Amores Verdaderos #137 Thu 5/23/13 Lunch with a Milkman and a Bodyguard
Ballsvanera Mansion Foyer: Arriaga is sitting in a chair patiently waiting for Victoria. When she emerges, whipped Arriaga leaps to his feet, commandeers her brief case and tosses it over his shoulder. As she gives him their itinerary for the day: office and lunch with Carlos, Adrianna runs into the foyer and tells her sister that she wants to talk to her about something important. Intent on keeping Arriaga at an employee/employer distance, Vicky informs her bodyguard that he will have to eat in the Meta Imagen cafeteria and orders him to wait in the truck for her. Once Arriaga exits, Adrianna gives Vicky the opportunity to share her news first; Adrianna's news will require her sister's undivided attention. Victoria tells Adrianna that she is having lunch with Carlos Gonzalez.
Ballsvanera Mansion Driveway: Disney Princess Lilly tells Arriaga that Guzman called her from New York. She's told him that Victoria's back and informed him of everything that's been going on in the Ballsvanera House.
Ballsvanera Mansion Foyer: Victoria tells Adrianna that Carlos asked about her. Adrianna tells Victoria that she got the director of photography job for Conny's movie and she's meeting him for dinner later. Victoria congratulates her sister.
Kendra's Apartment: KENDRA...HAS...ON...CLOTHES! It's a floor-lengthed night gown but, it's a good start. Kendra is b*tchin' at Nelson. He slept with her last night and doesn't understand what more she expects from him. She wants more of him; she wants him to be a father. Nelson is aware that Kendra only wanted him to stay with her because Vicky came home last night. Kendra doesn't deny it and accuses Nelson of being in love with his wife. Nelson won't leave his wife until he gets a bigger share Meta Imagen stock. After Nelson leaves, Kendra tells her stomach that she's tired of being knocked up and wishes the baby would come soon. She's sure that Nelson has lost interest in her because her belly is swollen. She wants the baby to come so it will take Nicky's place in his heart.
Mexironto: Nikki, Omar and Roy are still hanging out in the "Mexironto" studio. They are drinking and warming themselves by the light of a fake winter fire. Roy shares the diagnosis about his arm with his wife. He will need rehab and radiation treatments. Roy wants to return home and recover in the Ballsvanera mansion where there are servants. Nicky suggests that the stay in the condo that his parents gifted to them. Roy speaks slowly when he reminds his wife that he MAAAAARRRRRRIED HEEEEEEERRRRR FOOOOOOOOOR HHHHHHHHEEEEEEER Diiiinnneerrrooo! A light finally comes on in Nicky's head! So, the condo's not real? Nicky is dumb -I mean shocked. Sorry for the Freudian slip. The condo belongs to his father's friend. Nikki, wearing a light rayon or cotton "suede coat", refuses to go back. She tells Roy that Guzman and Disney Princess Lilly are engaged. Omar enters the scene sporting a grey felt/velvet pea coat. He's told the ITF (International Tennis Federation) that Roy is on the injured list. The two men leave before the press show up. Nikki wants to know why Guzman chose Lilly over her. She's way prettier and has a lot more to offer him than Lilly does.
Ballsvanera Greenhouse: Victoria had to run off for the day, so once again, Adrianna decides to force herself on the hired help. She visits Disney Princess Lilly in the greenhouse; however, Lilly (displaying her naturally inheirited narcissistic personality trait) highjacks the entire converation by analyzing every excrutiating detail of Guzman's call. A servant, named Goyo, delivers an gift to an exasperated Adrianna, who has not been able to say anything about herself. It's a bouquet of DVD movies that Conny has directed. He is so not the romantic. Disney Princess Lilly thinks that Adrianna has got a boyfriend. Adrianna reveals that she hasn't met him yet.
Restaurant: Victoria and Arriaga have arrived at the restaurant for her lunch date with Carlos. She is shown to her table while Arriaga remains at the entrance near the voluptuous hostess. Victoria hangs her purse on an awesome miniature coat/purse rack next to her chair. Carlos has changed back into the casual clothing (a baseball cap, a white polo shirt and jeans) that he was wearing earlier in "Jocelyn's" apartment. He's enters walking with a slight pigeon-toed limp and acting like a bumpkin. He is far from the refined gentlemen who was at the liquor store making at date with Adrianna. The two embrace, but there is no emotion in his eyes.
Meta Imagen Reception Area: Nelson and Salsero arrive at the office. Nelson asks for his wife. Beatriz tells him that she went out for lunch. Nelson tells her to give him the heads up when Victoria returns. Salsero stares longingly at Beatriz. It's plausible that he has not noticed his sweetie's rapid weight gain through his dark rose colored sunglasses. But...how has he not noticed that she consumes fried shrimp dipped in grape jelly for lunch everyday? She's about four, five or six months preggers right? His jefe calls him into the office. Once Salsero is gone, Beatriz sadly recalls the day Salsero proposed to her.
Restaurant: The waiter brings cocktails to the table. Victoria and Carlos reminisce. Carlos thanks her for not choosing a snobby restaurant. After their toast, Carlos notices Arriaga pacing at the door. Victoria identifies Arriaga as her bodyguard. Carlos mentions that Arriaga looks grumpy. Victoria says that bodyguards are not paid to smile. Carlos looks at the menu and pretends that he doesn't know what escargot is. Victoria tells him that escargot is the French word for snails. Does Opiumlina know that her omniscient friends are part of the menu? Arriaga becomes increasingly irritated.
