Amores Verdaderos #82 Wed 3/6/13 Jersey Shore Star Snooki loses 42 lbs post-baby! (At least someone is happy, no?)

They keep vigil over Aníbal, the fallen alpha male: some truly want him to live; some hope he survives just long enough to tell his secrets or to hear and forgive their own sins; still others are already counting his money and imagining just a taste of his power.

[I took a lot of liberties with the order of events this evening.  It was, alas, another dark night of the soul for steadfast fans of True Love.]

In the hospital
Adriana spews her hatred and frustration but then allows herself to be gentled by her sister, Victoria.

Arriaga catches sight of Paula and tries to hustle her out before Victoria sees her. Paula shows her claws:  Why is he so anxious to protect Vikki?  He acts more like a lover than a bodyguard.

Adriana overhears this and is so outraged at the insult to her sister, that she runs at Paula, they scuffle, and Arriaga has to pull them apart.  Paula runs away. But not before she draws blood by taunting Adriana: she KNOWS what happened to her daughter and now she'll never tell.
[Actually Adriana knows as much as Paula at this point.  Only the Patio gang and Opalina know about the call of blood, the transmigration of souls -- you know, all the good stuff that leads to Lili Luci.]

Paula eludes Adriana's pursuit, gets a nurse to supply her with a gown and mask, and sneaks into Aníbal's room.  She can't let him die without knowing the truth:  he has a third daughter ...

Meanwhile, the doctor is talking to the family out in the waiting room.  Aníbal's condition is grave but, for the moment, stable. He can have brief visits, one at a time. Vikki rejects Nelson's offer to go with her and asks for Arriaga instead.  He precedes her, looks into Anibal's room, and sees that soggy Paula has somehow found her way to his bedside.  Arriaga distracts Vikki by feigning an attack of the vapors -- he needs sugar, he thinks and she goes running for a soda -- and then he rushes back to Aníbal's room in time to interrupt Paula's revelation:  Aníbal's third daughter is ... is ...

She won't leave, she won't shut up, and she won't spit out the name!  Aníbal is conscious -- he stares right at Arriaga and at Paula. He looks like he's having another heart attack!
[And so does everyone else on the Patio:  Use that big mouth for good, PaulaToo!  Advance the plot, already!  Let Aníbal and Arriaga know about Cristina!].

Arriaga triggers an alarm, Paula slips out, and a medical team comes running to the room. [Because this is a private hospital and Aníbal is a Very Rich Patient.]

Arriaga promises Paula he'll keep her informed but she needs to get the hell out right now!

Vikki passes masked and gowned Paula on her way back to Arriaga with his sweet drink.  Why are all the doctors in Aníbal's room?  What's going on with her father?

The Heiress
Nikki has recovered from her swoon though she is as snotty as ever to Guzmán.  He wanted to leave?  So leave.  The Z-man can take over.

Sadly she is sheltered from sharing her family's real sorrow: this twenty-year-old woman is not permitted to go to the hospital where her beloved grandfather may be dying.  [And they wonder why she is so immature.]

Her consolation prize -- [Drumroll please!] -- No Need to be Coy Roy -- the twit who can't keep the smirk out of his sympathy and nearly hoots with glee when he overhears Jean Marie and Polita talking about Nikki's prospects when the old man dies. Nikki cringes when Roy touches her but she keeps the farce going.  He seems to be on an omega-3 kick (or maybe he's just worried about his figure) since he demands salmon again, this time with mustard sauce.  (Is that boy wearing sneakers with wedges?) Nikki looks at him with the same expression she gets after binging on 17 chocolate bars.  Blech.
[The Patio has never needed barf bags before but for Roy's tenure on the show, we may have to stock them.]

The House of Roy
In case anyone needed to hear it from the horse's mouth: Roy is a fraud.  He is a wash-out as a tennis player, an undisciplined loser.  His father wouldn't be willing to spend another peso on his tennis career -- if he had another peso to spend.  But that is neither here nor there. They are bankrupt!  The family will lose everything unless Roy marries a cash cow.  That is why he came home so abruptly:  Nicole Brizz -- can you say "moo" for the nice people?  Roy's mother, Vikki's friend Doris, is not on board with this "marriage of convenience".  Will she stand by silently and watch her spoiled son exploit her best friend's daughter?

