PEAM #61 06/03/13 - The Dark Days After Christmas Aren't All About Discount Sales

Rogue is being solicitous of Susana, did her husband die while I was away? Probably not, he wants to know if either Alma or Fernando are in. Susana tells him that Fernie is in a foul mood. Rogue shrugs and says what else is new? But Rogue heads towards Fernando's office and here comes Panfilo. He pretends to shake hands and be a stranger to Maricela who is very reluctantly polite, Xochi thinks he is so friendly.  Fernando isn't being the least bit friendly to Rogie, Fernando claims he ruined his life, Descua left him forever, Rogue claims to have done it for his own good.  Descua was rendering him mindless without liberty and he only wants him to be free.  Fernando says he is ruined, but Rogue counters with sincere confusion of how he could be ruined over feelings for a mere "woman??" Fernando bemoans the light of his life has gone forever, maybe he has a brain cell left as he explains that he had something of his own for once and now he has nothing including he doesn't have the will to live any longer.

Paty has nothing either but continues to pretend that perhaps Chucho is bringing more than hot coffee to her.  He asks her if she knows why Alma is so bitter (enpeñada). For stubbornness (terka) Paty responds. Alma always wants to follow her plans exactly even when they don't make her happy.  Paty wants to rub her uhhhh, ego against him a bit more but he excuses himself and seems to have learned to turn around and step away while he is delivering his good byes. Paty, licks her lovely lips at this interest of Chucho's in Alma's state of mind.

Fernando let's Rogie know that since Rog ruined his chance at happiness he has a mind to tell Alma all about Patycake and Jessica, the whips, the affairs, the film.  We see Rogue's eyes grow wide in fear but Fernie assures Rogie he isn't going to sink to this filth (porquería)  and bids him a final Adios!!

Cardi is still shining while the the sillies tease him about being the hen-pecked husband who can't get away.  Alma's call and request for him to come to her office. They tease him that she will see his black eye.

Chucho reviews the scenes and worries then reviews the scene with his probation Officer who asked him to find out more about the Rivadeneira bros,so he walks into Fernie's office to ask some casual questions. Fernando is dejected and not too forthcoming.  Xochi fawns a bit while Chucho checks the elevator.  Fernie tells the receptionist, hast a nunca and Chucho being suspicious calls the ProbOfficer to tell her Fernie is acting very weird and finally saying he has a secret and is going off to his house.  She encourages him to stay on his trail.

Veronica does the expected when she can't get her way after storming Marta's office with a patient, she later lays her accusations out about Marta's non-professional behavior of preferring Elias' adz to her sorry asz. So of course she pulls the Valentina card and assures Marta that she isn't fit to shrink her daughter.  Poor Valentina, I agree that no one else is really sympathetic, non-involved but having her best interests first.  Chucho comes in a close second but he is involved emotionally.

Elias is further ruining Alma's day that he is sure Veronica is closing in on Chucho.  Jiberto shows up and explains his dark glasses being due to an ocular infection. Alma tells him he is to work with Elias to plan the next PR campaign details. She has so much to do and excuses herself.

Paty hovers all over Susana talking about internet searches for just the right shoes for a fancy wedding, while questioning about Rogue's whereabouts and with one hand dropping the envelope with the photocopy of the exercise.  Multi-tasking more than we have ever seen her capable of since tasking is rare with her anytime. Alma shows up and Paty confuses Susana by walking away just as she has located some fancy shoe site.

Chucho arrives outside while the cameras switch to a distraught Fernando on the roof bemoaning his best choice to fling himself into the air since he is full of sin and empty of Discua.  Just as he works up his courage to jump, he is tackled by the heroic Chucho.  They argue about losing Descua, all hope.  Chucho insists he has to fight to survive and make things right. Fernando cries about the loss of all light and how he had changed completely to a being of spiritual questing for the light.  Someone's cell phone keeps ringing while they discuss the desperation of the situation.  Chucho does a good body block when they stand up and is even able to hold Fernie back with one hand while he answers his phone with the other. Talk about good multi-tasking. Of course it is ProbatLady who wants to know what is happening.  He merely tells her he will call her right back with the address.  Fernie wants to know who had the nerve to call in the middle of his big leap.  It was the Police assures Chucho.

Veronica continues to give Marta the 3rd degree. Has Marta told Elias about her feelings? Absolutely not.  They continue to negotiate Valentina's therapy Marta assures her that she will do everything possible to assure that Valentina's well being is the most important thing to her.  She implores Vero to let Valentina continue to come for her therapy.  Vero is willing to deal if Marta will help her with the favorable divorce outcome with Elias.

