Amor Bravío #112 (Uni 107) Thu 1/24/13 Amor…¿qué digo "amor"? ¡Es odio!

Snotty Bitch is being kicked out and Cayetano won't budge.  Mariano tries to talk him out of it, but Cayetano says there's no way he'll back down--not only is he the head of the family and owner of the ranch, he's the offended party!  Everyone looks sick and worried, except for Ileana who's grinning a little bit.  Mariano can't get him to calm down.  Yes, Cayetano, calm down so Isadora has a chance to kill you herself…once she's got her hands on your ranch.

Dionisio, talking with the La Malquerida office door open, calls Isadora to tell her that the letters got into Cayetano's hands after all.  Eluterio is inside the house, for some strange reason, so he gets to overhear Dionisio's end of the convo.  Isadora gloats that Camila helped her out after all. Dio gets up to shut the door, but he never sees Eluterio.  Eluterio continues listening through the closed door as Dionisio talks about how they were wrong to think La Malquerida was an easy target, with nothing but an old man, a woman, and a depressed girl, while La Buenaventura was guarded by four men.  Dio lets slip Isadora's name.  Isa is busy bragging about how easily men are led around by the penis.  She's confident in her continued ability to do so. Dionisio thought bubbles that he won't let Camila marry Daniel and he'll keep fighting until Camila is his.

Snotty Bitch keeps trying to plead her case, but Cayetano won't have any of it. Now he's talking divorce, and too bad if she doesn't like it.  "If I prove Pablo isn't my son, I don't know what I'll do!"  Mariano counsels her to accept the decision, but he says he'll take care of her.  Yago tells her to take Mariano's deal, because he never wants to see her again either.

Camila comes into Agustina's room.  Augie wants an update about Mariano.  She figures it must have been terrible to find out the truth.  She passes on the news about Dionisio's daughter.  Camila lets slip that she already knew, and she knew it was Natalia.  She explains that Amanda didn't want anyone to know, because she didn't want Dionisio to find out.  So much for their truce, as Agustina complains that Camila didn't tell her and Camila snarks back that Agustina never believes what she says about Dionisio anyway, so why bother?  Agustina thinks this confirms that Dio told her the truth.  Camila tries to tell her that Dionisio lied to her about not knowing he had a child.  "Natalia had already been born when Amanda left him."  Agustina won't even let her finish, prompting Camila to give a big, hearty, "See what I mean?!" Augie agrees to SHUT IT long enough to listen to Camila before she decides what's true and what's not. Camila tells her about Dio being married to Amanda under the name Hector Gutierrez.

Dio goes out to burn his old passport, saying that no one can know that Hector Gutierrez existed and vows that Amanda will never be able to prove he was Hector.

Augie, predictably, doesn't believe it.  She remembers Amanda telling her that she was once married to a great guy who she didn't know anything about.  Brushing off her memory, she claims Amanda must be saying all this out of jealousy, that Dio married her instead of marrying Amanda when he was younger.  Augie has her special diamond-encrusted platinum-coated titanium beanie on as she blissfully floats down DENIAL, talking smack about how Dio gets dibs on their trust for being one of the family and Camila shouldn't believe anyone who's not part of the family over him.

Pablo pulls in at La Malquerida.  Luzma's not feeling well and Pablo insists on carrying her in while Hipolito gets the bags.  Pablo comes up with Luzma, and they explain to Piedad what's going on.  As he stands there.  Holding Luzma.  Acting like she doesn't weigh more than five pounds.  And oh, look, they're going to take her to her room, which is back the way they came, so he just carried her down a hallway to carry her back the same hallway, cause he can do that with whatever he's been hiding under those vests.  Mr. 5ft and I wonder if maybe they had Luzma rigged with a harness or some giant invisible helium balloons, but I'm forced to conclude that Eddy Vilard is just far more buff than the wardrobe department has been letting on.

Eluterio goes to the kitchen to tell Dorotea what he overheard.  And he sure did catch on to the part where Dio said they hadn't been able to get La Malquerida, but they were going after La Buenaventura instead.  Between the two of them, they decide not to give this info to Daniel, since they want him to enjoy his honeymoon and they don't think Dio's going to be able to accomplish anything while he's away. They'll tell Daniel after the honeymoon and after things settle down.

Cayetano meets with Isadora and tells her she was right about Snotty Bitch.  He's also pissed at her for how willing she was to trash someone else to try to keep from taking the blame.  He praises Isadora for her openness and says he'll be grateful to her forever.  Good, cause "forever" won't be more than a few days at the rate you're going, pal.  He tells Isadora he's getting a divorce, he kicked her out, and he wants Isadora to stick around and stay by his side during this terrible ordeal.  She asks about his sons, but, well, Pablo might not be, and since Mariano is going to look after Snotty Bitch, Cayetano doesn't think he can trust him anymore.  He's left only with Yago, who he doesn't yet realize is just being a suck-up to try to finally get in Cayetano's good graces.  Pobre de Yago…he finally wins the "Favorite Son" title, but only after all other contestants have been disqualified.  Isadora figures Yago will also go off and have his own life soon.  Isa vows to always be by his side.

Snotty Bitch won't let Nana pack more than a few days' worth of clothes.  She vows she'll be coming back.  Mariano tells her not to get her hopes up and pack everything.  Snotty Bitch is now pissed at him for telling Camila what happened, and she refuses to believe Camila's actions had anything to do with defending her dead uncle's honor.  "She was trying to get revenge!"  Mariano won't let her abdicate responsibility.  Nana begs Snotty Bitch to cut it out already.  "You're the only one responsible for what happened here, so stop playing the victim."  Mariano says he'll put her up in a hotel and when Ana comes back from Zacatecas and the house is ready, they can all go live there, including Nana if she wants to.  He leaves and tells Snotty Bitch to let him know when she's ready to leave.

