Amor Bravío #129 (Uni 124) Mon 2/18/13

Capitulo #129: Las Mujeres Se Mandan

Lo del pasado

El Diablo calls Natalia to check up on whether Iagho called her, after which he tells Omar to listen well to his next orders.  Iagho doesn't want Bratgirl's company or her sexual services.  Amanda is perplexed at El Diablo's attitude about Natalia's pregnancy.  Refugio tells Marianno about what she saw in the hotel corridor in Metepec.  Daniel and Camila talk when he returns from the airport and he tells her he will be leaving the ranch for a rented house in Aculco until they know the final medical report.

Lo de Nuevo

Hostal de Amanda: Aaron gives Natalia the first baby gift (baby shoes) and the assurance that her baby will have many male role models with whom to play futbol (if it's a boy) or to give parties for (if it's a girl). Teresa catches part of this conversation and explains she would love to have children but her clock is ticking on that one. Aaron looks at both women but with no obvious romantic interest in either as they sit down to continue the conversation.

La Malquerida, Courtyard: Daniel tells Camila to be extra careful around El Diablo. He was the one who got Abe to come from Chile with the specific objective of the scheme ending in their separation. The timing of his arrival on the day they returned from their honeymoon was deliberate so as to not allow them any reaction time. She can't quite believe it, but then comments on how perverse this is. Daniel makes her promise him that no matter what happens or appears to be said, she's to call him. She nods, but starts crying. Their sad song plays.

Hostal de Amanda: Teresa and Natalia talk about single motherhood vs. being married first. Although she would prefer to have a child with a man she loves, Teresa has made up her mind to have a child, punto. Natalia is a little shocked.

Restaurant in Toluca: Hissadora, resplendent in her predator-print dress, sits with Cayetonto and some hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. He says that while it's a bit early for him he will have a drink. She asks him about the family problems and he tells her about The Full Catastrophe, including that El Diablo came over to read Iagho the riot act about his treatment of Natalia. Hissadora points out that he has grown sons, but that with daughters it's different. “Imagine that you had a daughter and someone did this to her” she starts off and he cuts her off at the pass. She tells him not to dwell on it; it's out of his hands now. He concedes and she goes on about how Mariano will move to his new house, Pablo is living with “that girl” and soon Iagho will be living with Natalia. He is sad that his family is up in smoke. She tells him that life is giving them a new opportunity together. They're waiting for his lawyer to deliver the divorce decree. He kisses her and exits for the men's room. Suspense leitmotif as she looks around, then removes a glass vial from her purse and spills its contents into his drink.

La Malquerida, Courtyard: Camila tells him he should leave before her heart breaks. Daniel says he doesn't want to leave but if he stays the situation will be unbearable for him as well. He tells her the situation is temporary because their love is indestructible. At Camila's question he tells her he will leave after he finds a house in Aculco. She tells him she can't imagine La Malquerida without him. [The music and the sound of the fountain are downing out some of the dialogue here.] Camila heads to her car and drives off to meet Mariano at the hospital. The sad song plays. It ends as Rodolfo enters and Daniel explains he has to leave but would he please watch out for Camila for him. Rodolfo promises to and promises the help of the other men.

Restaurant (location unknown): El Diablo talks to Estevez on his cell phone, saying to stop pressuring him. He has just over a month to hand him La Malquerida, lock, no stock, and no barrel. Estevez tells him time is flying fast and he has no second chance. Failure this time will result in a trip to la carcel. El Diablo says that will never happen, ends the call impatiently, then looks up at the sound of his name to see El Gordo, risen from LFDD's cemeterio, who enters with a red cooler full of death. He sits down and tells him that it was a lot of trouble acquiring the contents. He had to get a lab tech drunk to get to it. The virus had been eradicated in Mexico and the vaccine against it has to come from South America or Europe. It is extremely dangerous. El Diablo hands him a briefcase full of cash, which he opens to check. All appears to be there, and it's in US dollars. El Diablo's characteristic operatic laugh is a little toned down, but he's showing all his fangs as he moves the cooler off the table and out of sight of the rest of the restaurant's occupants.

La Malquerida, Parlour: Augustina greets a friend, who arrives with another lady. The friend comments about how she sees so little of Augustina since she married El Diablo and how he takes up all her time and attention. She herself just got back from a trip and conveys her condolences about Ximena. She presents Sonia, who is interested in the retirement fund. She had heard that Augustina's funds are in the US and despite they're being out of Mexico, she'd rather invest her money with Augustina. [Acme Anvils just sent over another one.]

