Amor Bravío #56 (Uni 51) Thu 11/1/12 Amor Decidido

D'Andres drops the simultaneous bombs that (1) Camila's mom is in Vegas with Dio alone and (2) he works for Dio.  His excuse is that he knows Dio wants to get with Camila and so he accepted the job to keep all interested parties, including Dio himself, away from her.  She thinks that's ridiculous and he's just trying to justify himself.  Cam can't understand that Dio, aka her mom's boyfriend, would be interested in her.  D'Andres says one horndog recognizes another.  Plus, he doesn't trust Dio, so he's being a double-agent.  Cam admits she also distrusts him, based on Osvalso's report that Dio had once tried to buy La Malquerida.  She accepted his excuse at the time, but mostly to avoid a fight with her mother.  She knows mamita trusts him implicitly and she's not ok with it.  Camila asks D'Andres not to hide things from her or lie to her…too late, babe.  Those are going to be some monumental fireworks.  Even Mr. 5ft is encouraging him to come clean.

Disgusting Leo is raiding the fancy liquor cabinet.  Dio's new valet tells him to cut it out.  Leo actually tries to pull rank on the guy.  The valet tells him to get his ass into the shower cause he stinks.  Leo makes a disgusting remark about the maid, the shower, and washing.

Piedad and the other maid talk about what to do now that Leo is out.  Piedad is considering leaving, maybe to go back north, maybe to find Fidencio's family.  She's sure Leo had something to do with Fidencio not showing up for the wedding.  The other maid thinks she ought to ask Camila for help first instead of running away.  She thinks the ranch is safer than risking Leo following them.

Irene comes to find out what happened in the meeting with Luzma and Ileana.  Luzma won't tell her what Ilena said, despite Irene's promise not to say anything this time.

Camila confronts Ximena about stealing from her.  Xime breaks into tears and says she was desperate…Cami was in the hospital and she needed money.  "You faked my signature!"  Ximena says she got fired and that's why she came out to the ranch.  She needed money to pay her debts.  She's really turning on the waterworks here and Camila appears to be buying it.  Xime says she didn't want to bother Camila when Camila had so many problems already.  Cami, being too nice for her own good, tells Xime that they're family and she can always come to her, etc.  Xime asks for a favor--not to tell Mami.  Camila agrees.  They hug while evil Ximena grins behind Camila's back.

Alonso gets into La Malquerida, shouting for Camila.  Xime directs him to the cabin.  She's not happy that he's not happy about getting his divorce papers.  She asks about the car and he lies and says it's not that simple and he'll give her the money once he has it.

Mariano realizes there's something fishy with the receipt Alonso gave Camila for the equipment.

Alonso is pissed at being called "impotent" in the divorce paperwork.  Camila just wants the damn divorce already.  She doesn't care if he has a lover.  Alonso blames her for never consummating the marriage.  He vows to prove to her that he's a man.  She has a hard time fighting him off, what with her recent injury.  Some man he is if he needs a bull to soften a woman up for him, the worthless jackass!  Luzma comes to Camila's rescue, breaking a vase over Alonso's head.  Eso!  Asi se hace!

D'Andres shows up at Viviana's house pretending to be delivering something from Camila for the benefit of Dio's new valet.  Vivi's still pissed at him.  He apologizes yet again to Vivi and Rafa.  He says he loves Camila and he's scared about what's going to happen when she finds out.  He doesn't think she'll forgive him.  They're all in the same boat there.  D'Andres doesn't want her to be mad at the two of them and will try to bear the brunt of the blame.

Alonso is coming around.  Camila got her hands on something to swat him with.  She screams at him to get out, to get our of her life, and not to come near him.  Luzma is half hiding behind her and half holding her back.  Alonso swears she's the only woman he's ever loved.  Camila is having none of this and disagrees vehemently with his declaration of love.  She swears she'll get that divorce one way or another.  Alonso stumbles out of the cabin and Camila cries her eyes out and clings to a shocked Luzma.

Natalia's all dressed up for her date.  She lies and says it's a meeting.  Amanda's a little suspicious.  Natalia says there's a family dinner after the meeting.  She's being picked up in a taxi in the town square…riiiight.  She babbles a lot and eventually gets out of there.

