Amor Bravío #154 (Uni 149) Tue 3/26/13 Gussie’s in cuffs, Hissie’s in a huff, and Nati’s heard ‘nuff!
Labels: bravio
Vivi -- are you taking volunteers for Que Bonito Amor yet?
I loved Cayetano this episode, and the way he laid out the facts for Isa. LOL! She was totally thrown off guard. Did not like to hear her plan to give him a more potent version of the stuff (she thinks) she’s been giving him though. Someone please save Caye before she gets her poison into him.
My heart was breaking for Camila and Gussy. That was such a sad scene as the camera came upon them huddled together and humming. How exactly is Dan going to keep his promise to Gussy to take care of Camila when he’s leaving for Chile in a few days, hmmmm?
I hope Camila calms down before “9pm” when she meets with Dion, although I wouldn’t mind her slapping him again and getting some good scratches in with no one there to hold her back.
I didn’t think Agatha could get any cuter, but she did this episode, as she slept peacefully through much of the scenes, or was nestled peacefully in Dan’s arms, or played happily with her feet as Luzma pushed her pram back and forth.
Paquita- I think you ought to go and comfort Rodolfo to help him get over being the only one without a girlfriend. :)
I understand Camila's need to be able to handle this herself; I'm the same way like that. However, she has refused all this time to face the fact that El Diablo is a perv who wants her in ways that would probably drive her to suicide (which may be what he intends when he's tired of her).
Obviously this ups the drama waiting for the audience, but the whole "What more do you want?" would not be a necessary question without that answer. She should be very suspicious of why he isn't answering it at this point.
BTW, an interesting coincidence happened this week: Yesterday morning on AMF was the scene where Federico attempted to rape Maria del Carmen after having deceived her into thinking he was her father. That's as perverse as it gets.
What a wonderful recap of a very busy episode. I think that your statement, "the irresistable force of TNs meets the immovable object of reality" is such a gem for so many situations in our favorite art form! The adoption will prevail, no doubt, but not without some snags as PSAs abound in these last episodes.
Loved your statement about Isa shedding scales. I loved the scenes between her and Cayetano last night. They must have been fun for these actors to play. He's awake and the man for the moment.
I llike the way that everyone at Amanda's welcoming hostal was caring for the beautiful little Agatha. This is a prelude for what Daniel-Miriam-Mariano-Camila, could have as an extended, blended family in Mexico. Too good to be true?
So interesting, that flash of jealousy, maybe, from Camila about Miriam and Ana spending time together, not unlike Daniel's annoyance yesterday as Miriam talked about SAnto Mariano. What a complex quartet! Another mark of thoughtful characterizations in this novela.
I never thought I'd warm up to that old Caye, but very glad to see him "tan alerto" de nuevo. Was Hissssa thinking of obtaining a new drug or just doubling up on the gotas she already got?
As for the tramites de adopción, I don't think there's time left for us to wade through a subplot where Roman is sent to back to an awful home with an evil, grasping, abusive parent, only to be rescued by child services and awarded to the care of Viv'n'Raf. If it were early in the story I might think this a possibility, but the social worker scene last night was probably a red herring disguised as a PSA. We can only hope; I don't want to see any histrionics from that unfortunately loud child. (OMG, now I'm really feeling sorry for him. )
Camila, what's your problem? She's in such a tizzy she can't think straight. All the warnings from her mom about being duped by the don, and all the support & advice from her gang of loyal friends may come to naught once she steps into the devil's den. Even though the meeting is on her turf, that turf won't be hers for long. And she stands to lose more than she imagines. I hope the Scoobies have a backup plan that consists of more than just "call us if there's a problem, we'll be right over"
Can't wait for tonight.—Agnes
The writers have made this entirely convincing given Miriam's and Mariano's rather formal but kind interaction with each other, focus on their children, and Ana's very tender relationship with Miriam.
How interesting, by the way, that our duped and sometimes-ditzy duo, Natalia and Augustina, should be willing to take their chances in Dio's lair to help the Scoobies. I'm just guessing this with respect to Natalia, from the previews. There's a message here about innocence and courage (subtle PSA).
Like you, Agnes, can't wait until tonight. What an exciting countdown to the end.
Why is Aggie going to prison, no trial, no conviction, no bail?????
She hasn't murdered anyone. Oh yeah, TN justice, pobre Aggie.
Even with a few of the usual TN cliches this is the best TN of this type I have seen & will be used to judge all the rest, "Que bonito amor" probably will be a big fat zero & closer to the worst TN FELS.
I put the historical TN's & comedies in different categories. Por Ella the best comedy & Amor Real the best historical.
Really going to miss this one but I will be free after 9PM.
Is Isa going back to the bruja for stronger drops?
Agnes, I too definitely hope that the Scoobies come up with a plan more more effective than "phone me if you need help." My hope is that Daniel is just as stubborn as Camila, so that while Camila won't agree to any help, he'll just go ahead with some way to protect her.
