Amores Verdaderos #153 Fri 6/14/13 Nikki Does the Unexpected; Anyballs' Plan; Joan/Carlos and Adri Get er, Cozy!
Happy Father's Day Y'all!
The Balvanera Foyer of All Things Pertinent:
Anyballs is in a mood, when is he ever not in a mood? Things haven't quite gone as he'd planned. FF has wandered home in his dishelved state, all that time in the hospital ya know. Anyballs warns the FF he wants no publicity about this Mia, as in no pics and no speaking by Kendho to the press of her being the Mother of Mia either. FF reminds Anyballs he knows all of his secrets, about Lili and wouldn't Adri like to know. Anyballs recommends that Mia be put up for adoption as that would be better than FF or Kendho raising the child. FF is pithed and takes a swing at Anyballs, but for a man advanced of years, Anyballs is pretty quick and stops him. FF reminds him that he also had an illegtimate daughter (Cris) out of wedlock! Anyballs doesn't want to be threatened and FF warns him it's a promise cause he can tell that to everyone anytime! Ms Vikki comes down the stairs and isn't happy to be seeing what is going on. She wants to know what the heck is going on here? Anyballs tells her it has to do with Nikki and FF is now curious about Nikki too. Anyballs gets right to the problem, er his problem he knows all about Nikki and Guzman! FF has been kept in the dark and wants to know the skinny on that too! FF of course, turns to Ms Vikki and wants to know what is going on here? Now Nikki and Frankie (Guzman) decide to come in at about this time, laughing and carefree. Meantime, Polita and Tomi are at the top of that staircase and the Angel and Lili are about to come into the foyer but stop. Just setting the scene. Nikki is so happy everyone is gathered together in this foyer, that would be Ms Vikki, FF and Anyballs even though Ms Vikki knows what is coming. Nikki takes Frankie's hand and informs the gathered family that she is in luurrrvvvve. They smile at each other and smooch right in front of them. This is when the Angel and Lili are about to come into the foyer and stop. They are both shocked by what they are seeing! Same with Tomi and Polita at the top of the stairs! Nikki now informs the assembled family members that Guzmancito is no longer her bodyguard, but is her boyfriend and they are soon to be married. FF is beyond pithed! He tries to yank Nikki away from Frankie, but Frankie stops him.
Meanwhile, in the corner, there is Lili and Angel and Lili of course is crying, she so didn't want to hear that! Angel still can't beleive what he is seeing. FF is letting his bile spew, by telling Nikki so you were married for four months, dumped the hubby, and hooked up with this guy! Ms Vikki tries to be the voice of reason and Angel takes Lili's arm and they make their way to the Balvanera kitchen. Tomi and Polita, however, have not given up on this show!
Frankie is trying to explain, FF tells him to just callate(shut up)! Ms Vikki urges calm but of course now it is two against one, like in FF and Anyballs taking sides by telling Nikki they are not having this rich/poor relationship! The new improved mature Nikki stands up for herself. She tells them she will not be doing what they want and Frankie jumps right in and says he loves Nikki and that's a fact! This is a double tag team effort, so FF jumps right in and reminds Frankie he is merely an employee and nothing else! Nikki continues and says oh, it's better she married Roy to help his family financially, well, she isn't a little girl anymore! Go Nikki! FF now forbids her this relationship! Nikki tells him he has no say in the morality department, and he backs up as she is speaking to him. Ms Vikki grabs the FF's arms and she steps in front of him as she says she is very happy that Nikki is happy and she is supporting her in this decision. Ms Vikki and Nikki smile as the FF and Anyballs looks like someone smacked them upside the head.
Balvanera Manse Support Staff Kitchen:
Of course, Lili is now a puddle of tears and Angel is trying to comfort her. Of course she is crying, about what else, Frankie! Now her nemisis (Nikki) is marrying Frankie and now he will never be hers! Angel tries to reason with her and tells her that is just the way it is. She thinks this is all her fault starting with the lie she told Nikki over the phone when she called that time. She explains the phone thing to him, and even throws in that she forced a kiss on Guzmancito and now the Angel is quite upset. All Lili is really worried about is that Nikki and Frankie are going to be married and she just wants to die! Angel tells her not to think that way and lies never are good. Lili sees reason and tells her Papa how good and righteous he is and he wouldn't lie, now would he? She thinks her Papa wouldn't even know how to lie, he's that good. Lili hugs her Papa Angel and he is looking mighty guilt ridden!
Meanwhile, Back In The Foyer:
