Amor Bravío #153 (Uni 148) Mon 3/25/13

Capitulo 153: The Gathering Storm

Lo del pasado

Amanda and Natalia talk about Ileana's information; Daniel tries to help Amanda, who points out that Iagho's demeanor regarding their "engagement" changed overnight.  Camila fills in her staff about the happenings at the police station.  They talk about sneaking into El Diablo's lair to steal the briefcase. Camila thanks the guys, but dismisses this as too dangerous.

Lo de nuevo

La Malquerida, Dining Room:  Luzma suggests Natalia, whom El Diablo would trust. While Camila points out that may be the case and Piedad says that Natalia has known Señora Augustina for ages and Luzma says that Natalia is a good friend and would listen to her Hipolito points out the risk that she won't believe them and would blab to El Diablo, which would make matters worse. Camila is prepared to take the risk and talk to Natalia first thing in the morning.

Hostal, Breakfast Room:  Daniel tries yet again to get Natalia to understand that her father is not the man she thinks he is despite there being no concrete proof. Amanda points out that El Diablo and his handmaiden Hissadora are very clever. Natalia is freaking because she is not sure how to act in front of him now. Amanda tells her that since there are only a few days left until the wedding she needs to be observant so she can see the truth and make the best decision for herself. Daniel tells her not to marry until she is 100% sure that Iagho loves her. Amanda apologises for involving Daniel but swears her unconditional support. Daniel plays the protective big brother saying he doesn't want Natalia to be hurt. Amanda tells her that deception only causes more pain.  Natalia cries.

La Malquerida, Dining Room:  Rodolfo says he's still worried and they all sit down again to continue the discussion. What if El Diablo catches her in the act? What will he do? It could be the same as with Augustina. This is a man who will not be challenged. Camila is not sure whether El Diablo loves his daughter or not; he cares for no one. Hipolito says they need to confirm whether or not [didn't get the details of what he said]. Dorotea suggests that they ask Daniel for help because his word carries weight with Natalia. Camila wonders why, but Rodolfo points out that Daniel is at the hostal at that moment at Amanda's request trying to talk sense into Natalia about El Diablo and about Iagho. That El Diablo coerced Iagho to marry her.

Hostal, Natalia's Room:  To the sound of that awful song about their awful relationship, she takes out a copy of the wedding invitation and starts remembering past encounters with Iagho, starting with the one where he denied being the father of her baby along with the nasty insults about her non-existent greed, segueing to the proposal in front of Amanda, and finally the boinking in the park [Again, did these two every actually do it in a bed?] where she told him she was in love with him. For a moment we flies on the wall see a glimmer of hope that she is realizing the truth, but those hopes are dashed when she asks “Which is the truth, Iago?” and “Papa, are you really a killer?” She should know by now.

La Malquerida, Dining Room:  Rodolfo goes on, talking about how worried Amanda is. The others comment about Iagho, Piedad says that they have to unmask the devil. They explain that Daniel is best for that because Natalia trusts him. Camila wearily says that this is about her mother and if she wants Daniel's help she will ask for it. Inertia.

Mariano's House:  Pablo is visiting. Rocio asks about Luzma and is sad when he tells her that this is not going well. Mariano returns carrying a sleeping Ana inside [Isn't she a little old for this?] and takes her to her room. Pablo's cell phone alerts him he has a message; it's Mayalen. Rocio suggests he stay for dinner so he won't be alone, then leaves the room – on her own two feet this time, so she must be recovered. Pablo calls Mayalen and tells her he has family matters to attend to so he will be unable to meet with her tonight. She takes it well before ending the call, although after doing so she is clearly frustrated at the stalemate she is in with him. [Too bloody bad.]

La Malquerida, Dining Room:  All get up and say goodnight. As they leave in various directions, Luzma follows Camila to tell her that it is too difficult to be near Pablo and that as soon as things are resolved with Augustina she will leave. Camila is very understanding, but thinks she should not give up on Pablo. She pledges her help with her education and therapy expenses despite her own financial situation but Luzma declines her offer. She wants to make it on her own. Camila embraces her and lets her cry the tears she doesn't want to cry herself about Daniel.

Mariano's House, Living Room:  Mariano enters just as Pablo ends his call to Mayalen. They talk about how difficult it is for Pablo to be near Luzma. Mariano suggests that if it is too painful perhaps he should tell Camila, who would understand. Pablo tells him that no matter how painful it is not seeing Luzma would be worse. Mariano says something about the difficulty of watching someone leave and mentions how Ana is sad about Miriam and the baby going back to Chile. “But that's good for you, isn't it?” asks Pablo. “Daniel will be leaving, so Camila is still here.. for you.” But Mariano seems to feel that isn't sufficient. A new song begins as Mariano talks about how Miriam's departure is sad for Ana and he is feeling bad...for Ana. Pablo notices a note in his voice that could mean something different and comments about how he and Miriam have become friends. Mariano explains that they seem to have a lot in common as the background song speaks of stealing a kiss. He has a thoughtful expression, as though he were avoiding or concealing a lightbulb moment.

