Amor Bravío #124 (Uni 119) Mon 2/11/13

Capitulo #124:   La Familia es Todo... te guste o no te guste

Lo del pasado

Luzma explains the previous day's slip to Camila.  Iago wants to accompany his father on his vacation, which Cayetano does not permit.  Rocio has the bitchy encounter with Hissadora in the hotel bar.  Natalia continues in her delusion about Iago.  Osvaldo Becerra barges into the dining room at La Buenaventura and Cayetano finds out why Iago wanted to go on the vacation with him.

Lo de nuevo

La Buenaventura, Dining Room:    Iago denies paternity and is told not to show disrespect to Licenciado Becerra. Becerra calls Iago a coward, orders him to stay away from Natalia, and wishes Cayetano a good day before he exits. Bratgirl sits there listening intently at that which es nada de su asunto. Mariano gives Iago the “I told you so” and agrees with Osvaldo. Iago again denies paternity. Cayetano asks him if he is sure of this and he goes on that he wasn't the only guy to boink her. Mariano is not believing this, so Bratgirl backs Iago [We wonder why], saying that while Natalia might have the face of a saint she is a whore [zorra]. Mariano doesn't fall for this either and also knows his brother's unsavory reputation with women. Cayetano seems to find his cojones for this situation, telling Iago that he will not allow a grandchild of his to be born unrecognized. There will be a DNA test and if Iago is the father of the child he will do the right thing whether he likes it or not. Iago tries to say he can't be forced; this isn't a past century when Cayetano would have that authority over him. Cayetano tells him that if he wishes to continue receiving the benefits of being an Albarrán, he will conduct himself as one and not as a patán who leaves his DNA all over the place irresponsibly. Mariano backs Natalia, saying he is sure she isn't lying and calls Iago on his cowardice because he tried to get out of town with dad to avoid facing the music. Iago tries to deny it, but Cayetano is on a roll. He tells him he has to resolve this situation before he gets back from his vacation.

Metepec, Hotel Bar:   Hissadora shows off her rock to Rocio, who loses her own dignity telling her she is a fortune hunter, social climber, without categoria, and who not only doesn't love Cayetano but is marrying him for his money. Hissadora looks down her nose at her going on how Cayetano is after her because she is mucho mas beautiful, intelligent, and younger than she is. “He's tired of you and wants me.” She is proving Rocio's words here [not that Rocio is that much better]. Rocio says something about Cayetano not being such a fool; perhaps she could be the mistress but never the wife. “Wanna bet?” says Black Widow Lazcano who then mocks with “Oh, but I forgot; you're no longer a millionairess and have nothing to bet with. Oh, what a shame!” [Not, she clearly thinks]. “You don't know how much I detest you!” says Señora Snob. “On the contrary, you don't know how grateful I am,” says Hissadora. “Thanks to what you've done it was that much easier to get into Cayetano's life. And when the divorce is final I will be his wife, whether you like it or not.  Well, I have no time because I'm meeting my future huband.  Adios!” She flashes the rock and gloats as she exits on the musical flourish. Bitch.

La Buenaventura, Dining Room:    Bratgirl excuses herself from the table wishing them a good meal [as though that were even possible now]. Cayetano asks Mariano to handle this situation with Iago and he agrees to; he and his father are on the same page. Cayetano excuses himself and exits as little Ana takes all this in. She moves into Bratgirl's seat and commiserates with her dad, who tells her he will have to speak with Camila about this because she cares about Natalia. He'll have someone take her over to see Pablo at his new home.

Study:    Bratgirl calls Iago an imbecile for getting involved with Natalia, getting on his case for not using protection. She knows that the baby is his but backed him anyway in front of his father and big brother. He doesn't want to talk about it but she tells him he's a fool and he will lose everything if he isn't careful. He orders her out. Realizing any further argument is useless, she exits and he closes the door behind her, angry with himself.

Metepec, Hospital, Waiting Room:    Miriam sits between Daniel and Abe, talking about how she doesn't like this one bit after so much time in a hospital. She goes on to Daniel about how boring it must have been for him to sit there at her side all that time. Abe watches Daniel's face through this. She turns to Abe and includes him in that, knowing (or believing) that he spent many hours there as well. The doctor and nurse enter to escort Miriam to the examining room. Daniel tells her not to worry; she is glad he is there for her. He does the sign of the cross on her and she is confused. He is stuck for words and she says “No; it's beautiful. It's part of who you are.” The nurse prompts her, Abe asks the doctor if it will be many hours until the tests are completed, and the doctor tells him it will. He can go down to the cafeteria if he pleases if he wants to wait. Just leave a phone number if they have to leave. Daniel tells him not to worry; he will leave his number at the reception desk if necessary. Miriam kisses Daniel and exits with the doctor and nurse.

Abe tells Daniel that all went well with Comandante Juarez, who asked him for the relevant documents including the forged death certificate. They discuss the cell phone records that would disclose the communication between El Diablo and Julian Hernandez. They are sure they can prove that El Diablo and Hissadora are the ones who arranged the murder attempt. Daniel says he thought Abe trusted El Diablo, but Abe denies it; he's pretending to in order to gain his confidence, but is certain that he is a dangerous man. He lured him to Mexico by deception.

La Malquerida, Dining Room:  Caridad comes down with the baby to find Camila alone, saying the baby was a little fussy so she was preparing her bottle. Camila asks her to leave the baby with her. To the sound of their sad love song in a female voice [Miriam of the thousand days?] Camila holds the baby and talks to her, commenting on how much she looks like her father, how she doesn't want to hurt her [Viewers and the flies on the wall are getting apprehensive], finally kissing her head long enough for all to know that she is wishing she were the mother of this child. Caridad returns with the bottle, takes the baby, and Camila exits a little too quickly. Caridad is confused.

Hospital:   Miriam is getting a battery of tests, including MRIs and blood tests. Her and Daniel's original song plays through this.

Metepec, Hospital, Waiting Room:    Dan and Abe talk about Abe's phone call with El Diablo, the one Abe wasn't supposed to reveal. El Diablo told Abe that Daniel was at La Malquerida but didn't tell Abe that Daniel and Camila had gotten married even after Abe told him that Miriam was alive. Hence, he was surprised when he found out. Had El Diablo revealed this he would not have brought Miriam along. [??? Something about how this affects Miriam] He doesn't trust him one bit since finding out that the man who attacked Miriam was one of his people. Daniel thanks him for helping unmask the devil. Abe had realized that there was a mastermind at work and he wants to get him. He owes it to both Daniel and to Miriam.

La Malquerida, Courtyard:    Camila – depressed after her encounter with baby Ágatha – walks past the fountain and stops when she hears Mariano calling her. She tells him she was just handling the baby and what that made her feel… he doesn't wait for the details, stating that it must be difficult to have Daniel and his wife in the same house. They briefly discuss Ana's unwitting disruption of the cover-up and Mariano promises that despite Ana's youth she understands and will not cause any more problems. He then cuts to the chase about Iago and Natalia and Iago's denial of responsibility. “Don't tell me that,” she says. He explains that he believes Natalia and that if the baby is Iago's he will see to it that Iago does the right thing. Camila points out that a shotgun marriage will not work out; he agrees. He tells her that the baby deserves to be recognized and that his father thinks the same. Camila tells him that Natalia will be happy that his family is behind her.

Church Grounds:    Padre Anselmo and Viviana talk about the orphans and how well they are doing with her assistance in the reading program. Roman arrives to tell her that the kids are waiting and she opens the book to read to them. Tolentino asks Irene if she would like to go out for ice cream with him [Methinks he looks like a very young Eduardo Yañez in these shots]. Montage of shots of the kids' faces as Viviana and Rafa read to them, with an adoring expression on Roman's face.

Phone Call (Cayetano in his study / Rocio in the hotel lobby):  Rocio is on her cell talking to the brick wall that is Cayetano about Hissadora and her greed. He is not listening, as usual. She talks about keeping the family together and he tells her that for all that Pablo is like him he's not his son and that althought Iago is he is more like her. At her question as to what he means by that he tells her that Iago knocked up Natalia. “If the baby is his we will have to recognize it, of course. Talk to him.” But she reminds him that Iago won't see or talk to her. Of course they can't let him abandon his own blood. “Of course not. But this is all your fault,” he tells her. “You didn't know how this would affect your sons. How I regret having loved you so much.” He ends the call. She drops the phone, clutches her head, and collapses.

