Amores Verdaderos #79 Fri 3/1/13 True Love Diaries and If Lovin' You Is Wrong I Don't Wanna Be Right

Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman, we have another letter from the writers of this TN.

Dear Patio Peeps,

Yeah, we've had too much Baileys. We thought we would drop you a line to say howdy. See we told you we would incorporate some more comedy in this TN. There will be more coming, you can count on it. We also got a letter from PETA, complaining of our shabby treatment of Balzac, you know letting him run all over the D.F. in the storyline. We assured them that Balzac is safe and sound. Not a spoiler, but we wouldn't mistreat a dog. We also want to give a shout out to NovelaMaven who got that letter from Kendritta. Needless to say, we gave her a dressing down for sending you that letter, and told her in future, she must show us the letter before she sends anymore. We like your Patio and want to keep it Kendho free. We have heard some chisme that FF and Anyballs are up in arms about no table for them either. Don't be surprised if you receive a letter from them. Just a heads up. Now we have to get back to writing more of this TN but just wanted to drop our Patio Peeps a line to let them know we are enjoying the Patio and also that store you now have set up. We'll keep in touch.

Sincerely,

The Writers

We start this epi with Guzmi and Felipe talking about the gambling, Ms Vikki and the Angel talking about how her "reconciliation" with FF is just for show, not hanky panky, it's just for Nikki's benefit. And then Nikki and Roy and how many championships he's won with the tennis and now he's done. And how Nikki is gonna be his future wife. He tells Ms Vikki this and she is shocked, I tell you shocked! She personally, to herself, doesn't think Nikki is ready for this. So Roy explains he means not tomorrow of course, but they are gettin married and besides adds Nikki that they have known each other a long time, were a couple before and that the families have known each other foreva! We'll get back to them.

Brother Can You Spare a Dime?

So the staff is taking up a collection for Felipe, ya know to pay off El Turco. Well they don't have enough. Seems Polita is not thrifty with money. They don't even have 3 thousand pesos, when Felipe needs 200 thousand pesos. Carrumba! They think they won't be able to help poor Guzmi save his father and Polita remarks that Guzmi is gonna lose his Papa cause El Turco will make him sleep with the fishes. Jean Marie and Tomi tell her to hush her mouth! Don't even wish that on Felipe. So now Jean Marie wants to know if Ms Vikki and FF made up, oh sure they did and Polita helped move the F'ers things into the bedroom. And don't talk about it, eva, it doesn't leave this room! So Ms Vikki comes in pacing and not looking like herself and Tomi asks her what's up? Nikki needs her meds before going to bed and Tomi gives them to Ms Vikki and tells Tomi they will have a little sit down later and have a chat. Guzmi comes in about this time and wants a chat with Ms Vikki, they will speak alone and they go. Tomi, Jean Marie and Polita all look worried.

The Long Goodbye:

So Nikki and that putzy Roy, he of those horrid red pants, are saying goodbye in the hall. He is wanting to say goodnight to Ms Vikki and he's so excited he is back with Nikki again, oye vey, I must say. He won't let Nikki get away from him again, Ruh Roh! He is smooching her and Ms Vikki and Guzmi are coming into the hall. Guzmi sees the smooching and is drop mouth opened shocked! So Roy will call Nikki tomorrow and he finally goes. So Ms Vikki is just so confused about her daughter's behavior. So Nikki says she is over the moon about Roy, what a great guy he is, blah, blah, and finally heads up the stairs and on the Landing of Doom, she stops, pauses looks down and is not so happy.

Now Ev'ry Gambler Knows That The Secret To Survivin'

So Felipe is in the body guard's quarters cleaning up,when Angel comes in and intro's himself to Felipe. Felipe intro's himself too and Angel wants to know what the heck happened to him. Well, Felipe tells him he got in a fight. Angel wants to know what the heck is up with that, he looks like he ran into a wall. So Felipe tells him no not that, he's a gambler, doesn't know when to quit, causes his son Guzmi all kinds of problems, so the ever helpful Angel tells Felipe he will get him some ice for his face and Felipe thanks him. The Angel goes.

The Concerned Mama and the Spurned Suitor:

So Ms Vikki is concerned about what the hell is goin' on with Nikki. Guzmi wants Ms Vikki to forget all about the convo he had with her about Nikki. But, But, he's so in love with her, si?? asks Ms Vikki? He admits it's true he is in lurvve with her, but he's glad she doesn't know, cause now that he saw Roy and she kissing, he didn't say that, but it's implied, he knows he means nothing to her. Ms Vikki still thinks she ought to talk to Nikki, but Guzmi asks her not to. Then he'd have to quit his job, and he can seperate the personal from the professional. Ms Vikki so doesn't want to see Guzmi suffer. Guzmi says his Papa is suffering and he needs a favor from Ms Vikki. So Ms Vikki asks what is up. He explains about the gambling his Papa does, the El Turco beatdown of Felipe and no money, swim with the fishes. So Ms Vikki wants to know how much? Guzmi tells her 200 thousand pesos! Guzmi tells her to deduct it from his salary, he just wants his Papa to be with him, not swimming with the fishes. Ms Vikki tells him to be calm, she'll give him the money tomorrow. Ms Vikki wants something in return from Guzmi. She wants him to stay and help her with Nikki and her bulimia. She wants him to keep a watch on Nikki and if anything is wrong to tell Ms Vikki. She doesn't want to be alone in this. Guzmi tells her not to worry. He will keep watch over Nikki. Then Ms Vikki tells Guzmi she would have loved to have him as a son-law-in. Que esa Mujer! Jus' sayin'

First Aid in the Bathroom:

So Angel has brought an icepack for Felipe. He asks if Felipe is any better? Time heals all wounds eventually is what Felipe tells the Angel. He'll be fine in a couple of days, but some wounds never heal. Angel thinks he is talkin' about Guzmi's Mama. Guzmi never talks about her. Felipe tells Angel there is nothing that hurts more than things ending before their time. Felipe could have really been happy with Guzmi's Mama and he advises the Angel to never leave things unfinished. Always finish what you start.

