Amor Bravío #144 (Uni 139) Tue 3/12/13 The Teflon Kimodo

Suddenly Brava Agustina does her best to convince Dionicio that she’s on his side and wants only to be by his side.  She’s tells him one day Camila will realize her mistakes and ask their forgiveness.  She declares her love for him and she can’t live without him.  Dionicio isn’t quite sure he should trust her and thoughbubbles that he’s going to have to keep an eye on her.  He tells her she did the right thing – her place is there next to him.

PabLuzma Townhouse
Mariano and Ana arrive to take Rocio and Rufi back to their place.  Rufi is happy they’ll all be together. Rocio isn’t so happy – Yago still hasn’t forgiven her.  Mariano is sure he’ll come around.  He’s sure Nati will convince him but Rocio isn’t too sure she will.  Rocio’s happy Mariano and Pablo have given her another chance.  Ana is also happy and likes her more this way and hopes Rocio doesn’t return to her banshee ways.  Rocio promises she won’t.

Amanda’s Hostal
Dante and Teresa are enjoying a post nooky breakfast of spicy chilaquiles.  Aaron arrives and tells them about Rafa’s accident.  Tere mentions she arrived too late last night to see his message.  Aaron tells them about the roof.  He even mentions Padre had also looked for her.  They rush off to see Rafa.

La Malquerida
PabLuzma head downstairs for breakfast.  Rodolfo*sigh* interrupts them, asking Pablo about the feed they’re ordering.  Pablo hesitates to leave Luzma but she convinces him to go ahead.  After they leave she gets on the phone to Irene.  She tells her how she tried again last night with Pablo but failed.  She doesn’t know what she’s going to do.  Pablo took it well and even suggested a date night but she’s afraid they’ll try again only to fail once again.  Irene thinks the date night idea might be good for them – a chance to be alone together.  Irene thinks Luzma needs to get some courage.  By that she means the kind you can get from a bottle and suggests some copitas to break down her inhibition.  She has nothing to lose and  if she should get drunk, hey that’s ok cuz Pablo is her husband and won’t say anything.  Besides it can only help.  Luzma agress and thanks her for the advice.  (Ruh-roh – this is not going to be good)

Aculco –delegación
It’s Daniel’s turn in the witness chair.  The prosecutor states the charges Daniel has brought against Hissadora that she’s responsible for Baldomero’s death.  Daniel lays out the story that he and Camila found the Padre in his truck, crashed against a tree.  (flashback to that moment)  Once Padre had been hospitalized, they returned to the ranch to tell everyone about the accident, including Hissadora and Alonsodead.  They didn’t provide any details and yet Hissadora and Alonso seemed to know everything as though they’d been there.  (flashback to when Alonso blurts out the horror for Camila to find Padre crashed against a tree)  Daniel continues, saying Hissadora denied speaking to Padre but Natalia told him Padre had indeed spoken to the Kimodos because he (Padre) had become aware of a death certificate for Daniel.  (flashback to Nati telling him this)  Prosecutor doesn’t understand how there could be a death certificate when Daniel is alive.  Daniel explains it was a fake that the Kimodos forged in order to claim Daniel’s inheritance, but Padre knew Daniel was alive.  The Kimodos felt threatened and attempted to kill him.  Hissadora smiles her best Kimodo smile.  Prosecutor wants to know what other proof he has besides Alonsos comment about the tree, because a suspicion is not sufficient.  Hissadora speaks up:  “Everything he’s said is a lie.  There’s no proof against me.”  Prosecutor tells her to shut it.  Daniel continues.  That night, he inspected Alonso’s car and noticed it had paint on it that matched that of Baldomero’s pickup.  He also found a button belonging to Leoncerdo.  That proves they sent Leoncerdo to kill the good Padre.  But Padre didn’t die there and that’s why Hissadora went to kill him at the Hostal.  She and Alonso were the only ones who could gain from his death.  He was the only one who could prevent them from disclosing the false death certificate.

Orphanage
Padre Anselmo and Teresa are clearing up the room where the roof caved in.  (Actually, Anselmo is doing all the work.  Teresa is in her heels amid the rubble, pretending to work.  She’s “busy” pulling out a shirt or two from each drawer.)  Anselmo is blabbing on about how responsive the townspeople have been by taking in the kids and helping with donations.  He notices she isn’t really listening.  She asks if she can speak to her brother and not the priest.  Ok, now he’s worried.  She says something happened last night but it’s very intimate/personal.  She explains how she and Dante began the evening by having dinner and a few copitas and BAM! they ending up in bed together.  She could blame it on the alcohol but she’s surprised at the great time she had with him. Speaking as her brother, Anselmo says that aside from being with Dante, this shows she is trying to go on with her life with someone who isn’t Mariano.  He knows she’ll say she loves Mariano and he doesn’t doubt it but the thing is, Mariano doesn’t love her.  Last night, she allowed herself to open another door, one that has allowed him to see a face with a smile he hasn’t seen in some time.  She simply sighs and smiles.  (what a great brother/sister talk!)

In another area, Dante and Aaron share some guy talk.  They’re both wearing hardhats and Aaron is carrying a shovel – never  mind that Teresa and Anselmo are in the room where the roof actually came down and she’s wearing heels and a dress!  Anyway, Dante tells Aaron about the lovefest.  He’s surprised at how well they got along.  Aaron doesn’t see how that can be, they’ve always seemed to get along.  Dante agrees but he was in that bar to think about someone he should really forget about.  That’s what Aaron loves about life, it surprises you when you least expect it.  Just think, Dante went to the bar looking to forget someone and Teresa is apparently the one who can help him do that.

