Feliz Dia de los Enamorados…let's see how all of our enamorados fare tonight….
Refugio prays to the Virgen to fix everything…Rocio, Cayetano, Yago, Pablo and Luzma…she knows it's a lot to ask, but this family sho'nuf needs it!
Pablo is trying to get Luzma to feel a little hope, and she'd love to leave everything behind. She wonders if the baby forgives her for resenting it. Pablo figures babies are just nice like that. Luzma says she really did end up loving the innocent little creature. Of course, says Pablo, because she has a big heart.
Abraham and Dante walk Miriam to her door. They head back downstairs and confab. Abraham would like Dante's help keeping the Daniel-Camila relationship a secret from Miriam. Abraham knows even though they're trying to hide it, it's only a matter of time before the whole thing blows up on them! Dante tells him that if Daniel leaves Miriam for Camila, she'll find a new love. Abraham disagrees.
Piedad thanks Hipolito for staying at the hospital with her. She's lost her appetite from worry, but she doesn't want him to go hungry. Daniel arrives and gives Piedad his condolences. Hipolito is the one who tells him that Camila is having dinner with Mariano. Pablo comes out and greets them all, to tell them he's staying the night. Luzma just wanted to see her mom before they sedate her for the night. Pablo apologizes to Daniel for not being able to go in to se Luzma. Daniel asks Pablo to give Luzma a kiss for him and goes to deal with Wife #2.
Luzma talks to her mom about her feelings of loss. Piedad understands. She tells Luzma she'll have more kids with Pablo and the nightmare is over.
Mariano and Camila are enjoying some tacos. Camila tells him she understands how dependent his mother is going to be on him and his brothers. She warns him to stop the wedding between Cayetano and Isadora, but Mariano doesn't think he can do anything. He even told his father what Eleuterio overheard, but Cayetano wouldn't believe it. Camila calls her the queen of manipulation and blackmail. Mariano's worried about his dad, but he hopes he'll catch on in enough time. Camila reaches out to rub his arm in consolation as Daniel comes in to announce that her mother isn't feeling well and she has to go to the ranch. "Oh, her pressure dropped, or her blood sugar or something." Daniel talks them out of trying to call. Camila asks Mariano to please talk Pablo into taking Luzma back to La Malquerida. They make arrangements to get her car back to her and as she leaves, Daniel tells Mariano to leave his woman alone. Caveman.
Ileana is mocking Yago's plight, or rather, mocking all the threats made by Cayetano and Dionisio. She doesn't think they'll carry out their threats. He's buying it for now. Only because he doesn't know about all the skeletons in Dio's closet! He was afraid of Dionisio..more than of his dad, but idiotic Ileana talks him out of it.
Daniel pretends to call La Malquerida from his phone, but the line is busy. Camila gets into the truck.
Dio comes to the hostal, pretending to be the concerned father. He pretends to forgive her for not trusting him with the news. He offers his support…er, financial support anyway. Amanda tells him they can manage. Dio also offers protection and "total" support. Natalia admits she was afraid of his reaction. Dio asks whether she wants to get married or raise the baby alone. He questions whether she made up her mind alone and says if she changes her mind, he'll support her. Oh, and by the way…I threatened Yago…no need to thank me.
Rodolfo is sulking and hasn't eaten dinner. Dorotea and Eleuterio are worried about him. Rodolfo is furious about Natalia getting knocked up by Yago. Dorotea reasuures him that he's a way better guy than yago. He can't help being hurt that Natalia didn't think so. Dorotea thinks that Yago was just in the right place at the right time, or Natalia would be with Rodolfo instead. Rodolfo thought about offering to be there for her, but he just couldn't do it. He doesn't want her with him because he's her safety net. He's going to stay away from her and stay out of her life and forget about her forever. Riiiiiiight.
Rafa and Vivi…our one? happy couple are getting ready for bed. Rafa has a surprise for her before dawn tomorrow, so they need to get to sleep ASAP. Vivi wants to talk about Roman, but he says they can talk after the thing they're going to do. Smoochies…so much for sleeping!
Camila is frustrated by the busy phone. Daniel admits it's because he dialed a wrong number. And also that her mom is fine. "I lied to you. You were with Mariano all day and you didn't call to tell me about Luzma and I can't stand you being with him. SoI lied to you." Camila reminds him that he was with Miriam all day, so he can stuff it. "I don't think I should be holding back what I'm feeling. What's wrong with you? Who gave you the right to lie to me, but I have to put up with all the stuff you're doing that I don't like? That's crap, man! I'm not going to stop hanging out with my friends, got it?" She walks away from him and he chases her down…conveniently making enough noise to attract Miriam's attention. Daniel apologizes. Miriam watches them standing there, but really from up there, this could be a heated discussion about the best way to vaccinate cows. Or Camila could be venting to him about how much she misses her dead husband. Could be anything. What she's doing is venting her frustration about his first wife being too delicate to know the truth and there's nothing she can do about it. Daniel offers to leave, but Camila says no. "We just have to try to stay away from each other." Daniel doesn't think that's possible. Camila is worried about being carried away by her feelings and shouting that she loves him, consequences be damned. Miriam has a cara de confundida. Miriam wears pantyhose under her nightgown? Who did she piss off in the wardrobe department?
