Hey gang, I hope have something up later this evening.  Thanks for your patience.

I don't think I'm gonna catch up until Thursday! Ugh!

October is the cruelest month...

Except that is has my birthday and Halloween, squeeeee!!!!!!!!!

Blue Lass,

Not to worry, this TN is stuck on stupid. You are not missing a thing. The mini-caps are the best of this TN lately.

Sylvia,

Me and thee!

Rosemary Primera

Prima de cumpleaños!

ITA that the mini recaps are the best. I love that they are mini.

Well, happy happy to both of you! I feel better about October now.

And I love Hallowe'en! I wish I could dress up as a telenovela character, but there's no one around to appreciate it.

Happy birthday ladies! I'm sure you'll be having way more fun than any of our characters in this tn. Except maybe Willy. Even without Lucia, Willy seems to be back to his old fun self. He needs to give lessons to our other characters.

Thanks for your patience BL, Sylvia, RP and Vivi. This is a crazy month. Hey Cap'n when is your b-day? My mother's is the 25. And thanks for your round up of last week.

Here's the first 40 or so minutes - Fer continues to try to make viewers hate him b/c of his extreme stupidity. Lucia finds out about his illness (from Isa & Zoe of course) and learns out about Minnie being fired (I'm so sad its sunk to this). She is like Viewville and tells Fer she can't believe he has allowed EWM to manipulate him like this. During this convo, the witch calls and Lucia grabs the phone. She hears about the "trip" and runs to tell Isa. Fer follows, tries to say its complicated and doesn't appear as it does, and he will love Isa until the day he dies. If he weren't being one of the dumbest galans ever, it may have been sweet.

Adelita takes the flowers to the church. I'm assuming Willy sent Lucia and she rejected them. Willy helps her take the large bouquet to Padre Tio's church. As Vivi noted, Willy continues to have fun and be very funny (his mom was making him be her model as she made a shirt with lace - clearly the shirt is for a woman and there he is with his biceps and frills.)

Another interesting development was when Marisol was talking about her father's trip, Knuckles comments that perhaps they will become an item. Not surprisingly, Marisol freaks out and ends the date. She had run into Juancho earlier and receives a text from him. We can't understand why either of these dear brainless children don't realize that if they still swoon for one another and not their rebound trolls [this is one of Julia's best and spot on descriptions] perhaps they should be together. Oh yes, we've got at least 70 episodes for that epiphany.

Barf got caught lying and had to give her mom her payment from Knuckles (yes I'm being mean), a really nice purse he gave her for services. Juancho is onto to her so perhaps in about 30 episodes they will break up for real.

EWM terrorizes Doris, while the latter lost something of Poncho's and he's quite vexed with her.

Jorrible tries to visit Isa but the Fer/EWM situation has her a crying mess.

Thanks again for everyone being patient.

Hey Karen, no rush amiga; you are doing this out of the extreme goodness of your heart!

I am October 27 so your mom is practically my birthday buddy.

Willy sent the flowers to Adelita to make Lucia jealous and boy did it ever work! Wasn't he cute flexing his biceps in the frilly togs? That boy can't stop dancing, even when he is a devil on a shoulder.

Karen, thanks once again.

I am between Karen's mom and Sylvia with a birthday on the 26th. Are there anymore October birthdays out there?

I was too funny when Barf saw that Marisol had a handbag exactly like the one Knuckles gave to her that she had to give to her mother. You can almost see that girl turn green. I wonder if Knuckles' gets a group discount?

I wish that there were more Willy's out there. He is the only one that is happy most of the time and he has a killer smile. Shame on Luci for not appreciating his goodness.

RP

Thanks for the summary! Yep, that was all. One clarifying note is that although all the other ladies know Fer is under the weather, they don't know it might be cancer. They think he's going on a business trip. His daughters thought his overly emotional goodbye was strange.

The roomba is lost. It went out the door while Knuckles was standing there obliviously. Poncho is devastated, once.

OMG! I am watching my recording of today's episode, and the first 5 minutes are hilarious! You all are in for a treat. :)

Gosh - bunch of us! Oct 30 here. My sIster-in-law was born on Halloween.

EWM was scary enough today for Halloween. Those were some really scary shoulder pads in her sort of Chanel jacket. Who is she channeling anyway? Cristina Crawford? Pretty wild.

Audrey, must be those long, cold January nights, hee.

Yay! Chicho y El Nacho are back! Moncho's got the best moves even though he was trying hard to look like he couldn't shake his bootie. OMG that scene was hilarious.

OK, back to watching the rest of the show...

Okay, back on my work computer and see that autocorrect mangled the comment I made on my phone. Poncho is devastated about the missing Roomba, OBVS. I, however, am not. It was actually getting kind of funny when Marifer was dancing with it, but the noise it made was not helping the audio at all.