It's Too Late To 'Pologize, It's Too Late:

So now Ms Vikki is in her bedroom and the FF comes in with his old man jammies, (Thanks NovelaMaven) and toots his apology. So sorry he was drunk, doncha know, but, but everything was soooo true, he wants her, he needs her, he lurrvvves her. Oh, please gag me with a spoon already! She is very firm and tells him that will NEVA HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!! Ms Vikki is just disgusted. He wants to be her everything again, he essentially goes over the same bullshit as before, he loves her, he needs her, he wants to gasp, win her heart! So Ms Vikki puts her foot down and tells him she won't be forced to do the nasty with him eva, this marriage of theirs is only for show, they are pretending to be together and if he can't get with the program, he can get the hell out of her bedroom, no looky, no touchy, no feely y punto! He takes umbrage with her tone, he ain't some stranger she is talkin' to, he is her HUSBAND! So Ms Vikki makes it very clear that she is only sharing the bedroom and her bed with him for Nikki's sake, no hanky panky is that CLEAR!!!! As in CRYSTAL!!!! He gets that f-u look on his face.

Lord I Was Born a Gambling Man:

So Felipe is in the kitchen of the Balvanera Manse and Guzmi comes in and tells him that the debt to El Turco will be paid. Ms Vikki is gonna loan Guzmi the money. Felipe thanks him for always saving his bacon, when in comes Salsero, all happy lookin' and wants to know if Felipe has taken up boxing? So Guzmi tells Salsero this is not the time to be jokin' around. Guzmi is Felipe's son and will take care of it. Salsero is nice and says he hopes Felipe is better soon and goes. Guzmi informs Felipe that he is getting the money from Ms Vikki and will pay her back little by little, and Felipe swears this is the very last time he will be doing this, pinky swear! Guzmi doesn't want to hear his promises and warns Felipe this is the very last time he will bail him out. Now Guzmi is stuck in this house for a long time and if it hadn't been for Felipe he would have left already. So Felipe discerns that's why Guzmi was packing. Guzmi tells him now with this loan from Ms Vikki he had to change his plans. Felipe feels bad, and Guzmi tells Felipe because of his gambling his Mama left him, he loved her very much! When his Mama left she was dead to him. Then Felipe says he knows how much it hurt when Mama left them and Guzmi quite angrily, tells Felipe the same could happen to him, as in dead to Guzmi. Now matter how much it hurts if Felipe doesn't straighten out, Guzmi will consider him dead too, and he goes.

The Diary of Jose Angel Arriaga:

Dios Mio I have stumbled upon something so delicious, er, interesting. I was looking for Ms Victoria and came to her sanctum sanctorium, hoping she would be there. She wasn't, but I came into the room anyways and there was a small light on. I took a gander at some of the papers on the table and read the following: She felt that man made her shiver. His nearness, his skin, his smell. She dreamed a dream inside her mind, about belonging to someone else. What a pity that man was her bodyguard! Her Bodyguard!!!!!! I was shocked, I tell you shocked to read this. Ayi Carrumba! So what did I do? Hmmmmm??? I kept reading of course. I just had to know more, doncha know. While the Angel is reading this manuscript, Ms Vikki is writing in her notebook and the FF is sleeping in the bed. Ms Vikki is ok though. Maybe she gave him some knockout drops???? Jus' sayin' We'll get back to the Angel's diary.

Mother and Daughter say Nighty Night:

Nikki is in her room and trying to sleep. She just can't and I bet she is riddled with guilt. So she gets up and goes to her closet and roots around and suddenly she has some chocolates. But she doesn't get to scarf them down cause there is a knock on the door. So she puts the chocolate away, closes the closet door, goes back by her bed and says come in. It's her Mama of course. So Ms Vikki has come to tell Nikki nighty night and hey she brought her a little letter to say how much she loves her Nikki, read it whenever she wants, she just wanted to say how much she loves her princess. So they say their good nights and Ms Vikki goes. Now Nikki looks at the letter and starts to read it. It says:

For My Beloved Daughter.

Let me give you a hug you will never forget and a kiss that goes everywhere with you. A love that doesnt' judge you, nor condemns you, a love without conditions. A word that cheers you and helps you to carry on. In me you'll find a shoulder to pour your grief on, but above all a heart which is open to you. I'm giving you a voice that tells you its not over when you feel you've fallen into despair. My love for you is all over this house and I'm giving you a pair of wings to fly. (ed note: I don't know if I got this precisely right, please correct if I got it wrong). Moms

Nikki loves this letter. She says dearest Mama.

The Diary of Jose Angel Arriaga continues:

So I sat there reading this manuscript and just loved it. My facial expressions changed and I waited with bated breath to get to the end. So I read the next passage which said, That man that came into her life, almost by mistake, that risked his life to save her, that forbidden man. So then I hear this screeching! Arriaga, what in the hell do you think you're doing????? Ayi carrumba! I dropped the papers all over the place and I swear if I wasn't in such good shape I would have had an infarto, jus'sayin'. So I was picking up the papers as she was just a yellin' and a screaming at me for invading her space! So she wanted an answer, and I was stalling for time, telling her I wanted to put the papers back in order I wanted to tidy it up, so to speak. So to stall for more time I asked her about this story, ya know it seemed sort of familiar. Like I'd lived it. Well, my Mama did have that ESP thingy goin' on. Maybe Ms Vikki had it too. So I asked her. This story with a woman like her and an employee like me. who wrote this? Hmmmm? Well, after a little pause, she gives me a look she and  she said she wrote it. Ayi Carrumba!!!! And why did I want to know? Well, did she or did she not write this?  I told her it was muy intersente!  She said yeah, it is interesting. She said she was sure it it was cause she watched that bodyguard movie, ya know the one and asked if I had seen it? So I told her no time for the movies, but since I didn't read the ending I asked her if the bodyguard stays with the employer? Not in the movie. But what about this book??? Does he stay with her? What? Ya know is he with her??? She hemmed and hawed and said with her story she doesn't know. Now I asked her, you are writing it, how come ya don't know? Ms Vikki then tells me it is a work of fiction, like ya know fantasy island. Now I wanted to know about the trees, and I'm, er, he is looking for wood. Shouldn't have said that cause here she is asking me what the hell I'm reading this for. So I told her I was lookin' for her, saw the book and started reading and really liked it. This book just enthralled me! So we said good night, and then of course she called me back and asked me how I liked the book, when I just told her! So to humor her I told her I liked it, I really, really liked it. She was happy with that and so I went my merry way. Que esa Mujer, jus' sayin.