FF pulls Ms Vikki away from Nikki and FF tells her very well, then! Nikki tells them nothing and no one is going to change her mind! Of course, being the materialistic bumbling boobie, FF is thinks that Frankie is after Nikki's money! Wrong! During this little confrontation, Tomi and Polita are still up on the top of the stairs and the look on Polita's face is priceless! Tomi is just as shocked! FF, being the money grubber he is, says Frankie knows that Nikki, being a Balvanera Brizz, stands to inherit a fortune someday. Frankie disagrees of course and says it's all about love, not money. FF can't beleive this concept,and he wants her out! Okay, so what is FF still doing there? Hmmm..... he's the worst offender if I ever saw one! Even Nikki wants to know why he isn't out of the house too! Ms Vikki tries to stop him from doing this to no avail. Nikki takes her car keys out of her bag and says since the FF gave her that car as a present, she doesn't want it anymore, she isn't like him, cause she is going, and she wants nothing, absolutely nothing from him and throws those keys right at him! Nikki assures them that she and Frankie will be just fine, they have their love to sustain them. Anyballs tells her she can't live on love alone. Well, Nikki doesn't want a thing from the Balvaneras or the Brizz'. Nikki has made up her mind. She is going to live with Frankie and soon she'll be Senora Francisco Guzman and she tells Frankie it's time to go. He says yeah, let's go home! They go, while Ms Vikki is calling after them and Polita and Tomi are just bowled over by what they have seen and heard!
After The Confrontation:
Anyballs is pithed and doesn't think Nikki knows what the heck she is doing or thinking. FF agrees with that, but Anyballs brings up the fact that Lili is will be so hurt, which sets the FF off and Ms Vikki too. Ms Vikki is miffed cause he seems to be doing a lot for Lili lately in protecting her, that is. FF isn't happy about that cause he knows the real reason that Anyballs is likin' Lili lately, but doesn't say anything. Ms Vikki tells them she is going to give Nikki her full support and goes off. Anyballs and FF are so not happy.
Kendho's Place and Puchis The Errand Boy:
Poor Puchis (Santino) has done the shopping for the Ho. She wants him to put it all in the kitchen and put it up I think. Puchis is not gonna do that! He isn't the maid. She has a magazine she is thumbing through and Puchis wants to know what she is looking for. Things for her and FF and the new abode they will have. Puchis gives her advice and tells her to focus on Mia. Kendho informs Puchis that Mia is merely a means to an end, ya know as in getting all she can out of the FF. Puchis is disgusted and goes while Kendho is telling him to come back, and then talks to herself about his past and he better not bother her!
Bus Stop:
Frankie and Nikki are happily hugging and smooching after that horrid confrontation when Ms Vikki catches up with them. Zambrano must be watching the house, cause she has the gate guard with her. Frankie and Nikki are happy to see her. Ms Vikki just wanted to catch up with them, to tell them she is happy for them and supports their decision. Nikki wants Ms Vikki to have Tomi pack up her stuff and send it over to her new place with Frankie, but she wants nothing from FF or Anyballs. Ms Vikki will do that. Here comes the bus, which Nikki and Frankie board and as Ms Vikki waves goodbye to them, she can't beleive she would have ever seen the day that Nikki actually took public transport!
Joan/Carlos Love Nest:
OOOO, looks like Adri and Joan/Carlos have gotten busy, as in en flagrante! Adri feels like this is a dream. She confesses to JC (Joan/Carlos) that when he called her about the movie, her heart went pitter pat, besos to that! She also tells him she talked to Vikki about liking him and that Vikki gave the go ahead for her to have a second chance at love. JC is an admirer of Vikki's decision and admits she is one strong woman and not only that he did pine for her for twenty five years. He wants to know about Adri's past love, still in her heart? Well yeah of course, but hey she and JC are together now and more besos and more en flagrante.
Angel and Ms Vikki in Her Art Room:
Angel is conversing with Ms Vikki. He says that Lili is so very upset about Frankie marrying Nikki. Ms Vikki can't beleive their daughters are in love with the same guy. Angel explains to Ms Vikki that Lili's love started for Frankie the night of that fire and that Frankie of course saved her, she's been thinking about him ever since. She's just miserable now, over this news. Ms Vikki completely understands but feels Lili will find another guy to love. Angel agrees with her, but wonders if they can ever form a family. Ms Vikki seems to think so, but the Angel is kind of unsure.
At Home with Frankie and Nikki:
While Nikki is looking through the kitchen cabinets, checking to see what they will need. Frankie is getting ready to go job hunting. Nikki just has one request, no guarding of other women's bodies. He laughs and says it wouldn't matter if he had to guard Ms Universe, he is still all Nikki's. The doorbell rings and it's Tomi with a suitcase of Nikki's things. She kisses Tomi, thanks her and all three go into Frankie and Nikki's bedroom to see about putting stuff up. Well, seems the closet is tiny and doesn't hold much, Frankie's stuff barely fits in there. Nikki even looks under the bed to store stuff, but that is cramped too. Nikki doesn't know what she is gonna do, cause Zambrano brings in more of her things. Well Tomi has a suggestion, just pull out what you absolutely need and leave the rest in the suitcases. They all look around the room and laugh.
The Henchies Come to Meta Imagen:
Gilda and Betty are at the reception desk and Gilda is so happy to have her good friend Betty back at work. Betty is so happy to be back. Gilda asks after Guillo. She is happy to have him back. Betty also tells her about her upcoming wedding with Santino! Gilda is very happy for her. Well, here come two henchies that would like to see Don Anyballs if you please! Gilda wants to know what their bidness is and they say Odiodette sent them. Hmmm.... She has them have a seat while she goes to Anyballs' office to see if he'll see them. The one henchie is really nervous about them mentioning Odiodette's name, but the other henchie says it will be like opening a door to get in and he wants the henchie to zip the lip. Gilda comes back and escorts them to Anyballs' office.