Miriam's Bedroom:  Daniel is holding the baby as Miriam shows him a drawing Ana did. Daniel comments on how Ana adores the baby and how close she and Mariano got to Miriam. Miriam comments on how she particularly feels for Ana because she reminds her of herself, as she lost her father when she was a child like her. [This is the first time we're hearing this.] She talks about how despite knowing him such a short time she thinks Mariano is an honest, reliable fellow. And trustworthy, even more than Daniel and Abe. Transparent, and that's worth quite a lot. Daniel's expression says he is getting the subtext of this.

Cayetano's Bedroom:  He's lying down on top of the bedcovers in his clothes, TV remote in hand. Hissadora enters with a fake smile and a real teacup. He was under the impression she was out with some female friends [which we know she doesn't have] and she goes on about having such a good time she lost track of time. He doesn't seem upset with her over that. However, when she hands him the cup he comments that something is strange because when Alonso died none of these friends were there for her. “I don't think they're true friends.” “Yes, you're right,” she says, looking away for a second. “They're fair-weather friends. But don't worry; life gave me you who are always there for me.” She leans over to kiss him, giving him a good cleavage shot as she draws back, but as she stands up he notices something on her neck. [El Diablo definitely was staking out his territory, thereby getting careless.] She realizes what he means, steps away, and picks up her mirror. She flashes back – to the sound of violins expressing intrigue – her hot and heavy afternoon with El Diablo. Cayetano looks at her with no apparent fog and she starts saying she has an allergy to the milk in the cappuccino she drank. He's not swallowing this; this happened with Rocio and nobody is going to fool him again. She is mock-indignant, saying she isn't Rocio and she is offended. He tells her he isn't trying to offend her, but he will not permit this. “You are young and beautiful, but I won't share my wife with anybody. Do you understand?” She goes on about being with him because she wants him and doesn't need anyone else and why doesn't he accompany her to the doctor the next day for the explanation? “That's not necessary, but I want to make it clear that nobody will every play me for a fool again.” She pours it on thick, punctuating it with a kiss and a hug, but Cayetano's expression over her shoulder is that of suspicion while hers is of panic.

Mariano's House:  Rocio brings up the very subject of Hissadora and El Diablo cuckolding Cayetano, which leads to Mariano's giving Cayetano's reaction to this statement and Pablo stating that Hissadora married Cayetano for his money and to the subject of the analysis of the poison. Mariano is confident that once they know those results his father will have to listen.

Miriam's House:  Daniel holds baby Agatha, kissing her goodnight. Miriam takes her, kisses her multiple times before handing her to Caridad, who takes her out of the room. She and Daniel begin talking about Gaston and Abe, and Daniel's new job, which starts on Monday. Miriam is excited about going home to “our house.” As she hugs him and he embraces her back, we realize from his thought and expression that in his heart, Chile is no longer his home. [Not that we don't already know.]

Phone Call; Cabaña / Viviana's Place:  Camila explains that things with Augustina aren't going well and Viviana mentions Daniel's impending departure, then realizes that Camila didn't know. She apologises, saying she thought Daniel would have told her. Camila lets her off the hook, then tells her she's very tired and needs to get some sleep. Vivi tells her she's there for her and they end the call. Sad song as Camila remembers seeing Daniel shirtless for the first time, the first flower he gave her, and other significant moments right up to their return from the honeymoon when Miriam and Abe arrived. She begins to cry.

Miriam's House, Bathroom:  As the song continues, the beautifully shirtless Daniel looks at the purloined wedding photo, thinking about how he thought they would always be together, as they vowed in the church. Reality in the form of Miriam intrudes with a knock and he puts the photo in the medicine chest behind what look like packets of makeup remover or baby wipes before unlocking the door. She suggests they bathe or shower together, but he puts her off “until we're home.” He then leads her out of the bathroom, making sure the medicine chest is securely closed before turning out the light.

La dia siguente

Iglesia grounds:  Padre Anselmo is with a group of women when Rafael arrives with buenas noticias. A government group or business will be donating everything necessary to begin a clothing factory that will provide jobs. That is only the beginning because there will be instruction in other work and in computer use. Everyone is happy.

