PEAM #71 - 06/17/13 - The Wedding of the Year or Is It In a Year or Maybe A Different Year?

Marta congratulates Alma on her upcoming wedding in Acapulco and says she'd like to come along.  Alma gathers her things and the two beauties leave.  Susana hesitates to come along with Sebastian, Alma assures her the arrival with Sebastian is fine with her and further has been approved by Rogelio.  She brings out her suitcase which she had ready all along just in case.  Xochi hesitates to go for whatever whine she gives about obsessing about her paint by numbers Daddy.  Chatita and Jesús discuss how he is so sad about the wedding so he isn't going for sure.  Chatita calls him on the heartbreak so he calls her on her supposed "memory problems."

Jessica rubs it in about the Descua article to a mopping Fernando, she just KNEW Descua was a bad one, as she arranges her long lovely legs in a sympathetic leaning in.

Jesús tries to be philosophical about things proceeding according to plans, but cannot really smile about the impending loss of his lovely Alma.

At the airport, Rogelio takes a call and thanks the person on the other end for the effective article on Descua and promises to send the money as agreed upon.

Jessica uses her many assets to cheer up Fernando assuring him she will do anything to help him.  She seems to think she has achieved some victory but we see him leaving the room, still inconsolable.

Alma tells Paty that she has some doubts about the marriage and Paty immediately tells her she can still repent.  No, no, Alma could never do that.  Then Veronica shows up and is disappointed that Jesús is definitely NOT coming to the wedding or Acapulco.  Vero looks like she only came so she could put the squeeze on Jesús so this is a big set back for her.

Chatita hugs and consoles the heartbroken Jesús. Only Chatita knows how he really feels.

Rogelio is so pained that he will not be able to perform his SuperMan tricks for his beloved Alma on their honeymoon when all he wants is to make her happy, and be close and loving.  He loves her so. He has some surprise to really relax her and she thinks it must be a whiskey but he says no much better than that. They kiss trying to make it look enjoyable for both but we are not buying it, are we.

Xochi is pouting to Jesús that she can't find her sperm-donor Dad or the clinic and her mother is no help.  He tells her how a friend spotted a picture of Veronica and Valentina on the internet and that was how he found out about his daughter all the way in Chicago.  Said daughter Valentina is acting cute in the office.  She seems much happier spending more time with Papa Jesús. At this lead on finding her S-D Dad, Xochi looks hopeful and grateful just in time to disappoint Julio who has just shown up at the door to scoop her up after work and misinterprets what he sees in Xochi's excitement towards Jesús.  Well maybe not 100%, Xochi still does feel too close to Jesús.

TopCop Delia gets an update that the phone calling records of (Marco, forgot is character's name here), were all to Rogelio.  Are you sure it isn't Fernando says TopCop Delia? No absolutely with Rogelio says the assistant. Delia calls Jesús to say she wants to know more about Rogelio now but Jesús informs her she will have to wait two weeks since he has just taken off for Acapulco for his wedding and honeymoon.  Fernando calls his brother pouting about not being in a mood for a wedding but he is here.  Rogelio must be growing into his/ I mean continuing to have pains and is as fussy as like a teething baby. Even Paty is going to have problems solving this little problem.

Delia is going to contact the Acapulco police to apprehend Rogelio for questioning so it looks like the wedding guest list is growing by leaps and bounds.

Valentina wants to know why she and Papa Jesús are not going to the wedding of his great friend Alma.  She also questions his truthiness as only a child can.

Marta shows up provocatively at Elias door and barges in to his great surprise and protests.

Fernando is in the bar in Acapulco and tells Rogelio that the person questioning their activities is none other than Jesús Garcia.

Alma begins to seriously hallucinate and replay all the kisses, and tender moments with Jesús and nothing with Rogelio the real bridegroom.  Veronica interrupts Alma's daydreams and wants to know really, really why didn't Jesús come to the wedding? Especially since Valentina wants so much to come to Acapulco and attend the wedding.  She dismisses Elias non-appearance but waxes singsongy about how perfect it would be to have her real family (make that Jesús) all together so they can reclaim the great love they had for each other in the past.  Alma looks a bit green around the gills at this assertion of Vero's and the envy is not lost on the calculating Veronica.

