Por ella soy Eva #117 1/3/13: Well, I'll be Damned. Here Comes Your Ghost Again.

But that's not unusual.  It's just that the moon is full, and you happen to call.

Mimi is at home looking through an old photo album; in it are various newspaper articles, the title of one is Singer Apprehended; Agent was Her Lover.  Another describes her being put behind bars.  Mimi is crying.

Eugenia is at home telling Eva she feels betrayed and humiliated to watch Modesto crying over Carmen.  Eva encourages her to take her pills.  "They're for actresses," she tells Eugenia, getting her to laugh.

At Carmen's funeral Renato continues to be angry with his useless and pompous father.  Renato says that Modesto dragged them away from DF to hide them from his wife, leaving Renato's mother without friends.   Modesto says that it's thanks to Renato (you know, the gay thing) his mother had no friends.  They both agree this is neither the time nor the place for this discussion, when Renato sees Adriano come in.  He pretends that Claudia needs to be brought somewhere to rest and takes her away before Adri spots them.

Kevin is moping at home because Claudia isn't answering her phone.  Marcela tells him and Jennifer that she realizes they are angry with their parents for having lied to them, but she and Ferni still deserve their respect.  Marcela wants to know how they found out about the reason Ferni got fired from GI.  Kevin is about to say, but Jennifer stops him.  Ferni comes home with a cake to celebrate his first day of work at a new job, telling them Daniel got him a job working for his father.  Marcela is a little skeptical but happy for him.  This really is a very sweet family.

Angelica is telling Rebeca about her modeling in every magazine while Rebeca looks distracted.  She is sure that Onesimo told her the truth about knowing where Pluti hid the money he stole in Juan Carlos' name.  She is ready to get that money from that infeliz Pinocchio (what? another debauched Disney game?).  Rebeca tells Angelica, "a thief who robs a thief has 100 years of forgiveness."

Helena pushes aside the wedding planner's book on her desk to look at Antonia's thesis.  She struggles with herself to accept that the similarity to her proposal is coincidence.  She starts to call JC but decides against it.

Pluti is scolding Onesimo for showing up at GI and for not telling Pluti that Mimi had spotted him there.  Onesimo downplays it, and Pluti suspects him of hiding something.  Onesimo swears that he's not hiding anything.

Adri is comforting Modesto.  Modesto calls him a lifelong unconditional friend.  Adri would like to meet his children, but Modesto explains that his son is off taking care of his sister.

Daniel shows up, and Jennifer thanks him for getting her father a job.  OMG, he is wearing a scarf indoors.  I think it's contagious.  Viewerville dreads the day poor little Lalito shows up in a shiny silver suit... or Bastardo takes to wearing leopard prints.  Daniel tells the Conteras family they don't need to thank him- that they are the family he has always wanted to have.  They cheer Daniel, and push his face into a plate of cake (yeah, that's how I like to be thanked).

Lalito returns the medal to the girl he cheated out of it.  He is a total gentleman and the girl forgives him, even gives him a besito on the cheek.  The teacher thanks him for having the bravery to recognize his mistake and correct it.  Helena is very proud.

At Eugenia's home, Eva asks if she is thinking of leaving Modesto.  Eugenia thinks that at the moment it would only make things worse, and she needs to recover her career because she needs her mind occupied.  Eugenia asks about her son's problems, and Eva waves her hand over that magnificent body and asks, "Problems?  Me?"

Outside the school, Helena tells Lalo how proud of him she is.  She wants him to remember that when he does something bad, the best thing is to find that person wronged and ask for forgiveness.  A light bulb seems to go off in the little guy's head, and he asks if this weekend Pluti can take them to the ranch they once visited.  I'm hoping he's going to drop an anvil on him.

