Amor Bravío #105 (Uni 100) Tue 1/15/13 The Devil’s in the Details

Some scenes were re-arranged for continuity

Camila’s Townhome
Ozzie rushes to Camila’s place to show her the transfer of ownership (cesión de derechos) documents indicating that Alonso did indeed give up the ranch back to her!  The documents were left at his office but Margarita hadn’t found them until this morning and she rushed over to the Hostal to tell him.  Rosario pipes in, Camila had asked what other last wish had her son requested of her and this was it.  Ozzie is shocked to hear her call Alonso her son.  Camila tells him she’ll explain everything as they on back to the ranch.  She thanks Rosario and Padre Anselmo profusely for bringing such good news.

Camila, Dan, and Ozzie rush out the door and run smack into Agustina.  They drag her along, telling her they’re all on their way to the ranch.  Inside Rosario tells the Padre she feels really good about everything as though a great weight has been lifted from her.  But she knows the worst is yet to come, but she’s ready, she no longer has doubts about what she must do next.

Amanda’s Hostal
Natalia pleads with Amanda to come out with it, who’s my daddy?  Amanda’s afraid because he’s a very powerful, ruthless (despiadado) man, a man who has never hesitated to kill, to cause harm.  Natalia demands to know.  Amanda explains that this man who used to go by the name of Hector, is now Dionicio Ferrer!  Natlia is impactada!

On a fast truck to LMQ
Agustina has been told the chisme.  Hissadora is not Alonso’s mother!  Oh my!  Agustina gets a call on her cell from Piedad and hands over the phone to Camila who puts her on speakerphone.  Piedad tells her in a rush that Agustina is building a bonfire with all of Don Dan’s memorabilia and there are excavation vehicles waiting at the gate!  Oh my!  Daniel tells her to instruct Rodolfo and Eluterio not to permit them entry under any circumstances and Camila tells her not to allow Hissadora to go through with her plans.  Piedad agrees the staff is doing what they can but they’d better be quick and get here already!  Agustina and Ozzie agree Hissadora has no idea what’s coming.

La Hostal
“Dionicio Ferrer?” is all Natalia can manage to say.  “Now you understand why I couldn’t tell you,” says Mom, “I know how this must make you feel.”  “No! You have no idea what this is doing to me!  How could you have remained silent about something like this!  You know perfectly well that I know him and have dealings with him!”   Amanda tearfully tries to explain this is exactly why she finally decided to say something.  Otherwise, she would have remained silent for the rest of her life!  She admits Dionicio knows, he found out only recently and that’s why she asked Natalia to stay away from him.  That’s why she was thinking of leaving town.  Natalia wonders how she could consider doing that without giving her the opportunity of deciding whether or not to accept him as her father.  Amanda  can’t see how Natalia could see him as her father.  He may have fathered her but he is a cruel and very dangerous man.  She tells Natalia about the spy planted in the Hostal to spy on her.  Besides, he’s the one who ordered the assault on Ozzie because said spy had surely informed Dion that Ozzie was going to help them flee.  Natalia is having difficulty processing all this.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch,
Our boy Pablo stands defiantly at the gate refusing entry to the orange shirted construction guys and their big, bad machinery.  He’s stalling, saying no one told him anything about any machinery.  The head foreman (I can tell cuz he’s wearing the shiny silver hat) threatens to report him, but Pablo doesn’t budge.  Eluterio and the other vaqueros come running up, saying Camila and Dan are on their way and told Piedad they shouldn’t allow the machinery to enter, no way, no how!  Pablo turns to the foreman and tells him they’ll have to go through them before they’ll allow entry to those machines.

More, please…..
Vivi arrives with a cake for Roman.  Padre explains Roman is in class but tell them to wait because he has some really exciting news for them.  A miracle, a true miracle.

Later, Ramon has obviously enjoyed Vivi’s cake, he has frosting all over his face.  No one had ever brought him a cake, blah, blah.  Rafa comes over and also notices Roman liked the cake.  He also notices Vivi has a tear in her eye and she claims she just got a little something in her eye, “didn’t we Roman”.  I think he flubbed his line here, cuz he says no and Vivi laughs and repeats, no we didn’t get anything in our eyes.  Ok, that was kinda cute.  Roman leaves but not before Vivi asks for a kiss.

Tears continue to fall at La Hostal
Amanda tells Nataila how Dionicio also threatened her (I think she could’ve added a little more detail here, like the chokehold maybe?)  She didn’t tell Natalia because he had threatened to harm Natalia. As for the spy, well Rafa only discovered him a few days ago.  But she’s not the only one who wants to protect her.  Daniel and Camila hadn’t wanted her to work at LMQ because Dion’s living there.  The last thing they expected was for Dion to worm his way into her life and trap her in his net (redes). Natalia now asks who else knows Dion’s her daddy.  Amanda wonders why that matters (que más da eso?)  “CONTESTAME!! WHO ELSE KNOWS,” shouts Natalia.  Amanda responds that Padre Anselmo and his sister Teresa also know.  She thought that as an attorney, Teresa might be able to help her.  Natalia thinks differently, “You should have told me first.”  Amanda continues trying to justify her actions, saying she only did this to protect her, not because she had any desire for them to know about the relationship that ties them to that man.  “That ‘man’ is my father!  I had every right to know that.”  Natalia turns to leave and pushes away from Amanda when she tries to stop her. Natalia shouts she needs to be alone and leaves. Amanda slowly sinks to the bed and begins to weep.

La Delegación
Rosario has arrived to turn herself in.  (I can’t believe Padre Anselmo would rather be chismeando with Vivi and Rafa instead of being here with this poor woman in her moment of need!  Bad form, Padre).  She informs the clerk she killed her son.  She killed her son with an overdose of potassium!