Marta talks Elias into sitting with her in his house so she can explain all.  She cries and begs forgiveness since she isn't usually or ever THAT kind of woman.  Elias starts to feel sorry for her. She gets up from the table but I keep waiting for her to swoop around and fling herself on Elias again, I'm just saying. But we have a lot of scenes to flit among tonight so we may not see it for a few days.

Jesús helps Valentina with her homework and they talk about his real feelings in losing Alma. Val seems to be channeling Chatita here, the only other person who always tells the truth. She does want to go to Acapulco so maybe this wedding really is going to get bigger and bigger.

Finally Fernando gets out the story about the phone call from Delia wanting to know about looking in the second store room. Rogelio is about to wring his neck but his INJURY starts to turn him into a shrieking mess again.  Fernando is actually trying to be brotherly and close, much to doggie dearest's disgust.  Rogelio curses his idiot brother and idiot brothers everywhere while the dog sits at the restaurant table and drools knowingly.

Elias calls Jesús and wants to talk to Valentina.  Jesús starts to make and excuse that Val is still awake because tomorrow is Saturday, but Elias says he doesn't have to excuse anything to him.

Elias and Valentina have a sweet conversation where she does all the assuring and ends with Elias saying he is so glad for her that she is having a happy time being with her Papa Jesús. Valentina can go straight into the diplomatic corps when she finishes elementary school.

Paty shows up at the impromptu girly talk Veronica has started and surprises Veronica who is slowly grinding in her points on being ever so close to Jesús.  Paty and she flash a glimpse of what kind of cat fight these two would be so good at it and hey, we aren't at the wedding yet so there is time.  Paty manages to turn the concerns to herself as Alma, but she asks Alma is this really your prince charming.  Alma begins to count his charms on the edge of one finger (no really she names several, especially SINCERE) Paty looses it a little bit, do you really think he is sincere? she snorts. Didn't he have a little dalliance at some point?  Alma is all concerned, what do you know Pato?? Absolutely nothing she says and staggers off exaggeratedly toward the lobby leaving a perplexed Alma alone in the dark (in so many ways).

Xochi shares her pain in looking for her nonexistent father to Maricela and tells her how lucky she is to have a millionaire father who does everything for her.  Oh yes, says Maricela it is soooooo lucky.

Ricardo stretches and hugs his bear, he has finally had a great night's sleep. The guards have left him to sleep well.

A fancy white box and a black clothing bag show up at Avon to be turned over by the delivery man to the idiot guards as an urgent special delivery.  Xochi wants to stash it in Alma's office for two weeks in her typical ostrich near a sand pile manner, but Maricela can't resist opening, feeling and discovering the lovely, silky wedding dress and they realize they are holding the success of the wedding in their hands.

Meanwhile, over in Acapulco Alma is making frantic calls about her dress not arriving yet.  Paty thinks this is a tragedy that may yet derail the wedding. Hope springs eternal.

Xochi fishes her cell phone out if a pocket and prepares to call, let's see, oh yes, wait for it, Jesús, typical of an hysteric she starts to ask him some complex question about when he is coming in rather than getting to the punch line.

Someone comes up to Fernando telling him he must talk to Rogelio about something very serious.

Sebastian and Susana walk along the beach talking about their former life and marriages. They look more relaxed and festive than anyone else.

Jesús and Valentina show up at the office and are joined in the discussion with personnel director, Cardenas who points out that the clothes have to be taken to Acapulco post haste and he knows that Jesús has two tickets to get there.  Jesús says under no circumstances will he use those tickets or go to Acapulco.  Sure, sure….

Coming to a beach near you: The wedding is set up, the bride has apparently found the lovely dress that only makes her want to confess that she really, really loves Jesús, but wait, Rogelio is interrupted with threats of storage room problems but manages to interrupt in turn the coming declaration from Alma when he screams, am I having a bad dream?  Oh you have no idea ole injured one… No idea!

Thank you , Cheryl, for your quick and excellent recap.