Anyballs is in his office wondering about what these two bozos want. They come in his office and he wants to know why Odiodette sent them. Well, seems she didn't really send them, and they don't work for her anymore, but they have some important info for him. They tell him about setting up that video equipment to tape Angel and Ms Vikki, ya know that scandulous DVD. So the gist of it is, they want to work for Anyballs. They are now independent henchies, doncha know! Anyballs isn't interested in their "services". The one henchie, the really smarmy one, gives Anyballs a slip of paper with their cellphone numbers, just in case he changes his mind. Anyballs tells them to get out, and they go, with one hitting the other on the head. After they go, Anyballs does takes that slip of paper and looks at the names. Seems they are called Arturo and Ribaldes. So Anyballs tucks this slip of paper into his suit jacket, cause ya never know when you might need a good henchie and he smirks!
Back At Frankie and Nikki's Place:
Now Frankie is really going job hunting and Nikki gives him a kiss for good luck. He assures Nikki he won't be gone long, but she'll be alone. She tells him not to worry, she'll be fine. They cuddle a bit as he tells her he really needs to find a job! Later, they show Frankie job hunting.
FF at Meta Imagen:
FF is having a little meeting with Renato, the photographer and Santino is also in the room. This meeting is being held cause it seems that Renato has found a replacement model for poor Nabila. Renato is on it and goes. Now the FF gets a call from the Kendho with an update on Mia. Seems she is doing well and isn't that great! FF agrees, but Kendho isn't liking his 'tude cause he isn't thrilled! He tells her it has to do with Nikki. Well what about her she wants to know? Well Nikki has now hooked up with Guzmi! The Ho reminds him she warned him Guzmi was in love with Nikki and he didn't beleive her. Shetells the FF that Frankie is a gigolo. He says she is right, but of course the Ho blames Vikki, he was her hire after all. FF tells her Anyballs isn't happy about this and Kendho "feels" this is the biggest mistake of Nikki's life. Well Kendho has a solution to this little problem, Ruh Roh. She suggests that the FF cut off all of Nikki's funds! Well of course FF thinks this is a splendid idea! Besides, he isn't gonna help them out, they won't get a red centavo from him! Which begs the question, does he even have centavos????? I thought all the dinero was the Balvaneras? Santino has the same thought as I do, cause he has heard and thinks to himself, you poor bastard, keep listening to the Ho and see how she'll ruin you.
Nikki Takes A Little Trip:
You will never guess where Nikki is? Viewerville is aghast and has to take a sip of their cognac, Smirnoff, Bailey's, juarever! cause Nikki is at the grocery store! Who'd a thunk it? She's even buying items for a recipe from her cell phone! She even picks up some bubbly and vino and also some gourment items like lobster and salmon. Well, she is done now and goes to the checkout, where the clerk asks her how she will pay. Credit card of course. Well the clerk runs it through and guess what? Denied! Nikki thinks there is some mistake run it through again, she does, still denied. So Nikki tries another card, and it too is denied! Nikki has her Aha! moment and figures out that her loving Tatito cancelled her credit cards. So she has a water she has been drinking and she has just enough cash in her wallet to pay for that, so the grocery guy takes the basket back and Nikki leaves. Pobrecita! Now she'll learn how to live within her means.
Angel and Betty:
Angel is talking to Betty and asks after Guillo. He is great but lots of schoolwork to catch up on. JC comes in and asks to see Ms Vikki. Angel isn't too happy and JC gives his name as Joan Constantine! Angel of course dogs him and wants to know what he wants with Ms Vikki. They have a stare down!
Anyballs Makes A Call:
Anyballs is on the phone with Ms Vikki's divorce lawyer. He even has a snifter of cognac as he talks to the lawyer. He tells her lawyer that this "bastarda" (Mia) has caused so much drama and is proof positive of FF's infidelity and now it's time to move this divorce quickly!
Meta Imagen Ms Vikki's Office:
Angel comes in to announce that he's here. Ms Vikki wants to know who the he is? Carlos Gonzales, that's who. Well, Ms Vikki didn't know he was coming but let him in already, Angel really isn't happy about this, but motions him to come in. He does, Ms Vikki smoochies Carlos' cheek, while the Angel's jealousy comes off him in waves and he paces and sulks. Carlos wants the Angel to relax and Carlos is lookin' kinda scared. Well Ms Vikki has Carlos have a seat and tells Angel to wait outside. Angel goes, slamming the door, which Carlos is still looking at like QTH. He motions at the door all funny faced and Ms Vikki tells him to take a seat already! He has come to tell her about the movie he is thinking of making "Amores Verdaderos" , and it's almost like an autobiography. He got it anonymously but feels she tried to pull one over on him, cause he really thinks she wrote it! He does tell her he likes the book very much. She can't beleive it. She knew nothing about it. But she does stress it really isn't an autobiography, but Carlos thinks that Jose Alberto is the spitting image of the Angel! She admits some of it is true, some artistic liscense. She doesn't mind if he makes it into a movie, but please to avoid problems, he says he'll be discreet. He tells her really no problem, they can change her name as the author or also use Anonymous and she'll still be paid for the book, cause he'll draw up a contract. Ms Vikki doesn't need no contract she tells him, she'll take him at his word. But he wants to do everything above board and legally. He also doesn't like her ending with the bodyguard. He feels she should change it to reflect running into her first love, Hmmmm..... but she doesn't want to change anything.
