to.

OT: I hear another TN is in Ultimas Semanas. Does this mean its replacement could be FC's new one?

In the very beginning, in case anyone needs a translation of what Daniel said about Camila?

Me hechizaste. It means you bewitched me. That's why he was using the little fingers in her face and growling.

Foxy: Here is the English of Gato Viejo's side by side translation of the e-mail.

Here is the link. It is very useful. Gato Viejo:

Daniel Diaz Acosta: You don't know me, but you'll want to do to cause I'm the passport to freedom and a better life, I know you are the owner of malquerida, and because of your situation you haven't been able to take possession and you won't be able to do it because you a fugitive of the justice, so your best option is me.

Let's meet next Saturday, if you you what is best for you, won't hesitate to do it, your life is in danger, and your cousin camila's too. I've found out who wants to hurt you. My only intention is to help you to solve once and for all this issue, please don't meet camila as you had planned before talking to me. First listen to me, and then you can make the best decision for you. Sincerely, Dionisio Ferrer.

Thanks Ms 5ft for a great recap despite everything that's going on in your real world.
I understand and appreciate your concern that Luzma's situation does not turn into a political discussion. (I can foresee a well intended discussion of rape and pregancy getting off topic and out of hand real fast). The writers are clever. They know what gets viewers adrenalin pumping and pregnancy has proven to be such a topic. That’s why in so many novelas someone announces to everyone's shock "estoy embarazada". When rape is the cause of the pregnancy, IMO the writers are well aware that they going to ruffle some feathers among the viewers. I for one intend to have the last laugh because I'm not taking the bait!! In any case, I'm sure that in the end Luzma is going to reign victorious.

Anita thanks so much for the translation of Dios e-mail. Our comments got crossed in the mail. I had tacked on a request for a translation. Many thanks.

Foxy--I *was* answering your request for a translation. I didn't clean it up very well before posting, but you get the idea. Viv & Raf know he's blowing hot air and are intrigued by what he's going to tell Dan--hence the phone call to Dan at the delegacion.

Sorry about unknowing sending the same message twice. I wrote the first message and when I tried to send it I was sent to Googles sign in page to sign in. (Apparently there's a limitation to how long you can stay signed in). Anyway, after returning to the comments page my post was gone so I rewrote it not knowing that it had already been sent. Please don't think I've lost my mind! The extra post is Googles fault for trying to make me look like an idiot. (just joking :--)

It happens to the best of us, Foxy.

I'm so late the gate today that there isn't much else to say! Except to thank Cat, who has tons going on, for valiantly keeping up her recapping duties. Thanks very much and good luck this weekend.

A truly awful turn of events, but, as someone said, so close to reality in many such cases. I literally gasped. The publicness of it all was also hard to take. As much as we wanted to see Leo get his, it was harder to see Luzma's most intimate experiences shared by one and all. The talented you actress, who was so good in the comic role in Llena de Amor, has been very good in this serious one.

Another night when I'm really looking forward to the coming episode.

Thanks to Rosemary, I believe, who sent good wishes to us on the east coast. Hard to say if all of the "Frankenstorm" warnings and precautions will be necessary in the end. Many people here in NJ mourning loss of life and destruction in Caribbean.

Thanks for great recap! Can anyone help me. Now I am confused. I've been following the Family Tree and after reading ANON207 Fri-10/26 3:41 pm there are glaring differences on who's who. The family tree listed Camilla as the true heir to MQ by cosanguinity with Daniel Monteverde. Daniel Monterde willed to Dandres also named Daniel because he thought that he was his love child with Agatha Acosta. But the fact that he share the same birthmark with Ximena proves that they also share the same father- Jose Julian Diaz.So both of them, Ximena and Daniel-Andres have no blood relation with the Monterde. Therefore, Camilla and Dandres is not related whatsoever and Camilla is the true Monterde heir (per the Family /tree issued earlier unless Rocio reveals that Pablo who has the same rare blood type with Camilla is also a Monterde due to her affair with either Humberto or Daniel which remains to be revealed. So please can anyone clarify who the real heiress is? Camilla or Ximena?

Vida- You got all your facts right. Ximena is NOT a Monterde, so therefor this is no way she can be the heiress.

If she is Dan's sister or cousin, she may later try to trade on that family relationship to gain favor with the "owner" of the ranch, Dan.

Don Daniel willed the ranch to Dan, not just because he suspected Dan was his son, but mostly to protect Camila since he knew Al and Dio were after the ranch via Al's marriage to Camila. His letter to Daniel said that he wasn't sure if Dan was his son or not. But he wanted Dan to protect Camila, take down the bad guys, and then afterwards share the ranch with Camila. If Dan is his son, then half the ranch rightfully belongs to him (the other half to Camila who was like a daughter to him). If Dan isn't his son, then the half of the ranch should be seen as a reward for fulfilling Don Daniel's last wish to protect Camila.

So to clarify, the legal heir is DDA (whether or not he's a Monterde) because that was in Don Daniel's will.

The unoficial heir is Camila, both because she is Don Daniel's only KNOWN blood relative, and because the will states that if DDA doesn't claim his inheritance it all goes to Camila. In addition to that, in the private letter from Don Daniel to DDA, he states his wish that the ranch be divided half and half between Cami and DDA.

Pablo is the unknown factor. I am sure once Camila and DDA find out that he's a Monterde, they will also want him to have a part of the ranch, or maybe even all of it if he's Don Daniel's son.

I have no idea what Isa's plans are for Dan's legal, and likely blood, father Mr. Diaz. Perhaps she wants him on hand to provide DNA comparisons? Perhaps she wants to cause some other kind of mischief with him? As far as she knows, he's DDA's only living relative, so if DDA dies, the father may have some legal claim on the ranch, which she could use to her advantage. Just like she tried to use Al being married to Camila to her advantage in the kill Camila plan.

Can someone post a header for this show so we can talk about the latest? Pretty please?

Daniel has stated in some earlier episode that Camila is the true owner of the ranch. He does not appear to want to claim it in his own name. Once Camila is rid of Alonssso she does not need any protection other than the law.

If Ximeana and Daniel are half-sibs it will be interesting to see how she takes it. Her initial reaction will probably be snobbish but the possibility of him inheriting the ranch will make her do a quick about-face. Bitch.

For Monday we need to worry about them resolving the issue of Bruno. He may have had a legitimate job in Monterrey that led to him knowing about Ximeana's larcenous activities, but he hasn't stopped being abusive toward women.
