Amores Verdaderos #16 Thu 11/29/12 Love in an elevator, livin’ it up when I’m going down

* The fight between Bratty and My Little Pony is interrupted by the Angel. What’s happening here, what’s all that shouting? Nothing, Dad, says Liliana. The Arriagas leave and they take Adelita, too. Nikki demands Francisco to take back her orchid from that thug, but the angry bodyguard puts her into her place: first of all, she should learn to show some respect towards him, second, she always told him she doesn’t need anyone to defend her. Francisco also leaves and Nikki, whose ass has been just handed to her (figuratively) starts crying.

* Alamos, Sonora. The famous and mysterious Candelaria (Ana Martín dressed like a nurse), whom Paula fears like the Devil is talking with Cristina on phone. She’s shocked by the tragedies that happened to the Arriaga family, but Cristina tells her enthusiastically that fortunately everything is going just fine, they live in a great apartment, oh, and she has a fantastic neighbor, a real lady, whom she will introduce to Candelaria the next time she comes to visit the family. Paula, who was present the whole conversation is horrified now.

* Guzmán politely asks Victoria if she could give him his salary in advance. And please write the check under his father’s name. Nikki bursts into the room and tells her mom that Arriaga’s daughter is a thief, she stole the orchid that Nikki’d given to Vic for her birthday!!! Victoria tells her that Liliana didn’t do anything wrong, it was her who gave her the plant. YOU MEAN YOU GAVE AWAY MY GIFT? Why?! Vic tells Nikki the sad story of Adelita, the faded flower and promises her that Lili’s just taking care of the plant until it gets healthy again. Oh, all right. Francisco leaves and Nikki continues her epic rant: okay, she doesn’t care about the plant but she really, really hates her bodyguard! She hates bodyguards, the daughters of the bodyguards, the mother of the bodyguards, and everyone, all of them! Nikki leaves too, leaving a completamente shocked Vic behind. It seems everyone’s having a shitty day in this episode.

* I can’t talk about this scene without my blood pressure being raised to the stars. After having taken their son to school and having done the shopping at the market, Beatriz returns to her home where her pig of a husband starts to (or continues to) destroy her self-respect and sane mind, and tells her that he doesn’t like that he leaves the house without his permission. And he’ll ask his mom to do the shopping from now. He’s sick of Beatriz. Why does she want to work if she can’t even take care about her own husband (which is her main obligation)? And then he hits her. God, I hope this storyline will end soon.

 * At Meta Imagen Nelson and Salsero talk about Kendra. Dances with Sunglasses have seen Casanova having flings with women before many times, and he always made sure that his love life didn’t interfere with his family life, but now… Oh come on, says Nelson, he won’t have problems with Barbie either. But no, Salsero thinks this time it’s different. He investigated Kendra, and she’s that kind of woman who won’t be appeased by flowers and gifts. She wants everything, she won’t stop until she becomes the next Sra. Brizz. Nelson really wants to risk literally everything for that woman?

* Hilda and Paula talk about Candelaria and her daughter. Paula admits that she likes Cristina and if she wasn’t who she is, they could become friends. But she’s your enemy, says Hilda, don’t you ever forget that.

* Aníbal and Odette meet at Meta Imagen. They are quite friendly with each other, and it turns out that she tried to jump his bones after his wife’s death. Oh, the good old times. She congratulates him for the success of the company, but he informs her that all credit goes to Victoria. Speaking of Vic, she’s just arrived with Arriaga. Uh-oh, the air freezes and all the employees are watching the two women as they share a friendly kiss and leave to Victoria’s room. Hilda gives José Ángel the 411 about Odette: she’s the archenemy of the Balvaneras!

* It turns out Odette wants a fusion between Meta Imagen and her company, but Victoria isn’t interested. At all. Odette takes offence at her refusal and reminds her of a very old story: many, many years ago the two companies almost united, but Aníbal took offence at her trust and he stole her most important clients. Victoria thinks her version of the story is a big fat BS. Anyway, there’s a very important contract the two companies are competing for, and Odette says they should meet in the afternoon to celebrate the success of whoever won it. Of course, says Vic. As long as Victoria is out of eyesight, Odette calls someone and tells him/her that there is no truce and the original plan continues.

* Tomasina scolds Polita who’s so curious that sometimes she reads the private documents of the Balvaneras.

* Nikki and Francisco arrive at the fitness club and they find Liliana in the swimming pool. Bratty is outraged that Lili dared to enter HER club.