Meanwhile at Betty's Desk:
The Angel is pacing and verklempt. Betty is asking him what's wrong with him and he says nothing. Here comes Gilda with a tray with a cup of coffee, and Angel just takes it from her and starts to go to Ms Vikki's office with it, that coffee was meant for Anyballs, when Carlos comes out and says bye to him and calls him Jose Alberto! Well, Angel wants to know why he called him that, well Jose Alberto/Arriaga what's the diff? Angel insists he is Jose Angel Arriaga if you please and pulls on Carlos' ascot, you can tell the Angel is disliking that ascot and Carlos removes it so as not to be choked by the Angel. In front of everybody in that front lobby, Angel informs Carlos, in a loud voice to boot, that Ms Vikki may be his boss, but she is also his woman! Betty is so shocked she covers her mouth with her hand. Here comes Ms Vikki out of her office, and Angel gives her a wide eyed stare and the Angel can't beleive he said what he did! Carlos puts his ascot back on, it's safe now you see, Ms Vikki is there and Carlos tells Angel he really doesn't need to say anything else. Angel sort of, kind of bows to Vikki and tells her he is sorry. Ms Vikki tells Carlos to come back into her office. While Carlos goes back into Ms Vikki's office the Angel starts the pacing again.
Back In Ms Vikki's Office:
Carlos cant' beleive Ms Vikki is the girlfriend of such a jealous guy! Ms Vikki says that the Angel is most transparent and that he doesn't lie, wink, wink, nudge, nudge and of course that is a point in his favor. Carlos wants to know if she has given any thought to who she wants to play her in the movie. She trusts his judgement to pick someone qualified for the role. He also needs Ms Vikki to collabarate with him on the movie. She likes the idea, but Carlos wonders if this will effect her relationship with the Angel, ya know the jealousy factor?
FF and Anyballs Have a Meet:
Anyballs is advising FF to accept the divorce from Ms Vikki. FF of course, isn't going with this, and reminds Anyballs he still has alot, er he knows alot of Anyballs' secrets that he can still blab about! Anyballs reminds him that with ADN (DNA) proof, they can tell FF is the Papa and Mia is proof positve of FF lyin', cheatin' ways. FF says no divorce, too bad. FF goes on to toot his own horn, about this Ultrabelle account being all his, he got the company much moola, and it's a huge success. I think he also said that wasn't bad for a guy that has only been the General Manager of Meta Imagen for six months. They are partners in other words! Anyballs dangles the promise of meeting FF's demands if he signs the divorce papers. Ok, now FF caves, but there is one little stipulation, he needs help with breaking Guzmi and Nikki up. No worries, Anyballs has no intention of his Princesa marrying some poor guy. He tells the FF that he has cancelled all of Nikki's credit cards and her bank account too. No more moola. He is also going to make sure that Frankie will not be able to get a job, and also Nikki won't be able to get any modeling jobs, sound familiar??? FF wants all these conditions met, or he'll tattle to everyone about Lili and he goes. Anyballs thinks to himself, soon FF and Nikki will see just what he can do! How craptastic! Anyballs strikes again!
Betty is Busy as a Bee:
Sick of seeing the Angel pace, well, not really, but Betty has a job for Angel. She gives him some stuff for Renato, and she needs him to pick up some copies she was having done, Betty can't leave the desk at the moment and Ms Vikki will be needing a copy of that stuff Betty is having copied, so he goes to do that. Busy fingers, less pacing, jus' sayin'. Cande picks this moment to come into Meta Imagen, just as the Angel turns the corner, he doesn't see her. Betty has her take a seat, cause she has to see if Anyballs is free, cause he was in that meeting with the FF. Cande sits, but is very uncomfortable. She is afraid that either Angel or Ms Vikki will see her and she so doesn't want that. Gilda, meanwhile, pops into Anyballs office and tells him Cande is here to see him. He tells her to send her on back.
Anyballs' Office:
Meantime, Anyballs is thinking how Cande worked with that nurse at the clinic lo those many years ago and Anyballs doesn't want her to reveal anything. Cande comes in and Anyballs tells Cande to have a seat and Gilda goes. As Gilda leaves, she thinks about how if Cande and Anyballs get back together how Ms Vikki would feel if she knew that Cande is the Mama of her half-sister Cris, may she rest in peace, I said that not Gilda.
Back to Carlos and Vikki:
Ms Vikki is sure there will be no problem with the Angel, she is happy with the collabaration and thanks him. He is very happy to be working with the Balvanera Sisters! She also tells him about her little chat with Adri and for Adri to take a chance with him. They have a nice hug, but unfortunately, Angel pick this time to come into the office. He is eaten alive by jealousy, cause they were hugging, and takes that pile of copies and dumps them on Carlos' feet and the Angel wants to know what the heck is going on here???? And here is where we end this epi.