Viviana's Place: She and Rafael return and things are awkward between them. He's upset that things aren't as he wrote them in his head, but avoids talking about it when he checks his cell phone and sees there is a message from his editor. He leaves the room to return the call.

Metepec Hospital, Waiting Room: Rocio's doctor is filling Mariano in on her progress. Mauricio (the architect) arrives and Mariano apologises for not being in touch the past few days. He explains that the house is almost finished, but needs to be decorated and furnished. Teresa arrives before they can really have that conversation; Mariano introduces them. She asks about Rocio and he tells her that she has improved and the doctor has recommended therapy. A nurse comes out to fetch Mariano to talk to the doctor. He exits, leaving Teresa and Mauricio in the waiting room.

Rocio's Room: The doctor checks the equipment as Mariano enters and sits at the bedside. At the sound of his voice she wakes and discovers her speech is badly slurred and she cannot move. The doctor tells her she had suffered a stroke and will be unable to move for the moment. Despite Mariano's attempt at calming her down she becomes hysterical. Mariano dodges her question about where his father is.

Metepec Hospital, Waiting Room: Teresa caught the gist of Maricio's conversation with Mariano and offers her help. A little too enthusiastically. She appears to be flirting with him, smiling in a very predatory way, and he looks a bit perplexed.

La Malquerida, Courtyard: Pablo and Luzma return; the female servants come out to greet them. She talks about returning to school but Pablo reminds her she has to rest for now. Luzma asks her mother to call Padre Anselmo and she has already; the couple who were going to adopt the baby already know. Piedad tells him that Mayelin is waiting for him in the study and Luzma sends him there, saying not to keep her waiting since she was there for them. He exits.

La Malquerida, Parlour: Daniel – clad in a charro suit [How many does he own?] – explains he is going to look at a house in Aculco; she couldn't gloat any more explicitly. [Bitch.] Miriam thanks her very politely for all she did for Daniel, happy to finally have a home with her husband. Dante talks about finding another place to stay, but Daniel invites him to join them. He tries to decline, saying he will stay at the hostal, but both Daniel and Miriam insist he accompany them. He finally accepts. Augustina then pushes to find out when they are returning to Chile because surely once all the papers are signed and Camila gets La Malquerida as she should have had from the start there will be no reason for them to stay. [Could you be more obvious, Bitch?] Her tone is not lost on Daniel, who is saved from having to react to it when Pablo and Luzma enter. He hugs Luzma, who is very happy to see him. Miriam gives Luzma her condolences. Piedad mentions that Camila gave instructions for their stay and Augustina is offended that she has invited Luzma and Pablo to stay at La Malquerida once again. She exits with poorly disguised pique. Luzma is not altogether comfortable about this, but Daniel tells her that if Camila said she can stay, she is to stay. Daniel tells them they should take the room they had before; Luzma kisses him and says “You and Camila are the best”. Miriam has of course noticed that Daniel has endeared himself to others and that he had her from the get-go. He starts to get uncomfortable with this and says he has to go. She wants to accompany him, but he tells her she should rest. She is itching for the normal life again... and all that implies. Daniel exits uncomfortably.

Study: Pablo enters to find Mayalin studying stuff on the laptop, eager to begin working on him. He closes the laptop, explaining they'll start tomorrow. He's had so much to do today. She asks about Luzma and he tells her that she will have to fully recover. She says she knows the whole story and thinks it was a great thing for Pablo to do for her. He explains it's nothing particularly unusual or heroic; he loves Luzma. Mayelin says something about not finding anyone like him and he tells her it's a question of time and she'll find someone soon. They'll start work tomorrow. [Pablo, do yourself a huge favor and introduce her to Rodolfo. She will go loca over him.]

Viviana's Place: Camila arrives en route to the hospital and Viviana leads her to the couch so they can sit down and let it all hang out.

Hostal de Amanda: The brothers Quintana talk as Rafael's cell phone rings. It's Daniel, who needs to talk to him. He explains he is leaving La Malquerida, but would prefer to give him the details in person. He's on his way there.

Viviana's Place: Camila tells her that she fears that Daniel's departure is the beginning of the end. She felt suffocated with Miriam there and she fears that he still feels the same about her despite his declarations of love. Viviana tells her not to be negative; when Miriam's doctors give their reports all will be put right.