Oh God. He really did it.
I was hoping that Beatriz would stop him at the last moment -- a sharp tool would be left within reach, or she'd pick up a knife, or find something to bludgeon him with.  But no.  It is now morning in hell.  Lorena Bobbitt has not paid a call. And Leo is the happiest sociopath in the world.  He likes Beatriz's idea to have Guillo join them.  They'll be a happy family again.  (Of course she can never go back to work.  She'll stay at home and out of trouble.)  They dress, she covers her bruises as best she can, and they go to a cafeteria where Leo has arranged the rendezvous. Guillo runs happily towards his mom.  He notices her bruises but seems to believe her when she says she fell.  Leo's mother stands sheepishly in the background.  She doesn't seem to quite get what is happening.  She tells her son how the phone kept ringing but, as instructed, she didn't answer it.

She depends on the kindness of a stranger
Bea tries to get Guillo alone by offering to take him to the bathroom.  But Leo jumps in: Men go to the men's room, right, champ?  Bea goes alone to the ladies' room and finally has a stroke of luck.  A woman is standing alone at the sink.  Bea approaches her, tells her she has been kidnapped, asks for pen and paper, and scribbles a phone number and the location of the garage.  She begs the woman to call and say that she is being held at this address.  And tell them not to call the police!

Whew.  Leo is lurking in the doorway of the ladies' room just as the woman leaves.  He knows Bea is up to something and he is mad.  He hustles Bea back to the garage and sends Guillo off with his mother.

Yes! There is still some light in this dark dark world
Guzmán, Salsero, Lili, and Cris huddle together in the Arriaga apartment. What to do? Salsero is about to call in his contacts in the police department when the phone rings: the good samaritan -- the woman in the bathroom -- has come through for Bea and now they know where she is being held.  Salsero and Guzmán rush to the scene.

The Rescue
Leo has a terrifyingly sharp knife -- now he uses it to cut his pizza, now he holds it to Beatriz's throat.   Suddenly the overhead bulb goes out in the garage.  Leo lights a candle.  When he opens the door to check the fuses, he is looking down the barrel of two guns held by our two modern day knights, Francisco and Santino.  Leo somehow grabs Beatriz. He shields himself with her body, the knife held at her neck.  After a gut-wrenching moment or two, when it seems no one is going to come out of this one alive, Guzmán manages to talk Leo down; he drops his gun, and Leo lowers the knife.  Then the Salsero and Guzmán machine moves at the speed of light!  At last -- Leo is overpowered!  He is out-muscled, and out-smarted.  Unfortunately, he is still breathing.  Beatriz is safe (if not precisely sound).

If you can catch a cold, catch a break, catch a cab, catch a wave. or catch a show, you can surely catch a Furry Fornicator, right?
Odette tells Kendra just what she has to do to trap Nelson:  put a Brizz bun in the Ferretti oven.  Hey, it worked for Odette!  Yeah but Mr. Odette wasn't married at the time, Kendra reminds her.  Odette, however, is convinced that it would be the final nail in the coffin of the already moribund Brizz marriage: Vikki would never stand for the humiliation.

Kendra pretends to balk at first -- she's not happy about losing her figure and giving up her career.  What to do, what to do ... hmmm.  If Kendra doesn't want the job, there are plenty of bimbos in the world who'd jump at the chance, says Odette.  Kendra reconsiders.  (Perhaps she remembers Snooki.) ... Okay.  She'll do it.  But she'll have to be paid double.  [She'll also have to figure out how to eliminate at least one of the F's in the awful eff-ful's name: Failure.]

Another day passes with no word of Balzac!
Estéfano runs a huge missing dog notice, photo and all, in the newspaper.  Where oh where has my little dog gone?