Mads I'm still in the middle of reading this exciting recap, but just wanted to point out two small errors before I continue and forget. Lili admits to JA the kid she forced on Guzman. And Nikki throws her car keys at Nelson because he gave her the car as a gift. That's why she and Guzman then had to take the bus. Ok. Back to reading.
Great recap Mads. That little dance JA and Carlos were doing was funny. JA certainly let that secret out of the bag within the office. Hopefully, only non-gossipy people like Betty were in earshot when he yelled out that Vicky is his woman. Luckily, Vicky seems pretty chilled out about JA's jealousy.
The nerve of Nelson and Anibal! Such hypocrites. I did chuckle when Nikki picked up all that expensive gourmet food and liquor and had her cards denied. Yes, time for a dose of reality and learning to live within a budget. It will be good for her.

Had to laugh at Nikki's menu for dinner - lobster and salmon. And then her credit card was denied! What a dose of real life this girl is going to get. Riding the bus once or twice is fun, but zero storage space for your haute couture clothes and no money or credit is a cold splash of reality.

I think that in the previous episode Nikki was talking to herself in Guzman's 'kitchen' (the size of a Balvanera's broom closet) that she had to get a book to teach her how to cook. Next we find her shopping stuffing all sorts of food and drink items in the basket. I think she put two bottles of wine and two bottles of bubbly in addition to the salmon and lobster. The bill had to be at least a hundred dollars if not more depending on the bubbly label. She must have downloaded a cookbook on her Kindle because the only she knew how to do was open those bottles. Will Guzman come to her rescue or will she call super-mom to tell her of her plight? Live within a budget? The girl has no idea of what that is. Anibal has to kick the bucket before he cuts her out of the will. She is going to need that money because luvve is not going to cut it for her. She needs a bigger apartment and lots more cash to stay in a good mood.