I loved Sanson at the restaurant table with Rogelio and Fernando. It seems that Rogelio is in more pain from his injury as time goes on. He is such a miserable character he cannot suffer too much for me.

A pending wedding and arrest. Looks like Jesus could be around to pick up the pieces besides being the delivery boy.

It should be entertaining.

Thanks for your recap Cheryl and putting it up so quickly.

I hope Elias was just a bad moment for Marta and she returns to some type of normalcy.

Jarifa, ITA w/you regarding Rog. Suffer, suffer, suffer.

So will we have a wedding or no? I'm hoping the writers surprise us or do something out of the ordinary.

Cheryl:

Thanks so much for this most excellent recap.

I so enjoy seeing Rogue suffer, I am with Jarifa and Karen, I hope this injury really makes him suffer more ; )

What was up with Xochi's wildly colored skirt? It was so different and her clothing seemed to fit her a bit better. It's too bad Julio misinterprets what he sees. He should know Chucho told him he isn't interested in Xochi, but no one listens do they? I like the advice Chucho gave Xochi though about putting her pic up on social media to see if maybe someone can connect her to her Dad. I hope she finds him.

Alma needs to wake up like yesterday already. She knows she is so not in love with Rogue. She needs to stop this wedding.

It will be interesting if the cops really stop this wedding. I am hoping they do, cause Alma will never make a decision.

Cheryl, I was afraid that Marta would bang Elias over the head with something. I think she is still crazy, but has more control at the moment. I can't wait to see what happens at the wedding with Veronica, Marta and Elias.

Thanks, Jarifa for adding Sanson's name. I was about to call him Sebastian but that is Alma's Papa Oh dear too many names.

Yes I agree with Karen too that Rogelio needs to suffer in a thousand little ways but I just know he can't do it in silence so I don't exactly look forward to his pie carts.

Mads, I don't think Marta is going to go away quietly either. She could go postal at any moment. I hope she gets help first.

Thanks for such a rapid recap, Cheryl. -- Little Valentina "can go straight into the diplomatic corps when she finishes elementary school." LOL
--That was a sweet phone call between her & Elias and Elias was cal & decent with Jésus. Nice moment.

Did Vero overplay her hand? Her remark to Alma about how she wants to get back wit Jésus because it is awful to let the love of your life get away. Are you listening, Alma?????

Fernando was so sad when he told Rogue than all he really wanted was Rogue's love. And I lost even more respect for Rogue when he told Sanson that he could never love Fernando because he's such an idiot. Cold! He should use his heart for an ice pack on that injury.

Susana never looked better than she did on the beach with Sebastian. She should lose that hairdo.

Güera

That's -- Elias was calm & decent -- and Vero wants to get back with Jésus.

Will I ever learn to type????

Cheryl..What a clearly-written, easy-to-follow recap. Thank you so much. There were awful storms again in my neighborhood so, of course, once again, lost Univision. But you really made it possible for me to not lose track of the storyline at this crucial point.....hope we have an arrest soon....very soon!

Dona Felipa

Great recap Cheryl. I hope we finally get to the wedding tonight. Who will stop it? So many options- Pati, Jesus, Alma, the cops?

Rogue was complaining that the humidity and heat was making the pain worse, hence all the whining. Too bad Rogue. And Fer first admitted to trying to commit suicide and being saved by Jesus. First Rogue was upset the Fer tried to kill himself, but then he got more upset that it was Jesus who saved him. Then Rogue really flipped when Fer admitted to calling the cops and setting up the bust on the bodega. Neither of them knows yet that Jesus is also a police informer.

Loved the looks Pati and Vero were giving each other, like their is only room for one b-tch here. Lol!

Thanks, Cheryl! I love when you recap any scene with a dog. :-) "Drools knowingly" perfectly describes poor Sanson. Rogue is lucky dogs can't talk.

I didn't see the scene where Eli called Valentina, so I'm curious - is Eli making nice with Chucho now? Or does their relationship still seem strained?

Vivi, thanks for clarifying the conversation between Fern and Rogue. I thought I heard Fernando talk about the suicide attempt but wasn't sure (no captions).