Showdown at La Malquerida
The pile continues to grow for the bonfire.  Hissadora comes out to see how her reluctant minions are getting on.  She asks for the gasoline and resplendent Rodolfo *sigh* explains there is none to be found.  “What, no gasoline?”  Hissie feigns shock at the news.  “oh well, no matter cuz I got me her some good ol’ alcohol.  What, did you think you’d stop me because there was no gasoline?  Oh no, you’re not going to hold me back from anything!”  Dressed in her Hitler Youth khaki shirt, Hissadora has come prepared and begins to douse the pile with alcohol. Rodolfo brazenly grabs her by the arm and tells her she will not burn anything once belonging to the Monterdes.  (oh, he’s so hot)  She pushes him away, “Hasn’t it become clear to you that I am the owner here!!” Dorotea steps up and says she may be the owner but they will not let her burn those things.  Hissadora:  “look niña estupida, I’m not going to ask permission.”  She goes on with her dastardly plan!  Again, Rodolfo steps up and tells her they won’t allow it and she’s not going to burn anything.  “Of course I am and you’re not gonna stop me!” She drops the match on the heap!  “See?  No one, and I mean no one will stop me from burning this filth (cochinada).  Gasp -  When, on a fiery horse, er, truck, with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and hearty “Nosotros sí!” Daniel has arrived to save the day.  Hissadora is so shocked, she does a triple take – in slow motion yet!  Daniel has arrived accompanied by Camila (with Chente heralding their arrival).  Daniel orders everyone to put out that fire - well done, kimosabe!  Hissadora promptly tries to run them off her property, saying they have no right being there.  “Actually,” says Camila, “Alonso left a document leaving all rights to me and Daniel so La Malquerida is ours!”  Hissadora boldly holds her head up, eyeing Daniel.  (Maybe they should go find that “lost” gasoline now.)

Hissadora protests and begins to talk about the will.  Agustina interrupts her.  It doesn’t matter what that will says.   Ozzie takes out the new will, telling her this new will is the only one that is legally valid.  Camila and Dan both tell her she never owned La Malquerida and she has no business here.  Hissadora accuses them of falsifying that document to take everything from her (uh, pan calling kettle, pan calling kettle, you there?)  Ozzie assures her the document is valid.  He drew it up himself so Alonso could sign it in the hospital.  Hissadora laughs this off, saying everyone knows Alonso wasn’t able to sign anything – he couldn’t move!  Ozzie fights back, saying Alonso imprinted his thumb print which is as valid as a fingerprint. (uh, ok – quadriplegic and can’t move – surely anyone could have done this to Alonso, are there any witnesses to this supposed “signature”? C’mon Hissadora – thnk!  Alas, she doesn’t) Ozzie goes on to say he wrote (redacté) this will in the hopes that Alonso would reflect before going to jail.  Hissadora: “oh yeah?  How’d you do it, because no one was allowed in to see Alonso.”  This is where Hissadora gets her second shock of the day:  Camila tells her Chayo delivered it to them, Alonso’s true madre!  Hissadora’s all, QTH?  Oh yeah, Daniel tells her, the nurse who cared for Alonso?  Well, it just so happens she’s his true madre!  Hissadora’s still shocked……and majorly impactada!

La Delegación
Juarez comes to get Chayo/Rosario.  He remembers her as Alonso’s nurse and realizes this is why he couldn’t find her after his death.  He takes her into his office and starts questioning her.  She explains she was on a mission to fulfill Alonso’s last wish.  When asked why she killed him when, as a nurse, her job is to save lives.  She explains it was a case of euthanasia (eutansia) although she realizes that’s illegal.  If she aided in killing her son, it was because he asked her to and she couldn’t resist, given his condition and she decided to fulfill his last wish.  Sherlock Juarez:  “Your son?  Why do you say Mr. Lazcano was your son?”  Rosario: “Because I’m his true madre, not Hissadora as everyone else believes.”  Sherlock’s confused, if Alonso knew she was his mother, then she’s the one he was accusing when he said his mother attempted to kill him.  Rosario helps him out and tells him that the one calling herself his mother offered her money to kill him when she realized Alonso wasn’t allowed visitors!  Sherlock is on his game, “So then, you killed Alonso because Hissadora asked you to, not due to compassion.”  Rosario patiently explains to him that she killed Alonso because he begged her to.  He knew that if he went to jail, sooner or later that woman would order his death.  Rosario understands that in society’s eyes this was murder and that’s why she’s turning herself in. Her heart and her conscience are clear – they know that if she committed that crime, it was out of love.  Sherlock gives her his best detective stinkeye.

Showdown at La Malquerida
In the time-honored telenovela tradition, Hissadora utters, “No puede ser!”  Camila sarcastically says, “Yeah, no puede ser that we’ve discovered you’re not Alonso’s true madre.   Now everything makes sense.  That’s why you treated him like that.”  Agustina:  “You’ve been unmasked.  Now we all know the type of woman you are.”  Daniel joins in, “So get on out of La Malquerida and don’t ever set one foot her again.”  Pablo and the boys come running and he tells Camila that they’ve been able to hold off the machinery, for now.  She tells him not to worry, they’re the real owners of LMQ.  Daniel says the important task at hand now is throw out “esta mujer”.  Camila calls Piedad and Dorotea over and sends them upstairs to get Hissadora’s things and throw them in her car.   Hissadora asks that she at least be allowed to pack her own things but Agustina tells her she will never set foot inside the house.  She should be happy they’re even giving her back her things.  Camila orders the staff to help her bring back everything to the house and put it back where it belongs.  Hissadora calls this humiliating.  Agustina disagrees, saying this is just a taste of when Hissadora threw them out.  As they say, el que ríe último , ríe mejor (he who laughs last, laughs best).  Wow, Hissadora is speechless.