Natalia flashes back to all her greatest hits with Yago. Except she's probably not watching the exact same ones we're watching or she would maybe realize he looks like a tool. Yago flashes back to the oh-so-terrible news that while he may be a pouty little git, his sperm are champion swimmers. He thinks about all the arguments that provoked. He comes to the conclusion that damnit, they can't make him do anything! Yeah, we'll see about that.
Miriam is turning down the bed as Daniel walks in. She asks for an explanation…not about dinner, but about Camila. "You got here together and you were arguing. Why do you look and talk to each other that way if you barely know each other?"
Camila, also clad in pink, wishes she could close her eyes and just make Daniel appear in her bed. She hugs a pillow instead.
Miriam demands an answer. He tells her they were arguing. "Yeah, I got that part, but why was it so passionate? As if there was something between you?" Daniel says they were arguing over the ranch. He says he wants to give her his part of the ranch, but she's refusing. "You know what I'm like when I get mad." Miriam saw them struggling and Camila crying. Daniel apologizes for her having to see that. He asks her to go rest while he goes to get himself some dinner. Before he can leave, Miriam asks what happened all the time they were away from each other. "A lot of things, but now isn't the time. The only thing you have to worry about is getting better. Rest. There'll be time enough to talk about the details." He gets away with kissing her on the forehead, then leaves. From the look on her face, I'm not sure she's buying any of what he's selling.
So much for sleep! Rafa lounges in white satin sheets…Vivi puts on a sexy negligee…the room is decked out with candles…cue the smoochies!
Camila gets a call from Mariano. He asks about her mother and she just says she's doing fine. He was worried about her because of Daniel's attitude and his jealousy. He thinks it means Daniel doesn't trust Camila, which he doesn't agree with. Camila says they talked. She's glad he called and she'd like to spend some time with him tomorrow at the hospital. She'll send one of her guys to pick up the car and meet him around noon. She agrees to have lunch with him.
Daniel watches Camila get into bed. Dude, don't pull a Dio, please. And why did she never get blackout curtains?
Daniel meets up with Dante outside. Dante was just taking in the night sky. He notices that Daniel is about five different guys lately, depending on who he's with. "As your friend…I'm worried about Miriam. She may be an optimist, but I think she knows something's going on, even if she doesn't know what it is." Daniel says he didn't intend to lie to her and he hopes she'll be better soon so he can tell her the truth. It's not so easy for him to say what he wants to do. When he was back in Chile with Miriam it's like he was one guy, then he came to Mexico and now he wants to be with Camila. Someone spies on their conversation. Dante tells him we never step in the same river twice. Life changes us. Daniel says he loves Miriam, but in a different way. The passion is gone.
The alarm goes off way too early in the morning. Rafa rushes Vivi out of bed, but she's resisting…that wasn't what she was wearing last night. Rafa gets lured back to bed, but they still make it to their hot air balloon ride in time. They're going to go check out the Teotihuacan pyramids from the air.
Miriam wakes up alone and realizes Daniel never came to bed.
Vivi is loving the hot air balloon ride. They embark on a PSA about how popular the pyramids are and how they're a national treasure. Rafa asks her to look down, where to guys are holding up a biiiiig sign that says "Do you want to marry me?" As he asks her out loud, Vivi looks so shocked…it's as if the actress didn't see this in the script. He presents her with a big honkin' ring.
Miriam finds Daniel curled up with Agatha, who is enjoying this as much as…well, I would. Daniel says he meant to give her a goodnight kiss and fell asleep. Miriam hands Agatha off to Caridad to change her stinky diaper. Daniel waxes rhapsodic about New Baby Scent. Miriam tells Daniel she's feeling uncomfortable there, and she knows Agustina is uncomfortable with them being there. She wants to leave and begs him to say yes.
Tomorrow: Daniel leaves La Malquerida; Dionisio gloats he'll kill all the cattle in a week; Isadora visits a friendly herb seller who hints that what Isadora is buying is lethal.

