Por ella soy Eva #144 2/11/13: Fakers!

we get a review (I think it's a review) of Pluti demanding to know who she left him for. He proclaims that it's his right! "I own you! You're mine! You're mine!" What. A. Jerk. She reminds him how much he tried to steal from her. Mousse boy makes a very convenient entrance, allowing her to escape.

Who is this lady with the glowing red hair yelling at Eva? Is it the real Eva? I can't really tell without the birds in the hair.Mimi looks on grumpily.

The greasy boyfriend is wrapping his arm around Claudia. Seriously, can someone clarify - is she wearing a weird headband or weird hairstyle. She wants him to leave Jennifer. He continues to be a jerk. So what's new?

Juan thinks the real Eva is hiding something... It is certainly true that she's acting suspicious.

Pluti is grumpy.

Adri takes Eva's call from his golf cart! He is very sad about what happened to their relationship. Eva hangs up to receive a call from Helena (answering as Juan to get all mushy). But he didn't hang up on Adri, and he's trying to juggle both calls. Adri: I'm in the perfect place to meditate on my future (haha. he's sitting in a golf cart). He needs to be LOVED. He needs her to LOVE HIM. Juan lunges back to pick up the phone with Helena on it to reassure her that nothing funny is going on. Clearly something funny IS going on... Adri has also picked up on it. He frowns and hangs up on her.

Rebe flirts up Mendoza. Pluti Flips.

Ferni looks really pathetic in his sunglasses. He is being offered a ton of money by a mysterious man. I didn't catch what he has to do in return. Later at dinner, he proposes to the kids that his wife quit her job. What? He wants to start a business at home. Kevin is excited, but everyone else is like WHAT?

Helena tells Eva that she needs a big favor. . . it's been so hard to keep her thing with Juan secret, and she wants to start meeting him at Eva's place. Eva - impactada. on the one hand, how convenient! on the other hand, the whole split-personality thing seems to be wearing on him.

Onesimo calls Rebe to set up a meeting... she thinks he just wants another chance to examine her "escultural cuerpo." Then Pluti bursts in and starts smooching her. Rock bottom? Or does he just want something from her? Actually, she thought he was marvelous! The had great sex. I bet he wants something. He's "Lobito" now. Oh. He came to tell her she's getting fired tomorrow. Ouch. "No puede ser!"

It looks like Helena wants to tell Eva a secret. Some things just can't be shared between man and woman, she says. But we don't find out what the secret is. Actually maybe we do, but I was distracted by my dog. Helena is happy to have a confidante.

Dagoberto is chatting up the real Eva. He was clearly looking for dirt on Mimi and Eva, but he seems to be distracted by her assets. He takes a good look at her "escultural cuerpo" and has some grand words about how glorious she is. I totally lose track of what they're saying. "la witzi witzi arana?" What does the itsy bitsy spider have to do with GI and money laundring. Haha! It was her name back when she sang with the techno bands! Regardless of what they've decided, they're thick as thieves. They smooch a bit. Haha, she likes her "implantos de bubies." She tells him that her favorite time of crime is simple, like fake designer clothes and fragrances. They get a little sexy out in a construction site. Then she takes a phone call (she says "yes, I've got the money"), and when Dago turns away she pulls a gun from her purse, clubs him in the back of the head, and sends him plummeting several stories to the ground (where he lands in a conveniently soft truck bed filled with garbage bags.

*GASP* Ferni sends Marcela out of the room to get him some water, then he slips off the sunglasses so he can watch soccer! He's been faking!

Love your style! Feel like I've been on a roller coaster! Breathless! And worried!

Snappy and succinct, Ezra! Thanks a bunch.
Adri worries me--he doesn't want to hear anything about the business and Pluti cancelled the outside audit.
I knew Fernando was faking it! He's bound to get caught before he has money in his hand.
Happy to see Dogbert offed (or is he?), but Parakeet Eva is a dangerous woman.
Eugenia keeps trying, but Claudia is a hard-hearted little beyotch. On the other hand, she may be planning some nasty surprise for dirty Dani.

La Paloma

Sorry, Ez, I don't think we'll ever know the truth about Claudia's forehead-straps. They appear to be made of hair, but I think they're a separate accessory.

So, Fernando was faking his blindness. How did the doctor not figure that out? (I'm pretty sure they have ways of knowing these things!) He'll be found out soon enough - the next time a stray grapefruit seed or something flies toward his face and he flinches.