Speaking of speechless
LeonsinLengua is led into the classroom where Aaron waits. Aaron tells him he knows who he is but not to worry, he’s not there to judge him.  LeonsinLengua growls at him but Aaron is not deterred.  He’s here to teach him because he knows Leonsinlengua has a lot to tell them.  SinLengua eventually sits down and Aaron begins at the beginning, naturally, with the vowels (vocales) and the letter A.  He has to teach the beast how to hold the pencil.

Showdown at La Malquerida
Piedad and Dorotea are quickly packing Hisssadora’s things (I see she never made it into the master bedroom, teehee).  Piedad instructs her to only pack the clothes.  Hissadora did that to the patrones and now she won’t be taking anything either.  Dorotea brings out a couple of books, wondering if they’re hers.  Piedad doesn’t think so and they’ll stay here.  Camera suspiciously zooms in on these.

La Malquerida
Of course, Agustina couldn’t wait to share the good news with her hubby!  She’s called him at his office to tell him they’ve recovered La Malquerida.  QTH?  Now it’s Dioncio’s turn, what?  Si! Si!  She’s giddy with the news that LMQ belongs to Camila and Daniel!  Dionicio can only sputter and stutter, “c-c-como?”  Agustina squeals and Dionicio scowls.

Outside, Camila wonders at how Hissadora could have thought she’d get away with it. She even had the machinery ready to work on the famous tourist development.  Daniel also warns her she won’t be able to wash her hands of Ximena’s death.  She was involved somehow and he will make it his business to find the proof.  Hissadora isn’t worried by his threats because he has nothing on her.  She had nothing to do with that accident.  Alonso was the sole culprit.  Camila sees that it’s very easy to blame those that are no longer here.  Hissadora hisses that she’ll never be able to prove anything, never!

Pablo is telling Ozzie that he can’t believe it and he’s gotta tell his pops ASAP!  Ozzie agrees.

The Help is marching out with Hissadora’s suitcases and begin loading them into her car.  She can’t believe they won’t let her in to make sure nothing was left behind.  Camila and Daniel tell her to fuhget about it and scram.  Toodles!  She finally makes like an arbol and leaves.  She climbs into the car and races off.  Everyone cheers.  Lots of hugs and cheering in slow-mo.  Yay!

Schoolhouse Rock
We’re up to the vowel “i” and Aaron announces they’re done for the day.  He’ll leave him some exercises and they’ll meet again tomorrow, sale?  The warden and Comandante Juarez arrive to speak to LeonSinlengua.  Juarez has become aware that the tongueless one is taking reading n ‘riting lessons.  There have been a lot of accusations thrown around about Hissadora about the death of Padre Baldomero – does LeoSinLenguas know anything?  SinLengua nods yes.  The warden suggests that if he cooperates, his sentence might be reduced.  Aaron agrees that if they work hard, LeoSinlengua could be writing his first word within the month. LeoSinlengua thought bubbles, “this could be my chance to denounce (delater) that mendiga vieja! Dionicio and Alonso tambien!  Yup, I will have revenge.”

La Carretera al Infierno
Said “mendiga vieja” is tooling down the highway, deep in thought visualizing Rosario standing at Alonso’s bedside.  “How was I to imagine that was was his mother! How!”  Her tantrum is interrupted by a call.  Oh, hell, it’s the Devil himself!  “How is it possible that Alonso signed over the rights to the ranch to Camila and Daniel!”  You can almost smell the brimstone!  “Wasn’t it assumed that you were at the hospital to watch that Alonso not make a move (pun intended-yuk, yuk) What the devil happened!”  Hissadora hisses right back, she has no idea but evidently Alonso found a way to avenge himself against them!  Dionicio demands to know why she hadn’t told him Alonso wasn’t her spawn.  She explains no one knew and damned be the moment he found out because that’s when she lost everything (despojó from despojar=to strip somebody of something).  Dioncio:  “Of course!  And to top it all off, you asked his true mother to off him!”  Hissadora explains she had no idea that was his mother but Dionicio thinks she should have taken precautions.  “You’ve made a lot of errors, but this one, this one is the worst of all!  We’ve lost La Malquerida.  Everything we’ve done, we’ve done to get that property and now it’s back in Camila’s hands.”  Hissadora:  “I know, I know.  But this isn’t the end of me.  I’ve lost the battle but not the war.”  Dionicio wonders how she plans to win this war.  Camila and Dan will surely not trust them anymore (gee, ya think?) Hissadora says the word impossible is not in her vocabulary and he should know that by now.  Dionicio thinks she doesn’t grasp the magnitude of their situation and demands to see her at his house, now!  Hissadora agrees, but she’s got a pending item to resolve.  He’s not taking no for an answer – nothing is more important than this – and demands that she come over now!  She screams that she already told him she’ll be there when she can!  Then she cuts the call and says to herself, “Estúpido, I don’t  have time for you, imbecile!”

La Malquerida
Daniel and Camila enter the parlor triumphantly as Daniel announces the LMQ has now returned to its rightful heir, Camila!  Everyone has joined them, bringing back Don Dan’s belongings that were saved from the fire.  Camila protests that it also belongs to him and he says, no, no, it’s hers.  Camila and Daniel thank The Help profusely for their loyalty and affection – how can they ever repay them?  Camila suggests they have a fiesta tomorrow along with some wonderful food.  Everyone cheers!  She asks that Rodolfo and Eluterio start organizing everything.  Piedad says she’ll prepare some finger lickin’ good mole!  But Camila wants to have it catered so they can all enjoy the festivities.