Ileana comes to mock Yago for his mother's behavior.  Yago's busy drinking and getting ready to kick Yago out of La Buenaventura.  Natalia calls and he actually answers it, for once, but starts copping an attitude immediately, telling her he has problems too, so he's not in the mood.  Ileana laughs at the secretary for being impertinent.  Yago tells Ileana she's not the only one as he hands her the empty shot glass.

Dio is busy looking over more of his fake passports when Agustina comes into the office without knocking to gripe at him for being the last to know about Natalia.  Dio is shocked to find out that Camila and Daniel already knew, and that Amanda told Daniel that she was married to Dio while he was using another name.  Dio explodes and asks if she's really going to believe all that crap…which, of course, she isn't (The one-and-only Televisa-approved Titanium beanie, ladies and gentlemen…witness its stunning deflective capabilities...now only 166 easy payments of $19.95!)…she's just hurt because everyone else knew.  Dio accuses Amanda of defaming him and whines that no one else is being hurt but him, damnit!

Camila brushes Maja while she tells Daniel that her talk with Agustina went…well, about as badly as could be expected. Daniel is trying to hack into Alonso's email and has another failed attempt just as Pieded bursts in.  She tells them that Luzma is back and why and they all rush off to see her.

Snotty Bitch is all packed and ready to go. Yago visits her room to have a drunken temper tantrum about his cheating mother.  Ileana listens in from the hallway as Yago continues his ranting.  He finally calls his mama a ho and gets slapped into the middle of next week for it.  Cayetano comes in for a last sneer.  He wants to know where she's staying, but only so he can send his lawyer to visit about the divorce.

Luzma is sad about the missed honeymoon and Pablo not being able to stay with her.  Daniel and Camila come in to check on Luzma.  Daniel tells her they're sorry, and Camila says they'll all take good care of her.  Camila insists Pablo and Luzma take Ximena's old room.  Piedad is worried about what Agustina and Dionisio will say, but Camila gets her to agree.

Snotty Bitch is still trying to plead, but Cayetano won't budge and he's going to insist on Pablo taking that DNA test as soon as he's back from his honeymoon.  Ileana is still out in the hallway eavesdropping and gloating.  Cayetano turns on Nana, saying it's good she's leaving so he won't have to fire her.  He's sure she's been covering for Snotty Bitch all these years.  Nana has just had enough already, damnit, so you're damn right she's going, but first, she's going to tell the WHOLE story, so grab your popcorn, kids!  Snotty Bitch tries to shut her up, but Nana can't take it any more.  "You know part of the truth, but you need to know the rest.  Yes, Mrs. Rocio and I know who Pablo's father is.  Pablo's real father is Daniel Monterde.  He never knew Mrs. Rocio was expecting his child."  Caras de impactados all around…except for Snotty Bitch's usual combination panicky/snotty look.

Eleuterio and Rodolfo go into town.  They're talking and joking about their girlfriends and being faithful, and Eleuterio jokes he may not be very good at it.  Rodolfo sees Natalia walking across the square and takes off to go talk to her, leading Eleuterio to joke that Rodolfo must not be very good at that whole "faithful" thing either.

Natalia tries to say nothing's wrong, but she cracks and ends up crying in his arms.

Cayetano backhands Snotty Bitch and calls her a ho.  This is too much for even Yago.  He looks horrified.  Cayetano keeps spewing bile and ends up demanding that Mariano get him something they can use for the DNA test.  Mariano refuses, out of loyalty to his mother, Nana, and Pablo.  Cayetano says he'll do it himself, then, but he won't be sensitive about it…he'll go find Pablo and interrupt his honeymoon.  He needs to proof of his wife's infidelity to get rid of her once and for all.  Nana begs him not to ruin Pablo's honeymoon.  Cayetano tells her to shut up and calls her an "india ladina," which shocks both me and Yago.  Yago tells his dad to quit slinging insults around already.  He agrees that it wouldn't be good to ruin Pablo's wedding.  They all beg Mariano to take care of it, so he agrees.  Cayetano screams at him to do it ASAP.

So, where to begin with "india ladina"…my cc translated it correctly as "sly indian" but that doesn't quite capture the depth of the insult.  His tone and Yago's shock do a much better job of that.  He doesn't mean "sly" as in "wise," he means "sneaky" or "deceitful."  As for "india," that comes with as much baggage as most racial/ethnic epithets, but it almost has more sting because it's coming from a guy who, in all likelihood, doesn't have 100% pure Spanish blood himself.  By virtue of his social status, he gets to scrub out or ignore the part of his lineage that he traces back to the native population of what became Mexico, and gets to fling around the insult to anyone who he considers beneath him.  It's that whole ethnic/socioeconomic thing that gets all tied up together, when really most of the population of Mexico is a mix of Spanish and native.  So stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Cayetano.

Camila and Daniel talk about Luzma and Pablo moving into the house and how Agustina's not going to like it because she's a snob.  Daniel mentions that "they" hired Hipolito.  Camila gives him a hard time about that, since she can't seem to recall having hired Hipolito….  Daniel admits he couldn't say "no" to Piedad.  Camila is thrilled with it, though, since she thinks Hipolito has a thing for Piedad.   "Oh, don't you just feel the love vibes floating through the ranch?"  Shut up, Camila!  Way to jinx it!    Daniel says they can't change the name of the ranch, out of respect for her uncle, but he can at least make sure that Camila is never "la malquerida" again…he'll make sure she gets plenty of good, good lovin'…starting right now…in the daytime….