Modesto shows up at home with Renato and Claudia.  Eva and Claudia give each other the evil eye.  Renato is respectful to Eugenia and Eva.  Modesto announces that Claudia will continue to live with him.  Eva doesn't like the idea and thinks Claudia should live with Renato.  Renato agrees but Modesto tells Eva to stay out of it.  Eugenia says that Claudia is the one who has the right to decide, and Claudia says she wants to stay with her father.  Eugenia is cool with that.  Modesto tells them he is selling Carmen's house in Pueblo, and Renato is angry again, saying that of course nothing is his or Claudia's.  He storms out and Eva follows him.

Everyone is rushing to get ready at the Conteras house.  Kevin lets it slip that someone at GI told them about Ferni being fired for being a thief.  Marcela demands to know who it was, thinking to herself that if it's that hussy Rebeca, she'll kill her.

At work Fernando is bothering the boss's secretary with his usual spate of nonsense.  She is trying to be patient.  Ferni wants to talk to the boss but he is away.  "Look, I'm writing it down," she tells him trying to get him to go away.  Finally she excuses herself to get some coffee.

Catfight!!  Marcela bursts into Rebeca's office and they trade insults.  Marcela calls Rebeca a poisonous viper and goes for her.  The scene is the two of them grabbing each others' hair and grappling as they push each other on and off camera from side to side for no less than six passes.  Viewerville can barely contain itself.

There are shameless ads for Avon, with Mimi and an Evalette, and for Blackberry.  Why is Mimi always the product spokesperson?  Let's get back to the catfight!

Helena bursts into Rebeca's office and demands to know what's going on.  OMG, Marcela and Rebeca are completely disheveled and simultaneously rise from behind Rebeca's desk, much to Helena's horror.  Rebeca calls Marcela a 'naca,' her favorite insult, and Marcela calls her a witch.  Marcela explains the fight and Rebeca says that of course the single mother and the thief's wife would side with one another.  Helena and Marcela leave Rebeca's office, which looks like a bomb went off.

Helena counsels Marcela not to sink to Rebeca's level.  Marcela thanks Helena for her support.  She spots Antonia's thesis and asks to borrow it because she is working on her own and this will help.  Helena was going to return it to Pluti, but why not?  Finally!  The fake thesis is in the hands of the smartest person on the show.  It's anvil time.

Rebeca is completely out of sorts, and still disheveled, when the summoned Felix comes to her office.  That disk he gave her didn't give her access to everyone's computer and she insists he correct that.  He says it'll take time and she gives him two days.  She kicks yet another lackey out of her castle.  She looks skyward and bothers the Virgin, "Why wasn't I born a princess?"

Renato tells Eva that he doesn't want anyone to know he's gay or that he's Modesto's son.  Now that his mother is gone, Renato's anger is greater than ever.  Eva asks toward whom, and Renato replies towards his father and towards his brother Juan Carlos.  Eva is impactada.

Modesto is unburdening his sorrows about Carmen to Eugenia.  Dude.  Really?  Finally he acknowledges that this may be hard for her to hear him talk about the other woman, but he has no one else to comfort him.  Eugenia calmly calls him selfish and unfeeling.  She says she will be there for him, to support him, and she walks away.

Renato explains to Eva that Juan was always Modesto's favorite, and that after 'the incident' Modesto threw him out of the house.  Eva asks about 'the incident,' but Renato wants to know why she has so much interest in him.  Eva tells Renato she understands his position.  Renato misinterprets this and asks if Eva is also gay.  Eva laughs no, but she likes diversity and throws him a "Viva la rainbow."  Renato talks about the guy whose message (saying he misses Renato) Eva intercepted weeks ago on Renato's cell phone.  Eva asks him not to be angry, and in parting she once again tries to flatten that spike of hair on the front of his head.

A councilman from Playa Majagua bursts into Helena's office.  He is furious that the Fitsa Construction company is not honoring the agreements Helena made with the community.  Rebeca, passing by outside, reels herself around to eavesdrop.  The councilman says that if things continue like they are, they are going to have to sue Grupo Imperio.  Helena is dumbfounded, and the man suggests that perhaps someone at GI is playing crooked with her.