Did anyone else notice a weird jump/edit/cut when Alma was talking to Rogelio? It was in the scene where he was saying he had something to help her relax, JUST before she guessed that it was a whiskey. I couldn't tell whether there was just a problem with my recording, or if our friends at Looneyvision made a particularly awkward edit.

Thanks for the recap Cheryl. Seems we have everyone and everything in place for a mess of a wedding...busted wedding...busted wedding after the fact. Yish! Anticipation for once!

I guess they never heard of Fed Ex at Avon, so Chucho to the rescue. Val is such an adorable side-kick. Love how she was going right along with Mari and Xochi and even mimicking some of their gestures.

Rog might be funny most days, but wanted to kick him...well, you get my drift where with his attitude towards Ferny. Spoiled brat! have a feeling he's going to regret his lack of brotherly love.

I knew Marta was at the door when Elias went to answer, but was a bit surprised with the way she was trying to explain herself. Thought I was getting it wrong. So maybe she is schizophrenic and knows this about herself, but too ashamed to admit it? Something is off here.

Vero grows more arrogant with every breathe. Great love my eye. Would love to see Patimelt give her hell and take her on. We don't get many girl fights in TN's, this is one I could enjoy. If the wedding doesn't come off--Vero may get even worse in behavior. Think maybe they need to move more of Val's things over to Dad's.

So Sanson get a tux for the wedding?

Daisy

I didn't notice that glitch, Julie. Maybe I was not paying enough attention.

I don't think that Elias is making nice with Jésus -- but he was civil on the phone. When Jésus stared to justify that Vale was still up because it's not a school night, Elias told him he didn't need to justify his behavior. More than being nice to Jésus he was making a dig at Vero. It was like he was saying -I'm not the unreasonable one who requires explanations. that's wacky Vero.

Güera

Great recap Cheryl.

Top Cop Delia

Fussy like a teething baby

Alma alone in the dark (in so many ways)

Just some of my favorite lines.

I'm such a softie, I can stand to watch Fernando suffer! Now, Rogelio, that's another story.

The Rogelio actor is amazing, however. Even the whites of his eyes seem extra bright. (Can you bleach your eyes like you bleach your teeth? Ye gods, his seem almost iridescent!)

And yes, favorite scenes:

Valentina hamming it up with Marisela and Xochi, and Bitch 1 and Bitch 2 (Vero and Pati) sizing each other up. Love the instant, instinctive hostility of these two, even tho' they're not battling for the same man. Takes one to know one.

Ha! I did get to see that part (Vero meeting Paty) and was impressed by their hate-at-first-sight.

Thanks for describing Eli's attitude, Guera. I'm not totally enjoying the Eli/Chucho fallout, so I was hoping there was an end in sight. Not yet.

Actually, I'm not even feeling much suspense about the wedding. I know there are a zillion ways it can go wrong, but I'm not the least curious as to which way it will go. Maybe I'm just suffering from after-lunch doldrums, but I really need an interesting plot development. Like if Xochi and Yuri turn out to be twins separated at birth, or something like that. That might do it. (Think of all they could learn from one another!)

Julie:

Doldrums you, jamas! I was laughing so hard at Xochi and Uri possibly being twins, it was too funny!

Julie has an interesting imagination doesn't she?

Strangest scene to me last night was Susanna and Sebastien's walk along the beach. Both confessing to how they thought they had "killed" their respective spouses.

Susanna's guilt is unmerited. It was cigarette smoking that killed her husband.

Sebastien, on the other hand, has a lot to answer for. Although I admire his honesty, I'd certainly think twice before becoming involved with a man of that character. They say the best predictor of future action is past action. In that case...run, Susanna, run!

Great re-cap Cheryl, and great comments too!!!

I love the comment from daisynjay, "I guess they never heard of Fed Ex at Avon, so Chucho to the rescue"

Vivi's comments " Love the looks Pati and Vero were giving each other, like their is only room for one b-tch here"

And JudyB.'s "Bitch 1 and Bitch 2 .......even tho' they're not battling for the same man. Takes one to know one."

Classic Comments...(Too Funny)you guys are better the the folks who write these TNs.

Thanks por el recap, Cheryl!

