Amor Bravío #58 (Uni 53) Mon 11/5/12

Capitulo 58:  Those Who Observe

Lo del Pasado

Camila tells Andres she loves the ranch, but it isn't hers.  That she has him is enough.  Alonssso reminds Leoncerdo (who must have been thrown in the shower, hosed down, and forcibly dressed in clean clothes by Omar for the occasion; Omar should demand combat pay for that) that he wouldn't be in El Diablo's house if not for him. He tells him to make Andres regret he was ever born. This is something Leoncerdo will be too happy to do. Alonssso tells him that he had better not screw up this time and he is to tell no one of these orders. He promises not to.

Lo de Nuevo

Cabaña:   Andres asks Camila what would happen if Daniel isn't the person she hoped for, if he's done thing he isn't proud of. She doesn't understand the question, saying she wants to believe that Daniel is the good person Rafael says he is. They embrace, Andres with a pensive expression.
Market:  Piedad does her shopping with Rudolfo in attendance to carry her purchases (and probably to make sure she isn't being cheated out of any cash she hands over). She encounters Refugio, who says how nice it is to see her (after all these years) and enquires after Luzma. Piedad answers that she is well, all things considered, commenting that Refugio probably knows what happened to her and Pablo. Refugio replies that she knows and comments on how bad Pablo feels about all this. She is briefly interrupted by the merchant who asks if she wants more oranges and she tells him she needs only the usual amount. Rudolfo is curious because he knows there are house guests, but she mentions that half the family is in Zacatecas at the moment.  Rudolfo looks suspicious.

Hostal de Amanda:   Natalia comes home and fixes her lipstick, flashing back to her date with Iago.  Poor chica looks too smitten as she writes their initials in lipstick on the mirror, to the tune of an upbeat song.

Viviana's Apartment:  Sitting at the kitchen table, Vivi looks at Rafael's computer and sees he is writing a novel about the current happenings. She was sure he was writing an article about bullfighting instead. However he was so intrigued by everything that's been happening it has moved him to write a novel for the first time in his life. She thinks this is a great idea idea except it can't use her photos! They talk about related stuff, then she teases him that she's starving. He starts to make a tostale de pollo for her and it looks as though these two will finally realize they belong together.

Cabaña, Study:    Camila talks with the investigator about the missing antique pistol. He asks whether there was any chance that her uncle had given it to Leoncerdo and she does not think so. If he would have armed him for security reasons it wouldn't have been with anything that valuable. She suggests questioning the cerdo himself, but upon the inspector's enquiry informs him she has no idea where he is. He was dismissed from the ranch several days previously and turned over to the authorities for raping his own niece and – guess what? – was released for lack of evidence. He will not be accepted back. The investigator holds back some reaction beyond the understanding of Camila's frustration in this and she authorizes him to ransack Leoncerdo's former quarters.   He thanks her and exits to do this.

La Buenaventura, Patio: Iago is working on his laptop when Bratgirl enters wearing something that looks far too much like a baby doll nightdress. Refugio arrives with a tray containing his double espresso and he thanks her with a kiss on the cheek.  As she departs Bratgirl shows herself to be a Gala In Training (“Git” is an insult in the land of my paternal ancestors) by sarcastically enquiring as to his date with the secretary, which he had to do secretly so as not to humiliate himself. He has no patience for this, closing the computer and to the sound of violins in a minor key tells her she can try to conquer Pablo but he doubts she will and... to mind her own business and not to mess with him. A comment about Luzma as well (possibly that what she did to her was bad enough). He takes the computer and exits, leaving her with her usual pout. Most viewers at this point would probably love to slap her flat.

La Malquerida, Kitchen:  Luzma is cooking as Piedad returns from the market. She tells her that she saw Refugio and she told her that Pablo, Mariano, and Doña Rocio went to Zacatecas. Luzma tells her that it is as well because she told Pablo to go away. Piedad still thinks this best for both of them. Of course, we don't.

Cabaña:    Camila works at her laptop when Vivi arrives. She tells her that Alonssso tried to rape her.  Viviana is impactada.

Temporary Komodo Lair:   Alonssso answers the phone to discover a seriously peeved Ximeana, who is angry he has ignored her calls. He tells her he's not in the mood for her little whims. She demands to know whether Camila's rape accusation is true. “Camila told me everything. Why did you do this? Do you still love her? Answer me!” He clearly doesn't want to and begins to get nervous. It looks as though he'd rather not talk to her at the moment. But Ximeana tells him that he'll feel even sicker to hear that – surprise! – El Diablo and Augustina returned from Vegas casados, hiding that from everyone. She's sure his mama was their accomplice because que casualidad she was supposed to accompany Augustina and in the end didn't show up. He bites his claw briefly [¡Salud!] saying he needs to investigate, then ends the call and rushes into the next room yelling for Hissadora, who is calmly unpacking her suitcase. She wears her best snakeskin dress and silver stiletto-heeled ankle boots, like the Dragon Queen she is.