Mexironto: Nikki is busy writing yet another manifesto to Guzman when Adrianna calls. After having no luck with neither Lilly nor Vicky, Adrianna is certain that her niece will have time to chat about Adrianna's wonderful life since Nicky is simply honeymooning and traveling the world with her tennis pro husband. Adrianna always begins with a little icebreaker and asks about Roy. Nikki explains that Roy is out of commission. Nikki doesn't want to return to Mexico because Guzman is now hooking up with Disney Princess Lilly and they are going to be married. Adrianna tells her niece that once she married Roy, Guzman left town and never returned. She assures Nicky that Guzman is not involved with Lilly. Matter of fact, the father and daughter are still working at the house. Nicky hangs up before Adrianna can share her good news about her job and date with Conny. This is obviously not Adrianna's day for sharing.
Restaurant: It seems that the hostess has no shame and is blatantly throwing herself at an increasing disheveled Arriaga. He isn't interested. He's busy multi-tasking by both watching Vicky's body and mad-dogging Carlos. He angrily fidgets with his tie and yanks at his luxuriously wavy, jet black, thick hair. Gosh, I wish I were his fingers. Ahem. Ok, back to the recap. Unfazed by his rejection, the hostess prattles on. She thinks that his job must be way exciting. Her low cut blouse hints that she wouldn't mind if he would like to watch her body sometime. Vicky becomes distracted when she notices that Arriaga is not watching her body as intently as he could be.
Mexironto: Nicky calls Beatrice at Meta Imagen. It's imperative that she finds Guzman; unknowingly, she had left him with pieces of his heart and dignity and she desperately needs to rip them out of him. Because pregnant Beatriz is vulnerable and depressed, she doesn't assume it un-natural that the married woman that her brother adores is calling for him from her honeymoon, hoping to find him so that she can grind her other stiletto into his soul. Beatriz decides to assist Nikki in her quest to commit more adultery. She explains that Guzman went to Miami to find her, but once he determined that Nicky had moved on, he left and went to New York. Beatriz gives Nicky Guzman's contact information.
New York (Times Square) Photo Shoot: Looks like the beautiful people, Guzman and Amber, have another paying gig with the New York City Chamber of Commerce (they don't seem to do anything other than pose and walk around). Tyra, Amber needs more work on her smizing. Anyway, she's going to call him later about a theatre.
Restaurant: Carlos grabs Vicky's hand. She nervously removes it from his and glances towards the door. Arriaga is giving the two old friends the stink eye. Arriaga's tie is loosened and his dark, wavy, shiny, luxurious hair is mussed. He smells like Old Spice. I bet he smells like Old Spice. Carlos questions Vicky's relationship with her body watcher. He's noticed that she can't stop drinking in Arriaga. She excuses it by saying that she doesn't like some of the faces that she sees in the restaurant. She offers Carlos a lift back to his new "job" at the Wine and Cheese Shop. He's the new superliarvisor of the milk department.
Meta Imagen: An ark-sized exotic floral arrangement is delivered to the receptionist desk.
Hotel in Mexironto: Nikki boldly tells her husband that she has purchased tickets for them to visit New York in order to find her lover. I don't make this stuff up. OK, sometimes I do, but this time...I'm not. Roy's got his pride, he doesn't want to be both cuckold and a mooch. It's either one or the other. Besides, Guzman's dating Disney Princess Lilly. Nicky tells Roy that Disney Princess Lilly and Guzman were never hooking up; it was all a lie. Once Roy hears that he has a shot with Lilly, he gives her endeavors his blessing and tells his wife to follow her dreams of being an open adulteress.
Ballsvanera Kitchen: Disney Princess Lilly fears that Guzman will be mad at her when he discovers that she lied to Nicky. Polita will teach Lilly how to catch Guzman.
Odd-ette's Bedroom: Estefano has not seen the viral YouTube video of Kendra outing him to the restaurant patrons. Odd-ette is unconscious so at the moment, she's probably in a pleasant mood and open to having a reasonable conversation with her guilt-ridden son about his sexual orientation. I think he should go for it. Estefano kneels at his sedated mother's bedside and kisses her hand. He tells her that he loves her even if she doesn't love him. Kendra calls to confirm Odd-ette's proximity to death's door. She plans on visiting Odd-ette shortly.
Hotel: After hearing that Disney Princess Lilly is still on the market, Roy now eagerly encourages his wife to hunt down her lover; however, Anilbal's money is still very important to him. He asks her to take the blame for the deterioration of their blissful marriage. Nicky agrees, gives her husband a kiss and tells him to never change before running out the door. Meta Imagen Vicky's Office: Vicky wants to know why Arriaga is so angry. He denies it. Vicky tells Arriaga to wait outside. On his way out, Gilda delivers the boatload of flowers to Vicky. At first, she thinks they're a gift from Carlos, but after reading the card, she realizes that they are from Nelson. Welcome back to the company, with Love Nelson. She tells Gilda to take the flowers to Nelson's office.
Meta Imagen Reception Area: Misery definitely loves company. Arriaga doesn't want to be bummed out alone, so he asks Beatriz if she's heard anything about her son. Arriaga wonders why Leo won't just put Guillo on the phone and let him talk to her. Beatriz is sure Leo has been bad-mouthing her to their son.
Farm: Guillo has a little lamb in a firm choke hold and is forcing it to listen to his annoying sobbing and bad acting. He has nightmares about his mother being in jail. She cries for her boy to free her. His grandmother eavesdrops on their conversation, yet, she does nothing to halt the horrific animal abuse. Where's PETA when you need them?
Meta Imagen Reception Area: Now that he's made a pregnant woman cry, Arriaga decides to give her a pep talk. Life sucks, he says. You married a complete loser, he says. You should have made better decisions in life. Obviously, Arriaga is no Tony Robbins. How is this encouraging?

