Amores Verdaderos #150 Tue 6/11/13 Finally, a glimpse of a shirtless Salsa-Dude

Amores Verdaderos Cap 150—6-11-13—Finally, a glimpse of a shirtless Salsa-Dude

You can tell that my priorities are all screwed up. Or not. I admit that Salsa is my guilty pleasure.

And he doesn't look that bad! I had always assumed he had a Jorge Salinas body (my fave actor, but best seen with a shirt on) but I guess I was wrong!

PUT A FORK IN IT, THE RECAP IS DONE!

Not listed in order; scenes are consolidated for my sanity.

* We do a refrito of The Little Ape and Nikki all happy happy happy in his bed, talking about B.S. Pillow fight.

* Now that Carlos has been kindly given the heave-ho by Vikki, he apparently is deciding to explore the obvious chemistry he has with Adri. He tries to plant another smooch on her, but she's not going for it. She says that she just wants their relationship to be professional. She would feel wrong doing this to Vicki. (Why doesn't Carlos clear the air there? Maybe because it makes him look like he has the attention span of a hummingbird or something?) Anyway, Carlos plays the "you're a woman, I'm a man" card, but it doesn't work. Adri leaves. It doesn't look like Carlos is quite ready to give up, though.

Adri worries about her sister's feelings regarding Carlos. She needn't have bothered.

Carlos accepts this. For now . . .

* Beatriz and Salsa-Dude are alone at her place, happy happy happy once again. They talk about various things, including how Salsa-Dude has a genuine affection for Guillo now. (He admits that at first he was trying to make good with the kid to get in good with the mom. Which is pretty much standard procedure.) And, they talk about how now that Leo the Low is moldering in the ground, the boda is ON! He tells her he never took off the engagement ring. She shows him that she wore his ring around her neck on a necklace. She unstrings the ring and asks him to put it on her finger. He does so. Besos and hugs.

Happy happy happy, joy joy joy. Is that an anvil I see poised over Salsa-Dude's head?

* The FF is at the hospital, and finally it's sunk in that his daughter is ill and that he's a douchebag. He cries as he looks at his fragile bebe.

The FF finally shows that he has a heart.

* We have our scene showing some tantalizing glimpses of the bared chest of Salsa-Dude. He's showering and talking to Big Angel about his happiness, also talking about how he was rooting for Vicki all this time (vs. the FF) and he hopes she'll see that soon enough. Then he gets out of the shower, quickly dons something black (always black!) and continues to talk about his future happiness with Bea. They will marry soon! Big Angel congratulates him and they share a man-hug.

Anvil. I sees it coming!

* More anvilicious scenes. Bea, Guillo and Paula happily chatting around the breakfast table. Guillo would like to see Salsa-Dude soon. Guillo seems pretty well-adjusted for someone who has gone through as much B.S. as he has lately. After Guillo and Bea have departed the table, Paula makes a surreptitious call to Cande—she needs more special serum, pronto!

Happiness around the breakfast table.

* Felipe visits the Little Ape, who is himself tantalizingly garbed in only his pants. Happy happy happy. (Does this foretell another anvil? Please, no.) Felipe talks about how his luck has changed and he has some job (which has not been described as yet). The Little Ape says his luck has changed too, and goes into his bedroom to adoringly stare at a sleeping Nikki. Weird, really. Guess Felipe didn't go take a peek too, which makes it less weird. Father and son continue to chat. Guzmancito realizes there will be roadblocks ahead with Nikki's family. Felipe tells him that he can count on his and Paula's support. Felipe then confesses to Guzmancito that the money for Guzmancito's plane trip came from Paula, not himself. The Little Ape takes this news graciously, as things are thawing between mother and son. Felipe leaves, then Guzmancito goes to wake up Nikki with a beso. Later, they frolic in the shower. Happy happy, joy joy.

Adoringly looking at a sleeping Nikki.

The Shower of Happiness.