FF and Salsero have a convo:

So Salsero and FF are having a little convo in the home office at the Balvanera Manse. FF is sayin' how bad he is and needs to get something off his chest. So Salsero tells him to just confide in him. So he tells Dances he tried to force himself on Vikki and that they are going thru a fake reconciliation. And that after trying to force himself on Ms Vikki, she rejected him. Dances thinks Ms Vikki will never forgive what he did and to just give her up already! So Dances tells FF to go have some studly fun with Kendho. She's up for it! So then FF has to confess little ff wouldn't come out to play last time he was with Kendho. So Dances tells him to go to a doc already and get the little blue pill. Well now FF has a thought. He really can't break up with Kendho and make his marriage work, cause then Kendho will know he left her cause the little furry one wouldnt' come out to play and ya know she'd make a laughing stock of him, my words, not his. So he doesn't feel this is his age, he just can't get it up with her, and he's a macho and this can't be happenin' to him, doncha know. When he breaks up with a woman he wants to hold his head high, he is sooo macho, can I hurl now? So Dances thinks the boss man is right. Now the FF wants to know why he can get it up for Ms Vikki but can't for Kendho??? So Dances gives FF some advice, stop feeling guilty and he'll be able to get some outside the marriage. So FF is so happy bout that, and they go to the office. Dances has a sh*t eating grin on his face, behind the FF's back!

Satin Sheets to Lie On:

So Kendho is having a little anxiety attack. She just can't be losing the FF'er. He can't even have the little furry one come out to play. What if the F'er and Vikki made it up. It would so ruin her mis planes doncha know!!!!

The Soccer Game and Head Games, Always you and me baby, Head Games:

So Betty and Imperia, Dances' madrina, are at Guillo's soccer game. There is a guy in the stands that is kinda stalkerish and is lookin' to see what Imperia and Betty are doing. So Betty gets a text from her boy toy Santino that says:

Good morning, beautiful, went to bed dreaming of you, woke up with your name on my lips, it will be awhile till I see you and good luck to Guillo with his soccer game, love you, Santino. Awwwww!!!!

Guillo is doing ok, but the team isn't winning, Maybe in the second half. Imperia tells Betty since Santino met her, he is a changed man. She knows Guillo isn't crazy for him now, but he will be. Betty is happy and then they  cheer Guillo on. So the stalker guy is a friend of the low horrid one of course, cause he's called the low one to tell him who Betty is with, he says some old witch and that Betty is there too. So more cheering from Betty and Imperia. So the game is still tied and they are still cheering Guillo on. So Guillo get the goal and the team wins and some of his teammates pick him up as well as the coach. Everyone runs on the field to meet up with the teams and the stalker guy kinda follows Betty and Imperia. He walks by them. So Betty gives Guillo a hug and then here comes the lowly one of course. Betty ain't so happy to see him there. leo the low is coming on the field and greets Guillo. So leo wants to talk to Betty but she wants him to go. Guillo asks why Mama doesn't want to talk to papa. So Imperia takes Guillo off for ice cream so they can talk. He says he's there to ask her forgiveness, he went about things the wrong way and he is agreeing to the divorce. I think Betty actually beleives him, while we on the Patio know he is up to no good. So Betty doesn't quite believe him, but he says he is willing to give her the divorce but they have some things to go over, like Guillo's needs. Yesterday, when he had that little talk with Betty's friend he realized how much he would miss his boy and he'd like to work out vacations, custody in other words. He says he realizes if things are not gonna work out and she isn't coming back to him then they should get legally separated. Are we buying this??? I'm not. Well, she wants to contact her lawyer to set his all up, but he tells her not to bother, will work this out themselves, will give her the divorce and why not file today??? Betty is very gracious and tells him he can have Guillo anytime he wants to. So leo wants he to get in his car with Betty and go to the court to file now. What was that Oprah said about not going with a creep to another location? So she agrees but goes to have Imperia watch Guillo while she is gone. In the meantime, the stalker guy passes by leo and he tells him to follow Imperia and Guillo and see where they go.

The Payment Agreement:

Guzmi comes into the sitting room and gives Ms Vikki the payment agreement in which he plans to pay back Ms Vikki for the loan. She thinks the payments are too high. He won't have money to live on. Guzmi tells her not to worry bout that. He'll think of something and besides he signed promissory notes for each payment. Ms Vikki says it's so unnecessary, but Guzmi is firm. Ms Vikki asks after Guzmi's Papa and he says he is getting better. He asks if he can give the check to Felipe and she says he can, and he goes. Ms Vikki so feels for him and is impressed with him! So now Tomi comes in with cafecitos and wants to know how things went with FF last night. So Tomi has a seat as they chisme. Ms Vikki can't stand the FF'er in her room, but it's for a good cause and she don't wanna talk about it. So what did the Angel say about this fake reconcilation. Oh Angel knows Ms Vikki talked to him and you wouldn't beleive what happened last night! Tomi is all ears. Ms Vikki tells her about catching the Angel in her sanctum sanctorium and reading her book, ya know the one about the woman and the bodyguard!Tomi wants to know what he thought? Ms Vikki said she made it clear to the Angel it was based on that movie ya know??? Ms Vikki tells Tomi that Angel loved the book. Tomi starts to giggle and says she can just imagine. Ms Vikki doesn't like her imagining things and tells Tomi to cut it out already. Tomi just laughs!