Miriam's House:  She's on the phone asking why her doctor's appointment was cancelled. Apparently, the doctor is on vacation. Caridad – who seems to be packing the baby's things – asks her what she is going to do and Miriam tells her she will simply go home without the appointment happening. Caridad says “No, you can't do that; Don Daniel is worried about your health. Surely this can't be the only specialist in Mexico.” “But why?” “Peace of mind. He's very worried about your health.” “Yes, but at times I think it's something else. It's very strange.” She finally decides to tell him and go to another doctor if he insists upon it.

Santiago de Chile, Prison:  Gaston visits Abe, telling him that Miriam will be coming home Sunday on the last incoming flight. Abe has just gotten the news that he will be free soon and couldn't be happier.

Hostal:  Daniel and baby Agatha are visiting Teresa and Dante. Teresa expresses the wish to have a baby as pretty as Agatha and Dante admits that the idea of fatherhood is beginning to appeal to him. Daniel says something about there being nothing like it, etc. Conversation turns to his impending return to Chile and Dante tells him that before he leaves he has to get him the cleaned-up audio from Alonso's e-mail so they can go back with peace of mind. Teresa doesn't seem to have realized that Dante is going back without her; she is involved in Augustina's case and can't leave Mexico until it's resolved. There is no reason for her to go to Chile at the moment. Teresa finally admits that she was hoping that Daniel and Camila would be back together by now so that Mariano would stop chasing Camila, who walks in at that moment with Luzma. Daniel is impactado.

Delegacíón, Juarez' Office:  Osvaldo has just arrived to malas noticias. Juarez has the forensic report on the bank account into which the checks were deposited and it is now empty. It was in the name of Augustina Santos and she was the only authorized signatory. Osvaldo is incredulous, but realizes that this was a trap. Juarez tells him that this ups the ante on the charges. Osvaldo realizes that El Diablo was behind all this and says so. Juarez tells him that this might be, but they still don't have proof. Augustina will do the perp walk again, this time to the reclusorio feminino vs the lockup at the delegacíón. That very morning.

Hostal:  “Olvidarte jamas” begins as Daniel starts to tell Camila about his departure. She explains she knew and it was no secret. He tells her he doesn't want to go and leave her alone with all the problems. She is trying to be dismissive, but it's obvious that she hurts and doesn't want to deal with that right now. She tries to wish him happiness and – fortunately – Amanda enters. She tells her they are here to see Natalia about getting the relevant documents out of El Diablo's lair. Natalia is not at home, but Daniel hears every word of this.

Estevez' Office: El Diablo asks him what he is worried about because he will have La Malquerida by next week. Estevez looks like he's about to blow steam out of his ears as he tells him he is tired of his promises. He demands the paperwork and El Diablo tells him it will be a few days and before he had promised them. Estevez is not satisfied, particularly as Cayetano has not put La Buenaventura up for sale. El Diablo tries to assure him that Hissadora will take care of things. Estevez is not assured. El Diablo tries the same old thing, “Don't you think it's in our interest to deliver these properties? Do you think we'd prefer to go to prison? Por favor!” [If you're pleading to go to jail, Sherlock Juarez would be only too happy to oblige.] “Now, relax! I will deliver both those ranches.” They stare bug-eyed at each other.

Hostal:  Amanda pours coffee for all as Camila finishes explaining the plan. Amanda is of two minds about this, saying that it would prove what Natalia needs to know but she is also afraid. If Natalia doesn't see this with her own eyes, she will not believe it. Daniel agrees with that, saying that the other risk is that if she doesn't do this she will never believe any of this. They made an agreement about this at the ranch. Amanda tells them that Natalia is with Iagho but she doesn't think she will be gone long. They're getting their premarital exams. [Perhaps Iagho caught something from his pick-up?] Amanda hopes that Natalia has thought about this since their last conversation. She hasn't given up hope that Natalia will cancel the wedding. Camila's cell rings and it's Osvaldo with the malas noticias. Legally this is confirmation of fraud and Augustina will begin her prison sentence. There is nothing they can do; they need to find Teresa. Camila explains that Teresa is right there and she will talk to her. She ends the call, visibly upset. Daniel asks her what happened and she tells him that her mother is being sent to prison. He embraces her and they exchange a meaningful look.

Hospital:  Natalia returns to the waiting room holding up her arm after a blood draw; Iagho exits to take his turn. He carelessly [or accidentally on purpose] left his cell phone on the couch and Natalia picks it up to snoop. She sees the text message from El Diablo stating that they will meet at one in the afternoon to firm up their agreement and contract. It ends with “If you know what's good for you you won't reneg.”

Comments:
Thanks, UA, for another very prompt and helpful recap, as well as a great screenshot of a panicked Hissadora.

