Amor Bravío #65 (Uni 60) Fri 11/16/12 D’Aaron Plays One of His Trumps; and Cam Wears Her Heart On Her Sleeve

Capítulo 65

[In this episodio the Great and Wonderful Oz…er…DDA makes his revelatory appearance, albeit over the phone, to Dionisio, getting Dio to back off his threats against D’Andres’ leaving the hospital alive; Camila reveals her true self and emotions towards El Chófer de D’Andres to her male-friend, El Amigo de Mariano.  Additionally, Pablo makes it out of surgery; and Natalia notes to Luzma her suspicions re: the Cam ‘n D’An duo. ]

Teresa and Padre Anselmo bring Amanda back from the police station.  Teresa learns that there’s a history of sorts between Amanda and that devil, Dionisio Ferrer.  Of course, Tere offers her legal advice when Amanda is ready for it.  IN the meantime Padre promises to bring back Natalia from the hospital and to keep her from Dio’s clutches.

Rafael decides he’s got to do something to stop Dio.

The surgeon comes out with good news for los Albarrán.  Pablo survived the operation and will recover.  Cami tells them how happy she is for them all and goes to the chapel to give the news to Luzma and Nat.

HIsssadora gets off the phone with Dio and then screams for her good-for-nothing-no-longer-Alone-so to get up there since she’s got something to dis-’n-cuss over.  Lonnie goes upstairs to her room and sits down.  Yeah, says Mamadora, Ximeana’s got him by the balls due to putting the pin back into his pinball or rather, putting the point back onto his pencil for him, she hisses, but a “true man” is measured by how he acts, not by the number of notches on his bedpost!  She demands to know what he had to do with Leo’s shooting of D’Andres earlier that evening.  It seems he’s not only Camila’s lover, but also a spy for DDA just like they thought.  How does she know?  Because Dio’s man investigated the letters of recommendation and nobody there knew who he was, that’s why!  Lying, mealy-mouth de Lonnie tries to say he has no idea who’d try to kill the guy but who cares cuz he’d just as soon the jerk wad dies.  Mamadora grabs him by the shoulders and screams at him.  “LIAR!! Don’t lie to me!  You wanted to get rid of him and I told you it was too dangerous, but you went ahead anyway!  And, now if he doesn’t die we are going to be up to our eyeballs in it because of your stupidity!”

Lowly, lily-livered de Lonnie finally admits he only wanted to give the guy a lesson, and never told Leoncio to kill him.  There’s no reason anybody should suspect them anyway since it’s D’Andres everyone knows he’s got it in for, he tells her.  Hisssadora screams at Lame-brain de ‘Lonso even louder now.  “--Leo is already connected to us and so everything he does is going to be connected to us.  Got it, you moron??”  Lon starts biting his nails and she slaps his hand away.

In the hospital chapel, Luzma cries tears of relief and thanks the virgencita.  Cami also prays afterwards that the virgencita will save D’Andres as well.

Meanwhile, the surgeons manage to remove the bullet from D’An without incident.  “Plink!”

Back at the townhouse, Hisssadora’s hissy-fit continues.  She informs Alonso that Dio believes that not only is D’Andres a spy for DDA, but that surely he arranged for D’Andres to seduce Camila to insure she’d be willing to do whatever he wanted her to do!   “—No, sure but she’ll hate both of them when she finds out!”  By that time, yells Issa, it will be too late!  It’s a sure bet that he talked her into handing it all over to Daniel if not himself, instead!  “--That man did everything you should have done.  He seduced her, got her all involved with him and then convinced her to hand over the ranch!  Andres is capable of giving him a very nice chunk [tajada = piece, slice], too, to Daniel in exchange for keeping the spread.  Andres acted arrogantly and cocky, like he owned the place!  Now, having Camila at his side, he’s going to do with her--and with her fortune—whatever the heck he wants to with it!!”

Lon isn’t so sure, he says, cuz if that’s what he was going to do, then why would D’Aaron agree to his daddy’s getting the power of attorney?  Mama says that’s the one thing she is still mulling over.  Well, perhaps Andres isn’t as important to him as we think.  No, cautions Isadora, he’s been playing with them for a while now, so best not to underestimate him.  He’s been playing his cards so as to probably leave us with no way out.  Speaking of spying, Ximena is secretly listening in on Isa and Al’s high-decibel conjecture-fest.  “—I’m more convinced that because his daddy’s on our side, Andre’s death is more convenient for us!”  Outside in the hallway, with her ear glued to Isadora’s bedroom door, Ximeana tells herself how happy she’s going to be when she upsets Cami’s apple-of-her-eye cart by telling her that D’Andres was really being paid by somebody to be her lover!!!  “—Bru-ja-ja-ja-ja!!!!”

La Mama Metiche de Gussie already has already discerned and observed firsthand the “unthinkable” relationship between her daughter and their chauffeur and scolds Cami for it.  Gussie goes after Cam for her PDE’s (public displays of emotion as opposed to A’s, i.e.,  affection) that people are starting to talk!  (Ehh!  It’s probably just plain sour grapes and them wishing those pecs were the ones lying next to their pillows instead!)  “Look at you!  The only thing missing is for you to be screaming out to the whole world that you and he are involved!”  Cam gives up trying either to avoid or to pretend at this point. “—Would that I could, Ma!  Would that I could!”  The only thing she’s interested in now, she adds, is that he comes out of this alive, safe and sound!

In another part of the hospital, Mariano tells bro, Yago, to patch things up between him and Pablo.  At the same time, Rocio tells hubby Cayetano that she’s afraid something more will happen to Pablo if he doesn’t make sure he sends him away and gets him out of that Luzma girl’s clutches and those of her sicko uncle!  Cayetano agrees to make the kid see reason and go off to school as planned.

Back at La Buenaventura, Refugio has it out with Ileana over the phone call Mariano just made to Refu telling her that Pablo’s out of danger.  For some strange reason Illy thinks they should’ve placed the call to her instead of la nana ésta.  Refu tells her that instead of insulting her and being such a pain, she’d be better off figuring out a way to fix the trouble she’s caused them all!  Ill-y denies having anything to do with any of what happened.  Sure you do, accuses Refu, cuz if it weren’t for your silly plotting and scheming, Leoncio wouldn’t have taken it out on my Pablo by shooting him!