Back to La Delegación
Prosecutor now asks what Hissadora has to say about Daniel’s accusation.  Predictably, she says there is absolutely no evidence.  She never spoke with the Padre the day of his accident.  She doesn’t even know if her son did but Alonso is the one who made the comment about the tree that the Padre crashed into.  And it was her son’s car that Leoncerdo was driving, not hers.  In response to the prosecutor’s question, she denies having anything to do with that fake death certificate.  It was sent from Chile when he was presumed dead after he escaped from that prison.  In fact, if Daniel were dead, it would be of no benefit or harm (perjudicar) to her.  “All lies,” says Daniel, “you were interested in getting La Malquerida, not just Alonso.”  “That’s what you say, Corazon,” she responds, “but there’s nothing to prove it.”  Daniel makes the accusation that she and Dionicio were interested in converting LMQ into a tourist trap.  She sarcastically says she wasn’t aware she was being detained for that but for the murder of Padre Baldomero.  And as for that, his accusations have no validity.  He accuses her again of suffocating the Padre and that’s why the medicine bottles were all over the floor.  Baldomero couldn’t move, so it must have been her when she murdered him.  Hissadora just laughs at this and says once again she wasn’t at the Hostal the day Baldomero died.  Furthermore, Señora Soledad Garcia already testified it wasn’t her she saw come out of el Hostal.  “As  much as you’d like to hang this on me, you’ll never succeed because I DIDN’T KILL HIM!  I AM NOT A MURDERER!”

Dionicio’s Digs
Suddently Brave Agustina is going through the drawers in the bedroom and thoughbubbles, “There’s nothing here.  Everything must be in his den.   In order to get in there undiscovered I’ll have to do so after he’s asleep.”  Her phone rings, interrupting her thought bubble.  It’s from Gladys’ son, telling her Gladys has gone to the great beyond.  (ruh-roh)  She tells him not to worry, she’ll check with her husband on how to go about collecting on the life insurance and retirement plan.  Poor Gladys, and poor Agustina!  She’s about to find out about another of Dion’s dastardly deeds.

La Delegación
Prosecutor reads results of Baldomero’s post morten autopsy (necropsia) where it was found that Padre didn’t die as a result of his injuries suffered at the car accident – he was murdered!  However there is insufficient evidence to hold Hissadora responsible for his death.  The evidence actually points to Alonso as the guilty party.  Therefore, Hissadora is free to go!

Dionicio’s Den
Dion gets a call from Omar with the news.  He’s very pleased.  Agustina is listening just outside the door and hears him say it was clear to him Daniel’s accusations wouldn’t mean a thing if the main witness recanted her testimony.  She hears him say how well their strategy worked to threaten the witness.  Agustina is impcactada and thoughtbubbles, “OMG – no puede ser.  Dion and Hissadora are also involved in the Padre’s murder!  Now more than ever I’ll have to find evidence against him.”  In the den, Dionicio opens The Briefcase and inexplicably says the passcode out loud as he opens it, “0-4-1-1-5-9”  (QTH?  Beanie moment)  He leaves the office and finds Agustina standing there.  She explains she’s there because her friend Gladys just died and she needs to know how to help Gladys’ son collect on the retirement/life insurance funds.  He assures her he’ll take care of it and suggests she go to the bedroom and relax.  Suddenly Brave Agustina resists and thinks it would be best for him to tell her now.  Gladys’ son was anxious to submit the claim in order to cover the hospital expenses.  He tells her not to push it and instead asks her to give him Gladys’ info and he’ll take care of it.  She caves but is clearly distressed.  He wonders why she’s looking at him that way.  She starts to give him the info.

La Delegación
Ozzie, Camila and Dan stand outside, frustrated at the outcome.  Ozzie can’t believe that woman always gets her way.  Daniel understands they may not be able to get her on the murder charge, but should be able to get her for Camila’s kidnapping.  She explains how Daniel found the recording in Alonso’s e-mail implicating Hissadora.  Daniel explains about the glitch in the recording and how Dante has taken it to Toluca for some tweaking.  He’s amazed at how they’ve been able to cover their tracks. Camila blurts out that Agustina is trying to get some proof on Dionicio even though it means putting herself in the wolf’s mouth (boca del lobo).  Just as she’s about to explain, here comes Hissadora on the arm of Cayetantarugo, about to do her victory dance.  She asks that they please just leave her in peace.  Camila tells her that sooner or later she’ll pay.  Cayetantonto tells Camila to just accept her defeat.  There’s nothing (proof) against his mujer.  If they continue in their efforts to harm her, he’ll have no choice but to bring charges against them for defamation.  Daniel assures him that next time the evidence will be convincing (contundente) and Caytantarugo will finally know who he’s married.  Cayetano doesn’t understand what they gain from hurting others.  Hissadora tells him to forget it.  Dreams don’t cost a thing, but Camila and Dan will never get what they want from her.  She takes Cayetantonto by the arm and they leave.

La Malquerida
The Fair Maid Miriam comes into the kitchen to prepare a bottle for Agatha and finds Luzma preparing mole (mmmmmm) for her mother-in-law.  Miriam invites herself along and says she’ll bake some cookies for Mariano since he’s been so nice to her – yup Cupid’s at work here.

Outside, Hipolito is washing the car and Piedad brings him a pitcher of orangeade.  She wants to be nice to him for all the kindness he’s shown her and her daughter.  She asks if he truly loves her.  At first he jokes that he really doesn’t but then says he adores her and that’s why he wants to marry her but she won’t say yes.  She tells him to put down his glass and then says “yes!”  He shouts with joy and the others come by to see what the fuss is all about.  Hipolito shares is good news.  “Arriba los novios!”  Luzma comes out too.  Hipolito sweetly asks her for her mother’s hand in marriage.  She  gladly accepts, saying she wants to see her mother happy.  Hipolito thanks her because he loves Piedad with all his heart and he loves Luzma as though she were his daughter.  Everyone hugs.

