Amor Bravío #93 (Uni 88) Thu 12/27/12 Amor Recuperado
Captain OnlyCopInThisTown Apologizes for coming to the funeral, but he needs Camila to come identify the body of the man who kidnapped her. The wheels of justice can't stop rolling, you know. Vivi offers to go with her. Well, that'll be convenient.
Francisco tells Agustina at least they've still got each other. Agustina says it's more like there's nothing keeping them together anymore, so he can just take a hike! "Try to mend fences with Daniel if you want to, but you're dead to me."
Isadora still can't get in to see Alonso. She begs the doctor for info. The news is not good. "Will he die?" How she restrains herself from jumping up and down is beyond me.
Aaron is packing to go move in at Amanda's. He wants Rafa and Vivi to have some alone time. Rafa doesn't think it's fair for him to go back to the hostel. Well, hey, man, maybe Aaron just doesn't want to be witness to your inept attempts at seduction. Or he figures things will go really well and he doesn't want to have to listen to the hot monkey lovin' every night. Aaron says Vivi will probably be happy he's gone.
The bad news is Alonso is quadriplegic, but his brain's doing ok and he should recover any minute now. Yes, Isadora, he'll be able to rat you out. She begs the doctor to let her in, but only the cops can give permission for that. "Talk to Captain Juarez and get permission from him." Isadora glares at Alonso.
In the morgue, Vivi instantly recognizes Bruno and Camila then realizes she recognized his voice. Cam comforts Vivi.
Isadora thought bubbles that she's gotta kill Alonso before he regains consciousness. When the nurse who's taken a liking to him leaves the room, Isadora gets a speculative look.
Camila tells the cop that Bruno was her sister's friend. Vivi adds that he's her ex-husband. Daniel says his name was Bruno. The cop says they found calls between Bruno's and Ximena's cell phones and also between Bruno's cell and the ranch. Also calls from Ximena to Alonso. Camila is convinced that Ximena and Alonso planned the kidnapping. Vivi figures Bruno helped them for a few bucks. Daniel asks about calls to or from Dionisio's cell, but the cop didn't find any.
Agustina goes into Ximena and Alonso's room. She collects some of Ximena's things and remembers Ximena telling her it's too late to try to impose rules on her and throwing it in her face that she went chasing after Don Daniel.
Vivi's still shocked to see someone she once loved lying there dead. Camila says it's the same with her and Ximena. She'll never know why Ximena hated her so much. They all agree that the current evidence points to Alonso, Ximena, and Bruno and they have no proof of Dionisio's and Isadora's involvement. They're all worried about how vulnerable Agustina is, since she refuses to believe anything negative about Dionisio.
More Ximena flashbacks and recriminations and guilt for Agustina.
Dionisio's getting cabin fever, but the doctor won't release him yet. Dio declares that he's leaving no matter what. He doesn't care what he has to sign, he wants out, NOW!
Isadora sees Alonso's nurse in the cafeteria and introduces herself as Alonso's mother. The nurse lost a child herself. A boy who was taken from her when he was just a baby. And oh, look, her name is Rosario. La llamada de la sangre strikes again…DRINK! Isadora says she's noticed how devoted Rosario is to Alonso and she asks her for a favor…a huge favor…Rosario says she can't sneak her in to see him, if that's what she's after. "This is something else. An act of great love, which will of course come with monetary compensation. I don’t want him to go to jail or to live in this condition…it's not for me, but for him! Years ago we made each other a promise. We swore that if either one of is was in this situation, we'd act--even if it was against the law--to euthanize the other. I need to carry out that promise! But they won't let me in. I'm begging you to help me honor that promise! Tell me, as a mother, what you would do in my place." "Are you asking me to kill your son?" "Yes. I want my son to stop suffering. And only you can do it. Alonso needs to die. My son no longer has a future. He has nothing to fight for. I just want what's best for him." Ooh, too bad, Isa. Rosario doesn't think anyone can give or take life except God. She thinks maybe Alonso can find a new meaning in his life. Isadora says what happened was a suicide attempt, so it's obvious he doesn't want to live. Rosario is shocked to hear it wasn't an accident. "My son committed fraud. He doesn't want to go to prison. That's why he tried to kill himself, but he couldn't. Imaging what it will do to him to be trapped in his body and in jail on top of that!" Rosario needs to go back to work. Isadora begs her to consider it and not tell anyone what they've talked about. "If you don't accept, I understand, but please don't tell anyone what we talked about! I promise my son will be eternally grateful if you help me."
