Amor Bravío #103 (Uni 98) Fri 1/11/13 All The Bad News The Scooby-Do’s Ain’t Fit To Print Or The Darkness Before The Dawn Is Just Dios’ Working In His Coinikydinky Miraculous Ways

Ok. All done.

capítulo 103

Lo del Pasado:

Comandante Juarez has told his 2nd in command that he hasn’t any proof yet about the padre’s murder, just Alonso’s word for it, and that he doesn’t trust Isadora Lazcano any further than he can throw her--and that’s one far piece these days; Rodolfo has offered to be the eyes and ears for the Scooby-Do’s, and Camila and Daniel have finished saying their farewells.  Cam-n-Dan have gone back into the house to fetch off the wall the portrait of Don Daniel that Cam had given him as a present in happier times when, who should appear to add salt to their wounds but Isadora de Gorra [de gorra = getting freebies at somebody else’s expense]!  Lots of “unh-uhhh!” and “uh-huhhhhh!” follows.

Lo Del Nuevo:

Cam finally tells Issa to stuff it where the sun don’t shine if she can even cuz she’s so full of it, and dares her to stop her, then stomps out of the hacienda with it.  La Pissy de Hissadora has another signature hissy fit.  She starts yelling at the top of her lungs for Rod and Eleuterio to stop Cam’nDan or else.  (Will somebody throw a bucket of bilge-water on Wicked Witch of South-Of-The-Border and-how and now, please????)  Neither of them being ready to set themselves against either Camila or Daniel—they tell her it’s like it or lump it as far as they are concerned.  They dare Hissadora to either can it or can their asses if that’s what she wants, but they aren’t stopping Sra. Camila from taking her own dead uncle’s picture with her.

In Aculco, at Amanda’s B&B/Rehab and Wellness Center, Amanda tells Osvaldo she has no choice now but to tell Natalia who her daddy really is.  (Whoo!  That’s a relief!)  Os is apologetic for not having managed to put Dio and Issa behind bars where both Amanda and the Lic agree the fiendish frenemies belong.

Speaking of Natalia’s dastardly daddy, Dio finally intercedes to put his lame leg ‘n er…foot down to put the kibosh on this cacophonous scene long enough to remind Issa—the real malquerida in this telenovela—that it’s not exactly life and death here and there's no reason to  raise such a stink bomb over it.  Issa stands there letting the flies into that copious pie-hole of hers, but seeing she has no choice really, she lets them leave without a further word. However, once CamnDan’s caravan is on the roll, she assures her staff that she will demand totally loyalty from here on out from all of them or next time she’ll kick their sorry jackasses to the curb, if not to kingdom come ‘n back. The crowd of hired help skedaddle and she then allows herself a huge, Gollumesssssque sssssmile of ssssself-satisssssfaction.

Later that day, Padre Anselmo introduces Aaron to the warden of the area’s prison as somebody who is able to teach literacy to a prison population.  The warden suggests a special prisoner who’s been violently delenguanated; he assigns Aaron the task of teaching this particular reprobate at least two of his three R’s.  Aaron and Anselmo are quickly introduced to this pain in the warden’s backside.  Why, it’s El Lio de Leo!!!!  (Duhn-duhn-duhnnnnn!) Padre A is drop-jaw impactado. The warden warns Leo de Pervertido that this is his very last-est of chances.   Aaron tells Leo that he’s muy interested in Leo telling him a variety of things via the written word.  Dumb but not deaf, the now docile-as-a-lamb de Leo realizes it’s his last chance and chastens himself—cuz it’s all the better to dole out his venganza to the  vituperative villainess de Isadora, La Viuda de Lazcano.

Back in town, Viviana and Rafael are cooking up something in the kitchen (which Viewerville is certain randy Rafa is hoping will eventually lead to somethin’ smokin’ up the bed sheets).  Viv mentions she’s baking Roman a cake and that she’s taken with the little guy.   It’s almost as if she’d known him in another life or some such.  (AWWWW!!!)

Hissa is ordering Pie and Doro to grab up all the Monterde pictures and stash them somewhere till she decides what to do with them when Cayetano drops in on La Viuda De Lazcano to plead his Pablo’s case to remain as administrator for the M.Q.--and doubtlessly, to hope to plead his own. Our malicious malefactoress feigns victimhood to a coincidental set of circumstances and jealous jabberwocky unplugged.  However, she stoppers the crap can long enough to assure the old fart-cicle that while she’s the owner of La Malquerida Pablo will remain her administrator and become her right-hand man.

In another part of the hacienda, Mariano finds Pablo and chats with him about Issa’s (still unbeknownst to them) response to Daddy Cayatonto.  They commiserate that Pablo may find it distasteful to continue working for Sra. Lazcano considering the way she’s mistreated Camila and the shady way she came to own the place, but hey, a job’s a job and Pablo’s getting married in a week.

At the townhouse, Cam and Dan are bolstering each other up with the hope that one day her uncle’s portrait will go back and hang where it belongs, on the wall at La Malquerida.  Dan hugs Cami and tells her he loves it when she’s the brave little lady who fights for what she believes is right no matter the consequences.  They kiss on it and she remembers she’s got to water the dog; he tells her they don’t want to be late for the appointment he made with Lic. Becerra’s legal friend to discuss the fight to get back the M.Q. from Issa.

Issa comes to tell Pablo that she is keeping him on as her administrator, and she promises him that as long as she’s the owner of the M. Q. he will always have a job.  In fact, she plans to keep him very busy (doing her dirty work).  He thanks both adults in the room then.  His daddy warns him to be a good worker and not to shame the family name….. (Guess it’s really too late for that, Cayatonto, considering Pablo’s primogenitor problem.)