Hostal de Amanda: Rafael explains that Vivi accepted the ring but not the marriage proposal. Aaron tells him to remember that Bruno had a serious effect on Vivi and part of her is still afraid. She needs to learn to manage it and this will not happen overnight. He will have to be patient.

Viviana's Place: Now they're talking about Vivi's problem as Vivi brings in the coffee. Camila doesn't understand why Vivi refused Rafael's proposal.  She was having anxiety attacks at the concept of marriage.  Camila's situation is a bit different because by the time she married Daniel she was very much in love with him and had no fears.  Camila tells Vivi that her fears are cropping up in the midst of her happiness; she has to allow herself to be happy. Rafael is a stupendous guy and she should be extremely happy with him.

Restaurant in Toluca: Cayetonto is behavng like a lovesick teen over our favorite Black Widow viper. He has obviously drank the glass dry. The lawyer arrives with the brown envelope, which Hissadora snatches out of his hand. She immediately liberates the document and happily announces to Cayetonto that he is free and now they can get married. Unfortunately, we do not see the lawyer's reaction.

Osvaldo Becerra's Office: Comandante Juarez arrives with the autopsy results on Padre Baldomero. Daniel was right; the padre was suffocated. Although there was a witness who reported seeing a woman matching Hissadora's description near the scene, they need to prove it was Hissadora before they arrest her. [¡Andale, andale! She's going to be out of the country very soon!]

El Diablo's Lair; Study: He opens the cooler and takes out a vial to show to Omar. He explains that this is to be placed in the drinking water in all the taurine corrals. He is to figure out how to do this and to whom the task should be delegated. The virus is extremely dangerous and must not be touched directly. Afterwards, “we'll talk about that other matter I'm asking of you.” Suspense musical flourish.

Hostal de Amanda: Daniel has just finished explaining most of the issue, finishing with reporting that the Alonso issue isn't yet resolved either. He doesn't want to leave Camila and isn't sure if being away from Camila is worse than being near her under the current conditions. He is leaving the bigger part of himself behind with Camila.  Rafael knows of someone with a house for rent and they prepare to go there.

Metepec Hospital: Teresa sits on the couch as Mariano comes out and Camila arrives. He greets Camila and explains that his mother woke up but can't move and can't talk as she could before. Teresa says his mother is very strong and won't give up easily. Mariano hopes so as he calls Mauricio over and explains that the house will need to be modified to have wheelchair ramps and a bathroom suitable for his mother. He agrees and Camila offers to help, which Teresa doesn't like one bit.

Aculco, Street: Natalia and Rodolfo encounter each other on the street and it's awkward. He tries to sound indifferent, but tells her he would never have treated her this way. She asks if it was true that he and Ileana went out to make her jealous and he tells her it's true. We hear their song. Finally, he tells her if she needs him he's there for her. He goes about his business and she looks confused again and a little sad.

Rental House: A woman shows Daniel, Rafael, and Aaron inside; all the furniture is covered in white sheets. She explains about the deposit and the contract (or lease). The place is declared satisfactory. She hands over the keys. Daniel looks like he's being marched up the steps to the guillotine.

La Malquerida, Luzma's Room: She is talking to Padre Anselmo, telling him that although everyone tells her it's not her fault she can't stop feeling guilty. He tells her this is a natural response and the body is perfect in what it does. When something is this wrong with a baby the body rejects it. This just wasn't meant to be. He reminds her that the baby is with God and she did nothing to cause this. She asks if God will punish her for not wanting the baby.  The padre tells her that God does not punish and she should not feel guilty any more.

Road just out of D.F. [here is tonight's comic relief]: Iagho looks distracted as he drives and is suddenly surrounded just outside the city limits by two black cars belonging to El Diablo's henchmen. He stops, exits his car, and is then grabbed and forced down on his knees by Omar and three others point assault weapons at him. He cringes in abject fear, probably wishing he had invested in Depends and dark pants as Omar says “We're here to deliver a message from Dionicio Ferrer.”

Metepec Hospital: Mauricio writes a few things down, shakes Camila's hand, and exits. Teresa sits on the couch with Camila and pretty much tells her that she should leave Mariano alone and clear the path for her. Camila looks a little shocked.

Avances

Iagho gets intimidated, Hissadora and Cayetano get intimate, Daniel and Camila get irate.