Buenaventura
Amanda comes to visit Yago.  She wants to discuss his feelings for her daughter.  She wants him to swear he’s marrying her because he truly cares for her.  Yago doesn’t bat an eye and insists he’s in love with Nati.  Why else would he marry her?  Amanda suggests maybe someone is obliging him to marry her because of the baby.  Someone like Dionicio Ferrer!  Yago doesn’t understand where she got that story but no one can force him to do anything, much less Dion since he barely knows him.  Amanda notices the bling on his wrist.  She lectures him that a forced marriage won’t function.  She asks him to confide in her.  Yago repeats that the only reason he’s marrying Natalia is because he loves her and wants to form a family with her and their baby.  Amanda asks him to swear to it, and he does.

Amanda’s Hostal
Nati’s on the phone with Daddy Dearest, explaining that since Hissadora is in the clink, they have no choice but to skip (saltar) the whole asking for the hand bit.  Dionicio gives her the good news that Hissadora is free and says she and Yago should come by that very evening to formalize their engagement.  Nati’s surprised because of everything that’s going at LMQ because of the Virus.  Dionicio tells her that’s precisely why he’s moving the ceremony over to his place in Metepec.  Nati’s not so sure Yago and his family will be able to make it but Dionicio is very sure they will.  Nati agrees and thanks him.

Dionicio now gets on the phone to Yago and tells him this is the night he will ask for Nati’s hand, just as it should be and Yago will have to convince his father to attend

Rafa and Vivi’s home
Rafa is dictating to Vivi who seems to be struggling with the laptop.  Rafa gets frustrated that he can’t do it himself.  As Vivi turns to speak to him, Roman pushes a button and we hear the laptop respond.  Ooopsie!  Roman immediately apologizes.  Vivi reacts calmly, saying these things happen. Rafa urgently asks what’s going on, afraid his work may have been erased.  Vivi assures them both everyting will be ok.  Roman apologizes to Rafa, promising never to touch it again.  Vivi tells him it isn’t about never touching the laptop again, but learning how to use it because it’s a great tool for school.  Roman complains he doesn’t go to school and he only learns what they teach him at the orphanage.

Daniel and Camila come to pay a visit.  Camila’s surprised to see Roman there and learns how the orphans were dispersed throughout the town while repairs are made.  Vivi takes him to another room.  Rafa is surprised Dan is there.  Camila goes to put on a pot of coffee so they can discuss the testimony and Hissadora’s release.

La Delegacion
Juarez comes by to give Leoncerdo the bad news about Hissadora.  He typically blows up and starts throwing chairs around.  He thought bubbles that Hissadora will have to pay for what she did to him.  Juarez reminds him they had a deal and promises he’s going to come through with his part of the bargain even though Leoncerdo’s testimony wasn’t accepted.  Leoncero thoughtbubbles again that he won’t wait.  That “mendiga” is gonna die!

Amanda’s Hostal/Buenaventura
Nati and Yago are discussing the “pedida”.  He promises to do what he can to convince his father to come but he’ll come even if he ends up coming alone.  Starry eyed Nati thanks him for being so sweet and always wanting to please her.  She asks if it might be a good idea to let his mother know as well.  She might want to go.  Yago is adamant that will not happen.  It’s one thing for him to please her but it’s quite another to bring his mother into it.  He’s already told her he doesn’t want to see his mother nor does he want Nati to meddle into his relationship with her.  Nati insists and Yago shouts back that he doesn’t want his mother in his life!  He warns her not to think of inviting her or she will have a very serious problem with him.  Nati backs down, asking him not be angry.  He tells her he’ll see her later and hangs up.

Dionicio’s home
Agustina is searching through all the drawers.  She stops and then thinks on how blind she’s been. Padre Baldomero found out long before she did and it cost him his life!  She resumes her search when Dionicio comes in.  She sputters that she was looking for some drawer space for her things.  He points out 2 empty drawers and says there is more space in the closet.  When she concedes, he tells her to stop opening the drawers.  He now asks her to prepare an especially nice dinner for tonight.  Cayetano and Hissadora are coming to ask for Natalia’s hand.  Suddenly Brave Agustina balks at having to receive that jailbird in her home.  Dionicio understands but she’s married to his future son-in-law’s father so he really has no choice.  Agustina refuses to entertain that woman in her home.  Dionicio is fine with that.  Agustina can prepare the dinner and spend the evening in the bedroom if she’d like.  He will not close his doors to Cayetano’s wife, no matter who it is.  Are we clear?  Agustina concedes, saying Nati isn’t to blame if Hissadora is to be her mother-in-law.  She can only hope Hissadora treats Nati well.  Dionicio has one more request.  He’s not sure if Amanda plans to attend but she better have a place at the table.  He warns her that tonights dinner must be grand.  She nervously says there’s so little time to prepare but she’ll do what she can.  He insists she do whatever she has to in order to make this evening unforgettable, are we clear?  Agustina can only nod her head.  He leaves and she’s left with her thoughts.  No one can know that she’s discovered Hissadora is responsible for Padre Baldomero’s death and that Dionicio got her out of jail.  She prays for help.

Buenaventura
The happy couple returns.  Hissadora can’t wait to get out of her clothes.  Cayetano introduces her to Iliana.  Yago comes in and welcomes Hissadora and also asks them for a huge favor to accompany him to ask for Natalia’s hand.  Cayetano immediately scolds him for assuming they wouldn’t want to rest.  Hissadora pooh-poohs this and says she wouldn’t dream of letting Yago down. She agrees they’ll attend tonight.