La Malquerida, Porch outside kitchen:   Rodolfo and Eleuterio are talking when Bratgirl shows up with her pseudo cleavage and real sour puss. He is not pleased to see her, thinking that she is chasing him again. However, she accuses him to his face of knocking up Natalia in order to get even with Iago. She starts name-calling. He swears he never had relations with Natalia, but she persists. She is a Hissadora in the making. Eleuterio eavesdrops from behind the pillar. When her insults don't rile Rodolfo she begins insulting Natalia but Rodolfo doesn't take the bait. She finally tells him he is worthless and stalks off. Rodolfo waits a few seconds before cursing Iago and Eleuterio comments on how being a single mother can't be easy.

La Malquerida, Courtyard:    Camila and Mariano agree that the next step is to meet with Natalia and Amanda when Mariano's cell phone rings. It's the hospital in Metepec. Camila offers to drive him there.

Pablo's Townhouse:   Refugio is dusting as Pablo serves Luzma tea. Ana arrives and tells them that her dad has gone to see Camila regarding the situation with Iago and Natalia. Iago has denied that Natalia's baby will be “mi primito”. The outraged Pablo exits, calling his brother an imbecile. Luzma and Refugio call after him but he is already halfway to his car.

No-tell Motel:    El Diablo got there first; she enters talking about Cayetano sending his chauffeur and how that frosted Rocio's cookies. Also about him buying her an expensive new car. He is amused, saying she's a fast worker. He asks why this particular place and she says it has a good restaurant. He brings up the issue of discretion; that she can't give Cayetonto any reason to doubt her loyalty. She tells him not to call her when she's traveling, but to send a text instead. He agrees. Suspense music begins. She asks about the virus and he tells her that he will administer it when Daniel and his wife leave La Malquerida. He starts embracing Hissadora from behind as he explains that Augustina is in charge of making that happen. The bulls will be infected when Camila is alone. She asks if he has bought some time from Estevez [methinks he said they had about a month but he knows he can meet the deadline; please correct me if I am wrong]. Hissadora is satisfied with his answer. She turns around to face him as the music gets darker. He is sure that this plan can't fail. “Camila won't be able to sustain the ranch without the bulls, she won't be able to pay loans or bills. La Malquerida will cease to be a breeding ranch of fighting bulls and will be a desarroyo touristico with you and me as the major shareholders.” She grins as they prepare to congress.

With our usual good taste and discretion we will depart from this questionably erotic event.

Upper West Side of Manhattan Dante's Hotel Room:    Dante and Teresa talk about her plan. Dante tells her he will not betray a friend. She points out that he will be doing Daniel a favor. Daniel loves Camila and who would be better for Miriam than himself? Dante doesn't think this will work. She says Daniel would feel better if it were he who would be taking care of Miriam.  He asks her interest in this. She points out that if he were to get Miriam, Daniel will be with Camila that leaves Mariano free for her to pursue. [Is this a novela or a Seinfeld episode?]

Metepec, Hospital Desk:   Mariano and Camila arrive; he talks to the nurse who leaves to get the doctor and/or paperwork. Camila asks Mariano if he shouldn't be calling his father, but he wants to talk to the doctor first. She tries to get him to calm down. The doctor arrives to tell him that his mother has suffered a stroke. They will know more after they have fully examined her. Mariano is impactado.

Pablo's Townhouse:   Ana goes to the kitchen with Refugio, leaving Luzma alone on the living room couch. She calls Natalia and they talk about Iago. Natalia is still in denial. Luzma tells her that Iago's brothers are very angry with him over this. She tells her she can count on her and Pablo and that they're in Camila's townhouse.

Metepec, Hospital Waiting Room:  Mariano puts away his cell phone, not having reached his father, and commenting on how everything happening with his family is now having serious consequences. He's just found out  that his mother was talking on the phone and was very agitated when the attack occurred. Camila tells him not to lose faith. People are strong and can get past these things. However, Mariano isn't so sure his mother can. Camila embraces him to comfort him and – predictably – Daniel enters telling him to “Let go of my wife or I will break your face.” Camila looks guardedly shocked and possibly offended, Daniel shocked at his own words, Mariano momentarily stricken, and Abe has a flat affect... for the moment. Musical flourish.

La Buenaventura; Parlour:   Iago paces around and Pablo charges in and calls him on the carpet for his disrespectful treatment of Natalia. Minor key music underscores this brotherly exchange.

Pablo:   You are a wretch for not accepting that Natalia's baby is yours.
Iago:  Don't meddle in this.
Pablo:    Meddle? A woman like her doesn't invent this.
Iago:    You are a sentimental idiot.
Pablo:    You are worse than I thought. If your own child is of no importance to you, my nephew is important to me. I swear to you, Iago, someday you'll pay for this.

Pablo exits, leaving Iago to stew.

Metepec, Hospital Waiting Room:   Daniel tells Mariano off for embracing “mi mujer” in public. Camila doesn't want this scene to take place, and Abe listens with an incredulous expression that Daniel can't see. Daniel's jealousy is showing and Camila reminds him that they had agreed to trust each other. She had a reason to be there. Daniel calms down and apologises. Abe listens quietly, his expression of incredulity mixed with a little suspicion. Daniel apologises again a little too explicitly and Camila tells him – with an effort at being cold – that they are there because Mariano's mother has just suffered a stroke.

Miriam's Hospital Room:   The doctor enters, saying they have all test results except two. [Acme prepares another anvil for shipment to Metepec.] He considers her recovery to be extraordinary in view of the circumstances. So I can soon go home, have a normal life, including a love life? she enquires.  The doctor thinks so. Miriam is ecstatic.

Metepec, Hospital Waiting Room:   Daniel apologises again, saying he's sorry to hear about Rocio. Mariano thanks him and is saved by the ringing cell phone. He excuses himself to talk to his father. Cayetano – who is packing a suitcase as he talks – apologises for missing his last three calls. Mariano explains that his mother collapsed after talking on the phone in the hotel bar. Cayetano says they had an argument over the phone a few hours ago. Mariano tells him the bad news and he appears impactado. Meanwhile Daniel can't stop telling Camila he doesn't like seeing her with Mariano. What he can't handle is that Mariano is in love with her. She shouldn't need Mariano when she has him. She reminds him that this isn't easy for her either, having him, Miriam, and the baby under the same roof. He asks why she doesn't unload instead to Rafa or Viviana. Camila is in no mood for this. Daniel admits he is afraid of losing her because Mariano might offer her what he can't give at the moment. Camila admits her own fear, but she can't take this. Mariano returns, saying that his father seemed affected by the news and hopefully his mother will recover and things can get back to normal. [We regret to tell you this again, Mariano, but nothing will ever be normal again in your family.]

La Buenaventura; Study:    Cayetano looks around on the desk for something, finally giving up and picking up the phone.

No-tell Motel:   The bedcovers are moving as we see the Black Widow's clothes all over the floor; we thank the cameraman for his discretion. It seems that the earth is moving just as Hissadora's cell phone rings. Obviously she disengages before answering.

Isadora (breathless):    Bueno?
Cayetano:    Isadora?
Isadora (actually whispering to Dionicio):    Cayetano.
Cayetano:    Are you alright? You sound agitated.
Isadora:    No, I'm alright. I just ran up the stairs. What's up?
Cayetano:    It's that I don't know when I will arrive in Mexico City. I'd better say I don't think I'll make it.
Isadora:    Why?
Cayetano:    Rocio has had a stroke and she's in the hospital.
Isadora:    You don't say!
Cayetano:    I just told Mariano I will go to see her. In the end, she is the mother of my children.
Isadora:    Yes, yes, of course. I understand very well. I just saw her at the hotel; she was perfectly alright.
Cayetano:    Yes; I know you two met at the hotel. I spoke to her right after and the courage you showed her appears to have provoked this.
Isadora (rolling her eyes so Dionicio can see): Ay, Cayetano, you don't know how sorry I am.