Alonso:    Mama, did you know Dionisio married Augustina in Las Vegas? Answer me, Mama!
Isadora:    No, I didn't know, but I intuited it.
Alonso:    Why didn't you go? That imbecile Dionisio is living at the ranch while we're in this stupid cottage (pounds the dresser top) without knowing what the devil he was up to.
Isadora (holding up her hand):    Wait, wait. Take that tone down three noches. Calm down. (leads him to the chair and sits him down)
Alonso:    What do you want to say; we're supposed to be happy about this?
Isadora:    If you calm down and we'll talk, you'll see that all is not lost. (Alonso starts biting his claws. [¡Salud!]) Despite his actions Dionisio and I have had a disagreement between us. I'm taking precautions. Dionisio is playing his cards badly but we have an a knife up our sleeve.
Alonso:    We do? What?
Isadora:    I found the father of Daniel Diaz Acosta. And I made a deal with him before Dionisio or his shadow can find him.

Cabaña:  Viviana and Camila talk about the attempted rape by Alonssso and how Andres defended her. Camila realizes that Andres' reaction could be interpreted as meaning that he is the lover Alonssso suspects her of having. When Viviana asks whether Camila doesn't think that this relationship creates more problems than it solves she replies that it doesn't. It pleases her so much she needs it. We hear the instrumentals of “Cuando manda el corazón” so we know she really means this.

Hostal de Amanda:  Padre Anselmo tells Amanda he has found a lawyer for Daniel who will help him. She is pleased, especially as the lawyer is willing to see him tomorrow. Just as they finish talking about this Daniel's real sperm donor arrives. The good padre takes his leave and Diaz requests accommodations. He isn't sure how long he will be around, but guesses it will be at least a week. Amanda requests identification, explains that the price includes breakfast, and gives him something to fill out. He asks for a pen and she asks whether he has been there before. He first looks up suspiciously, then turns away from her look, claiming to be there for the first time and not looking her in the eye. She says that somehow he looks familiar.

Temporary Komodo Lair:   Hissadora admits El Diablo, who is not at all amused at the happenings during his brief absence.

Dionisio:    Where is your son? (striding in past her)
Alonso (looking up from the newspaper, as though this were a normal situation): Congratulations on your marriage.
Dionisio:    I will not allow this stupidity, Alonso. I came to see you to tell you I won't permit you to come near Camila.  I heard what you did and intended to do.
Alonso: Surely someone told you what happened. But not why he defended her as he did.
Dionisio:    Andres had instructions to defend Camila as necessary and from whoever necessary. Especially from you.
Alonso (slight nervous laugh):      Really, you defending Camila when she never trusted you.
Dionisio:    I'm not going to argue about this with you. The only instruction I'm giving you is that from this day on you are to stay away from La Malquerida. (Hitchcock music begins)
Alonso (standing):     Nobody tells me what I can or cannot do.
Dionisio (closing in on him):   I am fed up with you and your stupidities, Alonso. When you try my patience you know perfectly what I'm capable of.
Alonso:    You doing to order me killed, like you do the rest of the world? Be careful because I have my ideas about this.
Isadora (pushing Dionisio back):    Enough! It's not possible that the two of you of you should fight over a woman who doesn't want either of you because she has chosen her man.
Dionisio:    What are you talking about, Isadora?
Isadora:   That Camila's lover is – Didn't you know? Camila converted Andres – your right-hand man – into her lover.

A subtle but dark expression comes over El Diablo's face with the musical flourish.

Ranchera music with running bulls on the ranch. [¡Salud!]

Cabaña:  Camila is on the phone with her divorce lawyer, who tells her he will send an assistant to collect the papers from her so they can be promptly filed. She slips the signed documents into the large brown envelope as she asks that this be done as quickly as possible. He promises it will be done as soon as the documents are in hand. We sense the presence of a very ugly anvil.

Temporary Komodo Lair:   El Diablo isn't buying this.