Meanwhile, El Pervertido de Tío Leo is screaming at a locked door where they’ve thrown away the key back at Dio’s place.  “—Blame her!  If they found out it was me it was because they saw me; it was because of Sra. Amanda!  I want him dead!  He should burn in Hell with the rest of them!!  It was Boss Alonso (visions of Boss Hogg anyone?) who asked me to do it!  Get me out of here!  Get me out!”
 ~~End Part I~~

~~Part II~~
Back at the hospital again, Osvaldo, Luzma and Nat are relieved that at least Pablo is out of danger.  They all agree that nobody deserves such a wicked turn.   While he’s gone getting a bottle of water at the cafeteria,  Nat mentions to Luzma that she was surprised at Cam’s attitude toward D’Andres after finding him lying unconscious and bleeding.  “—She really feels something special for that guy, huh?”  Luzma says sure, just like she does for everybody. “—No, I mean I had no idea the two of them had a romantic thing going.”  Luzma can’t deny it so she admits they are seeing each other but that it’s got to stay on the q.t.    “--Nobody can know about it until the two of them are ready to make it public.”  Nat agrees and says she understands they might have a valid reason for a secret relationship.

In the lounge area, Cam and Vivi finally have a chance to catch up on things.  Vivi tells her now that all the others are off somewhere else to feel free to unload and to let off steam [desahogarse].  Cam admits to being terrified [pavor = terror, dread] D’Andres will die on her just like Luis did all those years ago.   “—I just couldn’t bear [resistir= withstand, handle, endure] it!”  Vivi assures her that he’s been through times just as dangerous and tough as these and managed to survive so he’ll no doubt weather through this as well.   It suddenly hits Cam that Vivi knows D’Andres much better than she thought or that Viv may have ever let on.  Cara de Ruh-Roh! de Big-Mouth Vivi.

In another part of the waiting area, Padre Anselmo arrives and learns Pablo’s been saved [librarse] but that D’Andres is still in surgery having the bullet removed.  Rafa shows up just as Dio gets a call on his cell and excuses himself.

Dio takes the call in an adjacent area off to the side.  “—Good evening, Sr. Ferrer!” “—Who is this?”  D’Aaron’s on the other end of the phone.  “—This is Daniel Diaz Acosta.” (Duhn-dun-dun-dunnnn!) Aha, says Dio, what a surprise since he’s been trying to get hold of him for a while now.  No, replies D’Aaron, the one surprised is he since D’Andres is wounded and may die in the hospital there.  “—I certainly hope it wasn’t you who gave the order to kill him.”  D’Andres better leave that hospital in one piece and upright or DDA’ll turn into Dio’s worst nightmare!  (Make that second worst nightmare, his worst having been marrying and bedding Agustina!!)  “That man is my most trusted of spies and was sent to spy on all of you, so understand that I am aware of everything that’s been going on there.”  Cara de Oh-Shit-Alonzo-Just-What-Have-You-Done-To-Us? de Dio.  “—So I’m warning you!  You’d better make sure that D’Andres comes out of there alive and in one piece, or not even Dios himself will be able to save you from a dog’s age behind bars!” Dio’s antiperspirant has suddenly stopped working.  D’Aaron’s message came through loud and clear. Dio stops as his mental GPS does a bit of “Detour.  Recalculating. Detour.  Recalculating.”

Viv catches her mistake and says she’s just reiterating what she’s learned through Cami herself about his wife dying and all.  Right?  Cam says she doesn’t remember, but all the same, if that’s what she told Vivi, then ok.  (QTH is that all about?  What has Viewerville missed in storyline inference here?)  Vivi does more of what a BFF does best: consoles.  “—Just because it happened with Luis, doesn’t mean it will happen to Andres.  He’s a strong guy [vato=bato=young man, boy, guy, dude -n. Mex.] and he will make it.  He’s anchored to [aferrar=moor, grasp onto, hooked onto] this life because he doesn’t want to lose you!”   Cam straightens up and dries off her tears.  “—Yeah.  Now that’s the Camila I know!  the scrappy fighter; The Invincible Gal!” “—Yessirree Bob!  That’s what I am turning into.  I’ll put up with this just a bit longer and then, as soon as Andres is recovered, and as soon as Becerra gives his statement about all he’s told me, I am then going to make my relationship with Andres public and I am going to put Alonso and Dionisio in jail!  “

Vivi’s a bit confused here.  “--Why do you say that, Camila?”  Because they’re the worst sort, says Cami.  D’Andres has told her that the man is interested in her, married to her mother and all, and not like she could speak about it, but in brief, he’s some sort of gangster!  “—Then be careful, Camila!”  Of course I’ll be careful.  I’ll be quiet about it all until I’m certain all my people are out of harm’s way.  I only hope that Dio hasn’t had anything to do with this business.”  Vivi’s saucer-eyed impactada to hear all this coming from Cami.  “—You think he had something to do with what happened to Andres?”  (Yes indeedy, Speedy!  I love ya dearly, Vivi, but don’t tell me this comes as some sort of a shocker.)  Yes, admits Cam.   “--Andres told me that he threatened to kill him if he got involved romantically with me and I don’t know that Alonso didn’t say something or other…..”  Viv continues bucking Cami up with more poetic platitudes, but bottom line, she and Rafa will be there for her and sending her and D’Andres good vibes to speed along his recovery.

Rafa eavesdrops now on Dio as best he can without looking obvious. (Of course, though, it’s quite obvious to Viewerville what’s what—and good deal for the editors who left it to the B team here while they snuck out for a cigarette break .  Somehow, our genius wordsmith must have gotten back to his bro, D’Aaron, with the 411 on Leo Pervertido, Lon and Dio, and they raced to put together a plan!)  Dio’s telling D’Aaron he’s mistaken cuz he had nothing at all to do with D’Andres’s getting shot.  If the man’s a spy of his, then DDA must realize he’s Dio’s right hand man also. He too wants to know who is responsible for this and would have no reason to lie to him.  D’Aaron tells Dio to talk to the hand cuz he knows that Dio knows--and it was one of his men who did it!  So, as long as D’Andres remains in the hospital, and until he leaves and is fully recovered, there will be no rendezvous between them, period!  (Viewerville high-fives it!)