With Mariano and Yago still sitting in the room, in shock, Snotty Bitch cries that Nana shouldn't have ratted her out.  Ileana, drawn to the negative emotions swirling around the room, can't help but peek through the door with a delighted expression.  She can't understand why Nana would do that. Nana says her conscience just wouldn't let her stay quiet any longer.  Mariano thinks she did the right thing…and also that they should go now so that when I'm recapping next Thursday's episode they're not still sitting there, cause he knows that would piss me off.  I mean, at least make it as far as the driveway by next week, please.  Yago is very disappointed in his mother.  Really?  We had no idea.  He storms out, making Ileana scurry back to her original post around the corner.  Snotty Bitch turns on the waterworks, begging Mariano to never abandon her.  He says she'd better quit with the lies, then, cause he doesn't want to hear any more of them!

Yago and Cayetano mourn together.  Yago continues his campaign to topple Pablo from his throne.

Ileana Skypes with her mom to tell her that she really dodged a bullet with Pablo.  Mama was actually ready to call Ileana back home, but Ileana's having way too much fun and she's sure she can find some way to turn it all to her advantage.

Agustina is pissed about Luzma moving into the house.  A predictable argument ensues.  Camila tells Agustina and Dionisio that she and Daniel are considering giving Pablo part of the ranch if they get proof that Pablo is a Monterde.  A predictable argument ensues.  Camila plays the "Natalia" card, saying of course they're going to welcome Pablo into their house as Don Daniel's son…just like they're going to welcome Natalia, right?

Rodolfo has now heard the story and he believes Amanda's version.  He believes Dionisio's hiding something.  On the other hand, people love Amanda because she helps out and she's kind.  Rodolfo says with his eyes closed, he'd pick her mom.  Natalia is surprised to hear that Rodolfo likes her mom so much.  Well, Amanda is cool and Dionisio is…not.  Rodolfo tells her to think about how sad and alone Amanda must have been when she left Dio.  He tells her not to screw up her relationship with her mom.

Cayetano's lawyer advises him to hand over La Buenaventura to someone who will give the property back after the divorce, that way Snotty Bitch can't get half.  Do you see where this is going?  Cause Cayetano goes directly to Isadora.  The idiot!  The lawyer tells him to get the ball rolling ASAP.

Tomorrow: Camila and Daniel's wedding is sure to be interrupted by Dio and Isadora's plotting.

Posting this without proofreading...I got started much later than I expected to...and then there was some kind of fruit juice with some rum...anyway, I'll see y'all in the morning. When hopefully I will wake to realize that Isadora was only daydreaming aboout Cayetano handing over the ranch "temporarily."

Yeah, I can dream.

When I came across "india ladina" I had to look up "ladina" because I forgot what it meant. I consulted 2 dictionaries and found the most common meaning is "sly,", "wily," "cunning." One dictionary said it also refers to a "mestizo" or a "Spanish-speaking Indian (often used to refer to Indians who adopt Spanish ways.)" The other said that when capitalized, it refers to "Judezmo, a Romance language of Jews." And then I read your next paragraph!

Any way you look at it Refugio should slap Cayetonto into the next millennium. I hope she's around when Hissadora manages to take everything from him.

Kat- I was looking forward to reading this recap, since I know how you feel about Rocio, and she certainly got her comeuppance this episode! You did not disappoint. The recap was brilliant.

I also appreciated you giving the deeper significance of the insult Cayetonto slung at Refugio. This guys is just digging his grave-- deeper and faster each episode. Elu and Doro are certain Isa and Dio won't be able to get their hands on BV any time soon, but it looks like it will be easier than taking candy from a distracted baby. What a fool Cayetonto is!

I think they better tell Pablo what's going on before some rancher makes a rude comment to him about it while they're negotiating bulls. Iliana's mom was very eager to get the gossip out to their circle (considering what a hypocrite Rocio has been with other women of their class who didn't measure up morally), so I will give it a week before all the ranchers within 500 miles of Aculco know.

Loved your riff on Pablo/Eddie's hidden buffness, because I was thinking the same thing! Luzma/Mariana is not a tiny girl, and he made it look like she weighed nothing. She sweetly told him that she loved him when he picked her up in his arms and carried her from the car to the house. Awwww!

Gussy, Gussy...One tiny step forward, and three HUGE steps back. Dan's temple rub, rolling eyes, and big old sigh while Cami tried to make Gussy see sense about Pablo and Luzma moving into the big house cracked me up. And I liked how fiery he got when he told Dio and Gussy that Cami's the boss lady and what she decides is what will be. How two freeloaders like Gussy and Dio think they have a right to an opinion is beyond me. If I were Cami and Dan I would have pointed that out. But I enjoyed Cami going the classy route and using the Natalia card, as you said. Dio and Gussy couldn't argue with that. Dan had the cutest smug look on his face when Cami brought that up.

Speaking of Nat, I loved how gentle and loving Rod was with her. I think she also began to see him in a new light during their talk. She mentioned how she didn't realize he was so observant. Come on Nat! Rod has a lot of depth underneath that pretty surface.

5ft. --

What a funny, wonderful recap! Titanium beanies on sale from Televisa - inspired. I, too, hope that the departing Rocio and Nana make it to the driveway before next week.

Daniel's comments about social class certainly ring true in this episode. All the nasty class, racial and other prejudices are popping out in Malquerida and Buenaventura. Much more Bienquerida needed.