Natalia has found no evidence whatsoever. She did find guns, though. She doesn't tell Yago about the guns. She's trying to take advantage of Dionisio's absence while she can. And then she's got her driving lessons with Omar, so she doesn't know when she can see Yago. Yago begs her to put off the driving lesson for a day and Natalia relents.
Ileana finds Rodolfo. She still wants to continue on their plot, but things have been a little busy for the actual humans on this show. What with the mourning and the burying and whatnot. Oh, fine, I suppose the sub-humans have also been busy plotting and scheming. How insensitive of me to overlook that. Ileana suggests they go for a date that night, but Rodolfo doesn't think it's a good idea to be out having a good time while his bosses are mourning. "Life goes on, baby! Come on, you wouldn't want to leave me waiting for you in town, would you?" Eluterio sees them smooching…or, well, Ileana smooching on Rodolfo. Eluterio thinks Rodolfo must be made of rock, ignoring the advances of a hot little chippy like Ileana.
In town, Nana has found out nothing about Isadora whatsoever. She doesn't hang out with anyone in town. She was a young widow and she dedicated her life to her son. They say she's always lived well and she had a house in Metepec until it burned down. She seems to be a society lady. Snotty Bitch wants more info. Who is she? Where did she come from? "Everyone has a past!"
Vivi comes back from the morgue and reports to Aaron and Rafa that it turned out to be Bruno who had kidnapped Camila. And now he's dead. Vivi bursts into tears and is comforted by both brothers. Rafa goes to make tea. Vivi explains that she didn't love him anymore, but they were married! They were going to have a kid! And then he turned out to be the guy who hurt her most in the world! Aaron says she's upset because she's a nice person. Rafael says now Vivi can finally live in peace, that Bruno will never bother her again. Vivi weeps while she sips the tea Rafa made and holds Aaron's hand. I ponder the possibility of polyandry. Anybody else who's already had that thought, don't leave me hanging…DRINK!
Padre Anselmo finally meets Roman and Ana. Pablo brings them over to the church. He explains that Mariano had to go to Zacatecas and he asked Pablo to bring Roman over. Anselmo explains to Roman that he understands his reluctance to be there, his fears that he'll be mistreated and won't be adopted. Padre Anselmo gives his word they'll do their best to make it a real home. Roman will believe it when he sees it. "Like Thomas!" Ana says she knows all about the saints, so she'll fill Roman in. Padre Anselmo asks Tolentino to give the kids a tour of the orphanage while he talks to Pablo. Pablo says Ruth isn't doing very well and the hospital probably wouldn't have let Ana in anyway, so Mariano didn't want to take her with him. Pablo asks if he can leave Ana for a little while. He wants to be with Luzma when Leoncio gets sentenced.
Camila and Daniel go back to the cabin. Camila just wants to be held. They joke about Daniel stepping on Maja the other day (Yes you did/No I didn't). Daniel can understand Agustina's pain since he's also lost a child. Daniel thinks she should spend more time with Agustina. "You're the sweetest man in the world." "You're the prettiest girl in the universe." Camila goes to check on Agustina and leaves Daniel to hang out with Maja.
Tolentino shows pessimistic Roman the dorm room where the other kids are staying. Roman doesn't think anyone will adopt him. Tolentino tells them that when he was Roman's age, Padre Baldy found a family to adopt him. He assures Roman that he got some high-quality parents. And besides, as Padre Baldy once told him, "When they adopt you, you choose your parents and you do it with your heart." Ana and Roman high-five to Roman getting parents.
Osvaldo tells Daniel that having Alonso sign La Malquerida back over to Camila will be a little complicated, but not impossible. Alonso can give a verbal agreement in front of witnesses, or he can put his fingerprint on the document Osvaldo has already prepared. The bigger obstacle is that he's being guarded and no one can get in to see him. Osvaldo wonders if Captain Juarez might agree to both let them in and to serve as one of the witnesses. Daniel would really like for La Malquerida to stop being a source of conflict already.