AvancesWe're not done with Leo yet. (Crap!) And after Paula's shocking visit, Anibal's life is hanging by a thread.

NovleaMaven: What a masterpiece amiga, I must say. Loved your whole recap. It was so funny to boot, took the sting out of this epi.

Loved the catfight with Adri and PauToo, it was funny and the Angel right in the middle. He is quick on his feet and PauToo really manhandled the Angel, catching him by the tie and shaking him, too funny. And corraling Ms Vikki away from that hospital room. I was on pins and needles thinking PauToo would have enough time to spill, but no such luck. Boo Hiss

Also Boo Hiss the the low one is still alive. Betty is so smart though, I thought it was good she gave that info to the woman in the bathroom. Good for her, and good the woman called Salsero and they rescued Betty. I get the feeling though that the low one's Mama has seen this type of abuse before, just my own opinion.

Kendho and Odette were funny and I liked your shout out to Snookie and the title of this recap, lol. Yeah, Kendho will have to come up with a way to turn failure into success, lol.

That Roy has got to go already. So now we know his Dad is broke and Doris so doesn't want to go along with this "marriage of convience". Can't stand Roy the Coy, his sneaking around, listening at doors , getting info, he is worse than or soon to be like FF, I can see it coming in his actions. Think Nikki think and don't marry this putz.

So we finally have a Balzac sighting but not in the flesh, where is that little doggie?

Oh, and PauToo, even though I am not the fan of Anyballs, could she have picked a better time to tell him he has another daughter? Really , the guy is in ICU and she just waltzs in there and says, oh, hey by the way you got another daughter, and I just gotta tell you before you kick the bucket, oh please!

NovelaMaven- I agree with Mads that you made a heavy episode feel light with your witty recap.

They really wanted to keep us on the edge of our seats about Bea, didn't they? I just wanted them to be done with the nonsense at the hospital and with Nikki, so that we could get back to the story that counted-- Bea.

Paula has learned NOTHING! She is perfectly willing to let someone suffer over the loss of their child, even when she thinks she has info that could help them. But if it looks like she'll have to face the consequences of her actions, like her son never forgiving her, or Anibal dying before she reveals what she knows, then she gets all weepy and supposedly repentant. I'm not buying it. It's always all about her. She is selfish and self-centered.

If it weren't doing him emotional harm, I would advise Guzman to never let her back into his life.

I think they could have lightened this episode up had they shown Balzac wandering by in the mall food court where Bea and Guillo were, or in the hospital waiting room, with no one noticing him. :)

NovelaMaven,

Leaving to Lurk again but had to tell you that I just love your, "No need to be coy, Roy." Paula definitely needs to find another way to leave her lover - no need to discuss much, make a new plan, slip out the back, get herself free.

Laughed hysterically about Lorena Bobbit. Where is she when we really need her, plying her trade
in her own, precise, inimitable way.

Continue to amuse and impress all of us. Will be enjoying all recaps and comments.

FORGOT TO MENTION:

A humorous moment for me was when Salsero told Leo in dead earnest that "Kidnapping is a very serious crime."

Loved your funny recap NovelaMaven, especially laughed about "soggy Paula." That woman gets on my nerves, as well as Adri. Enough, already!! I hope Paula gets kicked to the curb. She doesn't deserve to get her son back into her life.

The past two nites have been very upsetting between Leo and poor Bea being so tortured like that. He is like a mad man!! They're both doing such a good acting job.

Ann-NYC

NovelaMaven: You waded through the dreck yet managed to find humor, insight and wit to totally captivate us with your story. This was amazing.

You recant the details both grisly: "After a gut-wrenching moment or two, when it seems no one is going to come out of this one alive" and upsetting: "Adriana spews her hatred and frustration" but intersperse such lovely "...allows herself to be gentled by her sister" and funny lines "She won't leave, she won't shut up, and she won't spit out the name" and "Is he waring sneakers with wedges?", we are able to digest the events only as you have made them somewhat paletable and easier to bear.