On their way out from the prison, Anselmo and Aaron discuss their surprise at the student the Warden “awarded” him being no less than Luzma’s perverted Tío Lio de Leo.  Yup.  Well, he’s got to be exasperated, they agree.  Aaron feels he knows the reason Dios put him on this path.  Anselmo says Dios never is wrong when he indicates which path it is, either.  Well, it’s obvious that if Leoncio’s so desperate to learn to read and to write that he’s got something he has to tell them, says Aaron, and he’ll be the teacher to get him to unload all the dirt on Isadora and Dionisio!  The padre mentions that he’s got to stop first on the way to see Com. Juarez since he’s doing the exhumation of Padre Baldomero’s body in order to do an autopsy.  Aaron offers to take the padre back to town afterwards with a slight detour to Vivi and Rafa’s for lunch.  After a bit of politely refusal, the padre agrees. Good idea, says Anselmo, cuz he’s got lots to discuss with them once he’s there.

=================================

~~Parte 2~~

Becerra’s paralegal, Margarita, hands him the mail and mentions that there is an anonymous envelope that was thrown under the door a few hours earlier, but he doesn’t really pay much attention to that. He wants to know about the validity of dearly departed dead-as-a-doornail de Lonzo’s will in which he left all to Mami Dearest.  It would seem it is legal, says Margarita. It is, unfortunately for Os, all too legal after all.  She mentions that another notary who she ferreted out somehow, represents some builder [constructora] of tourist developments, and he requested [solicitar] a copy of the document granting rights to La Malquerida over to Alonso Lazcano.  Third matter of import to Os is whether Maggie got Dan’l an appointment with a lawyer to help them fight to get the M.Q. back.  Yes, she tells him, and they are probably at that appointment right now.  Os sighs. “—Hopefully Lic. Cardenas will.”

Diabolical Dio and anguished Agustina finally arrive at the Den of Depredation—that is, Dio’s Plunder Palace, such as it is.  (“Honey we’re ho-o-o-o-me!  Bwahahahahah!!”)  Gussie gets a cold chill up her back the minute she walks in the place.  (It isn’t exactly the epitome of homey, shall we say.)  Dio yells for the maid to get gloomy Gussie’s things put upstairs in his room since she’ll be living there with them all from now on, then goes to fix himself a much needed drink.

Daniel and Cam tell the attorney how he was blackmailed and forced—coerced--to give up rights of ownership of the M.Q. in order to get the kidnapped Cami safely returned.  Yes, there was any number of witnesses who were there when all this went down.  Carderas tells them that it will be extremely difficult to recover ownership of the M.Q. since the guy Dan gave it over to is now pushing up posies, and it's been legally taken over by a third party.  Even so, he will agree to fight her for them to get it back.  (Does this Cardenas guy get paid whether he wins or loses or does he get his cash only if he wins?)  It’s just that it is his duty to inform them that it could take months or even years to settle this dispute.  (Yeah, and by that time the whole thing’ll be moot when a dozen hotels and a couple of amusement parks are sitting where the dung piles used to be!  Woe is thee, oh Viewerville!  Woe is thee!)  Dan gives him the go ahead to do whatever he can manage [a su alcance = within one’s purview/whatever is within one’s grasp or ability to reach for] in order to reclaim the ranch for Cam.

Meanwhile, Dio confides in Omar that he’s got to figure a way to keep Nat out of the house since his wife is living there now.  Omar suggests an accounting course or a language course somewhere. Dio thinks that’s just the ticket to keep her busy and distracted and out of sight.  “—Get her on the phone for me ASAP!”

Comandante Juarez exhumes Padre Baldomero’s body while Anselmo and Aaron are there to witness it.  Anselmo still can’t believe Isadora actually could have killed Padre B.  Well, don’t count your chickens just yet, cautions Juarez, cuz they first have to see what the autopsy/post mortem [necropsia] says.  Anselmo (as well as the whole of Viewerville) wants to know “—if you do confirm [de confirmarse] Daniel’s suspicions, are you going to arrest Isadora?”  At least she’ll be interrogated, answers Juarez.  He mentions that there was a witness who described seeing somebody with her description [caracteristicas] leaving the boarding house in a real rush [salir corriendo] the same day the padre died.

Anselmo comments to Aaron that CamnDan should be made aware of that little tidbit, especially since yesterday when Tolentino was ordered to give his statement he declared in favor of Isadora, he explains.  Well, not exactly in favor, but he did say that she was in the church praying at the time Alonzo and Ximeana had their accident.  It’s a long story that he’ll have to continue on the way to Viv’s place.

Dionisio gets on the phone with Nat and tells her he wants her to take an English course and a business course in accounting [capitacíon].  She tells him its not necessary to bother now since she was just about to call to tell him she’s quitting.  She really doesn’t want to keep lying to her mother about working for him.  He promises her the moon and the stars.  She keeps refusing and finally lies that now that her mother needs her help with the boarding house, you see…blah blah blah.  But Dionision doesn’t see (and certainly doesn’t give a crap about her mama!!)  Dio doesn’t want to take no for an answer; he promises her “mucho dinero”—“enough that your mother will never have to work again.” No, thanks. She’s still not interested.  He’s furious and tells her that she’s not allowed to quit!  She will not be allowed to walk away from him!!  Nat is stung and confused by the looks of it, but she still won’t accept his offers and finally just hangs up on him. Click!! (I do believe that’s a first for that ol’ diablo de Dio!) “—Hello?  Hello???  Natalia????”  (Viewerville does a virtual fist-bump with the screen.)

Meanwhile, Isadora now gives Pablo the task of finding buyers from the area who would be interested in buying all the M.Q.’s livestock.  Pablo is saucer-eyed impactado to hear this as it obviously means the closing down of the ranch’s main line of business and the resultant loss of his job, just when he’s getting married and needs a job, too!  Issa tells him to calm down.  She's got his back.  He'll have a job.