The Landing of Doom:

It's not what your thinking. Tomi is up there with Ms Vikki talking about how Anyballs hasn't left yet and Adri is gonna be there real soon, and she doesn't want them fighting like the other day! Tomi is sure Adri will arrive soon and be all anxious cause that exhumation is only a couple hours away! Ms Vikki agrees with her and speak of the devil, here he comes, ole Anyballs. Ms Vikki wants to know if he is going to the office. He wants to know if she is going too, but she ain't has to take care of some things outside the office. Well, he'll go now, have a great day and he goes. So Anyballs makes a detour to get a new box of cigars for the office and Ms Vikki is going downstairs to wait for Adri and she goes.

You Don't Send Me Flowers Anymore:

So Polita is letting PauToo in, cause she's there to give Nikki her piano lesson. Polita says she'll let Nikki know PauToo is there. So PauToo is saying ah, Francisco my son, she'd really like to see him,. when in comes Anyballs wanting to know, say it with my y'all, Que Haces Aqui???? He's grabbed her, like tryin' to strong arm her right out the door, when she yells, that tired ole TN phrase, Sueltame! She isn't there for him, doncha know, she is working here. As his granddaughter Nikki's piano teacher!!!! Dun, Dun, Dun!!!! And here is where we end this epi!

Avances:

The exhumation begins, lots of drama.

It doesn't go well between Betty and leo.

Good Morning Y'all I am simmering this recap, low and slow, so you can good a good laugh when I'm done : )

OOOps, sorry for the typo, I meant get a good laugh, lol.

Looking forward to the recap Madelaine.

Last night's episode had me down for the first part with Guzmancito, Nikki, and Elvis (Roy), but the note which Victoria wrote to Nikki was without a doubt heartwarming, I actually teared up a bit. If only her mother could write letters like that everyday to her, coincidentally before she has an incident.

The part with Victoria and Arriaga was too funny, it was nice to have some comedy for a bit.

A little annoyed with Guzman's dad Felipe with the whole gambling and putting Guzman in debt, but at least it kept him from leaving Nikki. Though I'm glad Guzman stood up to his dad about his gambling addiction, it was a little harsh the things he said. Felt a teensy bit of sympathy for his dad.

Team Nikki/Guzmancito <3

I think the producer of this TN is Mejia in disguise, it is so contrived.

I find it only 2 steps up from FELS.
Unfortunately it comes on between 2 good ones, Por Ella & Amor Bravio.

Buuuut it does make for great recaps.

Can't understand how it got 4 stars
TV y Novelas.

Aside from the awfully slow pace and some badly directed scenes, I say it's really good: intriguing characters (thanks to the Argentinian writers), great actors, nice music, pretty locations. Oh, and Erika's wardrobe is the best ever.

I find AV far more likeable and interesting than the Destilando amor/Manana es para siempre/Soy tu duena trio.
Though all four of them are circos. And all of them are slower than a snail.

Variopinta---Maybe it's because I'm an easy going gringo but I love
Amores Verdaderos. I have seen about ten novelas and have liked them all. I don't know, maybe it's the scenery, the culture, the story
lines the clothing or a combination of all of these things
but I have found them all very enjoyable and this one is no different. I can't wait each weekday night to turn it on to see what will be happening next. Maybe I'm easy to please but I vote a BIG
YES for Amores Verdaderos.
the gringo

I was appalled that Guzman is going to bail his father out yet again. Where is my lanza Nerfazos..... Felipe's gambling addiction is a money pit, and Guzman should have stopped giving him money years ago.

I don't think this is a Meh-jía production in disguise, because it has not reached complete circo levels. Well, okay.... yet.

The one positive thing AV is doing for me is that it is turning me into a E. Yañez fan.

Aribeth and Gringo,

For me I think the charm of this show lies with the smiles. They have put together some of the best smilers ever for this show. Of course for me that almost naughty almost narcotizing smile of Nikki is the most affecting.

José Ángel has a smile that might very well have that same effct on ladies. However I can't think of a single character in this TN who has a smile that I don't look forward to... even Nelson and Balzac.

Carlos

doris:
Welcome to the club. :) The big guy isn't the best actor ever, but he has the "it" factor. And one of the best smiles in the industry.

Carlos:
Don't worry, Balzac isn't a smiley person. That dog has a permanent "f*** you all" expression on his face. *I love him.*

Guillermo has a nice smile... But Nelson? No, not really.

Am likin' this novela a lot not just because of Rulli and the Big Guy. It's a little different than the others I've seen. It's more character driven than event driven since not much has happened since the dramatic kidnappings in the beginning. Except for Salsa Dude's on the road to redemption. And I don't know how they'll resolve the Chrissie/Vikki/Angel triangle. Besides AB is taxing enough for my brain.

Thanks to Madelaine and all the recappers for their talent and all the fun and laughs.

GinCA

Sorry, that wasn't 4 stars for AV, it was for Corona de lagrimas, which is beyond ridiculous. AV wasn't in there. I only see lagrimas while waiting for Por Ella, & EVERY time Victoria Ruffo is crying.

I'm not watching religiously - hubby is more the fan. But I have to say Yañez's character Angel is amazing - so fun and joyful and childlike, but still very straight-arrow mature in so many ways. It amazes me that a 51 year old man can bring this fresh, childlike, uncomplicated quality to the screen, larger than life even. Wasn't a fan before, but this personaje is irresistible. Kudos to Yañez!

Carlos---You're right about the smiles. There have been some really great ones in this tn and I kinda get the feeling that there will be a lot more as the story begins to wind down.
the gringo

Ok, y'all I am working on the recap now and hope to have it up by this evening, early morning. Thanks for all the great comments so far : )

Mads:

Thank you soooooo much. Fabulous job, as always. You gave us such a fun read and managed to hold our hands through the gloomy, scary stuff.