* The FF goes to the Balvanera mansion and cries on Vicki's shoulder (literally) about how his little bebe is in bad shape and could die. Vicki is compassionate and sympathetic, since, after all, it's not the baby's fault that her parents are douches or worse. Big Angel overhears some of this and seems a bit jealous.

Comforting the Fornicator.

* Kendra the Ho wants to know where her baby is. Mia isn't in her incubator! Kendra-Ho has a complete bitchy meltdown in front of the nurses. Finally a nurse is able to tell her that Mia is getting tests. Kendra continues to bitch and moan. She mutters to the empty incubator that Mia the brat better not die, dammit! The nurses talk among themselves and say that no wonder Kendra-the-Ho is so bitchy—her kid's chances of survival are dim.

It's all about you, you, you, isn't it, Kendra-the-Ho?

* Guzmancito and Nikki are having a meal. Nikki is scarfing down food and saying how she woke up so hungry! It seems like love and happiness have healed her eating disorder. (Do we anticipate an anvil?) Then they talk about Paula and Guzman. Nikki's happy that Guzmancito has forgiven Paula. He explains that it happened little by little. Nikki then says what I consider to be the STUPIDEST THING EVER UTTERED IN A LONG TIME. She says that she "understands" Paula better now, for abandoning her family, because she (Nikki) would abandon all to be with Guzmancito.  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, you idiot! Paula abandoned her two minor children, just because they would have been an inconvenience when she was globetrotting around with Anyballs! For crying out loud, that's the epitome of selfishness.

I'm rolling my eyes. Big time. What a dipshit comment, Nikki!

* After the Furry Fornicator leaves Vicki, she is able to explain everything to Big Angel. He is sympathetic about the baby. He can't stand Kendra the Ho, but the poor kid didn't do anything wrong. He has hopes that the baby will recover. They also talk about the FF's transformation into a person with human emotions. How about that? After he's left, Vicki prays to God to protect the baby.

* Back at Guzmancito's flat. Someone calls Nikki to tell her of Nabila's death. She's all tears and in shock. Guzmancito is shocked too. Then the FF calls and tells her about the baby being born. She doesn't want to hear about that little brat! She will never accept her as her sister. Nikki has her own little tantrum there and hangs up on her douchey dad. The FF laments about this to Salsa-Dude, who reminds him that Nikki can't exactly be expected to jump for joy over the circumstances of this baby's conception. The FF feels sorry for himself as Salsa thinks that the FF is selfish. Which he is!

* Nikki has to rush out Guzmancito's door, because she figures that Vicki doesn't know about the FF's bebe. Guzmancito offers to come with her, but she says that's okay and she takes off by herself. (What? No bodyguard?) Note to Guzman: You need to clean up that trail of Nikki's Valentine letters off the floor now.

* Is this the start of a new bromance? Big Angel visits Carlos and clears the air. They review all the stuff that has gone down. Turns out Carlos is a gracious loser and an all-around good guy. Carlos offers his hand in friendship, after telling Big Angel to make Vicki happy. Big Angel is so touched by Carlos that he gives him a big bear hug. Carlos laughs and goes along with it. Happy happy.

And who wouldn't be enchanted by a bear hug from the Big Angel?

* Vicki calls a cardiologist specialist person, who is in a conference at the moment, to hopefully help Mia.

* Adri is chatting with Jocelyn about Carlos. What does she do now? She kinda has the warm fuzzies for Carlos. The attraction is "very strong," she says. She admires him even more, after seeing how he stood up to Anyballs the old douchebag. Jocelyn opines that Adri is in love with Carlos, something Adri does not deny. But Carlos was pining for Vicki for TWENTY-FIVE YEARS! Adri asks Jocelyn if she can advise her or give her any insight on what's up with Carlos, since Jocelyn's been Carlos's friend for so long. Jocelyn is stumped and doesn't really know what to say.

* Meanwhile, the man of the hour, Carlos, is perusing Vicki's script (which he's been led to believe was written by Adri). He says to himself that it sounds like an autobiography . . .

Carlos is getting an idea . . .