Over the weekend, there was some discussion about NG's interest in Pablo. Tonight's aftermath of the phone call with Pablo suggests that she's very interested, and that in fact, as she says, the more he rejects me, the more he interests me.

Mariano, too, seemed to confirm what many of us have been seeing for days: his growing affection for Miriam. Even Pablo could see that Mariano sadness at Miriam's leaving wasn't just because of how much Ana will miss her and Agatha. And Mariano more or less admitted as much. And all that fit perfectly with the scene between Miriam and Daniel in which she talks about how much she likes and admires Mariano. (Do Miriam and Mariano have a song yet?)

Apparently Teresa and Dante don't need a song, just a loud biological clock ticking in the background.

I loved the scene between Hissadora and Cayetano (now that he's stopped taking Hissadora's love potion, he's less and less Cayetonto). I loved his savvy and his assertiveness, and, of course, her panic when all her usual tactics were no longer working. And the avances suggest that's just the beginning.

So how long has it been since Abe returned to Chile? Perhaps a month? At most, two? And he's about to be released from prison? What kind of prison sentence is that?

Was there any real point to the scene with Rafa and Padre Anselmo?

Well, it looks like the Cheerful Chickadee (Jardinera's great name for Nat) isn't so perky after reading Dio's message on Iago's cell phone. Thank goodness! Frankly, though she may now be more willing to help people gather evidence against Dio, I'm hoping she won't have to. I hate to think what would happen if Dio catches her at it. I doubt that his "love" for her comes close to matching his love for himself.

UA, I really like your suggestion that perhaps Iago won't be able to go through with the boda because he's caught some nasty STD from the woman he picked up. Ojalá.

UA, perfect recap. Thanks. Now that it's wrapping up, I can't hold my breath. I see, that there may be clearing of the clouds regarding Alonso's tape, once the lab test comes back positive for poison, and most of all once Natalia's cooperation to retrieve that precious attaché. But I don't really want this novella to end!!! What will I watch after such "the best tn ever!!!

I was right! They're gonna turn to Natalia for a V.I.P. pass to Dio's evil lair! And (of course) Dan just HAD to tag along as I predicted he would. -_- Gosh, why can't he go away already?

Ok, so I have a question about the whole argument between Isa & Caye - since when do guys ever leave a mark on women leaving an indication that they're cheating on their partner??? Isn't it the other way around 'cuz of a woman's lipstick left on the guy's collar or something? Like, what mark would Dio leave on Isa??? I didn't see anything. Did anyone did?

Oh, and another thing. Enough with the flashbacks already! Like we get it already and now they're such a drag!!!

Also, that Yago jerk is an idiot. Leaving his cellphone behind...

Pretty sharp of Cayetano to say that if Isadora had any friends, why weren't they at Alonso's funeral?

And Dan, not so bright. The medicine cabinet? What a great hiding place! Especially since they're packing for the trip back to Chile.

I didn't see a mark either, but I guess Isa is supposed to have a hickey. Ick!

UA: Loved your screen capture of Isa's expression, my favorite part of the episode.

Great recap Urban. So much happening, but the best thing of all is that our two remaining tontos are starting to wake up.

I did see a big red splotch on Isa's neck on my tv. Less of a hickey and more of a beard burn from being nuzzled in one spot repeatedly.

I sure hope Nat is a more effective spy than Gussy was-- or at least doesn't get in as much trouble when/if she's caught.

Juanita- Yes, Mar and Mir do have a love theme. It was played during their coffee chat last episode, and during the times they were speaking about each other this episode. Querido Corazon by Juan Solo.

I was wondering why Daniel didn't slip the photo behind the medicine cabinet instead. It's as though he wants to be caught.

Aleta, I can easily imagine El Diablo delivering a hickey intended to be slightly painful as a power play. Obviously neither of them thought far enough ahead to the possibility that someone would notice.

She probably counted on him being completely out of it.

This could be the beginning of the end of her unholy alliance with El Diablo because -- per TN rule -- villains always turn on each other at the end of a story.

Juanita- That's hilarious about Dante and Teresa only needing the ticking sound of their biological clocks. LOL! It was funny when Dan teased Dante about skipping over the daddy phase and going straight to being grandpa. Dante was kind of annoyed that Teresa seemed willing to blow off going to Chile all together, and was still harping on the Mariano-Cam issue. He is so ready to move on-- with her. But she doesn't seem to quite understand his level of interest in her.

As for the random scenes of things progressing in the self sufficiency project Aaron started, I think this is meant as a PSA for the Mex audience. Throughout this tn they have been promoting free educational programs provided by the gov that poor people can access, like the online university Tolentino will be attending and now these training programs.