On the roof, Fernando confesses quite a bit of his guilt and remorse at losing Discua and it being his brother Rogue's fault. Chucho says go after her.  But she went to India cries Fernie.  Then she isn't dead, go after her.  Chucho finally loses his patience at Fernando's giving into his brother's ruinous plans for him. Then your brother is right, you are to weak, go ahead and jump. He walks away Fernando cries like a girl for him to come back to talk.  Chucho wisely says but come with me and we can talk below. They walk off like hermanos ought to be together.

Meantime the thoughtful brother Rogue sits in a restaurant wondering about his brother's thinly veiled threats when what should appear but the most buxom and bumptious reindeer, I mean pleasure professional named Alexandra from the agency.  Rogue lips his lips plenty but does keep to the business that her services are required for his brother not for him. He tells her that he has been badly heart broken by a woman and needs his confidence rebuilt so he will forget this unfortunate Descua. He wants Alejandra to let Fernando think he has conquered her.  Alejandra assures him that his will take time and will cost a great deal of money. The agreement is made with lascivious looks and batting of eyelashes on both sides.

Begonia, Jiberto's beloved (abuser wifey) shows up with the biggest rolling pin made and beats the sillies about the head and body blaming them for her beloved husband's crazy desire to divorce her. Jessica giggles and I don't know how she was spared, the uniformed guards show up, the director of personnel shows up and all are cowed by Begonia's winning ways and swinging pin.  She walks out under her own power while the line of sillies and guards cower in awe at this raw woman power.

Chucho steps into Alma's office and hallucinates a sweet loving scene that gets very close to kisses before he comes to and ends up advising Alma that if she is concerned with the well-being of her employees she should see Marta who sees Valentina.  She thinks Marta must be a child psychologist but Chucho for good or ill assures her that Veronica is also her patient.  So Alma makes the call and Marta is miraculously available that very afternoon after she ascertains that Alma is coming to see her over concern for her employees and not for Chucho, Veronico, et. al.

Maricela brazenly walks into Alma's office stating she needs a new dress for a swanky dinner party.  Elias should be warned, Maricela has no more sense of personal space boundaries than Veronica does, but maybe that is part of the appeal of both of them for him…  Anyway, they discuss that she is so short she can't wear most of Alma's clothes, so is she going to alter one or vie for a brand new dress.  They discuss that Panfilo has come and is being trained in other parts of the building for his new job. Relenting from her earlier snotty coolness to her father, Maricela thanks Alma warmly for helping her father with a job.  Alma really cares for Panfilo she assures Maricela.

Wow, Out in the open office area the exchange between Alma and Veronica is cool but cagey while Chucho has excused himself from so many invitations to intimacy with her that he finally agrees to dinner later that night since he has too much work between now and then.  She pats his hand, kisses the air between them and acts familiar knowing that Alma is biting back her envy.

New scene at Chatita's door: it is Veronica bearing a little Christmas gift and wanting to question her about Jesús. Just as Chatita is figuring out who she is and about to make jasmine tea for her, the second knock on the door is of course Alma bearing a gift and wanting to questions her about Jesús. Chatita goes off to make coffee for Alma and jasmine tea for Vero.  They pass pleasantries about the divorce from Elias and the health of Alma's father. Alma tracks Chatita into the laundry room while Chatita folds clean blouses and tries to tame the bra that ate Chicago while they discuss with much confusion why Veronica is there too. Chatita offers to tell Veronica that Alma is in love with Jesus.  Alma's odd question is why Jesús doesn't want to come to her wedding.

The office ladies question Chucho's concerns about Fernando and office problems. Chucho demurs to tell them anything concrete.

Alma continues questioning Jesús's coldness with her.  Chatita is about to tell her.

Coming scenes: Rogelio plans Jesús' death with a hit man. And it looks like the video of Rogelio's wild ride with Jessica has come to light.

Well, Jesús is just like a cactus. They discover more and more properties about him every day!

Now he ran all the way to the roof of a very tall building USING THE STAIRS!! and got there in time to save Ferdinando... Jesús, Jesús, now I owe you my life, can I marry you?

I didn't like tonight's episode, I think I am only going to watch it on wednesdays and read your recappings the rest of the week!

;-)

Welcome back Cheryl. Gracias for the recap. Yes, Susana's husband did die while you were away. You would think Avon would give her some bereavement leave, but I guess the FOUR other secretaries wouldn't be able to handle all the work without her.

The roof scene when Jesus was wrapped around Fer was funny, and the whole conversation that followed. Jesus got quite the workout running up all those stairs instead of taking the elevator. Show off!