Dio stalls for more time and a way to persuade him otherwise.  (No doubt those “investors” of his are breathing down his thick and hairy neck again.)   He’s told him he had nothing to do with D’Andres’s getting shot.  And, just what does DDA mean, exactly, that he “knows about everything.” D’Aaron tells him he’ll find out when they finally meet and if he wants it to be soon, then he had better start praying [póngase a rezar] for D’Andres’s fully recovering.   Click!  “—Daniel?  Daniel?”  Dio catches Rafa momentarily staring at him before glancing away and then looks back at his phone.

Back in the main lounge area, Gussie starts complaining to the padre about all the gossip that’s got to be making the city circuit about now.  Os suggests it could work in their favor, that is if somebody saw what happened, then they might report Leoncio to the police, right?  Padre Anselmo agrees.  Dio comes back to the group and asks for a moment with Rafa.  (Ruh-roh, dude!  Play it cool.)  The two walk off “for a bit of air.”  Uh, yeah.

Irene and Sleepy-eyed Tolentino (who somehow has me wondering if he’s got some connection to those three dwarfs, Dopey, Grumpy and Sleepy) catch up with Luzma and Nat in the chapel.  Dopey de Tol asks how’s it goin’ and such.  (Duh, just what do you think it has been like for her?)  She is better now that Pablo’s out of danger.  “—I wouldn’t be so sure.”  Irene elbows the jerk and squawks at him.  Well, it’s the truth, he says, cuz after all Luzma’s sicko uncle is still running around lose out there somewhere.  Grumpy de Tol adds, “Just like it’s true that Pablo’s parents don’t want Luzma anywhere near him and won’t ever accept her!”  Her relationship with Pablo is destined to fail because of it.  Nat chimes in a good word for the triumph always of true love.  Tolentino tells her to can it.  “—Don’t let’s play the fools here, Natalia.  We’re from separate classes.  We’re poor folks and they’re rich folks.  Like my mama always says: ‘dogs with dogs and cats with cats.’ ” (I’m not quite sure which animal branch he fits into, but I’d say Mama was on to something and add  jack-asses with jack-asses about now.  “He-e-e-haw-w-w-w-w!!”)

In an adjoining hallway, Rafa asks what’s up.  Dio tells him he’s got to let DDA know that he had nothing to do with D’Andres’s being shot.  Rafa lets the hammer down.  He confronts Dio by telling him that as far as he knows, Leoncio’s has been a guest of sorts in his town-house since he got him out of jail.  So, who’s to say he didn’t order the guy to kill D’Andres for real?  Dio is adamant that he didn’t give the order to kill D’Andres, and blames Al for sticking him with Leo as a house guest.  “—Tell him that and that we’ve got to meet right away so that I can tell him what all I have to, and that will help him understand what’s been going on, besides receiving what’s due him [hacerse justicia].  Rafa snickers back.  “--Puh-leeese!  You really expect me to believe that?  You are not a man of your word [no tener palabra].  You’re watching us even after you promised to dismiss your spies!”   Dio insists it was to protect them only, not for malicious intent.  “--Because of Alonso and Isadora who are very desperate individuals and can be very dangerous indeed!  Tell him that when he sees him he’ll understand a lot of what’s going on here; and that it’s urgent we meet already!”

Dio walks back to the lounge and Rafa dials Aaron to check in.  Yeah, Dionisio bought the act and Daniel is fine, says Rafa.  D’Aaron smiles.  “--Well, some good news at least.  Once we know that Daniel’s all right, then we’ll go from there.  Just don’t get over-confident, Rafa.”  No way, says Rafa, no way!  Don’t you worry!

Once Gussie sees Dio return she goes right after him and complains about his going off “with that writer” in a huff after getting that call.  He tells her she’s imagining things and he only needed some air.  Oh, she says, then he should have asked her along!  “--Get real, Augustina.  You are some possessive broad, you know?  Just because we are married doesn’t mean we’re connected at the hip or something!”  Gussie starts pouting.

Cam walks in and meets Padre Anselmo then walks back out to see if a nurse might have word about D’Andres.

Rafa catches up with Vivi near the cantine machines.  He tells her he’s just had a chat with Dio and has thought of something that might save Dan but he doesn’t want to discuss it there where somebody might overhear them.  Good deal, says Viv, and she’s got news about Cam also.  They cross their fingers that what they’re doing will turn out good in the end.

A bit later the surgeons come out into the waiting area to tell Cam and the others that D’Andres has made it through surgery, but because there was a small scratch from the bullet on his liver, he’s going to be under special care for the next 48 hours.   Happy, happy!  Joy, Joy!  Cami gives the docs a kiss of thanks.  Dio gives a silent sigh of relief and snarls at nobody in particular—unless he’s thinking to himself with those of us in Viewerville, no thanks to you, Alonso Loser de Lascano!

Lic. Becerra and the padre convince Luzma to leave with them and go home for the night.  It’s too  dangerous with El Tío de Leo still on the loose.  They doubt, too, that she’ll have the Albarran family’s permission to speak with Pablo despite her good intentions and hopes for the best.

Nat catches up with a grumpy, despondent Yago in one of the hallways.  He tells her he’s upset because of the argument he had with Pablo and he needs to make things right, but figures it won’t do any good because his brother still hates him.  She tries cheering him up.  Osvaldo catches her in mid hand-hold and looks warily on.  She’s got to make a call to the hacienda and give her mother and the others the good news about D’Andres.  Sure thing, she says.  Luzma races in and they both jump up and down at the good news.

In the waiting area, the rest of the group agrees to head for home now that nothing more can be done for D’Andres or Pablo.  Cam refuses a lift back to the hacienda with Dio and Mama cuz…uh…er…Mariano has invited her out to eat.  Mariano doesn’t miss a beat and promises to bring her back early.  Gussie makes some snide mark before leaving about there being no reason really for him to have waited around there with them all night since it was only their driver?  (Note to self: mental slap due Gussie very soon.)