Camila goes into Ximena and Alonso's room to find her mother packing a suitcase. Well, sitting on the bed with a suitcase out, anyway. Agustina cries, wondering what she did wrong, what's going to become of her now. Camila tells her not to blame herself. "I shouldn't have left her alone in Monterrey for so long." Camila says at some point we all grow up and learn what's right and wrong, and Ximena decided that was how she wanted to live. "We have to let her go." Agustina wishes she at least had the consolation of knowing that Ximena was happy, that she got along with her sister, but she doesn't even have that. Camila says they didn't get along, but they loved each other and Ximena did lots of fun stuff. Dorotea comes in to tell them Captain Juarez is downstairs to talk to Agustina and Camila about Ximena. Agustina can't handle it, but once she hears that Francisco is down there talking to the Captain, she gets upset, saying "that man" has nothing to say in this and storms downstairs to tell him so!
Francisco is demanding that someone be held responsible for killing his daughter. The cop says that's not what he's there about. Agustina tells him he should have been worried about "justice" when he left her to raise Ximena all by herself! The captain tells them he was just informed about something. Ximena had an arrest warrant out for her for theft and fraud. Agustina collapses at this news. Camila asks if he's sure. The captain says the came looking for her, but they didn't talk to her. When they got the report of her death, they sent him the info. Francisco asks if this was a few months ago. "Yes, and since then they've been looking for her all over the country." Camila realizes that's why she showed up all of the sudden. "Did you suspect she was up to something?" Camila admits Ximena stole a check from her, but she didn't think this was some kind of ongoing problem. Francisco tells her to quit staining his daughter's memory. Captain Juarez interrupts and says Ximena did that herself. Agustina feels like they're talking about a stranger. "She was a thief!" Agustina blames Francisco's bad genes. Juarez says he didn't tell them this in order to upset them, he just wanted them to know because the Nuevo Leon authorities are going to request Ximena's death certificate to add to their records of the investigation. Camila asks him to please take care of it so that Agustina doesn't have to face that humiliation. He agrees and apologizes for having to bring this up just now. Francisco sits down heavily with his drink while Camila tries to comfort Agustina.
Daniel sees Dionisio arriving and taunts him. "You can try to convince everyone you're a hero, but you're not fooling me. I'll have proof soon." Dionisio advises him not to waste his time because he'll never find proof. "There isn't any." Daniel says he'll screw up eventually. "Then hold your breath. I don't make mistakes." Daniel says leaving his dirty work to his men was a pretty big mistake. "It almost cost you your life. Didn't you know Bruno was the one who kidnapped Camila?" He takes that so calmly that Daniel doesn't believe him. "I'm going to get La Malquerida back for Camila, my future wife. We're getting married, so I want you far away from her." "And what if you can't get La Malquerida back?" "Then we'll go away. Somewhere far from here where you can't see her. Let's get one thing clear--if La Malquerida can't be Camila's, it won't be yours either." Daniel walks away, leaving Dionisio to smirk.
Rosario tucks her baby boy in and asks him if it's really what he wants, or if it's just what that woman says who claims to be his mother. "It's obvious she didn't recognize me. I could never forget the woman for whom Eleazar took you from me when you were a baby! I believe in God now more than ever, because I begged him to let me see you just once and here you are. Alonso, my son!"
Tomorrow: Isadora is determined to kill Alonso, but Rosario won't agree; Alonso wakes up enough to ask to speak to Camila

Though I wasn't a fan of Xi, it is horrible seeing all these negative memories her family has of her (except her deluded dad). It's a bad version the Christmas Carol but she died before she could change her life.
Glad that Vivi knows Bruno will NEVER bother her again. She can move onto which ever brother she chooses but Kat's polyandry option is there too ;)
And Gussy going through it. I don't think she will ever believe Dio is evil now. She'll have to catch him in the act and even then will probably deny it.
CdlF also played in "Out of Sight" on USA. I liked his character there but really like him here. It's similar to my ignoring William Levy is "Pasion" - I never got over the bad wig but believing he was the cat's meow in Cuidado (though that TN had some ridiculous plot turns).
“Well, hey, man, maybe Aaron just doesn't want to be witness to your inept attempts at seduction. Or he figures things will go really well and he doesn't want to have to listen to the hot monkey lovin' every night.”
LOL!
“Agustina goes into Ximena and Alonso's room. She collects some of Ximena's things.”