The best moment of the episode -- the unscarfing of Joan. Haven't we all wanted to just rip that thing off Mithter Lithp's scrawny neck? Go Big Angel!
The most troubling moment of the episode -- seeing Adri in bed with Joan and knowing she is going to get her heart broken. Again.
I loved Nikki's Annie Hall Goes to Market. Personally I think she's going to adjust nicely to living on a budget. For one thing, Frankie isn't exactly living in the slums. For another his little apartment offers privacy and a refuge from the battleground that the mansion has become. And most important, Nikki is NOT a grabby, acquisitive kind of person. Up to now, she has just not been paying attention. She had no reason to. Now she's finding out what things cost and I predict she'll be quite happy eating pasta primavera with the love of her life.

The most troubling moment of the episode -- seeing Adri in bed with Joan and knowing she is going to get her heart broken. Again.
I loved Nikki's Annie Hall Goes to Market. Personally I think she's going to adjust nicely to living on a budget. For one thing, Frankie isn't exactly living in the slums. For another his little apartment offers privacy and a refuge from the battleground that the mansion has become. And most important, Nikki is NOT a grabby, acquisitive kind of person. Up to now, she has just not been paying attention. She had no reason to. Now she's finding out what things cost and I predict she'll be quite happy eating pasta primavera with the love of her life.

I think both things will happen. Nikki will at first struggle, but will eventually learn to live within her means. I'm sure the adjustment part will be amusing. Oh, and she needs to learn how to work and then do it.
This conversation reminds me of something the CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour said in an interview about the late JFK Jr (the son of the late president). She was reminiscing about their friendship at Brown University where, as upperclassmen, they shared a house with two other students. She said, if memory serves, that John had to be taught the most basic things about independent living -- like how to clean the toilet, say. But he learned. And from the way Amanpour told the tale, it was one of the happier times in his short life.
Ah, JFK jr...What a tragedy in a family haunted by tragedy. He was so handsome. Whenever I saw him, I saw that small boy saluting his father's casket. So sad.