Cam’s parents finally leave.  Mariano leaves for a moment to check on his parents but says he’ll return ASAP.

Luzma luckily catches a glimpse of Pablo as he’s being wheeled to his room and chases after the gurney.  The two exchange te amo’s and she kisses him on the forehead.  “—See Padre!  Miracles do happen!”

Meanwhile, Pablo’s parents are waiting in his hospital room for him to be brought in.  Cayetano swears he’s got his men looking high and low for Leoncio and that the S.O.B. will rot in jail for the rest of his miserable life for what he did to Pablo.  Mariano comes in and tells them he’s taking Cami out to din-din.  Rocio puts up a snit and says she does think it strange the way the young woman makes such a fuss about some little employee of hers.  Mar disagrees.  Pablo is finally wheeled in then.  More happy, happy, joy, joy.

In the hospital parking garage, Rafa and Viv are walking towards her parking space.  Rafa says he thought it was strange for Cam to agree to go out to eat with Mariano after the kind of day she had there at the hospital and all.  Viv says she’s almost certain it was more of an excuse not to have to leave with Dio.   Rafa asks if her chat with Cam had something to do with her attitude then.  Viv says yes, it does.  Just then she freaks when she sees a tall dark-haired guy dressed like her ex walk past them.  She tells Rafa she almost thought it was Bruno.  He gets serious and tells her Bruno will never do another thing to her ever again.  She’s got him now.  Right?  She knows that, right?  Yes, says Vivi.  She does feel safe with him, but….  “—But what?”  “—I don’t know, but something keeps going around in my head and I just can’t put my finger on it.  I don’t know why Bruno hasn’t come back looking for me again—not that I’d want him to—but I don’t kno if it is because Cami made the connection with him to me, or because you’re living with me at the house, or because something has his tied up.”

Rafa has her try to calm down.  It’s over and she’s got to get him out of her head once and for all.  She promises.  He asks her what she and Cami discussed.  Viv says she’d rather tell him when they’re back with Aaron.  For now, she just wants to get out of there.

Meanwhile, Amanda gets word and then calls La Malquerida to give the staff there the good news.  They kid around that D’Andres wouldn’t die on them.  “--Naw, he’s stonger than an ox [mas fuerte que un roble= lit. an ox]!”  More kidding about Nat and Rodolfo, that she still doesn’t know that he exists.

As for Gussie, Dio’s had just about as much as he (or Viewerville) can take.  She makes some catty remark about Cam’s attitude towards her driver.  Dio’s so pissed off he waves a wad of bills in her face and tells her to get out and find a taxi to take her home.  He’s got somewhere else he just remembered he had to go–business-related, of course. So she can’t obviously come with.  He practically shoves her out and still hanging off the door!!  She catches herself and stands on the frighteningly dark street corner, watching, miffed and puzzled, as he zooms away.  (Yep, O.B. does that miffed and puzzled thingy very, very well.)

Back at the hospital, Cam remembers the great joy and happiness her times with D’Andres has brought her again.  Mariano reappears and they go off to eat…in the cafeteria.  Bummer for Mariano for sure!  She admits she’s not really hungry.  NO, she’s just there because she wanted a reason to stay there all night.  Mariano sucks it up and takes it in stride,  telling her what a warm person he thinks she is to be so dedicated [entregada= devoted, selfless, given over to] her employees.  (Methinks Mariano doth laud, extol, exalt, and rhapsodize too much!)  Cara de Oh-if-you-only-knew de Camila.  Cam decides it’s finally time to own up to Mar.  “—Don’t say that because you’re going to make me feel bad.  There’s another reason for me wanting to stay the night.  I’m romantically involved with Andres.  We love each other and if something should happen to him, I think I would die, Mariano…because he’s the love of my life.”  Cara de crestfallen de Mariano doesn’t quite capture it for him this time…..

Awesome episode. Clearly Bratgirl is not taking her mother's advice not to tangle with Refugio.

Oh Gussie. Get out while you're still alive.

Loved that Rafa had Aaron call Dio who looked spooked afterward.

And Hissadora. Leticia Calderon does fishwife very well. Alonso: grow some!

If I didn't know that El Diablo is a deadly killer, I would have found his reactions amusing.

There is nothing amusing about his plans. I was afraid for Rafael when he was eavesdropping in the restroom and I was gritting my teeth during their conversation.

Becerra must be worried now about what's going on with Camila and Augustina's wills. I'm thinking it won't be long before El Diablo decides to become a widower.

The avances have me worried.

The best scene for me was the one in which Camila couldn't help but kiss the surgeons after receiving the encouraging news about Andres. She was so adorable. For me it was laugh out loud funny and a bit tear jerking at the same time. She is definitely my favorite actress.

Thanks, Jardinera, for a grand start. What an episode! I whine -- if only it weren't at 10 p.m. I struggle to get through the last 15 minutes, which are always crucial!

Yes - the proverbial "plink" of the bullet hitting the surgical dish, always an important part of telenovela medicine.

Foxy -- Isn't SN great, with the adorable hugs. She's such a spontaneous and interesting actress.

Sue said it so well: get out Gussie. Doesn't look like that is going to happen for a while.

A worrisome preview for sure.

I do have one little gripe, and that is that Isadora, the smartest of our hapless villains, has never thought that rather than being a spy for Daniel, Andres could be the Daniel himself. This is class prejudice blinding her, I would think. But if anyone is going to make the connection, it will be Hissie.

OT: I recently met a woman named Isadora and it was all I could do NOT to call her Hissadora!

Great start Jardinera! Another nail biter of an episode. Good and fast thinking on the part of Rafa and Aaron.

Foxy and Traveling Lady- ITA. There are so many reasons why SN is my favorite tn actress. The way she adds spontaneity to her characters is one of them. She always seems in the moment, and not just like she's reading her lines. I know she really wants to do comedy (she was very good at it in Labios Rojos). I wonder how she would be as a villain?

Traveling Lady- I think Isa came close to going down the path of thinking Andres could be Dan, or at least doubting that Aaron is Dan, when she asked Francisco if the man in the picture was his son. Frank did a good job bluffing, but had he expressed any doubts, I think her next line of thinking would have been that Andres is really Dan. She is by far the smartest of the villains.