Cayetano:    I know; don't hurry. Sooner or later we'll keep that date.
Isadora:    Ay, Cayetano, what can I say? Please, [???] Don't worry. I'll finish eating here in Toluca and go to Mexico City and wait for you. Good luck and I love you.
Cayetano:    I, too. We'll talk later. (ends the call)
Isadora (ending call and almost slamming down the phone on the mattress):    Damn! Rocio just had a stroke.
Dionicio:    This is very bad news. This woman's illness could postpone or cancel your marriage to Cayetano Albarrán
Isadora:    No. I will not permit that to happen.
Dionicio:    Therefore, press him to comply. Have him cede control of his assets if only for a few months. We then must seize the moment and do this before he can recover his properties.
Isadora:    Yes; you're right. (annoyed) I will have to go on flattering him. (sticks out tongue in disgust)
Dionicio:    Continue poisoning his soul toward his wife. Administer the drops and little by little he will lose his mental faculties.
Isadora:    Yes, you're right. And if I return to Metepec to show solidarity will it impress him?
Dionicio:    Later. (laughs as he grabs her and rolls on top of her)

We are immensely grateful here that Hissadora chose to pull up the sheet.

Hostal de Amanda:   Amanda tells Natalia to take her vitamins and her folic acid and lectures her ad nauseum on how a baby is a blessing Natalia is worried because she is out of work. The phone rings and she answers. “Where?” she asks, then a second later puts down the phone saying it's Iago. He's changed his mind and wants to see her. He's outside. Amanda wonders why he isn't coming inside, but Natalia doesn't answer. She goes outside, with Amanda shaking her head in disbelief.

Outside, Iago is pacing. When Natalia rushes out to embrace him he stops her from doing so and demands to know why she sent Lic. Becerra to his house. She tells him she didn't [We know she didn't even know] and he continues denying the baby is his. Just as he says he never wants to see her again Rodolfo approaches from behind with daggers in his eyes. Iago accuses him of knocking Natalia up, calling her a zorra. For which Rodolfo gets him with a right hook, knocking him down. He gets up to attack but before he can do anything Natalia gets between them to stop the fight. Iago delivers the coup de grace but at Natalia, saying in front of Rodolfo that he never wants to see her again. She starts to cry and turns to Rodolfo, who embraces her.

Hospital Corridor:   Abe confronts Daniel about his behavior with Camila. He seems to realize that Daniel loves her. He had hoped that once Daniel spent more time with Miriam he would know that Camila doesn't belong in his heart. Daniel tells him that it would be great if things were that simple, but they're not. Abe is not willing to go back to Chile until this is resolved. Daniel reminds him he has a mess to clean up there. He agrees, but he will not leave his sister knowing that her heart could be broken any minute. That if Daniel chooses Camila Miriam's heart will be broken forever and he will lose his daughter. “Give my sister her proper place in your life.  She's like this because of the inheritance.  That's causing her pain and agony.”

Avances

The scene of the congress of El Diablo and the Black Widow was slightly censored to remove some heavy breathing before she answered her cell phone.

I mean, really!

Great recap Urban. Muchas gracias.

Whew! What an episode. So it's Rocio who collapses from bad news, not Miriam. Bad times ahead for the Alberrans.

A correction-- saying "cuidarse" is the same as saying using protection-- Iliana was scolding Yago for having sex with Natalia without using protection. Clearly she understands how not to get pregnant (she should have a chat with Nat). I'm guessing she's on the pill.

I enjoyed Cami telling Dan and Mariano to chill out when they started butting heads like two bulls fighting over la hembra. I was glad to see Dan have to apologize for his caveman behavior, especially when, as she said, Cami has WAY more reason to be feeling jealousy at the moment. I did appreciate Dan verbalizing why he was feeling so jealous, but tough dude. Suck it up.

Funny, I think the baby looks more like Camila than she does Dan or Miriam.

It took one episode for everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, to learn that Nat is pregnant and Yago is denying paternity. Will being rejected by him brutally, twice in two days, finally make Nat accept reality?

I'm going to have to watch that final scene with Abe and Dan again, because I don't recall Abe telling Dan he should give Miriam a chance to decide to break up with him. It seems he wasn't giving Dan an out-- give my sister her proper place as your wife and mother of your child since she nearly died because of you and she loves you, and forget Camila.

I can’t believe we broke 200 comments on this weekend’s recap! That’s more than I’ve seen on a finale recap. Didn’t know you can’t view more than 199 comments on one page. Obviously the writers have done a good job to generate so much debate.

Urban love your prompt recap and appreciate the details.

As Vivi mentioned; Abe pretty much told Dan to get over Cam and treat his sister properly as his wife and the mother of his child and laid on pretty thick the guilt trip on Dan by reminding him that Miriam nearly died because of him and to find out he no longer loves her will destroy her. My poor Dan--what to do?

Miriam is only concerned about having sex with Dan--at least she's got her priorities straight.

Poor Rodo, you deserve a better woman with dignity ...

Amanda doesn't deserve such airhead of a daughter -- I wanted to lock up Nat in the broom closet until she's seen the light.

Thank goodness the cut out the mating ritual of Dio & Isa--viewerville might collectively suffer from Rocio's illness.

I know Rocio is a bitch; I kinda sorta felt sorry for her when Cayetonto told her he regretted loving her--that was a low blow.

Mariano had no business running over LMQ to tell Cam about the current events; the news has no impact on Cam whatsoever; he was just being a metiche and wanted Cam to know what a upstanding guy he is blah blah blah ... the correct thing for him to do was to either call Nat himself or drive over to the hotel and talk to her and her mom ...

Myo-

Thanks so much UA for your recap. I know I shouldn't be surprise by random censorship but I will never understand the rhythm or reason to what is indecent.

ITA w/Vivi that it was quite an episode. Unfortunately for me the actress playing Rocio's stroke was a bit over the top and left me LOLing.

Though I don't condone insane TN jealousy, Mariano is dubious. For me its that bad TN plot device of having the male or female protagonist turn to the one person the love of his/her life cannot stand.

I'm not sure about about Nat denial. If she popped up next episode stilling believing in Iago, I would be saddened but not surprise. Glad that the rational thinking adults won't try to force Iago to marry Nat but I'm thinking Dio may have other plans.

Since the doc gave Miriam the OK, why do I think (its a guess) one of the other two tesst may be really serious? Instead of sex, Miriam may be getting a reality anvil.

Thanks, UA, for another great recap. I love it that you're able to post them so quickly. I loved some of your remarks, such as "[Is this a novela or a Seinfeld episode?]" and "Bratgirl shows up with her pseudo cleavage and real sour puss." Also your Miss Manners-like observations.

I loved it when an out-of-breath Hissadora told Cayetonto "I just ran up the stairs." I think the telenovela writers have given us a new euphemism.

I was really pleased when Camila points out to Mariano that a shotgun marriage isn't a good idea to resolve Natalia's pregnancy, and he agrees.

I was somewhat confused by Dio's advice to Hissadora that she should "Have [Cayetano] cede control of his assets if only for a few months." Didn't Cayetonto already arrange to do exactly that?

One more question: in the avances, what did the doctor tell Luzma about her baby's heart?

The only reason Dan and Mariano can't stand each other is because they're in love with the same woman. Otherwise, they'd probably be buds. I still don't think that Camila will EVER see Mariano as a romantic option or even pretend that he is, so Dan's jealousy is unnecessary and unfounded.

Juanita- In the preview the doctor told Luzma that her baby's heart had stopped beating- dejar de latir. :(

Thanks UA! Loved the aside: [Is this a novela or a Seinfeld episode?]

Myo - yeah, I also had a WTQ moment when I read that Mariano was going over to the MQ to talk about Nat with Camila. Um, why don't you go talk to the people that are actually involved?

Cayetano. Way to be a great dad: hand off crazy-huge family situations to your son to "handle it" when it's about your other son being a dad, all while ur off marrying someone everyone in your family and beyond has warned u against. You get a #1 dad hat...or a beanie.