Ozzie takes back Alonso’s document in order to register it properly to ensure the property changes hands.   Camila thanks him and Ozzie says the one to thank is the woman who fulfilled Alonso’s last wishes.  He agrees to come back and party with them -- once he’s fully recuperated.  Camila jokes he  just wants to come back for the mole.  Pablo offers to take him back to town because he’s anxious to tell Luzma, Mariano,  and his family all the good news.  Camila insists he bring back Luzma so she can be here to celebrate with them.  Camila asks Eluterio to go bring Maja and Don Dan’s portrait.  He jokes that he’ll be so quick, it’ll be as though he never left.  Everyone is happy and Agustina tells Camila she’ll call her hubby and find out if he’ll return all her belongings via his staff.  She rushes off and Camila rushes onto Daniel’s lap.  She notices he’s not as exuberant as she is and asks what’s up.  He says he’s very happy she has her ranch back.  They bicker playfully – Camila saying it’s theirs, he saying it’s hers.

La Malquerida
Agustina’s on the phone with her hubby.  (I know this is not gonna be good).  She tells him she wants to return to the ranch, where she feels comfortable not like at his house where she doesn’t feel at home.  Dionicio readily agrees they’ll return.  He’ll have Judity pack their things and send them over.  Agustina insists on knowing when he’ll return.  “No lo se!”  and bam! He hangs up on her.  Agustina just doesn’t get it.

Back on La Carretera al Infierno
Hissadora is still driving and thought bubbles, “That was a dirty trick of fate.  Why did that woman have to be Alonso’s mother?  He (Alonso’s dad) had told her his mother was a maid but this woman is a nurse.  How is it that she recognized Alonso after all these years?  Ah, of course! It was because of his name.  She must have realized it as soon as he was admitted to the hospital.  Such devotion, such care….but then why did she accept my proposal?  Why did she kill her own son?”  She flashes back to her meeting with Rosario in the cafeteria when Rosario admitted she had a son, a son that was yanked from her arms as a bebé.  Then the scene where Hissadora tries to pay her for the dirty deed and Rosario indignantly says she didn’t do this as a paid assassin, she did it for love, sob.  It all comes together for Hissadora, “Of course, you were speaking of your love and not the love I supposedly felt for Alonso.  Now I understand why you didn’t accept my money but did accept my proposal.  What has me disconcerted is why did you kill him?  Why now that you’d reunited with him?”

“How stupid could I be?  It had to be Alonso’s own mother that I ended up asking to put an end to his life.  But no matter, I had nothing to with it.  Rosario was the one who delivered the coup de grace.  I never even entered the room to see him.  Actions speak louder than words.  Rosario can’t blame me for anything, nothing.  I should have done away with her as Dionicio suggested.”

Camila’s Cabin
Cam and Dan return.  She’s happy everything has turned out so well.  They have the ranch back, he’s Mexican, it’s a miracle!  She’s still sad when she thinks of how Alonso ended up.  He agrees.  She wonders if it was the love of his true madre that made him want to mend things.  Daniel figures Hissadora wasn’t expecting that, she was desparate and that’s what Dionicio must be feeling now.  They agree that’s a situation that needs to be resolved.  Daniel places a small portrait of Don Dan on the desk and says he’s now back.  LMQ has it’s dueña as it always should have been.  This ranch will always be for breeding fighting bulls.  Camila speaks to Don Dan’s picture, “Wherever you are,  you must be happy because I’m safe and sound, very happy, and in love with the son of the woman you loved so much.”  Daniel says he’s very in love with her.  They both agree they’re very happy.  He tells her he wants to get married as soon as possible.  If it weren’t for Pablo’s and Luzma’s wedding, he’d suggest they get married now.  They joke on and on: she asking if he’s really, truly sure and he fervently saying he is.  As they’re playing around, she backs him into the bedroom (smooooth) and eventually takes off his shirt (in slow-mo yet, ay caray!) as they reach her bed.  Pillow talk ensues and she tells him she was his from the first kiss he stole from her.  He asks if she’s sure and when she says yes, he says he’ll steal another and so she takes off her shirt and well, you know the rest.

In some bedroom, somewhere
Hissadora is rummaging through her luggage.  She can’t find Rocio’s letters to Don Dan!  She realizes they stayed in those books at La Malquerida!  What to do, what to do?  She’s got to get those letters back at any cost or now she’s truly lost everything!  Todo!

Hissadora’s old bedroom
Dorotea and Piedad are making up the room and Dorotea suggests they air out the room really well to get rid of the smell of sulfur!  (hey, good one Dorotea!)  If it were up to her, they’d burn everything that belonged to her, including those books that she surely bewitched.  She swears to Piedad everything that woman touched is bewitched and begs Piedad to allow her to burn them.  No one will find out.  Piedad refuses saying they belong in Don Daniel’s library.  Dorotea insists the Devil’s already sucked on them.  Piedad scolds her and tells her to do as she’s told.  Dorotea makes the sign of the cross and is careful not to touch the books.

Buenaventura
Mariano and Cayetantonto are reviewing some documents when the phone rings.  Yup, it’s Hissadora and she asks Mariano ever so pleasantly if she could please speak with Cayetano.  She turns on the waterworks as soon as Cayetano comes on the line.  She informs him she’s in a hotel in Metepec.  She was run out of LMQ!  Boo hoo hoo, sniff, sniff.  So funny, she’s thumbing through a magazine as she sobs and tells him her story of how they kicked her out.  She asks if he can please put her in touch with an attorney.  Cayetano can’t get over there soon enough!  Mariano asks what happened.  “An injustice!” says Cayertanbajo replies as he walks out.  Our freshly shaved Mariano can only shake his head.

