Amores Verdaderos #142 Thu 5/30/13 The Low One Kicks the Bucket, and Jhoannn Is So Busted
* Lo refrito: Victoria is comforting her baby girl.
* Lo nuevo: in the morning Vicky informs Adriana about Nikki and Roy, and she asks Adri to support her niece. Of course, says Adri, but now please tell her about what happened between her and Carlos. He kissed me, answers Vicky, just in the moment when the Angel enters the room. Arriaga pulls his trademark sad look, and tells the ladies that the car is ready. Vicky looks very uncomfortable, but since she's fed up with the Angel's guilt, she decides that she won't give a damn. When Arriaga leaves the room, Adri starts gushing about the great Joan Constantín whom she'll meet in the afternoon: at last they'll sign her contract! The happy Jhoannn-fangirl tightly hugs Nikki, who just entered the dining room. They are adorable.
* Leonardo the Low (who looks like a guy who was watching Amor real reruns in the last 4 months, and now he's practicing for a Mauricio Islas lookalike contest) calls Bea at Meta Imagen, and tells her that he and Guillo are in Mexico City. How about a nice, private meeting? No way, says Bea, let's meet in a public place. As the camera zooms out, we see that the Lowlife isn't alone, he's surrounded by his ugly goon friends. Great, this means Bea is running into a trap again... but fortunately Hilda/Gilda/Whatever heard the entire conversation, and she immeditely calls Salsero. Dances with Sunglasses and Arriaga get into a car, and they quickly drive to the park.
* When Nelson joins his hopefully-soon-to-be ex wife and his daughter in the kitchen, Victoria states that this would be the perfect moment to tell Nikki about his amante (lover). Nellie isn't fond of the idea, so he quickly flees from the crime scene. Neta asks her mom about qué the hell happened to her daddy, and Vicky informs her that 1. Kendra Ferreti is his amante, and 2. she's carrying his baby. Boom, boom, boom! Nikki's jaw drops to the floor, then she freaks out and starts crying.
* Daddy Felipe visits Frankie to tell him that he can't hide the truth anymore: Guillo is still with Leonardo. Guzmi is impactado. One and a half seconds later he becomes even more impactado because he gets a phonecall from his fellow supersuper bodyguards about Bea and Leo. The Little Ape he runs out of his flat and joins Salsero and Arriaga in the car, where Salsero tells him that this isn’t the right moment to bitch about the secret that was kept away from him. In the meantime the Lowlife and his nice pals arrive at the park, and what a surprise, it turns out thez have weapons. Uhh-ohh, I have a bad feeling about this.
* Mezcalitos, Guillo and the dogs are collecting trash. The little boy enjoys the treasure hunt, but it's obvious he's eager to call his mother. The old beggar looks conflicted, and he begs to God not to take this child away from him.
* The members of the SuperSuperTeam agree that Leonardo is just as dangerous as a wounded animal, so they can't call the police. They have to solve this problem on their own, so they sneak into the park and they're waiting for the right moment when they could ambush the Lowlife.
* Kendra switches into Terminatrix mode, and she confronts Nabila in front of her friends at the fitness club. You slut, you’re sleeping with Nelson Brizz! Nabila points out that it’s the pot calling the kettle back since Kendho’s going to be a single mother, so the Barbie doll kindly informs the model that Nelson is the father of her baby… and then she tosses her into the swimming pool.
* Big action scene in the park. Sorry, I’m too lazy for it, so long story short: crazy Leonardo tries to abduct Beatriz again, the supersuper bodyguards attack him, Leo’s henchmen pull some fireworks and a gas bomb (or something like that), Betty falls and hits her head into an iron pipe, she faints, the bodyguards and the gangsters pull their guns out, the supersupermen perform great martial arts movements, then Leo almost kills Salsero, but fortunately the policemen interrupt him.
* In the meantime Nelson and Aníbal have a totally pointless conversation about Candelaria, Cristina and Liliana. FF -->
* Kendho is finally at home, and she’s still fuming about Nabila, who dared to call her an aging, failing model. But worry not, she can enjoy her affair with Nelson… because she won’t live for long. Normally this would be the moment when the villana performs an evil laughter, but Kendra’s thoughts are interrupted by the doorbell. She opens the door, and whoa, it’s Nikki! Neta came to fire insults at the lying witch, and to tell her that she isn’t interested in the girl she’s carrying. She’ll never ever be her sister, captas, or should I explain it with apples, muñequita (little doll)? After Nikki leaves, Mia also decides to tell her mom that she’s an idiot, and now Kendra is in pain. Uhh-ohh, is she about to give birth?