Vivi-I agree. Reading about the Dan/Mariano hospital confrontation, I'm surprised Cami didn't give it to him more. I can't believe he would seriously go off on Mariano in a hospital about that crap. I get the jealousy, but u have the whole ranch tiptoeing around ur wife and ur exploding on Cam's friends in the middle of hospitals? Find a gym and a punching bag to work out those glorious, beautiful biceps...I mean, frustrations. (Sorry, mind drifted there).

Not expecting the Rocio stroke (like Vivi, I kept thinking that was going to be a Mir thing). If the slots slide into place, maybe Mir and Rocio will commiserate over other women "taking" their husbands or she and Mariano wil commiserate over losing spouses/loves. Plus, Ana's gonna be all over that baby (until it poops). Meanwhile Dante and Teresa's scheming just looks like a lot of time for them to spend together...

PS: Also, what's Illy game plan with this? I don't get it. Did seeing it make it clearer?

HellaShelle- Hope you get to see the episode. Cam really did tell Dan off in a very calm controlled way.

Mariano said it would be easier for Nat and Amanda to speak with a woman about this issue, and that was his excuse for bringing Cami into the mix to serve as a female go-between for him and his dad with Nat and her mom. Yes, he is looking for any excuse to see Cam but it made a certain amount of sense.

UA--you are a trooper. Te doy las gracias and will mention in sotto voce that we'll be seeing Parsifal at the Met in March.

I'm not liking where this tn is going....I like Camila happy and jumping into Dan's arms and wrapping her legs around him, kissing him on the forehead and fiddling with his hair. I don't like her upset and sad and separated from him. The scene with Baby Agatha tore me up.

In a way I'm glad Mariano is there for her, he does understand her and he is an understanding person. Dan's going to be between a rock and a hard place for quite awhile, but getting p.o'd at Mariano in a public place is a no-no. It's probably a good indication that his nerves are frayed. He has to juggle Miriam/baby, Camila, Dio/Isa, Abe, Gussie and Natalia and keep them all in the air and twirling without hitting each other.

BTW, UA-- in your dialog between Dionicio and Isa you said: >>Therefore, press him to comply. Have him cede control of his assets if only for a few months.>>

I'm pretty sure Cayetano already turned over control of his assets to Isa for 6 months (little does he know he probably won't get to see them come back to him, or Black Widow Hissavibora is not her name).

Dio was worried that Rocio's stroke could put off the wedding for so long that they might run out of time and she'd have to tear up the agreement. He wants Isa to pressure him not to delay the wedding. And this was to be done by continuing to poison his soul against Rocio. There's obvio no one better up to the job than Isa!!

Best quotes from the recap for me were:
>>Bratgirl excuses herself from the table wishing them a good meal [as though that were even possible now].
>>Rocio is on her cell talking to the brick wall that is Cayetano about Hissadora and her greed.
>>Bratgirl shows up with her pseudo cleavage and real sour puss.
>>She points out that if he were to get Miriam, Daniel will be with Camila that leaves Mariano free for her to pursue. [Is this a novela or a Seinfeld episode?].

Carolina, you left one last great inciteful comment on our marathon of posts for Friday's episode. Maybe we can persuade you to copy it here, or I suggest we stop by to read it there...we actually have to go to the bottom and click on >>newest!!

...u tell him, cami! just well said - everything! gosh, he just makes me so mad!!! yeah, it's me, not-a-dan-fan.

- ugh, the way he calls her, "mi mujer" -_- like he owns her. oh, & such audacity to call her that when his wife is in another room getting her health checked by the doctors, but clearly, he could care less, huh? it's like he wants to get rid of her so badly by making sure she's in good condition to be told some bad news & then get her out of his way just to get what he wants. and in the other episode when he tells cami that the thing he misses most is their "intimacy"...i was like, blah! i could go on & on, but i think that's enough for today. :)

Tolentino and Irene? How perfect. This makes me happy.

I think Caridad might figure out what is going on even faster than Miriam.

“Is this a novela or a Seinfeld episode?” Ha! I’m starting to wish it was a Seinfeld episode. At least it’d be funnier and over quicker.

“We regret to tell you this again, Mariano, but nothing will ever be normal again in your family.” Hmm. It seems that Mariano has a touch of that denial disease that’s been going around.

Good point, Myo, about Mariano running over to Camila with the dirt on Yago and Nat. As a plot device, it got the news to Cam and put her in position to go to the hospital with him and then to bump into Dan there. It was necessary to keep things moving along.

Um, UA, no more pictures of Isa and Dio in bed. Pretty please? *oy, my eyes, my eyes*

Did anyone catch what Mariano said to Dan immediately after he said he’d break his face? There was a commercial, and then it started again with M’s answer, but I couldn’t understand it.

Poor, silly, naïve Natalia. At least she wound up in Rudy’s arms for now.

I also am confused about whether Cayo has actually ceded the BA to Isa or only promised to do so. Or if it has happened, but Isa has for some reason not told Dio the truth. Never put that past her.

If we are going to give Cayo awards for being a great dad, surely blaming all of the family’s problems on his soon to be ex-wife should get him a blue ribbon.

Illy has no game plan that makes any sense to me and never has. However, I also got a good laugh out of her ‘bueno aprovecho’ after the liciendo terrier had just torn up the whole dining room.

Thanks, UA, for a prompt and entertaining recap of what was to me a complicated and action packed episode.

Anita, inciteful or insightful? I do love to stir the pot. :)

I think I will just repeat that I think the topic of Miriam and Camila's response to her presence is one on which reasonable minds can disagree. I think the writers of this TN deserve heaps of credit for making us all care so much about it.

And I will be completely honest that I don't like Miriam and never have. Such a prissy sissy of a rich city girl just is not my type. What others see as sweetness seems cloying and phony to me. She is way too one dimensional to be believable. And she is just a tv character and I don't have to like her or be fair to her. :-) Of course, I really don't like her role as interloper between Dan and Camila, who I want to be happy.

That is all.

For now. :)

Dan is a dick.

Spare me the sympathetic point of view of how much tension he's under because he has to juggle so many situations. A little truth would clear the air.

And ladies, beware a man who tells you who can be your friends and who you can confide in. RUN, don't walk from that slave owner mentality.

to the-anon-above-who's-not-me:

omg, someone else who agrees with me! yay! it's me again, not-a-dan-fan. :)

yes, dan is a d*ck. and i like ur attitude - "spare me [the drama]!" - like, totally not so different from mine! yeah, boo-hoo! "it's not his fault!" - whatever! he's making the same mistake again - not telling the truth! just 'cuz he's tryin' to "protect" the wife like he did last time w/ cami. ugh, just get it over with 'cuz no matter what u do, she's gonna come out hurt anyways. now, who agrees???

Urban- Here’s the transcript from Gato Viejo’s site on the bit of convo between Abe and Dan in the waiting area that you asked about in the recap:
Dan: Didn't he tell you that I was married to Camila and we were on our honeymoon?
Abe: No, I if I knew that, I wouldn't have come here with Miriam. I would never expose her to this on purpose. So, when I saw you were so surprised I knew there was something going on. I saw your wedding ring and Camila's and--
Dan: You didn't have to be a policeman to figure it out.
Abe: That's why I had to run and tell you that Miriam wasn't well. I realized at that point that I couldn't trust him and my mistrust got bigger when I found out that the man that shot Miriam worked for him.

And this is their conversation as the episode ends:
Abe: Your behavior with Camila. You love that woman.
Dan: Of course I love her. Why wouldn't I if she's my wife?
Abe: Miriam is your wife too. Look-- I thought that if you were everyday with my sister, your love for her would come back and you could understand that Camila doesn't fit in your heart or your life.
Dan: Abraham, I wish things could be that easy but they're not.
Abe: You better decide what your feelings are soon, before I go. I won't leave my sister in this situation.
Dan: What you have to do is go to Chile and fix the problem you got me into.
Abe: Yes but I won't leave my sister alone knowing that you're gonna break her heart. That's what you're gonna do if you decide to stay with Camila, you're gonna break Miriam's heart forever if you don't chose to be with her and with your daughter. Give my sister the place that she deserves in your life, she's like this because of your inheritance, that's the reason of her pain and agony.

Short and sweet, UA. Very good snark and here are some of my favs.