I think that Rocio is every negative thing we have said about her. However, Cayetano deserves a special place in novela hell for his treatment of her and Refugio in front of the sons that they raised. So much for the traditional values and customs that someone like Cayetano would seem to embrace. But, Cayetano is about to get his . . . .

Yes, Sue, let's hope that Refugio gets to witness the grand scam that wasn't much of a scam given how easily Cayetano has fallen to Isadora's charms.

Meanwhile, we see real manliness and respect for women again from Daniel, Pablo and, now, Rudolfo joins the pantheon with his tender treatment of Natalia and defense of her mother.

With everyone yesterday, I hate to see this novela come to an end (and it won't for a while!). After a great novela like this, others pale for a while. Here's to our collective hopes for some other good ones coming down the line.

Stay warm and dry, fellow east coasters.

Great work, Kat.

If Refugio were to slap Cayetano into the next millennium I'd be right there behind her. I'm still waiting to be able to do that to Bratgirl, who is just gloating over all this. Rodolfo should dump her on her skanky arse because he deserves not only a better novia but a better set of inlaws.

Eleuterio had better be smart enough to spill the beans to the right person over what he eavesdropped on. Camila needs to know that El Diablo is still in cahoots with Mama Dragon.

Camila and Daniel need to warn Mariano who is the only Albarran with his head on straight in this situation. Poor Pablo is still in the dark but at the rate things are going he will know shortly.

Since there is no fool like an old one, Cayetano was an easy set-up. I'm wondering whether Hissadora boinked the lawyer sometime off-camera. We've gotten surprises like that before.

Thanks 5 ft for so many good points. Snotty bitch got even less than she deserved. Cayo should have spit in her face after stomping her fat a$$ a few times. A man will stray, but that doesn't compare to Rocio's betrayal of the entire family. Can you imagine the effect this devastating news will have on darling little Ana and our dear Pablo. Poor Mariano was so hurt even as he managed to hide his "you're dispicable" expression. Now there's the danger that Snotty bitch's presence will upset sweet Luzma who suppose to rest quietly. I love Refugio. She's so cute when she gets so dramatic that her eyes pop out and she has a voice that demands respect. I'm so glad she's always around to listen in and give much needed advice to everyone.
OK, I just had to get that off my chest.

Thanks for the insightful recap. I don't think I've ever read "led around by the penis" before in my life.

They are making Cayetano a very unsympathetic character now. Guess we won't feel so bad when Isa pulls an Isa on him.

I bristle whenever I hear the Indio/a word. I heard it in CME and El Tal and now AB. I wish they wouldn't.

5ft, you always keep me laughing, and Mr.5ft comments are always too cute. Thanks for the recap.

Cayetano's reactions are unfortunately what one would expect. Carrying on in front of his children is a manifestation of his shame and anger and his way of showing who's the boss and who still has control after being made a cuckold of. I would not expect anything less of him, especially since he believes that Issa would be interested in him for more than his money. UA, my grandmother always said the same, "there is no fool like an old one". That being said, I have little sympathy for Rocio who is insensitive, selfish and happy to throw everyone under the bus.

Pablo is just the best, super-strength pecs and all. There is no way to compare Yago and Rodolfo. Ro wins the race in every respect, let's hope that Natalia doesn't take too long to see this.

I still miss XI and Alonso, but Issa and Dio play their parts sooo well, loved how Dio insisted that he was the one that was hurt.

Yola

Wow. I LOVE THIS TN! ABCD = BestTN!!!

5ft - that was a great recap! you had me rolling with the "166 payments of $199.5"! And ITA on the description of Pablo carrying Luz into the house. I too was like WTQ? Where did that strength come from??! Uuf! So hot :)

What the crap was SB talking about when she said Camila only brought the letters over to get revenge on her? Um, what? For what, loca? By "Revenge" do you mean calling you out on your BS with proof of ur lies? Idiot. If that loon has anything else to pull out of her a$$, I'll be completely shocked. She, Dio, Isa and Caye should be locked in a room together to see who can out delude the other.

Caye, Caye, Caye...I can't even think of something equivalent to your insult to Nana that can come back to smack you in the face. Maybe one day when Isa going down, she loudly, publicly ridicules you for your extreme dumba$$ness in front of everyone you know? I mean seriously dude. You know that as soon as she got MQ, she sold it. And you not only give her a hitlist of family members she needs to take out, you hand her 50% of your stuff. Genius.

Ooh Illy. You totally lost my vote. There is no redemption for you. And when Dolfo drops you for Nat and calls you out on ur selfish, metiche self I hope you get laughed out of Dodge.

I get that Camila wants to give Pablo his proper place, but I'm not sure that Pab and Luz will be more comfortable in the house. All those steps, far from her mom's room and most importantly with TweedleDio and TweedleDum(Tina) in the house...

Oh Agustina. I want to keep giving you the benefit of the doubt, but then you do dumb crap like remember the convo with Amanda as I hoped you would...but then ignore it! And then claim that talking to her would be rebajarte?! Aye mujer...Now you're prob gonna talk smack about Agatha and Rocio having affairs and I'm gonna have to get in line to smack you. Sigh...

Dan, close your computer, Dio is roaming the grounds! Ever since Cami left her divorce papers on that desk and Isa stole them, I've been hoping all Scoobies would think to lock up their evidence (and lock their doors), but it doesn't look like they've learned. Hopefully it won't matter in this case.