Amanda walks in as Nat hangs up.  She explains she’s kept her promise not to work for Sr. Ferrer.  Amanda is thrilled, but obviously Nat is not.  She walks out of the room with a hangdog expression and Amanda figures she’s going to have to break the news to Nat very soon (like how about like five minutes ago???) and prays to Dios that Nat understands and doesn’t think bad things about her afterward.

Obviously that witch of an ex convinced her daughter to quit, Dio gripes to himself.   That’s got to be the reason!  He decides then to change ta ckand strategizes what next to win over his daughter in order to get closer to her.

The gang’s all there when Aaron brings Padre Anselmo to lunch there with him.  Aaron informs them all that his new teaching assignment is non-other than Leo Pervertido.  “--OMG!!  You’ve got to be joking” is the common consensus.  Aaron says he’ll give them the gory details after since Padre Anselmo has something important to tell them.  Padre A informs Cam and Dan then that Juarez will be questioning Issa because they have discovered that the accident Alonso-longio-so had which caused Ximena’s death was not an accident at all.  It was intentional  [provocado = brought about on purpose/instigated by someone or something].

Gussie is griped at by the Hubby from Hell because her clothes don’t fit into the armoire.  He peevishly tells her to make do with the closet in the guest room (not that he probably ever entertains guests in that cave of his) and then gives Gussie the bum’s rush right after.

The padre explains that Juarez listened to what Dan told him, acted on it and got the go ahead to have the dead priest’s body exhumed.  Juarez had padre B.’s body exhumed today for an autopsy.  Cam and Dan figure finally the b!tchwitch will get what’s coming to her.  Not quite yet, cautions Anselmo.  If the autopsy shows there was foul play then Juarez wants to interrogate Isadora about it.  She won’t be able to get out of it then now that there’s proof the accident that crippled the now Limbo’d ‘Lonso and sent Ximeana to those...ahem…warmer climes in “lo mas allá”, was actually not an accident at all!

They all reason that whoever caused the accident wanted to kill Al also.  Vivi reckons and states what’s so obvious to everyone there.  “–-Who else but—Isadora!!!” Cam joins in. “After all, didn’t he accuse her of trying to kill him?” Yep, says Anselmo, and that statement he gave was exactly why Juarez questioned her after Al kicked the proverbial bucket.  Dan promises Cam to speak with Juarez directly and that way they’ll get hold of the truth.

At the same time, Rosario goes into the church to pray for guidance and courage.  She remembers when not-long-for-this-world-lonso begged her to kill him as a favor and a means of making Issa finally pay for the rotten way she had used and abused him all his life long.  She humiliated him, insulted him, and belittled him always. She destroyed him; she used him any old way she wanted and she took out on him [cobrarse= make a claim on, collect for] what his father did to her. He couldn’t stand the thought of going to jail in his condition, and for sure he’d be defenseless there when Isadora, or somebody she’d paid off, would come to finish him off.  No.  He won’t give Isadora the satisfaction! So, if he’s got to die, then he’ll be the one to decide himself when and where and how.  Rosario is the only one he can trust cuz she is supposed to be his real mother, right?  All he wants now is for this living Hell of his to come to an end.  He wants do die with her, his real mother, in a safe place, there in that room where she can’t get in to hurt him further.

Rosario remembers trying to convince her son they could make a go of it together once he apologized to all of those he’d harmed, but he refused.  He told her life for him was senseless at this point and if she was his mother, the one who gave him life, then she could also take it from him.  “—Death is Dios’s domain, not mine.”  Dios abandoned him the day he let his father snatch him out of her arms he counters.  She won’t ever be able to convince him otherwise, he insists.  “—Kill me!  I am begging you!  Kill me!!  Do it as a symbol of your love. ”  “—No!  NO!”  “—Listen to me!  Nobody knows what Isadora said to you.  Nobody will notice.  I have a bad heart and everyone will think I had a heart attack.  Isadora had the perfect plan—as always.”  She still refuses.  He insists that nobody must know the plan and it will be their secret.  She has to keep quiet, he tells her.

Now Rosario is leaving her fate in Dios’s hands since she finally helped her son and did what he wanted of her.  What will happen if she goes against his final wish and hands herself over to the law?  Nobody will know that Isadora wasn’t really his mother but she herself.  Nobody will know that instead of being heartlessly cruel, he was actually only a victim himself of that horrible woman, she sobs.  (Lord deliver me!  I swear I can’t bear to see another sniffle, or bleary-eyed tear or hear another garbled, mucous-filled sob come from that woman! I feel all drenched, and totally icky-sticky.  Yechhh!  Gawd, shouldn’t the old gal be totally dehydrated by now?  Ugggg!)

Cam’s gotta call Mama about this one, she figures and heads for the phone.  (Yay!  Finally a break from Waterworks R Us!)   The phone rings.  Glum Gussie gets on the line.  Cam hears it in her voice and tells her that she’s free to come to the house and come on in any time she wants.  Well, that aside, things don’t go any better for Gussie cuz Cam then gives her the bad news about Ximeana’s death having been anything but accidental.  Nope, it was deliberate, premeditated murder!!  (Juarez is on the hunt, now, too!)

Oh, Lord.  We’re back to sobbing and dobbing again as Rosario now remembers the rest of that horrible hour with love-me-n-leave-me de Lonnie.  Al reminisces that Issa never gave him love of any sort.  She never demonstrated it or permitted him to either.  She was harsh, stubborn, and strict; she never once gave him a hug or caress of any sort when he was little.  No, he always knew deep down that she couldn’t be his real mother, but he never heeded that sixth sense.  That’s why now he was begging Rosario to free him from the burden it was living with her.  With all the love she claims to have for him, she should kill him and give him the peace he deserves.

Back in the present now, Rosario pleads that it is the other woman who should pay for all the harm she caused her son.

In the sacristy, Tolentino tells Padre A about the woman out in the church still crying her eyes out after all this time.