What a non-Valentiney episode! Except for Rafa proposing to Vivi. I was half afraid he was going to surprise her with a quickie wedding after which they'd sign adoption papers! I'm glad he's proceeding at a more sedate pace :D

I'm a Dan-fan but I have to admit this was not his finest hour tonight. Lying about Agustina's health, lying to the fair Maid Miriam, my boy just needs to man up.
When is Cam gonna lock her door and get some decent window coverings!!!???

This is one of those episodes that is meant just to lead us to the upcoming events.
No comments on Daniel and Camila other than that the issue about Miriam and the truth is clearly being taken advantage of by El Diablo. It's a distraction so he can do his evil work with the virus.
I'm curious as to how El Diablo expects all the cattle to be dead within a week. How does he expect to initiate the virus unless he does it personally in the middle of the night? Like he would even go near a bull after the "accident" Hissadora set him up for. It amazes me that neither Dan nor Camila would have considered this possibility and made sure that some of the vaqueros were awake on the vampire shift until they could send the devil back to hell.
The only couple who got any Valentine activity here was Vivi and Rafa (and I think this was censored, but very cleverly).
Did anyone else get a flashback to ENDA with the avances of Hissadora buying the deadly stuff?
Finally, we have no better proof that the world is headed for an Idiocracy than Iago and Ileana's dismissal of the threats made by both Cayetano and El Diablo. If Hissadora's plan doesn't work quickly, Cayetano will not only disinherit this fool he'll toss him out on his arse. As for Iago himself how the hell can he think he could get away with his denial when he could be forced into a DNA test? It's not like he's an illiterate peasant with no education who isn't aware of such things.
Now if this novela were more typical we'd ultimately find out that he and Rocio's true son were switched at birth. [Emily Litella voice] Never mind.

I chuckled at the look on Refugio’s face when she spoke to La Virgen and said the Albarrans are falling apart, and had another good chuckle at your take on it—“she knows it's a lot to ask, but this family sho'nuf needs it!” LOL! As for Dan—ITA with all that this was one of Dan’s worst days. Reminded me of his early knucklehead days when he refused to believe Cam wasn’t the evil mastermind behind Miriam’s death. It was interesting that Dante pointed out exactly what some here have mentioned—the many faces of Dan. He’s a schizophrenic mess right now. Perhaps he needs to get away from BOTH Miriam and Camila to figure out who he is and what he wants out of his life these days? I wonder who was listening in on the conversation with Dante—Caridad? Dionisio? Agustina? Abe?
Yesterday the question was asked if the troubles Cam and Dan are having now don’t disprove that they actually love each other. Since I don’t think any relationship exists that doesn’t go through a rough patch where the couple struggles to see eye to eye, I don’t see them being at odds right now as being equal to them not loving each other. I do see the fact that they are both so comfortable being brutally honest with each other, as they were during last night’s argument, as being proof of their love and respect for each other. Telling an unhappy truth is not an easy thing—as Dan is experiencing with Miriam. But between Dan and Cam they are never afraid to tell the unvarnished truth. To me, this is a good sign.
I’m not saying they both aren’t screwed up right now and struggling to deal with this situation in the right way. They aren’t perfect. Why should they be? But I don’t see these troubles as a sign that their love never existed.

Now, for the things I enjoyed this episode—Thank you writers for finally giving us a shirtless Rafa scene. Yowza! I wouldn’t want to get out of bed if I were Vivi (other Vivi) either. :) Now, how about that shirtless Rodolfo scene?... I also really liked seeing how loving and supportive Dorotea and Eleuterio were with heartbroken Rodo. I also don’t believe he’ll be able to stick to his plan to avoid Nat and to tear her out of his heart.