Can't wait to get home and see some dancing.

That was DELIGHTFUL. I'm so glad our favorite cockatoos have flown back to the nest! That's the kind of filler I love!

The first dancing scene was a scream, but the serenade was probably my favorite serenade EVER. How could Lucia not even smile? What a nunwitch. Juancho even had some smooth Michael Jackson dance moves!

And, just as I suspected, the rebar and insurance things have come back to bite Manwitch. Idiot. Fer is going to be furious if he ever snaps out of it.

Yes, the rap serenade was fantastic! Between that and the dancing, this is the first episode I've enjoyed in a while.

So, the summary from Tuesday:

The cockatoos are back. They demonstrated their stripper talents (without much clothing removal) and got Willy and Moncho to join in, to the great delight of all the ladies at the gym. Also, the gym has a bunch of stripper poles. So look forward to those classes. Willy talked his buddies into helping him serenade Lucia with an extended and awesome rap plus singing and grooving performance. The other casa hogar ladies loved it, but Lucia is still in a snit and refuses to be pleasant.

Manuela got Fer settled into the treatment facility, wherever it is. After she left, he had another dizzy spell and managed to call Isa and croak "te amo" into her voicemail before he keeled over.

Back at the office, the houses where Manuela authorized substituting inadequate rebar have major cracking problems. Also, the constructora's insurance is expiring that day and Manny hasn't renewed it. She convinced the foreman to do whatever he had to do to fix the concrete problem (not that SHE has any idea how to fix it) and to make sure no one knows it's her fault. She didn't even ask how expensive that is going to be.

Poor Cecilio walked in on Zoe macking on FFFFF. Sigh. Zoe mentioned to them that Fer headed out of town with Manuela and they were both surprised. Cecilio thinks something strange is going on.

Doris went to visit Mayela and found her all battered. She wanted to take her to the doctor but Jaibo came back and menaced them and took all Doris's money. So now Doris can't take Mayela to the doctor, AND she can't buy Poncho a new Roomba. Doris tried to convince Mayela to get away from Jaibo, unsuccessfully. Then she consulted Cecilio for legal advice.

Poncho got tired of Doris just using him and not falling for him, so he left. Doris is very upset about this.

Julia thanks for much for letting us know what happened yesterday.

Fer needs to wake up. While I can understand him not wanting to tell his kids he's ill, EWM was not the way to go.

As you and Vivi noted the first part was so good. It reminded me why I like this TN.

Also from Monday, I know we all know Jorrible is bad and now we have more proof on the love front. Isa calls him and he doesn't answer b/c he's in bed with another woman. So much for Isa's the love of his life and he's different than Fer.

Julia, thanks.

The Willettes were great and today the Casa ladies were still singing their song.

Horny is really looking old.

I hope that Fer's illness is making him so stupid. There is no excuse for Isa.

I want Cecilio to come and cook for me, he looks quite the chef. Zoe need to open her eyes, Cecilio adores her.

Why aren't the doctors talking to Fer instead of that whack job EWM? That is really strange and wouldn't fly in the USA.

Now I am worried that someone is going to get hurt because of EWM incompetence regarding the rebar and now we hear that there is no insurance. Since Horny has a chunk of her money in the company I hope she ends up on the street.

Rosemary Primera

So today we find out that Fer has been poisoned all this time. He fainted, and somehow that convinced EWM to go to scream at the bruja and figure out Fer is poisoned? Then EWM went home and looked up "heirba de las animas" on the internet and one of the symptoms was "perder voluntad" - loss of will - so that explains the lobotomy. There were several other symtoms as well. EWM reported the drug to Fer's doctor, and claimed that the ex-housekeeper had this mysterious tea of "heirba de las animas", insinuating that the ex-housekeeper was the one poisoning Fer.

But later she brings the test results to Fer's room and tells him he has to be strong, that he has cancer?

Thanks Julia. I am just finishing up watching yesterday's episode. What a hoot with all the "stripping", rapping, dancing and all the other fun stuff.

Way to go Poncho. I'm glad he's leaving. Maybe Doris will appreciate him more. I can't really see her pulling off her great charade without his help.

OK, I'm off to watch today's episode...

Thank you Ladies. While I have seen this novela already, many times, I kept missing these few episodes, and would you believe that Wednesday's DVR recording was not there. I was so upset, so another attempt to see this episode and another failure. Maybe someone thinks the pole dancing was a bit too much for me. LOL

I wanted to shout out and tell you the bruja's herbs were doing it to Fer, but I would have been banned from this site.

There is so much more to come, I still say please watch. It feels like it's been on for quite some time, but it has a long way to go.

