Amores Verdaderos Cap 85 - 3/12/13 - Lies and unheard declarations of love

I'm going to do a summary and then fill in later.

BRIEF SUMMARY. I'm phoning it in tonight. Hopefully will fill in more later! But I have a few screencaps this time. (Video capture is processing. Maybe more tomorrow!)

* Refrito of Roy the Boy gloating about how he's going to pad his extravagant lifestyle by marrying a rich girl from a good family, aka Nikki. Douche!

* Refrito with Nikki telling her mom that she doesn't want Roy the Boy to know about her bulimia. Enough people know already!
* A lot of the scenes in this episode were set in the hospital, where everyone is either visiting Anibal or hoping to visit Anibal. BTW, Anibal is doing better. They've moved him to his regular hospital room now.
* Nikki is depressed and eating contraband candy in her room. Is busted by Thomasina, who sympathetically tells her that they're all there for her. Thomasina takes the candy away. (I wonder if they ever found that huge cake under her bed? Did I miss that episode?)
* Salsa-Dude is talking with Guzmancito about Leo the Low being on the Lam. He's worried that sooner or later the Low One will come after Beatriz again. He's angry that the Low One got away. Guzman says he wanted Bea to press charges, but she decided against it due to how it would impact Guillo. (No win, that's what I think.)
* It's established that Beatriz is worried that Salsa-Dude and Leo the Low will get into a fight and Beatriz is worried that Salsa-Dude will come to harm.
* Talking with Guzman Gambling Dad and Beatriz. He spins his party line about gambling to get more for his family. Beatriz, frustrated, says what she wants is a dad who is working hard and honest.
* Salsa-Dude and Guzmancito worried about how to protect Beatriz from Leo the Low. Meanwhile, Leo is doing some freaky meltdown at his (I think) mom's house (or his house?) where he is vowing that he will get Salsa-Dude.
* Nikki torments poor Guzmancito. She wants Salsa-Dude to take her to the hospital to see Anibal. Stink-eye at Guzmancito. After she goes, Guzman laments to himself that he can't stop loving her.
* Christina and Lily have come to the hospital to give some flowers to Anibal, because they like him and he's a neighbor. This seems strange to Victoria and Big Angel. But Christina seems sincere. Methinks this is the call of the blood rearing its head. She's not allowed to visit Anibal (as only "family" is allowed to see him) but leaves the flowers she brought with Vicki so she can give them to him. When Anibal is told that Christina wanted to see him, his face lights up and he seems genuinely touched. He laughs that she is "overfamiliar" but that's why he likes her.
* Lili sees Guzmancito at the hospital and they chat with each other in a friendly manner. Nikki sees this and is super jealous. She interrupts their friendly exchange to snipe at Lily that she has no business being there to visit HER (Nikki's) grandfather! (Oh, if Nikki only knew! LOL.) Lily looks hurt.
* Anibal asks to see Adriana and Victoria. Emotional scene where he LIES LIKE A RUG and tells Adriana that it must have been the doctor who pulled the douchebaggery, because he was told that her baby was born dead! No, he never saw the baby. Perhaps the doctor was involved in human trafficking or something. (How cynical can you be, Anibal?) Adriana isn't totally convinced of this and still gives Anibal some heat. He swears he is innocent.
* Adriana and Victoria talk a bit about how they view Anibal. Adriana isn't very charitable, while Victoria is saying, "He's our dad." Yeah it sucked that he was cheating on their mom and all. But they have a family business and what can Victoria do?
* Polita and Liliana chat. Lily wants to be seen as a "grown woman" so she can attract "Fran... errr, be seen as a grown up by everyone." Polita misses her reference to Guzman (aka Francisco). Polita notes that city girls (like Nikki) are different from country girls (like Polita and Lily). Polita says that even though she knows she's lost her blond hottie Guzman, she hopes that one day she might get him. (She also notes that she's saving her virginity too.) Lily smiles awkwardly, not admitting that she's got the hots for Guzmancito too.
* Weird scene where Big Angel "comforts" Adriana, who is worried that her daughter will have moved on to a new life and won't be interested in knowing Adriana. Big Angel encourages Adriana by telling her, "Hey, you're this girl's mother." Sure it'll be weird for the people that this girl considers her family (that would be YOU, Big Angel, though you don't know it yet!) but it's no one's fault. The family will understand, surely! (I hope YOU do, Big Angel!)
* Anibal asks to see Salsa-Dude and appoints him with an important task. There is some conversation which makes me think that Salsa-Dude was hired by Anibal and "given a chance" by him. Anibal wants Salsa-Dude to make his excuses, don't let anyone know, and go to Anibal's bedroom at home and get his checkbook. Then bring it back to him. Salsa-Dude promises to do so. When Salsa-Dude gets the checkbook, he thumbs through it, marvels at the money Anibal has, and says "With this much money my life would be changed. I could really have something to offer Beatriz!" Stop it, Salsa-Dude, you're making me nervous.
* Kendra-Ho wants Christina to go with her on some trip. The wearing of a bikini is required. Christina doesn't like the sound of it—she doesn't want to go anywhere without her hubby. Kendra-Ho reminds her that if men get to do it (in this case, go on trips) so can women. Christina knows, but . . . Then Christina turns blabbermouth and mentions that Beatriz and Salsa-Dude are a sorta-item. Kendra raises one eyebrow and you know this means trouble down the road.
* Estafano has come to visit the mansion, to check up on Anibal and to offer his support. He thoughtbubbles that even though they are competitors in business, he truly cares for this family. While he is thinking, Jean Marie is skulking around in the background, hiding behind pillars, and spying the delectable Estafano.
* Nikki is talking with a therapist about her problems. It's been established that she's depressed. She doesn't get enough sleep, she's tired all the time, she wakes up feeling sad. The therapist asks her about her friends. She says that a lot of her friends are there with her for interés, aka for what they can get out of her. Maybe they want modeling jobs with her parents' company, or they want to attend events and parties with her. The therapist asks her about novios. She talks about being involved with a guy who was only interested in borrowing money from her mom. She cries as she says, "But I still love him!"