Alonso gets back to his car and realizes he's bleeding.  Ximena is waiting for him, but he kicks her out of the car.  Oh, I'm sure she'll take that well.

Vivi tells D'Andres that Ximena is apparently a friend of Bruno's.  He fills her in on Ximena also being a thief, in addition to Alonso's bang buddy.

Yago picks up Natalia in the town square.

Pablo is furious that Leo is out.  He and Mariano agree that Luzma has to be protected.  Mariano is also worried about Pablo's safety and pretty much orders him never to leave the ranch alone.

Team D'Andres gets caught up on: Amanda's suspicions that Isidora killed Padre Baldy; Dio's email being proof of Daniel's innocence, but not for the courts; Padre Anselmo setting up a meeting with a lawyer to work on proving Daniel's innocence officially; and D'Andres wanting them around when he gets the DNA test results.  Hugs and kisses all around as D'Andres takes his leave.

Mariano tells Pablo about Ximena being the one who stole the check.  Pablo's horrified.  Oh, yeah, and also Ximena's shagging Alonso.  Mariano swears Pablo to secrecy.  He didn't want to tell Camila cause she's already got more than enough on her plate.

Evil Mama gets a call for Mariano…Ana's not doing well.  She's been taken to the hospital.  Eeeeeverybody offers to go, but Cayetano says he and Ileana should stay.  And Yago took, I suppose, since he's out on his date.

Luzma puts something on Camila's face.  She has Luzma grab her gauze and scissors.  They cut Camila's pants open to see that her wound is bleeding.  She says it doesn't hurt much.  "Sometimes it hurts more on the inside."  Luzma admits it's the same way for her.  She can still feel Leo's hands on her.  She supposes that will go away after a while.  Luzma says she just couldn't help it--when she saw what Alonso was trying to do, she couldn't help hitting him.  Camila is glad she did.  They agree no woman deserves to be attacked.  They ponder why it is that there are men who insist on taking women by force.  Camila rightly frames it as an issue of trying to have control and power.  Camila says Luzma will come out ahead and Camila will get her divorce.  She's not planning on telling everyone, despite telling Luzma that denouncing rapists is the right thing to do.  She's only going to tell her lawyer, to add it to her grounds for divorce.  Luzma says Alonso better not ever set foot in La Malquerida again, in that case.  They both vow no man will ever hurt them again.

Rodolfo brought mariachis to Natalia's.  They're playing Solamente Una Vez.  Aw, damn!  Amanda has to come out and tell him that Natalia's not home.  She repeats the story about the meeting at Buena Aventura.  Amanda says she's sure Natalia will be sorry to have missed such a beautiful serenata.

Natalia's out at a club with Yago.  They're thankfully not playing the "Sexy Sexy Smile" song.  He talks her into doing a shot of tequila.  OMG!  That's one big-ass shot!  Natalia doesn't finish hers.  Yago tries to kiss her, saying it's her reward for finishing the shot.  She doesn't appreciate that.  He pulls her onto the dance floor.

Camila is trying to scrub Alonso off her in the tub, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Alonso gets home and sits around in his living room feeling sorry for himself.   He actually appears to be pretty traumatized by his own behavior.  I'd feel sorry for him, but I suspect his trauma won't last.

D'Andres comes home…uh…comes back to Camila's cabin.  They both claim to be hurting because they ran into doors.

Piedad comes to see Luzma.  She mentions that Padre Anselmo asked to see Luzma.  "He also told me something else that might help you make the decision about your child.  Maybe when the baby is born you can give it up for adoption."  Luzma wonders if anyone will want the baby if it's sick.  She doesn't want any more pressure.  It's enough knowing her uncle isn't locked up anymore.

Mariano, Pablo, and Mami Dearest are waiting to hear what's going on with Ana the Mystery Woman.  Another woman shows up, saying she's sorry she was away.  The doctor says Ana got through her surgery just fine.  It was appendicitis, and everything's all good now.  Mariano can see her once she's out of recovery and in a room.

Alonso drives up to the house, asking for Camila.  I guess no one told Rodolfo he's persona non grata.  Luzma finds out he's there and goes running.