I had no idea the writers were keeping such close tabs on their characters' behavior. Now I feel bad about getting Kendra in trouble with the writers after I went public with her letter. (snort).

Salsero shows himself to be surprisingly insightful in his advice to Nelson. First he tells him to "andar con pies de plomo" -- to tread cautiously, slowly -- with Vikki since she has not yet forgiven him for his infidelity. Then he astutely attributes his failure with Kendra to his guilt.

Of course part three of his advice -- drop the guilt and you'll be your old studly self again -- is easier said than done and may need a bit of pharmaceutical intervention. I could see Nelson getting the drug without a medical work-up -- maybe forcing healthy Salsero to play ED man so he won't have to admit his little problem -- and ending up having a serious reaction because of an undiagnosed heart condition. (Or is that just wishful thinking?)

I was so glad you included Salsero's SEG (behind Nelson's back, of course) as he pretended to listen sympathetically to Nelson's "problem" -- what cracked me up was how quickly he removed all traces of amusement when Nelson turned around to face him: he was all solemn sympathy.

Nerfazos were flying at my screen when Beatriz agreed to get in a car with Leo. What is she, Little Red Riding Hood? I thought you were smarter than that, Bea! Maybe this incident is what Guillo needs to show him who his father really is. And maybe the rescue of Bea and Guillo (cause they have to get rescued, right?) will indeed end up over Leo's dead body.

One tiny clarification: Felipe owes 200 thousand pesos (dosciento mil) or about $15,700 US dollars. The staff collect 3,000 pesos ($3000) or about $235 US dollars.

Tomorrow night should be a doozy of a show, don't you think? What's everyone wearing to the Exhumation Party? And the After Party?

Madelaine - Fabulous. Love all the song title headings. Thanks for all the details.

Felipe is a mess, but I still like him. Couldn't believe when he said something like "Son, I got myself into this mess and I'll get myself out of it." Oh, really? Is that why you visited Guzman with a eggplant face? You knew full well your son was going to rescue your butt yet again.

Salsero "counseling" Nelson on his macho was a hoot. Agree about the smiles on this TN. So funny when Salsero was smiling behind Nelson's back.

Bea should've known better than to go off alone with Leo. As Cris would say, Bea must've been lacking her vitamins.

Madelaine- Wonderful, fun recap. Thanks amiga.

This episode was a mix of tender moments (like the letter to Nikki, which was wonderful) and fun scenes.

Variopinta- The key to watching this tn is to not take any of it seriously. Well, except for the Bea storyline, which is directed and acted with great skill, almost making it feel like it belongs in another tn. The rest of the storylines are just over the top, without being driven by much plot. But the actors make it great fun.

I am very worried for Bea. What was she thinking?!

Nelson has been insisting to Vikki that the solution to the Nikki problem is for Nikki to get married...he seems to have someone in mind though I don't think that he has mentioned a name. Is Roy perhaps Neli's magical marido or does he have someone entirely new and different in mind? Roy seems a bit lightweight even by Nelson's standards.

Carlos

Thanks, Mads, for giving us a mile of smiley moments reading your recap--Que mujer!!

200 million, 200 thousand, makes no diff, Guzmi's life belongs to Vikk now. How did we not know he'd have to stick around and suffer being close to Nikk--and Nikk just lovin' sticking it to him. Poor deluded girl.

Arriaga dropping the manuscript and stalling for an answer was too cute, so was his charge of the light brigade up the stairs. Bet he couldn't wait to write it all down in his diary!

Doris--Meta*Mart can ship you overnight a box of 12 Nerfazos, in various bright de mode colors, lime green is a big seller right now. They can be in your hands by 9:00 pm Monday.

As for the writers--Mads, you've got what it takes to get them to respond. Please keep it up, we need an intermediary with those clowns, er monkeys, er salaried folks. Please tell them that little blue pills, hos and weak hearts were already tried over on Amor Bravio. It was funny, but spare us, please.

NovelaM--Exhumation Party Attire. I think I'm gonna run right out and get me some red pants and high-topped sneakers. Not sure what top to wear, I have so many choices of T-shirt. (Now that I see Carlos' oyster, maybe I'll spring for a new one that says The Peeps Patio World is My Oyster.) I am going to have my hair done, though, Elvis-style. I'm going to wear my favorite feather earrings from El Tal.

The After Party will probably involve crying in my Baileys.

Good Afternoon Y'all and thanks for so many great comments and your patience for this recap.

Victoria: I too thought the part with Angel and Vikki was so funny. They are a hoot. Also loved the letter that Ms Vikki gave Nikki so sweet. They have such a good relationship.

Variopinta: This TN is really comedic in a lot of ways. I think that's why we like it so much. It does have the serious storylines of spousal abuse and bulimia, but it's not a deep thinking TN.

OT: Do you know the next TN's are both Mejia TN's. The one replacing AB when it ends and also the one replacing Amores when it ends. I look forward to them cause they always have beautiful scenery and music. It can't be all bad ; )

Aribeth: Agree with what you said about the trio you mentioned. They were slow, but this one is moving much better.

To all of you about EY: I think he is great, so funny, and so emotional. I love the expressions on his face, and also that mega watt smile and the sexiness he just oozes, jus sayin'. Have you seen him cry? He is the best male crier I have ever seen. It makes you want to cry with him.

GinCA: you hit the nail on the head with this TN. It is a light frothy type of thing, not taxing at all and so much fun to boot!

Audrey: Glad to see you here. Glad Mr Audrey is a fan : ) Glad you are starting to like EY : )

NovelaMaven: You didn't get Kendrita in trouble she did that all by herself, snort! The writers so enjoy your little letters also. They love the advice you give the characters. Thanks about the numbers too. I fixed the recap. I always get confused with the mil and thousand part when it comes to pesos. Now lire I can deal with : )

Doris: Yes, welcome to the club for EY : )

Carlos: You like Nikki's smile don't you??? And Balzac is just too cute : )

Neice: so true about Felipe, I feel bad for him, but he did get himself into this mess and poor Guzmi has to always pick up the pieces. I am really hoping this is the last time that Felipe does this and the last time poor Guzmi saves his bacon. Agree with you too about what Cris would say to Betty about the Vitamins, lol.