* Nikki sees Vicki, fills her in on the news of Nabila. Vicki is impactada. Nikki assumes that Vicki doesn't know about Mia being born, but Vicki does. There's a whole exchange about Nikki's unwillingness to accept this girl as her half-sister. Nikki vehemently refuses to do so, while Vicki tries to soften her a bit. Nikki reminds her mom that she never was okay with Anyball's mistress, so how come Vicki expects her (Nikki) to accept this little bastarda? Vicki looks a big green around the gills and it comes out that Mia is very sick. Gulp, Nikki now feels a tad guilty. Vicki tells her how devastated the FF is, and how Vicki's trying to round up a really good cardiologist. Nikki changes her tune enough to be willing to go to the hospital with Vicki.

* Cande has visited the Balvanera kitchen in search of Big Angel. Polita sniffs around the yummy tamales that Cande has brought with her. Big Angel is delighted to see his MiL. They start to chat, and Vicki comes in. AWKWARD. There is an uncomfortable introduction, and then Vicki retreats. Cande senses something and asks point blank if something is going on between Vicki and Big Angel. Big Angel hems and haws and prefaces it by saying that nothing had started while Christina was alive, but yeah . . . he and Vicki have just started something. He knows it's going to be tough, because Lili has already indicated that she's very jealous and not ready for her dad to move on yet. Cande is understanding and also explains how it's not easy for Lili and it is kind of a short time since Chris died, especially considering how jealous Chris was of Vicki. Big Angel knows it's a tough situation. Cande thought-bubbles, "If you only knew! Chris and Vicki are sisters!"

An awkward moment as Cande senses some vibes between Vicki and Big Angel.

* Meanwhile, the Little Ape has come to visit Paula. He tells her he knows about the plane ticket buying. At first she is worried that he's annoyed, but that's not it. He catches her up with all his good news (divorce from Amber, getting a good job in Estados Unidos which enabled him to pay his debt to Vicki, then getting back together with Nikki). He's happy happy happy. He wants to reconcile with Paula now. She's happy happy happy.

He's come to thank Paula. At long last!

She's thrilled beyond words!

* More with Cande and Big Angel. He's waiting for the right time to tell Lili. Vicki has told him there's no rush. Cande approves of that.  He's got to tread very carefully in how he spills the beans to Lili. He's struggling to figure out a way to do it. After he leaves, Cande says out loud, in telenovela fashion, how awesome a dad he is, he loves Lili as if she were his own blood! (That's because he believes she's his own blood! Duh!) Cande worries that it'll be an awful blow when the truth comes out . . . And yet another anvil, right? (No spoilers in any of my anvil speculations, just in case anyone was wondering. But what are telenovelas without anvils, right?)

She knows it won't be easy . . .

But he can count on Cande's support! He's so happy.

* More with Paula and Guzman's reconciliation. She tells him how sorry she is for all the idiocy from before. She wasted 20 years with Anyballs at the expense of her own kids. And the old douchebag never would publicly acknowledge her or marry her. What a waste. Guzmancito tells her it's time for them to put all that guilt and crap behind them. Expressions of love and devotion ensue. Hugs! Weepy Paula. (Well what would we expect from Paula?)

She's sorry for wasting so much time on the old douchebag when she should have been with her kids.

At last! A full reconciliation!

* Last scene of the episode: Nikki approaches Big Angel. She says she has always thought he was awesome. (He thanks her after taking a moment to digest this.) She says she's fine with him having a thing with her mom, but she cannot stomach the idea of sharing a house with Lili! Awkward look from our Big Angel and that is where we end this episode!

AVANCES:

It looks like little Mia has a limited chance of survival. The doctor is saying that the only way she'll survive is . . . and then I can't make out the rest. Vicki is by the Ho's hospital bed and the Ho is threatening Vicki. But the Ho makes it look like Vicki is trying to throttle her when the FF comes in. Uh oh! MUST SEE TV!!!

The Ho and Vicki get into it, with the Ho screeching as usual.

Elvira: Two galans in picture perfect harmony. While my main focus was on the handsomest man on earth, JA(IMHO), seeing Santino up close and personal was an added bonus.