The lamb tries to escape, but evil Leo ties him to a post. Tomorrow is Guillo's birthday. Leo is taking his son to the fair. That's all well and good, but Gullio wants his mother out of jail for his birthday. Leo tells his son that that wish is impossible. He lies and tells Guillo that Beatriz got caught with more than the necklace. Guillo collapses in his grandmother's arms and cries.
Carlos' Apartment: Jocelyn feels guilty about lying to Victoria. Carlos doesn't believe that Victoria will ever call him again after their lunch today. He gave an Oscar worthy performance as a hayseed. He hopes that Victoria won't be too peeved when she finds out.
Meta Imagen Victoria's Office: Vicky tells Anibal that she saw Carlos. She informs her father that Carlos is the superliarvisor in the milk department of a grocery store. Anibal says that Carlos always was and always will be a loser. Vicky becomes offended, because her father is a classist. She grabs her purse, brief case and some files and leaves him alone in her office. In the receptionist area, right on cue, whipped Ariaga runs over to grab her bags. At that moment, Nelson comes out of the conference room and confronts the two. Victoria tells Nelson to add Carlos to her long list of lovers.
NewMexico York: Guzman and Amber are having drinks in the foyer of a hotel. Guzman tells her that he is leaving New York tomorrow. The guy he was guarding went back to England and now Guzman is unemployed.
Ballsvanera Mansion: Ariaga's on a mission to depress everyone that he comes into contact with today. He tells Salsero that Beatriz really loves him, but it must be a bummer that they're temporarily separated. Arriaga does not realize that Salsero has already bottomed out and he like Arriaga, does not want to see happy people. Salsero reminds Arriaga that he will never be in Vicky's social class. Touche, Salsero! Touche! Even if he can defeat Nelson, Anibal will never allow a relationship between one of his daughters and a bodyguard. Arriaga is forced to admit that he is a simple peasant who now wants to slit his wrists, take an overdose and find a high bridge. Polita comes in and tells him that Adrianna is waiting in the living room. Salsero gets all misty over Beatriz when Arriaga leaves.
Beatriz's Apartment: After an uplifting afternoon with Debbie the Downer Arriaga, Beatriz called her mommy and asked her to go to church with her. They discuss the day that Guzman kissed Paula goodbye.