Vivi, re.: who was listening in the bushes—it was NEVER revealed. Only in the daily advance that they published in Mexico they had said it was Dionisio. Some people thought back then it could have been Miriam because of her reactions before and after. However, I believe it was Dio based SOLELY on his actions on either tonight or Monday night episode.

Dan said that he didn't want to hurt Maid Mir, but didn't want to lose Camila. Big difference. I think that it is clearly being shown that his passion is with Camila. I think that if he stays with Mir, he will grow to resent her and will long for Camila.
I don't like that Dan lied to Camila to get her alone, but at least he's trying to fight for her. I think that Camila is leading Mariano on and is baiting Dan's jealousy. She may be doing it unconsciously or deliberately. Dan is indeed in a pickle, but that man bleeds for Camila. I think that her hurt and anger is making her run to Mariano, knowing that he loves her. I think that she is using Mariano's attention to soothe herself and to stick it to Dan. In addition, I think that deep down, she knows what she is doing.
Camila doesn't admit her feelings and doesn't always come clean about them. Dan on the other hand is being coarse, but I think that having Camila cut him off from everything, even conversation feels extreme. She has immediately replaced the friendship with Mariano. Dan is right in one sense, she is turning to Mariano is too many instances.
Carolina: You were the one who said that Camila needed more fight, right? (Or was it Myo?) Well I agree. She doesn't have to invite him to commit adultery (or bigamy?), but she can talk with him and maintain a connection. This running to "be there" for Mariano is escapism, but again, I think that she is psychologically taking advantage of Mariano's love and calling it "friendship." On top of that, she's using it ... wielding it like a sword to stab Dan. I'm sure that it will come out to Vivi later that she was doing this on purpose.
For his part, Mariano is taking advantage of every opportunity, but Camila lets him do it! He calls her late at night, he called her on her honeymoon! Dan's reaction to Mariano isn't strange. He sees another man actively pursuing his wife. He tells the guy to stay away from his wife. He has said this with the term "or I'll break your face." Situations like that do generate strong language ... sometimes involving kicking and a hindpart. True, the problem here is that Dan's footing is shaky because Maid Miriam, through no fault of her own, has turned his foundation into a mix of mud and quicksand.
Mariano is there with the water, making the dirt muddier when it suits him. He's not being evil, just deliberate. He told Teresa to go away ... he was decisive. He sees an opening with Camila and is bulldozing through it.
For the record, I don't blame Camila for seeking comfort in Mariano as her friend. I just think that she is taking it way too far by unnecessarily withholding friendship from her "husband."

Well, the TN Gods have answered my prayers and gave my favorite AB guy shirtless time. Rafa and Vivi...great lovin'. Love everything about him...including his fabulous hair and smile. Vivi really did look impactada. Love the actress.
Yes, UA, Idiocracy reigns in the house of Alberran, with a few exceptions. I was thinking Dumb and Dumber in the scene with Yago and Ileana.
As for the pantihose under Miriam's nightgown, I didn't notice, but maybe it's a body slimmer-type.
I'm putting this off because I actually have always like Dan, but he is getting on my last nerve. Miriam is suspicious so this is going to eat at her. As for Mariano, if I were in his shoes and I saw the woman I love (however unrequited it may be) being pushed into a corner and forced to be silent, I would do everything I could to win her love without disrespecting her wishes, which he has not done.

Netgirl- Great points. But I don't believe Camila is leadiing Mariano on on purpose or is trying to make Dan jealous. If she and Dan were on good terms right now, would she be acting the same way with Mariano and being just as supportive? Yes.
She is acting the same way with Mariano as she did before HE cut off their friendship. When she and Dan were together, she would go visit Mariano, go for walks with him, take his calls, even took his text message on her honeymoon! Vivi, All couples go through rough patches, true. But for a couple to go from what was supposed to be perfect bliss to the perfect disfunction that we saw last night in the space of a few days to me says that they were not really that strong of a team to start.
Dan needs to man up and start telling the truth to everybody. Instead, he is telling unnecessary lies. He is a habitual liar. Camila needs to realize that isn’t ever going to change. Tigers don’t change their stripes. Liars don’t stop lying. Any woman foolish enough to marry or even date a liar like that is signing up for a whole lot of heartache. I was really disgusted by his behavior last night. What a hypocrite, after what he has put Camila through in the last few days, to not be able to control his jealousy. He needs to grow up, too.