Rafa/Vivi’s place
Dan is talking about the audio and how important it is to proving Hissadora’s participation in Camila’s kidnapping.  Camila doesn’t know what to think.  She doesn’t think there is any real justice and that evildoers never pay.  At times she just wants to run away and forget about everything that hurts her.  Dan tries to say they’ve lost the battle but not the war.  Camila wonders when they’ll win – it could take years.  She’s been thinking that when this is all over, she’d like to go away for some time and take her mother with her.  The ranch would do fine without her.  Pablo is a great administrator and Rodolfo*sigh* is a fine capataz.  She feels it’s time to start anew.  Daniel muses that she wants to leave while he wants to stay.  Their plans don’t seem to coincide.  She agrees but then says they will “coincide” shortly, when they both leave.  He’ll be in Chile and it’s very like they’ll never know of him again.  Daniel can’t think that just because he leaves, he’ll leave behind his friendships with Rafa, Vivi, Aaron and more importantly with her.  Camila disagrees and feels that once he leaves, it will be their final goodbye.  Daniel hadn’t considered that and his face says it all.

Avances
-Camila tells Daniel she doesn’t want any more goodbyes
                -Dionicio and Kimono swap spit
-Luzma smashes a glass against Pablo’s face and calls him Leoncio! (gasp)

QTH? Only one scene with my Rodolfo? I'm heartbroken. =(

Does Leoncio know that Alonso is dead?

Thank you, Paquita. Great job!

Yum. Chilaquiles.

Yes. Get a little liquor in you to loosen you up, Loosema. Irene scored big points with me with that advice, but we’ll see what she does with it. High potential for disaster, unfortunately.

What a judicial system. She who shouts loudest wins, I guess.

Is Padre Anselmo a great brother or what? I wasn’t sure how he’d react to his sis’ loose morals, but he came through like a champ. As did Aaron with Dante, as always. I am seeing a future for this couple and I like that.

Mole, super mmmm! I am impressed that Luzma knows how to make it since it isn’t the easiest thing to make. I didn’t follow that conversation and I thought MM said she wanted to learn, but of course not. That would be outside her little bubble.

Loved, loved, loved the engagement scene.

So just now Dan is figuring out that his and Camila’s plans don’t coincide? Good God. His plan to carry on with wife #1 doesn’t coincide, either. I wonder if he's thought of that.

Good work, Paquita.

I have a question about the justice system in Mexico: Do they have a version of double jeopardy? Would it be possible to re-arrest Hissadora on new evidence about the murder of the padre? They will ultimately get her on something, but the idea that this charge could go unanswered is wrong on every level.

It looks now that the only way to get her for the murders of Alonso and Ximena is by someone overhearing her talking with El Diablo. As for the murder of her first husband, I think it's a lost cause to expect her to pay for that.

Paquita- Fantastic job as always. I'm sorry you didn't get to see more of your Rodolfo. :(

Urban- They can also get Isa for the kidnapping of Camila, which is what the recording will prove, once it's cleaned up. And of course, she can be thrown in jail on the same fraud charges as Dio for their signed contract with the developers. Depending on how far she gets in her attempt to kill Cayetano, that might be another thing. They might still be able to get her for Padre B, as this was just a hearing to see if there was enough evidence to charge her with the crime, not the actual court hearing.

Anon207- Yes. Leo knows Al is dead. One of his many visitors told him soon after it happened. That's when he started to laser focus on getting revenge on Isa-- before that, he included them both, and Dio.

Carolina- "So just now Dan is figuring out that his and Camila’s plans don’t coincide? Good God. His plan to carry on with wife #1 doesn’t coincide, either. I wonder if he's thought of that." LOL! Dan is having a really hard time computing that by choosing Miriam, he is losing Camila, forever. And she doesn't want to be his amiga after he's gone.

Lots of good stuff with Teresa-Dante and Piedad-Hipolito. Loved the brother-sister talk, and the proposal scenes.

Thank you Paquita. Great recap and great name for Miriam. She does have that fair maid quality to her! More foreshadowing with sister-in-law possibility Luzma!

Speaking of Luzma, I feel so bad for her. It's harder and harder to see a good outcome here. I believe we will get there, but in real life this would take lots of time and lots of specialized therapy.

I was supertouched by the proposal. I like Hipolito, alway liked the actor, and thought it was so sweet when he told Luzma that he would treat her like a daughter and, oh, heck, she is his daughter. There's a girl who can use all the kindness and good parenting she can get.

Anselmo, what a guy. Such sweet advice for his sister. No priestly reserve there. He the new cura for a new day. (I love watching this while the world and my large Catholic family is awaiting smoke signals!)

This makes me wonder what the rather sexless Aaron will end up doing. Anselmo listened to Tere; Aaron listened to Dante. Very similar conversations, if Aaron puts a little more faith in fate.

And, as predicted, our dear Agustina is the worst spy that ever lived. Osvaldo needs to hear the end of the story that Camila started to share and wasn't able to finish and rescue her from this craziness.

Daniel is still under the (possibly) mistaken impression that Miriam is in fragile health. If that is really a lie (we don't know) it has to be exposed. We don't have a lot of episodes left.

Padre Anselmo is now getting close to being the perfect novela priest. I do, however, think that he needs to update his beliefs about pregnancy as a result of rape.

Urban- What was rong with Padre A's beliefs about pregnancy as a result of rape? I don't think you'll ever see a Catholic priest say abortion is ok. Not going to happen, ever. But even when Luzma was considering it, he never judged her on that. He told her to consider ALL the possibilities. At the time she was only thinking abortion or keep the baby. He's the one who gave her the adoption option, which was the option she was actually the most comfortable with.