Thank God Bea thought quickly on her feet and asked the woman for help. But, do we have only momentarily relief she has been rescued? Previews indicate a free for all with Leo's mother pitching in to defend her son. Bea needs to be safe and out of Leo's grasping clutches. Period.

Floridia, thank you for sharing Salsero's take on kidnapping. As much as I am at his table on the patio, maybe this will give him cause to reflect on what he did to Nikki and the torment she went through. The one thing he hasn't shown is remorse and that needs to occur as a step in his redemption.

"Our two modern day knights" are having a hell of a few bad days indeed. Arriaga was getting pummeled yet managed to look so darn adorable despite being hit with many small fists. Loved his feigning illness to deter Vickki from her visit and his desperate attempt to get Paula to leave. I think his only saving grace was that Cris was not on the scene. What a disaster THAT would have been.

Madelaine, loved your comment that Roy is a FF in the making. "sneaking around...". A modern day Gollum.

Vivi, everything you said about Paula is so true! I'm annoyed with myself that I keep holding out hope for her. I think it's because she has two wonderful children. Bea cares so much about her and Francisco can't be whole without her. I can't imagine how this is going to play out.

NovelaMaven, thanks again for a dynamite recap.

Diana

Mads:

What would I do without you in the cheering section? Thank you, as always, for your kind words.

I suspect you are right about the low one's mama -- not only has she seen the abuse before, judging by the previews, she may have taught the low one a dirty trick or two.

Vivi:

I love your idea of showing Balzac wandering through scenes --kind of Hitchcockian cameos, huh? I think they were going for that effect by showing Balzac's photo on the back page of the newspaper Jean Marie was reading. But your idea is MUCH funnier.

Floridia:

So happy to have enticed you out into the open today! What about:

"Just hop on the bus, Guz(mán)"

Of course then I'd have to find a different show to watch. Cuz that would definitely be a deal breaker.

Thanks for picking up on the irony and humor of Salsero's stern "Kidnapping is a very serious crime." I heard it but it blew right past me at the time.

Ann-NYC:

It's nice to hear from you. I didn't realize you were watching.

Hey, I have a question -- for Ann and everyone --

Would Paula be easier to take if the actress playing Gilda (Diana Golden) had the role and the Paula actress played the secretary?

I vote yes. The writing is schmaltzy enough. A less is more kind of acting style would work better and I think "Gilda" could do it.

Hilarious, NovelaMaven.

"Nicole Brizz -- can you say "moo"...?"

Too funny.

Did anyone notice (Vivi?) that Roy's dad is Nelson (Dinero)?

This guy can really bring funny as well.

Lots of folks to be annoyed with last night...Adriana, Paula, Leo, Leo's mom, Roy, Roy's dad...on the other hand, Odette was cute but I'm still miffed about Balzac.

Vivi,

"I think they could have lightened this episode up had they shown Balzac wandering by in the mall food court where Bea and Guillo were, or in the hospital waiting room, with no one noticing him."

What a great idea...the writers definitely be checking with you. I'm hoping that somehow Jean Marie will find and return Balzac.

I actually felt pity for Anibal last night, his best option might be to go ahead and die.

Carlos

Diana:

Roy as "a modern day Gollum"? You crack me up. [At first I thought you meant "golem" -- another kind of creature it seems, though I am not alone in having one remind me of the other.]

Your mention of the "two modern day knights" in the recap made me realize that all three -- JA, Frankie, and Salsero -- are knights; and each has rescued his particular damsel in distress more than once. Salsero's day job may be bodyguard to Furry but his CALLING is knight in tarnished armor to the lady Beatriz.

NovelaMaven - Terrific recap. I'm in awe of the wit you brought to this disturbing episode. Some of my favorites have already been mentioned, but here are a few more:

“Use that big mouth for good, PaulaToo! Advance the plot, already!”

“Nikki looks at him with the same expression she gets after binging on 17 chocolate bars.”

I didn't realize how much Adriana had gotten on my last nerve till I found myself cheering for PaulaToo in their dust-up. "Mujerzuela," really? PaulaToo was with your father for 20 years -- that's a relationship. Give it a rest and focus on finding your daughter.