I don't like at all that Xi has this bit of (false) info and Andres and intends to use it as a weapon against Cam. This does not bode well.

Just watched and what an exciting show. Kick Aggie out of the car, lol. What a dumb woman if she stays with that letch.

I thought the scene with Isa and Al in the bedroom where she was yelling at him was terrific. They are so good together. He bites his nails, she slaps his hand away. Too good.

So Rafa has a new plan to run by Viv. I wish they had talked about it on this episode, now we have to wait until Monday.

I do feel sorry for Mariano. I like him a lot and if it weren't for my boyfriend being on the show, I would want Camila to end up with him. I hope he finds a good woman.

The avances showed Cam looking in Dan's room for something and discovers something else. Maybe the letter to him from Dan Sr.?

And, about Xi eavesdropping on the conversation between Al and Isa, the info she's gathering about Dan will not matter, and will even be useless, if Cam finds out that D'andres is really Dan.

I would hope that after discovering Ximeana is Alonssso's chippie Camila would not believe a word she says.

The whole "Soy mas mujer que tu" thing is disgusting and declasse. Camila seemed to take it harder than she should have, considering the source.

Thanks for the recap Jardinera! I also want to go back to one of Recapper Mena's decriptions from the other day: "Our Daffy Senora." Yes, that's what Agustina is ... daffy ... sad to say. If she doesn't wake up now, she might go deeper, hoping that Dio will love her if she "does better." This is tragic! I don't know if she was ever really loved by a man, so she may not know what it is really like. She may not know that even a "friend" wouldn't kick a lady (friend or otherwise) out of the car at night without seeing her safely home. Dio ... her *HUSBAND* ... left her out on the street ... at night! Holy moly! The interesting thing is that she'll take it, and just let it happen ... why? Partly because of a blind love (or whatever) and partly because she somehow thinks that Dio has the worth that allows him to treat her that way. YET ... Dan/Andres has been completely wonderful with regard to overseeing the well-being of Camila (and Luzma, and Agustina herself). Even so, Agustina is bent on only looking at him as a servant. She can't even see that a "servant" has continually treated her better than her own husband.

Que Lastima!

Yes, I agree that Camila was so sweet as she thanked the doctors. I'm also glad that she has such good friends in Vivi and Rafa (BTW, so happy that these two are getting closer and closer ... and closer! I want them as a couple!)

Poor Mariano ... impactado for sure!

So in the avances, did they say that Camila discovers the truth! I thought that's what I heard when they showed how rifling through the drawers.

I LOVE this TN. It's so good. It moves fast and the good people know the secret. So is Camila going to be mad at the whole town for knowing? What about los Padres (new and old)? What about Luzma? She's like family to Camila. And Vivi and Rafa? Amanda, Natalia? Osvaldo? So there were attempts on Camila's life, and they tried to kill Dan (as Dan) *and* Dan (as Andres). Then she now knows that Dio is bad news (but married her mother, and then tries to be seductive with her [EWWW!]), and her husband Al is also bad news. She may be angry, but she should at least be able to recognize that the threats have been real and that these have literally been life or death situations.

Now to Los Albarran. Yes, it is interesting that los padres de Pablo are so bent on making sure that "Tio sin nombre" pays for what he did, yet they barely seemed to be concerned about him when he assaulted the Luzma, the young woman that their son was about to marry and still deeply loves. The good news is that "Tio sin nombre" now has more enemies. But before they get rid of him, he needs to shout out in some open forum that the Komodos hired him to kill the padre.

And a note on Komodos ... so interesting that "comodo" should make us thing calming thoughts, but instead, we get the dragon lady & her step-son. That is a creepy relationship. Sometimes, she literally treats him like he was 5, other times, it looks like they are about to make out [shudder!]

The issue between Hissadora and Alonssso is that there are no boundaries between them. They are both sick people whether or not they have a sexual relationship which would be emotionally incestuous because she is the only maternal figure he has ever known.

BTW, does he know she is actually his madrastra rather than his madre?

Urban- It doesn't seem that Al knows Isa isn't really his mother. She's the only mother he's ever known and there doesn't seem to be any reason why she would have told him the truth. I don't think she has ever abused him sexually, but I do think she gets perverse pleasure in messing with his head, including blurring the boundaries with him—sometimes being a cross between strict/abusive authority figure, and other times affectionate/slightly sexual mommy. It's no wonder that the man is a walking ball of nerves and neurosis, especially with regard to women and sexuality.

There has been no evidence that Al and Isa are having a sexual relationship. It isn't surprising that they have a disfunctional relationship based on what we know of their beginnings. She hates that he was foisted onto her without her consent, she seemed to be very young, and she's angry at Al's father for having been forced to marry him and forced to care for his illegitimate son. For someone who isn't very self aware and has an evil bent, that translates into an unhealthy parent. And who knows, her own parents probably were terrible role models, seeing as they forced her to marry someone the age of her grandfather. That's a lot of hate building going on.

Cathyx- Yep. ITA. I think that sums up the roots of Al and Isa's relationship quite well. I think she really hates him, for all he represents (forced marriage, forced motherhood).

Jardinera thanks for part one. Can't wait to read the rest.

Sue455 - Bratgirl has dug herself so deep at this point she just needs to go to another ranch and start all over. Even if she tries the get Pablo drunk (and in his current state that can't happen), I think Yago would step forward and call her on it.

UA - Seeing Dio squirm was fun though it may have been temporary. But his ego and crazy desire for Cam will truly be his undoing.

Foxy - ITA that SN is wonderful. I think I enjoy her character the best here of what I've seen her in.

Traveling Lady - Gussy's class bias is definitely blinding her. As netgirl so eloquently noted, none of the servants but especially Dan would have put her out on the street at night.

Vivi - The plan by Rafa and Aaron was quite good. I was so pleased they put the horns to Dio.

Netgirl - in addition to the all the things you noted about Gussy, Dio latest stunt should make her open her eyes. Since their marriage, he has become progressively abusive and yet she tried to harass Cam about her relationship w/Dan.

