Por ella soy Eva #67 10/18/12: Don't Give In To Him 'Cause He Will Only Ask For More.

Rebeca is in Plutarco's office haranguing him again about getting married, and Pluto complains she is acting just like Antonia did.  Rebeca reminds him of the incriminating video she has of him and that time is ticking away for him to marry her.  Tick tock tick tock, she taunts him.

Fernando calls his pal Santiago to tell him he's late for work and an important meeting.

Rebeca is rattling off a list of personal chores for lackey Onesimo to do for her.  She asks him if he told Pluto about her visit to Pluto's home, and when he says no she tells him she will repay his discretion.  He misunderstands and she snaps at him to take his eyes off her body (she does have more curves than the Indy 500).  Pluto calls Onesimo.  Pluto thinks the video is a lie, but he wants Onesimo to go search for it just in case.

Everyone is at the big colorful table and Helena is reporting on the successes of the trip to Playa Majagua.  First Eva, and then Pluto kvell about Helena's participation.  Rebeca glowers.  Adriano asks where Santiago is, and Fernando makes excuses for his buddy.  Santiago bursts in apologizing, but Adriano doesn't want to hear apologies, he wants him at work on time.  Renato wants his work situation defined for him, and makes the observation that a lot of the workers there don't know exactly what their job is.  Eva is angry at this accusation, but Adriano agrees.  Everyone looks worried.

Modesto is meeting with Eugenia's doctor, who is telling him about her prognosis.  The doctor says that Eugenia's lack of activity and motivation have contributed to her illness.  Modesto protests that he saw Eugenia happy being a mother.  But her son is now dead, the doctor tells him.  Modesto visits Eugenia in her room.  She is not happy to see him and she reiterates what the doctor told him.  Modesto took away her career as an actress and then took on a second family.  "Now I am no longer anything," she flatly tells him.

OMG, it's taken Mousse Boy to point out that almost nobody at Grupo Imperio ever seems to do any work.  Adriano wants everyone, from the assistants to the executives, to work on a report detailing what they do and what their aspirations are.  He wants it first thing tomorrow morning, and he tells them their jobs depend this information.  Eva tries to excuse Helena from this task but Helena is uncomfortable with this.  Eva continues to object and Adriano looms over her to say that in all his years no one has been indispensable.

Onesimo searches Rebeca's apartment, and takes time out to enjoy a roll on her bed imaging the possibilities.  He finds a camera in the bedroom and takes the disc out of it, cackling gleefully at what it might contain.  Viewerville wonders if it's Pluto and Rebe's version of 'Finding Nemo' and just what that connotes.

Fernando is upset at having to do the report, but Marcela sees it as an opportunity for everyone to talk about their aspirations.  Ferni asks Marcela to do his report "to save time" but she declines.  Renato walks in and Ferni yells at him that this is all his fault.  While Santi sleeps at his desk, Ferni and Renato go at it with Ferni repeatedly starting to take off his jacket to brawl. Marcela intervenes to keep Ferni calm.  Out in the hall Renato pretends to befriend Santi and tells him he will give whatever support he needs.  But Mousse Rat Boy then takes advantage of Santiago staying late at the office to do his report and shows up at Angelica's to invite her to dinner.  She accepts con gusto.

The Evalettes are in Rebeca's office antagonizing Rebeca by admiring pictures of Helena and Pluto in the report on the trip to Playa Majagua.  Rebeca throws them out and curses that climber (trepadora) once again.  But yesterday we found out that Rebeca herself is from the barrio, and this accounts for her frequent use of the word.  Eva is in Adriano's office and is scolding him not to address her with such familiar terms as mi amor or mi vida.  She doesn't want him to fawn over her so much.  He wants a besito, and Eva reluctantly offers him her hand which he gobbles up.  Rebeca brings in the report, which Adriano flings across the room as he attempts once more to get a kiss out of Eva.  Adriano offers to buy Eva anything she wants- a new house, a sports car, a dog.  What Eva wants is for Adri to rehire all those women that were fired.