Well, we knew it was too good to be true.

Meta Imagen Reception Area: Now that he's made a pregnant woman cry, Arriaga decides to give her a pep talk. Life sucks, he says. You married a complete loser, he says. You should have made better decisions in life. Obviously, Arriaga is no Tony Robbins. How is this encouraging?
Farm: Leo has arrived home sporting a 1970's porn star mustache and a wig that Espanto (Kendra's hitman) would envy. His mother informs him that Guillo has been whining to the little lamb about Beatriz all afternoon. Leo calls for his son. Guillo appears with the tethered animal that has been subjected to all forms of degradation. Please donate to the ASPCA so little lambs everywhere will no longer have to endure Guillo. The lamb tries to escape, but evil Leo ties him to a post. Tomorrow is Guillo's birthday. Leo is taking his son to the fair. That's all well and good, but Gullio wants his mother out of jail for his birthday. Leo tells his son that that wish is impossible. He lies and tells Guillo that Beatriz got caught with more than the necklace. Guillo collapses in his grandmother's arms and cries.
Carlos' Apartment: Jocelyn feels guilty about lying to Victoria. Carlos doesn't believe that Victoria will ever call him again after their lunch today. He gave an Oscar worthy performance as a hayseed. He hopes that Victoria won't be too peeved when she finds out.
Meta Imagen Victoria's Office: Vicky tells Anibal that she saw Carlos. She informs her father that Carlos is the super

Ballsvanera Mansion: Ariaga's on a mission to depress everyone that he comes into contact with today. He tells Salsero that Beatriz really loves him, but it must be a bummer that they're temporarily separated. Arriaga does not realize that Salsero has already bottomed out and he like Arriaga, does not want to see happy people. Salsero reminds Arriaga that he will never be in Vicky's social class. Touche, Salsero! Touche! Even if he can defeat Nelson, Anibal will never allow a relationship between one of his daughters and a bodyguard. Arriaga is forced to admit that he is a simple peasant who now wants to slit his wrists, take an overdose and find a high bridge. Polita comes in and tells him that Adrianna is waiting in the living room. Salsero gets all misty over Beatriz when Arriaga leaves.
Beatriz's Apartment: After an uplifting afternoon with Debbie the Downer Arriaga, Beatriz called her mommy and asked her to go to church with her. They discuss the day that Guzman kissed Paula goodbye.
Ballsvanera Foyer: Adrianna is dressed for her date with Conny. She asks Arriaga to scan her body one more time before Conny shows up. Is this dress man-bait worthy? Arriaga tells her that she looks beautiful. Adrianna is not used to walking in high heels. As she walks towards the fireplace, she appears to twist her ankle on nothing. Ariaga leads her to a chair and massages her ankle. Adrianna wants to know where he learned his deep tissue massaging technique. His hands are Divine. Arriaga says that his father was an anthropologist and taught him all about orthopaedics. I swear that's what he said. Gosh, he's lucky that he's so good-looking! Vicky walks in on the intimate scene, but walks out before she's noticed.
Ballsvanera Living Room near the Stairs: Ariaga helps Adrianna back into her shoes. Vicky walks back into the room but before she can say anything the Disney Princess runs in and tells Adrianna that she looks great. The father and daughter leave the room so that the sisters can talk. The two sisters sit on the couch and discuss Adrianna's relationship with Lilly. Finally, somebody, who is not on the payroll is paying attention to her! Adrianna gets a call. Vicky leaves the room. Conny (who's wearing his ascot outfit again) cancels their date. Well, we knew it was too good to be true.
Ballsvernera Kitchen: Vicky is drilling Ariaga about his relationship with her sister. Arriaga tells Victoria that Conny sent Adrianna a bouquet of his movies. Romantic devil. Adrianna invited Arriaga to watch them with him. Lilly interrupts. She wants to go out for tacos. Adrianna comes in and says tells them that she's been stood up. Arriaga, (I am officially sick of him tonight) laughs at her because she was stood up like a "bride at the altar'. He's a gem. I can see why Victoria is obsessed with him. Disney Princess Lilly invites Adrianna to go out for tacos with them. They ask Vicky if it's OK. Credits.