Interestingly, Miriam spent this episode not concerning herself with or hovering over Daniel. She was up in the kitchen with Luzma wanting to learn how to make mole and wanting to bake Mariano some cookies. Has Miriam ever expressed a desire to make Daniel some cookies? When she overheard the truth about Daniel she was taking cookies to Dante. Has she ever made Daniel cookies?

I think Aaron is sexless. I don't think he has any interest in women right now and that's ok. It would be refreshing to see a character who doesn't end up in a pairing, and is perfectly fine with that.

Anon207- Miriam made Dan that special Chilean meal and cake their first evening in the Aculco house. And Dan is out all day playing with Camila, so she can't spend the day doting on him. Might as well make Mariano some cookies!

Vivi, a Catholic priest is not capable of appreciating the horror of being pregnant by a rapist. It's the worst personal invasion, especially for virgin raped by her predatory uncle.

Luzma chose this option because she was under the impression that she had to complete the pregnancy in order to get DNA proof that it was Leoncerdo who raped her. Giving up the baby for adoption made her feel better about this. However, she could have had an abortion in D.F. before the 13th week and the products of conception could have been analyzed.

Anon207, the idea of Miriam wanting to learn to make mole is interesting and points to a possible pairing of her with Mariano. It's the logical next step after the cookies.

ITA Urban regarding the rape. But for Padre A to change his stance on abortion would basically be him going against the Church. He might as well leave the priesthood if he did.

So, given the confines of his religion, I thought he reacted very well with Luzma. Other than Camila, he spoke with her in the most calm manner. Remember Piedad was calling the baby sucio, even though she wanted Luzma to keep and raise the baby. Camila told her if she decided on the abortion, she would be right there with her when she got it, but it was her choice. When Luzma did decide on the adoption, she told the Padre that it was the choice that was the least hard for her, because she was struggling with the idea of abortion, and it wasn't just related to wanting to wait for the DNA test-- it was also a huge moral struggle for her considering abortion. None of the choices were easy for her.

It just seems that Miriam's cookies are so special, yet we haven't seen her make them for Daniel!

I would think, for a Catholic priest, that terminating a pregnancy (no matter how the conception happened...rape, immaculate, premarital, etc) would be against their beliefs. I can't see a Catholic priest telling someone "Well, you were raped so it's OK to terminate the pregnancy." I don't think any religious leader of any sect/denomination/faith is going to support that.

Luzma would have been traumatized whether she carried forth the pregnancy or not. She (and Pablo) actually need to go to a counselor...even though her doctor told her it was ok for her to have sex with Pablo, she may still be under the influence of pregnancy hormones as well as dealing with the trauma of being raped.

At any rate, Luzma needs to be discussing her sexual problems with Pablo, not Irene. What would Irene know about sex?

One teetotaler virgin (Irene) giving another teetotaler virgin (Luzma is still a virgin in my eyes) advice on booze and sex, is a recipe for disaster. The previews show that this doesn't end well.

First cookies, then mole. Can love be far behind? Love it.

Anon207- Get out of my head! LOL! We're totally tracking today.

Many thanks, Paquita, for a great recap. I agree with you that Irene's advice to Luzma to loosen up with alcohol is likely to lead to problems. I think it's reasonable advice, but I doubt that a Univision TN would promote such an idea.

And yes, Dio's saying outloud the combination to his briefcase's lock was definitely a QTH beanie-tightening moment. My fear now is that he'll catch Agustina in the act of opening the briefcase. If she gets it open before he catches her, he'll probably find a way to kill her rather than just see her jailed for fraud.

I agree with all those who have applauded Anselmo's response to Teresa. Can we propose him as a candidate for Pope?

Juanita- Televisa/Uni didn't have a problem with Dante and Teresa falling into bed under the influence of too much wine. But neither of them has PTSD from a brutal rape. I think that's the key difference. (Plus, they are both experienced drinkers, and experienced with sex.) There is no telling how Luzma will react while under the influence, given all the surrounding circumstances.

After watching the scene where Agustina arrives at Dionisio's house, I have one thought. Magical suitcases. That's what TN characters have. That would explain why they can pack an entire huge wardrobe--they never wear the same outfit twice--into a single suitcase when they suddenly move from one home to another.

And speaking of magical wardrobes, I'm guessing Daniel keeps his inexhaustible store of charro suits at the Malquerida? The one today (somewhere between a light olive green and a tan) was a very sweet number. (I guess we're to assume that he had a few dozen made up for him when he was thinking he would be running the Malquerida with Camila? I hope the tailor's bill isn't one of those that's still to be paid...)

But one thing (of the many) I like about this show is how for the second half Daniel is regularly dressed up like a peacock while Camila is wearing her no-nonsense shirts and vests. I hate it when the women are stumbling around in the most inappropriate places and times wearing high heels and slinky dresses.

But I was ready to see Isadora released, just so we wouldn't have to see her in that awful negligee-like dress any more.

I too would like Roman to have his happy ending with Viviana and Rafa, but I would like that to take place with as little dialogue written for Roman as possible.

And I groaned as soon as I saw Roman standing next to the laptop. The soap cliche of a child accidentally deleting completed work is so, so old. I remember the same thing twenty-five years ago (seriously) on All My Children. So I was relieved when Vivi found that Roman had only minimized the file.

And don't get me started on the massive bandage Rafa has because of fragments of something in one eye. If he does end up blinded in one eye, and he's seeing the same doctor as Leoncio, he'll be wearing those several lengths of bandaging around his head for the rest of his life. I'm surprised they didn't feel a need to cover up his nose and mouth as well.