Vivi: I so agree with you about Betty and I'm really worried for her. I wish she had called Guzmi to let him know she was going with him, or maybe Santino, but I think Imperia is gonna know she went off with leo, so I think she may spill the beans.

Carlos: So true about Roy being a light weight. But then again, I don't think FF cares who Nikki marries as long as he marries. I have the feeling he wants to be done with his problem with Nikki.

Anita: Yeah the writers, they are something aren't they, wink, snort? lol. I feel for them, as they have to deal with FF, Anyballs and Kendho all the day long, so to speak, lol. I love your idea for the exhumation party shirts , the Peeps Patio World is my Oyster, lol. I'll take one too.

Do anyone else notice that Leo was trying to keep from laughing when he was talking to Beatriz? I noticed a couple of time and he even let a little laughter slip one time when he was talking to her. Also, I think Beatriz should have told him that she would meet him there instead of getting into a car with him. What was she thinking? This guy spent years beating the crap out of her and can barely have a conversation with her that he's not grabbing her by the hair like he did the last time they talked. She should have known better than to trust riding along with him, or for that matter being alone with him at all.

Madelaine - Thank you for the awesome recap! Now I cannot get the Allman Brothers out of my head .

I think Nikki is really a little grossed out by ole Roy and that she's going along with him just to get even (silly twit!) with Guzman after Kendra (evil twit!) poisoned her mind.

Anita, I'll take six of the lime green Lanza Nerfazos, and six of the bubble-gum pink ones. I want the preppy colors in honor of Nikki and Roy. Que fresas!

HHhmmm… what does one wear to an exhumation party on the patio? Long saggy drapey over-skirts like Adriana's, that can be easily removed have mini-skirts under them, in case the tomb is empty?

The eternal struggle of good and evil as seen in literature through the ages. In this novela, rather than good vs. evil, I see the results of good people who are trying to mind their own business affected by bad or troubled people in their lives. Each ''good'' character has been saddled with at least one person who does nothing but make life difficult for him or her by dropping their own problems at their feet...Vikki has Fluffy and Nikki...Angel has crazy Cris...Bea has the horrible Leo...poor Guzzy has a whole bunch of problem people in his life [Paula, Felipe, Leo [via Bea], messed up Nikki]. Just like the stories passed down to us ...the ant who worked hard saddled with the grasshopper who played all summer then needed the ant's help when winter's winds howled...the hardworking, brickbuilding piggy who had to save his two lazy brothers who built shodded homes of twigs and straw and needed saving from the big, bad wolf.

britishcomedyfan: I have noticed that *leo the low* does smile a bit, sort of snarkily, when he talks to our Betty. I wonder if the actor sometimes has trouble keeping a straight face! There is an awful lot of adlibbing going on in this TN.

Doris: I know I am bad for all the earworms I keep giving y'all, lol. I am just so musically inclined, can't help it : ) I agree with you about Roy, Nikki is so NOT into him, you could tell when she was on that landing. I don't like him, he seems a little to eager for my taste, and marriage already???? Please dude!!!!

Gringo: I agree with you about the smiles, I think by the end of this TN there will be lots more.

susanlynn: Sending you many good thoughts. I agree with your analogy. Are you a fan of Once Upon a Time? That is an awesome show. I really like your Aesop's fable analogy with the hard working ant and the fiddling grasshopper. I feel really sorry for Guzmi though. He seems to have the most people hanging on to him to save them. Betty I feel so bad for cause the poor thing doesn't have a clue sometimes. I think she may have not told Guzmi cause she wants to handle things on her own, with no help. IMHO.

Time to register a complaint about Turco.

Are you out of your mind? You don't extend credit to a boob like Felipe so he can keep losing in a poker game and then have your boys beat him senseless because he can't pay up immediately. Where did you go to loanshark school?

He should have had at least three days.

¡Por favor!

Carlos

"Where did you go to loanshark school? "

He attended the Marquis de Sade Academy in Paris. The Academy has also furnished various wardrobe items for Kendra. Or so I have heard.

NovelaMaven,

But surely not the Kozy Kitty outfit?
Heck, I was almost ready to sign up for a counseling session with with Doctora Kendra Kitten.

Carlos

Carlos,

You are right. The Kozy Kitty outfit was custom-designed for a dictionary of regionalisms. You will find it under C:

tiene cola que le pisen

Madelaine---Thank you, great recap.
I had many things to say but I'm very tired and my mind is all mixed up but again---your recap was excellent.
Letter from PETA. LOL
Lord I was born a gambling man--you sure hit that right.

Thanks NovelaMaven for the dollar amount of $15,700
Marquis de Sade Academy--LOL

Vicky wrote a nice letter to her daughter--that was so sweet.

Carlos---I too thought that Roy was a light weight. Just another spoiled immature rich kid------
I knew that you had your eyes on Pussy Galore the other night. Now you admit it. Nikki will be hurt.

I am almost afraid to watch tomorrow--Bea is in danger.
the gringo

Madelaine: Once again, you have taken the sting out of Monday morning by bringing sunshine and light into our lives! This was fresh and sparkling - gracias, amiga.

Loved the captions: "It's Too Late To 'Pologize, It's Too Late", "Lord I Was Born a Gambling Man" as well as many clever lines including "What was that Oprah said about not going with a creep to another location?" (oh so true) and "Ayi carrumba! I dropped the papers all over the place and I swear if I wasn't in such good shape I would have had an infarto, jus'sayin'". Excellent!

How do you solve a problem like Felipe? The man just doesn't seem to learn his lesson. I'm not even sure that being beaten to a pulp will deter him from gambling further. A 12 stop program is a must.

The actor who plays Roy has been great in other parts but as Carlos and gringo noted too "lite" for Nikki. She needs a more mature, "manly man". Another little snot. Sigh...