PaulaToo is something else though. What good would it do Anibal to find out on his death bed that he had a third daughter?

Loved Salsero and Guzman taking down Leo. At last! But I want to see Bea kick Leo.

Thanks, Novelamaven for another clever recap. Open letter to coy BoyToyRoy : regarding the sweater over the shoulders...I didn't even like that look when it was popular...about 20 years ago. Also, my theory concerning the elusive Balzac is that the doggie actor is demanding more money...or maybe more doggie treats. I enjoyed watching Leo get roughed up. How does that feel, Leo ? Carlos ~~~The guy playing Roy's daddy was also in Amor Real .

What I do like about Salsero is that he has taken to pondering, too. He figured out the note from Bea was a message, and I am sure he will understand what Nikki went through (at his hands I might add but with some help of course) now that his beloved Bea has experienced the same thing (only worse).

Abuse is a conditioned behavior and it looks like from the previews that Leo's mother is just going with what she knows.

And I'll bet Bea will actually be appreciative for his and Guzmi's efforts and for more than 5 minutes (unlike Nikki).

My money's on Doris. I don't think she'll be a party to the marriage of convenience. But if it happens, maybe Nikki will finally grow up, although it think it would put her at tremendous risk healthwise. That would suit Roy just fine I think.

Arriaga in the middle of the cat fight was too funny. He does have a lot of experience with cats though...

Susanlynn, in STuD, if you recall, FC did the sweater over the shoulders thing and received a fair amount of criticism for it.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, a lot that may have come from you in fact.

Carlos

Concerning Leo's mother, it seems to me that the family of abusive, troubled people are silent when the person finds a decent person because they think that this good person will reform their damaged relative. When our daughter met her soon-to-be ex, he was getting a master's at the college that daughter was about to get her undergrad degree from. He was 10 years older. Our family had reservations and counseled her not to be hasty to take her time...he wanted to elope. elope after only 6 months. We did everything we could to slow things down, but you know how it is...love is blind...sometimes deaf, too. At the wedding a few years later, his mother sat next to me and said '' Everyone in our family is divorced [except her and the guy's dad]...but this marriage will last forever.'' me : ''Que did you just say???'' Ex has 7 siblings. The whole family hid the fact that he had a drug and alcohol problem when he was a teen. So,,,,mothers, fathers, siblings often protect the flawed person in the hopes that he will be saved by a good spouse. I could write a novela now that so many secrets have been revealed to us. I'm sure that Leo's mom knows exactly what Leo is. She has probably witnessed his abuse, and perhaps his dad abused her. She knows, but he is still her son , so she is protecting him.

Carlos~~~Yes, I cringed every time I saw FC with that horrid striped sweater oh-so-not-casually slung over his big, broad shoulders. Not macho, hombre. Give me a nice, macho flannel shirt...a rough tough leather jacket ....a handsome jacket...but no shoulder sweaters. p.s. Picture Big Ed or the Rock trying out this look...so wrong.

NovelaMaven - Thank you for the recap of yet another dark episode! I was so stressed out for Bea.

I think Leo's mother has an idea what's going on. Most batterers/abusers learn this behavior while growing up, with domestic violence in their own home. My money is on her having been in Bea's shoes and she's not going to risk being Leo's next target.

The first time Leo hit Bea is when she should have gotten out of that relationship. That's the lesson to be learned, but Televisa is not doing a good job of getting that message across. (I used to answer crisis line at a DV shelter...it was a big education).

Paula . . . good grief. Anibal deserves her.

My LOL moment in this very dark episode was when Anibal opened his eyes at the moment Paula told him he has another daughter. That just struck me funny, for some reason. Oh... the melodrama of it all. Gah.

Poor Arriaga, trying to control all three women last night was like trying to herd cats. Bless his heart.