Helena scolds Eva in her office that she put her in a very delicate position in front of everyone.  Mimi then scolds Eva for the same, and Eva acknowledges her mistake.  Lucia is worrying to Helena about her job.  Pluto stalks, I mean walks in and tells Helena she doesn't need to worry about doing the danged report.  Helena flips out about everyone trying to protect and coddle her.  She doesn't need this macho crap.  Women are capable of doing the same job required of men.  Pluto apologizes and leaves with his tail between his legs.  Helena laments that it's not only the men at GI, but even Eva who has this macho attitude.

Later Helena apologizes to Pluto and invites him to dinner.  He pants and swoops in for a kiss which Rebeca interrupts.  Rebeca is bringing them the report on the trip and falsely apologizes to Helena that there's no mention of her in it.  Pluto is disgruntled and Helena says there's nothing to be done about it.

Angelica has a nice dinner laid out for Santi when he gets home, and he expresses surprise and gratitude that she is doing what it takes to make their marriage work.  Viewerville wonders what sort of guilt prompted this display; we thought Renato was gay?  Well, at least his hair.  Angelica wants to celebrate (translation: get drunk) and Santi protests that he has an important day at work tomorrow.  She wins out because he has no will power.

It's night time at GI.  Someone sneaks in and erases from a computer one of the reports that don Adri has requested.

Uh oh, Eva shows up with tamales at Helena's house.  Pluto comes out playing with Lalo and Eva steams.  She says it's not good that the vice president is here in the house of the project director.  Nothing bad is going on, Pluto tells her, but Eva persists that he is recently widowed and Helena is a single mother and people at GI will talk.  "Beginning with you," Pluto replies.  Pluto argues that Eva is jealous, but not for him.  "For whom are you jealous," he asks Eva while Helena looks confused.  Pluto then questions why she lives in a pension with a crap car when she is an owner in the business and can afford better.  He again accuses Eva of hiding something.  Pluto excuses himself while Eva contorts her face in gestures of anger at the Putz.

It starts out with a kiss, even though you're only friends.
Now there's nothing wrong with this, but this is where his act begins.
He'll hold you and tell you that's what love is for.
But don't give in to him 'cause he will only ask for more.
No, don't give in to him, 'cause I'm the one who loves you more.

Juan Carlos rants to Mimi about Pluto's offenses.  He calls Pluto a vulture and imitates one about to pounce on poor Helena.  JC tells Mimi that Antonia's money is untouchable- she gave it to Eva, not to JC.

Pluto is in Adriano's office telling him that finances won't allow them to rehire the 100 women previously fired.  Adri tells him to try and Pluto once again whines that the finances are his area and doesn't Adri trust him?  Adri does trust him and he confesses to Pluto that Eva has agreed to be his girlfriend.  Adri intends to propose to her.  Pluto quickly suggests they take a trip around the world (translation: get her out from under my feet).  Adri sings and moons over Eva while Pluto grimaces.

Next morning an Evalette comes around to collect the reports the employees have written about their jobs.  Oh no!  Marcela's report is nowhere to be found on the computer!  Who could have done such a thing?  Three guesses.

The song is an old Gary Puckett and the Union Gap song.

Great recap, Bill. One thing I enjoy is the characters have more than one dimension.

I thought Modesto showed concern for Eugenia, unless he was just faking it for the doctor.

Onesimo sniffing around Rebeca's bed was pretty gross, although rubbing on the face cream and his backwards tie were funny. The entire cast is doing an excellent job.

Poor Adri. So deep in love and such an unwitting fool. Santi, also a poor fool.

Adri's idea for everyone to write about their work isn't a bad idea. My former boss said he did that when he first started working in his new position.

La Paloma

I agree. Adrian's idea to have employees write about your work and aspirations is a rather common new practice and a good idea. We did this at our organization recently. So that's two reality based things in one novella. (Scary), the 2 nd one being gender bias (not a good idea).

Outstanding recap, Bill!