Per your question re the hallway convo: "Jamás la expondría a algo como eso." Abe says if he'd known Dan had remarried hed never have exposed his sister to something like that.

Loved these!
"She flashes the rock and gloats as she exits on the musical flourish. Bitch." --Yep. Short and sweet, UA. Loved that! Very good snark and here are some of my favs.

"Rocio is on her cell talking to the brick wall that is Cayetano about Hissadora and her greed."

"Bratgirl shows up with her pseudo cleavage and real sour puss." LOL!

[Acme prepares another anvil for shipment to Metepec.]

Go, Teresa! In defense of Teresa, she's putting into deeds what Mariano was always pushing Pablo to do: fight for the one you love. She has been the good soldier here, as well, and has been the legal support in Chile for Dan at her brother the priest's request; so I think she'll show in the end that her "fight" was worth the effort. She's also the pragmatist here and can see that, like she tells Dante, Dan and Cam are solid, and Miriam is essentially the ex- here; he needs to clarify with Dan that it's alright to pursue Mir and why. Crap happens in life, so roll through the downward flow and deal!

As for Abe's self-justification that if it weren't for Don Daniel bequeathing him that ranch, Miriam would never have been hurt to begin with, there's the parting zinger which finally puts the blame on both sides, whether you're on team Miriam/Abe or team Daniel/Cam. It's like which came first, the chicken or the egg. I say the egg, cuz Abe didn't have to abuse his power afterwards by falsely imprisoning and then mentally torturing Dan the way he did after Mir was shot.

Sorry Vivi, think we crossed paths there. Je-je.

Thanks, Vivi; I made the correction.

Bratgirl has no game. She started out pursuing Pablo and sensibly gave up. Iago is more suitable for her in view of both their attitudes, but it looks like she would prefer someone with more common sense. Now, if I recall correctly her mother told her the last time they were skyping that their financial situation has improved a bit, so she should just get the hell out of La Buenaventura.

I thought she might be Hissadora's next protege, but I don't think Hissadora will want to take that risk.

Mariano looked for an excuse to see Camila with regard to the Nat situation. BTW, does he know that Natalia is the devil's daughter? Iago knows and he's not scared shytless?

I think we're entering the point at which the writers knew they needed to provide 20 more episodes. This whole jealousy thing is otherwise out of left field. He should prioritize telling Mariano what he heard from Eleuterio.

I truly think that Abe isn't happy about what he did; it meant that he misjudged Daniel and his cop instincts were more like paranoia. The truth could not only wreck his police career it could alienate Miriam from him. Those are the last things he wants or needs. He is not looking forward to the revelation, which becomes a bigger and bigger risk if they stay in Mexico. If Daniel were to return to Chile with Miriam that would give Abe time to clean matters up, but he doesn't seem to realize that this would not put a permanent cap on the truth.

However, Dan is right; none of this is that simple. He's been with Camila all this time and fell in love with her despite his previous misconceptions and in the belief that Miriam was dead. You can't turn that off like a faucet.

Abe may not get that because maybe he's never been in love?

Other people have observed that Dan's heart belongs to Camila now. His wardrobe change should also be a clue. How about when he did the sign of the cross on Miriam before her exam?

As to the censorship, the edit was a panning shot of the clothes on the floor leading to the side of the bed and about 3 seconds of heavy breathing before Hissadora answered the phone. The screenshot was the moment she said "sorry" to Cayetonto and was included for the eyeroll.

I promise there will be no more screen shots of these two in a compromising situation unless I catch the hypothetical future scene of Gussie making this discovery. That should be both hilarious and pathetic.

For those who want to further chew over how Camila and Dan should or shouldn’t be dealing with this situation, and what the jealousy scene and argument in the hospital was all about, here’s the entire argument in detail:

Dan: Take your hands off my wife or I'll hit you in the face! [break your face]
Mariano: Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?
Dan: Camila is my wife and I don't see why you have to hug her in public like that. Why are you here hugging Mariano?
Camila: It's not the place or the time for you to do a scene because you're jealous.
D: Yes, it is.
C: No, it's not.
D: Yes, it is because Mariano is using any excuse to take advantage of you.
M: I would never take advantage of any situation! I'm not like you.
D: You're gonna deny that you want my wife?
M: No, I won't deny it and she knows it but she also knows that if she's with you I would never make a move. I already know she'll never accept something like that.
C: Can you both calm down? What's wrong with you? Your jealousy or your scolding (reclamos) are so out of place. If there is someone who should/could make a scene, it's me. I DO have reasons, Daniel. Plenty of them! And you know why I don't make a scene? Because I trust you. Pu-leez! (Hazme el favor!)
D: What's going on isn't my fault--
C: Ah! It’s not???
D: No, is not. I trust you too.
C: Well, it doesn’t seem like it.
D: I apologize. I didn't expect to find you hugging like that so, I'm sorry.
M: Don't talk to Camila or me like that again. If I'm holding myself back, it’s because of where we are.
D: Well, calm down because I already apologized. Like I said, I didn't expect to find both of you like that.
C: If you found us like that, it’s because the doctor just told us that Mariano's mother had a stroke. You do know what it is, right?
D: Yes. I'm sorry. I didn't know what happened to your mother, Mariano. I apologize for my behavior and I'm really sorry.
M: Alright. [phone rings] It's my father, excuse me. Dad!
D: Seriously, I feel bad. I can't stand to see you with Mariano.
C: Mariano is my friend and you know it.
D: Yes but he's a friend that's in love with you.
C: I won't stop being his friend because of that. He's always been very supportive, whether you believe or not.
D: You don't need anybody's support but mine.
C: What are you talking about?! You think that what I'm going through with you is easy? Do you know how it feels like to have your daughter and Miriam living under the same roof? It's not easy. I'm sorry, and I can't talk to you about it because it's a complicated situation for you too.
D: Exactly. For that reason you should rely on and talk to Rafa or talk to Vivi, but not to Mariano.
C: Are you being serious about what you’re asking me? I don't think so. That way you can feel better, right?
D: How can I feel better? I can't stand to see you with Mariano-- I'm jealous.
C: I'm sorry, I won't stop being Mariano's friend because you get jealous or insecure--
D: It's not jealousy or insecurity. It's fear. I'm scared that you’ll get tired of the situation and run away and in the meantime (on your path/road—en el camino), Mariano can offer you what I can't offer you right now, today. That's why I reacted like that, I'm sorry. I don't want to lose you.
C: I also don’t want to leave you, but I’m not dealing with this well, Daniel. Instead of insulting Mariano, you should be thankful that he's with me, he's supportive of me.
[Mariano returns and the conversation ends.]

I'm sorry I didn't provide that detail, but I had a very busy weekend. It does look like that subtitle feed has improved exponentially.

Someone mentioned previously that the Mexican audience didn't like Mariano so we should not worry about the risk of Camila ending up with him.

Urban- No need for the detail. You did a marvelous job. It seems like many here want to keep the debate about Cam-Dan going so I'm just adding fuel to the fire by providing this conversation. :)

The feed is not perfect. I cleaned it up where it went wonky.

20 more episodes?

Thanks Vivi! No such luck though since DishNetwork won't let you watch one thing and tape another on the same tv. That play by play helped a lot.

Carolina - I'm with you on the Tolentino/Irene train. Glad he's finally getting over the Luzma infatuation and Irene can get her own love life and stop being Luzma's wingwoman. That should give more support to the Luzma/Nat friendship. Nat def needs to see someone else dealing with a difficult pregnancy well, with strength and dignity. Less so with the Miriam thing. I don't want her getting between Cam/Dan, but I don't actively dislike her. I want her gone, but hurt as little as possible in the process.

I am a Dan fan in the sense that I get crazy exasperated with the way he handles a LOT of things, but I do want him to be happy and with Camila at the end of things. But I agree with the Anons: all of what Cami laid on him needed to be said. I can actually understand his need to protect Miriam right now (we'll see how long that holds up though...). I think it would be irresponsible of him to play with her life just because he wants to build one with Camila, so I'm glad he's getting her thoroughly checked out first. When he was lying to Cami, he was just trying to protect his own skin after he got caught in his own web of lies. He made/makes Cam happy and started the crazy web of lies based on misinformation (and a desire to not be thrown back in jail/find out who killed his wife), so I can forgive-if-not-forget it like Cami, but he was definitely in the wrong there. And I'm glad Camila had the same exasperated reaction to his more ridiculous comments i.e. "You don't need anybody's support but mine."?! WTQ?! Dan, sweetie,we love you, but if you say madness like that again, you're looking to get smacked upside the head. Glad she called him out on that.