Cutting Dan off from her affection, communication, and intimacy is counterproductive and defeatist. To me, that is a bigger problem than her turning to Mariano. I think that she needs all the support that she can get right now and Mariano is wonderful in that department. The same is true for him; he needs her support right now in a big way, and she needs to pay back all the support he has given her. Plus, more importantly, it’s what friends do. I think whenever a man and a woman are friends, sexual and romantic longing usually exist for at least one of the parties, whether or not it is admitted to. At least Mariano admits it. I don’t fault either Cam or Mariano for leaning on each other. They actually have a pretty neat friendship.
Mariano is absolutely right that Camila needs to take control and be the one making the decision that would be best for her instead of leaving it up to Dan. What really irritates me about Cam’s behavior is that I think that she will end up with Dan. If she were acting this way because she was starting to have doubts about Dan and ended up choosing to be with Mariano, it would show her as strong and independent and I would like that a lot better. Instead, her passive, ‘nice’ behavior will be rewarded and instead of seeing a woman stand up for herself and fight for what she wants, we will be served the usual trite pap that women should be passive and ‘nice’ and think of others before themselves and stand back and let the man decide that he wants to be with her or not. Barf.

OT: I was watching the extras at the end of my recording of a TCM movie last night and they showed one of those MGM travelogues--done in the 30s and 40s. It was about a city/area in Oaxaca, Mexico. It started with a "T". It talked about pyramids, artifacts, Diego Rivera. It was interesting. But the narrarator was a bit condenscending. I don't think this was the same place that Vivi and Rafa went as that seems to be north of Mexico City and the area of the travelogue was in the isthmus.
Speaking of Rafa and Vivi. I think their happy happy joy joy moment is going to end just as Cam and Dan's did. I think Vivi is going to push for adopting Roman right away and Rafa is not going to want to. Also, I'm not so sure that look on Vivi's face was happy surprise. My first thought was that she's not ready. I hope that first impression is wrong

Urban- You make a good point about Dan helping with the Isa problem. I'm not sure he can split his energy and attention any further, but it's actually a good thing that Camila is very aware of what's going on with Cayetano and Isa and is working with Mariano to stay on top of that situation. It's not like Cami and Mariano were having lovey dovey talk at the hospital and at the restaurant. They were talking over some clear and present danger issues and problems-- where Pablo and Luz will live while Luz recuperates; how Mariano will take care of his mom and where; and how to deal with the Isa-Caye problem.
Well, I was trying to stay out of this, but I have to agree with cathyx. I think Dan was desperate to get Cami outta there without resorting to the "mi mujer" thing which wouldn't have ended well. It was a white lie and it worked. Sure it made her mad, but she's not really working with Dan here and she could be. She knows full well none of this is his fault. And if she really felt confident in her feelings for him, she would be doing what she could to help the guy out. I also think she knows exactly what she's doing hanging out with Mariano. Nanette, there are pyramids and ruins from various cultures all over Mexico. The major sites are spectacular but minor sites can be just as interesting and a lot more personal and less crowded.

Well, Cami IS Dan's wife for all intents and purposes. They got married—recently—in good faith—and their world has been tipped upside down. They both need time to process, but I think it's unfair to expect Dan not to be incredibly conflicted. He's feeling his way in the dark here. I don't think he should be having to tiptoe around Camila. Nobody is keeping secrets from her. She should feel strong in the knowledge that she could be helping the man she loves. I realize she feels hurt by these events, but this is not the time to be playing games.

Tuxla is the capitol city of Chiapas, just south of Oaxaca. It may have some Rivera murals, I don't know for sure, but no pyramids or ruins in the area that I know of. It isn't a tourist kind of place.

Back at the story, the most excitement was when Mr Mena yelled at Rafa to be careful not to drop the ring overboard on the balloon. We agreed that yesterday's epi was loads more fun with Dio playing the role of "menacing mobster" straight out of central casting.
I have to agree with all of the disappointed Dan Fans. What a twit to make up a story to break up dinner with Mariano and Camila. He can't have it both ways - ask Camila to trust him but not trust her! Dan needs to be reminded he cannot control everything, especially right now... let things turn out as they may because it can't get any worse than when Miriam was "dead", he was a fugitive and he hated Camila, can it?