In town,
Irene and Luzma talk about Luzma’s schoolwork and how well she’s doing when Pablo surprises her.  He’s come to take her back to LMQ and tells her the good news that Cam and Dan are once again the owners.  They’re both happy when he announces she’ll be able to leave LMQ as a bride!  Yay!  He gets a call from Mariano asking about the news.  Mariano explains their dad has gone to the Devil!  Pablo doesn’t understand why that woman continues to seek out their father.  Oh, Pablo calls her the Devil!  And he doesn’t like that relationship and Mariano agrees.  Mariano is beginning to think their mother has a point.  Something’s going on between daddykins and the devil in the  brown shirt!  Pablo just doesn’t get it!

Estevez’ Office
Estevez is now aware of the change and doesn’t understand how Dionicio and Hissadora are no  longer the owners!  They signed the documents the day before yesterday and he himself corroborated the change in ownership!  They even sent the machinery today to begin excavating.  Dion can only say that stupid Alonso went and turned over ownership at the last moment to Daniel and Camila and they just found out today!  Alonso betrayed them all!  Estevez coldly tells him, “that’s your (Dion and Hissadora) problem, not ours!  So you’d better resolve this, otherwise there will  be some terrible consequences.  And don’t look at me that way!  You’re the one who insisted on that clause from the beginning.  You’d better come through or as major stakeholders you will have to repay not only what the rest of us have invested, but you’ll spend the rest of your lives in jail…….for FRAUD!!!”  He leaves the room, disgusted.  Dionicio pounds his hoof on the desk and scowls.   Oh my.

Bien hecho, Paquita.

I never cease to marvel at the presumption of the Hissadoras of this world. What surprises me the most is how she and El Diablo ever expected to get away with this in the first place. Wouldn't a "development" like this require extensive permits, licenses, and a whole boatload of legal procedures and documents and take years to happen?

Someone pointed out yesterday that anything like this would definitely disrupt the character of the area. Wouldn't the other ganadores be concerned about this and protest it? Since La Buenaventua is the adjacent property shouldn't Cayetano be concerned about tourists wandering over with their morbid curiosity, disturbing the animals and the operations of the property?

Shouldn't he also feel some sense of loyalty to the other ganadores who will certainly be concerned about these things?

If that document isn't registered in tonight's episode doesn't Hissadora have an opportunity to challenge it?

Paquita -- Great job. Thank you! What a busy, exciting episode to recap.

A small thing: When did Ozzie get the ownership document to Alonso to sign. Certainly he was called to the hospital, but didn't make it. Did he pass it to Alonso via Juarez? No doubt I'm forgetting something in all the ins and outs of recent weeks. I was glad to see Pablo hurry Ozzie off to get the document registered.

Interesting that Agustina acknowledged that Daniel is now the joint-owner of LM. We'll see if there is any real change in her attitude toward Daniel when she hears about an immanent wedding (clearly Dio doesn't want that). The bigamy issue, for both Agustina and Camila, lurks out there, as someone said yesterday.

Very good and satisfying episode, though the situation with Natalia could certainly go badly and soon.

Ay Paquita, what a great episode you got, and what a thrilling recap you gave us. Isn’t it nice to see the good guys gloating for once? Yay!

I just loved seeing Isa and Dio so darned rattled and thrown off their game. Loved how Camila and Dan threw Isa out without even let her pack her things, and thwarting her efforts to get those letters and the photo—so her plan to completely get Cayetonto in her clutches has been delayed.

I would also like to thank the writers for giving us a steamy Cam-Dan scene. After declaring that they make each other happy (how man tn couples can actually say that and mean it) and amidst the joking around about men getting better with age like a bottle of wine, while women just get old, they actually decided to get married in less than two weeks! Next Saturday to be exact, since Pablo and Luzma are getting married this Saturday. Let’s see what kind of new mischief can happen in the next week or two that delays one or both of those nuptials.

Traveling Lady- RlaO asked the same question late yesterday. Here is the answer I wrote: Becerra gave Juarez the document when he went to visit Juarez in his office at the police station. Juarez told him he would give the document to Al and speak to him about giving the ranch back to Camila and signing (finger printing) the doc. That's when Al told Juarez Isa tried to kill him, that he wanted to see Becerra, and then he got so agitated that Juarez left the room, but left the document for Al to review.

Vivi,

Thanks for the clarification and for repeating it! It's coming back to me now with the great description you have provided.

I agree, lovely scene between Camila and Daniel. I would like their happiness and the light-heartedness that Camila so clearly felt last for a while. Vamos a ver . . . anvils in place, just not sure when or where -- the genius of this novela.

UA - as always, you bring u some good points. There are a few beanie adjustments needed in this plot. I suppose we're to believe that no one in the area would hear any rumors about the development. And permits? Eh, who needs them, minor details. I do thin this has been in the making for some time though because that's why Alonso married Camila in the first place. But still you don't jus plop a tourist development in the middle of some ranches without drawing some attention

Traveling Lady - I also don't recall the document having reached Alonso. Hissadora could demand that such a document have witnesses corroborate that Alonso wasn't coerced into imprinting his thumbprint. The guy was a quadraegic! If he can't "sign" the document, someone else would have had to put his thumb on the paper! Good thing I've got a beanie with auto-tune!
Paquita

Paquita and Urban- Way back when, Dio, Al, and Isa discussed with the rest of the development people that all the permits had been in the works for some time. In fact, it was Dio who bribed people and worked behind the scenes to delay the permits since they hadn't secured the ranch yet. But, I agree that word of that would have likely leaked out in such a small place, unless Dio and his partners also bribed people to keep it hush hush.