* Antonio and Aníbal talk about Paula and his daughters, and the old rascal gets VERY nostalgic with Candelaria. Yeah, he can’t stop thinking about her, and he can’t fathom why she disappeared without a trace 38 years ago. And as for Paula, he hopes she won’t force him to choose between her and Victoria… because he would never, ever jeopardize his relationship with Vic and his grandchild.

* Lili tells Nikki that she was given a membership to the club by Victoria because she knew she loved swimming. As she leaves with the trainer, she crashes with the annoyed Nikki.

 * Adriana is looking for a woman called Opalina. She was the one who told her her child was alive, and now Adriana’s sure she’ll help her find the kid.

* There’s big drama in the swimming pool: the girls competed with each other, Nikki won, she started to taunt the country girl to which Lili gave her a bitchslap… and now they’re in the middle of a pathetic underwater catfight. Poor boys have no choice but to jump into the pool and separate them by force.

* Nelson and Vic are talking about the contract, Odette and her devious plans, when Casanova suddenly drops an “I love you, Victoria” bomb out of the blue. Wow, it seems Salsero’s little speech about Kendra hit a nerve, didn’t it. They kiss but they are interrupted by Angel who must have a sixth sense for this stuff. Vic and Arriaga leave. Nelson is very impressed by himself: it’s sooo easy to play the perfect husband! Dumbass.

* The fight continues at the swimming pool. FF-->

* Victoria and Arriaga arrive at a big business center where she’s supposed to sign the Extremely Important Contract with the French partner. They have to be very punctual, says Vic as they enter the elevator. Oops, suddenly two strange repairmen turn up: one in the hall and another in the basement where he stops the elevator. (I think I know the one from the hall, he played one of Juan’s fisherman friends in CS and a thug in LVO. Yep, my mind has an endless capacity for useless information.) Arriaga tries to ask for help but nobody answers and their phones have no signal either. That’s bad. Really, really bad. And the situation gets worse when Victoria admits she has claustrophobia and she passes out, right into José Ángel’s arms.

* The repairman-thug from the basement call Odette, because it was her who ordered this little mischief. Raise your hand if you’re surprised. She tells the thug to keep Vic in the elevator until the French partners leave.

* On the 500th floor of the business center the French grow more and more impatient.

* At the Balvanera’s Nikki tells Guzmáncito that he shouldn’t think she’s a horrible girl. Arriaga’s daughter, Mariana (Francisco: her name is Liliana), all right, Liliana, Mariana, Tatiana, whatever, so, she was very rude to her. Oookay, Nikki admits she has a “special character” (aka bad temper) but if you know how to deal with her, she is “divine”. Jean Marie brings her some food and Nikki asks Guzmán to join her. So, this Rosana is muy mal educada, isn’t she? Francisco: her name is Liliana. Rosana, Mariana, Hilda, whatever! And the country girl should’ve never competed with her because Nikki is a much better swimmer. That was an epic fail. Guzmán reminds Bratty of the fact that it was her who started to compete with Liliana to which Nikki reacts with an annoyed “all right, end of break, gorilla, now we are going to the agency!” Poor Francisco, he hasn’t eaten all day.

* Dances with Sunglasses and Barbie meet in the garage. Salsero is jealous as always and Kendra plays with him… as always. She tells him she talked with the guys who burnt Arriaga’s house and they really want to kidnap Victoria. Please say yes and Vic will be out of the picture in four days.

 * In the elevator Victoria wakes up at last and now she has a panic attack. Great. The Angel hugs the hysterical woman and tries to calm her down: inhale, exhale, Sra. Victoria, inhale, exhale, inhaaale… exhaaale… Hey, guys, your lips are getting too close, dangerously close for married folks!

I love this song... so I just needed a pretext to use it. :)

Recap is in the making.

LOL I have not heard that song, must be country?

Don't tell me Viki is unconscious in that elevator. I can't wait to watch the rest of my recording. Next, we'll start seeing product placement for smelling salts. I cannot remember a telenovela heroine who has been unconscious more often.

Doris lol, the song is by Aerosmith. Definitely not country.

Aerosmith - Love In An Elevator :)

Aribeth-thanks for the link, and can't wait for your great recap.

Aribeth: Love your recaps - think this will be a great one.

True story. When I was in college, Aerosmith played in the basement of our campus church. Tickets were $1. Sigh.

Diana

That of course was in the early 70's way before they hit it big.

Diana

Yep, Vicki sure passes out a lot.

Hmmm, so Cristina's mother, Candelaria, is portrayed by Ana Martín. That shorter haircut looks great on her.