Thank goodness Cam and Xi are grown b/c Gussy shows all the signs of a woman who would allow her boyfriend/husband to molest her children. And she wouldn't believe them when they told her.

Cathyx - I too hope Mariano meets Teresa soon. Even if Cam is furious when she learns the truth, I hope she knows herself well enough to know she should NOT start anything w/Mariano.

Thanks Vivi, and I agree with what you said that it's making Al a walking ball of nerves. There is no way a person can come from parenting like that and be normal. Al is actually more functional than could be expected when raised by a parent as evil as Isa is. At least he does seem to have some conscience about the bad things she is doing and that's why he's a walking ball of nerves, as you put it. If he were pure evil, none of this would bother him and he would have nice fingernails.

Thanks for giving us the first half Jardinera. I'm looking forward to the second half.

So after kicking Gussie out of the car, what do you all think Dion was going to do?

Karen--Regrettably, TN laws require that the lead protagonista lovers be pulled apart for a minimum of episodes before they are allowed to reunite. Now that Mariano knows how she feels about Andres, I don't think he's the type of guy to move in on her right away, even if it looks as though she is vulnerable. He's too much of a gentleman for that. OTOH, he will be there to support her and let her cry on his shoulder for a time. If the Dan/Cam relationship is a complete bust, he will be there to pick up the pieces. Of course, Dona Rocio will have a toro if her Mariano starts up something with Cam.

Poor Gussie, left in the street late at night and told to take a taxi home...enough said...at least he gave her taxi money. I must admit I'm admiring Olivia Bucio as an actress more and more. Her different faces of being forlorn, angry, self-righteous, confused, questioning, harried, and anxious are conveyed very realistically.

But Silvia is still the best.

cathyx--Dio is probably heading home to retrench and reassess. Things are slipping out of control with the Cerdo the Loose Cannon. I think he believes it and was telling Rafa the truth: that Isa and Al are dangerous (although we know he didn't call off his spy-dog for that reason).

Too bad for Cam that Xi was listening outside the door. Mom & son were talking very loudly and I'm surprised Hissidora missed that. She'd be the first one to listen at a door and the first one to close her own doors. I guess Al forgot to close it when he entered and she didn't notice. That's one tn law that hasn't been broken.

cathyx--Good one:
>If he were pure evil, none of this would bother him and he would have nice fingernails.<

Hi all! While we are waiting for Jardinera's pot to boil over, I thought our Cristián de la Fuente fans would enjoy this snippet from an old Ugly Betty episode:

Ugly Betty: The Fashion Photographer from Brazil

Jardinera - Great part 1. "good-for-nothing-no-longer-Alone-so" - tee-hee-hee.

Enjoying all the comments and insight on Hissadora, Alonso, and Gussie. I don't want to see harm come to Gussie, but I couldn't help but laugh when Dio kicked her out of the car in the middle of the night. I'm wondering what's it going to take for her to blow a fuse and finally admit she made a big mistake.

Okay, if Vivi gets Rafa, I get Aaron. Loved Aaron on the phone socking it to Dio.

I doubt Camila will listen to Ximena's so-called evidence on Andres after she finds out who he really is.

Loved the scene where Refugio angrily told off Ileana. LOL! The bitch had it coming for so long.

Dionisio is so mean. How dare he kick Agustina out of the car, just cuz she was talking about Andres/Daniel being Camila's lover.

I also loved where Dionisio was spooked after Aaron's call, where he was pretending to be Daniel Diaz Acosta. Also loved where Rafael told him off for his lies. It also looks like Camila can no longer trust him after reading her late uncle's letter regarding information on Dionisio and Alonso's evil intentions.

The scene with Luzma kissing Pablo on the stretcher was beautiful! Tolentino started getting on my nerves again after speaking how their love was impossible. He needs to be quiet.

Anon 4:03- Yes. I had another "SHUT UP Tolentino!" moment last night. He's a nice kid, but when he gets talking about Pablo and Luzma I can't stand him. Give it up already. I love that Luzma got a chance to see Pablo and kiss him.

Audrey- "When I die I want to be cremated and sprinkled all over his body." LOL! Thanks for the laugh. I remember that scene. I liked Ugly Betty a lot-- I know a lot here criticized it for being so different than the Latin American originals.

NOTE regarding weekend discussions:

Due to the low number of comments historically made to general weekend topics as a novela winds down, there will be no weekend discussion immediately following the finale of Refugio. Next weekend, prior to the very final episodes, we will have one on the subject of the Karmageddons of the villains of that series.

I don't know whether this will be the norm from now on, but Refugio is popular enough to justify it. Please think about what you would like to see happen to the characters of that series and we will discuss it next weekend.

This episode, this recap, these comments. Ah, good times!

"dis-'n-cuss" LOL!

cathyx totally said what I was going to say and LOL about with Poor Gussie getting booted out of the car and Issssa swatting Al's hands away from his mouth.

Sue 455 - What is "fishwife". I don't even know the meaning, but still laughed at the comment.

Audrey - LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ugly Betty clip! I loved that show!

My favorite Dio moment was near the end. Camila had thanked the surgeons for saving D'Andres and THEN said she couldn't go home because she and Mariano were going out to eat. Dio has this look of major annoyance that she could dare to think of other men in His Presense. His comeuppance is going to be good.

As is Ximenas's, thinking she has this info to hurt Camila. How pissed is she going to be when she finds out the truth about the chofer? She'll probably end up chewing on her fingernails too.

It's a shame both she and Alonso are such nutcases because they're a cute couple, despite a questionable ("Te Odio") love song. In the Hissadora-Ximena battle, I'm on team Ximena. Sure, Alonso doesn't like to go against mommy dearest, but with Ximena he gets sex. Sex > parental approval.

kelly

A fishwife (a woman who sells fish) has evolved to mean a woman who is loud, rude, coarse, and aggressive, and usually foul mouthed as well.

Oh shoot , am I a fishwife then? I prefer the term Spunky.

I'm not sure if "Hornets Eyes" qualifies as foul mouthed.

What? Am I the only one home on this Saturday night?