Dionisio:    No. This is a vile lie. Camila never would take up with a man like Andres. [fijar]
Alonso (he's enjoying Dionisio's pique):   If you think she would take up with you, I don't think so. He's a chauffeur, but he's much younger than you –
Isadora (stopping Dionisio from grabbing Alonso's throat):    Enough! Don't you dare touch my son! Don't you dare! It's not Alonso's fault nor mine that Camila prefers some other man to you. I've told you before you took the wrong strategy pursuing Augustina. (String section goes into suspense leitmotif)
Dionisio:  What is your problem with her? Are you jealous that I married Augustina and not you?
Isadora (superior expression):    Oh, please, don't make me laugh! In truth, your ego is too big.
Alonso:    So, Dionisio, we've both lost Camila.
Dionisio:    No. I never lose, which I will demonstrate for the two of you. (gestures with his raised left index finger, which Isadora pushes aside. He frees that hand, touches her chin briefly and with a superior manner before exiting without saying any more.)
Alonso:    Why did he say that?
Isadora:    I don't know. When Dionisio gets annoyed he says stupid things.
Alonso:    No, no, no, no, no. He's a schemer. If anyone means what he says, it's Dionisio. Tell me the truth. Tell me the truth. Is there something between you two?
Isadora:    Of course not; please! He wanted to but no, please! His ego is so big he thinks all women want him. The only thing I am interested with regard to him is money.
Alonso:    Why are you lying, Mother? Tell me the truth.
Isadora:    I'm not lying, my love. Please. I could never be jealous of Augustina. (starts fixing his tie. Where is Dr Freud when we need him?) Dionisio's love life doesn't interest me. At least only what affects my interests, but no, my love, it's nothing. (adjusts his lapels) So be calm.

Alonssso isn't buying this.

Street:   El Diablo calls Andres on his cell saying he wants to see him at the hacienda immediately. He gets into the car and Omar drives off.

Hostal de Amanda:   Amanda looks at the document and hears a voice from the past in her head saying “My husband's name is Francisco Xavier Diaz Velasco.” and realizes that this is Agatha's husband. She picks up the phone to call Andres. This author wonders how many viewers are confounded by the antique nature of her desk phone. However, she gets the recorded message that the number she is trying to reach is either out turned off or out of the service area. She hangs up.

Cabaña, Bedroom:  Luzma comes over to check up on Camila before going to the church to see Padre Anselmo. She doesn't want her to be alone. Camila tells her not to worry; she has told the men to keep him out and that she should do what is right for her peace of mind. She should go see Padre Anselmo and look for her when she returns. Camila tells her she can count on her for anything. She encourages her to talk to her mother, too.

Ximeana's Bedroom:   Ximeana is lying across the bed surfing on her computer as Augustina enters with a suitcase. Augustina is aware that Ximeana isn't happy with the situation, but tells her she brought back almost everything she wanted. That gets Bratgirl Sr off the bed faster than mole falls on chicken and she quickly puts the suitcase on the bed to open it. It almost explodes with its contents of expensive handbags, a fur-trimmed jacket, and other stuff. As she inspects them Augustina sheepishly explains that El Diablo paid for it all. As Ximeana puts on the jacket Augustina goes on about how they'll see that her husband is a good man who will be a good father to the two of them. [The flies on the wall are cringing.] Ximeana at least doesn't try to answer for Camila, but tells her mum that if El Diablo is going to treat her this way she will happily accept him as a step-father. This pleases Augustina and we cringe again.

Cabaña, Bedroom:  Camila instructs someone to send Andres to her cabana as soon as he returns. No sooner does she end the call that Andres enters calling her name. She tells him she is in the bedroom and he enters; he gets sheepish when he sees Luzma then switches to addressing Camila as Señora. He requests permission to go into town and she asks him to take Luzma into town with him and drop her off at the church and bring her back afterward; she doesn't want her to be alone. He agrees and asks Luzma to get his cell phone from his room. She exits. Camila throws a pillow at Andres and they both realize this was a major close call. He kisses her and tells her he has to go to see El Diablo. She's a little annoyed with this, and he tells her she's adorable when she's annoyed. They kiss, she playfully biting him lightly.

Osvaldo Becerra's Office:   His investigator is on the other side of the desk, telling him that El Diablo paid for Leoncerdo's lawyer. This confirms his suspicious and he thanks the man for his effort, saying that he will take the next step. After he leaves, Becerra calls Camila to tell her that the wills are ready for signature; she can come in when she wants and Augustina as soon as she returns from her trip. She tells him that her mother is already back... married to El Diablo. He is incredulous and she tells him that it was like a shock of cold water for her, too. He asks her to come in alone so he can talk to her about El Diablo. It's something he can't tell her on the phone. She agrees and after hanging up he asks himself how he can tell her the truth without betraying Amanda's confidence.  There is an anvil lurking.