Gracias UA. Wonderful recap. I actually started to read it last night, but the hour was too late, alas. So, it's the perfect complement to my morning coffee. I love the line: "Hissadora enters with a fake smile and a real teacup." Very real, but how gratifying to all of us in Viewerville who know what she doesn't about the not-real drops she's putting in there.

and "...She flashes back – to the sound of violins expressing intrigue ..." I love how you weave in your musical sensitivity for the rest of us. Somehow you manage to pick up on these moments that go right past me.

I agree with Juanita about Abe's sentence, maybe they'll give him a few months of community service on top of his week or two in the slammer.

I also saw the mark on Hissadora's neck. It didn't exactly look like a hickey, but was definitely red. I suppose she could have passed it off as an allergic rash. How indiscreet of her. But it's sort of the time in the plot where the villains have been on top of their game for so long now that they're getting sloppy. The look in her eyes (which you captured so brilliantly for us UA) was like "Uh-OH". Everything is riding on these land grabs going through, and I think they've both gotten smug and complacent. It's not a done deal!

I think Estevez will escalate his pursuit of the lands so that the devil and his handmaiden will end up in prison. Death is too easy an end for so many novela villains.

On Easter weekend I will post the Karmageddon discussion. Does anyone know whether the comments are lost when a discussion is returned to the Drafts folder?

Thanks, UA. Prompt and so on-target in your comments.

So many good comments already this morning. I just want to add that I found Daniel's expression while Miriam was waxing eloquent about Mariano priceless. I wasn't sure whether it was disdain for Mariano generally, annoyance that he was hanging around Miriam as well as Camila, or jealousy toward Mariano because of his love of Camila. Maybe all three. Anyway, no love lost there! On the other hand, Miriam and Mariano are quite taken with each other.

Vivi, thanks for your answers to my questions about whether M&M have a theme song and about the point of the scene between Rafa and Padre Anselmo. I guess I realized that that scene was some kind of PSA, but it seems totally unrelated to the plot. At least the business earlier with Tolentino's being able to further his education had some connection to the plot, in that Tolentino was shown to be exceedingly depressed about Luzma's choosing Pablo, and the education possibility gave him a new focus and motivation. But the scene between Rafa and Padre A seemed wholly irrelevant to the TN's plot.

Grcias, UA, for a wonderful and rapido recap. Loved this re: Nat and Yago, "Did these two ever actually do it in bed?" Not that I can remember!

Also loved the reference to Isa being out with female friends, "Which we know she doesn't have." LOL

I saw the redness on Isa's neck very clearly. I assumed it was a large hickey, but a beard burn is a real possibility. Yes, they're getting sloppy. I can't wait for the point where the villains turn on each other....

As for Dan's so-called hiding of the wedding photo, I had the same feeling that perhaps he wants to be caught.

Now, what kind of a sentence did Abe serve? He was the chief of police, or something like that, and he gets one month for what he did? Increible!

I am wondering whether he had to turn in his badge. That's what would happen here in the states.

He has an inheritance, so he doesn't need to worry about money, at least for a while. He could sell any real estate and join Miriam in Mexico when she realizes how she feels about Mariano. Abe could probably become a detective or private eye if he still wants to work. I said it once before: Mexico City would be a good place for him. It has a Jewish population of 50,000 which is more than in all of Chile. He could meet a nice woman (if Caridad is not an option) and have his FPS.

Urban- ITA that it's likely that Abe had to turn in his badge. Considering how much he loved his work, that's huge punishment for him. I'm just glad he'll be out soon, because Mir will need him once the last pieces of the Dan-Cam puzzle hit her full force.

We got some more reasons why he has been so overprotective of Mir. She actually said that both her parents (mis padres) died when she was a girl. She kind of swallowed the last 's' in that Chilean way. That means, it's been her and Abe alone for a while, and he seems to have taken on the role of not only big brother, but mother and father too.

Well, I guess he's not financially challenged, and perhaps he and Caridad would work...or someone else. I just think he got off too easy for messing up somebody's life, namely his brother-in-law.

It's possible that the abuse of authority he's guilty of is dealt with much less harshly elsewhere than here.

What counts for us is that Abe did feel genuinely guilty about it when he realized he was wrong about Daniel and he did turn himself in when he could probably have gotten away with saying nothing. However, that would not have earned him Miriam's forgiveness, which is what counted for him. The fact that he turned himself in probably also influenced the length of his sentence.

In the case of Hissadora, it would be an ICKY!

I saw the red mark on Isa's neck. Watch out, kids!!☺

What was it that Dan hid the photo behind? I hope it wasn't something that Mir uses!! We just know she will find it.

What is it with carrying sleeping 11 year olds so as not to waken them??? Ridiculous!!! They're practically teens.

Thanks for the great recap UA.