Kelly, that was a great scene with Dio when Camila had the nerve to want to dine with Mariano. "His Presence" lol. Dio acted like she was his 12 year old daughter, only it isn't Daddy affection he feels for her. Or with this tn, maybe it is.

No Rosemary, I'm here too. Dion does throw the temper tantrums when he' mad, doesn't he. Any bets on how many more times he mistreats her before she finally takes a stand?

Wow, I really should preview my comments before I submit them.

R la O - I have never known you to be coarse! ;)

My theory on where Dionisio needs to go? He needs to deal with Leoncerdo the time bomb.

He would have driven Gussie home first, but he just couldn't handle her running at the mouth.....

Wake up call to Gussie! [But I don't think it will register. And who can she get all huffy over it with anyway? Too many "told you sos" are waiting in the wings.]

LOL about proof reading.

Sadly, I think Lavender Lil will put up with it for way longer that she should. She'd prefer to be treated like that than admit another failure in the love department.

I hope he doesn't start getting physically abusive.

Although, it was funny when she was going on about Camila caring for D'Andres and he JUST COULDN'T TAKE IT anymore and dumped her out. No, she doesn't deserve that treatment, but she IS irritating. (Irritating as an adjective, not as a noun with ringlets.)

Yes, Audrey, thanks for the Ugly Betty clip. If that was from Season 1 then I have it on DVD. I loved that show but it jumped the shark way too early and never really recovered. Season 1 was the best one, IMO, so I don't have any of the others.

Rosemary, you can be spunky without being vulgar. I think Hissadora thinks she has class but she really doesn't. And it was a total brain fart on her part to scream loud enough so Ximena could hear.

I did watch that Ugly Betty clip and I did not like it at all. First, I like my boyfriend to have short hair, and second, I like my boyfriend to act like a male. Was he portraying a gay man? And did he look shorter than he is or is he actually short?

Thanks, Audrey. I try not to be coarse. Loud, rude, aggressive and foul mouthed is enough.

Dio does need to deal with Leo. Let's think of who all knows Leo is hiding at Dio's. Does anyone who wants him to be caught, but is not in a coma, know?

He probably looked shorter being around models.

Did you like his short hair at the Latin Grammies? I didn't like the backlight coming through.

Rosemary, not sure if anyone not in a coma knows. But many people know that he is working for Dion now. Isa, Al, Aaron, Viv, Rafa.

I only watched a clip from the grammys so I didn't notice the backlighting. But I am a sucker for short hair on a man, just not bald, shaved, or a crew cut.

Don't forget that Cami knows, too.

That is, working for Dio; not that Cam knows where he is. I would imagine that knowing Dan's big mouth, he's already told Padre A., Teresa, Os and Amanda, although we didn't actually see him telling them.

I still like the shoulder length '70 hairstyles. You know, like Pablo's.

Lots of people know Leo's working for Dio so hopefully they'll keep an eye on his place. We need Leo locked up so Sweet Luzma doesn't feel the need to run to Talentino (what's that other kid's name?) to keep Pablo and his hair and vests safe.

Camila knows that Leo is hiding at Dion's? I don't think so. I don't think she even knows yet that he's working for him.

Anita - LOL "Dan's big mouth"

Talentino? Now that's funny. I keep laughing and my daughter wants to know what's so funny. But I can't remember what his name is either.

I'm not that into Pablo's vests either. He's cute, but cut his hair, give him a t-shirt and jeans. Then we'll talk.

Cam doesn't know where Leo is. My mistake, she doesn't know Leo's working for Dio, either.

I skipped the initial query and thought we were talking about who knew Dan was working for Dio. So delete my comment from your mind.

Ok, I looked it up because it was bugging me, his name is Tolentino.

If he was Quentin's son, he'd be Tolentino Tarantino.

I liked Talentino LOL!

I think C de la F just looked short because he was standing between models wearing super high heels and I enjoyed hearing him speak English. I only vaguely remember that episode. I don't think he was supposed to be gay, I think he was playing the stereo-typed partying South American latin lover dude.

I really love this tn, so exciting and fast moving. But we're barely half way thru. I wonder how much more evil ways will be done by Hissadora, aloneso and the devil himself! I love its Greek flavor-tragedy i.e. the oedipal relationship between the vipers. And such good acting. Bravo!
I didn't realize that Christian was at the 2008 DWTS and that he speaks good English. Did he grow up in the US?

CdeF came to LA to study and break into acting here (where the money is) as a very young man and has done guest spots on lots of popular US series. I recommend that 7-part interview he had on Chilean tv. It's on YouTube. I had trouble pasting a correct link so I won't do it again. I think he still lives in the LA area.

I'll be there over Thanksgiving weekend. I'll let you know if I see him! And if I do, let's hope its on a beach.

Ok! Part II is finally up despite not having my system online for a good while. Enjoy!

Jardinera thanks for the recap. You hit all the highs and lows of the episode and there was a lot to cover.

Anita - I know TN law requires a separation between the most couples though thank goodness not all TNs follow this. What I don't want to see is the other TN staple that often goes hand-in-hand with the break-up - the going out w/another guy/gal just because. The broken-hearted person becomes novios with someone else, usually the hated rival of his/her true love. Since Mariano isn't a hated rival of Dan and this TN doesn't go for the typical TN stuff, I'm hoping she and Mariano will become better friends. Like Cathyx, I don't want to see Mariano hurt but we all know Dan is the man and must get Cam.

Fabulous recap Jardinera!

In the conversation with Vivi and Cami, Cami has not actually told Vivi the details of his life that Andres shared with her. So Cami was thrown off by that, and said out loud that she didn't remember telling Vivi that. Since D'Andres hasn't had time to tell Vivi that he gave Becerra the letter to give to Cami (pointing the finger at Dio and Al), and that he's told Cami about the threats Dio to him if he is involved with her, Vivi was surprised by just how much Cami knows now. Until recently, she was almost completely in the dark. After her goof about Andres' past, I think she was being extra cautious in the rest of that conversation to Cami to pretend that all of this was new information for her.

Mmmmm... those cajun seasoned Cornish Hens you are smelling are coming from my kitchen.

For dessert, I am going to read the rest of this recap.

An those hamburgers you are smelling are coming from my kitchen.