..."knight in tarnished armor" - well put, NM.

susanlynn- Such a perfect read on what's likely going on with Leo's mom and the kind of family he grew up in. I don't think she was likely an abuser, but the abused, and she is turning a blind eye to the truth that her son has turned out exactly like her abusive husband. You could see the apprehension on her face when she saw Bea's bruised face, but she chose to shake it off and to believe a story only a six year old would believe-- that Bea fell. Uh huh.

How old is Guillo supposed to be? Are some kids really this obtuse? I remember being pretty tuned into my parents at that age, especially my mom, and know if she was hurting emotionally or physically. And if I had seen my mom so bruised up, I would have been covering her with hugs and kisses, not rushing off to make hulk sounds with my dad. Maybe that's just a difference between boys and girls of that age?

NM! Genius from start to finish. You especially nailed Viewervilles sentiments regarding PaulaToo and Roy (I haven't seen hair that high since Grease came to the Kennedy Center!).

She won't leave, she won't shut up, and she won't spit out the name! Amen, Sister!!! And I thought it was funny that after the doc advises how delicate Anyballs is, Vicki agrees to grill him for info on where Luci is and Paul's storms the Bastille to give him the shock of his life!!! Nice loved ones.

Roy and his omega-3 deficiency!!!! Hahaha!!! I didn't think I could hate a new novio more than Nikki's previous parade of losers but I thought wrong--Roy is a new low.

Lastly, I am having to ratchet this beanie on sooooo tight. So if Cristina is Anibals daughter, then Lili is his granddaughter as a result. As if that's not enough of a coinkydink, she's actually his granddaughter from his OTHER daughter because he had two grandchildren born in the same instant in the same remote hospital. Is it just me or is that far fetched even by TN standards?!!

Thanks so much, NovelaMaven!! This funny, spot-on recap brightened my day!!

Katy

Carlos:

Coy Roy's Dad is NOT Nelson from Dinero. The actor playing CoyRoy's dad is Luis Xavier, he was in Destilando Amor. The actor that played Nelson in Dinero is Hector Sandarti, he is on Hoy during the day. Just a bit of info.

Katy- Amiga, this is the kind of tn where you need to have reinforced beanies AND backup beanies when those ones go caput. But it's also the kind of tn that creates amazing recaps and comments.

I kind of see it as two tns right now. The storyline of Bea is so deadly serious, and is being played totally straight and very well. And then there's the rest of the tn, which is a mess of a contrived plot, but it is fun and funny many times. I am liking it despite myself, but more likely because of this group.

Carlos- Mads is right. Dandy is not Roy's dad. But wouldn't it be great if he were. Then we could see him do that eye pop trick when he sees how many pesos Nikki will inherit.

Vivi: I too miss the Nelson eye pop, but he does it on Hoy quite a bit. It's too funny. Also the Luis Xavier actor played a doctor on Destilando Amor, too funny, eh Carlos?

In Amor Real, this actor was on the other side of the ''marriage-for-money''-- equation. He played the hermano of a woman whom Edhardo LaGuardio tricked into marriage. He's a great character actor and has played many different types of characters. p.s. My robot stopping word i.d. is ''tsKorea''...odd.

Thank you for your fantastic recap, Queen Maven! :)

"They keep vigil over Aníbal, the fallen alpha male: some truly want him to live; some hope he survives just long enough to tell his secrets or to hear and forgive their own sins; still others are already counting his money and imagining just a taste of his power."

Wow, I didn't know Homer (the Greek one, not the one from The Simpsons) was an AV fan, too! :) This sounds like a line from the Iliad.

Diana: Roy, the modern day Gollum :DDDDDDD

In Mexico the ratings are still up in the sky. I'm impressed.

NovelaMaven:

I kinda like the Paula actress (Silvia Manriquez) here as Paula. This actress can cry with the best of them! In CS2009 she actually played a mujer zuela and she cried thoroughout the whole TN! I also like that Paula is an "older" woman for a mistress. You don't see that very often in TN's. I swear Candelaria looks way younger than Paula does. I like Gilda (Diana Golden) but I don't see any chemistry with her and Anyballs.