And Eva-1 - we knew she was trouble, but WOW! So is she also a fake? I know Dogbreath called her Yadhira a couple of times but she said it was her stage name... I'm so confused... oh well, whatever the case, we won't be hearing any more about it from Dogbreath!

Thanks Ezra. Wow! Real Eva is really evil. Luckily, this is a comedy, so Dogbert fell on a soft pile of garbage, where he belongs.

Dogbert was telling Eva that he knows all about her shady dealings up north, including all the various aliases she has up there-- that's where the spider nickname and the other names he was calling her came from. He also threatened that he would tell her old associates who were looking for her up north where she was if she didn't make him a partner on her plan to fleece Fake Eva/JC of the GI money. She agreed to make him a partner and to share her "other" delights too. Then she convinced him to come with her to pick up a "delivery" (I was thinking drugs), but it was really a trick to kill him so she doesn't have to share with him on the Fake Eva/GI scam.

Fernando...ugh! I have NO words.

You rocked this recap, Ezra!! What, Pluti cancelled the outside audit and Adri is ho-hum about it? Tell me I'm wrong. That should be setting off loud, illegal Mexican fireworks in Adris's head!!! Wake up Adri!!

I'm still watching right now in LA and am too excited to shut up. 10 minutes left.

Your title is perfect Ezra...fakers everywhere in this capitulo!! The kids are giving so much comfort to Ferni and he is faking his blindness! I'm adding weights to this jackass's anvil!!

So Helena wants a place for nookie!! Completely understandable considering what this woman has been through! Helena's whole life has been a novella!!

Good! Parakeet-Eva is obviously a faker with a criminal record by the way she's brandishing the gun. Big anvil for her. Whomever came up with the anvil metaphor, mi sombrero is off to you!! Gertie

If anyone still wants to to today's Jaime Camil chat, it's recorder at this link.

We got a little visit with Elena (15 months), and she has daddy's outgoing personality.
Question: will Eva be shown in other countries? He hopes so, because Latin America needs the message of the show.
He likes In-N-Out Burger.
They don't have a nanny.
He talked about working with Shirley Maclain & Christopher Plummer; I think he's a bit star struck. He said his achievements in Mexico mean nothing in the US market; he has to start from zero.
He said his Eva voice changed after the early part of the series.
Eva is the favorite character he's done, because she's so fun.
He likes doing comedy best, because people stop him on the street and tell him that amid their overwhelming troubles, watching his comedy gives them an hour of respite and laughs every day.
He said that if you hate Juan Peron, good! It means he portrayed the character well.
And he does all his own Twitter - he doesn't let anyone else touch his account.

Ezra, thank you for the great recap and loved the "fakers" title.

Paula H., thank you for the heads up about the Jaime Camil twitter chat earlier. I would have missed it. Fue muy lindo.

Wow! The only ally Rebecca might have left is Onésimo. None of her insults is ever enough to keep him away for long. Once she is gone from Grupo Imperio I wonder what kind of problems she can cause Pluterco from th outside or if she will just disappear.

The "real Eva" isn't just a nut but is a dangerous armed nut to boot. I wonder if Dogberto is dead since he landed on what looks like paper in a truck and not on the concrete floor.

¡Pobre de Ariano! He really is in a funk! I hope he just comes back quickly before Pluterco doesn't do worse than fire Rebecca. He was so menacing to Helena with his comments about her Playa Majahua project.

Well, that's it because I cannot stomach commenting about Fernando.

Jarifa

Ezra: Thanks for the fab, quick recap.

Pluti is in the soup that is for sure. His plan is going according to the way he thinks it should go, but he should remember that old adage about keeping your enemies close. He made a big mistake by telling Rebe is is gonna be fired. Can't wait for the fireworks from that.

So Renato had a hold of that cd. Wonder when he is gonna look at it.

So Fern isn't blind, who knew??? Julie you called it. I really thought he wasn't faking it especially after being examined by a doctor, but you were so right. I hate him a whole lot more now. Mabye Marcela will catch him now. I hope she does, before she gives up her job!

That fake Eva is very dangerous. So her name is Rivers, hmmm. And a stage name to boot. I too wonder if Doggie Man is dead. That looked like a soft landing. He may be her undoing. I am with Vivi, I thought she was talking about drugs too. Now I worry about Eva/JC and Mimi.

Poor Helena she can't get a break, first from Pluti and then the Playa project. I don't like the avances at all, about Helena being caught in Pluti's office. I wonder if she is on the chopping block next.

Thanks for the link on Jaime Camil's chat. If he is working with Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer...he is working with two award winning icons ...that is great. I recently saw Shirley M. On Downton Abbey.