Loved the Angel reading Vikki's novel. GinCA and Audrey noted that Yanez' boyish and real here. His best work yet (though we love him in everything don't we Airbeth!)

Susanlynn: "Each ''good'' character has been saddled with at least one person who does nothing but make life difficult for him or her by dropping their own problems at their feet..." insightful and thoughtful comment. Thank you...

And Leo? I can only hope you are right Novela Maven: "And maybe the rescue of Bea and Guillo (cause they have to get rescued, right?) will indeed end up over Leo's dead body". I did love Bea and Imperia cheering Guillo on at the game. Imperia seems to be turning the tide for Guillo to accept Salsero. Let's hope he has the chance.

Madelaine, thank you so much!

Diana

Carlos: I hear the Soprano school of loan sharking was full, with a waiting list to boot and the Corleone school of loan sharking has moved to parts unknown. And your right, Tony and Michael wouldn't have beaten him to a pulp immediately. They would have given him a week at least before they sent Chrisatpha or Luca to pay Felipe a visit, lol.

Gringo: I too worry for Betty, I didn't like the avances with her and Leo!

Diana: I really like Yanez's charm here. I have seen him in CS 09, Destilando Amor, and La Verdad Oculta. He is like a big teddy bear and I was surprised by his comedic chops here. He is so funny. I too loved him reading Ms Vikki's book, and he was so genuine with the facial expressions and his goofy grin. Throughout this TN his expressions have been so great. He impressed me in the above TN's he was in, cause this guy can cry. I have never seen an actor that can cry like him. I've seen WL do it, but he isn't as good, jus' sayin'!

Just a heads up. Amores won't be on this Friday, due to the two hour finale of Por Ella Soy Eva, sigh! We'll be in Angel withdrawl until Monday!

Madelaine - Thank you for the alert. I'll be having AV withdrawals. Time to catch up on the other stuff on our DVR...

Madelaine - Thanks for the alert. Also, hope you get a chance to check out Fuego in La Sangre (2008). That was my first EY telenovela and I've been a fan ever since.

After watching Friday’s episode again, I’m over being annoyed at Roy. The second time around I find Roy kind of funny and cute. He does have a hidden agenda. His tennis career is hot, but he decided to return home just to be close to Nikki? Please.

AV isn’t a stickler for tying up loose ends, but I’m wondering if that cake is still under Nikki’s bed. Come to think of it, Polita with her broom and vacuum cleaner should’ve been the first one to figure out Nikki had an eating disorder.

Neice: You are so right about that cake! Why didn't Polita find it? But ya know, besides Guzmi knowing that Nikki had that eating disorder, Tomi should have had a clue too. Remember when she came into Nikki's room one morning and cleaned up all those chocolate wrappers all bunched up? Tomi should have gone to Ms Vikki and said something.

Neice: I have FELS on dvd, I've had it for awhile, but haven't watched it yet. I was so hoping that they would release La Verdad Oculta on DVD. I was hoping that maybe they would repeat FELS in its entirity, but that hasn't happened yet. I think I might look for it on Youtube or maybed Uni's video site has it : )

Niecie and Madelaine:

Destilando Amor is a must for EY fans. It was my "first" although I only discovered it halfway through. Hub had been watching to try and hone his skills but I wasn't interested. Or so I thought. Then, one fateful day, I walked by and Eduardo was on the screen. That was it. I was hooked - to telenovas AND to him. He has never disappointed me! LVO was my second favorite (next to this), and I enjoyed all of them...

Diana

Whoa, Mads, this means you'll recap episode 95, which is one of my favouries so far. :)

Diana - Saw DA when they re-aired it last year (?) at 1 AM or something. I was hooked on it after the first day.

Thinking about Felipe, too much. Surely the only way up for him is Gamblers Anonymous. Maybe deep down he sees the beatdowns simply as an occupational hazard he can endure a few times a year.

Aribeth: Actually Elvira gets number 95 : ) Can't wait until she recaps that one. It will be loads of fun, don't want to give anything away.

Diana: My first was CS 09. I remember I was sick and channel surfing and accidently clicked on Uni and wow, here was the awesomely handsome pirate with the long flowing locks and sexiness just oozing from every pore. Since I speak Italian, I caught every other word and I was hooked. I stayed with it even when they moved it to late night. I bought the DVD afterwards and was disappointed by the cuts they made. But I have to say I really enjoyed it.

Neice: I too watched DA in late night. As soon as I knew EY was in that one, I wanted to watch. I loved him yelling GAVIOTA!!! constantly and also his interaction with Meester James, too funny. I loved the romance in that one and wanted to knock Isa out with a nerf bat, lol. And I couldn't look away everytime Sergio Sendel threw those cellphones or any phone for that matter, lol. My other favorite characters were Danny and Elvis. That Elvis what a hunk, jus' sayin'.

Oops. Well, there's a reason why I became a lawyer instead of a mathematician. :)

I missed LVO. I had seen Big Ed on American shows , but I the first telenovela I watched him in was DA. On Youtube, I watched parts of an early novela that he was in with Adela Noriego....very hot those two together. I can't remember the name. Well, it's nice to be here. It's been a very weird day. 1] I couldn't get the combination lock to work on my office, so I had to call maintenance from my boss's office. 2] My boss gave me more doom and gloom...our secretary of 15 years is disgusted by no raise and a cut in her hours , so she's leaving. We will be lost. The ESL program might crash now. My boss has been telling me this for the 7 years. 3] I started my 9.30 class by announcing the start of my bad day, and....the lights went out. I told my students that it was probably my fault somehow. I found out that the whole college had lost power, and then I asked myself ''What would Miss Vikki do in this situation????'' The road in front of the college is being worked on , and while digging, someone hit a major electric line. Walked up 3 flights to find a room with windows. Walked down the 3 flights again to collect my class. Walked up 3 flights with my class. Taught subject/verb agreement, count/noncount nouns for an hour before an announcement was made to close the college. 4] Sat for half an hour in a long line of cars exiting the campus. Now...Here I am.

p.s. I could really use a piece of cake right now.