La Buenaventura, Office:    Natalia works at the computer as Iago enters, asking if Mariano has called. She tells him no, then hands him the foreman's report. Unfortunately for the two of them Bratgirl entered behind Iago and she hangs back as he exits with the report. She starts poisoning the waters about Iago, then tells her that when Mariano calls she is to tell him that his father wants to speak to him immediately.

El Diablo's Lair:    Leoncerdo tries to kiss his hand in gratitude but he pulls it away in disgust. He reminds him that he got him freed for a reason. He asks if someone can go to the ranch to get his things because he can't.  El Diablo seems to give a conditional "si".  El Cerdo is never to let anyone know that he works for him. When Leoncerdo asks him about “el gringo” he tells him that's his business. He tells him that “I give orders and all you will do is obey them. You are not to question anything. Do you understand?” El Cerdo answers meekly that he does but it doesn't look as though El Diablo entirely believes him.

Viviana's Apartment:   Minor key music in the string section.   Rafael senses that Viviana is hiding something and she reluctantly tells him that Alonssso tried to rape Camila. He starts to freak out as she finishes by saying that it was a failure because Daniel stopped him and beat him. Rafael freaks; we're not sure about what and they are interrupted by the doorbell. They're not expecting anyone but lo and behold it is Daniel's sperm donor. When he confirms he is speaking to Rafael, he introduces himself.  Rafael looks suspicious.

Road into Town:   Luzma is a very astute observer; she asks Andres whether he's in love with Camila. He tells her he defended Camila from Alonssso as he defended her from El Cerdo;  as he would any woman being threatened but she reminds him he can trust her. He fesses up that he loves Camila without admitting that they are already lovers. He then cautions her to wait for him and not to try to go home alone.  She has almost reached her decision as to what she will do.

Viviana's Apartment:   The sperm donor feeds a pile of bullshit about how he enquired in Chile after his son and someone gave him Rafael's name; that when a parent wants to find a child nothing stands in his way. Rafael smells something foul and asks “What friend gave you my name?” and he starts saying he doesn't remember, saying he's not been in good health. Viviana asks what made him look for him after all these years and he says “I don't want to die without seeing him” and going on about repenting for youthful sins. He doesn't see Rafael's face, but we do and we know that Rafael doesn't believe a word of this. Viviana asks how they can be sure he is who he says he is and he says “I brought this” showing a 5x7 envelope. He takes out a photo of himself and the pregnant Agatha. He asks in a pleading voice whether they know where he is. He's at the hostal and only wants to see him to embrace him and apologise for being a bad father. Rafael and Viviana exchange looks that have us flies on the wall concerned that they may have fallen for this.

Hospital:   Ana and Mariano play Chinese checkers. She is a happy child. He gets up and Pablo takes his place while Mariano sits next to his mother, Mama Snob. She tells him that with Ana coming back to the ranch he is to dedicate himself to her before to himself. He asks her to be direct and she brings up the subject of Camila. Another mother who can't deal with a son taking up with a divorced woman. [By the gods, Rocio; Mariano is a mature man or haven't you noticed he might prefer a woman with a little life experience? We think not.] Mariano reminds her that he is a widower and has the right to find romance again, stating that Ana would be fortunate to be in the company of a woman like Camila. Ana's ears are wide open and she asks “Who is Camila, Papa?”

La Malquerida, Outside:   We see unos toros [¡Salud!] and Camila discussing them with Rudolfo. These excellent specimens are four years old [which means they will likely be the next to enter the corridas] and Camila comments that she was just thinking about her uncle and how proud he was of all this. Natalia arrives, delivering a gift to her from Mariano. She explains that Mariano, Pablo, and their mother are in Zacatecas although she doesn't know the reason they are there. She almost ignores Rudolfo until Camila takes her leave and exits. Rudolfo runs after Natalia and we hear banda music again. He wants to talk to her. From his expression this looks somewhat ominous.

Hospital:   As Ana loses to Pablo at Chinese checkers Mariano explains that Camila is a veterinarian at the neighboring ranch, and that she is beautiful and a good person. Ana talks about becoming a veterinarian herself so she can take care of their animals on their ranch. Both her dad and her uncle like her attitude and while her abuela is smiling we're wondering what's going through her thick skull as Mariano takes the opponent's chair for the next game.

La Malquerida, Outside:  Rudolfo asks Natalia why she lied about where she was the other day. He knows that Mariano is out of town. Her hesitation virtually tells him that she isn't that into him and she tells him she doesn't really want a novio at the moment. He is clearly disappointed but we flies know that there are no lack of girls who wouldn't happily chase him to bed.