Finally Nat and Rudolfo! Chica better take note that Yago can't be bothered to answer the phone 80% of the time, and when he does he's rude and cold knowing everything that's up with her while Rudolfo will run across the street just because she looks a little down. Reacciona Nat!

Yago's pathetic. And I love Cam and Dan. Even when they're supporting characters to the drama, they're awesome. Their adorable scene and the way he stood up with her in his arms (are we sure he and Pablo aren't related?) made me want to become Cami. And I am NOT an animal person. Wistful sigh. Can we petition a part 2 for this novela?

Thanks for another great recap, Kat.

Belated thanks also to Paquita and Mena for your great recaps for Tue and Wed episodes.

I have real difficulty coming up with things to add to the discussion of this well done TN. There simply aren't any truly controversial characters to have disagreements over, especially now that Alonzo and Ximena are gone.

I was hoping that Natalia might be about to take a stroll on the darkside but I'm afraid that Rudolfo may have jinxed that last night.

Maybe Miriam's imminent resurrection will serve to divide us up into feuding factions. I will declare here and now that I'm on Team Miriam.

Carlos

Two quick comments before I read the recap and comments.

From the avances: I didn't understand what Mariano said, but I heard him say "Camila". I think it's time for Teresa to come back so he can start focusing his attention elsewhere.

FINALLY!!! Rodolfo is in the right place at the right time.

Nanette

I found that a$$ Cayetonto's comment to Nana to be so cruel and beyond insulting. The actress did a wonderful job conveying the hurt the insult caused. She displayed both the physical and emotional hurt in that scene. I think that for her, she was coming to the realisation that this is what this smelly old man had thought of her all of these years...all of those years of service to that family.

The fat old smelly disgusting fool just continued on with his rage totally ignoring the words that came out of his mouth. Yep. He was cuckolded, but what he is doing by literally handing over his heritage to the whore known as Hissadora isn't much better than what his ugly, nasty, hateful, class conscious witch of a wife did.

...and Agustina...man oh man...how stupid can a person be?! I can't wait for her to have the insurance scam hit her hard (Camila will likely come to her rescue) and for Cayetonto to lose EVERYTHING.

Kat: So many great lines. Here’s some of my favs:

“Pobre de Yago…he finally wins the "Favorite Son" title, but only after all other contestants have been disqualified.”

“Shut up, Camila! Way to jinx it! “

Laugh out loud moment: “Mariano thinks she did the right thing…and also that they should go now so that when I'm recapping next Thursday's episode they're not still sitting there, cause he knows that would piss me off. I mean, at least make it as far as the driveway by next week, please.”

And thanks for the explanation about the gravity of the insult to Nana.

Didn’t Gussie say something to Dio about it being her house when he told her to knock before entering the study?

Did I catch Rodolfo calling Nat “Nati”? Cute.

I know I’m in the minority, but I’m a little on Ileana’s side re: gloating about the situation at La B. The way she’s been treated by Yago and Rocio. Rocio wasn’t too nice about it when Yago revealed Illy was seeing Rodolfo. She still a little witch. I am looking forward to seeing what she's going to do with this new development.

I can also see where Yago is coming from, too. It can’t be easy to know that one of your brothers is the obvious favorite and then to find out that brother is actually not his father’s son. I don’t like him and he doesn’t get a pass on how he treats people, especially Nat, but I understand his reaction to the situation.

Cayetano glad that Nana is going so he can’t fire her? As if she would stay there.

I like that in this TN, it’s the good guys doing the eavesdropping.

Well, Dio, maybe Amanda herself can’t prove that you were Hector whatever, but the Scoobies together can.

I've been trying to defend Agustina, but last night she was given anoher chance to demonstrate a willingness to check things out. I can see how she would believe Dio, but now that there is potential evidence against him that she's ignoring, and refusing to investigate, I can't be anything but exasperated. Knowing that people have been claiming he's un patan, knowing that Cami has her doubts, knowing he was mixed up with Al and Isa, she still refuses to talk to Amanda, she didn't even ask Cam and Dan about the glasses in the study, she hasn't thought to check with a lawyer (any lawyer, doesn't have to be Os) about any of the implications?

Speaking of the avances, did I see Rocio try to slap Isa in them? I thought I saw Isa catch the arm of a short blond, but it was a superquick shot.

One more thing...it was wrong...very wrong of Cayetonto to hit Rocio. Yes, she is a piece of trash, but what he did was wrong and I was so very glad to see that BOTH brothers thought it wrong. That physically hard slap to Rocio did bother me. Come on. How many years have passed since the affair and he needs to come at her with a left hook now?

I'd really like to know why their marriage was having so much difficulty. I seriously doubt that Cayetonto was as pure as the driven snow back then. This blaming of one person for all the difficulties in a marriage is just wrong. He had his part in the marriage, too.

Great recap 5ft thanks.
Well, Roccio certainly got her due (and more) for her sins of the past. Because I used to work with abused women where that type of treatment was a “no, no”, her payback seemed harsh and a bit much. Even Mariano her only ally seemed more “tolerant” and judgmental "as if acting out of obligation rather than being really supportive. Needless to say, with everyone else against her, my heart went out to her in a way that I won’t even try to explain. So, please don’t stone me or kick me out of viewerville for not going with the flow: -)

Thanks so much, Kat, for another marvellous recap with abundant Kat gems. Like many folks who have already commented, I loved your description of Agustina's "special diamond-encrusted platinum-coated titanium beanie" and Viewerville's opportunity to buy special Televisa-approved copies for a mere $19.95 per episodio.

