Por ella soy Eva #96 12/3/12

Rebe has a mysterious video to show Adri on a camcorder. BUT it's blank! Pluto breathes a sigh of relief and drags her out of the room.

Marcela continues to chew out a humiliated Ferni. She doesn't understand how he could have done such a thing, didn't he think of the kids, etc... Him: I needed to be important, the man of the house. That's why I did it. I felt small because of your career and success and everything. I can't believe he's got the nerve to blame her. It hasn't escaped her attention that he's lazy, doesn't like to work, makes irresponsible decisions, and more, but theft? She's shocked! He gets a pouty moment to himself after she leaves to go have a chat  with Adriano.

Rebeca has a little breakdown after the camcorder incident, especially when Pluto tells her he owes her nothing for those 10 years as his snow white.

Adri is doing a surprisingly good job of being respectful to Marcela - maybe this is supposed to show us that Eva was a good influence on him.

Mousse boys shows up, more mousse-ed and scarf-ed than ever, to smirk at Rebe about her misfortune. His duck-bill of moussed hair bobs hilariously as he chuckles. Rebe prays to la virgencita for help!

Eva discusses wedding clothes with Helena. It is positively ridiculous that now, when she even knows Juan's dead, she still doesn't see the Juan connection.

Rebe breaks down in front of Onesimo, who's been painting her guest room. Then she flips out at him for suggesting that he, a simple chauffeur, might be able to help her.

Haha, bad dad puts on his biggest scowl as Helena tries to ask him why he got so mean.

When Onesimo returns to Pluto, he gets grilled some more - Are you TOTALLY sure she's got nothing recorded?

Juan, of course, still wants to reconquer Helena. . . It's funny how often this word in Spanish (you'd get slapped if you told your ex you wanted to reconquer her) - it must be related to Spanish history... a positive/acceptable connotation for this in romantic relationships. But it's still a weird metaphor - like driving the moors out of your ex-lady's heart.

Pluto to Rebe - if you threaten me again, I'll crush you like a bug! But he does agree to convince Adriano to let her keep her job (but only on the condition that she leave him alone in the future. She gives him a hug but makes evil eyes over his shoulder.

The cliffhanger: Pluto is on the phone with one of his wicked accomplices, discussing his plans to implicate one more person, when he realizes Helena has been overhearing all of this!

Thank you, Ezra! Wow, what a letdown with that video. On the one hand, I thought she might have something better in there. On the other hand, I wondered if Onesimo hadn't replaced her video with something silly, like Monkey Washes Cat.

I assume this all means that Onesimo has the video and is waiting for the right time to start a bidding war between Pluto and Rebeca, or simply throw Pluto under the bus.

So, Rebeca is a lot dumber than I thought. Not only did she assume her precious video would be safe without taking any special precautions, but it hasn't even occurred to her that it might have been taken by Onesimo. I mean, he's friends with Pluto AND he apparently has unfettered access to her house!

Hi Ezra, thanks for the recap. Reconquistar = to win someone back or to win their love back. I don't think it's supposed to be as sinister as it sound in English, LOL. Although to conquistar does mean to make someone fall in love with you or to win their heart. It can have negative or positive connotations depending on the intentions of the conquistador, LOL!

"Like driving the Moors out of your ex's heart"! LOL Ezra. Exactly what I've been thinking!! And thanks for explaining, Audrey.

I thought it was really nice of Eugenia and JC/Eva to go to the Contreras house to comfort Marcela. Did they offer to pay for the kid's music school? And at the restaurant , did Eugenia tease JC/Eva by saying "I always wanted a daughter!" My Spanish isn't sharp enough to decipher these comments.

Ezra thanks for this fab recap. I just knew nothing was going to be on that video. I thought Rebe would be supicious of Onesimo, but meh, not so much. She truly is dumb, doesn't make the connection at all.

When Rebe and Pluti hugged it was like two snakes curling around each other, those faces. They should be frozen like that, it is their true characters!

I just knew Fern wouldn't tell his kids what he had done. Only he quit G.I. and that was it. Marcela is really disgusted with him. Now what is he gonna do? I know he said he was gonna look for a job, but how will he find one without a letter of recommendation?

I really liked the Eugenia/Eva outing so cute. I thought they had gone to see Marcela about Claudia? Something about Jennifer maybe?

Anon 12:47 - I didn't hear Eugenia make that joke about wanting a daughter last night (I wasn't paying attention at that moment) but she's made that joke before, so you probably heard right.

Madelaine - too funny - I had EXACTLY the same thought about the two snakes as Rebe and Pluto shared their little "hug."

Pluto thinks he's keeping his friends close and his enemies closer - but he's just making it easier for Rebeca to get the goods on him. Because now she's REALLY going to have it in for him.

So now my only questions are: 1) What will it take to get Rebeca to realize that Onesimo really can help her? 2) Will Onesimo get her to have sex with him first, or will she promise and then renege?

Thanks for the quick recap Ezra!

Eugenia wants to get Claudia involved in the arts, so she went to Marcela to ask about Kevin's music school. She says she has a "god daughter" (hijada) that she wants to enroll in the music program. Who wants to bet that Kevin's next crush will be snotty Claudia?