I remember the swimming scenes in FELS with great fondness (right, doris?)...What a shame there weren't more shower scenes here. Sigh.

Best moment of the night for me was the hug between Paula and Francisco. Paula has done cruel things and made terrible choices but I always had a soft spot for her. I believe anyone that gave birth to two of the lovliest, kindest most grounded children (ever) must be a good person at heart (flaws aside).

Bea and Santino together at last was another highlight.

I didn't understand much of the dialog last night so am looking forward to finding out exactly what is going on with Mia. Is Nikki softening at hearing of Mia's condition?

Another blessed night of an Anibal-free episode.

Elvira, I can't wait to read the recap. Know it will be sensational.

Diana

Diana...I agree with all your comments, especially your appreciation of that big, sweet guy. I'm glad for both Guz and Paula for that hug. Forgiving is good for the forgiver as well as the forgiven though it is not always easy to forgive someone who has hurt you or someone you love.

Elvira:

Looking forward to your recap.

I agree with you Diana and Susanlynn about the Pau. I too am glad Pau and Frankie have reconciled. And I agree Diana, that the two sweetest, most grounded people must have been raised by someone good.

And the FF, who knew he had a heart? Is this an anamoly for him? He cried, actually cried, it is a miracle! His tear ducts actually work! I thought he was more like the Tin Man, with no heart, now if only he had a brain!!! I am still not liking him, but I have to say he really loves Mia. That is why I am so surprised. And Ms Vikki wants to help him.

I too liked that pic of the Angel and Salsa Dude. He is one of my favorites too. He and Betty are so good together, but I am afraid the anvil of fate is hovering. I just hope he does good, fesses up, and rights the wrongs he has done. He is such a changed man already.

I liked the little talk that Cande and the Angel had about love and Lili, interesting.

Elvira - I love bulleted list format! I'm looking forward to it.

I think they kept the Salsa camera shots at chest and up, so we really don't know if he has a salsa tummy or a 6-pack abs bod.

Interesting, how Vikki has compassion for the health/life-compromised newborn (and Nelson!) and is going to great effort in teaching Nikki to be accepting of her out-of-wedlock half-sister.

Even more interesting will be watching how compassionately Vikki reacts (or not) when she learns Cristina was her out-of-wedlock half-sister.

Diana - ~sighs~ ... remembering the swimming scenes and shower scenes in FELS. (even though it was a Meh-jía production. lol)

Doris- I think they added this storyline about Nikki’s sick half-sister especially so that Vicky and Adri will be more accepting when they learn that Cris was their half sister. Vicky looked very reflective when Nikki asked what she would do if it were Anibal’s child with an amante. And frankly, I think that after having met and gotten to know Cris, neither of them would have been as closed off as they claimed, if Cris was still alive. All the Balvanera women act like they are totally inflexible and unmoving, when really they all have soft hearts that melt easily.

I was also happy for Frankie and Paula. I’m glad his forgiveness came before he knew she was ill. Paula has really stepped up lately—putting the needs of her kids and grandchild ahead of her own. I’ve never been her fan, but I’m sad the writers are killing her off, just when their family has found some peace and happiness.

The staff shower stalls in the Balvanera mansion all seem to have half walls and no doors. (Although there is a glass door in Frankie's apartment shower stall). Is this typical of Mexican bathrooms?

GoBlueFan- I think those shower stalls were made that way for the audience’s benefit. :) However, I can tell you that I just learned at my 20th (boarding) high school reunion that they have FINALLY added shower curtains to the large group shower stalls in our old dorms…stalls that face a large mirror over the sinks in the main part of the bathroom. Apparently after 20 years, the school learned that these stalls, where you could see every bit of your neighbor’s body, as well as your own when you turned around and saw the reflections in the GIANT mirror, weren’t very good for the (many) girls with eating disorders.