UtahDesert- We've had many discussions on this blog about the magical suitcases and boxes that tn characters transport their MANY belonging and clothes in. We all wish we could find those in the real world. Heck! We all wish we could have the extensive wardrobe tn characters have in the real world.

I also enjoy that Cam's wordrobe is fuss free and practical. Even the headbands, as frufru as they were, were practical, in that they kept her (product free) hair out of her face.

Camila was wearing the medallion again this episode. Maybe she wears it on days when she particularly needs help from a higher power-- when she was waiting for the vaccine to save Dan and the bulls, and now when she's praying that Isa will get locked up for good. So far, mixed results.

Miriam did NOT want to learn how to make mole, although you might think she was at least a little bit interested in learning about the national dish of the country in which she is a long term visitor and with which her husband has fallen in love with. I thought that initially, too, but I think I was just projecting how I would have acted in that situation. I checked the transcript. She asked what Luzma was doing and immediately changed the subject to me me me, making cookies and going with Luz to deliver them to Mariano. It was Luzma who said she’d like to learn how to make the cookies.

UA: “Daniel is still under the (possibly) mistaken impression that Miriam is in fragile health. If that is really a lie (we don't know) it has to be exposed.” This was a lie. Dio blackmailed the doctor to give the false diagnosis and a couple of episodes after Dan was told the false diagnosis it was confirmed by Dio that this is what he told the doctor to do. I don’t remember if he was bragging to someone (Isa?) or if he was thought bubbling, but after he heard about the ramifications of the false diagnosis, he indicated that he was happy that his blackmail had worked. There is nothing wrong with Miriam’s health. This doctor had given her a clean bill of health, short only a couple of test results that he didn’t think would change anything, before Dio got ahold of him.

Vivi, ITA that Padre A’s beliefs about rape and abortion are not out-of-date for a Catholic priest, even though they certainly don’t jibe with my views. He was perhaps more tolerant of the abortion option than most priests would be. If he were counseling his parishioners to get abortions, even rape victims, he would soon be an ex-priest. This is why I cannot see Aaron ever joining the priesthood; he has much more modern views of a lot of things, and I can’t see him towing the line on church doctrine as he would have to do as a priest.

UTD, lol at your wardrobe and bandage observations! I keep wondering, now that Miriam has made herself at home in Camila’s bedroom, when she is going to open the closet and see Dan’s stockpile of charro suits. I assume that he left them there. I know one thing, if I were apart from my husband for some months and then found that he had a completely new wardrobe and no longer had not a single article that I recognized, I would have thought that was really, really odd. No luggage that he had before, either. Surely she would have noticed that he seemed to have come from Chile without anything?

Carolina- There was a conversation between Miriam and Dan after he agreed to move to Aculco. She asked about why he was wearing the charro suits, and he said because he likes them. She acknowledged that he looks good in them, but then firmly said they would have to buy him new clothes once they moved into town (and he ceded his part of the ranch), since he would NOT be living the ranch life anymore. But you're right that before finding out how Dan really got to Mexico, her questions should have also included, "And what happened to all the clothes you surely packed and brought with you from Chile, before you started dressing like a native?"

The suitcase thing is definitely a QTH moment. Trunks are more in order for at least half of all novela characters (the women, that is).

Roman will be adopted by Vivi and Rafa; I'm sure of that. The first thing they need to do is give him etiquette lessons starting with the one about the Inside Voice.

All I know is that my dear hubby has the oddest attachments to certain items. He would never go on a trip without some of his old things. Not to mention that some of his socks and underwear date back to the last century. What wife wouldn't immediately notice a 100% new wardrobe, shaving kit, luggage, shoes, socks, as well as the honeymoon outfits, leather jacket and all the other clothes he's been wearing?

Paquita, thank you for your usual fantastic recap. I wasn't surprised that Isa got away free. She still needs to attain BV and try to kill Caye.

I suppose that Leo doesn't have proof that Isa cut out his tongue, so that may not be an avenue to convict her.

The only way that Luzma will get over her problem is with therapy. The avances basically tell us that too.

I don't understand on TNs when they have women wear completely inappropriate clothing for daily tasks. Like Teresa helping Mariano with the furniture and Teresa helping her brother with the mess from the roof cave in. Doesn't she even own a pair of pants?

Also pertaining to Teresa, telling your brother about your sex life? I can't even imagine telling my brother about that. Not to say that people can't or shouldn't have that kind of relationship with their brother. I just wouldn't dream of discussing that with mine.

Also, per avances, I hope that someone walks in on Dion and Isa kissing. Caye would be great.

Aggie has the biggest anvil hanging over her head that I've ever seen on a TN.

Hissadora could not have cut out Leoncerdo's tongue without the assistance of at least two of El Diablo's henchmen. More likely three. It just needs for one of them to act as a stool pigeon.

UtahDesert, I loved your comment about Rafa's bandage!

UA and Carolina, yes, Carolina, Dio somehow intimidated the doctor into saying that Miriam was in very precarious health. But I thought Dan had then made an appointment with a second doctor to get confirmation. Apparently that meeting never took place, though I don't remember why not--was that when Dan fell ill with the virus? But now that he's well, I hope he goes ahead with plans for a second opinion.

UA, yes, Isa had Omar hold down Leon while she did the deed, but no one is going to talk.

I can't remember if Dan mentioned the second opinion or if it was just our opinions that he should get a second one. But I know that he never did it.

Dan is the one who spoke with Dante about getting a second opinion. But just like with trying to break Al's password, he was sidetracked by things like the bull virus.

Paquita: Love your recaps. Thanks.