* The Low One points his gun at the unconscious Betty, and it seems he’s determined to kill her and himself, too. But finally a policeman shoots him into the chest, and Leonardo dies looking at his wife.
* Candelaria visits Paula, her newest best friend to give her some medicine. Paula feels very tired and she’s in a very bad shape. Later Felipe also shows up at her flat, and informs her about Bea and Leonardo.
* At the Balvaneras the Ikkis are talking about Kendra (whom Neta hates with all her guts) and the ugly family secrets that taint their lives. Then Neta tells Vicky that she loves Frankie soooo much… and why can’t they be together if they love each other so much? *Viewerville: well, maybe you shouldn’t have married Roy, you know. Just sayin’.* Victoria hugs her daughter, and she’s wondering about the same thing.
* Kendra is talking with Espanto on phone about “how to solve a problem like Nabila” when Nelson shows up at her flat. He wants to scold her for telling Nabila (and her friends, and the people at the fitness club and the world) about their baby, he calls her pathetic and he curses the day when he got her pregnant… but then again, Kendra has another contraction. The Furminator starts to panick.
* The supersuperteam is in the hospital, where a doctor informs them about Beatriz: she’s okay, but the baby is in danger. WHAT BABY? She’s pregnant? Qué? Frankie and Salsero are shocked. But Arriaga? Not really, because he knows about (almost) everything and he’s a perfect guardasecretos (guardaespaldas = bodyguard, guardasecretos = the one who guards the secrets). Salsero would’ve killed Leonardo if he had found out that he raped Beatriz, that’s why she never told him about the pregnancy.
* The police visit Leonardo’s mother and tell her the news. She’s devastated. Viewerville doesn’t give a damn about her pain.
* Adriana is at Jhoannn-Carlos’s flat. They are talking about the script and the project, and in the meantime they’re firing interesting glances at each other.
* Kendra and Nelson are back from the hospital, she won’t give birth yet. However, she starts playing the victim again: she’s fed up with those awful visits, like Nikki’s! Please tell them to leave her alone, she can’t take anymore! Oh God, now she’s crying, and Nelson believes every word she says. Don’t worry, he’ll talk to Nikki. Kendra’s crying turns into a satisfied grin.
* At the Balvaneras Nikki asks Roy about why he’s in such a bad mood. Because his father wants him to work with him in his company. But he won’t, he’s leaving his home and he’ll stay at Omar’s flat. And how’s everything with Guzmán, asks the Boytoy. Oh, it's terrible. He’s dating the supersuperman’s daughter. Oops, that’s bad news for Roy.
* Later Polita and Vicky tell everyone about what happened to Beatriz. Liliana runs into the hospital, and soon Nikki and Roy follow her to support Guzmáncito.
* Arriaga gets a phone call from Adriana so he drives to the director’s flat to pick her up. Upstairs Adri proudly introduces him to the talented Jhoaaannnn Constantín… who looks exactly like that annoying LactoNerd who almost turned José Ángel into a vegan. Jhoannn-Carlos looks busted, and Arriaga looks really relieved and amused.

And the funny behind the scenes photo of the week:
Labels: Amores
In Mexico this episode had the highest rating (32.5) in the history of AV.
Loved the clip!! In fact, I have watched it several times now - EY is not only handsome but seems to have a great sense of humor (and it looks as though Erika does too!)
I've missed a few episodes and need to catch up on the previous recaps. I will thank all the recappers in advance for what I know will be amazing summaries.
So much happening - I can well understand why the ratings were so high. You got an excellent episode Aribeth and know you will do it masterful justice.
Since you mentioned it in the title, I'm sure nary a tear was shed for Leo (except of course by his mother who does not elicit a scintilla of sympathy from me). Adios Leo - you lived well past your expiration date.
Loving the little jealousies between Vicky and JA, but seriously, is Carlos any sort of formidable threat for her heart? doris, I believe it was you who noted Carlos looks like Paul Newman and you are right. However, there appears to be no charm or charisma to the character (at least in his scenes with Vicky). The only real smile he gave last night was to Adriana. Perhaps her true love is not returning after all?? Did he really expect to keep up 2 separate identities between the 2 sisters? Beanie time.
Glad Nicki and Roy came to their senses. While Francisco and Nikki are sure to be together, the future of Roy and Lili looks murky. If JA goes off the handle thinking Francisco and Lili might get together, his acceptance of Roy seems impossible.
Looks like fireworks tonight.
Can't wait to read the recap and everyone's comments...
Diana
The writers really sped things up last night. Yay! Leo the Low is good and dead. Bea's storyline is really a separate telenovela. One challenge for her down (Leo), quite a few to go: her and the baby's health; finding Guillo; Paula dying; and Salsero's shady past (when it finally comes to light).