Speaking of eating disorders, I think I’m more disturbed by the message this tn is sending that the love of a good man can cure a woman of an eating disorder, more than I’m disturbed by the message that the love of a good woman can change a man who was a womanizing hustler (Roy) or a hardened criminal (Salsero). There are fairytales I am willing to accept, and then there stories that are just dangerous if accepted.

I didn't go to boarding school, but in Iowa, our Jr. and Sr. high schools had open showers. In Jr. High, the very masculine female gym teacher forced us to strip down and take showers while she watched. She told us that it was a state law that we had to take showers after every class and she had to monitor us to make sure we did it. Funny, when we got to Sr. High, we were told that we didn't have to take showers after gym class if we didn't want to. Apparently it wasn't a law after all. Hmmmmm. True story. Vivi gave me a flashback.

Vivi:

I know what you are saying, but I give Frankie some kudos here. He is the one that brought Nikki's eating disorder to Ms Vikki's attention and then Nikki did get help. I liked, before she got married, when she was scarfing all that chocolate she stopped herself from eating it and she didn't barf, and decided to stop this cycle even though she was pining for Frankie. I think due to his help, besides the loving kind, he really did help her into therapy. I am so glad she wants to help other girls like her. I think she'd be really good at it, and being in love with Frankie doesn't hurt ; )

Santino, now is a different story, but I really like the fact he is putting obstacles in Kendho's way, ignoring FF's every whim, but he really needs to fess up, you are right. He needs to take the consequences of his actions. Then he will be worthy of Betty's love.

Roy too has turned a corner. Not that what he has done is right either, but he is trying to mend his ways. A lot of his selfishness is gone and now he has the daunting task of winning Lili the right way. He will have to work hard, but if he has turned the corner he will find the right way to win her heart. I am pulling for him to do the right thing : )

Oh, about Santino. He didn't give the FF his gun, or take the order of killing the Angel when Angel and Ms Vikki were in Cuernevaca.

Vivi, I think it can happen. People change religions for lovers. Based some of those ID Channel shows, some people have become done crimes or killed for their lover. So, I think that you could become a good person if that's what it took to get them. I'm not saying that it happens EVERYDAY, but I think it could happen.

Cyn- Yikes!

Mads- I think we are to assume that Nikki went back to her therapy, after we saw her scarfing down food and apparently vomiting in Miami, before she slipped and hit her head in the tub. She also told Vicky she would seek out help. But she basically just said that to get Vicky off her back when she came to see her in Miami. After that we NEVER saw Nikki leave her hotel room in Miami or in Canada. We only saw her sitting in her room, or in the hotel restaurant, writing sappy letters to Guzman. That is NOT eating disorder therapy. I wish they had also shown us flashes of her seeing a therapist or doing group sessions in Canada. But, nope, nada. She was bulimic in Miami, did nothing in Canada, and is magically cured and willing/able to help other women upon returning to Mexico and getting with Guzman. I’m not buying it.

I can accept the whole changing to become a better person for your love thing (with reservations). But I can't accept a mental illness being cured just like that, just because you have a loving man, with a hot bod, in your bed and life. Although that could cure many other things... :)

Vivi and Mads,

I'm butting all up in your conversation. But, Vivi is right. Nikki didn't do jack, but write letters and pine for Guzzie Woozie Smoopie Bear. All that stress would have probably made her vomit more.

Cynderella

Vivi and Cyn:

I see what you both are saying, but she only vomited in Miami and I think Canada once. I know she isn't instantly cured, but what I am trying to say is that she has matured and come a long way from that whining little girl she used to be. She actually did go to therapy in Mexico, we saw those scenes, and maybe we are to assume she did get help, after she left home, I know they didn't show it, but maybe her letter writing was a therapy for her. I am not arguing with you, I agree as far as having a hot guy doesn't cure all your ills. I just think she has come a long way from what she used to be, that's all : )

Forgive me I am just a romantic at heart : )

This comment has been removed by the author.

I love your romanticism Mads! Just think the writers could have provided the romance AND a teaching moment by adding a tiny dose of realism to that particular storyline (it was needed).

