Amores Verdaderos - 12-18-12 Cap 28—Jealousy, lipstick, and really tasty cheese
Another phoning it in. More phoning in than usual. I did do a recording of the episode and have some screen caps planned. Let me do a really brief overview just to have something up. Hopefully will fill out the details later. I half-watched this as it was airing. Too much to do these days in real life!

Edit: Some screen caps are added. They are okay, but not up to my usual "quality" *cough* because I couldn't get just the right frame (the software I used didn't allow me to go frame-by-frame like Quicktime can). Will try to add a few more later.
* Guzmancito tries to explain to Nikki that he didn't rat her out to Lily over her bulimia. He'd just been saying that "someone close to him" had it. Nikki gives him lip. Denies she's sick. He then says, fine, he'll have to go to her parents since she's not going to seek help herself. She tries to suck up to him. He coldly informs her that he works for her but they'll never be friends. She looks sad about this.
* Big Angel is showing his bandages from the tree accident and telling the kitchen staff (and I think Guzmancito) about everything, and how amazing Vicki was when she got help for him.
* Vicki finds Kendra's lipstick smeared on Nelson's shirt, and smells Kendra's perfume. Commence a big screaming scene in front of everyone as she confronts an impactado Nelson, whose watery eyes widen in deer-in-the-headlights shock. Salsero aka Dancing with Sunglasses at first seems to affirm that Nelson was with Kendra by saying that it is her lipstick and perfume on the shirt. He thoughtbubbles that this is his big chance to destroy Nelson. But then apparently he changes his mind and covers for Nelson, and admits with subservient, puppydog eyes that he "borrowed" Nelson's shirt in hopes of impressing Kendra, and it worked! Nelson "forgives" Salsero while Vicki looks stupid and feels like a shrew for accusing her faithful hubby. *cough*
* Later, Big Angel takes Salsero aside and with knowing, cynical looks, comments that Salsero saved Nelson this time, but maybe not forever. Salsero replies that it's none of his business.
* Beatriz's abusive husband calls up and they have a tearful conversation. Hubby tries to sweet talk Beatriz into returning. Says he missed her, says he regrets raising his hand to her. Beatriz is not going for this. She hangs up on him suddenly, because she is too upset. When she hangs up, hubby's contrite, tearful attitude immediately turns to violent rage and he vows that he'll make her pay dearly.
* Paula and Felipe (Gambling Guzman Dad) stage an "intervention" for Beatriz, whom they believe has bulimia. Beatriz looks impactado and says "Look, with all the crap going on in my life, do I strike you as someone who gives a damn about if I have a few extra kilos?" (Only she says it more elegantly than that.) She seems pretty adamant. Felipe gives Paula the stink eye and asks her how come she was so certain that Beatriz has a problem. Paula balks because she got it from Christina, her neighbor aka Anibal's secret love child. Paula blurts out that she "dreamt" it. Everyone scoffs.
* There's something with Anibal and his friend (the guy who is a godfather for Vicki's sister, whose name will return to me eventually). The friend questions how Anibal handled his younger daughter, but Anibal says he did what was best for the family and for her, and he has no regrets! Douchebag. Just saying.
* In the kitchen, Jean Marie, Salsero, Big Angel and I think Guzmancito are enjoying Jean Marie's cooking. He brings out this block of cheese out of the fridge and effusively kisses it. (He's simply adorable. I'm just saying.) He explains that his brand of cheese has an advertising account with Vicki's competitor Odele and because of that the cheese is banned from the house. But it's so tasty and fabulous, so Jean Marie has a forbidden block of it in the fridge. They all must keep silent about enjoying the Forbidden Cheese! They all nibble on it appreciatively.
* Odette is plotting and planning with Kendra on how to bring down Vicki's company. Later on, there is some anguish at Vicki's company because Kendra didn't show up for work (??? I looked away during this part of the episode) and they are screwed if they can't get her to be more responsible, because a big account they have has Kendra as the spokesperson. Without Kendra, they lose the account.
* Nicki goes to the swimming pool. Guzmancito is saying if she feels dizzy or anything to watch for that (yadda yadda). She blows his advice off completely. Her designer stubble pal Vlad comes up to greet her. She makes a big show of draping herself all over him in view of a jealous and stoic Guzmancito. She talks about her "hot night in her bedroom" with Vlad. Vlad scoffs and says, "If you call listening to music hot!" LOL. Later Lily shows up for a swim and is seen chatting animatedly with Vlad. This will not do! Nicki interrupts them, tries to humiliate Lily in front of Vlad (I don't think Vlad was buying it) and then challenges Lily to a swim challenge. During the swim, Guzmacito strolls on the side of the pool, following both girls as they swim. Lily is ahead, so Nikki grabs her feet as they swim. Lily cries fowl to this, but no one sees. (I don't know if Guzmancito sees either, though he does tell Lily to just keep on swimming!)
* Big Angel has escorted Vicki to work (as is his job). She talks about the big scene with her husband regarding the lipstick on the collar. Big Angel does his best to downplay the embarrassment, saying that all couples squabble. Vicki gets a call from her secretary, saying that Christina has come to visit. *Gulp* She sends Big Angel off to use the copy machine to get him out of the way. He's a bit puzzled, but he goes. Then Christina comes in to visit. She apologizes for the big jealous scene she made before. Vicki is gracious and says that Christina is very good to say it. She then says that all this jealousy caused trouble with her husband, who doubted her for the first time in 20 years. Christina looks really sad and guilty about that.
* Because Nikki cheated in the swim race, she "wins." She acts all triumphant and congratulates herself, and snarks smugly to Lily about it. Lily is getting super pissed because it's all based on Nikki cheating. Lily does that little arm-twist thing that brings Nikki to her knees. She's FED UP. She lets Nikki go (after some peevish "sueltames!" from Nikki) but Nikki tries to grab Lily's arm to give her more crap. Lily swipes her away with her arm (it looked to me) and Nikki flat-out passes out, as if the hit from Lily was enough to do that (which I doubt). IMPACATDO Guzmancito and Lily look at Nikki's unconscious body laying at the side of the pool.