Thank you for the great recap, Cynderella! I have not watched this one yet and enjoyed the detailed wardrobe descriptions. Sometimes the clothing is the best thing about an AV episode.
Seriously, I'm not sure I want to watch my recording. Sounds like a bunch of middle-school behavior and I might be tempted to throw something at the TV when JA is on the screen. (TelenovelaGods forbid!)

Thanks so much for the fun recap Cynderella. This was a funny episode actually. I enjoyed the whole scene with JA, Vicky, and Carlos in the restaurant, with JA pacing and glowering and Vicky walking a fine line between enjoying his jealousy, and not wanting to inflame it too much (quickly brushing off Carlos' hand-holding).
Oh, Carlos. You think you're the star of the show, but Vicky's mind is too occupied with another man to even think two seconds about you being a country bumpkin. You serve one purpose, my friend-- to make Vicky's lover and her husband jealous.
He did miss out on dinner with a very beautiful, all-grown-up Adriana. She looked great in that dress. Maybe she should have started out with a kitten heel instead of the do-me stilettos though.
I hope Vicky quickly realizes that JA and Adri are only giving off friend/sibling-like vibes. Adri already endured Nikki's jealousy for a bit when she thought there was something going on between Adri and Guzmi.

This epi was fun last night. JA and Ms Vikki were so funny with pretending not to be jealous. There was a lot of assuming going on too.
Ms Vikki is looking a mite jealous as far as Adri and the Angel go. Adri, Angel and Lili to those that don't know them look like a family. Ms Vikki is starting to wonder what she missed in her four months in Argentina. I like it that Ms Vikki is a mite jealous of what she is seeing.
I also like that the Angel is jealous of Carlos. He sees now, if he doesn't let go of his guilt, Ms Vikki will move on. Maybe Carlos will be the catalyst to make that happen.
I don't like Lili getting her hopes up about Frankie. I am afraid she is going to get hurt again, cause we all know that Frankie and Nikki can't stay away from each other, their love is too strong. Maybe after the Roy and Nikki work through the legal process of ending their marriage, Roy might get to work on getting Lili back. I think he really is in love with Lili.
So Anyballs now knows that Carlos is back. Anyballs still can't stand Carlos. I wonder if Anyballs will do anything about that?
I don't like the fact that Carlos/Joan is lying to Ms Vikki, I really think she won't be too pleased he did this "I'm still poor routine", and I'm still as I always was. Look what happened when she found out the Angel had been keeping the Kendho and Nellie a secret.
I'm wondering if Adri will recognize Carlos/Joan. If he really hasn't changed, even though Adri was little, she could still recognize him. Hmmmmm
I had to laugh about the escargot being on the menu. I too thought of Opalina when they were mentioned, lol.

LOL Cynderella - I haven't read the whole recap yet, but I got a big kick out of "Victoria hangs her purse on an awesome miniature coat/purse rack next to her chair."
The finer dining Mexican restaurants around here (US side of MX border) supply those purse rack stands. The waiter will deliver one to the table with great flourish if he sees the lady carrying a purse. I guess they're proud of them :). I always get a big kick out of it - and handy too! In fact, we're heading to our fav nice Mex place for lunch today, and I plan on hanging my purse!

It will have to be Arriaga that breaches the wall first--he's the one that put the skids on taking the next step in their relationship. So Lump It Big Guy, until you realize what he could lose. You need to have your guilt expiated. You need a trip to Opalina and the Padre.

I like how Arriaga started the meal looking like a million dollars, but by the end of lunch, he looked really unkempt. His hair was messy, his tie undone and his shirt was unbuttoned. He looked awful.
I think Vicky pulled her hand away from C/J because she didn't want to make Arriaga mad enough to charge the table.

Cynderella - thanks for the truly fun recap. Loved so many of your comments, but my favorite was, "Vicky becomes distracted when she notices that Arriaga is not watching her body as intently as he could be." She is so jealous, even if she isn't admitting it.
The jury is still out on Carlos/Yawn. Sometimes I think he's definitely interested in rekindling his romance with Vicky, but other times he just looks like he's studying Vicky, planning some revenge.