I thought those were panties she was sniffing. I know. How icky is that? Still, I do feel for her; her grief seems real. And god knows I have a few family members that I won’t be able to think many nice thoughts about when they die.
"If you don't accept, I understand, but please don't tell anyone what we talked about! I promise my son will be eternally grateful if you help me."
And here I am hoping with all my might that she tells someone, especially the police.
“Vivi weeps while she sips the tea Rafa made and holds Aaron's hand. I ponder the possibility of polyandry. Anybody else who's already had that thought, don't leave me hanging…DRINK!”
LOL!
“Daniel would really like for La Malquerida to stop being a source of conflict already.”
Word. Wouldn’t we all.
“Francisco sits down heavily with his drink while Camila tries to comfort Agustina.”
Isn’t it about time that FX was shown la puerta, ifyouknowwhatImean?
And Aaron doesn't want to see Rafa's inept attempt at seduction, haha. He is quite awkward, isn't he?
But I'll be back later for more comment.
Thanks to our holiday recappers. I haven't been able to comment -- been on the road and watching on-line here and there.
I had to laugh that Roccio wants her research on Isadora at the market. So much for the computer age. Maybe the market info is finally better than Google!
Iago is proving to be a more complex character than it seemed initially but surely Rodolfo and Natalia are meant to be together.
Given twists and turns in this novela, I'm keeping my mind open on how all will be resolved. It seems like Vivi and Rafa are also meant to be together; on the other hand, I can see her with Mariano and the children (who wouldn't want to have a fun mother like Vivi?) with Teresa's fate unknown.
I have long liked Vivi's relationship with Agustina. Even when Agustina expresses her frustration with Daniel and the Scoobies, Vivi is there for her and Agustina seems to turn to her.
FX does seem to be feeling some type of remorse, in his own way. But he also seems to be trying really hard to drown those feelings in booze. I felt for Cami having to deal with both him and Gussy as Juarez told them about Xi's crimes in Monterey. But I'm glad they all know about that now.
It's cool to see Dan in full manly kick-ass mode, now that he's no longer Andres Duarte- Chofer and Employee, but instead, Daniel Diaz Acosta- Justice Seeker, and Camila's Man (much to the annoyance of Gussy and Dio).
Just for the fun of it, I would like to see a glimpse of stoic hitman Omar, giving princess Natalia a driving lesson. I bet Omar is just thrilled with this aspect of his job these days.
I totally agree with Carolina about Francisco; someone needs to kick him out on his tuchas.
But not before he blabs about Hissadora and El Diablo.
El Diablo is at least the third Cesar Evora villain who has inappropriate sexual intent toward a stepdaughter. I wonder whether that creeps him out. However, since El Diablo's first encounter was with the adult Camila, this time it makes more sense.
Rocio probably is unaware of the existence of the internet.
As I remember the flashback about Hissadora being informed that she is officially Alonssso's mother, she had no contact with the birth mother. If she recognized Rosario or was aware that Rosario recognized her we would see the wheels turning.
Seems to me Olivia Bucio (Agustina) played a wimpy wife married to a disreputable blowhard, also named Franciso, once before in Alborada. She does the hand-wringing head shake very well. But I like her better here.
This show is so good on so many levels (for a TN); all the minor characters seem to have plot developments of their own.
Can't wait for Alonso to come to. I hope he can reconcile with his real mother and spill a few frijoles along the way. I see a modicum of redemption for him.
Does Xi has one brown eye and one green eye?
cathyx- I loved your Dallas comment a few eps back. Here's your daily trivia question: Do you remember Who Killed JR? And, did you watch the first season of the new Dallas?
Off to a funeral (Xi's).
Just was able to watch the key episodes. A lot has happened in a week. Skipped over the abuse of Camila by Bruno. I just can't take too much of that stuff. So glad he's gone.
I know I'm probably alone in this, but I feel bad that Ximena is gone. Yes, she was opportunistic, greedy, and stupid when she needed to be smart, but I guess it's because the actress for me had some dimension and I found her funny at times. Perhaps, she could have changed, but she's gone too soon for me. I will be watching "Quien eres tu" just to see the actress again.
Loved the comment about the inept seductions of Rafa! ita.
Happy holidays to everyone!