I like that this TN is giving the older actors a shot, instead of it being about teens/twenty somethings. It is wonderful to see a mature romance for once.

Also love the actor Enrique Rocha, even though I don't like his character. He is such a charmer and I bet he is a pussy cat in real life.

NovelaMaven---Great recap, you got a good one---Bea is FREE YEAH!!!!!
We are all so happy that Bea is finally away from that creep. The beat down wasn't strong enough for me though, he deserved more. Last night was both good and bad/dark and light---you did an excellent job with this recap.
Some great lines---Leo is the happiest sciopath in the world---soon to be followed up by---unfortunately he is still breathing
My thoughts exactly.

The new plan---Put a Brizz bun in the Ferretti oven. Oh please, that's just what we need-NOT-but how is that going to happen when 4F
can't function?

Diana---Salsero did tell Bea that he had done some things in his life that he was not proud/ashamed of and that he didn't want to do those kind of things again. He was going to confess his past to her but Bea said that she didn't want to know, remember?

Susanlynn---Great insight concerning Leo's mother. I think that you are right on.

Boy Toy Roy---I can't stand this pompous ass. Nikki really knows how to choose em. They say that "birds of a feather fly together." Well what would you expect from a spoiled rich immature
brat. I'd choose wise, sweet Little Orchid any day.

Don't worry about Balzac, he's recuperating after being beaten up by the tough street dogs for wearing that ridiculous doggie outfit---he'll be ok.

A question. I guess I'm dense but I'm confused as to why Paula Whiner is being kept away from Vikki and Anyballs? She was with him for twenty years, Did Vikki not know this?

One last thing---DWS rescuing Bea in a near dark room with sunglasses
on--QUE? Well I did notice that they were a little low on his nose and that he was looking out over them but a rescue in a dark room with sunglasses?? I had to laugh.
the gringo

Gringo:

Ms Vikki and Adri both knew that Anyballs had a mistress but not who it was. Ms Vikki told Anyballs never to bring his mistress to the home, because PauToo was with Anyballs the day, Pilar, Ms Vikki's Mama and Anyballs wife died. Adri now knows who the mistress is, but not Ms Vikki, hence this is the reason they are keeping or trying to keep PauToo out of the Balvanera Manse. Anyballs doesn't want to cross that line and besides they are broken up now too. Hope that explains it.

gringo~~~Adriana evidently knows that Paula was Anyballs' amante, but I guess Miss Vikki doesn't. At this point, who cares. Pathetic Paula should move on and try to forge a life. She made some bad decisions 1] Anyballs 2] Abandoning her children . She has to do more than cry and whine . Stop wasting the rest of your life, Pathetic Paula. Go volunteer somewhere, or better yet, spend some time with YOUR GRANDSON who is in the middle of a hot mess with a psychotic father and an abused mother.

Hi Gringo: I do remember Bea and Salsero's conversation. He was ready to fess up but she wasn't ready to hear. Agreed.

Admitting your sins vs. wanting to atone due to genuine remorse and guilt are two totally different things. I haven't seen Salsero do any tortured soul searching or heard any anguished cries or lamenting about what he has done.

Think he is simply missing a few of the steps in his program.

Diana

Fantastic recap Maven!

So the person who needs duct tape on their mouth is not Bea but her mother. Shut the &%@# up already!! It's like "Oh I feel so guilty and want Anyballs to know that he has another kid, but I really don't mind giving him another heart attack."

Yes, Paula and Nikki need to go volunteer in a Mexico City homeless shelter and work up to their knees in filth and poverty and get off their insipid, whiny victim pity pots.

I belive Luis Xavier was also in Querida Enemiga...

Diana

Madelaine--Susanlynn--Diana
Thanks for setting me straight.
the gringo

Madelaine and Vivi,

Oops.

Well, I think that Nelson from Dinero might make a better dad for Roy...at least more fun for us and probably Doris as well.

Carlos

What a brilliant recap. Love the title. My favorite quip was when you asked cash cow Nikki to moo.