AVANCES: Adriana gets a gun and decides to threaten the doctor. This is not good! Adriana, you are getting on my nerves.

I'm mad that Ms Vikki is once again mad at the Angel. She shouldn't be listening to his convos on the phone and he shouldn't be telling secrets on the phone where she can hear him. Oldest TN thingy in the book, no? I hope they patch it up.
Kendho and jealousy, who knew? I guess if she can't have the Dancing Dude noone else can have him either. Boo Hiss.
I too hope Salsero doesn't five finger discount any of Anyball's money. I want him to be redeemed. He has been the sweetest guy eva, lately.
Nikki is just a hot mess. Hate the way she is treating poor Frankie. Why didn't she ask her Mami about Frankie's loan? I'm sure her Mami would have told her. Nikki takes too much at face value and that is going to hurt her, especially if she beleives the spouting lies of the FF in the making, BoyToyRoy. Also didn't like the way she treat Lili.
Cris did do the sweet thing by bringing the flowers along with Lili, they didn't have to be so rude to her. Both FF and Vikki were. And now Cris going on a trip with Kendho, oh, noes.
So the FF must have functioned with the help of his little blue pill. I really hope Kendho gets preggers and FF has an infarto, poetic justice so to speak.
Anyballs did lie like a rug. He wouldn't know the truth even if the anvil of fate fell on his head.
I still feel sorry for Adri. I know she is over the top, but the poor lady is desperate. Nikki did not need to get in her face the way she did. I like the way that Angel talked to Adri and gave her hope and courage. If only Adri had a confidant besides The Godfather. Vikki usually is but she's been worrying about her lying as a rug Papi. Now Adri's got a gun and is going to confront that doc. Ruh Roh

Elvira thanks for a great recap. Adriana is really also getting in my nerves! Escandalosa! For a really rich girl, she lacks the class act of Jackie O. Why can't she listen to the advice of Arriaga and Vickie.The hospital is not the place to look for her daughter.Vicki has already pledged to help her look for her daughter what is it that she could not understand.
The one thing I could not understand about Nikki is why she could not talk to Guzmancito and hear his side of the story. Tho I am team Nikki/Guzmancito and tho I think that Liliana is too young for him that was mean of Nikki to treat her like that. I hope she changes her attitude towards her and then she'll find that she can be a good friend(cousin)to her.

Elvira: I loved your title and "contraband candy". There were many wonderful lines but the captions were amazing: "A heart attack hasn't taken the edge off his lying skills" (still chortling) and "Stop thinking like this, Salsa-Dude! Madelaine - amiga, I did not think that Vicky was rude to Cris. Did I miss something? I thought she looked a little puzzled when Cris showed up (with eye popping attire) but did not do or say anyting ungracious that I noticed. Nelson on the other hand was an ass. I liked that Anibal was pleased Cris was there. It would be nice to have Cris join her sisters - sweet (Vicky), spicy (Cris) and emotional (Adri)...
I don't like Nikki's continued dissing of Lili - I wish she would give her a chance and give Francisco the opportunity to explain (as you noted Vida2.
Like you Elvira, I am concerned that Salsero may be tempted to fall into bad habits. Let's hope it was just a momentary temptation and wishful thinking. Leo's lair gave me chills. His vengence will be swift and terrible I fear.
I hate it when JA and Vicky aren't getting along. Despite their petty squables, Vicky knows he is in her corner and is her staunchest supporter.