We know that Isa didn't recognize Rosario. But Rosario knows that Alonso has the last name of his father, and so does Isadora. So if she didn't know what happened to Alonso after he was taken from her and she was fired, she can figure it out. Was Isa's plea to kill Alonso convincing? Never to me, but I would hope never to anyone. I can't imagine anyone doing something like that, but especially a nurse. I hope Rosario tells Al that his mother wants Rosario to end his life. But I can't see anyone believing Al when he tries to tell him his innocence. They all believe his guilt and there is a lot of evidence that points toward him.
Was it his brother-in-law? Forget his name, shorter man with thinning hair, and I think he had another oil business.
Sheesh! I had to go through at least 20 codes and numbers before I could find one I could read. I am not a robot!
Rosemary: I watched most of the new Dallas but I missed the final episodes. I do know about Rebecca though via my brother. I'm not sure they can go on without JR. John Ross is a pale imitation of his father.
“Well, hey, man, maybe Aaron just doesn't want to be witness to your inept attempts at seduction.”
"I ponder the possibility of polyandry..."
Why would Hissadora think a nurse whom she just meant would be willing to kill Al for a price? She always thinks the help can be bought.
So Al is now quadriplegic. When his mom last saw him he was a helpless baby and now she sees him again after all these years and he’s a profoundly physically disabled man.
Yep, Francisco needs to tell Dan all he knows before he exits. It's the least he can do after a lifetime of nothing. Maybe redemption is in his future, if he puts down the bottle.
My favorite line came when Isa found out that Alonso was in grave condition. “How she restrains herself from jumping up and down is beyond me”. Ha!
Am I missing something? I thought the whole purpose of Mariano’s trip was so that Ruth could see Ana before she died. It so, why did Mariano leave her with Pablo and go to see Ruth alone? Also, any clues as to why this emergency came up just as Mariano was preparing to attend Xi’s wake? Was it merely a way for the priest to get to meet Roman?

As to Hissadora thinking that anyone can be bought, that's natural; she was sold by her own family back in the day. She's also not very bright when she becomes desperate: She didn't need to offer Leoncerdo 3 million pesos to off Padre Baldomero; 1 million would have been more than enough.
I smiled at Aaron’s funeral shirt. One of his trademark short sleeved shirts—in black.
Seems out of character for Isa to trust a complete stranger not to tell the police that they were asked to off her son.
I wondered at Nat searching Dio’s office. Like he’s going to leave incriminating documents just lying around especially when he has an assistant.
When I saw Tolentino standing next to the Padre, it just popped into my head for a split second---future priest.
I think that cop has the world’s worst timing.
Liked that Dan wiped the smile off of Dio’s face—at least for a moment.
If the end of the ep with Rosario telling Al she’s his mama was supposed to be a big reveal, it wasn’t done very well. We all pretty much guessed it when she first appeared.
Al’s a quad. This is not going to be good for me. That’s one of my biggest fears. Bad enough the TN takes place on a bull fighting ranch then add the quad thing. Poor Al. Don’t think he deserved that. Good thing is real mama is a nurse.
Vivi: “Just for the fun of it, I would like to see a glimpse of stoic hitman Omar, giving princess Natalia a driving lesson. I bet Omar is just thrilled with this aspect of his job these days.”--- I’d love to see that, too.
Also: “Even though she is annoyed at them, Gussy has gained a whole troop of protective "children" with Camila's friends.”—good observation and she’s going to need them when the fraud anvil hits her on the head, as well as the Dio’s a skunk anvil.
Vivi: I thought LC’s new one was on Telefutura at 10:00, but it didn’t show up on my schedule. Flaco reminded me that I’ve had that problem before where it shows up a few days before the premiere (That’s how I missed the first nine eps of CME. I had checked for it two weeks before and didn’t think I needed to check again for two weeks).
UA: “As to Hissadora thinking that anyone can be bought, that's natural; she was sold by her own family back in the day.”---so very true.

Now here is the question and Karen you can chime in too : why did they not bring that up at all in the new Dallas that Christopher is really JR's biological son? Are they letting that part of the plot drop or will it be addressed in an upcoming season?
Remember what a homely little baby Christopher was? and wow look at him now! I remember when Bobby brought Baby Christopher home and Pam mistakenly thought Bobby had somehow adopted him. The look on Pam's face and then the look on Bobby's face. Lol
Now back to AB : my mom fell and broke her hip recently and has been in and out of the hospital and never once was a nurse able to sit there and doze. It's a miracle if they come in within15 minutes of pushing the call light.