El Diablo's Lair:   He enters his study and asks Bruno whether there is any news. He reports that Daniel has communicated that he can't see Camila yet but he will shortly contact her. Omar enters and El Diablo takes the photo of Aaron out of his desk to show it to Bruno and Omar. Bruno says “I know this guy. He was in town, staying with my ex-wife.”

Avances

El Diablo holds Andres/Daniel at gunpoint.

Thanks for having this great recap up so quickly Urban!

Ay, yay, yay. Those previews. How's Dan going to talk his way out of a gun pointed to his head?

Loved your theme of observation. There was definitely a lot of people watching quietly and taking a lot in tonight: Luzma observing Cam-Dan; Rodolfo figuring out that Nat is a lying liar who lies; Amanda recognizing FJ Diaz; Al picking up on the fact that there is something between Mama Isa and Dio...

Mariano sent Cami a cell phone! That's awesome. Can I date him?

We can tell already that Ana and Cami are going to get on great. Snob Mom is going to lose it.

One of the things Cami suggested to Luzma again, in addition to not shutting out her mom, was seeing the psychologist. It looks like Luzma is a bit more open to the idea now. In general, she seems calmer and more at peace than she was last week. Better able to make decisions about her next steps. Of course, she also thinks that Pablo went away and is on his way to the US.

Nat was not pleased with the idea of coming back to work at Malquerida instead of being based in Buenaventura, where she can moon over Yago. Silly girl. Can't believe she is turning down Rod over Yago.

The pissing contest between Dio and Al was pretty funny. Even more so when Al's mommy had to jump in to separate the two boys.

I'm disappointed that Xi folded so easily to Dio. But I'm not surprised that her loyalty and devotion can be bought with a few designer goods.

Hi Urban, great recap as always. Without being able to see the shows for the last week, you make the scenes very, very vivid. I am a little confused on some of the nicknames that have developed. Who is el diablo and his lair is that Dionysio or Al?? There are a lot of characters in this drama now and It is really hard to keep them straight even when you see the scenes. Thanks for the help. The other subtitles I think really tell whose place it is. Thanks for helping out.

Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.

With Bruno saying he knows Aaron, upon seeing his picture (the one where he poses as Daniel) it probably won't be long until the truth spills out to Camila about who Andres/Daniel really is.

I wonder what's going to happen to Daniel/Andres, and how he's going to save himself from Dionisio pointing a gun to his head.

Looks like tomorrows episode could be pretty intense.

I also can't wait for Camila's reaction for when she finally sees Dionisio's true colors, from what she already knows.

Cheryl- Will you be joining us permanently on this one? Yay!

Let's see if I can clear up some of the nicknames:

Isadora: Mama Kimodo (Dragon)
Alonso: Kimodo Jr., Kimodo Kid, Alonsoloco (and many other riffs on this theme)
Dionisio: El Diablo
Leoncio: Leoncerdo, El Cerdo, He-who-shall-not-be-named

Isadora is also known as Hissadora.

Rocio= Snob Mom

Iliana= Brat Girl Jr.

Ximena= Ximeana, Brat Girl Sr.

No surprise about Ximeana folding to El Diablo; he has to appear to be a man of means (or more than he actually has) in order to be acceptable in Augustina's life and while he may not have had much exposure to Ximeana he figured her out very well (or got her mama to talk about her greed). If the latter is the case he would also know about how Ximeana and Camila don't get on.

Andres can certainly explain himself by telling him about the attempted rape. Having heard this it's an easy conclusion that Alonssso was back for another attempt. El Diablo certainly knows about his obsession.

But he will have tipped his hand regarding his own intentions toward Camila. I think Andres has already sensed it but this will make it obvious.

Is Camila as aware as Ximeana about how dense their mother is about men?

What an episode and so well recapped, UA! Love the dialogue.
Thanks for the great job.

The arrival of cute Ana, who wants to be a vet (is it perfect?), is in play for when the anvil drops. How long will they tease us, knowing that Andres/Daniel is in dange? I'm hoping not for a while yet because the suspense helps to make this TN addictive -- and it will be so painful to watch Camila's reaction to Daniel's deception.

Is there a suggestion that Yago may fall for Natalia, in a tortured, conflicted way? The parents will have a real problem them: each of of their sons swooning over a woman at Malquerida.

Someone remarked the other day that Luzma looks more mature in every episode as she acts more grown-up as well. Very pretty and able actress. I love her relationship with Andres.