Someone said: "I think they kept the Salsa camera shots at chest and up, so we really don't know if he has a salsa tummy or a 6-pack abs bod."

Well, we know that Guzman definitely has a six pack abs bod and at least that part of him is not surgically enhanced. He was quite the sight preparing breakfast without his shirt. Nikki's a lucky girl to have him as her therapist. I would have been cured of all my disorders (including over-eating) if I had Guzman making me my meals.

AHh yes , those high school group shower rooms. Just what growing, changing teens need to make them feel even more uncomfortable than they already are. That and Mr. Loy (aka The Moose) locking me out of geometry for being late to class after said mass showering. I've got to say that I had the same feeling of the message being sent as ...the love of a good man can stop bulimia.

Elvira – Fantastic lead photo. Salsero and JA both looked ooh la la la la.

Vickie is good about advising Nikki on doing the right, compassionate thing, but she’s been closed off herself about getting to know her father’s longtime amante and finding out about her half-sister. But she seemed to be turning a corner last night.

So glad Angel told Cande about Vickie. He should have Cande help him tell Lili.

One thing that’s never been explained about Salsero is what did he do with his ill-gotten gains? He and his godmother seem to live in small frugal apartments. His No. 1 pleasure was salsa and that doesn’t take a whole lot of money.

I wished they had shown Nikki in group therapy too. Bulimia is a huge problem where almost everybody knows of someone who has had it. I have a cousin who suffered from it and basically group intervention and her just finally getting sick and tired of the porcelain throne got her through it.

Now that Nikki is all cured, she'll have to come up with a new word for Polita cause surely she's grown too much to call her "meatball" now.

The recap is in progress! Check back often! :D

I agree with Vivi's take on the love of a good man will not cure a mental/emotional illness. But telenovelas often tend to drop the ball on PSA-type themes. I've seen telenovelas send guys to AA, but never once is the family told to go to AlAnon, etc.

High school showers .... ugh. Ours in the gym locker room never had shower curtains, either. If you think about it, that would be a mold farm just waiting to happen.

I once went to a county elementary school in Mishawaka, IN that had no doors on the toilet stalls in the girls' room, either! Sixth grade ... I hated that.

Thanks for the part one of this marvelous recap Elvira!

I thought the nurses would hear Kendho for sure. Poor Mia! I am really worried about what would happen to Mia if Kendho doesn't get what she wants.

I too agree that they missed a huge PSA moment. I too wish they had shown more of Nikki's treatment, either with the therapist or group therapy.

Will FF change after this? Will he finally give Ms Vikki that divorce? I think he will still hold out for lots of moola.

I too hope that Cande helps when Angel tells Lili what is really going on. What bothered me so much last episode, was that the flashbacks Lili saw in her mind was when Cris thought that Angel and Ms Vikki had slept in her bed, this happened way before anything happened with Ms Vikki and the Angel, even though I think he started to have feeling for Ms Vikki at this point. I understand Lili wanting to honor her Mama's memory, but what bothers me is you can't help who you love. Lili knows this, she is still having feelings for Frankie even though deep down she knows he will never be hers. She so doesn't like Nikki right now, the same as Nikki can't stand her. I think that has something to do with her not accepting Vikki besides the memory of her Mama. I agree that JA really needs to tell Lili the truth. The longer he keeps his and Ms Vikki's relationship a "secret" the more it will hurt Lili when she finds out. Santino, Tomi, Frankie and above all, Nikki all know. I hope one of them doesn't misspeak (Tomi) before Angel tells her himself.

Elvira, I know you haven't quite finished but what I see at this moment is pure gold. The pictures, the story-telling, the captions -- superb!

The Shower of Happiness

Comforting the Fornicator

It's all about you, you, you, isn't it, Kendra-the-Ho?

Perfect! And perfectly hilarious! [But you are making me a tad uneasy with all your anvil talk. Oh dear.]

Oh, and I had forgotten that Nikki and Ms Vikki hadn't known about Nabila's death. Nikki was really floored and Ms Vikki too.