This is great, Madelaine. I really enjoyed this episode. Last evening we went to the wedding of a little girl I delivered 23 years ago and read your recap this morning at the hotel we stayed in overnight. I couldn't wait to get home to see Nikki ride the bus and see Nikki in the supermarket. She was simply delightful every time she appeared on screen.
I think my favorite moment was when she was given the change when she paid for her water. She looked down at the coins in her palm and made a face as if she had been handed something the cat coughed up. I'm pretty sure she dropped them on the counter as she turned to leave.

NM - lots of young adults have no clue how to do anything. Thirteen years ago at our son's college freshman orientation, the parents were taken to a different area for *our* orientation. I was appalled at the parents who were asking why the university couldn't/didn't provide (for a price) laundry service, housecleaning service, etc. for the students. Hel-lo?!? It was time to let those kids grow up.

He finally retired , and I must find a new doctor. Many in his practice are women now, but it started out with just two men. What is up with the IPad changing words? It changed gyno to Gino.

Thanks everyone. Yes, attending Courtney's wedding was very special for us. She and her brother Cody (born about 30 min. before she was) were two of the last babies I delivered.
Speaking of babies, I was fully expecting that Kendra's Mia would not survive but now that it seems certain that she will and will most likely thrive I am very concerned of what will become of her. Of our characters who would be the best parents for her since there's not a chance in the world that Kendra will get out alive?
After thinking about it for awhile and even compiling a list of all possibilities, my favorite choice is for her to end up with Opalina as a single parent.

Just back from breakfast with friends, and I am glad to see that some of you answered my question. Doris and Cyn, my second choice would be either of those galans you ladies mentioned that Big Ed played. My third choice would be Marcos, DOn Luis 's sweet ,hot boy scout of a bodyguard in Alborada...not the abuelokilling Tialover he played in Amar sin LImites. Cyn...I didn't watch those other novelas , so I don't know those characters. I do , however, remember smarmy, greasy Gambino...Ick. I never want to meet him. OT: There is an episode of Columbo on tv right now (slow night on tv) from 1975. Columbo is in Mexico (really), getting into all sorts of trouble and investigating alongside Mexican cop Pedro Armendariz (LFDD). Ricardo Montalban plays the murderous matador/bull fighter. There are a bunch of other Mexican stars in it, some we have seen in tns over the years. The main characters speak elegantly accented English, but everyone else speaks Spanish, with no subtitles, meaning the original U.S. audience would not have been able to understand all the side conversations. Columbo, of course, speaks no Spanish (or so he claims), which leads to all kinds of mishaps.

Nikki's and [Frankie's} closet, and the trip to the grocery store remind me of the reality show :
The Simple Life" wherein Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie were mercilessly but hilariously thrown into the "common people" everyday lives, It showed viewers how hard it is for rich spoiled girls to learn about the other life outside of their environment. Hopefully the tn writers make it hilarious for Nikki as well. Eiza is a good comedienne, what with her funny terminologies.
But really, whose fault was it for these rich kids to be as helpless and clueless about work, at home or elsewhere. The parents!!!! Novella Maven cited JFK jr had the same problem. Let's not even go to the rich people, Mommies(some) of first time college daughters here in L.A,(who are probably middle class sectors} collect their daughters' dirty laundry and bring them back fresh and clean!
Bottom line, Nikki will learn because of love and Frankie's love will sustain them if he will be patient. If there are problems it's because the tn writers decide to add drama to this new life of Nikki. I will not begrudge Nikki just because she was born rich.
Now about the Disney Princess, I wish for her to be lucky in love and quit obsessing for the wrong Prince. The advances show that she is fighting again with Nikki just like sisters do. I would be defending and fighting off anybody who would covet my love too if I were Nikki.

I enjoyed Nikki's foray into the real world. I don't really think she truly processed giving up her way of life until the cold hard reality of her shopping excursion set in. Thankfully, she will be able to rely on her beauty and model again (unless Anibal and Nelson ruin that for her as well).