Alonso enters the cabin and Camila scrambles to grab the phone.  Alonso says he's sorry…and proves it by bringing the signed divorce papers.  He got a fresh copy from her lawyer.  ("Good!  Now get the F out" says Mr. 5ft…I concur.)  He keeps apologizing, saying she's the only woman he's ever loved, he never wants to hurt her again, he was an idiot, he didn't know how to appreciate her, how to show his love.  "Nobody showed me how to love.  I'm sorry."

Luzma finds D'Andres and tells him what happened last night and that Alonso's alone in the cabin with her.

Camila walks Alonso out to his car.  She just wants him gone and she doesn't want him to come anywhere near her.  D'Andres comes running up to shove Alonso and tell him he'll never hurt Camila again.  While D'Andres' back is turned, Alonso whacks him with a shovel and kicks him while he's down.

Tomorrow: Alonso survives the fight, tells Isadora about it, and she realizes D'Andres is Camila's lover.  Like it matters.  They're divorced already.

Seriously..."I walked into a door." That's practically code for "Someone beat on me and I'm trying to keep that information from you."

One more weekend of shows, that I know of, this time in Nogales. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Great stuff, Kat. And of course you can.

I hope that breaking that vase over Alonssso's slimy head does Luzma some good. She did what she couldn't do to Leoncerdo at the time and I hope she can start healing.

Not looking forward to the Big Reveal when Camila will be rejecting Daniel, Rafael, and Viviana over the Big Deception.

I am guessing that Ana -- whoever she is -- is mentally ill and more or less permanently institutionalized. The grey-haired woman looks like she is Mariano's suegra.

The look on Ximeana's face when Camila hugged her was demonic, like Linda Blair in The Exorcist.

Daniel/Andres (I hate the contraction) rescuing Camila in the avances feels to me like a preview of when he will have to rescue her from El Diablo.

I just have to say that amid the nauseating Luzma rape and pregnancy and the drama between Cam and Dan, I laughed and laughed when the singers showed up at Nat's house and found Amanda.

It was good to have a laugh at this show.

Thanks for the recap.

Cindy

Thanks, Cat, and Mr. 5ft, too. He made some excellent contributions. Continued good luck getting through the performances -- I'm sure they are great and great fun.

A good moment for all when Luzma crashed that vase on Alonso's deserving head. He's an evil weed and his sick obsession with Camila knows few boundaries, as Ximena is finding out. But at last, the divorce papers are signed.

Whatever Ana's condition, Mariano certainly looked relieved and seems to be on good terms with the suegra. Yes, UA, I agree, some kind of impairment that has led to institutionalizaton.

Daniel is not a good spy, double-agent, mole -- whatever. He plays his hand so often. It's endearing but not so wise for one trying to conceal his identity and protect all the people he is dragging along with him in the deception. The anvil is coming down closer and closer to the heads of Camila and Daniel.

We've had enough violence against women in this novela lately. I hope that Iago doesn't try to hurt Natalia in any way. He is so unattractive compared to Rodolfo, by the way.

True. The actor playing Rudolfo deserves to become a full-fledged galan if he works out enough and his acting holds up; the fellow playing Iago won't become a lead unless he can qualify as a future Controlling Father, but he doesn't have a basso profundo that appears to be the main qualifier.

Mark me down for Team Rodolfo too.

5 FT, our Little Engine that Could - I am so relieved to read this wonderful recap. I turned on the tv as Camila was bruised and crying in a bubble bath and I was sure she'd been raped. I turned it off and said "No Mas". I was ready to join mi amiga, Nanette, or maybe just let this show drop altogether. I am happy to still be here, and looking forward to watching Luzma with the vase.

UA - I have a dear friend named Linda Blair. Her life was "hell" back in the 70s. I'll keep an eye out for that face as I'm watching.

Great recap, Kat. I don't know how you do it with all you've got on your plate, but I'm most grateful.

I was glad to see that Luzma was able to be there when Camila needed help. I'm sure that smashing the vase on Alonso's head was not only much needed but also quite cathartic.