Well, we knew they had to force Chucho to go to Acapulco somehow. Personally, I thought that since his job is to be Alma's personal assistant, she could have ordered him to go in case she needed any sort of assisting! Don't most weddings involve lots of little last-minute tasks? Wouldn't most wedding parties find it very handy to have an assistant on hand? But I guess that isn't enough drama.

Xochi and Mari are funny. I wonder why it didn't occur to them to call Alma and tell her the clothes were in the office. From the avances, it looks like maybe by the time Chucho arrives, Alma has maybe rushed to a boutique or something and gotten a new dress.

I wonder why no one in the office has mentioned that although Rogue supposedly hurt his hand, his hands look fine and he's walking funny.

Judy, I agree that the Rogelio actor is amazing. Erick Elias has been one of my favorite telenovios for years. He has such zazzle. It's kind of hard to believe this is the same guy who was the dying artist in ENDA or the nice guy in Niña de Mi Corazón.

Alma looked really annoyed at both Marta and Vero the entire episode. I think maybe she's starting to regret always being so nice and accommodating. These two witches both just invited themselves to her wedding! She barely even knows Marta!

I was screeching at Elias "Don't open the door!" like it was a horror movie when Marta knocked.

If Rogelio is in pain it's his own fault because he shouldn't be cheating on the woman he claims to love. And his cold reaction to Fernando makes me dislike him even more. I think Rogelio only loves Rogelio (and his dog). I don't think he even loves Alma. He just wants her so he can say that he has her and Jesus doesn't. Like she's some kind of prize. And his relationship with Patricia is just to boost his super-sized ego into thinking all these women want him when thee are two other men on there hotter than he is. What a jerk!

Me too Julia...I was afraid Marta might burst in there with a weapon...other than her sumptuous cleavage, of course.

Lee...thanks for those props. Now maybe Güera and I can forgive you for being annoyed with our darling Valentina (figured you were trying to get our dander up...no?)

Off-topic, who are you rooting for tonight. LeBron with the Heat, or Tony Parker with "those other guys"? ("Whom" are you rooting for? Must be careful with my grammar here.)

JudyB....yet another classic 'zinger from you: "Marta might burst in there with a weapon...other than her sumptuous cleavage, of course."

To answer your questions, I really don't have a dog in the NBA hunt. I admit Lebron is probably the best player in the NBA today, but the way he left Cleveland, still "gripe my grippers".

I had a former boss I did not like, who was from San Antonio, so I have a problem with the basketball team....too many bad memories.

Yes and no with the little Miss Valentina. When I was that age, if you commented on grown folks matters, you got a backhand across the mouth....sorry, still just sayin.

I hope you and I can get pass the little miss "mouth almighty" issue, but Guera is still mad about my negetive comments about the Syracuse Organgemen...lol

Guera, the Syracuse Chiefs is the AAA farm team of the Nationals...so I do like Syracuse the city.

I hope in Osorio's time this has been more than 40 days, because even when the pain of losing a loved one remains in the heart after the loss, there is a mourning dress code in México, and people dress in dark clother for a while. I am surprised Susana, who felt guilty in the beginning and didn't want anything to do with Sebastian, is now with him on the beach like a schoolgirl... what?

Vocabulary:
Darle vuelo a la hilacha - party to the heart content, like there's no tomorrow

When Alma flashbacks, we have to hear the same intro song again, the full version!!

1. I think Alma looks completely gorgeous with that high ponytail.
2. Poor Fernando! I really, really like him. I hope he ends up with Discua and is happy. I hope he stays away from evil Jessica!!!
3. I liked the part where Maricela thought Alma's dress was a bomb!
4. JUDYB - You're right! Obviously, Sebastian has no problem with cheating. He cheated on his wife and he wanted Susana to cheat on her husband. That kind of attitude is bad news.

Cheryl, I always enjoy your recaps so very much. You have a very entertaining way with words. I laughed hard my visual of the dog who "drools knowingly". Good one!

Daisy, I also had a chuckle at your suggestion of Sanson in a tux. I imagine he might look like Winston Churchill.

OK, I'm off to read tonight's recap...