Now can Leo really keep his mouth shut and do Dio's bidding as directed? Leo has challenged every one of his patrones. We'll see how these two devils do together.

Considering his alcoholism, I don't think that Leoncerdo will take long before screwing up in some way and El Diablo has a hotter temper than we thought. He has no patience for stupidity or weakness, either.

Mama Snob will have major problems with all of her sons. It would be quite a Karmageddon if one of them were foolish enough to marry Bratgirl, who is looking to life off the fat of their lands.

Thanks in advance UA for the recap which I havent read yet. I'm on my way out to help out at the polls. I couldn't resist previewing the comments and as usual they offer a lot of food for thought.

Thanks Vivi for clarifying the many nicknames. I didn't know that Ximena had been nicknamed Brat Girl Sr. So I'm sure that without your explanation I would have assumed that nickname belonged to the mother of Iliana whose nickname is brat girl :-)

Great recap, as always, UA. I loved your referring to Francisco Xavier Diaz Velasco as Daniel's real sperm donor, and to us as the cringing flies on the wall.

Alas, I fear you're right about the anvil poised over Becerra. He knows too much. If this were episodio 120, perhaps he'd not be in mortal danger, but to know so much in episodio 58 is something the writers probably cannot permit.

I don't know what D'andres will tell gun-pointing Dionisio, but I'm assuming he'll manage to talk his way out of this lio, at least for now. After all, He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named still has to have a chance to fulfill the assignment Komodo Jr. gave him.

I'm not sure I like the direction this TN is taking re Mariano. It's bad enough that he will have his heart broken over Camila, but to have his daughter disappointed as well.... But I don't see a likely alternative.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait a day for the next episodio. There's a different telenovela featured tonight, one that's been running for about two years and has finally arrived at últimas días. I'll be so glad when it's over--I hope!

What novela is that, Juanita?

"Bratgirl Sr" is new and only because Ximeana is older than Ileana. They are equally nasty and about a lot of the same things. Ileana helped facilitate the rape of Luzma that Ximeana laughed about later. Both of them will pay for this later.

Thanks for the recap Urban Anthropologist! I too agree that your recap is both witty and descriptive!! This is very helpful for people like me who are often in places where the TN is at a different spot than the US airing, or in a place where there isn't any Univision.

Someone asked about Rafa's fit ... I was able to watch the whole thing in Spanish on YouTube. At first I thought that he was mad because Dan was there to save Camila instead of him, but then I realized that he just wanted Camila to be done with Alonso (him out of there) altogether.

I know that Mariano and Amanda have not really crossed paths, but I think that she is a beautiful woman and could use a love interest. Too bad Padre is a padre in this case. They get on well.

I watched Cuidado con el Angel, and Rene Strickler (Mariano) was in that one too, playing the part of the "other man" who was in love with a woman who was in head over heels love with another man (played by William Levy.) Yes, Mariano is a nice guy who deserves a nice woman (but not Camila, she is for Dan the Man.)

TEAM RODOLFO! (Ok, just had to get that out!)

Traveling Lady, I think that you might be right. Yago may be a player, but part of him may really end of caring about Natalia. I don't think that he's all bad.

I keep thinking about this reveal. I mean Camila will be angry, but so many people already know and she will have to realize that they are keeping the secret to keep her safe.

So let's see, people who know:

Amanda
Luzma
Natalia
Padre
Vivi
Rafa

But they will have to bring this into play:

Miriam + baby were killed.
They tried to kill Daniel.
Padre was killed because he knew.
They already tried to kill Camila with a bull.

So ... three people already dead, and there have been two murder attempts.

That's a good reason to forgive. The need to keep Camila safe and not reveal his identity is real, not a hypothesis. If he reveals now, without having his name cleared, he can be hauled off to jail and Camila, the ranch, the family, all who work at La Mal will be in jeopardy.

If Dan was keeping the secret by himself, then there would be much more of a problem. But since Vivi and Rafa know everything (even his love for her), including that he is a double-agent for Dionisio, then "time-to-forgiveness" should happen sooner.

netgirl- I think Amanda is supposed to be much older than Mariano and the Padre. She needs a man in his 50s-60s, and Mariano needs a woman in her 30s. Hopefully the writers will create a good match for him after his heart is broken by Camila.

You list all the reasons why Dan and others have been determined to keep this all a secret from Camila up till now. It's logical from their point of view. But that doesn't mean that Camila still won't feel majorly betrayed. Her being mad is inevitable. The question is, how long will she stay mad. I really hope not for long. She's a pretty reasonable gal, but she also has a bit of a temper too.