Gracias UA! Nice you mentioned El Gordo with the red cooler of death; He looked so familiar, but I was having trouble placing him. He is your typical stock henchman. They must have a ready supply of guys like this in central casting. I thought he said he had to bribe (suborn) the guy in the lab. My absolute favorite aside came at the very end: "[here is tonight's comic relief]" when Iago gets ambushed by the other henchmen.

I'm not liking Teresa and her biological clock. She's a bit calculating for my taste. I don't like Miriam either, but she's the innocent lamb here, whereas Teresa's a bit of a conniver. —AgnesNJ

Many thanks for the fast recap UA!

I like Aaron and Teresa. He could be a calming force for her.

Dante will live with Mir and Dan at Rafa's old house? Interesting.

I wonder if Omar will follow through with infecting the water for all of the bulls. He seemed to have reservations.

Anvil prediction - someone will touch the virus. Dio said no human can touch it and Omar said that he would use gloves.

Many thanks UA for the humorous and fast recap. I'm still laughing at your asides for Gussie and Mayalen. I loved the comic relief refernce to Iago and the investing in Depends. I thought the same thing. Hmm, will someone touch that virus? It makes you wonder.

Excellent recap Urban. Got to get to bed, so more thoughts tomorrow. I laughed so hard at the thought of Yago needing Depends. :)

Camila really is getting it on all sides. On one side she has innocent, sweetness and light Miriam pawing all over a man she doesn't realize belongs to both of them, and trying to be Cam's best friend. While on the other side she has Teresa coming full force at her with a "b!tch stay away from my man" attitude over a man that isn't even hers and who Cam didn't know they were competing for. Can't wait to see Cam's response.

and i would like to add to the comment above by Vivi in DC loki's WTF face. :P (if u guys don't know who da hell that is, watch the movie "thor"). so Teresa's really getting on my nerves. she's still budging in on Mariano's life, but he's doing sorta the same for Cami & Cami's still stuck on Dan & Dan's stuck w/ the wife who has no clue what da hell's going on. & ha ha to that Yago jerk who had it coming. the devil warned ya, kid, to not make a fool outta him! his threats are to be taken seriously, indeed. and i kinda understand where Cami's friend, Vivi, is coming from. like, dude, don't push it. u gotta be patient & understanding 'cuz that girl's been through a lot. so the pressure of getting married is a bit too much for her & she's being realistic here: life isn't a fairytale! well, that's all i've got for now! 'kay, see ya! bye...

The look on Iagho's face when Omar grabbed him was priceless. He absolutely deserved this not just for Natalia, but for everyone else he's done this to.

I'm not sure that Camila helping Mariano out at this point is a good thing, but they do tell you that when you've got romantic problems work is the best medicine. Problem here is that it will add fuel to Mariano's fire and now Teresa will get bitchy with her when she least needs this.

The warning about the danger of the virus is absolute foreshadowing that somebody is going to get careless. I hope nobody at the ranch dies; I'd rather it be one of El Diablo's henchmen.

Or Leoncerdo, if he breaks out of the carcel and heads for the ranch.

Love your recaps UA! I'm wondering if Camila is the one who will be infected with the virus since in the previous episode Rodolfo made a comment on her being distracted when she went to tend to the ailing bull and was almost hurt by her carelessness?

UA thanks for the recap.

Wow Cayetonto's pie cart is heading for him at such a fast speed it really does not look good for him. What makes his foolishness so sad is that in his right mind, I don't think he would have abandoned his family right now. If Isa takes him out, I hope he sees her for who she really is and realizes his mistakes.

Yes the warnings about the virus seem to indicate someone will touch it and Icky Tio can have the honors. It will be interesting to see how it plays out b/c if Omar or a lackey does it and it seems as if there are quite a few bulls on the ranch, how can someone on staff not see him/them? Would they try to do it at night which could be dangerous as well?

Gussy's anvil seems to be getting closer and her behavior last night was very bad. The ranch is still in Dan's name and why would he just sign it over when her evil husband is trying to destroy it? Her attitude w/Luzma and Pablo after all their troubles was a new low for her.

Jardinera - sorry about the DA spoilers.

OMG, that is a possibility. That would be her third trip to the hospital in this tale and when El Diablo is discovered to be the guilty party there will be a lynch mob out for him (i.e., the entire male staff at La Malquerida, led by Daniel).

El Diablo's reaction to that could be his unmasking... and unmaking.