Rosario goes to confession finally with Padre A.  “—Padre, I accuse myself of having complied with the last wish of my son.”  Cara de compassion de Padre A.  “--That was what?”  “—To help him die well {and/or properly confessed?}.  “--To die?”  “—Yes.  If I didn’t do it, then she was going to do it! Er…the one who everyone thinks is his mother--and he didn’t want her to get away with it.”  Cara de OMG! de Padre A.  He begins whispering in disbelief. “—Jesus, Mary and Joseph…”  “--I’m very grateful to Dios for having brought my son back to me for the last few days of his--of Alonzo’s--life.” “—Are you speaking of Alonso Lazcano?????”  “—Yes.  You officiated at the funeral.”  Rosario dutifully explains to Padre Anselmo that she is Alonso’s real mother and that she killed him only as an act of love.  Cara de bug-eyed Ruh-rohhhh!!!! del Padre Anselmo.

No te preocupes, Jardinera. We all know that your wonderful recaps are well worth the wait! (Looks like I've caught the Jardinera alliteration bug/gift!)

I don't have much to say right now. Perhaps a second cup of coffee will help. I'm still trying to figure out how Rosario will interfere with Hissadora's smug satisfaction.

Looks as if there may be some interesting tensions between Hissy and Pablo about her plans for the bulls. If he lets others know what she asked of him, that might stir things up a bit. I wonder whether she'll ask him not to say anything (or perhaps she already did ask him and I missed it, as I do so often).

What an episode and avances. Can't wait til Monday.

Cayatono will excuse anything to get with Isadora. Now I'm not so sure that even learning she's a cold blooded killer will deter him.

When Rosario confessed to the padre, I was worried he thought she was the one who pushed the car over the cliff.

Can they do an autopsy on an older cadaver and be able to assess that he was smothered to death?

Looking forward to the recap later Jardinera.

Lots of balls in motion and it seems it all falls into place on Monday, judging by the crazy previews.

Isa really didn't waste time making it known that MQ will no longer be a bull ranch. That's not very smart. She should have kept her plans a little closer to her vest. But then again, she is so sure she has won, that she has no qualms about dropping her mask. The only one she still uses a mask in front of is Cayetonto. Dope!

Cathyx- All I can say is that in all of those cop shows and CSI type shows, an autopsy can show if someone was suffocated, vs dying of natural causes. Doesn't seem like an autopsy was ever done on the Padre since it was assumed he died of natural causes.

Vivi, I can see being able to determine death by suffocation or just a heart stopping right after it happened, but once the body has been buried for a while, what, a couple of months?, then I wonder if it's even possible to tell. Maybe it will be a beanie moment.

And Isa taking down her mask is a perfect way to describe her.

Can't wait for the recap! Thanks so much in advance!!! Ah ... I want to know what happened! AB is not showing in my part of the world. I love traveling, but I realize that there are things that I miss in the states.

From what I've been reading in the recaps, and from what I saw before I left, Cayetano is so entrenched in his "affair" that he is not listening to anyone. His sons ... nor long-time friends (Agustina) who have known both him and Isa longer than he has known Isa. EVERYONE is telling him that she is bad, a gold-digger, dangerous, etc., and he thinks that EVERYONE is lying? She keeps getting accused of murder, he sees her being anything but compassionate with Camila, and he STILL only believes her? Isa will probably pull out the Rocio/Don Dan card/picture if Cayetano ever starts to doubt her. Then that will draw him closer to her I suppose. Sigh ... I don't know if I should feel sorry for him. He should have stronger resolve, even if his wife is a snob. I guess he has bad taste in women.

Cathyx- A quick search online shows that if a body was enblamed, an effective autopsy (necropsy) can be done long after burial. You just can't do blood toxicology or anything to do with the fluids that are removed during enbalming. Maybe Carlos, or any forensics people on the blog can weigh in. I think there would be signs of suffocation if you looked at the lungs.

Vivi, that's good to know, I hate having to wear my beanie, it's too itchy. And I know you meant embalmed. ;)

Some of the procedural shows I've seen can also detect microscopic or otherwise fibers in the mouth and nose (the pillow case).

Isa is becoming a little stupid. Her church alibi was very risky and her being overruled by even her own workers regarding Don Daniel's portrait---she actually looked smug when everyone left. She just got moded on all fronts and she's acting smug?

Monday looks like an awesome ep, unless those were also upcoming week avances. If they're all for Monday, it's going to be an exhausting ep--in a good way.

Nanette

Nanette, I was surprised too by Isa's smug look after she was completely slapped down by the entire Malquerida staff after the picture incident.

I laughed at Dion telling Nat that he forbid her to quit, lol. What an a-hole. But now I fear for her safety. And now I'm not sure what the purpose of driving lessons was either.

Cathyx: I fear for Amanda. Didn't Nat tell Dio that her mother forbade her to work for him? I know she promised her mother something because I saw her to the kissing of thumb thing in the previous ep.

I still think the church alibi was a very stupid move on Isa's part. It's kind of a beanie moment for me.

Nanette, we'll have to see about the church alibi and if it will play a part in this or not. There is so much to get Isa on to put her in jail that it may not matter. We have the envelop that Rosario has, we have the recording of the conversation with Alonso, we have the witness who saw Isa going into or out of the hostel when the padre died, and we have Leoncio learning to read and telling them Isa did it. And if the inspector figures that there was a couple of hours between when Tolentino saw her the first time and when he saw her the second time, then he can use that to be able to still place her at the scene of the crime.

Great Part 1 Jardinera!

When Isa gets victories, the more arrogant she gets, and the sloppier she gets. Things like the church alibi will eventually be her downfall, I'm sure.

Jardinera, you nicknames are just too funny. Wicked witch of South-of-the-border. Hah!

I think we can all figure that Viv will end up adopting Roman, no?