Kat, I don't think you'll have to worry about SB and company still sitting around by the time you recap again next Thursday. Isa's plan to take over Buenaventura is progressing faster than even she probably imagined. I fear that she'll have moved in and be well on her way to being la dueña by your next recap. Indeed, I suspect that she'll have a much more successful run at Buenaventura than she did at La Malquerida. Her undoing probably won't come until Alonso's recording surfaces, along with Leoncerdo's learning to write. Since we still have a number of episodios left in this TN, I suspect that those developments won't occur all that quickly. (Although, given my track record on predictions, smart money should probably bet on the opposite of whatever I say!)

HellaShelle, I too was VERY nervous when Dan went racing out of the room with Cam without even closing his computer, not to mention locking it away. I was pretty sure that he'd come back to find that either it was gone or it was no longer open. (See what I mean about predictions?)

I've never been a great fan of Rodolfo--he has always seemed too wooden to be really attractive--but I was delighted with the way he treated Natalia last night. And coming right after yet another callous brushoff by Iago, I'm hoping Natalia begins to come to what's left of her senses.

As for Ileana--[expletives deleted].

Pablo is no weakling. Eddy Vilard was a soccer player about to be drafted by the ARG pro team when he got injured. So those legs are really strong.

Rocio had her affair when she & Cayote were separated. I'm sure he was a true monk during that time. He deserves a special place in Isa hell.

Both Rocio & Caye treated Refugio horribly. Either Mariano or Pablo would be happy to have her.

I am wondering whether -- back in the day -- Cayetano realized that Rocio married him for his bank account rather than for love. We haven't been told why their marriage was in trouble but we can speculate on that one with or without the possibility that he cheated on her first.

But she would have mentioned that by now.

Not to worry Foxy, I'm sure most of viewerville does not condone Cay's abuse of his wife, Refugio or his sons as he trys to save face, nor do we condone abuse in any form, so we feel you in that respect. The writers and actors did a good job in creating odious chracters so that we would feel no sympathy or waver when they got their just deserts.

Yola

Yola is spot on, Foxy, I think everyone agrees with you that Caye shouldn't have backhanded her. Her comeuppance is pretty brutal so I'm gonna spend a minute on the harshness. The big thing that jumped out at me was when Caye said she wasn't worth anything. I thought that was over the top. I mean the woman did give him two beautiful children and stood by his side over many, many years. Like those before me, I doubt he was blanca paloma todos estos anos. I originally thought he was running around on Rocio back in the day, but I think UA's right and she would've thrown that out there by now. Wouldn't it be a twist if NG was his daughter that he never knew about? I know it's far more likely that she'll cause romantic trouble for PabLuz, but I loathe to have those two go through anymore trials.

Thanks, 5Ft, you always make me laugh out loud, and I love to laugh out loud. Thank you!

For the rest of what I was going to say, just read Vivi's first comment.

Juanita: "I too was VERY nervous when Dan went racing out of the room with Cam without even closing his computer, not to mention locking it away. I was pretty sure that he'd come back to find that either it was gone or it was no longer open. (See what I mean about predictions?)"--I could see that happening, the way the camera was set up so the computer was in the foreground as Cam and Dan walked out. In any other show, that would have been an obvious red flag that the computer was about to be messed with.

I can't believe Isa is about to become the owner of La B without any effort on her part. She won't get this one through fraud, so it won't be as easy to kick her out. We'll have to wait until she's outed for her other crimes.

HS: I agree with your comment about Pablo and Luz. They've gone through enough. I don't want NG to come around to mess with them. It's more than enough that we have Pablo's parentage and Leo hanging over their heads.

I am now rooting for Isa to get Buenaventura now that Cayetano is acting like such a JA. Don't ever hit a woman, no matter how mad you are and no matter what she's done. I'm sorry Mariano and Pablo, (not Yago though) but you can get a job at Malquerida. I want Cayetano to fall. Hard. Old fartcicle.

I can see the dragging out of Dan hacking Al's email. So obtaining solid evidence against Isa will take a while longer.

Nanette, about the computer, I had the same thoughts. And when they came back to the room and she showed the computer in front of the camera as they zoomed in on Dan and Cam, it was closed. Then I was waiting for Dan to notice that it was closed and he never did. So now I'm hoping that it was just a prop error.

I thought the same thing about the computer because of that foreground shot.

Don't anyone miss tonight's episode!

OK I feel better now that I know that I'm not alone in feeling that Roccio's downfall tho long overdue was a bit harsh. Someone pointed out what I forgot to mention was the nerve of Caye planning on cheating her out of her half of the ranch.

I can't wait to see Caye's face when Isa sweet talks him out of the ranch. Even though in the end I hope that it goes to the rightful heirs, I'd like to see Isa get her hands on it albiet temporary just long enough to make fools of both Caye and Dio.

As for Roccio, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of her trouble making tactics. She's too far gone for too long to be redeemed.

Hey Kat thanks so much for your recap and last week's too. I'll be back later to comment.

5ft - I missed most of it, but with your recap I feel like I saw it. Thanks for explaining "india ladina."

Loved Rocio's downfall. If this were happening to another women, Rocio wouldn't have any sympathy for her at all. Mariano's a good protective son, but I'm sure he would've felt better about his mother if she hadn't pulled that rape lie. That lie said a lot about who Rocio is today, while her cheating 23 years ago is mistake in the past that can be forgiven. Anyway, that's my take on what Mariano is feeling.

Niecie - I think you're right about Mariano. Even Cayetano seems most pissed that Rocio lied to him about Pablo and then the rape. Yago'sonly upset because he's dad's pissed and he thinks that Pablo "stole" his father's love. Idiot.