Isn't it something that you are #1 in one country and unknown starting from scratch in another country...right across the border! But the U S is not just another country ...we are another culture! I admire him for knowing this and still being brave enough to move forward doing what he loves despite the humble pie! He is definitely more talented than many well paid...more popular American actors who have the inside tack! Gertie

Gertie, the S. MacLaine / C Plummer movie is a remake of Elsa & Fred, and Camil apparantly has a very SMALL part in it. But it's his first English work in the US, so that's significant.

I had to laugh - doesn't every construction site have huge dumpsters full of shredded paper? That must be from all the Xeroxing and typing that construction workers do!

I'm POSITIVE that Dogbert comes back. And when he does, we should rename him: Wile E. Coyote! With post-anvil wrinkled face and all!!

I hope Fernando is caught before Marcela quits her job. She's already quit once because of Fernando and I don't think Adriano would give her another chance. Something good has to happen for Marcela and something bad for Fernando.

As for Claudia, my nickname for her is Flower Child because the headband she wears makes me think of the hippies of the late '60s and early '70s.

Wonderful recap and title, Ezra.

I knew something was fishy about the "real" Eva but I couldn't put my finger on it. Great to see Rebeca at a lose for words for once but we all know about a woman scorched. Uh oh.
I agree with all- "Dog"berto is probably still alive. I was hoping that the fall would have been the end of him. I see that the best has been saved for last.
My mantra for Fernando- what an idiot!!
I see that the new novela begins on March 11th. Do we have a recapping schedule yet or is it too soon?? I would be interested in any day except for Monday and Wednesday.

Thanks Paula, for the Camil chat info.
It is sad to see such talented actors have to start from zero in the US. I have such respect for the novela actors/actresses. They are usually multilingual and many can sing and act. I look forward to seeing Camil on the US screen.

I saw Jaime Camil in an Engish-language movie called "I Love Miami," a sort of black comedy about Fidel Castro. I didn't care for the film, but he did a nice job with his part. Alicia Machado (Candelaria from FAMILIA) was also in it.

We had several power outages last night, but I think it came back on before Eva, so I'm going to go see if I can salvage anything from the DVR. But thanks to Ezra's recap, I feel as if I was there!

Morning all. Thanks Ezra for the crisp and funny recap.

I knew it! Fernando is faking. Did he forget he asked Marcela for a glass of water before he sent her out of the room. Oh! I hope she gets it & walks in on him! He so needs to get busted. Don't let her quit her job!

Count me in on the group that thinks Dagoberto is inured but not dead. If he was always dangerous to Mimi & JC/Eva he is really dangerous to the real Eva. He has all the goods on her illicit activities and knows who her enemies are. I do think she is the real Eva and that that is the only thing about her that is not fake. (including her bubies)

Oh Pluti! What a mistake you made in dumping Rebecca. What happened to keeping your enemies close? She & Onesimo are likely to join hands now. Onesimo blanched when he thought Rebecca was in danger.

No Santi & Lucia. I miss them -- especially those moments they each have when they catch themselves thinking about the other.

I just had my pancakes with some whipped cream on top to celebrate Mardi Gras. Eat, drink and be merry everyone!

Good catch, Blue Lass, "I Love Miami" was partly in English. I tend to forget the work before Fea, other than "7 Dias."

Thanks for those details, Paula. Eva's voice changed? Really? I never even noticed. However, I do notice, watching reruns, that some cartoon characters' voices are different (even with the same actor) in the earlier seasons of a show than later on, so I guess it's a common phenomenon for people doing voices other than their own.

Jarifa, I don't think Rebeca will disappear. She should have moved on from Plutarco a long time ago. The fact that she hasn't probably means that she can't. She's like a dog with a bone. But maybe getting fired will at least snap her out of it and get her to change tactics.

Madelaine - I was NOT right about Fernando? Ithabill called it in his recap the night of Ferni's accident. Though there was plenty of reason to believe he was faking, I was leaning more towards thinking he was really blind. I figured the reason he wasn't more upset was because what does he really lose by being blind? What does he need his eyes for? You don't need eyes to complain all day long.

The dumpster was funny... not only because it was full of fluffy paper, but because it was all so clean! Maybe Dogbreath will survive after all. But then he'll need someone like Mimi to trust and believe him. That'll be a tough sell.

For the next TN, if Tuesdays (or Mondays) are open, I'd really like to switch. Fridays used to be great, but nowadays I seem to run out of steam halfway through the week.

Thanks Ezra for the recap.