Yep, Rafa was ticked that Camila is still tied to that slime Alonso, and he wants her out of harms way and as far away from Al as possible.

Great recap, UA--
I missed that it was a cell phone Mariano gave her. I remember now that she fessed up to not having one and he was really surprised. I'm wondering why Dan didn't either think of giving her one or asking her to get one. She's got the money, if he didn't.

I saw how long it took Amanda to dial Andres' number. Funny. I knew she was going to miss him, but the suspense was great! I was waiting for someone to come up behind her and stab her [not reallly, just movie mood].

Love how astute LuzMa is. She heard Dan call out Camilla's first name when he entered the cabana--a no-no between employer and employee at the ranch. During their car ride she brings up is something going on between him and Camila--I've heard you, when you think you are alone you use the familiar tu. He never answers her directly, but man he doesn't have to answer any of my questions as long as I get one of his smiles and laughs.

CherylINewMax--We invite you to visit an older posting in the Amor Bravio recap feed. You'll have to scroll down a bit to find it, I'm afrai. It's the Amor Bravio Extra--Operation Shine the Light (last updated 10/26) where we've listed the characters and their relationships (as tenuous as they might be), but not their nicknames.

Thanks for the recap UA. Great job, as always.

Some of my fav lines:

“Piedad does her shopping with Rudolfo in attendance to carry her purchases (and probably to make sure she isn't being cheated out of any cash she hands over).”

“Most viewers at this point would probably love to slap her flat.”

“(starts fixing his tie. Where is Dr Freud when we need him?)”

I love the scene with Cam and Vivi when, V was asking whether a relationship with Andres was more trouble than it’s worth (which I know now that’s what she was saying, thanks UA) and SN’s bit of business in that scene.

The phone style is probably just a decorative choice.

Dio better watch out. The nameless one is a loose cannon.

Is that an involuntary tic the actor who’s playing Dan’s father has, or is it a bit of business to indicate he’s lying—or maybe it’s he’s doing it to bolster his story about being sick? I vote for the lying theory.

I think when/if Nat gets dumped by Yago, then she’s going to have to woo Rodolfo.

Maybe the lady lawyer for Mariano?

I’m liking the scenes with Dan and Cam where they are playful which each other. Those kind of scenes shows me the seriousness of the relationship. The making love scenes could be just passion—but when I see them in their other scenes, I feel the romance.

I think it’s too soon for Fernando Colunga’s new TN to be shown here next. He just started filming it in October. Jarocha: Have you seen it, yet? Do you have an idea of which TN might be heading our way?

Nanette

Nanette: "I’m liking the scenes with Dan and Cam where they are playful which each other. Those kind of scenes shows me the seriousness of the relationship. The making love scenes could be just passion—but when I see them in their other scenes, I feel the romance."

In total agreement with you there. There is a real connection between these two, that goes beyond passion, and it shows.

Vivi: I also like his interactions with Luzma. I think now that he's being allowed to show his emotions more and he doesn't have to be the "si, patrona, si patron" under the radar person all the time I can see his charm. As an actor CdlF is given more to work with, plus working with SN is only going to encourage him to bring his A game and to hone his craft. He can't help but become a better actor working with the likes of her.

UA, I can't tell whether you asked "What novela is that?" in jest or not. The "novela" I had in mind is La Elección 2012," which, like any good novela, has been filled with mentiras, decepciones, estupideces, y más.

UA - fine recap. Appreciate the dialogue on the scene with Dio, Hissadora, and Alonsoloco.

Can't stand Al, but I did enjoy him standing up to Dio. Hissadora looked fabulous in the champagne dress. Loved when she told the two they're fighting over a woman that's already chosen a third man. Take that, Dio! Just hope he doesn’t take out his pique on clueless Gussie. Enjoying the dueling schemes between Hissadora and Dio.

Agree D’Andres will probably lie his way out with Dio by saying he was only following orders to protect Camila. But now Camila and D'Andres will have to lie low - and not in her cabana with the thin curtains. She's lucky so far folks knock before entering.

I'm scratching my head on why they don't tell Camila. She can handle it. She would keep the secret and become a member of the Scooby Gang. If she’d known, she could’ve tried to put distance between Gussie and Dio. D'Andres, hurry up and get the DNA results and lie that you got them before the shagging.

UA thanks for the recap. Things are getting to a boil and anvils are primed to fall. I hope we don't lose our dear lawyer but he doesn't know too much.

My biggest concerns for Wed are will Vivi and Rafa fall the sperm donor's lines and the wretched tio.