Mimi is sweeping the pension with a very sad look on her face.  The phone rings and it's Dagoberto, the man from her past.  He says it's time they see one another again.  And if you're offering me diamonds and rust, I've already paid.

Bill- what a great funny recap and loved your lyrics for Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez. I actually have that album :)

Loved that catfight of Rebe and Marcela. I wish Marcela had cleaned her clock, it so would have been worth it.

Loved Lalo apologizing to that little girl and giving her the medal, and I think when she kissed him on the cheek, he said whoops, too funny. Like what Helena told him to always be honest.

It is time for Helena to open her eyes, how much proof does she need as far as Pluti goes. He is the one that wanted Fitsa for the Playa project, he told Lalo to cheat, if she can't see what type of guy he really is she must be blind! And giving that thesis to Marcela was good, cause I agree with you, Marcela is the sharpest knife in the drawer.

It's funny bout the Avon. A TN before this, UFCS, was based on Avon and they hardly showed any Avon product placement.

Poor Mimi is terrified of this Dagoberto. I hope she doesn't meet up with him, but we know she will.

Modesto deserves a fork too, the nerve of him! I think the reason Eugenia is staying with him is to help Claudia. I have a feeling Claudia will be less than grateful.

I liked the talk Eva had with Renato. I don't think that Renato is a bad guy. I hated the way that Modesto treated Renato, it was just plain wrong to blame everything on Renato. I think Renato just wants his father's respect. JC didn't get much respect from Modesto either. Modesto may have great hair, but he is such a putz.

Thank you, Ithabill
What a great episode to recap.
I loved what you had to say along with the visuals.
The cat fight was hilarious.
I totally agree about Modesto needing a fork. He is so cavalier about everything. He can never talk when it is necessary because it is never the right time. I hope that Eugenia eventually kicks him to the curb.

Thanks, Ithabill, for the recap and reminding me of one of my favorite songs. Madelaine, I also have the album. The Mimi Avon commercial was too much! I liked the representative from Playa Majahua raising the possibility that someone in her own company may be putting one over on Helena.

Jarifa

Ithabill- Many thanks for the great recap and pics.

I also got a good chuckle out of the cat fight, especially what they looked like at the end.

Gosh, I so wanted Eugenia to slap Modesto when he went on and on about his feelings for Carmen. And when he told Renato that it was Renato's fault that his mom didn't have that many friends at the funeral, when he knows her status as La Otra hidden away in some dinky town is the reason. What an ASS!

I was so glad the Playa Majahua guy came and gave Helena hell. She has been neglecting this project, allowing all kinds of shady stuff to happen behind her back. She should be there at least once a week checking up personally on what is happening. Time for her to take control again!

Just started watching this; what fun! Thanks for the recap, Bill -- I don't think we've met, but I like your style. ;}

Madelaine, I had a UFCS moment with that Avon infomercial, too -- I thought, do they own EVERYONE? You know there's another TN in the pipeline that's set at Avon, Porque el Amor Manda, with Colunga and Blanca S. It has a lot of everyone's favorite telenovios in it, too: Margaleff, Fastlicht, Alejandro Avila (okay, I know that last one's just me...)

What fun Ithabill.

"Viewerville dreads the day poor little Lalito shows up in a shiny silver suit... or Bastardo takes to wearing leopard prints" LOL

The catfight was hilarious. I loved the way they just showed them going back and forth without showing what happened off camera. I loved the way they looked at the end -- and I was surprised that Rebecca didn't rush off to put her face & hair in order. She is so funny when she prays to the virgincita. She is one of my favorites.

I to am glad that Marsela has the phony thesis in her hands. She is sure to find some discrepancies in Pluti's mockup. And yes Helena has been remiss in her supervision of the Playa Majuaga project. She has asked for reports from Fitsa and has been stonewalled. So she let Pluti offer to handle it for her? Not a good executive style.