Fernando belongs in the dumpster with Dagoberto. He is so self-centered and estupido that he is bound to make a mistake and get caught by Marcela or someone else. And then he'll still have to pay the lawyer's fees. What a moron! He may end up losing everything.

I doubt Dagoberto is off-o!n Otherwise the caracter would have fallen to his death, not in a bin, but on the hard concrete. He is being spared... because he knows so much about the Red Widow (a new type of deadly spider). Eva is a creeper but she is funny and diabolical which makes for an interesting twist. (I go from hating her to loving her.)

Thanks for the interview. I will watch it this afternoon!

Rebe is getting what she deserves. She laughed when poor Tonita que esta rodeando en los nubes de algodon died when she found her and Pluti desnudos en la cama. I feel sorry for her, but she got it coming. Perhaps her new situation will make her think about how awful she's been to others. The one I'm worried about is Helena... sounds like Pluti the Demented is going for revenge...

Julie, about Eva's voice change. Camil said he was still working on defining the character. She was more subdued early on, until he found his groove for the character. I've seen Camil do that in other TN's - the first few weeks, he hasn't yet established the personality for the character.

Here is my theory on Fernando. I think in the hospital, he woke up blind. Remember how much he freaked out? I think that was real. And the doctor said that this can happen immendiately after head trauma, but sight usually returns soon, in those cases. I think he woke up blind and freaked, but then discovered all the attention and sympathy he got, so he decided to milk it. Soon after, his sight returned (and they cut those scenes), but he kept up the charade. Remember when he started wearing the dark glasses? I suspect that was part of his plan to avoid discovery.

Julie: Apologies, so sorry, I thought it was you that called Fern being such a fake. I also emailed Melinama and told her I would continue with Fridays after Por Ella but will share, so I do a recap every other Friday.

Bill: Great call on Fern. I can't wait for the fork or the cast iron skillet for him : )

Ooo I will share with you, Madeleine -- unless someone else chimes in. (I know the current recappers get first dibs.) I don't have a morning off this semester, so I can only do Friday, but every other week would be perfect.

Whoops! Sorry, Madelaine -- misspelled your name.

Blue: That would be great, but only if Julie gets another day that she wants instead of Friday. We have been a team now for almost a year : )

Awww...and here it is almost Valentine's Day. ;}

Keep me posted. I know Julie wants to move earlier in the week, but of course that would bump someone else -- and you all have been doing such a great job!

Paula, your idea makes sense. Fern did seem quite upset at first, so maybe his initial terror was for real.

Blue and Mads - Go ahead and split the Fridays! I was willing to keep my half of the Fridays if no one else wanted them (and if I couldn't get the Monday or Tuesday), but I'm quite happy to give Fridays a good home.

Wheeeee!

Blue: Can't wait. I have missed your recaps : )

I haven't done full-length recaps on a comedy before -- just the bulleted shorties over on Amorcito. I'll probably miss a good bit of the slang, but I'm sure others will pitch in. We all have our specialties.

And I'm soooo pleased to now be able to say, "implantes de bubis."

Ohh, and I have a semi-explanation for the frontal breads Claudia sports with pride...

My daughter came to visit the other day and was wearing somethng similar in her hair.. It's a two-strand hairband which she uses to helod her hair when she does yoga. I just about jump on her head to examine the contraption...!

Blue: El Tal was a running comedy, I don't care what anyone else says : )

Thank you, Ezra. That was fun. Is it my imagination, or as things get more dangerous are they also getting more fun? I have to confess this... I love Real Eva. (OK, not as much as Our Eva) I can't help myself. The gum chewing, loud singing, pushy attitude, brothel spawning, boobie implanting, birds in the hair, all of it. She's nacarrific!

Annik, thanks for the info on the hair adornment. What a wonderful addition to a finale costume!!!

Julie, you are probably right about Rebeca. There has been too much time and plot invested in her.
I just wonder if/how she and Onésimo will team up against Pluterco.

Jarifa

Ithabill--Nacarrific??? What a great new word!!

Jarifa

Good point, Mads. Nothing will ever be as funny -- intentionally or unintentionally -- as El Tal.

Bill, I especially love our two Evas together. It's hilarious that every time Original Eva starts to sing one of her horrible songs, JC/Eva just lights up and starts dancing -- then she catches herself.

I agree, Blue Lass, the two Evas are very funny together.

I'm so glad you are on the team. I love your recaps.

I'm also glad that for once there is a smooth transition and that the new novela in this time slot is another comedy and one I want to watch. I really prefer the lighter ones. The characters are such a hoot.