Ann-NYC

UA - Muchas gracias.

Poor Miriam. What hot-bloodied woman wants to hear "let's wait till we get to Chile” when she wants to shower with her husband right now? Amazing that Daniel thinks he can continue with the lukewarm kisses and “not tonight, honey” without Miriam changing toward him. I too loved watching Daniel's face as Miriam waxed on about Mariano's honesty, trustworthiness, transparency, etc.

I don't think Daniel told Miriam to wait until they get back to Chile. She wanted either to shower with him or/and sleep with him, and he said he was too tired. She said OK, "hoy te salvas, pero mañana no." Which I take to mean OK, today you've escaped, but not tomorrow.

Yes, that was my understanding, Juanita, regarding Miriam's response to Daniel's being too tired. I honestly don't know how she hasn't tied the man down and demanded an explanation for why he no longer wants her the way he used to:)

It looked like Dan hid the photo behind Miriam's maxi pads! LMAO!!!

Juanita - Thanks for clarifying what Daniel said to rebuff Miriam. If he stays too tired regularly, Miriam may want him to see a doctor. :D

Tks much UA,

I hope Becerra y Juarez don't have a brain warp now, all they have to do is track where the money went, they know or should know that Aggie didn't take it out. Maybe they need Teresa to figure this out for them. I was afraid Dio put the acct in Aggie's name only. I would think tracking the money would be part of any prosecution anyway.

Thanks for the recap UA (and last week's too). You got quite the exciting episode.

I know its been discussed but I wish someone would tell Luzma she's making a very bad decision regarding Pablo. Even in TN time they haven't been together more than a month...

I hope Nat shows up at that meeting w/Iago and Dio. Before she let herself get deluded, she was a good Scoobie member.

The previews seem to imply Dio asking for Cam. I wonder how much torment we will have to endure or will the writers save us from that? Brain bleach anyone.

If the money was withdrawn via ATM they may not be able to trace it. If it was electronically transferred to an offshore account that's also a maybe-not. They can get an ISP, but if it was at La Malquerida it still implicates Augustina.

She has never been on a computer that any of us know of, but I doubt that Camila, Daniel, Piedad, Luzma, or anyone else will be convincing enough.

Question: Does Mexican justice allow marital confidentiality in trial situations? This rule in US law is often misinterpreted to mean that someone can't testify against a spouse when the truth is that they cannot be compelled to testify against a spouse.

El Diablo is too willing to and someone needs to pay attention to that.

I is my understanding that lowerclass men quite often do "mark" women during affairs in Mexico. If El Diablo is such a thug this is just another sign of the circles that he runs in.

I think Miriam lost both of her parents (padres).

I think Dio would take the money in large chunks, too much for an ATM. If he did take it from the ATM, they have cameras, but the tapes have probably already been reused, I think they are kept 2 wks. He has transferred that money to his own acct somewhere in some other name. That name will be on one of the passports in the briefcase.

Yay! For Cayotano finding his marbles once again. He WAS a pretty sharp guy before Isa, her charms, and her PL#9 arrived in his life. Love the panic photo and I am looking forward to seeing more of that look on her face.

Yay! For Naty getting a clue.

Yay! For Dan hiding the wedding photo behind Miriam’s kotex. That way she’ll be SURE to find it.

Yay! For UA and a great recap. :) Many thanks!

Who knew that a komodo dragon could get a hicky? With the scaly skin and everything, I wouldn’t have thought it possible. BTW, I am so busy with the subtitles, I miss some of the visual stuff, but I saw that mark on Isa’s neck straight away. I thought it might look like a rash or allergic reaction one might get from a necklace, not a milk allergy (QTH?), but mostly it looked like a love bite from the devil himself.

ATMs have cameras. In Mexico, they also usually have a guy with an automatic weapon standing there and watching you. In a small town like Aculco, I think they could figure out who made an ATM withdrawal pretty easily. I agree with VP that the contents of that briefcase are going to be key.

UA, I’ll take your word that villains always turn on each other at the end. You are certainly more experienced with these things than me. And I agree completely that it could be Estevez in the end who lands them in prison - and who also expedites them turning on each other.

Interesting point about "marking", but El Diablo doesn't generally conduct himself as a lower-class person. He has adequate polish to enter a drawing room so why would he be foolish enough to ignore this particular detail? Even if Cayetano was completely out of it, someone would have noticed.

LOL at "Icky"!

UA: Thanks for the great recap. This is the part I hate: the bad guys racking up win after win right before the anvils fall.

Cam’s flashback scenes: wasn’t she unconscious when Dan was with her after the bull goring?

Though I’d like to see that Iago caught something from his streetwalker friend, I’d kind of like to see Nat leave him at the altar.