Thank you, UA. I love the way that you set up the scenes and thereby capture the rhythm, which was very good last night. No lapses in energy as events unfolded.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that the Mexican audience had issues with Mariano. As Vivi said, we have so many posts, I can't keep up. It's great!

It's all been said, so I'll just add a note to your point that Isadora and Dio in bed should not engage the censors' interest. In fast, it does not engage any of viewerville's interest. These two just don't cut it in the steamy department.

Great recap!!

Anon 2:11: "Mujer" also means wife when used in the context that Dan used.

Vivi: Thanks for the full translation of the final scene. I thought that Abe was telling Dan to "forget that woman." I thought that he was referring to Cam as "ese mujer." So when Dan said "mi mujer," he was saying "my wife." However Abe's usage of "ese mujer" meant "that woman." (Es correcto? Si o no?)

Abe is a bit high-handed making demands on Dan,
imho. If Abe had been upstanding, Dan really would have been by Mir's side the whole time. Abe's lie and injustices propelled Dan to LMQ. Dan should remind him of that.

Netgirl - ITA that Abe is being very high handed and that is audacious considering his being the reason for this horrible situation.

Netgirl - you are right about the "mujer" references. It is also used to mean wife and that appears to be how Dan intended it to be used. I thought that was crazy when I first heard it and reacted the same was as Anon 2:11. I actually had to look it up in a dictionary, ask two spanish language teachers and hear to Celine Dion's "I Am Your Lady" before I was satisfied that that was legit.

Wow, the pot is boiling over! What a great recap of a difficult episode. Thank you Urban.

" [Is this a novela or a Seinfeld episode?]" That was an absolutely hilarious aside. I wondered when you had struck out the "Upper West Side" what the heck you were up to.

BratGirl is proving too much of a loose cannon without any real ammo. I doubt Hiss would have any use for her at this point. But I also don't think they will send her home to BratMom any time soon because she's useful to stir things up.

To the Anon Dan-bashing club, I agree, Dan is looking a bit like a d_ck (not a duck). But, who wouldn't be under the circumstances. He's only human and entre la espada y la pared, de verdad. Thanks ViviDC for posting the GatoViejo translation. It points up the poignancy of his tricky situation. On re-reading, I realize my limited Spanish deprives me of so much nuance. If I had the time, I would watch it a second time. I did feel much sympathy for him and Miriam in the scene where he gave her a Catholic blessing.

And, finally, "my eyes, my eyes"! I saw way more of Cesar Evora than I ever want to. Ever! If he wants to play a sexy devil, then he should lose weight, work out and get a tan. I didn't think telenovelas went in for such stark verismo. Although the idea of such a scene with Gussie tickles my funnybone.
—AgnesNJ

Vivi, thanks very much for answering my question about what the doctor told Luzma in the avances. I heard and understood almost everything, but "latir" came across to me as la-something. Sigh. To be honest, I really would be somewhat relieved if Luzma's baby didn't make it. She seemed more and more likely to keep the baby, and I don't think that's a good idea. As Luzma said earlier in the TN, the baby would always remind her of the horrible thing that happened, and no child should be burdened with such a load.

Anita, muchas gracias for confirming for me that Cayetano did already sign over his property "temporarily" to Hissadora, and how Dio's statement makes sense.

netgirl, you beat me to it. I was about to say something very similar about Abe's guilt-tripping Dan at the end. Que chutzpah!

Abe did show the wrong kind of chutzpah with Daniel at the end of the episode. He created this problem and he should be the one to clean it up. It will risk estrangement from Miriam, but I'm sure that would be temporary.

Cesar Evora should definitely lose weight; he's not too old to look sexy. Wonder how he felt when he saw the playback .

Muchas gracias for the awesome recap, Urban A! Love your asides...lol.

Well, as much as I have liked Dan, I have to agree with the Anons that his behavior towards Cami and Mariano was way out there. What I especially didn't like that he said to Cami was, "You don't need anybody's support but mine." I would run, not walk, away from a man like that unless he seriously changed his attitude. I mean he's telling her who she should go to (Vivi and Rafa), but even so according to him, she doesn't need anyone but him. Really?!!! So then when are you, Dan, going to tell the truth to Miriam and be there for Camila? If I were Cami, I would take a giant step back from this one. I don't see anything odd about Mariano telling Cami about Natalia. He knows they're close, and yes, it is an opportunity to see her when she's needing all the friends she can get.

And as for Abe, I was starting to somewhat like him, but now he's blaming it all on Dan's inheritance? What about his lies and false accusations?

Thanks UA, and I think that Tolentino looks like a young Edward Yanez too.

I took the jealousy episode as a pivotal moment for Dan to realize that he is more in love with Cam than Miriam, but I think it will sink in when he has to talk to Miriam about the circumstances. Is Abe really going to go back to Chile before Miriam is told the truth? He needs to be there to face her wrath for what he's done.

As to showing us Dion and Isa in bed, I believe it's done to get us to keep up our disgust of them.

Interesting that Rocio's stroke is going to postpone the trip. Maybe Caye will want to postpone the wedding until after the 6 months is up for the deed transfer. If that happens, Isa may panic and sell the land for the tourist development before she doesn't own it anymore.

I was laughing at how fast the Natalia pregnancy news traveled. Every member of the cast was aware of it by the end. lol. If I were Nat, I'd be so embarrassed.

okay, so I watched the first part of episode 125 on youtube, so I could see the refrito of 124 (I did not go beyond, I swear). Abe's guilt trip made me roll my eyes. He reminds me of innumerable TN moms, insisting that the galan marry the rich girl because he got her pregnant. Glad AB put a spin on that old story, but still, it had me rolling my eyes and shaking my head. "Dan, it's your fault she's in this situation because...um...other people gave you stuff, so you're gonna have to play along for the rest of your life...since I screwed you over before....wait, um..."

Since the news of Natalia's pregnancy has spread like wildfire I think we can trust the avances that El Diablo will find out tonight. His reaction should be interesting, perhaps amusing. Iago is going to wish he hit the road long ago.

cathyx - yeah, minus Dio the Dangerous Devil Dad.

I feel sorry for Rocio. She had the affair when she & Caye were split & I don't blame her for not telling him. We don't know why they split, but the way he went sniffing after Iza, I'm sure he wasn't so pure. At least he admits he loved Rocio.

Abe being shocked about the look on Dan's face when he saw Miriam!!!!!!!???? What a gilipollas, the pinga told Dan she was dead, he didn't expect him to be impactado?

I have never been able to figure out why Ileana is there. No one seems to even like her except Rocio who thought she could distract Pablo from Luzma. I think the writers just put her in there in case they might need her later. Maybe she has some important part later.

I have to go watch Dan's rant since I fell asleep. Pobre Dan & Cam, they are on tenterhooks.

Ileana started out as digging for gold through Pablo. She's there for the irony of being a gold-digging spoiled brat doing what Rocio did at the same age when she married Cayetano. She's also being contrasted to the sincere and hard-working Luz Maria.

A while back I asked the hypothetical question of which of those two would help take care of Rocio if anything were to happen to her. We may soon get that answer.

UA - I totally forgot about that! You're right! Especially if Luzma loses the baby, she won't be badbound for as long as Rocio and since Mariano's house isn't yet ready, that one really leaves the one option...

Variopinta - LOL what do "gilipollas" and "the pinga" mean. I definitely understood you're meaning, but I'd love a translation because I might have you use those in the future!

Regarding Bratgirl and her continued stay at La Buenaventura:
in Mexico, it is not considered "correct" for an unattached young lady to be a houseguest in any home while another woman is not present. As soon as Rocio and Refugio left, she should have left, too. Ana is too young to be considered as a chaperone for Bratgirl in an hacienda with just men.