Sorry, Isa wasn't in that meeting with the development people. Just Al and Dio. Estevez at the time, told Dio that he knew Dio was the one behind delaying the permits.

When Cayetonto finds out what Isa had planned for MQ, that should be a huge red flag. But he is so caught in her web, that I'm not sure it will matter to the old randy goat. The Alberran boys need to do an intervention.

If Cayetano gets Hissadora a lawyer to challenge Camila's repossession of the property this will provoke a huge family fight. Mariano and Pablo will side with Camila, Iago will side with his father in order to curry favor with him, Rocio will not give a flying damn, and Cayetano might make enemies among the other ranchers whom he now counts as friends.

I don't know whether Cayetano is aware how Alonso acquired the rights to La Malquerida, but he can't be so stupid as to believe that this act of extortion entitles Hissadora to its possession.

Does anyone remember from the early episodes how long ago El Diablo first approached Don Daniel about selling the ranch? If it was before Cammila came to live there that would have allowed him years to plan this.

Urban- They didn't specify, but it seems it had been some years before when Dio approached Don Dan. I wouldn't be surprised if it was before Camila arrived, becuse Al marrying Cami became Plan B, when buying from Don Dan outright didn't work.

And that was a very foolish plan because despite Hissadora's efforts Alonso had a conscience he wasn't aware of, hence la impotencia.

Her cruel upbringing -- undoubtedly borne of resentment of her own situation -- was not going to impart her "values" to him. Had she raised him with the sense of entitlement she has, spoiled him, and made him believe that he deserved everything (rather than nothing) she might have succeeded in making him into a male Mini-Me.

Eleazar might have succeeded in doing that. Makes me think that Hissadora murdered him before he had any opportunity to have an influence over Alonso.

Paquita, I've loved your recaps, but I think you've outdone yourself with this one! What a joy! Lots of very helpful detail, lots of delightful snark, and even some very useful vocabulary. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

You made some excellent points. For example, Amanda should have told Natalia more, such as the chokehold Dio used on her. And I too was very surprised that Padre Anselmo didn't accompany Rosario to the police station.

You had me laughing all the way through with your wit and snark. Hissadora's "Hitler Youth khaki shirt," "(uh, pan calling kettle, pan calling kettle, you there?), and "She finally makes like an arbol and leaves." And, of course, the Lone Ranger bit: "When, on a fiery horse, er, truck, with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and hearty 'Nosotros sí!'"

The plot tooks such amazingly positive turns last night, but as a slightly experienced TN watcher, that served to make me all the more nervous. Will Ozzie really succeed in getting the document registered before either his health or the Powers of Evil prevent him? And surely two weeks is more than enough time for Teresa to discover a living Miriam. It's even possible that Natalia will temporarily go over to the Dark Side and screw things up further. My husband calls me a pessimist, and he's probably right when it comes to everyday life, but when it comes to telenovelas, that's simply being realistic (until the last one or two capítulos).

Juanita,

Your observations on enjoying the good/anticipating the bad in novelas gave me a good laugh. You are so right -- all good events can turn sour until close to the end. And, we do have a long way to go in this one. We are about 2/3 of the way through, so experience warns us that anvils will drop.

I do like it here that the twists and turns, directions and victims of the anvils are often unexpected and that while we are all fearing the worst for Daniel and Cami, it's not going to be a product of silly misunderstandings, jealous siblings or tricks of some kind.

But yes, the good from last night produces anxiety about what's to come in many of us. I'm feeling the same about Downton Abby, should anyone else be watching; the neat way in which several plot threads were tied up last week (with the exception of Edith's sadly aborted wedding) made wary of what comes next and I'm NOT reading the spoilers that are all over the internet.

In real life, I'm generally way too optimistic -- to a fault, but not as a resident of viewerville, at least until close to the end. I've learned!

Thanks for the recap Paquita. ITA that our padre should have accompanied Rosie to the police station.

Someone mentioned this yesterday about Nat, based on her foolishness with Iago, I too think we are in for more foolishness w/Dio. And unfortunately he's lethal whereas Iago is just a dufus.

Now that MQ is with the good guys (at least temporarily), I think the Miriam anvil is about to appear (a guess) very soon. I am very curious to see what her wicked brother has been up to.

Paquita, always a terrific job. My favorite nickname, Cayertanbajo. He has fallen so low, it's embarrassing.

First off, Leon was writing with a crayon, not a pencil. A crayon?!? Really? How humiliating.

I loved the happy celebration and I'm not going to think that this happiness will be shortlived, like any good TN usually does. I will live in the moment here.

Vivi, you got your love scene, maybe it will be repeated tonight, it was sort of at the end.

I don't like how Nat is so mad at her mother for keeping her father's identity a secret. Her anger was understandable at the beginning when she didn't know who he was, but once Amanda told her who it was, Nat should have been more understanding. She knows how bad a person he is, and Amanda gave her more examples. Why didn't the fact that Dion hired hitmen to hurt Osvaldo to keep them from leaving be enough to persuade her on it's own? Hearing these examples should be enough evidence that protecting Natalia was needed? I hope Natalia retreats to her room, mulls it over and forgives her mother.

About Cayetonto and the tourist development, I will never understand the drive of some people who want to get in the pants of another so bady like he is, that he is willing to overlook so much with regards to Isa.

With the partners now breathing down Dion's back, what will he do next?

I think the crayon is the only writing implement they can give him that he can't use as a weapon. Chalk is fragile and messy.