Thanks UA, we can always count on you to get the recap up early for the start of the week to come.
There are so many delicious happenings pending right now. Can't wait for them to spring. I hope they don't all spring at the same time. Please give them to us in doses.
The virus is dangerous if touched but we don't know if it's lethal. So who knows you will be the one to come in contact. We know who wouldn't touch it if it were lethal. Camila. I'm fairly certain that she will not die in this show. I'm hoping it's Omar so that there is a direct link to Dion.

Tks UA, beautiful fan. Do you have them displayed? How many do you have & where did you collect them?

Seems to me, several people could come in contact with the virus.

What TN was the pie cart in, I'm going to try & find the scene since it's referred to so often.

Any of those henchmen will do; the biker types holding the assault weapons look dumb enough to make this mistake while Omar looks smart enough to be careful.

Variopinta, most of the fans displayed on this blog were purchased in Spain when I was on vacation there. They are common souvenirs there, sold in the street for 250 pesetas or 5 for 1,000 at the time (about $2 each US). I don't have a place to display them in my home, so they sit closed in three plastic storage containers where they stay clean. I have a total of about 60 fans of various colors and I actually use them.

The ones with the embroidery and sequins came from an Asian-owned bargain store in my neighborhood. At most I paid $2 for each. I've given them as gifts to friends.

I totally believe that we need to revive the folding fan as an actual accessory for all women, not just opera stars and actresses using them on stage.

Urban Anthropologist, what a gem you have written. Thank you so much!

I apologized on the posts from yesterday on my part in the OT/DA interruptions.

I've looked on your blog page to see where your posting rules are located, but never found them before I started posting. I've only posted on one other blog and rarely do so as online groups can come with so many issues.

This group seems "issue" free and a safe place to post comments on a topic (the novelas) that are of interest to me.

It would very much help newcomers like me to know the rules of the road before posting. I understand why my hand was slapped by Jardinera last night. I certainly did not mean to offend the group as a whole.

If the rules were there to see, then I've missed them and, once again, apologize for that, too.

Some bullet point rules would help so that newbies like me do not offend. Oh, and if there are people of importance that we need to know, respect, etc (Melinama?), please identify them so that they are not offended as well.

Thank you.

Fatima

The only ones I really know are:

1. No Spoilers. There are a few people who post here from Mexico who have seen the series 4 months ahead of us and they comply with this rule.

2. No insults directed at other members. Self-explanatory.

3. No major digressions because we want to keep this on track.

I do think it would help if you posted that on your side bar as bullet points for posting. I saw the "no spoilers" rule at the top of the sidebar.

You know how it goes, some of us are just slow on what seems to be obvious to all. :))

Thank you, UA.

Fatima

Fatima- Other than the no spoilers and be nice rules, the no getting off topic rule isn't hard and fast. It's more of a self check kind of thing and being respectful of the purpose of the blog. But heaven knows all of us vets (can't believe I'm a vet now) have gone off on tangents about our hobbies (sports are a fave for many here, especially college basketball), our families, our travels, etc. (I will raise my hand as being guilty of this on occasion.) We haven't minded and it gives us deeper insight into each other and creates a real sense of community. We just need to not abuse it, so that the blog turns into a site for anything other than the discussion of tns-- I've been part of some book clubs that turn into that, and it's annoying for those of us who read the books and actually want to discuss them.

So basically what I'm saying is that other than the no spolier and be nice rules, I really wouldn't want to see the no tangents rule written on the sidebar as a hard and fast rule.

Vivi in DC and Urban Anthropologist, thanks for your comments re rules for posting and will follow your lead. Thanks again.

Fatima

Not-a-Dan-Fan- ITA with you and Aaron on Rafa giving Vivi some time and being patient. He did admit that his writer’s brain created this whole fairytale scenario, and it was difficult for him to accept the very different reality of Vivi’s reaction. At least she’s wearing the ring, even if she didn’t say yes.

Did you all catch the knowing smile Dan gave Dante when he said he’d rather stay at the Hostal where Teresa is staying? I think Dan definitely is matchmaking those two. I’m surprised that Miriam didn’t ask Dante if he and Teresa are an item since he said he attended a wedding with her. Teresa’s determination to have a baby before her biological clock runs low is interesting. Her saying she doesn’t care if the father is with her or not makes me wonder if we’ll see her knocked up by the end of this. It’s not looking like Camila’s going to turn up pregnant any time soon.