The avances with Dio seeing (and hearing?) Natalia's phone call are definitely worrisome. But how many rebelious women can he deal with at once?
Getting one's self-esteem back after a horrible setback isn't easy and sometimes requires drastic measures.
I also hope that Natalia doesn't marry Iagho after this revelation. He wasn't shown picking up a hooker for no reason.
Vario: I don't know if she's going back for a new (stronger) to the bruja's dispensary, or if she said she was just going to double the dose. Clearly, she doesn't yet suspect that the drops were switched out for water.
Here is hoping that Pablo gets the lab report before Hissadora has a chance to distill any more venom.
Good point about Miriam. She needs to feel some sense of control in her life right now and that will lead her to Mariano. She would be the perfect wife for him.
Lots to discuss. So when Roman was first discovered and brought to the orphanage, I kept asking why doesn't anyone look into his background? Why would anyone just accept the word of a child that his parents are dead and he is by himself? So they wait until someone wants to adopt him to finally look into this. How idiotic is this system?
My heart was breaking too over Aggie. I actually got choked up during that scene.
So Isa is going to give Caye more water drops in the hopes that it makes him addled again. You go girl. hahaha.
I hope Dan doesn't listen to Camila and goes to MQ and stays in the background. There is no reason to think that Dion will not do or say something awful where another person needs to intervene.
I hope Nat will be on her A-game when Dion comes after her when she overheard the conversation. By the way, I thought they were at Dion's home in town for the meeting, but that was a lot of land she walked over to go inside.
I don't see how Dion will be able to stop the ball rolling down the hill as far as Aggie's fraud is concerned. What could he do to stop the charges from following through?
“He lets out a huge sigh and half the plants in the room die (jk).”
“Hissadora’s so angry, she’s likely to shed some scales right then and there!”
“Dionicio, looking more like Jabba now than Cheshire,…”
ITA on Cayetano getting his brain back. Fun to see Isadora come unglued. Loved hearing him say that his feelings for Pablo haven't changed.
Dan’s the most aware of how evil and low Dio is. Camila thinks she’s going in alone, but my guess is Dan will be there somehow.
I wonder if Gussie will run into Alonso's mom in the Big House.
I'd like to see Rosario get out of prison; she doesn't deserve to be there.
Cindy
Juanita- I put narco-novelas in a whole different category (like comedies and period/historical tns). I only saw bits of La Reina del Sur, but read the recaps. From the looks of it, La Reina was definitely one of the best, if not the best, in that genre!
Cathyx- Dion asked Yago to meet him at the house he gave to Natalia. Nice house, no? The exterior is the same house they used in CME when Roberta fell and hit her head and everyone found out she was preggers.
By the way, a couple of commenters linked them together long before Miriam was back in the picture, so that tells me they knew that this was coming down the pike. There is no other explanation. This was not a foreseeable pairing.
I think we're meant to see M/M as a couple whose attraction isn't dependent on the limerence that typically brings couples together in novelas; this is a mature romance in the making.
Reminder to any newbies: This is a spoiler-free zone!
Teresa, in contrast, can't take no for an answer and is practically stalking Mariano.
I hope Natalia develops some self-esteem before this is over!
My faves are "He lets out a sigh and half the plants in the room die," and Isa shedding scales. LOL
Cayo was great last night. Now it's Nat's turn to step it up, but I'm worried about Dio witnessing her phone call.
If Dan listens to Camila and does not follow her to Dio's, it will be really ridiculous given how he's never listened to her before when he's afraid of something happening to her.
Somehow I missed that M&M have a song. I must listen for it. Thanks for the tip. It is for sure the sign that it's real!
Dan may not want to leave Cam's alone with Dio or dealing with all these problems sola; but the problem is will Mariano, in his desire to be the white knight to Cam -- get on his face about it or will Cam back Mariano's play or welcome Dan's help?
Re m&m I also remember there being a few meaningful glances between them. Not sparks but meaningful none the less.
Since I've only seen her play good characters (and with long hair), I think I will have to check this out when it starts to see her doing something different.
To show just how small the tn world is, even when it crosses networks, the actress (Ximena Herrera) who will be playing the wife of the drug lord, is the real life wife of Alex Sirvent (Rafa).
I may watch that instead of QBA. We'll see.
Not much to say about last nights ep. It was good. Paquita's recap is stellar as always and everybody has said everything I would have said.
However . . .did Piedad reallly say they should have a fiesta when all this drama is going down?
Nanette
I also believe that Miriam and Mariano have had their "moments" but they are being shown in a subtle way. The only difference is the musical underscoring (lack of) when they happen. If they were the first-level protagonistas, nothing would have to be re-filmed, just dramatic music for emphasis.