Thanks Pablo, I think you can skip quite a few episodes without really losing the thread of the so called plot. I just missed a whole week and although I don't know all the myriad details, not so much happened. We do enjoy your sarcasm and enlightening vocabulary lessons so don't go too far away during the other episodes.,

Vivi, Oh thanks for the news about Susana's husband, the sad moment went by so quickly, Rogelio doesn't keep a serious concern state for long. I too loved the roof scene. The two actors seemed to really enjoy the scene so we did too.

Cheryl:

Thanks so much for your fab recap. You truly didn't miss much, just lots of partying leading up to Christmas.

I too loved that scene on the roof, even though at first Ferny kept calling Chucho, "Encanto" and then finally Jesus. I wonder if Ferny will give up his bubby to Delia the policewoman.

Chatita is the wonderful sage here. I love how everyone runs to her for advice. Maybe this is the reason she can never remember anything, too confused by everyone's problems running around in her brain ; )

I too had to laugh at Begonia's ginormous rolling pin, lol. Does it make super sized conchas or huge loaves of peasant bread? I laughed when she bopped them all with it and those security guards were a hoot too. I too was surprised Jess escaped unscathed.

I meant while you were gone Cheryl, about the partying leading up to Christmas, lol.

Didn't miss a beat Cheryl. Thanks for the recap. I was really into the whole Ferny parts and then my phone rings! Shades of Chucho's ringing off the hook. So thanks for filling in the conversation between them.

Some of the better acting we've seen was between those two last night. Love how Ferny is still not turning to the dark side and I'm thinking he may be a real key in bringing his bro's nefarious ways to light. ( excuse the reference). I can go with he and Chucho has BF's.

I can't even on Vero any more. HATE HATE HATE the way she used her little girl's well-being as a bargaining chip to get what SHE wants.

As for Begonia - bless her. After that HR-cringing behavior from the sillies, I was rooting for her and the awesomeness that was the Rolling Pin from Hell. I didn't know they even made them that big. She's my new hero!!

Alma - think girl. Why would a guy who kissed you and apparently has feelings for you want to show up watching you marry someone else. Gives new meaning to the word Clueless.

Hi Mads, It's good to go away and then it's good to come home. I still haven't had time to read all of last week but if this originally ran during the real Christmas season, it needed to move slowly so people didn't lose track of what was happening.

I wonder too if Fernando can stand up to his overbearing brother. I hope he gets on a plane to India but the entanglement that is bound to come with Delia (sorry I couldn't come up with her name last night) and her pursuit of pinning charges on the brothers.

Daisy, I was so disappointed in Vero too, she seems to be stuck in her self-centered view and doesn't flinch at using Valentina to manipulate Elias or especially Jesús so we were all shocked as Marta seemed that she would willingly use Valentina to manipulate Marta's actions to help her get her divorce.

And stepping away for a week to meditate made Alma look like more of a fool last night. She really doesn't think through the signs that are flying at her like a sand storm about Jesús' feelings and even her own.

Cheryl, "tries to tame the bra that ate Chicago was the best". Thanks! I think Chatita has ended up being my favorite character!

Jarifa!

Thanks so much Cheryl.

The best part of that scene on the roof is the way that Jésus held Fernando in a wrestling hold and gave him all that advice about fighting for his love - that all is not lost - after all she is not dead, just gone to India. It was advice which he should have been giving to himself.

How will Fernando react to the new bonbon that Rogue is throwing in his way? Will he stay in the light?

Marisela needs a dress fr her date with Elias -- and she goes to Alma????? What does this chicky spend her money on? Secretaries don't make a fortune -- but .....

Güera

Love the title. Just great. And the "Veronica does the expected...". Yes, our lovely (physically) gal certainly knows how to get HER way, since that is all important.

My other favorite was Paty multitasking and how amazing that was since "tasking is rare with her anytime."

Your retreat in the mountains sounds wonderful Cheryl. I've thought of doing that kind of retreat right here at home. The closest I come is our trips to Charlotte, when I stop checking my email or watching my telenovelas. But not the same as your glorious experience.

I believe there may be one small typo in the recap. It's not "terka" but "terca". Which I know you know.

Thanks amiga. Couldn't watch this but sounds like there were some exciting moments!

OT: Blue Lass: I really like the Vegi brand chai latte mix (vegetarian but not vegan). I get the non-sweetened ones. The chai my meditation teacher brings to our Saturday session is really good. I'll have to ask her what brand she uses. As soon as I try the vegan one, I'll let you know how it compares to my fav Vegi Masala mix.

Welcome back, Cheryl! And thank you for the recap. I think this is the most eventful episode we've had in several weeks, not that that's saying much.

We saw another fast-twirling clock on Friday night, so I assume Susana did get some bereavement time off for her husband's death. They just don't do a very good job of communicating that these people have lives outside the office.

I loved how Paty was "multi-tasking more than we have ever seen her capable of since tasking is rare with her anytime."