Elvira- wonderful recap. Adriana is Anibal's other daughter. I remember her name cause I recap Por Ella every other Friday and the guy that owns that company is Adriano. The names are so similar :)
Loved the Jean Marie, he is adorable, Polita, Guzmancito and Angel scenes. Loved those. They are all so good together.
Loved how the Angel told Salsero he is so on to him and Nelson. Salsero looks a little intimadated by him, lol.
I was really hoping Nell-son would be caught, but nah didn't happen. I was really thinking Salsero would out him, but took the blame himself. Can't wait for Salsero to start the blackmail with Nell-son which is just in his character.
The only part you missed is that not only is Kendho on Odette's payroll, but Lucinda the main secretary is on Odette's payroll too. Did not see that coming. How many spies does Odette have at Meta Imagen anyways?

Elvira, the title was perfect. Could EY look any handsomer in the screen shots you chose? I hardly think so.
Your recap was simply great. "Feigning contrition, Salsa-dude covers Nelson's behind with a lie" and "whose watery eyes widen in deer-in-the-headlights shock" were among my favorites. You knocked it out of the park.
I also loved the cheese snacking scene. My favorite moment was when Angel took a piece of cheese and without looking, handed it back to Polita who delicately nibbled it. I wondered if that was scripted or spontaneous, in either event it was adorable.
Flowing salsa steps on the dance floor aren't Salsero's only smooth moves. Have to credit him with quick thinking to get Nelson out of being caught red lipstick handed. Ack. Of course, Angel didn't believe it for a minute.
At least Paula took steps to help Bea, even if it was a false alarm. She does have some heart.
I laughed at Angel's copy machine assignment. I am sure he had never copied anything in his life and seemed shocked he was given this task...

Thanks Elvira. Christina shows no faith at all in her man. What is her problem.? He is faithful and true yet she still doubts him. That's a sure way of driving him into Vickie's arms. The woman is completely mental. Paula.'s concern for her daughter is a bit late.l don't think she would have looked them up if Anibal had married her. Even now she can't acknowledge them to Christina.

Nicki needs to stop messing with Lil' Lili. How many times does Lili have to school her scrawny butt before Nicki realizes that the little one can take her down easily.
I do believe Guzman saw the foot grab, and he's getting sick of Nicki's rudeness and dirty tricks. But he will likely feel guilty that he didn't put a stop to the dust up with Lili before Nicki got hurt-- although it serves her right.
Salsero really saved Nelson's bacon, and all he gets as reward is a double espresso? Lame!
I thought the cheese scene, when JA slips a piece into Polita's mouth was cute too. Is that a real brand of cheese?
So, we did figure out that the cake scene that was described in the last recap, was not shown in the US, but was instead a scene where Vicky pours JA some Baileys. This is the second time we have seen characters drinking Baileys, so they are obviously a sponsor. I wonder if they were also a sponsor in Mexico, and if not, is it just the US market. I've never seen them change up the sponsors/ads like that in any other tn. We had to suffer through Tostacho ads in Abismo, although we can't find Tostachos in most places in the US (maybe border towns).

Elvira--I enjoyed your recap immensely. Thank you. You have a problem remembering names---I have a problem forgetting name associations. Every time I hear someone say Sr. Brizz, I immediately think of a nice rabbi making a few religious snips in a bris. As for Vlad--where do they get these names. I can't like him much when the association is with Vlad the Impaler. Uggh.
Why can't they put a super hulky hunky guy like Arriaga in some Polo t-shirts (the nice kind with collars, buttons and logos) instead of those plaid shirts. All they do is hide his assets. With Camila & little Ana wearing them in Amor Bravio, I'm getting plaid overload.

Gringo- Yes, apparently they are replacing scenes wherever they can with Bailey's scenes in the version we are getting in the US. Since Aribeth resides in Europe and recaps from online sites and tv there, she got a scene with cake and recapped that, while we got the Bailey's scene. I think JA enjoyed the Bailey's in the US version, much more than it sounded like he enjoyed the Vicky-made cake in the other version. :)
I'm surprised they didn't have the staff in the kitchen drinking Bailey's instead of eating cheese! Wouldn't it have been a hoot to see Polita get drunk on Bailey's instead of happy on cheese? ;-)

I liked the Felipe/Paula and the Felipe/Paula/Bea scenes and I can't emphasize enough how much I adore when the servants (aka Big Angel, Guzmáncito, Polita, Jean Marie + Tomasina and Salsero) are together. They are a hoot, and the cheese scene was lovely.

I liked the Felipe/Paula and the Felipe/Paula/Bea scenes and I can't emphasize enough how much I adore when the servants (aka Big Angel, Guzmáncito, Polita, Jean Marie + Tomasina and Salsero) are together. They are a hoot, and the cheese scene was lovely.

Well, I can give you more screencaps about the cake scene. :) Maybe the creators made a few new (advertising) scenes for the US version? Interesting.