OTOH, the later scene where Alonso brings the signed divorce papers makes me think that, unlike Hissadora and Diabolic Dionisio, Alonso will be redeemed.
He really did seem genuinely repentent, and he's never felt comfortable about the nastier things that Hissadora and DD have been plotting and doing. (Frankly, though, I could have done without the soppy "No one showed me how to love.")

I hate to say it, but it really does look as if Natalia may be the next rape victim. Though perhaps she'll somehow manage to thwart Yago's likely attempt. ¡Ojalá! As others have said, there's no need for another rape victim in this TN. Since TNs seem intent on providing PSAs, Natalia could provide an example of how to avoid/thwart such an attempt.

Question: Is the Shakespearean character Iago spelled Yago in Spanish?

Again, many thanks, Kat, and good luck for the remaining performances. You can do it, you can do it.

5 ft - Great recap. Thanks.

I too am delighted Luzma's is the one who stopped the rape. It's about time a woman comes to the rescue, instead of a man. And she can't kept help but feel more empowered now.

I don't care for Yago, but I think he fancies himself a seducer, not an abuser. But if he goes the rape route too, I’m outa here.

Camila needs to get those divorce papers notarized, or whatever, right away, before Alonsloco reneges because of D'Andres.

Juanita, according to this the answer to your question is Si.

I changed the spelling because he is analgous to the Shakespearean villain in that he betrays his brother, which is equal to betraying a friend.

It looks like he's setting Natalia up to be a date-rape drug victim.

Oh! I can't stand the thought of Iago date-raping Natalia! What is it with this show? The good is so good, but the bad is intolerable.

Why why why won't Daniel come out with the truth NOW? He's had so many opportunities. At this point, they almost need to have an intervention with the Dan, Vi, Rafa apologizing profusely. Of course that won't happen. How frustrating!

Thanks, UA, for the information and that very useful site. I've now bookmarked it.

I hope you're wrong about the "drug" part. From what I've read, she wouldn't stand much of a chance against Rohypnol or other similar drugs, and I really want to see her succeed. Two rapes and one attempted rape in one TN is truly excessive. OTOH, one of the two directors and three of the four writers listed in IMDb for Amor Bravío were also responsible for En Nombre del Amor, in which two major sympathetic characters were killed off, so I guess we should be prepared for the worst.

And the Yago spelling makes Yucky Yago, which is what we'll think of him, or YY, if this is really what he's up to.

I was so proud of Luzma. Here she is witnessing a rape in progress and she doesn't cave, then or afterward. What a strong woman. I know she's had to mature fast because of what happened to her, I'm just glad that Pablo is showing maturity, too or their romance would be doomed. I'm waiting for the day when our Luz finds the joy of living again.

I couldn't figure out who the heck was in the hospital. At first I thought it was Nana. It wasn't until this morning that I thought it might be Ana. Guess that's true from what I read in the comments (haven't read the recap yet.)

Here's hoping that Iago is just a player and not a rapist, because I agree that would be overkill. We get it already. RlaO, mi amiga: at that point I might have to bail.

I also believe that Al isn't all bad. I'm hoping for a redemption for him in Ultimas Semanas, unless he goes completely to the dark side.

Nanette

Guess I should finish my sentence:
The Yago spelling will help the name Yucky Yago look better in writing. He sure isn't looking any better the more we see him.

What scares me about this is that they may do the date-rape just to exacerbate the difference between YY and Pablo. Pablo will find out what Bro did to Natalia and compare/contrast what happened to his Luzma setting up an East of Eden-like conflict.

I kinda think I'm a robot. I cannot tell what these numbers are most of the time.

RlaO: re: the robot. If I can read the letters, I can hardly read the numbers and when I can read the numbers, I can hardly read the letters.

It's an evil plot.

As if we need more evil plot.

Commenting from my phone so I'll be brief. Great recap Kat. Always love what Mr. 5 Ft has to say. I was glad it was Luzma who saved Cami for all the reasons stated. A woman saving a woman and good for Luzma's sense of enpowerment. Agree that Al isn't all evil but mentally ill and tortured. But he can't blame that or Isa on his actions. Glad he signed the papers. I don't think Yago is a rapist. Just a player who seduces and dumps. That's what he's known for but Nat keeps ignoring everyone's warnings.