Thanks, Elvira! Excellent recap so far, por supuesto! I agree about Nikki's asinine comment. Not at all the same that SHE would leave everything! She doesn't even have children to abandon! Also, Frankie is not the kind of troll who would ever want her to abandon her children to gallivant around with him.

Ugh, school showers. Ours didn't even have separate stalls, never mind curtains. Just open gang showers. I hated them. I never showered at school unless I absolutely had to.

Elvira - Thank you for the recap and the screen caps! I enjoyed your ref to DD while Guzman frolicked with his yuppie girl and they were so happy happy happy. Hey! Now they're cooking with peanut oil! LOL

Oh, and ITA with you Elvira about Nikki saying she would abandon her kids (if she had any) just to be with Guzman. Selfish selfish selfish! Gah.

I will be very very very upset if Salsero is whacked by an anvil. Bea has suffered so much already and next her mother is going to die. She HAS to end up with Salsero!

Isn't Vikki the Creative Director at MetaImagen? Wouldn't/shouldn't she be told about Nabila croaking?

Vivi, it's great to have you back on the Patio!

Doris:

I've seen telenovelas send guys to AA, but never once is the family told to go to AlAnon, etc.

Actually in El clon, the whole family did go to something like NarAnon. The writers gave us a very thorough picture of addiction and its treatment. Of course many of us kvetched bitterly at the time devoted to PSA's when we could have been mooning over Tiberio Cruz. for example.

This novela -- I mean Amores -- has actually spent a lot of time on Nikki's illness. [I remember it well because I was recapping a lot of it.] I don't begrudge our girl an appetite at breakfast after a night with her honey. We've never been led to believe that "All you need is love" -- though it doesn't hurt, that's for sure!

Not much to say as everybody has said it all already. So I'll just say---Thank you Elvira and I hope little Mia pulls through.
the gringo

Thanks everyone, for the comments! Part two of the recap coming shortly!

Thanks,EIvura for the snappy recap and those awesome photos and captions. Nikki's comment about leaving her kids for Guz was perplexing to me given how close she seems to her Supermommy. However, I suppose we can chalk it up to her noche de Amor with SUperStudmuffin. ("you are my all, my everything... Come live with me and be my love...my onetrueloveeeee.....l.I want to live on a desert isle with you and you alone...nothing and noone else matters but you and our love....para siempre...xoxoxo...etcetera), her youth , and her pampered upbringing. Don 't let the stars get in your eyes, Nikki girl, or put all your eggs into one studly basket. Mothers must protect their children above all. YOu should know that because your mother has always been there for you, PRincessa. Sorry, that just hit a nerve for me.

Elvura???????...Sorry, Elvira.

Elvira, I'll add my sincere thanks for a fabulous recap.

In addition to what's already been noted "Carlos plays the "you're a woman, I'm a man" card, but it doesn't work" and "More anvilicious scenes" were fantastic.

Madelaine, you are so right in that far too many know about Vicky and JA - it's only a matter of time before someone slips and says something to Lili before her father does. That will make it even harder for her to accept Vicky.

doris, I will not be happy either if Santino and Bea aren't together at the end. He must tell the truth and the biggest obstacle is not Bea, but her brother and his true love. Will Nikki be able to forgive him after his part in her kidnapping is revealed?

Look forward to reading the rest tomorrow Elvira. Thanks again.

Diana

Love the recap so far Elvira! Right on about Nikki's insensitive and ignorant comment. But Guzman let it go, and probably chalks it up to her youth and inexperience as a parent, like we do.

NovelaMaven- Agreed. Entirely too much time was spent on Nikki's bulimia (I felt like vomiting each time they played Nikki's "sad" melody), and too little on her recovery. Too much vomit, too little therapy

Excellent stuff, Elvira. I love this:

"Why doesn't Carlos clear the air there? Maybe because it makes him look like he has the attention span of a hummingbird..."

Something I was alluding to yesterday.

It hasn't come up here yet that St. Vikki is already making arrangements to fly in a super cardiologist for Mia, and Nikki is putting aside her petty and not so petty concerns to rush o the hospital. Maybe Aníbal has done something right along the way.