I was thinking last night, what a tremendous collection of comedians in this TN. Camil is phenomenal of course. Paty Navidad (Mimi) has tremendous comic talent. Jesus Ocha (Adriano) has really surprised me - a few times now, he has stolen the scene from Camil, which is next to impossible. Avila (Onesimo) is fantastic at improv and turning the lamest scenes funny. Pablo Valentin (Fernando) can surprise you with some great zingers, but his character in this show is so annoying, that we don't get to see him shine. And don't forget Mariana Seoane who so overplays the femme fatál that she's a crack-up!

Thanks, Ithabill! Finding Nemo, indeed!

I think Mousse Boy just pumped Angi for info, so to speak. I must say his scarf looked better last night.

The Adri/Eva romance is really pretty sad because you know it will end in such humiliation for Adri. However, his scenes are so funny that I have to laugh. He is a great actor.

Thank you, Ithabill. I like your colorful way of describing things.

The person who deleted Marcela's report from the computer was wearing a light-colored suit. Only one person was wearing a light-colored suit last night, and aside from that we all know which man feels most threatened by Marcela's competence.

But he'd feel much more threatened by her competence if she password-protected her computer and also backed up her files!!

As for Renato being gay, that was just a guess on our parts - and he is the one who knew about Candy Sweet. So we can't really be sure. And it may not matter much, since the one thing that really seems to turn him on is the opportunity to take advantage of others.

And I'm okay with the romance ending in humiliation for Adriano. He's an idiot. He still thinks men are better than women in every way. I don't see how falling in love with a man in disguise will teach him a lesson. It only proves that some men are smarter than Adriano, but we already have plenty of evidence of that.

Speaking of which, I like that Rebeca and Angelica are evil so that the story is clearly NOT saying that only men are bad. On the other hand, I'm not thrilled that with their humble backgrounds, the story may seem to be implying something about that, even if unintentionally.

Bill-thank you for this great, wonderful recap. Onesimo was funny in Rebeca's apartment. He was drooling over that video. The cream thing was a little weird, and his rolling on her bed was funny. What will Rebeca do when she finds out that dvd is missing?

Maybe Modesto does care for Eugenia more than we thought. The doctor was so spot on, about Eugenia. She never left the house except when Eva came to call and take her out. I'm glad Eva took her to the Doc cause what would have happened to Eugenia if she hadn't? I do like the fact Eugenia told Modesto off. That is a good start for her.

Yeah, I don't know if Renato is gay either. I wonder too if he is. With the Candy Sweet thing and him taking Angie out.

Poor Marcela, I really hope there is some way for her to come up with a report. I hope she doesn't lose her job.

Funny how Helena noticed the machismo in Eva. Eva/JC needs to dial down the jealousy or Helena is going to take a good look at her. And I don't blame Helena for being angry about how they coddle her. She wants to stand on her own two feet.

Adri is dumb. I like, so far, how Eva keeps one upping him. Loved the kissing of Eva's hand and badge, too funny. I love how Eva avoids being kissed by Adri and the little demands she makes on the relationship. Adri will be totally done in if he ever finds out Eva is really JC.

I think Pluti wants to get rid of Adri. I got the impression when he was talking to Adri about taking that trip with Eva, Pluti really wants to take over. I too wonder what Pluti's origins are.

Julie, thank you for your insight on the file saboteur. Good call!

Bill, in response to your title song, here's another:

You can dance every dance with the guy
who gives you the eye, let him hold you tight.
You can smile every smile for the man
who held your hand beneath the pale moonlight.

But don’t forget who’s taking you home
and in whose arms you’re gonna’ be,
So darling, save the last dance for me.

... If he asks if you’re all alone, can he walk you home,
you must tell him no...

Madelaine, your remark "Adri will be totally done in if he ever finds out Eva is really JC" was kind of a revelation to me... because it never occurred to me that maybe he doesn't have to find out. Maybe Eva can disappear as mysteriously as she appeared.

Helena's going to have to find out, though. It's one of the telenovela rules/cliches. But maybe Adriano can be spared the humiliation.