Lurker in AZ

Lurker in AZ, that is a very interesting point. Since she now serves no useful purpose it is the perfect excuse to send her packing. That would also take away her ability to bother Rodolfo.

She should have been kicked out when her actions resulted in Luzma being raped in the first place. I don't detect any sense of guilt about that.

I didn't mention this before but Mariano getting involved in the Iago/Natalia drama is about his sense of family responsibility and pride. He has a much cooler head than his father and is better able to handle this situation. After Hissadora really starts working on Cayetonto he will be the only one who can affect this situation.

He needs to know that Hissadora killed Padre Baldomero (where are those autopsy results?) and that she killed Alonso and Ximena. At this point he is the only one who can protect his family.

gilipollas = dickhead
pinga = prick

they sound so much better in Spanish

don't know what's going on with tonights schedule
The Prez is on at 9PM EST
Comcrap shows
Amores Verderes from 8:30 to 9:30 & then TBD. What happened to TBA? No Amor Bravio. Anyone have sth different?

UA - Great recap. Thanks so much. Among many great lines, I too loved the "brick wall." Dio and Isadora look so cute in your screenshot, but their live action grossed me out in that scene. Yet, I do wish the censors hadn't meddled so I could've had the full gross-out effect.

Dan is not a hot-headed guy so seeing him immediately escalate to saying he would break Mariano's face when he saw the embrace - IN A HOSPITAL - just didn't ring true for me. Maybe that was the writer's way of showing how much he loves Camila, as opposed to Miriam. He wouldn't get uptight seeing Dante embrace Miriam.

I too love Irene and Tolentino together. They have a sweet chemistry.

Hmmm, Miriam has two more tests to go. Maybe the doctor should've waited for all the tests results before giving her a report?

Time Warner shows the normal schedule.

The new FC is supposed to start on 3/11 at 8PM. I hope that one can hold my interest when it comes up.

Regardless of what you think of Dan, We have to give him credit for behaving more like a grown up than in most novelas. Instead of yelling and walking away, he stands there, gives his position, listens to Camila, and looks appropriately ashamed when apologizing to Mariano. And Mariano didn't create a scene by declaring his love for Camila and NOTHING about reconquistarla. Weird.

I think we can all agree that this is a really good show, and that there needs to be a shirtless Rodolfo scene.

Kelly

Dan is not a hot-headed guy? Have we been watching the same TN? :)

I think Dan's jealousy and anger is supposed to show how insecure he's feeling right now. I think that conversation way back when Cam asked him how he wasn't jealous of Mariano and he said it was because he was secure in her love for him, is supposed to be on our minds. So they are both feeling insecure right now. She's insecure about whether Dan's feelings for Miriam will return and he'll want to stay with Miriam and his baby. He's feeling insecure that Cam will dump him and move on in the time it takes for him to straighten out the Miriam mess. Neither one fo them knows how best to handle the situation, which is not shocking. It's not like one's dead wife and child come back from the dead every day. Not even in a tn! :)

UA: Re: FC's new TN. Thanks for the info. When it first came on in Mexico, Flaco said it wasn't getting all that good of reviews (he was in Mexico at the time). But on your weekend special blog re: novela writing, Jarocha said it was very popular. Maybe it's going to be one we're going to have to give time in order to engage us.

The sad love song you mentioned. Is it Mil Vidas? If so, my guess would be that the female voice is Fernanda Castillo (Vivi) since she has sung it on stage with him before.

Missed last's nights ep (still coming down from my DA high and was very tired). Your recap is greatly appreciated, as are the comments, so I can understand what went down. Will be watching it tonight. Might use the Spanish subtitles since I know what's going on. It usually distracts me too much from the action otherwise.

Great discussion over the weekend re: Miriam/Cam/Dan situation.

Re: Dan. Lot's of people never cared for Jeronimo in CME. I liked him--for the most part. Dan seems to be generating the same kind of reactions.

Finally, thanks to everyone for the kind remarks regarding my list.

Nanette

Nanette- Yes, the song Urban referred to in the recap was Mil Vidas and the singer was Fernanda/Vivi.

Carolina - Other than coming up with the brilliant idea - not! - to toy with Camila's heart and then later sleeping with her when he fell in love but still didn't know they weren't first cousins, Dan has been pretty level headed, compared with true TN hot-heads. Dan's only threatened or used violence when it was necessary, like with Leo and Alonso when he found out about the rape and the attempted rape. Physically threatening someone as mild-mannered as Mariano doesn't fit in.

Niecie, I am sure you are right by TN hot-head standards. Silly me. I was using normal people standards. :)

I would not describe Dan as a hot head at all. In situations where a hot head would explode, Dan had maintained a cool composure. When Aggie threw insults at him, he calmly told her he disagreed with her. A hot head would have cursed at her and raised his voice. When he was in the office alone with Abe when he could confront him with all of Abe's lies and the mess he made of Dan's life, the worst he did was grab his jacket. Abe deserved more backlash than he got. The only person Dan let loose on was Leonicio, and no one could say Leon didn't deserve even worse that what Dan did to him. I don't think simply standing up for oneself is someone who should be characterized as a hot head.

I cut Dan some slack over the pre-DNA test thing because if he were the son of Don Daniel I think his mother would have told him.

Related to the llamada de la sangre thing, one could believe that she would know. Some women seem to know the moment they conceive and Agatha may have been one of them.

I agree about him being relatively level-headed. Hot heads are very easy to play, so this is more of an acting challenge.

Rodolfo does need a shirtless scene; El Diablo needs a diet.

I hope we get an episode tonight because I am eager to see El Diablo go after Iago with both barrels.

Maybe if Rodolfo had a shirtless scene in front of Natalia, she wouldn't be in this mess right now.

Anyone else notice that when Ana arrived at Pab-Luz's house, Pablo carried her on his hip like a little monkey the same way that Dan sometimes carries Cam around? I thought it was funny.

Anon 2:11: I meant to get a discussion going around the word "intimidad", so thanks for bringing it up. When Dan said to Cam that he misses their intimacy, he wasn't just talking about sex. It's that plus their alone time, touching, cuddling, talking, sharing, feeling connected to each other. Cam's put up a wall and is not allowing any of that right now.

This is such a good story, and I'm almost embarrassed that I'm so hooked!

Thanks again UA for an excellent recap. These recaps certainly must take so much of your time, so thanks to all of the recappers! It takes up my time to just watch and comment, so you (recappers) are really committed! Thanks again!

Thanks Karen, Hellashelle, and Juanita for concurring. I learned that "mujer" distinction a while ago, and had long conversations with my friends about it. I've also learned that in some places in the world, the use of "esposo" for husband is better than "marido." Por ejemplo, there are differences in Mexico, Colombia, and Panama.

Now back to the story. I felt sorry for Dan. I understand his feelings of jealously, and like ViviDC, I too was happy to see Dan communicate his feelings verbally (points there!) He really is, as a recapper put in a previous title, between a hard rock and an even harder place!

I totally understand his not wanting Cam to see Mariano. Mariano is in love with her, he can offer stability, and he is her friend. People marry friends all of the time. And we have to remember, that Cami married Alonso because, at the time, he was her friend and was "there for her" even though she wasn't really in love with him. So she has a track record of marrying a "friend."

Netgirl, once again, ITA with everything you said. Dan is right to feel threatened by Mariano; his maturity and stability could start to look like a attractive alternative to Dan's sturm and drang.

If I were dating a man who got angry and violent and bullied people the way that Dan has repeatedly, I would RUN, not walk away from him. To me, it would be a gigantic red flag. He has nice manners in general and has been respectful of women, young and old. But that does not negate the fact that he has exploded with anger at various other people, again and again. Maybe some would find that acceptable, but I would not.

HellaShelle, I'm not sure whether this is true of "pinga," but I'm under the impression that "gilipollas" is used primarily in Spain. I heard it used a lot in "La Reina del Sur." Several native Spanish speakers from Latin America told me they had never heard of that word, while a Spaniard I knew turned a delightful shade of red when I asked about it. (Little did he know that I have no qualms about using the equivalent English words. :-) )

Juanita
you are right about gilipollas, used mainly in Spain, but it's a great word.
Pinga, I learned hace muchos anos(years) from a Cuban.
I haven't been able to figure out Spanish accents on windows 8.