Carlos

Carlos:

Or maybe they inherited their Mama's gene for compassion. I'm still waiting for Anyballs to show that. Maybe when there is ice water in you know where : )

ITA Mads. I think they got that from their mom. Vicky was influenced by her mom, and Adri was influenced by her mom, Vicky and Tomi.

Thanks, Elvira, the rest of this is excellent.

Bad enough that Adriana is falling for that phony, Joan (or is she attracted to Carlos?) but then...

"Adri asks Jocelyn if she can advise her..."

...she looks to Jocelyn for direction?

But on second thought, why not?

"Jocelyn is stumped and doesn't really know what to say."

Because Jocelyn has a much less complex view of men and what they're good for.

OT: I'm new to TN's. I watched more than 1/2 of Abismo de Pasion, all of QNPA and AB. Home sick today and watching Soy tu Duena. It looks like the settings are from Abismo de Pasion and QNPA. Did any of you see this one and know if that's true. Thanks Bluejean

Bluejean- Nope. None of those tns were filmed in the same place. However, I believe Amor Real was shot on the same hacienda as Soy Tu Duena.

Here are the filming locations:
Soy Tu Duena- Hidalgo, Mexico (central Mexico)
La Que No Podia Amar- Chiapas, Mexico (southwestern Mexico)
Abismo de Pasion- Ermita de Santa Isabel, Yucatán, Mexico (southeastern Mexico)

The locations aren't the same, but a lot of set pieces get rearranged and reused from one telenovela to the next, so you'll see a lot of things that look familiar. Same stair in a different house, same exterior shots used with different interiors, reused furniture and artwork, stuff like that.

Thanks Vivi. How much they look alike to me.

I always though the inside of the hacienda in STUD looked a lot like the inside of the big house in MEPS. Not surprising since the producer is the same (and the same one we have here on AV).

But the exteriors of the three haciendas above were quite different. STUD-- orangy-yellow; Abismo-- red; LQNPA-- white.

Odioette's house (where she is staying now) looks *exactly* like Vainessa's and her parents' in LQNPA. I just assumed that it was the same place!

Elvira - Thanks for the fun reading and viewing.

And the bright yellow house (owned by the couple with the two teenaged kids?) in Por Ella Soy Eva is, I always thought, Ana Paula's house (before she moved to Rogelio's estate) in LQNPA. The outside trees and everything look the same.

Have they shown more than Odette's bedroom? I think D.F. grand house exteriors and interiors get re-used a lot.

Vivi, I think that's it. The exteriors are different from the interiors. I would be shocked to learn that the exterior of Odioette's house was not the same one used in LQNPA. Same for that yellow house in Por Ella.

I swear I have seen the green apartment building in PEAM in an old tn that was on in the afternoon. Might have even been FC's old tn, Esmeralda. But I just might be thinking that because of the color.

The apartment building in Teresa became so popular that tourists were visiting it, but the city had already decided to tear it down because it was so old and in bad shape.

The same churches get re-used a lot, too. How many times have we been to that sort of modern-looking lava rock church with the big windows? I think it was the main church in Guapos, I know I've seen it in a few other shows, and recently on PEAM it turned out there is one EXACTLY like it in Monterrey!

One thing that may cause Lili to have an even bigger freakout is if she finds out that Nikki, her hated enemiga, knew about JA and Vikki's relationship waaaay before she did. That will surely rub salt in her wound.

Nikki's comment about leaving all for a man was, I think, to help Guzman feel even better about his reconciliation with his mother. She said that she could now understand Paula a little more because SHE (Nikki) would do anything and leave everything for her love of Guzman. I believe she meant it in the general sense. I really don't think she meant she personally would leave her children. But she's prepared to defend her love against her snobby father and grandfather and risk her relationship with them.

VIvi....Yes, the hacienda in Dueno was also Manuel's hacienda in Amor Real.

Elvira:

Thanks so much for your marvelous part 2 of this recap! Thanks also for your wonderful screencaps!