I thank you so much for the recaps. I think maybe I would have written this TN and made it a total laugh, but I still think the acting and playfulness on this TN, makes it the most fulfilling.

Well, at least now we know why el Lobo has turned into a sheep. We've wondered about the poison all along, but weren't sure because the doc kept talking about cancer. But yesterday the doctor said he thought it could be poison causing some sort of breakdown in Fer's blood, so suddenly Manwitch remembered that, oh yeah, she had been poisoning him. She yelled at the bruja, who told her it wouldn't have hurt him at the recomended dosage, she just gave him too much, and of course Mani screeched that if he dies she is going to get the bruja thrown in prison. How she intends to do that without implicating herself, I have no idea. She just likes to screech and bluff. Mani is all hat, no cattle.

And of course she's trying to throw the blame on poor Mine now. At least the doc is pointed in the right direction so maybe Fer will get cured just in time to realize what a mess Mani has made of his company. At least she told Isa to sign up for new insurance, but she insisted on the cheapest plan possible even though Isa tried to tell her why they shouldn't, and I think that plus maybe the one-day gap in coverage will come back to bite them.

Finally Juancho is seriously considering breaking up with Barf. Did he say something to Moncho about when he and Barf were at a hotel, or did I misunderstand? Have they actually been en flagrante?

I love Marisol's sneaky new friend at school. Finally someone who's curious and sly enough to find out stuff and pass the info on to the right person.

Lo del jueves:

- Marisol's nosy friend tells her Barb was making a date with someone who wasn't Juancho. Marisol goes to tell Juancho, and he kisses her. She runs away.

- Meanwhile, Knuckles dumps Barb on the side of the road and calls Marisol to tell her his Dad's in the hospital. I'm still not sure whether this is true or another elaborate hoax.

- Moncho tells Willy is he doesn't quit playing with Adelita, he's going to quit his job at the gym. Willy figures out Moncho's sweet on her and teases him.

- Cecilio's mother's domestic recommendation shows up at Casa Lobo, and he's a little Chinese guy. Much inappropriate racist stereotyping ensues. He seems nice, though.

- Horty gets a call from some lounge lizard named Martin and makes plans to sleep out.

- Manuela pretends to be "terrified by thunder" and jumps into Fernando's arms.

- Juancho breaks up with Barbara.

- Adelita runs into Moncho and he acts goofy.

- Isa & Jorge make plans to go "puebleando" over the weekend. He wants to stay overnight in Morelia and promises to get separate rooms if she wants. Ugh.

Nellie - I don't think I've seen you here and thanks for stopping by. ITA that this TN has a great playful nature. Unfortunately I think the extension has given us a lot of painful and unfunny filler.

Julia - you are one with words; nunwitch is another winner. And thanks for Wed's rundown. While its great that we now know that those potions are the culprit, its going to take months before anyone finds out it is EWM. It does sicken me that EWM's is trying to pin it on the already fired Minnie.

The Willettes were a riot, BL. Truly the best thing that has been on this TN since our main protagonists lost their brains. Oh and the addition of Adelita has been fun too. The Casa Hogar ladies with name tags on for her sake was another cute touch.

BL we were posting at the same time. Thanks so much for Thursday's events and congrats for catching up. I'm still behind but think I'll be caught up by the weekend.

Hurray for Juancho leaving Barf!

Karen and Blue Lass,

Thanks for the update of EWM's evilness. I missed watching today so this is great to keep me up to date.

So Horny is going to have a sleep over with a lounge lizard, LOL.

Poor Mini, I hope she is in Het Het (I know, wrong TN but you get the drift).

RP

Thanks Blue Lass. My mouth fell open during all the stereotypical/racist/Chinese/Asian gags and comments. Seriously? I'd prefer they censor that stuff than mentions of poo, pee, or the showing of breasts! What decade are we in, anyway?

Anyhoo, Moncho and Adelita were cute, and I was glad Juancho broke up with Babs. I bet she convinces him that she's not a cheater and gets him to take her back. Then at some point Lucia will have to drop the bomb about seeing Babs kissing some dude.

Vivi, I'm afraid you're right -- nobody breaks up with somebody just once, *especially* in this telenovela. Sigh.

I was agog at the doofy Chinese man gags also. Really?! He seems like a nice man, he's obviously capable, his Spanish is fantastic so it's not like he's fresh off the boat and unassimilated or whatever. Why the racist idiocy? At least Doris and the girls seem to really like him, so maybe they can move on and he can be an actual character instead of a caricature.

YAY, Juancho dumped Barf. I think they might actually stay broken up, except that Marisogullible will almost certainly feel compelled to stay with Knuckles while his father is "dying" (which I doubt), so if Juancho can't get back together with her he very well might go back to Barf. For once I would like to see someone in a telenovela decide to be unattached or wait for something better to come along, rather than resigning themselves to a relationship with someone they can't stand when they can't be with the one they want.