I don't understand why Chucho ran up all those stairs to save Fernando. Why didn't he just fly? I assume he can. And the ringing phone drove me crazy. Since when does anyone on this show continue an intense conversation when a cell phone is ringing?

Does Gilberto's wife take a rolling pin with her everywhere she goes? Doesn't she know how to beat her husband with other household and office items? I have a stapler that would really leave a mark.

Maybe Alma and Chucho should think twice before using Marta for help with office morale. Marta may be good with kids, but her therapy hasn't done a thing for Vero. Then again, Vero may be incorrigible. She went to Marta for "help," but all she really wants is validation. And you KNOW you can't help people who aren't ready to be helped!

Cheryl--Great coverage. Couldn't hardly tell you'd been away.

Loved, too:
...trying to tame the bra that ate Chicago.
...Paty wants to rub her uhhh, ego against him a bit more...
...when what should appear but the most buxom and bumptious reindeer, I mean pleasure professional (Xmas has come and gone, but have we had New Year's yet?) Pablo, please don't go. (BTW, what did you mean by Jucho is like a cactus? Is he growing more spines? Is he getting jucier? Has he developed some healing properties? Is he good in soup? Is he getting rounder, greener, multiplying, sprouting pretty flowers? 'Cmon, amigo, I'm really dying to know.)

At the end of the epi, Chatita, The Wise One, is telling Alma that she's not going to tell Vero about Alma being in love with Jucho, because then Vero wouldn't trust her with her innermost secrets. And al reves, she's not going to tell Alma any of Vero's secrets (like how she's trying to reel Jucho back in) because then Alma wouldn't trust her with Alma's own innermost secrets. How wise is that??

I could have used less roof-top drama and more multi-tasking by Paty. She is so funny. I just love her. I'm just hoping against hope that she's the one that stops the wedding for ever and she and Rogue go off to spend her millions, since his are all gone.

After the weekend conversation, I had to look at Marta's eyebrows and Morticia's widows' peak. You guys nailed it. Somebody out there likes straight lines and angles.

Besides, Rogue won't have any problem with being a kept man, as long as he doesn't have to work.

There was a time when Cactus (nopalitos) were used to feed people and cows. Then, little by little they started finding that cactus helped to control diabetes when eaten raw with orange and pineapple juice, they started making tortillas out of them, and so on, every day we could hear a new property or good use we could get from them.
So Jesús, the more we know him, the more attributes we find he has. Just like a the humble cactus...
And for some who look for more: Thorny on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, LOL!!

Pati doesn't have millions. Aside from her klepto habit and Rogue's support, she is broke, although she keeps up the image of a wealthy heiress.

Thanks, Cheryl! I love your title.

Does Paty know about Rogue's criminal activities? I don't think she does. She is going to need to find a new meal ticket soon, because Rogue's not going to be able to support her when he's in jail, which I assume is where he'll end up.

Maybe she'll end up selling Avon! And she can steal from her clients during house calls. I'm sure Avon would love that.

Welcome back Cheryl.
I loved-when what should appear but the most buxom and bumptious reindeer
Couldn't stop laughing at Gil's wife and ginormous rolling pin.
I'm not liking Marisela very much, she should be ashamed of herself. She will never be lucky until she comes down from "high society". What a wannabe!!!

Sorry to be wrong--again! Blame it on fading memory or ginormous memory lapses.

So, if Rogelio's subsidy dried up, what is she going to live on? Oh, Rogue *does* get a salary from Avon--a big one. But he doesn't like to share as magnanimously as Alma does.

Maybe the first thing Paty should do is sell that ridiculous furry coat she's been wearing.

Thanks, Cheryl; that was great. Many funny lines were mentioned by others, so I'm going to go with "Paty...continues to pretend that perhaps Chucho is bringing more than hot coffee to her." Paty was really on tonight -- she just keeps getting better and better.

Does anybody know what Jesus was talking about when he asked for something, quick, to dissolve in water? Did someone need a hangover remedy, or did it have something to do with Fernando?

Thanks for the chai rec, Nanette -- I'll check it out.

-- Blue Lass, between gmail addresses

Blue, I wondered what he was talking about. It sounded like maybe it was something to help someone get some sleep? I didn't understand.

Now that Jesús likes gossipy more than the real ''secretaries'', he doesn't know how to tell everybody what he feels and was asking Susana for ''resignation'' pills, something to take and forget Alma and the love he feels for her.. Sadly, nobody payed attention to what he was asking!

Oh!! Maybe he should have tried some of Chatita's "memory" pills.

Yes, they're warm. She keeps them in the Baggsiere with the peanuts and the matches!!

Thanks, Pablo! Resignation pills, indeed -- I think he needs Speak Up pills.