They made a big deal out of Christopher and John Ross being rivals for Elena but, to me, they emphasized that they were cousins. I found this odd since longtime Dallas watchers knew otherwise. Both JR and Bobby know the truth and I wonder if this will be brought into play this season. I read that they are incorporating Larry Hagman's death into the show so maybe Christopher will find out as a result of that.
As for AB: This is quite simply one of the best TNs I have ever seen and I've been watching them, off and on, since the late 80s, when Univisión was known as the Spanish International Network (SIN). A lot of people like to diss Televisa novelas as "novelas de cenicienta" (Cinderella novelas) and though many of them are, there are a few gems like Amor Bravío. I'm so glad I decided to watch this after LQNPA. It may not have the great Jorge Salinas but the plot is soooo much better.
Most of the lines I loved have already been noted--over and over (though I really liked the polyandry one). You do have a way with words. I have a feeling you also have a way with chocolates and acting! Buena Suerte en 2013.
NOTE: Just a reminder. Monday night Uni swept all the tns away for a party-hearty evening to bring in the New Year. For some reason I thought Bravio was going to be moved up to 9 (aGAin), but not this time.
Al's condition is dire. But, as we saw in Refugio, you can be a quad and still function at high levels--if you had the intelligence and inner drive that Patricio did. Sadly, Alonssoslow is just that, so any slower or lower he's a vegetable with eyes and a mouth. I wonder if Rosario has the strength to give him the will to live and slowly bring him back. In the avances we see him asking for Camila, so he doesn't have amnesia.
I agree, even if Dio never wins Camila (and he doesn't yet doubt his prowess), the only way he'll be able to get or stay near her is to get Dan out of the way. Our black shirted galan now has a target on his back.
Interesting backstory about the disappearance of Mariano from the screen. I bought the whole sudden Ruth is very sick story. I figured that after his revelation to Camila, any meeting between him and Cam would be very awkward, so they used Ruth to have a reason for him to be absent from the post-kidnapping and funeral. Well written. Better than Jorge's illness. They tried, but it threw a lot the natural progression of the story out of whack for some time.
Karen--was Out of Sight a series or a made for tv movie for the USA network or what? I'm intrigued. I saw WL in Sortilegio before I saw him in Pasion. It's a wonder Carla Estrada took a chance on him again--she must have seen something in him that we missed on screen. It's too bad he and Daniela Romo have accepted another Mejia-Meh (TdA) production for next year.
Most of what I would have said about the episode has already been said, plus lots of insightful and fascinating comments I wouldn't have known enough to make. However, I'd like to respond to cathyx's question about whether Isa's plea to Rosario to kill Alonso was convincing. Perhaps I'm the only one, but I definitely thought/feared that it WAS convincing. Perhaps if the likelihood of his going to jail wasn't in the equation, it might not be convincing, but the jail term on top of his being a paraplegic really left very little possibility of a tolerable life. I could imagine someone who genuinely loved Alonso making such a plea (not that Hissadora is such a person!), and so I feared that Rosario might indeed be moved to do what Hissadora asked. And I could also imagine a schlocky TN in which Rosario DOES kill Alonso and only afterward learns that he was her son. Fortunately, Amor Bravío is not such a TN.
I see in my listings that there is no Monday episode so I get the day off... if this changes would someone post that later so I can look it up when I get home? It'll help me plan the weekend.
I agree with all that this tn is top notch. Relating back to earlier comments, I am thinking the Wed, Thurs, Fri airings of Dynasty, Knots Landing and Dallas was just a warm up to La Vida de Caray 5 nights/week.
The one thing we have conveniently forgotten in our preoccupation for Alonso's well-being, Isa aside, is his marital status.
Didn't he and Camila get married in a church ceremony? He will need to be in el otro mundo if, in true tn fashion we are to get another church wedding with Camila in white and Daniel in charro.
OTOH, this is a most unconventional tn and the fact that Al & Cam are civilly divorced will probably be enough for Cam 'n Dan to take civil vows (they've already been sleeping together for several weeks) to make things legal--and perhaps for the Malquerida to stay in the family.
Only Gussy wouldn't be happy with that arrangement.