Not that at this point it makes any difference, but wouldn't you think that when they applied for their marriage license that Dan and Camila would have been asked if they had ever been previously married and if both answered truthfully they would have been asked for death certificates of their former spouses (spice?)?

Carlos, I think in the US and other highly developed and literate countries you would need to have a death cert. In Mexico, in my experience, they often have an alternative way to do things to accommodate someone who doesn't have a particular piece of paper. So they might allow people to simply attest that to the best of their knowledge their previous spouse was dead in lieu of a death certificate.

Yes, unfortunately this is a plot device to stretch out another 20 episodes of this story. I'm never sure if that is a good idea, especially when it leads to a sudden unrealistic relationship dysfunction.

Anonymous not-a-dan-fan, it's obvious that you watch the tn regularly and very closely in order to form your opinions about Dan. It's also obvious that you put a lot of time and effort into writing them.
Unfortunately, I think that your posts are ignored by most commenters. It's not that you don't have a right to your opinion, it's that it's repititious and all negative. In other words, you read one, you've read them all. So no need to read through.

PS. And then there is that all-purpose way to solve problems in Mexico. Just slip the official a peso note of sufficient denomination and *presto* no death certificate needed.
I think Mariano texting Camila during her honeymoon is a bit much and Dan has every right to see him as a threat, because he is. Not even Vivi & Rafa texted/called Cam/Dan during their honeymoon. And it wasn't an emergency...yes, it was distressing that Pablo found out he is Don Dan's son not Cayetonto's but not urgent enough to call Pablo's cousin during her honeymoon and tell her about it. He could've told her that when she got back.

Carolina: you're absolutely right (imo) regarding the stress they're putting Miriam in by lying to her. And letting the story out a little at a time has got to be less stressful than leaving her in the dark. I do agree telling her the whole story at once would probably be a bad idea.

Nanette - Mr Mean makes some hilarious comments when he catches some of the storyline.... I find the comments of the "captive co-habitators funny". He had lots of comments when Dio smacked down Yago (like warning Yago to hide all the clippers on the farm!) and when Miriam looked out the window (uh oh danny - busted!)
On the other hand, I think I said this before, he thought the TN before this one AV, was tooo corny when he saw EY doing taikwondo in the traditional fighting suit. He remembered him when he was running a tequila farm.

Nanette, Hehehehe! Actually he is a pretty good guy. After all, he took me out for an early Valentine's Day dinner, told me go shopping and sat and waited for me and remembered flowers and chocolate on the actual day!!
Dear 5Ft and 5Ft.2--You make a good team. Sorry for the late post. I do love your recaps, even when the episode is a downer. This one is starting on an inevitable downward slope until episode #168 or whatever. If this were paper, there'd be tear stains on it.
Interesting comments, all of you. We all agree, for different reasons that Daniel is not behaving as he did before Fair MM appeared. Not in top form, he even looks a little more hunched over, but he's still proudly wearing his Charro suit. I guess Fair MM has stopped bugging him about it. I wonder if he will continue to wear it if (now after #128, it's when) he moves to town. Bummer. Dan took his cue from Camila about not wanting to see him because she's too apt to give him away. (Remember when he made a couple of booboos back in the day and called her mi amor and used tu infront of other people?)
Separating is not going to facilitate them talking about what needs to be discussed (agree they need to keep each other in the loop). I fear that not seeing Camila on a daily basis will have Dan moving closer to Fair MM and not seeing Dan on a daily basis will have Camila moving closer to Mariano.
As for Mariano--I don't think he's ever stepped over the line of appropriateness. He's told Camila several times he wants to be more than friends and thinks there is a possibility for them...however, he is intrusive (the phone calls, text messages, invitations to meals, given her a shoulder to cry on, etc.)...and a bit boring, but he's never forced his affections on her. I bow to you Mariano, but please, stay out of Camila's life until she and Dan have resolved their "little" problem.

Since I love Dan, too, I feel so sorry for him to be in this situation, NOT OF HIS MAKING. He's keeping his word, so far, of being faithful to Camila and waiting until Fair MM gets a clean bill of health before telling her he has another, newer wife.