ITA with you all that somebody’s going to be infected by this virus. Lurker in AZ- Interesting theory about it being Camila. That would certainly frustrate Dio since he’s doing this in part to have her turn to him as her last hope and savior—not to be her killer! We’ll have to wait and see.

In addition to Yago’s scared face, Cayetano’s doped-up happy grin also had me chuckling. I really don’t want Isa to succeed in slowly making him lose his will and then killing him with her potions, but it might be fun to watch for a little while.

"A los malos pasos darle prisa."

I heard this phrase in two separate tns last night. In AB, Dan says it about moving away from Camila and the hacienda. In Eva, Mimi says it about leaving JC, her b&b and Mexico City.

It basically means that it's best to get something difficult over and done with-- to do it quickly. To rip the bandaid off. Is there a better English phrase anyone can think of?

38 episodes to go and I have to say I'm going to mourn at the end of this series no matter what's waiting for us.

Camila has to survive this infection if she is to be the victim, but think of how ironic this is in view of El Diablo's plans and how amused Hissadora would be at it.

@Fatima, since you so graciously asked for guidance, I just wanted to chime in on the "guidelines". This blog was started by Melinama (now known as "Chapel Hill Fiddler") back in about 2006, when she started watching Alborada. It was a generous personal endeavor and it caught my eye back then for the same reason most of us have ended up here. Here is a link to the very beginning

The general tone over the years has been very convivial, with only a couple of troll attacks, which died a natural death. The NO SPOILER rule is hard and fast for obvious reasons and I, for one, appreciate the restraint of those who already know the story.

The only other of Melinama's rules I can remember has to do with no gossip about personal details of the actors. I am completely on board with this as there are a ton of other places to get that info and our comments are already running pretty long with intelligent, pertinent give and take. It's hard sometimes when something about an actor's appearance or behaviour has a big impact on the way the show is going though (eg: Jorge Salinas' real-life illness affecting his role in La Que No Podia Amar). But we try to keep it to a minimum, and there's no harm in providing an interesting link here & there.

In general, I think of this blog as a nice place to visit with intelligent, witty, talented friends every day with the ulterior motive of improving my spanish. That's really the guiding principle.

Vivi - I did catch Dante's smile and was quite pleased. I like Teresa and Dante together more than her w/Mariano. She's a vibrant dynamic woman and though she's being bit stalkery I like that she is up front about her actions. She and Dante looked great together at Cam & Dan's wedding.

I really appreciate your help, LXV. :)

Thank you.

Fatima

Variopinta - I don't think any TN has had a pie cart in it. Perhaps Vivi would know? I've come to enjoy it as an expression often used on this blog in a way similar to anvil. We often hope a pie cart or anvil will fall on villains who are tormenting our protagonist friends.

Fatima: "I've only posted on one other blog and rarely do so as online groups can come with so many issues.

This group seems "issue" free and a safe place to post comments on a topic (the novelas) that are of interest to me."--I know what you mean!! I can't believe how vicious people can be in those online groups. The IMDb page for Days of Our Lives is a prime example of that. So much hate (and I'm not exaggerating) spewed into the Universe.

I believe there is also a rule against gossiping about the actors.

Nanette

Fatima - Don't feel badly about your DA mistake as other veterans like myself were right there with you. If you need to chat about the series, feel free to e-mail me as I love British period pieces. Just click on my name and my e-mail should be displayed.

My first notice of the pie cart reference was in Pasion. I think this image seemed to fit the early 1800s(?)period TN well. Or maybe it was a TN before that of a similar(can't remember the name of the other TN).

Back to lurking,

Beth

UA: Love how you separate the action by location. Flows really well for me.

Was a little surprised that Vivi accepted the ring but not the proposal. That seemed a little strange to me.

Teresa wanting a child. Is this why she's chasing Mariano? Or does she love him? Or both?

Gussie was horrible to Luz and Pablo and I can't wait for her downfall. I know, at heart, she's a good person and don't want her to suffer any horrific end, but she does need to be taken down more than a little bit.

LXV: I see you commented before me re: the gossiping.

Karen: I too love the Masterpiece Theatre/BBC/British period shows (watching Ripper Street now and love The Hour--do you remember The Pallisers?).

Fatima: we all got carried away re: DA. We are a passionate group.