Mariano maybe developing feelings for Miriam, but there’s no doubt he adores the Budgekin. She’s going to end up with two papas who she can wrap around her adorable little fingers.

Nanette

Vivi: thanks for the clarification re: the Dante/Dan/Teresa convo. I didn’t get that Dante was a bit peeved at Teresa.

If Abe had to give up his badge in Chile for abuse of power, wouldn’t he have a hard time getting hired anywhere else as a law enforcement officer?

I am so disappointed I have not been able to follow this show and the recaps as much as I would like but thanks 2 U, UA and the other recappers, I think I am keeping up okay.

My only questions are how did they get a sample of the poison and does Cayetano know their suspicions?

Thanks

Agnes: Sorry to hear about your mother. You know we're all pulling for her.

Rosemary, Ileana saw Hissadora putting the drops in Cayetano's tea. She stole the bottle from her purse and replaced it with a bottle that contained only water. She left with her parents so unless she comes back before Hissadora's anvil falls, she's safe.

Everyone has tried to tell Cayetano of their suspicions and he has dismissed them all.

Thanks UA, this was a great episode with lots of action. You did your usual great job.

First, isn't it possible that Dan hid the photo with the idea that he will come back and hide it safely when Miriam isn't around? That's not to say that he could forget to do it later, but it is possible. I once hid a christmas present and totally forgot about it until months later when I was in that closet looking for something else and discovered it.

Juanita, so funny that Dante and Teresa's love song is the ticking of the biological clock. That's a good one.

Aggie sure is in deep. Poor lady.

I still say no boda for Nat. At least not with Yago. She's going to find him out before they get that far. I also say no trip to Chile for Dan either. It's too close to the end for him to leave.

I say it was a goatee burn on Isa's neck. They were hot and heavy in that scene. And I loved the screen shot of Isa's face in the recap.

I'm also glad that they brought up the audio tape. But they still haven't mentioned the phone records. Maybe that's a lost clue.

Nanette, thank you for your kind concern. Things are a little better today. I'm hoping this isn't the beginning of the end for her. My mom's a tough old bird, but a person can only put up with so much and she's discouraged. I'm hoping Spring will help her spirits a bit. We're doing what we can.

And thank you for mentioning the budgekin. That adorable creature has certainly grown on me. (And she's growing fast). And I'm thrilled that Cayetano is taking back the reins. Don't like his arrogance, but surely this is just so Viewerville can enjoy a little schadenfreude when his karmic ship comes in. He'll be cowed by the realization, maybe humiliated a bit, but I think the character is written with a certain nobility of spirit that will win in the end. I certainly hope to see a reconciliation with Rocio and rebirth as a wiser paterfamilias.

How many lines have they given Caridad? Not even sure what her voice sounds like, except it's kind of small.

I also wonder how Dionisio Ferrer (roll those "rr"s) has been able to pass himself off as a upper crust. Those people all know each other and introductions are usually vetted.

Agnes- I'm also hoping for the best for your mom and your family. Yes, let's hope warmer spring weather raises all of your spirits.

The baby is adorable, and has really gotten used to being passed from hand to hand among the cast. It makes up for a lack of Maja sightings of late.

I supposed Dio has only had to pass himself off as upper class among businessmen, where really what counts is money. Don Daniel never liked him, and could see right through him.

I don't think they've ever said where he's supposedly from. He might have started out passing himself off as Cuban (which is the actor's real ethnicity) or "Dionicio Ferrer" is the stolen identity of a person born to the upper crust who is either dead or out of the country; that trick has been done before.

I don't think that it matters; there is some upward mobility in Mexico that is enabled by education (unless TN's lie about that, too).

Thanks for the explanation, UA. So Ileana spent ONE day out of this whole telenovela doing something useful. No puede ser.

My prayers and thoughts are with you, Agnes, and your mother. Hoping her spirits are lifted with the good weather coming.

Agnes - My best as well. It's so tough to see a parent fail and the winter doldrums only add to everyone's worries. Here's to your mom's recovery in body and spirit.

I meant to add this morning -- work gets in the way of posting! -- that part of Daniel's annoyance with Miriam's fascination with Mariano was her description of him as a truthful and transparent man. Surely that hits Daniel here it hurts and is not entirely accurate inasmuch as Mariano hasn't revealed that Daniel and Camila were married!

Lactose intolerance vs. a goatee burn or hickey. You gotta hand it to Isa for her creativity, though Cayetano didn't look like he was buying it.

My intolerance to lactose gives me a goatee burn every time I have it.