LOL! The crappy hotdog smell was coming out of mine!

ViviDC: Thanks for the clarification. These stories start to run on for so long I begin to forget all the details. Blame it on old age--mine.....

Jardinera, I think we need to go to Rosemary's house for dinner.

Thanks Jardinera for a great (as usual) recap. The comments are as usual, icing on the cake.

I know that Mariano has a lot of fans in viewerville hoping that the writers don't "use" him to console Cami in her time of need, only to be dropped and heartbroken later. For that reason, I'm glad that Cami made it loud and clear with Mariano where her heart lies. Since he's a good person I'm hoping that he can console as a good friend without getting emotionally involved. That said, It'll be interesting to see if he's going to continue working for free from now on.

CathyX: LOL! ITA!

Thanks for the great recap Jardinera. I have been looking forward to it.

In regards to Xi's misguided gloating about her sis' love affair: loved the phrase "Cami’s apple-of-her-eye cart"! Very clever.

Favorite weekend "Cara de..." was "Cara de Ruh-Roh! de Big-Mouth Vivi." LOL!

I laughed through the whole paragraph about Tolentino. I was so irritated with him while I watched the show but now you've made it all OK.

ITA with those who thought the scene where Luzma sees Pablo was touching and sweet. I almost cheered that she was able to be with him even for a moment.

I think think what Camila finds in the advances are the DNA results. Becerra has the letter from Uncle Dan to D'Andres.

Fabulous recap Jardinera. There were several great zingers, and I think my fave was "dis-'n-cuss" - perfect description of what Hissadora does. I'd never run across that variant of "discuss", and it's just brilliant!

Well, sorry, we already polished off the pear almondine tart today.

Hey, good theory about Cami finding the DNA test results. Bad move, Dan, to do that AFTERwards.

Maybe the results aren't dated.

Agree that he should have let her know BEFOREwards!

Awesome recap, Jardinera. It was so thorough and absolutely hilarious!

Marta in NY: Welcome! What part of NY are you from?
=====
Vida2: If I didn't welcome you before now, my error--Welcome to the weekend novelafest!

Ladies/Gents: thanks again for taking the time to stop in and read/comment.

Thank you, Jardinera! I'm live in downtown Manhattan. I'm originally from the Bronx.

Meant to add....where are you from, Jardinera?

Jar--Finally got to read your part II, and re-read part I, since one can't get enough of a good thing. Love the anticipation, but glad you sent us a crumb to munch on. Many thanks.

Loved the "Cara-de-Oh-Shhhhh...de Dio"

And a NEW 21st C. classic: "Dio stops as his mental GPS does a bit of “Detour. Recalculating. Detour. Recalculating.”

And "I’d say Mama was on to something and add jack-asses with jack-asses about now. “He-e-e-haw-w-w-w-w!"

Ta-da! Off to get my bird (animal branch decided, subspecies selection will depend on mood--Cornish Game Hens, capon, or a roasting hen, maybe even a duck or a goose, but probably not).

I'm coming late to the party, I know. Everything's been discussed, but here's a few thoughts:

Tolentino needs to shut up!!!

Glad Luzma had a chance to tell Pablo that she loves him.

Glad Mariano heard about Cam and Dan before he declared himself. At least he was spared that humiliation.

I think Agustina will be quicker at knowing Dio was a mistake than admitting Dio was a mistake. I hope she does admit it before she realizes Dio wants Cam. I can see her taking out her anger and frustration on Cam--blaming her.

Nanette

Jardinera - This recap was particularly entertaining. Among the gems:

Dio stops as his mental GPS does a bit of “Detour. Recalculating. Detour. Recalculating.”

Yes indeedy, Speedy! I love ya dearly, Vivi, but don’t tell me this comes as some sort of a shocker.

I’m not quite sure which animal branch he fits into, but I’d say Mama was on to something and add jack-asses with jack-asses about now.

Question for Caray Crowd ... The reason that Isa wants Dan Jr to give power of attorney to Dan Sr is because Isa has been planning to kill DanJr and have daddy inherit, correct? So why are Isa and Al wondering why DanJr gave DanSr the power of attorney? I missed that....

OT: RlaO Tolentino Tarentino..... good one.

I continue to find AlLocoLonso amusing in his role. His character is a wanna-be-tough-guy. IMO, he is an intensely insecure vato (that word makes me laugh) with ambition and nowhere to go but through Mumsy's plans. Same with Ximena... her character is a self-centered, entitled, and very lazy. Neither one of these characters is spooky crazy dangerous.

The Isa character, however, there is the spooky crazy one! Geez, I am back to calling her the bad seed all grown up - look for the tap shoe in her box of childhood memories.

Back again....my vote for Pablo's wardrobe is thumbs up... I really like his look with the vests. On the other hand, Mariano's wardrobe needs something else ... His age and haircut keep reminding me of Stephen Stills back in the 70's....

Mena: It's the whole unshaven look that I don't like. There's a least one male character on DAYS that sports the same look. Horrible. Add messy hair to that and double ugh.

MartaNY: Manhattan! I think we have some others on the blog from there as well. Was wondering how well you survived "the perfect storm". Most all our NY bloggers did. --I'm a Florida transplant from MO. Now living on the SW coast about as far down as you can get without leaving "civilization". Je-je.
===========
Anita, you must have a talent for cheffing. Capon is a few I.Q. points above my pay grade to mix metaphors. I cook only when I have to and leave the fancy stuff to my hubby and son. Admire the talent, but don't want to emulate.....

I think that Hissadora wants Francisco to claim the estate which she would get him to sell. She likely plans on getting most of the dinero -- or all of it if she also gets rid of Francisco.

Mena, I agree that she is a bad seed. However I don't think she is likely to resort to murder unless she is absolutely sure she can get away with it. If she had not knocked over the pill bottle when smothering Padre Baldomero she might never have been a suspect. As it is Amanda and Daniel suspect her because of the pills she didn't have time to retrieve.

UA - Yahh, that is what makes her particularly evil - she is calculating as the Bad Seed was as well. She isn't a hothead that would commit a crime of passion. Ximena and AlLocoLonso are impulsive, not particularly calculating.