Thanks for a fine recap UA.

Last night, Al was great to watch... he often plays out his dweeby infantile character. The funniest scene was when X. challenged him to go ask his mom about her part in Dio getting Agustino to Vegas alone together and married. He bounced away with the funniest little strut. I don't know if others noticed it,but it was a LOL moment for me.

Mena- He sort of struts like George Jefferson from "The Jeffersons." :)

Yahhh, that's it! It makes me laugh when he does it.

UA, thank you for a great recap. Even though I’m at the point that I can understand the gist of the episode, your recaps never fail to fill in the blanks with interesting details and bits of information that I would have missed. As a piano student, I love your musical accompaniments.

Although I like Rene Strickler (Mariano), he isn’t one of my favorites. For that reason, I’m not overly concerned about his inevitable heartbreak. (He just may temporarily win Cami’s wounded heart when she temporarily kicks Dan to the curb for his deception). That said, I like the suggestion that the female lawyer (whom we haven’t met), may be a possible match for him.

Netgirl, your list does not include Aaron as one who knows about Dan.

Thanks Foxy. Yes, Aaron!

I'm hoping that Rodolfo will also become part of the "Scooby gang!" (Love that!) :)

Thanks for the recap. I would not watch these without the recappers. With each TN, I understand a bit more, but at times, they can be a bit like trying to read a book from the pictures, a little accurate but often way off.

I have a student in my Tuesday PM class who looks like Alonso. Very hard to focus on him beyond that fact.

Cindy

I think a female lawyer is just what the doctor ordered for Mariano; he appreciates intelligent women rather than the virginal doormat his mother would pick for him.

When did anyone say that Iago was a torero? He has no charisma.

Now Rodolfo has the look you want in a matador...

Nanette asked.....
"Is that an involuntary tic the actor who’s playing Dan’s father has, or is it a bit of business to indicate he’s lying—or maybe it’s he’s doing it to bolster his story about being sick? I vote for the lying theory."

The actor had that tic when he played the heroine's dad in the TN Pasión, so it's part of the actor's "schtick", and may be somewhat involuntary. However, I noticed that it would be more or less frequent/obvious depending on how much stress the character was under, so clearly the actor can control it somewhat for acting purposes.

Thanks much UA. I'm missed the TN last night - suffering from post-abysmal TN burnout disorder. So I haven't really been following this one. I usually catch your recaps though!

Without reviewing all of the comments, I think I remember someone saying that the novela is not coming on tonight. Is that correct?

Yes, Foxy. Univision is covering the election tonight. Amor Bravío will be back tomorrow.

Hey Audrey--thanks for the info.

Foxy--no AB tonight.

Election returns are a bore. I may just pull out a DVD.

Thanks UA, I was too busy today to watch, but I know I didn't miss anything because I read the recap and you are always so thorough.

Things are really heating up for our heroes. I hope they can regain the upper hand soon.

I am hoping that somebody can take Mama Snob down a notch or two in the next few episodes. That's why I'd like to see Mariano with someone like Camila (but not Camila herself).

UA, thanks for the marvelous recap. I just caught up having an extra day to do so.

I laughed in agreement about Omar receiving combat pay
for having to deal with he-who-shall-not-be-named. The idea of helping to get that guy cleaned up--yuck!

I wasn't confounded by the look of Amanda's phone which I agree was decorative, but I was almost screaming in impatience at how ........LONG.......it took to dial. Was it really that way? How easily we forget.

There is absolutely no excuse for Camila not to be told. How does keeping this secret help keep her safe?

Loved Dio being told that Camila was with that chofer. Very fun. And, I enjoyed Al satisfaction at Dio's discomfiture at the news.

I don't miss rotary phones at all considering how a mistake could be costly in terms of time. I occasionally laugh at how a rotary phone confounds people young enough to not have known them.

We can't be far away from the DNA test results. Even if they were first cousins this relationship isn't illegal in Mexico. It also isn't icky because they didn't grow up together. And there are geneticists who can tell them their chances of having healthy children.

Which still ignores the possibility that Miriam is still alive. We still have no confirmation of her death; only Abraham's word to Daniel.

Though its legal in Mexico - and half of the U.S. - in this case my issue with the first cousin thing is that Daniel knows about the possibility while Camila does not. Ideally in a relationship both amantes should know the essential stuff.

UA: "I occasionally laugh at how a rotary phone confounds people young enough to not have known them." There's a really funny scene in In & Out about that.

I have a friend who still has a rotary phone in her living room specifically to discourage other people from using it when she leaves the room!