Can't wait for your always marvelous recap!
Hurray the low one is toast, er, pushing up daisies, er, dead so dead. We on the Patio are celebrating. No mourning for us. Finally the anvil he so richly deserved. Now I am just hoping Betty pulls through.
Loved the screencap and also the little clip you put in.
So glad you are back! How is your brother doing? I liked what you said about the low one being way past his expiration date, lol.
Doris:
Whenever a villan dies now in a TN I always think of Ding Dong, insert villan's name, is dead, lol.
Worried about Bea's injury....
Bad way for Guzman and Salsero to find out about her being pregnant. I don't believe it will deter Salsero. He is in it for the long haul.
Tonight's epi should be interesting as the Carlos/Joan(Yawn) unmasking plays out. The "Lacto Nerd" (lol) misplayed his hand.
I'm glad you're back and hope that things are going well in your family.
So. The writers kept teasing us with Mount Kendra last night -- it looked as if the basketball was going to deflate at least twice. And then NADA.
I guess they filmed Leo's demise in SLO-MO because they knew how much everyone on the Patio would enjoy it.
On the other hand, it was excruciating to see Betty's head hit that metal pipe.
According to the previews, tonight is the night that Nikki and Frankie finally clear the air. (Of course that will probably happen at the very end of the episode and we won't really know anything until Monday.)
Aribeth:
Thanks for the screenshot and the clip. Looking forward to your recap.
I noticed that, once again, Kendra referred to Nikki as Mía's "hermanastra". Literally, that would mean "stepsister". There is a different word for half-sister: "media hermana".
But it seems that even if stepsister and half sister are clearly different in English, the distinction is less clear in Spanish. Fellow Word Nerds -- here's a Wordreference link with a discussion of this topic:
http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=372215
Kendra now is going to have Nabila killed. There's no question in my mind that Kendra will face a bad end, but what will happen to "Mia"??
Barbara
Thanks for the nerdy reference. I always get the two mixed up the half-sister/step sister.
Barbara:
I hope Mia isn't raised by that wench. Whenever Kendho meets her fate, I hope Mia is in the arms of loving people who will raise her right.
I am happy to be back and looking forward to catching up on everything.
Diana
Diana--Your Adios Leo - you lived well past your expiration date - has been added to the Collected Wisdoms of Diana. The first 16 episodes are ready for publication.
Maybe with this 90+ degree of wet heat will inspire me to prepare and publish our first and so far, only Meta*Mart Special 3-Color Insert in our favorite gossip rag, Amores Verdaderos--Romance o Novela.
Balzac (hehe) will be waiting for you on the Patio for leftovers or to use the insert to piddle on.
Whether Bea loses her baby or not, I wonder if Salsero and Bea would raise Kendra's baby. We know FF doesn't want her anywhere near him to besmirch his Balvanera social and professional reputation. I don't know if he would care if Salsero took Mia, but Salsero should just look for another job--and soon.
Too bad apoplexy wasn't enough to kill of Nelson. So many things would be resolved if he was out of the picture.
Will wait for the recap for any further musings.
I was also singing "Ding dong the witch is dead!" and bouncing up and down and clapping with glee in that death scene (I make myself sound like a psychopath). Thank you, director and writers, for getting that over with and letting us savor it. If Bea hadn't been in a serious condition, too, I think Frankie would have been doing a Snoopy happy dance.
I'm also glad Salsero didn't go the usual telenovela route of assuming Bea had cheated on him and having a snitfit when he found out she is pregnant. Nice that the bodyguards sorted that out quickly.
Too bad it hasn't occurred to Nikki to ask ANYONE else in the household (besides Liliana and Polita) what's going on between Lili and Guzmi.
I'm also thrilled that Carloser's stupid double identity plot is going to be uncovered so quickly.
I think Nikki is still too immature, and she might not like raising the child of her traitorous father and friend. If JP and Stef had Mia, Nikki could still visit and have a relationship with her sister, but with a little distance and after she's had more time to adjust.
and you have a great one to work with--the death of Leo the Low. YEAH!!
Vida2---I enjoyed reading your comment reply to my post yesterday
It was so well thought out.
Diana---Glad that you are back on the Amores team and that Marc is in recovery mode/doing well.
Julia---The demise of Nelson's liver. Good one.
I guess that Leo had few, if any on his side---a 32.5 rating. WOW!!
Vivi---Your comments are always so well thought out and in depth. I wish that I had the ability to analyze things the way you do. I don't know your occupation but if you are a teacher, no doubt that you would be the best in the school. If you have a job of helping people or counseling, the line of people applying for your help would be lenghty for sure.