I don’t think Teresa thought about helping out at the site. She just hurried to see her brother.

Teresa and Anselmo’s relationship is a little bit different because he’s a priest. I know she said she wanted to talk to him as a sister, not a parishioner, but that was probably because she didn’t want it to be an official confessional thing she would have to make penance for. However, the fact that he is a priest—and probably her priest—makes it easier to talk to him about things “normal” brothers and sisters wouldn’t.

In this whole TN, I’ve never heard Dio say his briefcase combo out loud. It seems the closer we get to the end, the more beanie moments.

Loved that Hipolito gave the Laz yell when Piedad accepted him.

From the avances, I think Luz has finally pushed Pablo into NG’s arms.

Here would be a twist. This TN ends with these matchups: Cam/Dan, Miriam/Mariano, Teresa/Dante, Rafa/Vivi/Roman, Amanda/Os, Iago/Ileana (they deserve each other), Rodolfo/Nat (she doesn’t deserve him), Rocio/Cayetano, Dorotea/Eleutario. But Pablo and Luz break up.

Nanette

Another matchup: Tolotino/Irene

Unless Iliana gets hold of those drops Isa has, a hookup between her and Yago is never going to happen. He can't stand her. But they do deserve each other.

I would cry if at the end PabLuz isn't a couple anymore.

muchisimas gracia Paquita.

What more proof does Leonicio need, he is tongueless & he saw Iza carving on him?

Also, was that a trial Iza had or a hearing to determine if there s/b a trial? If not a trial it wouldn't be double jeopardy if she was charged again.

I believe either Pablo or Luzma will be the next and last person to die before this TN ends. Slaughter of the Innocents, you might say.

Anon 2:29: I hope you're wrong about Pablo and Luz. However, I do think we're going to lose one more good guy. Agustina, perhaps?

Now I feel like eating some cookies....mmmm cookies....

On a serious note Agustina is in trouble, either she a. Ends up in jail for fraud or B. Dies, I don't see this ending well for her, why why why did she never question the need to have a license to sell the life insurance?

Elle- She did. But then Dio said, "don't you worry your little head about that", and she let it go.

I want some cookies now too. :)

New Pope just elected-- seems he's the first non-European Pope, and he's from Argentina.

Breaking News: New pope, Francesco I, is Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenas Aires (age 76).

Back to our story, I agree with Elle.

A Latin American -- very cool!

I can't stand the idea of Camila losing anyone else. I keep hoping that Osvaldo will get the story and get her out of there!

I feel, too, that the Pablo-Luzma future is very dim right now and worry that she may be the good guy that won't survive. Please, no, writers.

I think that Pablo and Luzma will make it. One of the themes has been love overcoming obstacles. The writers are just trying to scare us. Damn those script writers!

I think the proceeding against Isa was like our grand jury. It was to determine if there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial, only instead of a jury, it was just a single judge making the decision. If it works like ours does, if more evidence is found, charges can be brought again without double jeopardy.

Is anyone else starting to think that Yago might get the old kibosh with the old anvil? That would tidy up a lot of things in a hurry and the world would be a better place.

Or does anyone else think that Cayo and Rocio will both be redeemed enough to be together again? I see them both as basically good but flawed people who have done stupid things. They did have an enduring and successful marriage (with a few bumps along the way) until the she-devil came along. Assuming Isa get her just desserts, I wouldn’t want the two of them to both be single in the end.

Wouldn’t it be fun if Piedad ended up pregnant? She’s probably no older than early forties, so not too likely, but, hey, it’s TN Land. Anything can happen, right?

And I would love to see Caridad indulge her secret passion for bad boys and run off with Omar. ;) Then they could do a sequel all about how that didn’t work out.

Thanks Paquita, very well done.

As much as I enjoyed seeing Isadora in that dress, I'm so glad that she's going to get out of it a get to take a bath.

Variopinta,

I'm with you. Leoncio has no tongue, Isadora cut it out. Case closed.

Next!

Carlos

Vivi, you are right she did ask and just never followed up on it, big mistake.

I love how they are working with Rafa and Ramon, the scales in his eyes are now making it possible for him to spend time with Ramon, so maybe this will be what leads him to shed the scales in his heart and change his mind about the adoption.

They have to save Caridad for Abewhen he gets out of prison.

Great recap Paquita, thanks a bunch.
I've probably missed something or misunderstood something because I don't understand why so many in Viewerville thinks that Miriam should wonder why Dan's closet doesn't include any of his wardrobe from Chile.i Does she think he had those things with him in prision, packed them and then flew to Mexico first class? If that subject comes up, why wouldn't he just tell her the truth about how he arrived with just the clothes on his back.

Foxy, now that Miriam knows that Dan was in prison and how he got to Mexico she wouldn't wonder. But for a long time she didn't know how he got there and thought he had packed a bag and flown and yet she never wondered. That is what I thought was odd. I sure would notice something like that with my husband. Miriam does come off as very clueless, beyond anything that can be explained by the coma and being out of the loop.

That truth will come out; the truth always does. Just as they will have to find out that El Diablo blackmailed the doctor.

I'll be signing off now. I'll be at a Bach concert tonight. His Mass in B Minor, believe it or not.

Paquita - Thanks.

What a great brother Padre Anselmo is, advising Teresa without laying a guilt trip on her. Plus he's so cute. I'll bet half the female congregation has a crush on him.

Niecie: The actor's been my fav since MEPS. Was bummed he played a priest in this one, but glad he survived through (I'm assuming) the whole novela. Not so lucky in STuD and CME.

Roman (or the actor who plays him) is sooo annoying! This TN should practice "children should be seen and not heard" when it comes to him. Let him be adopted, let him help, let him play with Ana ... but, please, do so from afar.