Glad that Dan found out about the attempted rape quickly but now folks will be on to him and Cami.

Glad the Scooby Doo Gang is at peace with each other again. They'll need to be united when Cami finds out the truth and gives them all hell.

Laughed when Cami nearly laughed when Dan said he knows when a man has the hots for a woman because he's a MAN! LOL!

Great recap Kat and I love it when Mr. 5Ft puts his two cents in.

I’m glad that Daniel told Cam that Dio is interested in her. Put her even more on her guard.

Xi’s fake crying is so much better than Ivana’s (STuD). Her grin is almost as evil.

Vivi: Didn't catch it that people had been warning Nat about YY. Or is it just Rodolfo? :)

Another reason I was glad it was Luz who rescued Cam, besides it being cathartic, it was unexpected. We either expected: Cam gets raped, Cam defends herself sucessfully or Dan comes to the rescue

I'm with everyone else who love Mr 5ft's comments. But I'll bet he's taller than 5ft. Maybe he should be named Mr 5ft 10 inches.

I will confess to feeling sorry for Al. With a mother who is so evil and has never loved him, he really is mentally off. I'll bet he really does love Camila but has never learned the correct way to love someone.

And Cam will at least be en garde for Dio trying to make the moves on her. So I'm glad that Dan told her about him.

I also agree that Yago is more a player than a rapist. He will try to get her drunk so she will go along with him. He will keep trying with her until she gives in and then dump her.

How much longer until Cam finds out everything? And now that Dan is hurt, this could drag out for quite a while longer.

Maybe I just heard Mariano or someone else mention his rep to women. I could have sworn someone also said it to Nati. Either way, she is missing all the signs that this guy does not take her seriously-- keeping their date secret; picking her up in the town square instead of her home; maving too fast with the physical stuff; flirting but no romance... She is in for a rude awakening.

...mention his (Yago's) rep WITH women to Yago.

Cathy- Didn't Dan say he wanted to wait until he at least knew what his legal position was before revealing all to Cami? I'm sure he also wants to wait till he has the DNA results so that he can at least assure her that she didn't boink her cousin! Oh man is she going to be p*ssed off about that, because he did the deed with her before having confirmation that they weren't cousins. Maybe he should decline to mention the timeline of the test...

Vivi, I remember that too. I think it was Mariano telling it to someone. Don't remember who though.

Dan did want to wait for all those things, and who knows how long he's going to be out with whatever he's suffering from with the shovel hit. We may be looking at episode 100 or later. But I hope not.

Vivi: Iago is definitely giving Nat signs that he's a player, but she's so innocent and so wants to believe that a rich, "handsome" dude would want her. Poor little Nat.

Great recap! Thank you!

Al is getting crazier each episode! I'm glad Luzma was the one to rescue Camila.

Ximena is pretty crazy herself. That evil smile was priceless.

I'm still waiting to see the full aftermath of the Vegas wedding.
--TF

Kat, as always, I love your recaps. Thanks so much.

Vivi, I giggled too when Dan said "soy hombre" and Camila is laughing at him assuming it's just about jealousy.

I echo all the comments that I was so glad it was Luzma that whacked AlLoco. But later I was so afraid the writers were going to ruin it all when Luzma heard Al had returned the next day. When she ran off after Rodolfo told her Al went to see Cami, I was convinced she was going to get a gun and shoot him before seeing he wasn't a threat this time. I admit I was happier to see Daniel at risk than Luzma also facing a murder charge.

Yucky Yago doesn't seem like the rapist type. If he did his brothers would castrate him. They work with bulls so that wouldn't be a problem.

He's a player yeah and definitely looking for a fun time only. He might convince Nat to have sex and then leave her or continue to use her, whatever.

Nat deserves it b/c she's starting to act a little like Agustina.

From now on I'll call her Gnat when she behaves this way.

And YY continues to disrespect her and she cant' see it. That maybe b/c she doesn't have any love experience. Good luck Gnat.

Something funny I noticed last night:

The filming set of the hospital waiting area where Mariano & family are in is the same set where they filmed the Las Vegas hotel room with Dio & Agustina in bed, you can tell b/c they had the same wall with a red ornamental finish.
So technically you could say that Dio & Agustina had sex in the hospital waiting area. Ja ja ja.