So... I was wrong about Rebeca's mention of the video, thinking it was merely a figure of speech. I still think she is bluffing, though. And even if she does have a video, I doubt that it's on the disk Onesimo found.

Or if it is on that disk, I doubt it's the only copy... but at least Pluto and Onesimo will stop looking if they think they've found it. (After Marcela losing her report, I'd like to think that at least ONE person at GI knows enough to back up all important data!)

Julie- I was thinking as I was watching this last night that Adri would be totally destroyed if he ever finds out that Eva is really JC. I think Adri is truly being sincere about wooing Eva, on Antonia's good advice. I really hope Adri never finds out that Eva is really JC. I too think there may come a time when Eva disappears, for what ever reason, and JC will reappear and Adri will never know.

Oh my Ithabill...what a recap. Of course you have ruined Finding Nemo for me...and since it's one of my grandson's favorites, I'll now be watching it alongside him with a whole 'nother set of reactions.

Haven't seen the episode yet but looking forward to it. And thanks for another song title...always a treat.

Ithabill - fine recap. My favorite: "Finding Nemo." The photos were cute too.

Onésimo cracks me up. So cute when he went back and straightened Rebecca's bed. Agree the DVD probably isn't the right one, but I bet it’ll be hilarious.

Grrrr - If Fern is the culprit that deleted Marcela's report, he is a poco hombre. Since she's put in so many years loving this doofus, I was hoping it would be Renato.

Eva sure used an extra heavy hand on her makeup last night and seemed to skip putting on foundation around the eye area, as if she put her glasses on first and then applied it. Must be a pain for JC to wear so much greasepaint every day.

Ya know if Fern did indeed erase Marcela's report, he is still uncomfortable with Marcela working. What an A$$. Who does he think will take over that office. It can't be him, when does he ever work? He never worked even when JC was there. Santi at least works some of the time. Fern will have to lose the machismo but I'm not counting on it. His wife Marcela is really the breadwinner here I think.

Oh, the nice dinner Angie "prepared" for Santi - that wasn't prompted by guilt, I don't think. It was take-out. She threw away the bags and containers when Santi left the room for a moment.

As for the drinking and staying out late - someone should remind Angelica that if she's going to marry a guy for his money, she shouldn't interfere with his ability to keep his job. He was a lousy worker to begin with, and now he's declining fast.

you know, I didn't make up Finding Nemo. I remembered it from the list of 'games' that Rebeca and Pluto play. It struck me at the time, because it doesn't quite lend itself to what they have in mind as much as say, Little Red Riding Hood... although I did also wonder what the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves game entails.

LOL Ithabill! I'm going to try to get the dirty thoughts out of my mind. Thank you for the fun recap.

I felt so bad for Marcela-- one of the few people who actually works at that company. Like many of you, I have been through this write what you actually do/job descriptions execrise too. It's very helpful. Hopefully, it will help out some of the women at the company. I was just as mad as Helena when Eva/JC tried to excuse her from the exercise. Grrr.... JC still has a lot to learn.

Thanks much Ithabill. I especially enjoy the added graphics. Finding Nemo - brilliant!

I think the actor play Renato a.k.a. Mousse Guy (Ferdinando Valencia) is pretty amazing. This is the third role I've seen him in and each one has been completely different. In CME he was a real long-lashed sweetheart - quite innocent in many ways for his years. In LFDD he played a nasty sleaze of a slob Saul - a complete 180 from the CME role, and he was totally convincing! It was scary! Now here he is - the mystery man, yet already completely different from the previous characters.

Audrey- Yeah, Ferdinando is really talented. He was totally different as a bad boy in ENDA too. Usually guys who are that pretty get pigeon-holed into one type of role. But he really seems to be able to do it all.

Ithabill - I remember Rebecca mentioning their game of "Finding Nemo" in one of their hot tub scenes. LOL!

I've never seen Finding Nemo. Now I'm afraid to. ;-)

The saddest thing about that movie, Julie, is that once a young African-American basketball player said that was his favorite movie because the father tried so hard to look for his son. He never knew his own father. His interview was very poignant.

Aw!! That's so sad. :(