Too bad Nikki didn't see Guzmancito take down Leo the Loony. Coy BoyToyRoy would have paled even more in comparison. I'm going to have to tune up my beanie to believe that no one knows what a washout Roy is. If he was on the international tennis circuit, wouldn't his old friends have followed his career at least somewhat? Some of his matches should have been televised, or they would at least have been able to check on the interwebz to see how he was doing, or to notice that he didn't seem to appear amongst the mentions of the tennis elite. But I guess his former girlfriend who claims to be super fond of him and has little else to do with her time just cannot be bothered to notice.

I am angry at Leo's mother. She and Paula should form a Useless Mothers Club.

Thank you so much to everyone who took a moment to comment today. I'm especially appreciative of the kind words.

Homer? Homer Simpson? Aribeth, I think you are on to something. That explains the couch that I spotted on the Patio. It was dawn (rosy fingered, natch) when I noticed it. There they were, a family of five yellow toons -- a nice lady with blue hair and a pearl necklace and a guy with a big belly and a can of Duff Beer in his hand. The baby is adorable. The girl is very serious, isn't she? (I think she's taking notes.) Their boy looks like a handful though. (He kind of resembles Coy boy toy Roy, now that I look closely.)

Wonderful recap, NovelaMaven! I love your style.

What a difficult episode. I hope to see Leo the Low get what's due him and SOON!

So now we know the story behind Roy the Boy's sudden interest in Nikki. Her "gold digger" meter is BROKEN. She's got the wrong guy pegged!

I love Salsa-Dude more and more. He must have redemption now! Poor Bea needs a decent man in her life, and since Salsa-Dude is the only one interested in the job, it's got to be him!

Finally got caught up with this week's episodes. Thank you recappers! Your hard work is much appreciated.

PS: NovelaMaven-there is definitely something off with CoyRoy's tenis...or maybe it's his feet. The seen quite small to me.

oh jeez. His feet seem quite small to me. Sorry.

NovelaMaven:

I don't watch The Simpsons, nor Family Guy, nor South Park. I heard they are awesome, funny and snarky, but the childish and over-simplified way they are drawn irritates me to no end.

I was referring to Homer, the blind Greek author who (supposedly) wrote Iliad and Odyssey 2800 years ago. Your lovely intro with Aníbal, the fallen alpha male reminded me of the great ancient Greek authors like Homer and Sophocles. "Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy." :)

Aribeth:

Sorry. I was just playing with the name. I did know which Homer you meant, amiga. That's why I put in this parenthetical comment:

It was dawn (rosy fingered, natch) when I noticed it.

I was alluding to the way Homer usually describes "daybreak" in The Iliad which, in English, is usually translated as "Rosy-fingered Dawn."

In Greek, it is:

ῥοδοδάκτυλος Ἠώς (Rhododaktylos Eos)

*Other famous Homeric epithets -- shorthand descriptions, sort of nicknames, used whenever a name or force of nature is mentioned in The Odyssey or The Iliad -- are "Swift-footed Achilles", "Grey-eyed Athena," or "the wine-dark sea." My personal fave is "Cow-eyed Hera."

The other Homer -- Simpson, that is -- is so deeply entrenched in modern American culture that even folks like me who rarely watch the show still know this bright yellow family and their famous couch where they gather to watch TV. I'm not surprised that Homer has crossed the wine-dark sea to Europe and insinuated himself into television sets there.

There was a lot more Homer Simpson in my life when my grown children were living at home -- they were all huge fans and thought the writers were brilliant.

Right now I have several editions of the Greek Homer (in Greek and in various translations into English) gathering dust on my bookshelves. The cheaper ones will soon be as yellow as the Simpsons. There was a time when I could even read them. Damn.

Anyway, I was just trying to say in my awkward fashion: Thank you, Aribeth for referring to the poet and a mavenism in the same sentence. Doh!!!

Awww, it was so early in the morning when I read your reply that I didn't notice the rosy-fingered dawn! Perdóname. :) By the way, it was translated to Hungarian in the same way.
I love cow-eyed Hera, too.