What is killing me (but isn't really that unexpected) is how casually Iago is throwing Pablo under the bus and possibly will enourage Cayetano to do so. His baby brother!

Poor little Ana is going to have a sad homecoming after all this.

And Augustina has some bloody nerve referring to the hacienda as "her" house and thinking that talking to Amanda is lowering herself. Her comeuppance (for the fraudulent investment scheme and her stupidity) is going to be even uglier than Rocio's.

Variopinta- Thanks for that info on Eddy. A soccer star, huh? Well, that explains the cute apple butt and well formed thighs I noticed under his tight wedding day pants...

-Dio burning his passport so no one finds out he's Hector has one tiny flaw ... the marriage certificate with his fingerprint! Even Mr. I-Make-No-Mistakes can make mistakes.

-Eleuterio better tell STAT what he heard! It can't wait until after the honeymoon! Cam/Dan need to know and give Mariano a heads-up.

-Caye telling Isa he only has Iago left was a little funny (to me). He said it with such enthusiasm ... NOT!

-I love Refugio telling Rocio to stop playing the victim and telling Caye the truth about Pablo. Finally, her conscience is clear. What an anti-typical TN nana. Matilde from Refugio could take lessons from Refugio!

-Can't stand Rocio, but was applauding her slapping Iago. He is really angling for Pablo's position in his father's eyes. Ileana gloating and telling her mother she's staying will be her undoing. I believe she will go out in one of two ways: 1) she will "brown-nose" Isadora (like Ximena did) when she comes to live at BV (because we all know she will) and when she is no longer useful to Isa for info or whatever, she will be squashed like a bug and disposed of; or 2) she will antagonize Isa right away and be squashed like a bug that much sooner. Iago's days at BV are numbered too. Isa will quickly figure out a way to get rid of him.

-Loved, loved Rodolfo consoling and comforting Nat while giving her sound advice about her Devil Daddy vs her Angel Mommy.

-Isadora has played Cayetontisimo brilliantly. By playing to his male ego, NOTHING she has received/will receive from him has come out of her mouth. HE believed she was mistreated by everyone when Alonso died and "made" them respect her; HE offered to put her up in the hotel and pay all her expenses (she demurring the whole time); HE offered his attorney to try to get the MQ back (possibly turning her on to his atty for future use); and now, HE is going to propose to her to put the ranch in her name! Ay, ay, ay, Caye ... que tontisimo!

-

As much as Cayetano deserves what's about to happen to him, Mariano and Ana don't deserve the fallout from it. Eleuterio needs to tell him.

If Cayetano survives what Hissadora plans for him he will deserve all the humiliation it brings.

HellaShelle- The avances DID show Rocio trying to beyotch slap Isa. Lol!

5 footer, thank you so much for an entertaining and informative recap. I couldn’t understand what the lawyer told Cayetano at the very end and was impatiently waiting to see your recap to find out. I knew by the music it was something big – and now at last I see Isadora’s path to Buen Adventura. Things don't look good for the BA boys.

So many great comments, too!

The ‘india latina’ comment left me impacada. Also hitting Rocio. I am starting to think that Cayetonto deserves what Isa is about to dish him, but his sons don’t deserve to lose their inheritance.

Nanette, yes, I heard Rudolfo call Nat ‘Nati’, too, and, yes, it was very cute! I sure hope the two of them get together. I also have to agree with you on Yago. He doesn’t get a pass and I don’t like him, but I do understand why he is acting the way he does. He could certainly be acting out even more than he is, given that he has spent his life sandwiched between two golden children. I don’t understand how he could turn on his mother and Pablo so instantly, however. Kudos to the writers for making his motives clear, but no kudos for making his actions so clumsy.

The unraveling of a forty plus year old marriage does not take place like this, in the space of a few hours. Learning that your spouse cheated you is a huge deal, but when it took place over twenty years ago? And the rest of the time you’ve had ups and downs, but you’ve made the marriage work? And then *poof* it’s all gone in a couple of discussions? Even with the other issues – Pablo and the rape lie – that just isn’t the way things happen. I’ve seen a lot of divorces in my day, but I have never scene one come down like that. Just sayin’. So more non-kudos to the writers for that.

Foxy, my heart went out to Rocio, too, although I hated her lie about being raped. No one should ever be hit. Period. Augustina is an abused woman, too. Emotional abuse is just as damaging as physical, perhaps more so. I have been surprised at how harsh most of the commenters here have been towards both of these two, who I tend to see as victims, though foolish. I guess in a TN, most viewers just want to cheer for the good guys and boo the bad ones, and there is nothing wrong with that (it is just a silly tv show, afterall). However, I think the writing is better when they make the characters complex, not purely good or evil, but a mix of both. I find it more realistic. Both Rocio and Augustina seemed believable to me up until the last week or so, when Rocio lied about being raped and Auggie continues to close her eyes. Now they are just being stupid. I like it better when they have more nuance.

There is nothing and there has never been anything nuanced about Agustina. She is a fool plain and simple.

My take is that no one on this list "hates" Agustina (why does this issue of "hate" keep coming up, anyway?). They hate her stupidity. Hate is a pretty strong word in my book. The woman is a fool and an idiot, but that sure doesn't make this Viewerville persona "hate" Agustina.

Can the idiot known as "Cayetonto" really get away with putting Buenaventura in Hissadora's name just like that? The suggestion from the attorney for him to do that sounds pretty fishy to me. I don't know Mexican divorce law, but surely Rocio gets some part of that rancho.

Darn, if I can just get past this darn robo!!