Diana- I've got another Aerosmith story for you. When I was in college in Boston, I met Steven Tyler while we were both waiting to see the ophthalmologist for VERY early morning appointments. We were the only two customers in the place. The doc had opened early, I thought at the time he was just being nice to me, because I realized my first day back in classes that I couldn't see a thing on the overhead projector, and I needed new glasses immediately. I was picking up the new glasses and rushing to get to my 8:30 am class. While the ophthalmologist was getting my glasses in the back, in walks Steven. My thoughts- "Jeez that skinny guy is dressed kind of funny. Hey, he looks kind of familiar. I wonder who he is?"

The two of us walk around the store looking at the glasses and sunglasses. We nod at each other and say polite good mornings and make small talk. He must have been wondering why he wasn't getting more of a reaction. The doc comes out and says, "Hey Steve! Can you wait a bit while I finish up with this young lady?" He says no prob. I try on my new glasses and look around. One of the first things I see above the head of the doc are two autographed pictures of the doc with Steve, with a message and his full autograph, Steven Tyler. My reaction: "Hey! That name sounds familiar. Hmm... I wonder who he is?" LOL! It wasn't until I had lunch with friends later and asked them, that they told me who he was. They all thought it was really cool and freaked out about it. I continued to see the same ophthalmologist throughout college, but I never ran into Steve again.

Vivi, great story!

I like the fact you were so cool (albeit unintentionally :)) He must have enjoyed being treated as a real person rather than as a celeb...I imagine it was nice for him to carry on a casual conversation and "knowing" you - I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed it.

I became an Aerosmith fan early on and brought their music very proudly to my friends and fam in Jersey. It was nice being in on their "rise" from early on and introducing their music which soon became wildly popular and took on a life of its own.

Diana

Vivi in DC - Wow, what a Steven Tyler story! At least you had an excuse... you weren't wearing your glasses. LOL

Reminds me of my own celeb tale, with Felix Cavaliere. One of his kids was in our son's class at Kindergarten or 1st grade, they had an end-of-year pool party at Felix's house. Our son left his beach towel there, told the hubby I had to call over to Felix Cavaliere's house (and I pronounced it wrong-LOL). DH freaked. I'm like, 'what's the big deal?' He explained. Oh duh. I knew the band, but not the members'names. LOL

Pardon for butting in, Airbeth, but I do want to read this recap and listen to the clip.

My only story about Aerosmith is how my teen-age kids kidded me for always pronouncing the name of the group as Arrow-Smith. Truth is, I couldn't tell any difference in the way I pronounced it and how they pronounced it.
Anita from Refugio

Recap is up.

Geez, Vivi, your story is hilarious! :DDD

And I envy Diana, too.

Aribeth- Great recap! Thank you!

Ana Martin must be the most employed actress in TelevisaLand. She is in almost everything, even if it's a small part. She is one of my favorites.

This is the third time Guzmáncito has jumped into a swimming pool with his clothes on. I think we need to keep a tally on this. Let's hope he has a clothing allowance from Vikki.

JA and Vik were too close for my comfort in that last scene/screencap. I do not want them to do anything, especially JA, until he no longer has a wife.

Aribeth - Thanks a bunch. Love the way you zipped through it all.

I'm still wondering why all of a sudden after 38 years Candelaria sent the letter.

JA blowing air in Vicki's mouth as she was passed out on the elevator floor was a hoot. I give him points for not touching her lips.

Thanks for the recap Aribeth. Loved it.

Who is this over-botoxed, aging witch named Odette? God she's creepamonte.

Love Ana Martin in every role. I'm totally hooked on this novela, but Beatriz's scumbag husband needs to leave the planet.

Fabulous recap and pics Aribeth. Love your sense of humor. We'll see tonight if Vicky and JA avoid temptation.

Aribeth, wonderful recap. Loved the screencaps and the title :).

Vivi and Diana- Loved both your Aerosmith stories, lucky ducks!

So now we know that Odette has a past with Anibal, he must have been some galan back in the day! Won't he freak if he ever finds out where Candelaria is?

Hate Leo too, I wish he would drop off the face of the earth, here's hoping.

Nikki is really bratty, but liked how Lili held her own. Loved that. The coach is clearly on Lili's side, lol.

Paula is gonna be trouble, I can see it coming. I really don't think Anibal is that into her. Just for the bennies and that's it. Or else he would have married her already.

Kendra is soooo over the top and Nelson is a dumbass as Aribeth said. He is dumb as a box of rocks and Kendra will lure him into her web, she is just the type, but how will Dances with Sunglasses handle that?

Wooo Wee that elevator scene at the end. I too don't want Angel to cross the line until something happens with his wife. I'd rather he be single or divorced before anything happens. Same with Vikki, I think she would be riddled with guilt if something happened between them now. Niece in MD I liked the way he blew air into her mouth too. lol.