Maybe Dio said his briefcase combination out loud on purpose, hoping to trap Augustina when she tries to open it. They didn't show this was the case, but you never know with him.

Rafa with one eye patch ... cute pirate!

Padre Anselmo would never counsel someone to have an abortion, of course, but if Luzma had decided on that course of action, he would be the first one there to counsel her and help her through the after-effects (along with a therapist, of course). He would never turn his back on any of his parishioners, regardless of what they had done.

Teresa was dressed inappropriately to help Mariano move and her brother at the orphanage, but each time it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, not planned. If she had made plans to do those things, I believe she would have been dressed accordingly.

Fabulous recap, Paquita, as always:)

Vivi, I'm with you. I'll cry too if Pablo and Luzma break up. I don't think it's going to happen. That would be way to cruel after everything Luzma's been through.

"Teresa was dressed inappropriately to help Mariano move and her brother at the orphanage, but each time it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, not planned. If she had made plans to do those things, I believe she would have been dressed accordingly."

ITA Anon 6:56. In fact, we saw Teresa in jeans and boots the time she was with Aaron in the fields of his new self-sustaining community. That was obviously a planned visit.

Paquita--Extremamente agradecida. Casi Rodolfoless--for you it is like a day with only a teensy peep of sunshine. Gracias for the amazing recap. I needed to read the scene at Viv & Rafa's with Camila and Dan. It tore at my heart strings. Yes, he's being a bit selfish, thinking he can go back to Chile with Wife #1 and Cam will wait for him. Notez Bien: Still no one has talked about divorce. Is Cam really going to send him back to Chile a bigamist? You'd think they would both need to discuss his marital status.

BTW--I was doing my own LOL with Teresa helping at the Orfanato in heels and a skimpy dress. My take is that she didn't have access to Dan's quick-change phone booth before they bolted out of Amanda's hostal.

Dio was certainly inconsiderate ordering Gussy to fix a fancy meal on what, a couple of hours advance notice? I would have walked out on him right then and there.

UA--agree with Carolina. We know Miriam's health to be a lie. We watched Dio compromise the doctor. It's Dan and the Scoobies that don't know it's a lie.

Dio's bag of tricks is bribery and menacing, followed by physical threats. He so has kept his hands clean, the rat.

I'm down to Vivi's comment about the medallion now. I know she's been wearing the cow skull ever since the formal break-up. Is she wearing both now?

Carolina--Remember that Dan was washed up on shore with nothing but shirt and pants. Everything else he acquired on the way to Aculco. He even acquired the medallion he gave to Camila after he got to Mexico. There's no reason for MM to have recognized any of his clothes, but it was a LOL funny comment anyway.

Foxy--You said it & posted it before I did. I only saw your comment after I posted (about Dan's virtual suitcase not making it from prison to Mexico).

Anita- She wore it one episode and then took it off. But she's wearing it "today" (in tn time) so look during tonight's episode. It hangs below the bull's head, into her cleavage, so it's not obvious.

I think Carolina's question was about why Miriam at first (before she knew about the prison break) wasn't more curious about why Dan didn't have his familiar clothes and other items-- not why Dan didn't have those those things. The audience knows why, but at first Miriam wouldn't have known why.

I don't have a husband, so I wouldn't ask, but I see Carolina's point. Miriam did ask when she first moved into the MQ bedroom where all his stuff was. She looked in the drawers and the bathroom. That's when Dan did that whole song and dance about staying in a far part of the hacienda for his privacy. And I already mentioned the time she asked about the charro suits and insisted that would change once they were off the ranch.

Vivi, you are right. Now I remember, Miriam was told that he had been by her side for most of her pregnancy and coma and had only been gone a week or two. She did remark on the absence of his regular clothes. Color me red and pink. I'll look for the medallion tonight.

Thanks viewerville for comments clarifying Dan's wardrobe issue. (2 heads always better than 1)
:-)

I thought I was the only one who found Roman annoying but didn't say so because I didn't want to sound like an old meanie. Now I don't feel bad because since Vivi adores him he's going to luck out in the long run.

Are we going to see Alonzo's mother again?

Foxy--Probably we won't see Rosario again, unless she and Isa run into each other in the prison yard.

Vivi--I kept trying to look down Camila's shirt tonight, and NO, Carlos, don't get any impure thoughts. She was wearing the medallion. I wonder how many other days I missed it. Obvio she has held onto a little piece of Dan and I wonder that he hasn't pointed out that she's wearing it and what it symbolized for both of them.

Sorry to cause so much confusion about Dan's clothes. And thank you, Vivi, for explaining what I meant.

Miriam asked where Dan's clothes were when she first was looking around her bedroom at the MalQ, and of course they weren't there because he was shacking up with Camila. Auggie, bless her heart, had them sent over to the bedroom in the big house. But Miriam never said anything about all of his clothes and other possessions being new and unfamiliar to her. If my husband suddenly had all new underwear, let me tell you, I would most definitely be QTH!

Carolina--He could have LIED and said the airline lost his luggage!

If they do get a second opinion on Miriam's diagnosis, and a second scan shows no aneurysm (because there is none), wouldn't that blackmailed doctor be in hot water for his goofy diagnosis? Something like an aneurysm would show up on a scan, right? And so the presence or absence of it would be pretty cut and dried, right? So if Dan goes back to him with the second image and asks to see the first image, and it doesn't show a aneurysm, then he's just about as screwed as he was with the dead abortion patient that Dio blackmailed him with, right? Or am I missing something here?

Oh, wait a minute. I just realized what I am missing. My beanie. :)

Anita, lol! Now you're thinking just like our darling Dan!