Rebe disappointed me. I thought she was smarter than this, but she is truly dumb. She has played this game badly. One of her early mistakes when she decided to get even with Pluti was trusting his henchman Onesimo in her house. Of course Onesimo also has a crush on her, and this has helped her in some ways (he never gave Pluti the video), but not in others (she didn't have the video herself to use against Pluti). In many ways, because Onesimo feels loyal to them both, he's just keeping them from destroying each other, but not helping either of them destroy the other person.

Her other mistake, when she suspected Eva was JC, was treating JC like the enemy. Instead, she should have offered to work with him to bring Pluti down. Dumb move.

Now Pluti wants to pin the Fitza (?) scam on her when it blows up and is discovered. She's his next JC. Her only hope is Onesimo putting a stop to it somehow. I'm just glad Pluti's not planning to pin it on one of the good guys. I really don't care if Rebe gets wrongly blamed. I just want Pluti to get caught already. I'm sure he'll talk his way out of the little bit of plotting conversation Helena heard.

Vivi - do you think Onesimo feels loyalty to both Pluto and Rebeca? That is an angle I hadn't considered! I've been assuming that Onesimo is loyal only to Onesimo. If he's actually capable of loyalty, then this could go in a different direction than I've been envisioning.

I agree Rebeca should have offered to help JC - or played it closer to the vest. She could have befriended Eva and teamed up against Pluti that way. I can only assume that the only reason she didn't was because she was still entertaining delusions of winning Pluto back at that point.

If Onesimo wanted to balckmail Rebe into giving him some sugar in exchange for the video, he could have done it already. Same with Pluti (money, not sugar). He's keeping it a secret from them both, and he looked super worried when Pluti said he'll pin the Fitza thing on Rebe. He really doesn't seem to want either of them to take the other down. I also think he wants Rebe to see his value and come to him willingly. He lusts after her, but he seems to want her to want him.

Thank you for your recap. I know that Oneisimo was painting and all but those cut off overalls were not a good look especially if he wants to impress Rebeca. Maybe Marcela will have enough of Fernando and divorce him. Maybe Eduardo will be swallowed up by a garbage pile in his own home. Ah, wouldn't it be nice . . .

Jarifa

Vivi- thanks I couldn't make out which of Marcela's kids it was with the school. It makes sense cause Claudia is always listening to the Ipod and also banging things like drumsticks. I think it would be good for her, but poor Kevin. He will be crushing on her.

Rebeca I think has a naco complex, I know she comes from the same hood as Angie and Onesimo, but she has left that far behind. I think she thinks that Pluti would never entrust his "secrets" to Onesimo, since he is a naco, so she doesn't see it yet. Pluti now wants to destroy her. It will be interesting to see what they try to do to destroy each other.

Thank you, Ezra. And I agree with Vivi. Onesimo is loyal to both Pluto and Rebeca, in spite of the fact that both of them treat him like crap. He looks worried when one is about to undo the other. It makes for a more interesting story because you wonder when he's going to be forced to make a choice. It also makes him more likable despite his resemblance to Gollum. And I agree, Jarifa, those cut-off overalls were not a good look on him... made him look like a Munchkin (but maybe that's because I just saw Wicked).

Eugenia made a joke to Eva about how she'll know how things are when she becomes a mother. JC did not think it funny. Mama, por favor. hahaha

Good observation, Madelaine, about Rebeca and Pluto as two snakes curling around each other. Unlike Bastardo or Modesto, I enjoy it when either of these two are on the screen. They are so evil. I did wonder about Rebeca praying sincerely to the Virgin. Do people this bad really think the Divine will answer their prayers in the way they want? It's a funny contradiction, but somehow I find it believable. I guess that's narcissism.

I think Rebeca didn't team up with Eva/JC because that's not who she is. In her world, people are there to be stepped on. Either as a ladder like Pluto to raise her position, or a doormat to grind dirt onto, like Onesimo. She spits venom at everyone who she is not actively using at the moment, even people who would be natural allies like Helena or Renato. Look at how she treats her long-time friend Angie. Friendship? Loyalty? Cooperation? They're not in her vocabulary. So when she concluded that Eva was JC, her mind went immediately to oppression, not potential cooperation.

Thanks, Ezra!

(That's all I have time for)

Bill said, "do people this bad really think the Divine will answer their prayers in the way they want?"

This is my question, too!
The baddies may as well get down on their knees and pray: "Oh Lord, please help me break your 4th, 5th, and 6th commandments, amen." From novella to novella apparently even the evil ones pray for help in hatching their evil schemes and it cracks me up every time I witness this!!

Ezra - Thanks.

I'm betting Onésimo and Rebecca will wind up as a couple.

Thank you, Ezra.

I don't understand why Onie tolerates either Pluti or Rebe; Why does he keep coming back for more abuse?

Rebe does seem to be simply taking care of Rebe. She has a nasty streak, but she isn't BAD like shiny Pluti. He cheats and steals and lies. --Muy malo!

I hope in the end Pluti gets framed for all the bad stuff, and Rebe wins, big time.