Ms 5 ft & Mr 5' +, gracias for the collaboration (ha).

I didn't catch why Dan said he'd run into a door when he slipped into Cam's bed. I laughed along with everybody else about his being able to sniff out another guys interest in a dame!

Dan had to kinda plead with Viv and Rafa to forgive him and be friends again. We would want these three to be united when Cami's tornado hits them.

I think the big reveal will have to wait while Cami nurses our wounded hero. Never would have guessed it was going to be Luzma with a vase in the cabana.

I think what spurred Dan on to assault Al was that Al said he wanted to hug Cam and she recoiled and told him to just leave. Not sure if that is what Dan saw. At any rate, he was going on what Luzma had told him. Never would have guessed that Al would have won the match.

Flaco--You gave me this biggest laughs today. The bros "taking care" of Yago should he turn out to be a rapist and Dio & Aug doing the horizontal tango in the "hospital waiting room".

Thanks Kat for taking time out from your busy schedule to entertain us with your usual great recap.

I can't help but wonder if there's any chance of Cami proving all of us wrong by not being completely devastated and disappointed with D'Andres when he finally confesses.

D'Andres is so in love until he's getting careless. He should have known that you don't punch somebody out and then turn your back to them. Yep! D'Andres set himself up for that shovel attack. But I hope he's OK.

Would someone please elaborate on that scene when D'Andres took the gift basket to Vivi's apt. What was that all about? Was it a joke? What exactly changed Vivi and Rafa from anger to best friends again? Was it because D'Andres said he'd bear most of the blame?

It'll be interesting to see how Isadora plans to use info that Camilla's lover is of all people, a lowly chofer.

Foxy--The only thing I can tell you about the gift basket is that somehow Dan knew Vivi's house was being watched by Dio's HenchmanII. He wanted to visit his friends and make amends, since both of them were pithed at him (remember the slap Viv gave him?)

So he made up that story of La Sra. Camila sending them something. Then, he said out loud that he was also to pick something up. That's why he went in. Otherwise, it wouldn't have seemed logical to DHII for him to go it, he would have just handed the basket over and left.

He's apologizing abjectly to them for the sin of loving Camila and messing everything up by not telling her the truth when he had the opportunity and all the other stuff that's been going on that prevented him from telling her. I think he also mentioned Padre A's advice not to tell her until the lawyer he's getting for Dan has his a** covered. He doesn't want to present himself to Camila still being an escaped prisoner. Vivi and Rafa forgave him and they had a group hug showing there were no hard feelings.

Yeah, Isa will definitely use the information to HER benefit and probably leave Dio out of it -- or dangle it infront of Dio's nose. If the latter, then Dan has some 'splainin' to do as to what he was doing messing with Camila and being Dio's side arm. Anyway, lots of fun ahead for the Triple Treaters.
Anita

I made a typos, but don't feel like deleting and starting over.

...logical for him to go IN,...

When Dan dropped Gussy off at the airport and Dio and his new henchman Omar drove up, Dan learned who Omar is and Dio even pointed out who he is to Dan. So Dan knew right away when he saw him hanging outside of Vivi's place. In any case, I think he would have guessed a strange guy dressed in a black suit hanging outside was on Dio's payroll.

Isa is just guessing that Dan is her lover, she has no definitive proof. She's guessing it's him because of how he defended her. I don't think he said anything like "hands off my lover" or anything when Al wanted to hug her.

Cathyx: That's very true. He could be a worker defending his patrona--even a worker with a crush on his patrona defending her. His actions don't necessarily mean he's her lover.

True, but remember, Dan put both his hands on her shoulders and was quite close to her face. An empleado-chofer would never do anything like that--that's too intimate a gesture (except for Rodolfo's exuberant acceptance of his new post). Isa didn't see the "action" so she's only going on what Aloooo saw and did. She's guessing, but we have to acknowledge that guessing right is sometimes the only way our villains can take the next step.

Thanks to great team members for clarifying that scene in Vivi's apt. I didn't connect it at all to the henchman watching or to the slap Vivi had given him.