Natalia will probably accuse Amanda of treating her like a child in their next scene together. El Diablo thus far has not mistreated Nat and this is part of his strategy to win her away from Amanda. He may succeed, if only temporarily.

As to Miriam's brother, the question is whether he will continue to avoid Teresa or confront her instead.

Yep. A pencil or pen are perfect for stabbing. They'd be crazy to give Leo any of those.

Cathyx- I do indeed hope it's repeated, but I doubt it as it came right before the final commercial break (I know this because I had time to rewind and play it another time before the break was up) and there were a bunch of scenes after it.

Paquita: thanks for the great recap. I, too, was shocked when Rosario turned up at the police station alone. Badly done, Padre.

There was a moment in the cabana when I thought I heard Dan call Cam “Cami”—cute.

This was a hoot: Isa “sobbing” at Cayetano while she’s flipping through a magazine. I am not fond of the villains, and she is horrific and deserves an horrific end, but I’m sure enjoying her. LC is doing a magnificent job. I think part of the reason why I’m not as bothered by the villains in this TN is because they are not winning over the good guys until Ultimas Semanas.

I’m usually a pretty empathetic and sympathetic person. Just like everyone else here, I try to understand the motivations behind what characters do. But every once in awhile there’s a character that I know I should sympathize with who just gets on my last nerve. Right now it’s Nat.

Paquita - wonderful recap of an action-packed episode. I too loved "Camila and Daniel tell her to fuhget about it and scram. Toodles! She finally makes like an arbol and leaves." Also, "When, on a fiery horse, er, truck, with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and hearty “Nosotros sí!” Daniel has arrived to save the day."

So glad Al left Malquerida not only to Camila but to Daniel too. Shows Al wanted to ensure Camila wasn't alone against the evildoers.

I get the feeling Sherlock Juarez has a heart and will find a way to get Rosario off the hook. I'm also still hoping Al had Rosario tape-record Hissadora.

ITA on Cayetonto. He’s a disgrace to ganaderos. But he did seem to show some hesitation about the dismantling of Malquerida. Maybe he will listen to Mariano.

Hmmm, so Hissadora has been separated from the letters/photo. Wondering how she's going to retrieve them. Use that old fool Cayetonto to get some beloved book for hers? They should bar Cayetonto from the house.

I thought it was funny when Cam was telling Isa to leave and then Dan said "leave please" and then Cam gave him a look and said "please?!"

OT: kept missing Downton Abbey. Now I'm recording the third series and in the hold queue at the library for the first two series. I can't wait!!!!

Dan said the ranch is Cam's, Cam said the ranch is Dan's, I said the ranch is Pablo's.

I think and am thankful for this TN. I feel it's what a TN should be good writing, good actors. I love Cam and Dan, but like someone else said I flinch when their music comes on. I have already watched this on the web and I do think this has one of the best endings,(I have to give the ending a tie with Por Ella Soy Eva) but it's nice to look back and see the episodes that I liked most. This TN is way from over, a lot more to come, and I hope all enjoy it. These actors are good in their craft, you can get lost in the story, especially the old fool story unfolding with Cayetano. I thought that plotline was on the mark.

It was a good night. First, Cam gets the ranch back before everything gets burned. Then I went to a community education thing for the opera, a mariachi opera, that I'm seeing in a couple months. A local college has a mariachi group that performed a medley of songs about- guess what?- TOROS! I pictured La Malquerida bulls the whole time. It also made me want tacos.

But I'm not sure getting a ranch back counts as a miracle, especially from the view of a priest. Miracle would be Becerra and Pablo getting to town and having the will registered before el Diablo (or Hissadora, the minion) finds out and smites them.

Kelly

Niecie, you brought up a good point. I was wondering also about how Isa would get the picture and letters back, and Cayetonto is a good bet on who would do it for her. Or Dion, since he will be back in the house.

UA, I can't see Dion wooing Natalia away, even if he hasn't treated her badly. Remember, she was working for him to get dirt, so she already has a bad opinion of him, and after what Amanda told her, I can't see her wanting to have a Daddy, daughter moment with him.

Cayetonto doesn't care as long as he has a glimmer of hope that he can get in Hissy's pants. He only expressed concern after Hissy revealed her plans to sell the bulls.

When Cayetonto finds out about Hissy's tourist plans for MQ he will just excuse it as Hissy don't know nothin' bout ranchin' and it was her ranch to do as she pleases.

For all we know Cayetonto may have secretly disliked Don Dan and the Monterdes and was secretly pleased the ranch got snatched from his uppity neighbors.

I think Tonto knows full well how MQ was snatched from Camila and he basically shrugged and told his kids "It is what it is."

Natalia can't believe how bad Dionisio is because Dionisio has ALWAYS been courteous & charming with her, even before he found out she was his daughter. It's one thing to know in your head that somebody is bad, versus knowing in your heart.

Amanda & Daniel know in their hearts that Dionisio is a bad guy. Camila is just know knowing Dio is bad in her heart...she knew in her head he was bad but not in her heart, which is why she was all "Dionisio saved my life, he can't be all bad."

Natalia knows in her head Dio is bad, she's got to find out in her heart that he's bad. But this is the same person who turns a blind eye to Yago's actions.

Paquita--Lucky you, you got to watch and rewatch (to get the convo precise, of course) of Cam 'n Dan stealing some nookie. It was great to see them happy and relaxed-although they still never seem to lock the doors.

It was great to see Hissy get her (temporary) just desserts. She thought all that was left to do was light the match and open the gates--Ha!