Back to AB: I must be going through end of season-itis. I just finished DA, and the series finale of Fringe. I was thinking this morning that I was ready for AB to end. Maybe it's just me dreading the big bad guy push that's sure to be coming.

I always thought the pie cart, like the anvil, refers to something further back in pop history. Like the anvils are from all those Loony Toons episodes, I thought the image of getting hit by the pie cart goes back to vaudeville (like when folks would get hit in the face with pies) or the Three Stooges or the Marx Brothers. I do remember a scene in one tn when everyone was hitting each other with cream pies, but I can't remember which one it was. The term "getting hit with the pie cart" came way before that though.

Yes, I forgot to mention the no gossip about actors’ personal lives or appearance (unless it affects the performance). That's a big one that we try to avoid, but sharing links is fine, like Agnes mentioned, and so is speaking about the actor's career.

Karen- I loved that knowing guy smile Dan and Dante shared about Teresa. I feel like Dante and Teresa are just hanging on to old feelings and not realizing that they are both ready to move on...to each other. They get along so well and so easily. Nothing is forced between them. And they look really hot together! I hope they both realize this soon.

UA, thanks for such a lucious recap. My favorite line (of many) is "Isadora, resplendent in her predator-print dress, sits with Cayetano and some hors d'oeuvres and cocktails."

I can't wait to see Isa's next move. It'll surprise the heck outta me if they get married. Instead, after Isa teaches him a lesson about what a fool he has been, I'm hoping that Roccio recovers and she and Cayetano renews their vows. They are more alike than they realize and therefore they deserve each other.

There was a list of villain deaths & I remember death by pie cart being on that.

apparently Daniel had no idea that Dante had feelings for Miriam otherwise I would think he would try to get that fire lit. Miriam likes Dante a lot.

Fram Gato Vijo's site, here's the last bit of dialogue between Cam and Dan drowned out by the music before Cam got into her car. I totally missed what Dan said at the end, but I did hear him refer to Miriam and his wife (mujer) and thought it was a bit of a slap in the face for him to refer to Miriam as such to Cami.

Cami: I can't imagine La Malquerida without you. I know you've been here for a very short time, but it's hard to imagine it without you anyway.

Dan: Trust me, if going away didn't mean hurting my daughter and my wife, I'd take you right now. I'd kidnap you and take you to a place where no one could find us.

UA - Muchas gracias. I missed it last night but thanks to you I feel like I saw it, even Yago's beatdown.

Camila and Vivi giving each other advice was funny (well, not funny, but you know) - each of them should follow her own advice. Viv telling Cam don't be negative (yet, she's being sort of negative about resolving her feelings re marriage) and Cam telling her don't give up on your love (Cam, you need a little bit more fight in you too).

Cayetarugo saying the drink made him feel "ligero" - yeah, you feel lighter because Isa just pulled that two-ton weight of your wallet off your back! lol

I thought Rodolfo told Natalia that even though he had told her to come to him if she needed anything, perhaps she should forget that he said it. He didn't say, but rather implied, that it would hurt him too much to see her knowing she doesn't feel anything for him. Maybe I misunderstood?

Teresa is fighting for her man (who isn't hers yet)! Don't like her stalkerish behavior, but she's going for it, knocking obstacles (i.e., Camila) out of her way. The thing is, I don't really feel that she's really in love with him as much as her bio clock is running away from her. I think her attention could easily be turned to someone else (Dante, perhaps).

Soyyo

Soyyo- You heard correctly. Both Rodolfo and Cam are pulling the "it's too painful for me to be around you right now" card.

I totally agree, which means that Teresa will compete with Dante's love-from-afar for Miriam. While Miriam doesn't have a high-power career, she's a city girl like Teresa.

Which makes the question of Miriam's fate even more interesting.

Breaking News: Joaquin Cordero has just died at the age of 90. Requiescat en pace, Senor.

Thanks Beth for the info and briefly making yourself known :)

Nanette - Missed "The Pallisers" by plan on viewing it after the semester is over. Loved "The Hour" but I'm too much of a chicken for "Ripper Street."

Karen: Pallisers-awesome. I like Ripper Street better than the one they're doing that takes place in post-Civil War New York.

Welcome Beth.

Flaco remembers Joaquin Cordero

Had to look up Joaquin Cordero, I remember him in FELS & Destilando Amor

I loved him in FELS. His timing was always right on the money and his character was lovable.

Now..... whom will Teresa ultimately have the catfight with and over whom?