This is the best line so far, though:
..she stoppers the crap can long enough to assure the old fart-cicle that while she’s the owner of La Malquerida Pablo will remain her administrator and become her right-hand man.

Can't wait for the second half.

Cathyx: It's not that I'm thinking about whether her alibi will play a part in this or not. I do feel Juarez is definitely going to pursue her alibi thoroughly, which is why I just think, considering how smart Isa has been throughout, that she would use an alibi that there was a high risk of being broken.

I meant that she would use an alibi that there WASN'T a high risk of being broken.

Nanette: Nat told Dio that her mother needs help at the hostel because they have a lot of guests. She did not tell him her mother forbade her to work for him. Since Nat is his hija, I doubt very much he would harm her. Amanda on the other had,... well not so much.

Cayetano is an idiot who thinks with him small head and will deserve whatever grief Isa doles out for him eventually. Stupid. Stupid. Man.

Nanette, I understand and agree with you. But what I'm saying is that even if no one entered the church to see that she wasn't there for 2 hours, she also can't prove that she was actually there the whole time either. What alibi could she use that wouldn't have a hole in it, short of having a friend lie for her? There is no alibi because she did actually do the crime and was at the crime scene. She could say she was at home or shopping but she would have the same problem proving it because she was gone in order to commit the crime.

LoriLoo: Thanks for the clarification. This is my fourth TN and I'm understanding more and more dialogue each time, but still miss out on the majority of what's being said.

Cathyx: Very, very true. Still, for some reason, the whole church alibi bothers me.

Good stuff, Jardinera.

I think Aaron will get Leoncerdo to spill the frijoles on our Black Widow/Medea/Dragon Queen. Didn't anyone ever find the cash he got from her?

What do we think El Diablo will do now regarding Natalia? Will he get it into his head to kill her if he's pushed to the wall over it? Remember, he still doesn't know that Hissadora didn't give birth to Alonssso.

Jardinera, I love your Part 1--the great snark ("stuff it where the sun don’t shine if she can even cuz she’s so full of it"), your endlessly inventive names ("El Lio de Leo," "the old fart-cicle"), and, of course, your marvellous alliterative powers. I especially liked "vituperative villainess de Isadora, La Viuda de Lazcano."

Looking forward to Part 2!

Jardinera, Great first half. Your title is masterful -- "Dios working in coinkydinky ways" defines our favorite art form! I could just picture Hissadora getting a cold bucket of water poured on her even while she DEMANDED loyalty. (Great way to get loyalty, especially when you look as strange as she looked in the good-bye scene: those riding pants with a thick black in-seam!)

El Diablo -- the dance between controlling himself and controlling everyone around him is fun to watch. The phone call with Natalia was a classic case of Dio losing control, trying to get it back, losing it again. The gentlemanly peacemaker routine is so phony, especially when he looks as sinister as he does with his with the dark jackets and bum leg. I think that Agustina is the only one who believes it right now.
I certainly hope that Natalia doesn't reverse course when she finds out that he is her father.

And, as Vivi points out, Cayetano seems to be Isadora's only dopy disciple now.

Roman with Vivi; Leo with Aron. Coinkydinks abound.

Looking forward to part II.

Thanks Jardinera, part 1 is great!

Netgirl - there are complete episodes on Youtube, commercial free! No avances for this eppy though.

Poor Rosario's so conflicted ! I feel bad for her, but I want to know what the plan is for taking Isa down, not the plan for Alonso's death.

I wonder how the padre will help her since he can't use the confession info she told him to do anything on his own really.

Poor Gussie, she didn't realize what an abusive relationship she was in when she got in it and now there's no real avoiding it. When Dio said "she'll be living with us now," she looked so surprised/hurt.

Well looks like TPTB lined up a lot of anvils this week. I hope some start falling satisfactorily next week, but we still need to get up to speed on Pablo/Luzma, mystery girl, Nat/Yago/Rudolfo, Mariano and all the stuff in Chile. Hope we don't have to plow through too much more setup.

Did anyone else notice that Mariano shaved and now looks much better?

I hope he and Pablo have a talk about how possessive Hissadora looked putting her arm through Cayetano's in front of them. I hope Mariano confronts him about that.

UA: I think Leo will be Isa's downfall. He'll either start it, move it along considerably or put the final nail in her coffin. If he escapes, he might also, literally, put her in her coffin.

I didn't notice Mariano's shaved face. Cayatono is behaving so inappropriately it's out of place. And he acts like it's totally ok and normal, as if he were a single man. This story line doesn't quite fit in to this TN.

Actually, I didn't mean literally put her in her coffin, I meant he would kill her, but then I thought about it. She is such a horrible little sociopath, I always wondered what punishment would be bad enough for her. So what's one of the worst things that could happen to anybody and probably the thing she deserves the most? Being buried alive. Ewww. it creeps me out just thinking about it.

Cathyx: Mariano looks so much better without The Beard.

Poor Pablo is so focused on keeping his job so that he can support Luzma. But I guess he knows that if he's going to put Luzma through university and grad school as he plans, then he needs to start putting money in the bank starting NOW. But it's funny seeing him be so concerned about keeping his job and being responsible, because he's so young.

UA - Yes, Mariano looked much better. I notice in the previews that Camila is wearing brighter colors and her hair looks looser, more fashionable.

I thought that we had begun the nueva etapa, but perhaps these subtle signs are another indication that we are still only setting the groundwork.

On the road next week -- not a good one to be away from my TV set. Thanks goodness for electronic access!

Cathyx- Well, so far Cayetonto hasn't actually crossed the sexual line with Isa. The old goat probably wouldn't even know what the term emotional affair means. Right now he can fool himself into thinking he's just being gentlemanly and protecting a lady who lacks any protection. But, I don't think it's unusual for an older man to have the hots for someone and fall into an affair this way. Especially not when things have gotten as cold between a husband and wife as things have gotten between him and Rocio. Now, if they were a happily married couple, I would be scratching my head. But the door was wide open and Isa blew right through it.