Being the classy gal that I am, I'm going to hone right in on the reference to Roy as a "Douche". Thanks for putting that out there. Now I don't have to (thought my Back Row rep is sealed....I guess I might as well embrace it.)

Vida2- Add me to the list of people annoyed by Adriana. I can just imagine how much she is suffering. I get it. But after weeks of screaming mee mee and not getting the information she wants, you would think she would change tactics.

I tuned out Nikki and walked out of the room when she started screaming at Adri. One screaming mimi in one episode is enough. I couldn't take two. I appreciate that Nikki loves her Tatito, like Vicky loves him. But even though I wish Vicky were more wise to her papa's evil ways, she's not screaming at Adri for hurting their papa. I missed the part where Anibal was telling something to Nikki and as a result, she jumped in Adriana's face. What did Anyballs say to her?
I think Vikki was still riding the "betrayal" of Arriaga when she was less than gracious (I don't consider it rude) to Cris. I couldn't believe that Cris was letting her girls out at the hospital. I also am amazed at how Cris likes to "share" information. Her continuing association with Kendra can't be good...
I really feel sorry for Francisco - he gets dissed by Nikki and he really has no coping mechanism with Paula other than to shut her out.
If Nikki doesn't get it together with her therapist, I am afraid she will be heading down the same road as her mother and her marriage of inconvenience.

I really feel sorry for Francisco - he gets dissed by Nikki and he really has no coping mechanism with Paula other than to shut her out.
If Nikki doesn't get it together with her therapist, I am afraid she will be heading down the same road as her mother and her marriage of inconvenience.

All the Balvaneras were rude. Vickie has more class than Nelson and Nikki, but she was rude in a quiet way - looking at Cris's flowers like they were some strange thing. Geez, most people actually find comfort in the fact that someone else cares about their loved one. The proper thing to have done was to thank Cris for coming and caring about her dad and tell her she'd give him the flowers as he could see only family now (then pitch the flowers after Cris left if she didn't think they were appropriate). Cris had the call of the blood, plus she's from a tiny town where that's what you do. JA looked so uncomfortable at seeing both his girls being dissed but in no professional position to do anything about. EY played that well. Yep, Kendra is influencing Cris's choice of dress.

Niecie, when Cris shoved the flowers into Vikki's face, that was also ungracious. Not exactly rude because Cris meant to disrespect. She is like a bull in a china shop and did look good, if inappropriate in attire.

But a lot of times we say, "No, people wouldn't wear that in real life" about telenovela fashions, and then a few months later, we see it everywhere. I'm afraid of what summer will bring.

You know, we talk about Adri's crazy reactions to Anibal and Paula, but when Guzman finds out Anibal is the man his mother ran off with, his reaction won't be much different.

Julia- I have seen the doily shorts in a few different catalogues and stores for next season. Last year, I saw those fur vests from CME everywhere. This fall/winter, I was in Old Navy and the checked/flannel shirt (Amor Bravio) was back, in a big way.

I am pretty sure that I'm not the only one in Viewerville who has breathed a sigh of relief that Nikki is, AT LAST, talking to a therapist and telling the real truth about her life for the first time ever. Now let's hope that he doesn't just push meds on her but has the skill to get to the bottom of her eating disorder.

Thanks, Elvira. I guess we can't blame Chris. She's a rural girl cast into the big city through no fault of her own . Plus, she fell under the influences of two of the biggest local floozies...first, Pathetic BooHoo Paula and now that master of disguise and kink...KendHo, the Magnificent. This girl has gone wild. As I've noted before...how are you going to get them back on the farm after they've met a couple hos. Carlos~~~I think that those rocks that Adriana is carrying around in her handbag are symbolic of the heavy psychological weight she totes 24/7. Perhaps , instead of shooting the doctor, she'll bean him with one of her pet rocks.

Anita, you just reminded me that I actually have some contraband candy under my bed. In my defense, there are very few kinds I can eat due to food intolerances, there was a great price on the one black licorice candies I love and can eat, and I have a very small kitchen with no extra storage space. I wish I had a big delicious cake stashed somewhere.

When Adriana first came on the tn she seemed so level-headed and intelligent.