I know Teresa has been a little (ok, a lot) aggressive in her pursuit of Mariano, but she was also a little right to talk to Camila. Mariano has made it clear that he likes Camila and being extra supportive just leads him on. Someone needs to tell her that if she doesn't ease up, she's going to have her own Miriam on her hands, and Teresa is the right person to be this direct. (Even if she would be better off with Dante, leaving Mariano and Miriam as the remaining couple which works out nicely given the whole baby Agatha situation. Just a thought).

Kelly

The question about a Miriam/Mariano hookup is Would Miriam Want to Live on a Ranch?

She's educated and intelligent and can manage a household, but would she want to live on a ranch away from a city? Not to mention the religious issue.

Is Dante Jewish?

Kelly: I agree re: Cam leading Mariano on. Can't she see what she's doing? Saying she's helping out a friend and that Mariano knows that she's not interested, so therefore that must mean that he's not getting the wrong idea, is just naive.

I think Mariano and Miriam had a little bit of a spark. I'm hoping they will end up together. Miriam will surely learn to love the ranches, since she is a Good Person and good people love the ranch, obvio. Plus then she and Agatha will be right next door. I don't want her to have to die; I want her to realize on her own that Daniel has changed a lot and they don't have the same connection anymore and to fall out of love with him and move on.

I don't think Dante is Jewish. He and Daniel were best friends before meeting Miriam and the Jewish population of Santiago is very small.

As with Dan, I don't think Dante's religion would matter.

I pointed out in an earlier discussion that if Abe earns a redemption (he still can) he could leave Chile and join the police force in D.F. which has a Jewish population of 50,000. That's almost twice that of Santiago and he can get the Nice Jewish Girl his parents would want for him if they were still alive. That's if he is to fulfill the definition of his name ("father of multitudes"). Of course, the girl he meets could have a nice brother or cousin, too.

I never saw the particular novela but I remember someone mentioning the pie cart was actually a truck (maybe delivering pies.) It appears at the finale of the novela when the villain (Sergio Sendal maybe) finally manages to have all the money to himself and immediately gets hit by the truck in the street. Sweet swift justice.

Urban, thanks for the great and witty recaps and I'm an opera fan, too.

GinCA

UA: At the rate Isadora is working on Cayetano, Mariano may not have a ranch left to invite Miriam, Theresa, Cam, or anyone else to live on, just an acre or so with a half finished house overlooking "La Buenaventura: Mexico's Premier Destination for an Affair to Remember," the widow Alberran proprietrix.

UA: Thanks for the sad news on Joaquin Cordero. I had no idea that he was 90.
I enjoyed him in Fuego en la sangre. I caught the end of what looked like a funeral scene and didn't realize who had died.

Thanks for this excellent recap, UA. You always do such a great job.

My heart really went out to Rocio last night. No one deserves such as that. Shame on Cayetano and shame on Yago.

My favorite scene was between Teresa and Mauricio. She certainly is a bold pushy little thing, isn't she?

Carlos

Sergio Sendel hit by a pie truck?! LOL! What tn? I must see a clip of that. :)

Dante wears a rosary over his sexy man cleavage. He's not Jewish.

I can see how Teresa would be an excellent lawyer. She's tenacious!

How is Mariano getting the wrong idea? Does he think by offering to help him with finishing his house it means Camila is falling for him? Nope. I think he's still pretty darn clear that Cam is still firmly and deeply in love with Dan and that he's still firmly and clearly in the friend zone. The only reason Mariano thinks he has a chance is because it looks like Cam and Dan are breaking up. If Cam were hiding out in her cabin and not seeing or speaking to him or anyone else, he would STILL be holding out the same hope and ignoring Teresa.

I missed the rosary in that episode; thanks for the heads-up, Vivi.

GinCA, opera and telenovelas have much in common. In case you weren't here for the first week of this series' recaps, I dubbed Dionicio El Diablo because of Cesar Evora's basso profundo and the beard.

Vivi: I think the more time Cam and Mariano spend together, the more hope he'll have that he'll win her. Delusional, I know, but I can see it happening. The question is, will Cam?

UA: if you think Miriam wouldn't have a prob with Dante's religion, why would she have one with Mariano?

Mariano's

Nanette and Karen, thank you for kind comments. :))

Fatima

I think Dante would win because of the city-boy thing and he's Chilean. He's taken a serious liking to Mexico, but he's still more familiar.