We also have to wonder about what Daniel's position is because we can't be sure that Miriam is dead.
My catechism classes were a loooooonnng time ago and I am on even shakier ground with Dan and Miriam. But they had a Jewish wedding, and I think the rule is that if you marry outside the Church, you may be eligible for divorce (or annulment) and remarriage within the Church. So even if Miriam is alive, Dan could marry Camila in a pretty church wedding and make everyone in viewerville happy.
Just to be clear, the Church distinguishes between unconsummated weddings and non-Catholic weddings, but I couldn't tell you exactly how. My understanding is that the Church doesn't care if a non-Catholic marriage ends in divorce because the people involved are not Catholic. That's some other church's problem. You still are supposed to honor your wedding vows, but the status of marriage and divorce isn't recognized in the same way if the wedding wasn't in the church. What you can't do is marry in the Church, get divorced, and then marry a second time in the Church.
I noticed all of this stuff when it was going on - why did they make Miriam Jewish? - why did everyone and his brother know about poor Al's performance problems in bed? - because I thought it plus the Catholic rule book would come into play when Cam-n-Dan got together.
UA--If Daniel has his way, that ring is going to be on Camila's finger asap. He's still convinced that Miriam is dead and that is all that matters to him. Only Teresa's investigation will come up with the answer--for better or for worse.
I'm still watching and reading the recaps and comments although usually a day or so behind. Thanks to all the recappers and commenters. I'm sorry that I've not been able to be a more regular and timely participant.
Vivi and Nanette, the bad girls in this have not managed to capture my affection and support as others in previous TNs have. And that is with Isadora being possibly the most gorgeous bad girl ever.
Unfortunately, for me, she is simply not convincingly passionate or sensuous. She is cold and calculating (which I generally like very much), she is reptilian (also not a bad trait), but her seduction efforts simply don't appeal to me. She approaches kissing like a dog goes after Alpo. I also find her degree of brutality off-putting overkill. I did think the kiss she blew at the flaming SUV was an endearing touch, however.
She is a beautiful and very funny villainess but the character Issadora just isn't my cup of bad.
As for Ximena... beautiful but pitiful. I hated to see her go... one of the cutest butts ever...
Ileana is very pretty but sad and pitiable.
My favorite characters have been Alonso and (God help me) Leoncio. Alonso is a cuddly bundle of neuroses and Leoncio is pure evil with a sense of humor.
Carlos
I'd like to know why, now that Cam is out of the hospital, she's not wearing her engagement necklace. Could it be that Dan, doesn't want to risk giving his good luck charm back to Cam because it worked soooo welll the last time?
I was stunned when it turned out that he raped Luzma. Heck, I even tried to build a case for pinning the rape on on that nitwit, Yago. But I couldn't help but laugh when he said in a sort of prayer that he felt bad about the padre's death then choked back a snicker, looked skyward and said something like, "Hah, I don't even believe that myself." Now that's unrepentant evil.
He played a bad guy in Pasión, who bit by bit lost body parts and extremities and ended up being beheaded. I wonder if being detongued was a nod toward his success at making us hate him as LaFont.

Perhaps Dan will give Camila an actual ring this time. I think the two of them are determined to get married, no matter what-- Church wedding or no. Al still being alive complicates a Chruch wedding, unless Cami goes through with the annulment process. And a civil wedding would be made invalid if Miriam is indeed still alive (as many of us suspect). Either way, the way is not totally clear for our love birds, as much as they would like to believe so.
I liked them as a couple and I think there was real potential there. But once again, neither one of them could see beyond their personal needs and were incapable of really being there for the other when they needed it. Both were selfish. What is sad to me is the wasted potential.
If Miriam returns (and I think she will too), that kind of squashes Camila's theory that she and Dan are predestined to be together because they both lost their spouses.
And I'm wondering how much time has elasped in TN time. Would Miriam still be pregnant or have had the baby by now? Since the writers have been planting seeds for future events (like Al's mom appearing), they must have put her pregnancy in the plot for a reason. Poor Camila!
And since you've brought up Ximena's outfits: Is there a change of season in Mexico? I don't think I've seen any winter clothes. Camila's wedding maybe? (I've been thinking about that because I made some sauce today with blackberries from Mexico, and here in Florida, blackberries don't come out until May.)
Happy new year to all!
Aleta