Bill this recap rocks! I'm laughing and picturing little Lalo in his shiny little shark suit and slicked back black hair. How much time is it going to take for his mom to ask him the *real* reason why he wants to go to Pluty's ranch? Remember when PLuty put Lalo up to fighting that little boy at the ranch? Lalo wants to apologize to the little boy ..I'm betting Ithabill has nailed this anvil!!

Well at least the director of Playa M has the power to threaten Helena to open her eyes and take control of her own project. There is another anvil here, the one where PLuty actually tried to bribe this guy with cash and the director threw the cash back in Pluty's face!

I agree with.Guerra on the well choreographed cat fight. Well done and hilarious!! And you are all so right about Marcela being the smartest one in the novella with the fake thesis in her hands!! At least Helena is smart enough to mentor Marcella and believe in her enough to lend the thesis to her. Gertie

TJ said Modesto "can never talk when it is necessary because it is never the right time." The worst was at the funeral. He accused Renato of causing his mother problems, but as soon as Renato turned it around and said Modesto caused the problems, how did Modesto answer? "How dare you talk about such things at a funeral? Have you no respect for your mother??" What's salsa for the pollo is salsa for the puerco!

Someone connected Lalo's apology to him wanting to go back to Pluto's ranch. That made me think. Back at the ranch, didn't he beat the laborer's son by cheating, because Pluto put him up to it? A thoughtful boy like Lalo, maybe that's been bothering his conscience all this time, and now that he knows how to clear his conscience, he wants to go back there and apologize to the boy. Yet another scratch in Pluto's shiny armor.

Gertie, I didn't mean to co-opt your thunder about Lalo at the ranch. We were posting simultaneously. Great minds think alike!

Blue- good to see you here :) I think Avon must be a HUGE sponsor in Mexico, cause they are popping up everywhere, lol. I can't beleive another TN set in Avon. Maybe it's like a sequel to UFCS, lol.

I don't think Lalo cheated at that fight on the ranch but he did start it at Pluti's encouragement.

'bout time things started happening around here!

Marcela should have been with this guy from the Playa. She's smart, he's smart, they would've had genius kids together.

But was that thesis fake? I thought Pluti didn't want anyone to see it since it was different that Helena's proposal and she would've been cleared of stealing it from Antonia. Whatever. As long as someone figures out that Pluti doesn't deserve those shiny suits. They'd be more appropriate for Luis Renato.

Kelly

Kelly- yes that is the fake thesis Pluti cooked up, after the burned Antonia's real ones at his house in a barrel. I think there may be an original somewhere, maybe at the school Antonia attended. I too hope Marcela sees what a fake this thesis is.

Awesome Paula H. Great minds *do* think alike! And Lalo *is* a thoughtful little boy like you say, so at some point he should bring up the fight with his mom...or just try to apologize to the kid without telling anyone. I'm thinking that Helena isn't going to be in the mood to go to Pluty's ranch because All kinds of things are hitting the fan with Fitsa and if PLuty tells her one more time not to worry about it, she's going to kick him in his shiny pants. I'm laughing at Kelly's comment about the director and Marcella having genius kids together. And they would be *ethical* genius kids!! Gertie.

I'm chiming in late as usual, but wanted to thank Bill (and CHF and TJ) for their fine recap(s). Lalito in a shiny suit would make a great nightmare scene for Helena.

I always feel annoyed when we're approaching ultimas semanas (sorry to bring that up, but we know we're closing in) and suddenly there's a brand new storyline. Mimi and Dagoberto? Yawn. Dogbert looks familiar - was he Arnold from Familia?

And why is Renato taking so long to tell Adriano who he is? It is a train wreck waiting to happen. I hate when obvious time bombs are left to tick out in the open.

Anyway, while the prospect of outing himself to Adriano as a gay man might be daunting, I would personally be much more embarrassed to let people know I'm related to Modesto. *shudder*

Julie- that was was Ahhnauld from UFCS, that is Dagoberto here. I laughed like crazy when I saw him, so different from UFCS where we all loved him.

Also wanted to let y'all know the recap will be up on Saturday morning. Good night y'all.