Anon 5:55, the word I used is harsh. And, yes, your comments do seem very harsh to me.

Carolina you are so right, hate is a pretty strong word. But on the other hand calling someone a fool and an idiot are hateful words in the context that you are using them. Can you imagine telling someone "I don't hate you, it's just that you are a fool and an idiot. (In real life someone would most likely tell you "it takes one to know one").
But since this is a novela, let's get back to having fun.

Actually, I don't feel like they've portrayed Gussy and Rocio as being all bad. Rocio is less sympathetic to me because she is in essence a selfish person, as well as a snob. But there are plenty of people like this in real life. That doesn't make them hateful and it doesn't make Rocio hateful. She obviously loves her sons and has spent decades being a loyal wife to Cayetonto, despite that one blip when they were admittedly having troubles in their marriage.

Where she has earned my scorn is from her scornful treatment of Luzma, and her willingness to throw other people under the bus to save her own hide. She did not deserve to be hit, and I think the writers showed (by the horror on the faces of her sons) that no one approved of this. Mariano also threatened Caye that he wouldn't allow him to lay another hand on his mother, and Yago, as resentful as he is and despite having just been slapped by Rocio, also was horrified by his father's actions. I think Rocio, by losing her husband and home, has more than paid for her past affair, for the 22 year cover-up of Pablo's paternity, and for the present day lies she told to deflect blame from herself. I actually don't think that, in a macho culture like the one Cayetonto lives in, it is so strange for him to be so enraged at having been "made a fool of" for so long. He wants to get revenge on Rocio by throwing her out and ending the marriage. He would be ridiculed behind his back by the other ranchers once the truth about Pablo is out if he stayed with her. This way, he gets to preserve some of his manhood and pride. He gets to take back control.

As for Gussy...she has had many warm/caring moments with her daughters. It seems that when there isn't a man in the picture she can actually be a very doting and loving mom. But add a man to the mix, and she loses half her brain cells. She defines herself by the man she's with. Like Rocio, she's also a snob, but not to the point of being unkind. For example, she and Piedad have a very good relationship. But, both women are very aware of their "place"-- something the younger generation (like their daughters Cami and Luzma) seems to ignore more. The relationship between Gussy and Piedad is that between a generous boss and a loyal employee. The relationship between Cami and Luzma is more of that between big sister and little sister. These two generations are just looking at things through very different lenses.

I disapprove of the way Rocio and Gussy view the world, but I can’t fault them for their upbringing. All I can hope is that they both learn from their mistakes and grow, and become better examples for their kids and grandkids.

Carolina, so sorry. My comments are directed at the person who remains anonymous, not you. I agree with everything you said.

Agree you you, Vivi, 100%. And Lulu and Anon, I see nothing wrong with exchanging viewpoints. No one is right or wrong, and it is fascinating for me to see how differently people can react to seeing the same thing.

The only character that I see as portrayed as all bad has been Isa. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has seen anything good in her. She is so deliciously evil, though, she is wonderful to watch. Dio has been nearly all bad, but I am still thinking he may have a tender spot somewhere in his scaly hide for Natalia. I see all the others, including Alonso and Ximena, as having nice, satisfying depth and nuance. Dan and Cam and even Mariano all have their character flaws.

Actually, I think one reason I am not so fond of the Pablo-Luzma subplot is that they are too nice. They don't have enough of anything bad to make them interesting. And, no, the little spat Luzma had with her teenie bopper girl friend doesn't count for me. But they are both so mature, they have won me over at least a bit.

Lula, I knew that. :)

Carolina, I don't see any goodness about Isadora, but I do admire her goodies.

I think most of us would consider Leoncio as all bad also, and if he has any goodies to enjoy, he's kept them well hidden.

Carlos

Carolina- I felt pity for teen Isa. The first flashback they showed of her when she was a teen bride and Old Man Lazcano forced baby Al on her was quite sad. She had such a shocked, lost expression on her face. But by the time she had become 20-something year old Isa, something had definitely snapped/broken in her, and she had become a resentful, hate-filled creature. When she blackmailed Solomon and reminded him of his role in converting her into a married teenaged mother of a toddler, I could see some of that old hurt and vulnerability of her teen self. But that's it. That's the only glimmer of humanity I've seen in Isa. I admit when I think of a teenager being sold into marriage like that, I feel sad for her. But I don't feel sad for adult Isa. Her situation didn't make her into a monster. She chose to become that way.

I wonder how fast Cayetano would have pushed for divorce if Isa wasn't in the picture.

I find Agustina a complex character. She can be so nice and then she can be such a snob. I don't care for Rocio at all. I see her affection for her children and Ana, but she has done too many hurtful things for me to see her in any other light than a bad one. Her complete refusal to take responsibility for her actions irks me.

Carlos, *snort* about Isa's goodies. I forgot about Leonicio. He seems all bad to me, too.

Vivi, you are spot on about Isa.

Cayetano will become the male Gussy when it comes to seeing their partners' flaws. Augustina is blind to and refuses to see/hear anything bad being said about Dionisio (even after the way he treats her) and Cayetano will refuse to hear anything negative about Isadora. She has shown him nothing but the sweet, loving and understanding friend and fed his macho ego by playing the damsel in distress needing his protection. Mariano will have to come up with something really good to get him to even listen to what Cam/Dan may have to tell him about Dionisio and Isadora planning to take BV. Like Gussy, he will simply refuse to believe it.

Anon 7:20, good point. Natalia is another one with blinders on as far as Yago goes. She seems to be doing the same for Dio, too.