I did notice Mariano and Pablo noticing that Isa and Caye were arm in arm. Isa noticed too and extricated herself. But Cayetonto remained clueless, as usual.

Mariano needs to remember that time he walked in on Cayetano talking on the phone and got off quickly when Mariano entered. If Cayetano was that clueless, he wouldn't have rushed off the phone. I agree that if Cayetano's marriage were top notched, he wouldn't be this aggressive toward Isa, but he has to know what he's doing, even if he doesn't want to really admit it.

When we see these changes on the show, during the show, like Mariano shaving and someone changing the way they dress, I wonder if the producers get viewer feedback while the show is airing and make the changes because of that. This show airs in Mexico while it's being made, isn't that true?

That could be. Well and good if it is, but I think that the writers and producers have to find the balance between viewer feedback and what works for the program.

I would always be protesting the short-vest-over-untucked-blouse look and anything pink on a heroine. I always associate pink with girls who play the helpless card.

I don't know if the Mexican audience is ever unhappy with the half beard, since SO many tn men wear it. But yes, they only have about a month between filming and airing in Mexico. I'm guessing the clean look for Mariano has more to do with actor just coming back from being really sick.

As for Camila, she's been wearing darker colors and her hair partly pinned back just since Xi died. She's just now going back to her brightly colored shirts. Her hair was loose in the beginning too, so this is just going back to her former look.

The only other big changes to her look happened when she and Dan began their secret love affair and were giddy with love. That also coincided with her not being able to work in the fields after her accident, so she wasn't wearing jeans, boots, or flannel/checked shirts. Instead, she had a softer girly look-- leggings, solid pastel colored shirts (some wrap shirts), headbands, and ballet flats. The headbands stayed for a while after she went back to work, but not much longer after that.

HellaShelle: My understanding of confession, as a recovering Catholic, is that if a priest learns of a serious crime being committed (or having been committed), he can very well go to the authorities. I don't think he will though, I think he will try to help Rosario and somehow in their conversation the envelope will come up.

I also like Mariano better shaved. I'm still really tweaked at Cayetano being such a dumb ass. And it was interesting how Pablo and Mariano looked at their pa with Isa on his arm...

Vivi - I didn't realize that Rene Strickler had been out sick. What a shame! Sounds like he was really sick from what I just read. This reminds me of the situation with Jorge Salinas, though I suspect that it had less effect on the course of the story.

It's interesting problem for these long-running serials (several months any way) to have illness among the actors. It can really change the rhythm of the plot if it's a key player.

It certainly played merry hell with parts of LQNPA.

I always heard that a priest can't repeat anything except under the following conditions:

-- the confessee (?) gives permission
-- the priest hears the same information from another source.

Psychiatrists can report crimes.

Padre Anselmo, like Padre Baldy, is not the kind of priest that sits back and prays for the best when he hears something disturbing in the confessional. Both of them are all about pressuring people to spill the truth, and if not, hinting at other people to get them to pressure the person to tell the truth. Whatever Chayo ends up confessing to him, I'm betting he's going to be actively working to make things happen.

Love your recap, Jardinera! Thanks so much.

So someone puts an anonymous envelope under Becerra's door, and he doesn't look at it??? I mean he can't know it's from Rosario, but isn't he at least worried that one of Diablo's henchman left him a death threat? Por favor...

I don't know if this qualifies as a spoiler, but the avances show father Anselmo and Rosario talking to Cam and Dan.

Thanks, all. I've finally corrected the typos and puctuation clarifications, and what not. Anything else--well, you'll just have to deal. LOL!
======
Yep, we're finally getting this show on the road. Train's leavin' on track #9. Love it when this part starts to stand and deliver, you know?

Great snark, Jar.

Vivi: "I'm guessing the clean look for Mariano has more to do with actor just coming back from being really sick."--that's what I was thinking. It also looks like he lost weight, which would be understandable and I think it looks good on him (though sorry fo the reason why, of course).

Marta: Os has been at Amanda's since leaving the hospital. His secretary mentioned an envelope without a name... so they know there is something in the office but have not opened it yet.

Week of January 7, 2013:

Gussie cares more about what people think than her daughter’s happiness.
Dio eggs on Gussie’s dislike of Dan.
More gloating from Isa.
Rocio is almost as clueless as Gussie.

Sad goodbyes between Cam/Dan and the excellent workers of LMQ.
Os pays no attention to THE MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS IN THE WORLD.
Gussie is all alone.

Thanks for the rest of the recap Jardinera. I'm glad they showed more of the conversation between Rosario and Alonso. What I'm glad about is that it showed Rosario not wanting to do it and the back and forth with her about it. As a nurse, I had a hard time believing that she would do that. But after hearing the conversation, I was more convinced that she could be talked into it. If I were in Alonso's place, I might very well ask Rosario to do the same thing.

Can't wait until Monday's episode.

Oh, Nanette, love your highs and lows! Muchas gracias!

Nanette: Another great list. My favs (I never like downsers so this is from the ups for the wks.)

"Dan reveals his identity to the first TN cop I’ve ever seen who actually knows what they are doing." ITSA!!

"Gussie rattles Isa." Almost forgot, but yep, that was definitely satisfying.
And....
"Rodolfo promises Dan he’ll keep him informed of what’s going on at LMQ."

Guess I'll make an exception for:

"Os pays no attention to THE MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS IN THE WORLD." LOL! ITSA!

ita, Jardinera. my fave too of Nanette's down list.

btw, Jardinera, especially love your parentheticals. they're so how i was feeling while watching:)

Jardinera and Marta: Thank you. I was just thinking, what happens if Isa gets thrown out of LMQ soon? Here's my scenario: Cayetano invites Isa to LAB as a guest. Hahahahahahahaha. I'm so loving the look on Rocio's face (in my mind).