Love how Omar always blends into the woodwork to keep El Demonio (Diablo is too good for him) informed. No one noticed him at the delegacion, at the hospital and now, outside as Augustina is led off to prison. Even Daniel, who actually worked with him for a while, never seems to notice he's around. He's (Omar) either fantastic at his job, or everyone else is extremely non-observant and tunnel-visioned.
Agree that Isa would only "double the water" in Caye's tea/coffee. She doesn't really want to poison him yet - at least, not until he signs things over to her permanently - so she'll just want to addle his brain again.
Have Yago and Nat been intimate since he picked up the trash? If so, and there's no reason why they wouldn't since they're engaged and "did it" all the time before that, I really hope he didn't also pick up an STD!
Soyyo
Muy pronto usually means about 2 wks, so that means it will start when this one is finished. Tks for letting us know about it. I like that type of drama. I actually met Pablo Escobar, gentleman, guapo, many years ago. I recognized the name but didn't know it was THE PE until later.
Isn't that on the bingo card?
And (sorry because I know this is a rumor free zone) Silvia Navarro may be switching to telemundo too. So are they on the old studio system down there? I know they still audition so it sounded strange to hear an actor change stations, but that's the rumor.
I don't have new comments to add but this show is definitely the new standard to judge by.
But I do think Miriam's pollyanna good attitude will help her when she finally learns the whole truth and nothing but the truth. She'll be able to accept and move on more easily, esp. since she already suspects Dan isn't fully hers. Then again, she might just be so full of rage at being lied to again that she won't need her sweet attitude anymore.

What time will El Senor de los Cielos be airing? If the one following this one is that bad, then I may try to watch the Telemundo one. Are they competing time wise?
SN signed with Televisa a few years back after her contract with Azteca ended, and she had been with them a long time. With the end of AB, so ended SN's contract with Televisa where she has now done 3 telenovelas. It seems that she is looking at all her options, which include Telemundo. I have spotted a number of Televisa actors popping up on Telemundo, including Aracely A. who's starring in the popular La Patrona right now. And of course, Fernanda Castillo doing El Señor de los Cielos. Here she is in a brief interview about her new role: http://bit.ly/11OxqkN
It seems like the tn actors have more freedom to move between the U.S.-based Telemundo, and their home country-based studios. But it seems to be more strictly exclusive within their countries-- e.g., you're either an Azteca actor or a Televisa actor.
I haven't seen any times listed for Señor, but La Patrona is on at 9pm and has a ways to go; so does their 8pm show. It seems that the 10pm Telemundo show is the one that will be ending soon, like AB.
and ITA about the no-gossip rule. I think what Melinama was trying to avoid was a lot of nasty sniping about who was having an affair with whom, who got hair implants and all sorts of (boring) nonsense about their personal lives which you can get at the grocery checkout for crying out loud. But things having to do with the shows themselves, such as direction, scripts, production, the networks, the artists' career trajectories and how they impact what we're watching is sort of a different story. I think it's a good rule because it keeps the conversation at a much more interesting level than just a bunch smarmy details which are usually half-truths anyway. I come here because I respect the level of discourse. If it were to degenerate, I would be truly sad. Which isn't to say we've all haven't said things like: "I could swear she's had work done" LOL—Agnes
Vivi: Later on, though, she made that comment to Dan about it bothering him to see Cam go off with Mariano, so it wasn't just being irritated about Mariano calling her about Cam. That's why I was kind of surprised. Two instances when the other day she said that he was never going to be interested in her and she should move on.
Though I'm liking PEAM a little better, I was excited to hear about Fernanda's new one until the 10:00 time slot was mentioned.
I think if CarayCaray did daily recaps of TNs on Telemundo, I'd be much more tempted by the TNs there. The few I've seen have been less stereotypical and more interesting than most of the ones on Univision. But my Spanish is not what it should be, and I'm really dependent on the recaps CarayCaray provides. Not to mention how wonderfully clever and delightful they are! I've really missed having those very detailed, daily recaps when I've watched TNs on Telemundo. "The Week on Telemundo" section of CarayCaray is helpful, but it doesn't compare to the coverage and the conversation for TNs on Univision. So I'm really not sure which way to go--Qué Bonito Amor or El Señor de los Cielos. Rafael Amaya, who apparently has the lead role in Señor, was very appealing in La Reina del Sur, and of course I'd welcome the chance to see more of Vivi in a very different role. Ay, decisions, decisions, decisions!
At any rate, I'm most grateful to you for letting me know about this. I keep wishing that there were a section of CarayCaray devoted to news about forthcoming TNs on both Univision and Telemundo (and perhaps also re-runs of classics like Alborada).
Sad to see this show go but nice to see there are some good things coming our way. We're like Miriam- hopeful but not willing to put up with too much mierda. Dignified is a good way to describe her. She's like a rich version of Amanda.