I think it's pretty much assured that Nikki will eventually adjust to a simpler life, since we can assume she and Guzman will be together in the end. Unless Guzman wins the lottery, which I don't see happening. But I'm pretty sure she will not adjust to it easily in the beginning, which will hopefully lead to many amusing moments. But I also hope that it doesn't cause any major problems between Nikki and Guzman.
OT: I recently found out that Erika Buenfil was not the only one that was up for the role of Victoria for "Amores Verdaderos" the other actresses were Rebecca Jones (PVAA), Victoria Ruffo (Corona de Lagrimas), Maribel Guardia (Corona de Lagrimas) and Olivia Collins, who I've never seen in anything. Can you imagine Victoria Ruffo in this role? Not enough crying I think ; )

Oh, VR would have found plenty of reasons to cry, and would have let the tears flow. (She did have great chemistry with Odvaldo Rios in Triunfo though.) Olivia Collins would have been a good physical fit-- thin and blonde and snooty looking. But I think EB brings a playfulness to the role that fits well with EY's playful style. Not sure the other ladies could have brought that.
Oh Madelaine: I can't see any of those actresses as Vicky. At all.
I did read EY suggested Adela Noreiga (not sure if true or not), but that she wasn't interested. Physically, it would have been excellent casting as Nikki does look somewhat like her. However, although I am a big AN fan, I don't think she could have done this the justice that EB did. She's been perfect.

I agree that EB has the playfulness with EY and the fit is perfect. I too can't see any lady acting this part so well. RJ I enjoyed in PVAA but can't see her as Victoria, same with MG, I really liked her in UFCS, she has good comedic timing, but VR would have been good in the crying parts Vikki did, but I couldn't see the chemistry either. I did see something about AN possibly being Victoria, but I am glad they went with EB. She is just perfect for this role. I saw EB in Mar de Amor and while her character was BSC most of the time, she really brought it for that one too, even though that particular TN was a hot mess.

I think that Erika Buenfil has been the perfect choice as Vikki, however, if we are discussing other actresses who might have been good in this part, how about Laura Flores? I think that Vikki would have excellent chemistry with José Ángel as well as Aníbal and Nelson. Though I'm not quite as certain, I think she would alsobe a good fit for Nikki.

I'm glad it's Erika Buenfil in the role. It's a good fit. I'm glad it is NOT Victoria Ruffo or Maribel Guardia. I don't think they would suit the part at all.
Maybe once Nelson is out of the picture - and MetaImagen - Nikki will be hired to take his place. Not that she has the skills or knowledge, but she'd be on a payroll. No doubt she would probably be a grand success at it, too, once she learned the ropes.
Carlos: One of the most memorable moments in CS '09 for me was the death scene of Laura Flores who played EY's mother. I thought it was a powerful, wonderful scene and some of the best acting I've seen to date (despite the obvious difficulty in her playing his mother being at least 10 years his junior).
With that image seared into my brain, I don't think I could have ever accepted her as Vicky, although I adore the actress.

Diana, I understand what you are saying, but I didn't realize that Netty (LldA) was the same actress that had played the mom in CS09 for the longest time. I think that Vivi was the one who pointed it out.
She is a lot like César Évora, it does not take long to buy into the characters that they are playing at the time.

Laura Flores was wonderful in Piel de Otoño; a great telenovela if you ever have a chance to watch it.

Anyballs should give up scheming. He is terrible at it. Do any of his schemes ever turn out well? Has it occurred to him that if he keeps Guzmi from getting a job there, Guzmi and Nikki will probably just leave Mexico and go elsewhere to seek their fortune? Probably not; I bet he totally overestimates his worldwide power and influence. I actually hope that they do leave and not tell him or Nils that they are going or where.
I don't think they'll really suffer much, though, aside from silly stuff as Nikki tries to adjust to doing things for herself. Vicky is not going to let them starve, and Guzmancito probably still has some savings from his NY job that can get them by for a little while.

I didn't hear anyone say they would keep Guzmán from getting a job. I did hear was Nelson say that he would make sure Nikki couldn't work as a model. Aníbal congratulated him on his brilliant strategy. He didn't want Nikki to be able to support Guzmán.

Ooh, I like Edith Gonzales. She was in Camaleones, which I loved. I wish they had shown that one in the evenings so I could have discussed it with everyone here.
I like Edith González too. If you ever get a chance, you should check out Doña Barbara. She was amazing in that.