Oh, I like that scenario, Nanette. Rocio really gets on my last nerve with her treatment of her future daughter-in-law, like it or not. I would love to see her face if that's what happens!

Jardinera, I don't have more to say about the TN, but I just had to let you know how much I enjoyed your wit Part 2 of the recap. I too felt that Rosario's crying was over the top, but it would never have occurred to me to refer to her as "Waterworks R Us" and to observe "Gawd, shouldn’t the old gal be totally dehydrated by now?" I also loved "Viewerville does a virtual fist-bump with the screen" when Natalia hangs up on Dio. Brava!

Great work, Jardinera.

Of course, the llorathon could be worse; imagine if Victoria Ruffo were playing Rosario.

The one good thing I thought of in Camila having to leave La Malquerida is that Maja is now safe from Hissadora.

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. I particularly liked your virtual fist-bump for Nat hanging up on Dio as I was cheering her on.

Nanette - thanks for your list. Even when things may seem slow, your list demonstrate, this plot is moving.

Monday looks great!

Can't wait to see what happens Monday. I wonder how Camila and the others will react when they meet Rosario and learn the truth.

Friday was such an episode, and it looks like Isadora is going to be in a lot of problems.

Don't miss tomorrow's episode, amigos!

I added Inaki to the Bodas Interrumpi discussion; that ended up with the most photos because of how it played. ENDA is a novela I might watch again when it's shown again.

Thanks again to my BB's (blogging buds) for the kind words. Seems I pack up and unload on Fridays everything I've been unable to chat about earlier in the week when I write the recap.
==========
Gawd, VR is definitely wet mop wringable, but I sort of think she's met her match with this Rosario actress. LOL!
===========
I like Nanette's idea of inviting the new neighborette to din-din over at LaB. Cayatonto would have to be masochistic to the hilt or totally senile not to realized the type of crap to hit the fan--but what a scenario!!

Jardinera - Thanks. Love the recap.

Nanette - Thanks for the list. Helps me keep up.

At last, Rosario is talking. From the previews, it looks like Monday the padre will take her to Camila. Yay!

Never thought I'd say this but I'm glad Leoncio is back in play, so he can sink Hissadora. But I'm also afraid for Luzma, Piedad, and Daniel if/when he gets on the loose.

Like the phone conversation between Camila and Gussie when Camila told her Ximena's accident was no accident. Camila accepts her mother for who she is and doesn't hold Gussie's foolishness against her.

If "los avances" are not a piecemeal hodgepodge meant to throw us off the track for Monday, then I surmise that the padre may suggest Rosario tells what she knows at least to CnD. That would keep the discovery ball rolling.

Jardinera- I love how much fun you have with these weekend recaps. Part two was just as wonderful as part one.

Nanette- Yet another great list. I also like your idea for Cayetonto inviting Isa to BV. Rocio would not let that happen quietly. WWIII would break out. LOL!

The whole Gussy moving into Dio’s place was interesting because it was the exact opposite of what happened when Dio moved into the ranch. Gussy went out of his way to make Dio feel welcomed and a part of the family—not just a part, but the HEAD of the family (yeah right!). She moved them into the master bedroom, made sure the servants knew all his likes/dislikes, and even gave him the head seat at the dining table. Now, as she moves into his town house, he makes it seem like she’s some bothersome house guest who will only be there temporarily. Open your eyes Gussy! Niecie- I also like how Cami handles her mother, and she was very kind to offer that she come to her and Dan’s house whenever she wants.

Even though Chayo has been driving me crazy for a few episodes now, at least she’s getting things done—even if slowly. The envelope is now in Becerra’s office, and I don’t think his assistant will let it go unopened for long. And Chayo purposely went to speak with Padre A, who she knows is associated with Al’s peeps.

Jardinera- Thanks for giving us the details of the Al-Chayo conversation. It took him a while to convince her to kill him, but I definitely saw his point about this being the best thing. We still haven’t seen the part of the conversation when they came to agreement on whatever is in the envelope and what to do with it. Obviously, they spoke for quite a while, which makes me glad because it means that Chayo had some real bonding time with her only child before he died.

That's "Gussy went out of HER way to make Dio feel welcomed."

Another little cute scene I liked was at the dining table at Vivi’s. As Cami wolfs down the delicious lunch, Dan and Rafa celebrate the fact that there is once again REAL cooking and food at Vivi’s, now that Rafa has returned. Then Cami tries to sweet talk Dan and asks if he also cooks (hint, hint). Rafa says Dan doesn’t cook as well as he does. Cami is obviously disappointed. I so like this turnaround of usual gender roles.

I should add about Chayo, that although her nervous dithering and crying drives me crazy, I am also impressed by how ALIKE she and Alonso are. I don't know if the writers/actors are doing this on purpose, but I can totally see these two as being mother and son-- they have so many of the same habits and tendencies. Al got his bad heart from Daddy, his Nervous Nelly traits from Mommy Chayo, and his grasping greedy tendencies from MamaDora. But there was always a bit of good buried deep in him, and I think that comes from Chayo. Had he grown up with her affection, love and care, I think he would have been a good person.

UA - "llorathon"
snort!

Vivi, when I was watching the scene of Alonso and Rosario talking, I thought how much they actually look like mother and son and thought what good casting that was.

Why doesn't Dion want Natalia and Aggie to see each other at the house? I didn't think he cared that anyone knows she works for him.

I think that's about the gossip potential. If Natalia wanted to keep Amanda in the dark about whom she worked for it would be risky for anyone who knows Amanda to find out.

Cathyx- He wanted to keep Nat working for him a secret, just as much as Nat did. His goal was to win Nat over slowly, without Amanda knowing. If Gussy or anyone else found out, then Amanda would hear about it quickly. Now he has to change tactics, since he now believes Amanda found out and is forbidding Nat to work for him.