Four possible versions of six (or so) degrees of separation:

Natalia told Amanda who told Becerra who told the Albarrans.

Then there are four possible versions:
-Ileana told Rodolfo in front of Eleuterio, who told Dorotea who told Piedad who told Gussie who told Dionisio.
-Ana told Pablo and Luzma, who told Piedad who told Gussie who told Dionisio.
-Mariano told Camila who told Gussie who told Dionisio.
-And the shortest one yet: Cayetano told Isadora who told Dionisio.

Not counted above, but ‘could have been possible’ – that piece of kaka that is Yago confronted Natalia in broad daylight screaming at her that it is not his kid and calling her all kinds of names IN FRONT OF THE HOSTEL with who knows who within earshot – that pueblo is this big (snaps fingers) – so Dionisio himself could’ve been on his way to see Nat and heard! What a loathsome creature Yago is.

There is absolutely no way Dionisio was NOT going to find out!

Soyyo

I wouldn't really call Dan a hothead either, but that's only because right now the only two people I can think of him exploding on were Leon and Alonoso. He's seen Camila with Mariano before and not been violent or argumentative or anything. Wary, yes, definitely, but nothing more than I can remember, but thankfully others on this blog have an eye for details. Could someone put out some references of the hothead behavior for me?

And thank you to Variopinta and Juanita for explaining those words! something new to add to my vocab :)

Carolina--It was late....I meant insightful, but my fingers typed out inciteful and it sounded the same. But you are certainly able to incite good-natured debates on a range of topics, so they both apply.

About mujer: I have a comment. I remember in the olden days when mujer just meant woman and was used that way. Somewhere along the line it's meaning altered a bit. The first times I heard it used as wife, it was in a similar situation that Dan was in--as in take your hands off MY wife, or I want to make you my wife.

Then there is the more subtle tn usage meaning, we've slept together. Remember Rogelio telling Bruno (I think) and Gus was overhearing the conversation that not only was Cupcake his esposa, but is now his mujer.

Remember in Eva Luna when she and Daniel were "stranded" out in the woods and admitted their love for each other..he approached the subject tenderly by telling her he wanted her to be his mujer. She thought it over for 3 long minutes and then said, yes, Daniel, I want to be your mujer and then they did it. At that point he hadn't actually asked for marriage, only alluded to it--I want to spend the rest of my life waking up with you (I know, for Eva, that translated to marriage.)

I've really enjoyed all the comments and discussions we've had on this forum.

As for the 20 more episodes, I think the writers already had the first story done (recuperating the Malquerida), but needed to extend it to what seems now a normal 170-200 episodes. I think that's where Roman comes into the picture and the Vivi-Roman, Cayetano-Isa and maybe even the Dante-Teresa-Mariano story line got fleshed out.

UA, wow, well done.

So Abe is going back to Chile? Leaving Miriam behind with Agatha?

Ummmm...OK.

Well, at least the Dr. said that it's OK for her to get a bit frisky.

UA this was a thrilling episode and as usual your recap did it justice (and then some):-) Any attempt to listed all my favorite lines would turn into a cut and paste of the entire recap. Fortunately I noticed that many of my fav’s have already been pointed out. Therefore, to keep this short, I’ll settle for quoting a couple of my favorite viewerville comments.

1) Hella Shelle: (12:27) I get the jealousy, but u have the whole ranch tiptoeing around ur wife and ur exploding on Cam's friends in the middle of hospitals? Find a gym and a punching bag to work out those glorious, beautiful biceps...I mean, frustrations. (Sorry, mind drifted there). (Well said)!!

2) Carolina (03:04) If we are going to give Cayo awards for being a great dad, surely blaming all of the family’s problems on his soon to be ex-wife should get him a blue ribbon. (You are so right)!!

3) Carolina (03:14) “I will just repeat that I think the topic of Miriam and Camila's response to her presence is one on which reasonable minds can disagree. I think the writers of this TN deserve heaps of credit for making us all care so much about it. ….And I will be completely honest that I don't like Miriam and never have .......

(I may change my mind about Mimiam later as a result of something that haven't happened yet, such as an unfavorable test result, etc.

OT: Anna Brenda-Rene Strickler or Rocio Banquells Fans – they’ll be starring on Corazon Indomable that will begin showing on 2/25/2013 in Mexico replacing Corona de lagrimas (short show). Anna is the prota and both Rene & Rocio are the bad guys. This new show is a remake of Marimar from a few decades back.

Myo-

I'll take a pass on that one. I hated Marimar.

Are Anna Brenda and Rene Strickler being paired up in that one? She's always being coupled with men twice her age.

According to Wiki, Cesar Evora is also in it.

OT: The promos look promising; it appears that they’ll have some more alumni from CME & AB –Cesar Evaro; Ricardo Franco; Yuliana Peniche; Michele Ramaglia(CME) and both Diego Oliviera (TDA-Montecristo) & Elizabeth Alvarez from Amorcito Corazon will participate.

Myo-

I think there's a shortage of available male prota that are somewhat on the younger side; the ones that I can think of are:

Christian dela Fuente (new to Mexican TN), Eduardo Yanez (who is pushing past 50), Erick Elias, Fernando Colungo (who also is on his prime), Jamie Camil, Jorge Salinas (not old age wise but looks it), Jose Ron, Juan Soler, Sebastien Rulli, William Levy & Daniel Arenas, and and Valentino, David Zepeda & Soto. I think Rene lost his prota card ... I love Marcelo Cordoba but they're refusing to put him on the driver's seat.

It is time the industry expands its search for fresh blood.

Myo-

There is also Pablo Montero, Mark Tacher, Sebastian Zurita (who needs to work out), and Eugenio Siller (whom they need to get back from Telemundo).

I think they also need to be more flexible about their typecasting. I have never understood that.

Myo: "It is time the industry expands its search for fresh blood."--Flaco has been telling me that for a long time--for both male and female leads.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the woman who plays Luz, Pablo and Rodolfo. I also like Ana Brenda but, unfortunately, I'm committing to FC's new one. This will be the first time I've watched two at one time since FC's will overlap AB for a few weeks.

I got a bit bored last week with the "don't tell Miriam, watch Cami and Dan suffer" scenes of last week, and am opting to just read the recaps this week. Funny that the recaps and comments never bore me! Thank you so much recappers for the labor you do so that I have this option. The recaps are marvelous, all of them!

UA I have an OT music question for you. Would you send me your e-mail? Thanks

OT: for those DA fans (yes, I'm still on my high) who have seen Upstairs Downstairs (the original). Is it worth a looksee?

Nanette, this might have saved you some time. Plus it's hysterical. :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=FTlNILNrtWs

Call me old school, but I don't think anything compares to the original Up Down. DA is good and I enjoy it, but I don't think the writing is as good. Some of the plot twists have been just a bit contrived, as you might have noticed.

I enjoyed U/D back in the day, but haven't seen it since. I couldn't stand Sarah in the opening season, but otherwise found the series wonderful. It would feel like a novela if you watched it M-F; there are enough episodes altogether!

Carolina and UA: thanks for your input re: Up/Down. I love British costume productions, and am especially fond of the earlier 70's and 80's mini series. Somehow I missed this one. I know they did a remake recently, but would like to see the original first.

Same here TN4ever. I haven't been able to watch the stress of the households on eggshells - especially not the hour before I go to sleep.

But I have been faithfully reading the wonderful recaps - many thanks to all!

UA - Superb recap and comments!

Does anyone have any news about the TN schedule tonight? One commenter mentioned that Obama's scheduled speech was changing the schedule. When someone knows more, please post?

We have this story about the barricaded fugitive cop on the TV nonstop this afternoon in So Cal. Sad reality ...

So maybe all of this will change the TN schedule....

Thanks fellow TN followers.

All is normal in NYC so far.

Okeedokee....

Nanette - OT/DA: I really did enjoy the original Upstairs Downstairs but must admit I love British period pieces so there are not many I haven't seen. It is not really necessary to see the first one to see the revised one as the only carry over character is Rose.