I too started with DA. I was flipping channels and came upon EY. I was hooked. I have seen everything else he has done with the exception of La Verdad Oculta. Does anyone know if Elvis has been in anything else? Dani is in Amore Bravio.

There is something kind of fishy about Roy. What was Bea thinking? Does Guzmi have a "kick me" sign on his back?

I love all the recappers. Such amazing talent. I'll bet you all could come up with some great TN's on your own!

Susanlynn: so sorry you are having a bad day. Hope you are getting some laughs here. I liked your quip about what would Ms Vikki do? I find myself saying that from time to time too : ) Que Esa Mujer, jus' sayin'. I am gonna send you a virtual cake with lots of fondant and chocolate buttercream filling : )

Teresita: Thank you so much. I bet Aribeth, Elvira, NovelaMaven, Marta and I could get together and write a rip roaring comedy starring EY, Elvis, Rulli, Marcelo Cordoba (I think he has the chops), FC, and the guy that plays leo the low (believe it or not, I think he has it in him) : )

OT: Does anyone watch Hoy during the day? They are having a hoot of a TN they do on Fridays. It is a mixture of Pasion, Amor Real, and another one. It is a hoot, the hosts all are in it. It makes my Friday : )

Aribeth: A lawyer! That is great. That explains all your great reasoning in your comments. What type of law do your practise, if you don't mind my asking?

Teresita~~~If I am thinking correctly, the guy who played Elvis in DA was a loyal servant in Alborada , my favorite novela. He was great in that role. Madelaine ~~~Thanks for the virtual cake.

My EY story (which was told by me too many times already):
1992 (IIRC), Yo compro esa mujer: I liked it.
2003, Yo compro esa mujer again: I loved the story, the characters and the actors, but I wasn't impressed by the big guy that much.
2008: I started to watch FELS because of Adela "Bambi" Noriega. I knew "that guy from Yo compro" was the male lead, but again, I wasn't impressed by the promos and I thought he became ugly. However, after 6-12 episodes I had to eat my words because I became an EY fan.

***

Madelaine: in the end I became a tax lawyer, and I like it. But I would never ever go near to a courtroom, I'm a typical office worker. :)

Aribeth: A tax lawyer, wow. I am in awe. That's alot of hard work.

Teresita/Susanlynn: think Elvis also was in Cuidado con el ángel as a thief who was murdered by William Levy's cheating wife with whom he was having an affair (last seen as Begonia). He is very handsome.

Aribeth, you are a woman of many accomplishments!

Diana

Susanlynn: Heaping hugs on you for dealing with your bad day. Forget Ms. Vikki. I'll now ask what would Susanlynn do? Note it, accept it and use wonderful humor to get through it!

Diana

Elvis was in Un Gancho al Corazon as a hot luchador and old flame of Ana Martin.

I get that Guzmi was stuck and felt like he had to bail out his dad to keep him alive, but why is it Guzman's responsibility to pay Vicky back? He should insist that Felipe take some sort of work that will keep him very busy and away from the gambling lowlifes, and that his pay go directly to Vicky so Felipe never sees the money. Maybe he should work as some sort of general labor at the Balvanera mansion and be strictly forbidden to leave the grounds and have to wear an ankle bracelet. Those would be MY terms for saving him. Guzmi is too nice for his own good.

Sebastian Rulli is growing on me. I didn't used to like him much, but he's doing a very believable job of emoting without going too far, and getting me to sympathize with the character even when I don't approve of what Guzmi is doing.

I still don't see the appeal of Eduardo Yañez...please don't throw Nerfazos at me.

Julia - Guzmi paying Vikki back is part of his co-dependent/dysfunctional family stuff. Add that to his attraction to Nikki and all her dysfunctional stuff, he is one sick puppy. But they're both very good-looking so fun to watch. (yes, I can be shallow. LOL)

My first EY telenovela was Te Amaré en Silencio. He was thinner then, and not all filled out like now. Next came FELS, where he was just too "jethro clampett" for me, not to mention the complete ciro that FELS was. I couldn't get into the character or him. JoseAngel in AV is winning me over.

I really, really wish I had watched LVO. ~sobs~ Y'all don't know how much I regret that I didn't try to keep up with it. Maybe Uni will re-broadcast it. Soon.

Madelaine - Thanks for the heads-up re: Hoy on Fridays. I'll record it and watch for their in-house telenovela. ;o) The one that was always on 'Ugly Betty's' television was a scream.

I'm going to have to start recording Hoy on Fridays. That sounds hilarious. Raul Araiza is still on it, right? I love him.

Julia: Yes, he's still on Hoy with Gailea, Andrea, and they guy that played Patricio in DA. They are a laugh riot I must say : )

I've been meaning to ask, ever since Hoy came to the U.S.-- how do they film it? They film the show in Mexico, for a Mexican audience, and so the content includes recaps of and info on telenovelas currently on in Mexico, and interviews with the stars. But then there are segments specifically for the U.S. show/audience, and we are months behind Mexico tn-wise. How do they do it?

Do they just paste in segments they filmed back when those shows were airing in Mexico, or are they putting in telenovela-related stuff that is newly filmed? I only watch when I am both home sick and awake and bored, so I hardly ever see it.

Julia- That's also when I watch, and also days when I'm home focused on writing proposals.

They are wearing the same clothes as they are for the rest of the show, so I don't think they are pasting. Plus, they mention what time and channel (Uni) you can watch. So it's current filming. It must drive them a little batty if they have to pretend to be excited about something happening in Amores Verdaderos in the U.S., which they had to pretend to be excited about two months ago for the Mexican audience, then turn around and do a segment for the Mexican audience that jumps all the way to the end of the tn. So confusing!

Honestly, I think it would be much easier to act excited about a telenovela which already aired months ago than to act even remotely interested in the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, which is what I'm currently delving into at work.