Collective sighs of relief from the patio at the news of Leo's passing have been wafting through the breeze all day. Unfortunately, the momentary relief is giving way to massive anxiety for Bea, her unborn child and her missing Guillo. The anvils still hover over Salsero and a few are proceeding cautiously toward Paula. How much more can she bear?
Susanlynn, I like your idea of Estafano and Jean Marie or Julia's idea of Adriana adopting Kendra's child. Any of the other couples JA/Vikki and Nikki/Guzman would also work.
Diana
OMG! she was ready to start swinging. Poor Mia. How can that baby survive?
the gringo
Meanwhile! Lowly is DEAD!!! Party on the patio! I hear JM is bringing by a dozen or so trays of petits-fours and who knows what else fabulous delicacies. There will be hours of music and dancing, and if anyone slips off to the horse barn with their favorite telenovio/a, we'll just pretend not to notice ;).
Just want to ask about the low one, although I'm glad he's dead does anyone think that was too easy for him? Maybe I'm a little crazy but for some TN villains I get more satisfaction seeing them in prison getting beat up or when they end up horribly burned and disfigured. For Leo I think I would have rather seen that but maybe I'll change my mind when I watch the episode online and see how he dies.
Also I LOVE the idea of Jean Marie and Estefano adopting baby Mia! Good one Julia! I think that would be the best scenario because they would certainly love her and welcome her as a blessing. I think for some of the other couples mentioned it may be a little difficult to welcome the child of the demon woman who tried to destroy their lives.
I'm glad it was the police officer who shot Leo, and not Salsero. Bea won't have to live with the mental conflict of Salsero having killed him, which is what she was afraid of. I really thought Salsero was going to at least get wounded in that battle.
Did anyone else notice that in the background, there was a guy sitting on a bench in the park not too far away, totally ignoring the massive brawl and police intervention going on behind him?
"...but what will happen to "Mia"??"
I take dying declarations and last words by TN characters as glimpses into the future, much like the assertions of the snails.
Cristina's last words to Kendra as she was leaving for her meeting with destiny (and Espanto's bumper) were that she hoped that Kendra's child would be born as healthy as her own daughter had been...DONG!
Diana, it thrills me to hear that Marc is recovering and of course I hope that Brian continues to do well.
Carlos
"He should just start crying more...then the old guy will be in a real hurry to get rid of him."
Heh heh.
Carlos
Julia - "Dump Daddy" lol.
I want to see Kendra suffering behind bars. Death is too good for her.
Now that Nelson's affair has been outed everywhere, it's ridiculous that he still gets to stay in the mansion.
It would technically be harder to kick Nelson out of the mansion if it belonged to him and Vicky. But it belongs to Anibal, and he can kick whomever he wants out at any time. But Anibal chooses to keep the jerk around while he works out his "plan" to get him out of their lives. Vicky has started the divorce proceedings, but Nelson refuses to sign and keeps fighting it.
It's time for Vickie to put her foot down with Anibal. I thought it was funny when Vickie was giving very sensible reasons to Carlos about why she can't get involved with anyone new now, cause she would throw all of those reasons out the window for JA.
I think Kendho needs to spend awhile in jail, disfigured and crippled. Then she can die so no one has to worry about her getting out and seeking revenge.
You know the funny thing about that video clip, besides Big Ed's mischievous expression, is how Erika just causally looks over to see who it was who just grabbed her butt. No shocked expression or a jump. She just carries on with her interview and just glances to see who the offender was.
ITA that the police shot Leo; we can avoid that whole arrest scene.
Wonder if Bea will make it.
Yes, that's what I was laughing at, too. :) She turns around with a casual "oh, it was just you" expression on her face. (A friend of mine said that in her opinion Era turned around only to find out if it was Eduardo or Lisardo. :))
The members of this cast got along really well. For example, the show ended almost a month ago, but yesterday Lalo, Erika, Natalia (Adriana) and a crew member called Alex (he's on every second behind the scenes photo) had a lunch together.

link2
Second part, as good as the first.
Hmmm, how did Adriana manage to be taller than Nikki in that hug?
Well, now we know why Gilda was never fired. She was key to alerting Salero, in this episode. We all figured she was kept around (by the writers) for a reason when Anibal did not fire her.
Oy vey, pobrecito de Roy. Daddy wants him to get a traditional job. In an office. Too bad he doesn't know how any of the 99% would love to have that opportunity.
Thank so very much for this fab recap. I so enjoyed it and all the screencaps too. Everything has already been said, but I wanted to thank you again : )