As a preface, I think most of you know that in my real life job I'm a professor of media study images and representations. Thus this extremely unfortunate and racist turn in the show is quite distressing. Everyone has noted the horror so I don't have to add my own outrage.

Manwitch continues to seduce Fer. She gets him to give her his pj top and they "chat" in bed. As they reminisce about the past, she goes in for a kiss and he has an attack; high point of this nonsensical nightmare.

Isa tells her mom about her "weekend." Naturally Sarita has concerns as Isa doesn't love Jorrible.

Juancho tells Willy he broke up with Barf and Willy gets angry. BTW they are having this conversation in front of a store so Lucia and Reyna (those name tags aren't just helping Adelita remember the Casa Hogar gals) hear Willy disparaging Marisol (Juancho's informant on Barf's cheating ways). Lucia defends her sobrina and tells them that she saw Barf some tipo the other day.

Willy confront Barf, she lies and Lala believes her. I must say at that though Lala can confess the faults of her kids, she needs to be able to see when they are lying to her. Unfortunately with Barf and rIcky that's all the time.

Knuckles' dad is actually ill and the creep thinks he's about the inherit. His father's lawyer doesn't think the father will die soon. And even if the father does croak, the lawyer, who is moral for a change, will not reveal what's in papi's will.

Zoe forces F5 to get rid of his former girlfriends pictures (they are all in bikinis). Can they just divorce already?

Doris wrongly advises Marisol to stay with Knuckles and so our poor silly teen tells Juancho they can't get together b/c she's in love with criminal in the making.

Oh, no Adelita appears to have a crush on Willy and gives him a note. We end the episode with him responding to her. My bet is he'll sign it as Moncho or confess his love for Lucia.

EWM continues her lying ways and accuses the staff where Fer is staying of taking his cell phone. She finally gives him her cell phone. Ok how did Isa & Jorrible end up in the same place as the witch and Fer?

Barf and Knuckles made plans to meet but Marisol shows up. We see the two girls outside of his apt with Marisol getting mad. It's too early and she's not bright enough to realize she interrupted their date but hope springs eternal. As does my hope that Juancho will follow our Julia's advice and stay single.

Monday's preview was funny with our two couples currently with the wrong people standing on the corner with the fortune teller describing EWM as evil. Good times!

Many thanks Karen. Fabulous mini-recap. I just watched my recording. I for one, would love to hear your educated/informed opinion of the potrayal of the new man servant.

I am glad the Lucia information bomb about Babs kissing some guy came out now. The chances of Juancho keeping strong about breaking up have now greatly increased. Yay!

Ugh. I think Thursdays are Tasteless Racist Stereotype Days. As I recall, I got the debut of that hideous African voodoo statue as well.

I got a huge kick out of Zoe's brown and white china coffee pot. Kind of looks like a nutcracker caricature coffee pot. Do you think it's German? Very cool.

Um, I guess if it were German, it would say "kaffe" and not "coffee".

BL - how unfortunate Thursdays seem to be so culturally problematic.

Vivi - One of the things that stands out to me is contrast b/t those who are different b/c of class versus race/ethnicity. Our barrio friends speak fast, use slang, and their attire may be questionable from time to time. However, they are not "marked" as the new servant is.

Here's what I mean by marked: he does not stand out b/c of his dress (its a uniform) or his speech (his Spanish is very good). So what makes him funny, aside from his name and other audio cues, is the fact that he is NOT Mexican. His being Chinese and all the stereotypes that have been attached to that idea make him always an outsider (a common warped view from many in the West towards those from the East - Asians are often thought to be forever foreign regardless of how many decades their families have been in a place). This characterization is supposed to just be funny but insidiously operates within a framework that views Lu as never fitting in or really being Mexican; he's always the Other and there to be mocked.

Thanks so much Karen for your expert view. This stuff fascinates me. US media has also suffered from this problem of always making Asians "the other/the alien." Then they disappeared all together from US tv and movies. They became invisible. There seems to be a few new shows with Asian actors starring in them. There was a story about it on NPR the other day. But now the issue is that all bits of Asian-American culture have been stripped away from these characters, and nearly all of them could be easily interchanged with White actors-- same back story and all. It was an interesting story. Wonder if you heard it?

Ahoy all, sorry I haven't been around in awhile, I have just been so darn busy with my own life I haven't had a chance to watch AC for a couple of weeks. It sounds like I have been lucky to have missed the typical racist bull***t that occasionally pervades our comedies. They had similar racist-against-Asian overtones in Juan Querendon and also Una Familia as I recall. It's very weird.

Vivi, I didn't hear that story on NPR. I'll have to look for it. Thanks.