Cathyx- Oh, and to your earlier question about why Dio wanted Nat to have driving lessons...Rich people know how to drive. Any daughter of Dio's should know how to drive. Plus, a car is one of the biggest/most luxurious gifts you can give someone. Yet another way he can impress her and win/buy her love.

Vivi: Glad you took up the cooking scene and expanded. By the time I get to that side of the 30 min. mark I figure I just have to take what's less "superfluous" so to speak and let some stuff go, tho' it did add to the camaraderie aspect and the differing trend of the Amazon experience of the 21st century. Nothing wrong with amateur chefs by me! Both hubby and son are that and hija and me are basic getterdone's. ; ? ))

LoriLoo - Thank you for the clarification on what PB can do with the confession info. I sure hope he can find a way to use it without Chayo getting in trouble.

All I could think when Cami told Gussie she didn't need to call was that I hope she doesn't walk in during Dan&Cam bedroom antics (since they have more room now, and the camera seems to concentrate on the living room in that house, I figure that "bedroom time" could spread throughout the house). On the other hand, Gussie's like a child. She could benefit from "growing up" seeing an example of a respectful, loving couple.

Jardinera- I guess because Abismo was on right before AB in the same timeslot, I keep comparing the two in my mind. All of these scenes of Rafa (and Aaron) cooking/fixing food for their amigos warms my heart when I remember pathetic Paloma slaving away in the kitchen to win the heart of her reluctant husband Gael. The fact that she DOES eventually win his heart still bugs me. There were so many wrong messages sent to young women with that storyline-- use sex, a baby, whining, tears, cooking, and subservience and eventually you'll win over your man.

I hope that when Camila and Daniel get La Malquerida back they take over the master bedroom and put a lock on the door.

Yeah, inviting Gussy over "anytime" could be a little dangerous, as often as Cami and Dan go into affectionate mode. Just the other day Cami was commenting to Vivi that Vivi and Rafa need their privacy to "disfrutar" just like she and Dan do. :)

Anyone else notice that Vivi's and Rafa's clothes are coordinated? Camel colored vests and dark brown shirts underneath-- she's wearing a brown and tan skirt and he's wearing tan cargo pants. One night of nookie and they're already wearing matching outfits!

Thanks for livening up the weekend with this great recap Jardinera.

Maybe I'm too impatient and insensitive... but that's it? "Kill me"? Alonso, you selfish, whiny little cockroach. No revealing little chat with Comandante Juarez? No incriminating messages?

Alonzo, you were a screwup in life and you managed to even screw up your death.

Even so, I sure hope that we see you again soon in another TN.

Carlos

Carlos, not sure how closely you are watching this TN, but Alonso did leave proof.

Awesome recap, Jardinera!

Carlos, I too have lamented that Alonso was so ineffective in his vengeance. Unless Rosario has a BIG card up her sleeve, it seems Alonso did exactly what he didn't want to do: Gave Isa power and the ranch and let her get away with murder.

Hey, Aaron! No need to take a full deck of flash cards to class with Leo! Just the letters I-S-A-D-O-R (you can use the A twice!). And some colored pens to work on Leo's drawing skills. I'm no artist but if you gave me a pen and paper I could draw Isadora AND several of her safari outfits, NO TROUBLE!

I keep telling myself the more Isa gloats, the sweeter the vengeance will be in the end.

Thanks again, Jardinera and thanks Nanette for the awesome list! Oh and thanks Vivi, mi vecina. I love that you know things like "Rich people know how to drive!" Interesante!

Katy

LOL Katy! Indeed in other countries, knowing how to drive and owning a car is a symbol of wealth, particularly for women. Of course, those with money can choose not to drive and have a personal driver-- like Cami and Gussy.

Thanks so much for the recap Jardinera!!! I hope to catch up on the episodes eventually. Thanks for the tip HellaShelle. I'll do that at some point.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Rafa/Vivi scenes. I think that they are a cute couple.

My husband just joked that I wasn't working when he saw me pull up this site. But now he understands since I watched it daily while I was in the states. So at least he understands my need to find out what is happening.

I wonder if Pablo will tell Mariano about Isa's plans? Since Cayetano is a bull-man, won't he think it strange that Isa is changing the nature of the ranch? Doesn't that take her down a notch? Or is so blinded by her beauty and their "affair" that he just doesn't care? I like the "Cayetonto" nickname!

Thanks again for the recap and the comments.

Hmmm. Perhaps we'll get these mystery convo's trickling out over the next 6-7 or 10 wks. through flashbacks.

Sorry, but it took all the effort in the world to rerun those hospital flashbacks of Alonso complete with snot, tearing bloodshot eyes, and 24/7 5:00 shadow on jaundiced-looking skin-- and all just for an intelligible recap. Blechhhh!

cathyx,

Yes, of course I realize that Alonzo has probably left behind enough proof to ultimately cook Isadora's goose. I was castigating him for not using the opportunity he had to sink Isadora and likely Dionysio as well as get get Daniel his ranch back. He put his mother at risk of losing her nursing license (if not worse) by convincing her to euthanize him.

Perhaps worst of all, he utilized his last breaths on this earth to snivel.

Carlos

There are too many episodes left for Hissadora's goose to be cooked this soon. I'm also sure there is another flashback or two with stuff we don't yet know.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments about my list. I would have posted earlier, but it's a pain to do it from my phone and I don't like to turn my computer on at home, if I can help it, since I find myself playing Solitaire and Tetris all day long. :)

and it's so much healthier to make up nicknames about tn characters, and criticize their wardrobe, and watch people cry for hours on end, if they don't get killed first, and pine away for that other tn. At least we aren't alone!

Brrrrrrr

RlO: ITA--so much more fun!