I agree with UA--about the permit process. One experience our town had was a developer who jumped the gun and bulldozed all the trees on what he thought was going to be a mixed-use development only to find out he was denied the permits (he owned the rights). He figured that once the trees were gone no one would object to his development. He was wrong. The trees all grew back and eventually it was parceled off in a more equitable manner.

More after I've read the comments.

Cathyx - Dio is another option for Hissadora to get the picture/letters, but I'm wondering if she's willing to tell Dio what it's all about, cause he'd demand to know.

Niecie, I think you're right about that. Augustina will not welcome Cayetano at La Malquerida and I think Camila will consider him suspect in view of recent sightings with Hissadora. He seems to know of her plans to displace Rocio and take La Buenaventura, but...

... how will she get him to disinherit all his sons? She has figured out that Pablo isn't Cayetano's, but what could she do to make him disinherit Mariano and Iago other than falsify another will? Of course, that assumes he can (or is willing to) divorce Rocio in the first place.

From her reaction in her hotel room, I gathered that Isa was talking about "winning the war" as it pertains to the tourism development. I'm sure she's smart enough to realize that La MLQ is out of her reach (at least for now). She was thinking she could now run to Cayó-tonto and perhaps get HIS ranch. I believe that's why she had a hissy fit when she couldn't find the letters and photo. But I'm sure Dionisio will help her get them back. He'd better, if he wants to stay out of jail. Maybe (wishful thinking) Dorotea secretly burned the books that satan touched? Would El Tonto be stupid enough to ask her to stay at Buenaventura? Can't wait to see Rocio's reaction if that's the case!

That would be amusing. But Hissadora would no escape the eagle eyes of Mariano and his daughter, the latter of whom looks like a smart kid who would pull no punches.

And Refugio would definitely be on the alert.

Thanks for this fun recap, Paquita. Nicely done.

Troubling me from last night:

"...but she’s got a pending item to resolve."

and that would be?

Also, I'm beginning to worry about Maja.

Carlos

Carlos- I worried about Chayo when Isa said that. Maybe it's a good thing she turned herself in.

Carlos, I also worry about Maja. However, she should be a Smart Novela Pet who knows evil when it's 20 yards away.

UA,

"However, she should be a Smart Novela Pet who knows evil when it's 20 yards away."

Well, she was smart enough not to chase that ball into the silo... though she did allow the kid to blunder in.

Carlos

Thanks for the recap.

Can you believe I fell asleep and slept through throwing out Hissy? Happily, I had the DVR on. I got to relish it later.

I think that there is nothing in the books. I thinks Isadora has them with her. I think that the writers are just playing with us. I think Isadora will go after the other ranch now. I thought, with my beginner Spanish, that she said that one time. I must have been wrong, since no one mentioned it.
Maybe a reappearance of a live Miriam (which I believe) and a new Don Dan son will negate the will though.

Cindy

Cindy- Yes. Just after Al died and she was alone in her room looking at the pic of Don Dan and Rocio, Isa gloated that not only would she end up with MQ but BV too, thanks to Don Dan. I think we all know that's her plan. But she wants it all, so this doesn't mean she's given up on getting her hands on MQ.

Finally saw last night's episode! Yay!!! Oh, such good stuff!

Love how when Camila asks for something to be done, everyone jumps to complir. No "why do you want me to do that?" with the true duena!

I agree with those wearing beanies last night. I'm pretty sure Bercerra said Alonso had to have two witnesses (and possibly also a lawyer?) to use the fingerprint method and it wasn't registered at the time Hissy occupied the ranch (I can't remember, but wasn't that an issue when Dan signed it over to Al in the first place?)

I wasn't hoping I was going to be wrong about Nat. For once I wanted her to be like most TN characters and just be all "Dio=bad guy cuz he's evil, no proof necessary". Now lo unico que falta es por ella to turn to Yago in her time of distress. Oy, please don't go down this path Nat! Rudolfo is way better!

Speaking of people who need to realize Dio's evil - Gussie. He is really not trying to look good in front of this woman anymore. I'm getting more and more curious to see how this story plays out. Will she blow up in his face screaming and yelling? Meekly cry in a corner while Camila screams for her? Or spontaneously combust for so much frustration?

Sorry, I meant "was hoping"

Muchas gracias, Paquita. Genial!

Oh, no. Now I have to start worrying about Maja, thanks to some of you...but I really get it. I hate it when innocent animals become victims of payback. I hope the writers don't go there...

Now that Dan and Cami have plans to be married, definitely it's time for Miriam to show up, and I really do believe she will show up.

Much as yo odio Leo, would love to see him sink Isa and Dio.

Paquita, I'm so sorry, I forgot to say thanks for a great recap! For some reason the part that made me lol was "well done, kimosabe!" I always associate with the word wasabi, so I"m imagining it with a hal japanese, half mexican accent.

Thanks for a great recap Paquita! Not sure which I like better: Cayetonto or Cayetanbajo. The latter I believe.

I believe that Isa was simply referring to looking for the books/pictures among her belongings when she told Dio she had something to do. Those picture(s)/letters are her ticket to Cayetanbajo and Buenaventura.

In view of what they now know, Camila and Daniel should not allow El Diablo to return to La Malquerida.

ITA with you UA. I think they are very afraid for Gussie... maybe they think they can keep an eye on him better this way.

They can't block him from the ranch without blocking Gussy too. Gussy would choose Dio. This would result in a huge rift between Camila and her mom and Camila wouldn't want that. Plus, Camila will feel her mother is safer where she can watch what Dio is doing. This was one of her worries when she and Dan went to live in Aculco, while Dio and Gussy went to live in Metepec.

Jinx LoriLoo! :)

LOL Vivi!

I really really wish Gussie would grow a spine. I'm afraid I've put her in the same category as Cayetanbajo.