Loved this recap UA! LOL at the side comments, many mentioned already. I do want to point out a teeny tiny thing and I hope you don't take this the wrong way because I really do respect and appreciate what you recappers do. It has been mentioned that many people here are Spanish learners so I feel I should point out that "La dia siguiente" should actually be "El dia siguiente". Although dia is feminine, it's one of the words that doesn't follow the rules.

Actually, dia is masculine.

Vivi in DC: you crack me up! "Less of a hickey and more of a beard burn from being nuzzled in one spot repeatedly." Eeeeewwwww so gross! LOL but so true!

I love all the different things people have suggested that Dan used to hide the picture. Mir's maxi pads! I actually thought it looked like bandages but I like someone's suggestion of baby wipes, that makes it much more likely that Miriam is going to find it!

While I like the idea of Abe and Caridad getting together, has anyone thought that there might be something else between Abe and Gaston? That hug they gave each other last night was very enthusiastic. I think I'd like to see that happen on this TN!

I was so glad Caye brought up Isa's non existent girlfriends, he's really starting to open his eyes about Isa.

I mentioned it before! Natalia is going to redeem herself by being the one to steal Dio's briefcase! I truly hope so because she had really been so irritating and Estupida!

I'll also say it again! I've been calling the M&M pairing for a while! Thank you for pointing out the clues in that scene between Mariano and Pablo UA! I missed some of that scene.

Thank you again for that wonderful recap and everyone's comments! This blog always brings joy to my day!

You are right Cathyx, all the more reason it should be el dia and not la dia. I just assumed it was feminine since it ends in a. (Sigh) you growing up speaking a language and it still confuses you :)

Lily: I was thinking Abe and Gaston as a couple even before they hugged!!!

Abe has never been married, that could be why. If that does happen to be the case, it will be the first gay man they portrayed on a TN that wasn't also very effeminate.

Maybe they'll explore it at the end of this TN and then if it goes over well enough, have a longer storyline in the next one.

I seriously doubt they are gay, and if they are, I might just eat my hat. Or my beanie.

In Sortilegio, Julian Gil and Marcelo Cordoba (ay papi!) were very masculine, and very much involved sexually with each other. I don't get any vibe from Abe and Gaston, other than mentor and mentee who have a lot of respect and love for each other.

I forgot about them Vivi. But the character of Marcelo Cordoba, whom I love too, was also married to a woman, so he was bi. But I would love to see him starring in something. Is anything in the works?

Honestly, I didn't think they were gay. I think that Abe was just so excited that Miriam was coming home and he was being freed. :)

Cathyx- Apparently our telenovio (Ay) Marcelo!, will next appear in Amores Verdaderos. As I am happily watching that fun piece of tn fluff, I look forward to whenever he pops up there. I hope he's playing a nice guy so that I don't feel guilty drooling over him, like his evil villain in Por Ella Soy Eva.

Agnes, I hope all is well with you. I know that is never easy.

No Vivi, no! Not that piece of trash. I would like to see him starring in something that was actually good. Something upcoming. I think we must have the same taste in men.

LOL Cathyx! I understand your trepidation, but if you don't think about the plot too much, it's a fun tn.

Felizmente comparto mis telenovios contigo, amiga! :)

Vivi, I have stopped watching that TN, but I read the recaps. Then I got busy and stopped reading the recaps. Then when I stopped being so busy and had some time on my hands, I read the recaps and nothing new happened. They keep rehashing the same plot over and over and over. Chris is still jealous. Paula still wants to have a relationship with her son and he still doesn't want one. Nikki still loves Guzman, but she is still thinking that he's married and she is still pretending to be into another guy. Kendra is still trying to wheedle her way into the Balvanera money. Leo is still tormenting what's her name. It will go like that until the last 2 hour finale.

Vivi, Marta, TL, UA, and anybody else I may have missed: thank you. I appreciate your kindness. This is a very warm community and I'm grateful for caring words.

I cannot wait for tonight. We've waited a long time for this to unfold. The Karma Express is rolling into the station and I can't wait to see Hissy & the Don start squirming.

Rosemary La O, you crack me up: "So Ileana spent ONE day out of this whole telenovela doing something useful. No puede ser." That is just about the size of it. But the writers and directors gave her a sweet goodbye, leaving us no doubt that her role is finished. I liked the feeling of the familia Albarran leftovers all hunkered down together. Papa Caye will be joining them soon enough, if he can keep his wits about him. Send that Komodo back to her lair.

Actually she needs a cage.

Agnes, Life has gotten super busy for me so I haven't been around as much, but I am sorry to hear about your mom. It's a very tough thing to go through.

Agnes/LXV...I am so late so many days that I can't even comment, but want you to know that I am thinking of you and your mother. I sincerely mean that.

Fatima

Thanks guys —Agnes
