PEAM # 79- 6/27/13-Una Familia Con Suerte Names A New Northern Regional Director At An Unusual Board Meeting

Pancho begins by telling everyone that tonight is the big event.  Jesus is trying to find out, what event and Alma sidetracks him by saying that it is a surprise for Jesus.  Pancho’s phone rings, he excuses himself and tells Alma and Jesus not to miss him. Hahaha!!  Jesus and Alma share- “Que the heck” glances.  Alma is a little nervous but Jesus feels that they are good people and that there is nothing to worry about.  Jesus helps Alma to take off her lined coat??? (Why is she wearing that?)  They are alone and Alma thinks that it’s a bad idea that they traveled alone.  Jesus asks if she is scared??? (Wink, wink)  They look at each other as if they are ready to jump on the table in front of them.  We get some scenic photos of Nuevo Leon and then back to Avon.  Enter Dr, Loca- I mean Dr. Marta heading straight towards Marisela’s desk.  She wants to talk to her for 5 minutes. (Note to Marisela- you may need some mace for this chat)  Marisela agrees and Xochy and Susanna note the strange behavior of the psychiatrist who herself needs therapy.   Xochy asks Susanna about Don Sebastian.  They are taking it slow.  Susanna shares that in Acapulco she and Sebastian had a good time.  Paty the Back Stabber brings Rogue the memory stick.  (I hope that he had more than one)  Rogue wants to know if she slept with him.  Why no, Rogue are you jealous???  Paty the back stabber hugs Rogue.
Alma feels weird, but not because of Rogue.  She doesn’t want to be there for the complicated reasons.  Alma asks about Jesus and Vero.  She wants him to be happy and Jesus reminds Alma that his happiness is not with Vero.  Jesus asks Alma why did she ask about Vero at Rogue’s house?  Did she know something?? Then they share long, loving glances at each other.  She doesn’t know what he is talking about and gently takes her hand.  We can all feel the sexual tension. Candelaria aka Candy comes in and announces that the meeting will begin soon, inappropriately hits Jesus with her butt and gives out the folders, throwing Alma’s folder to her and gently handing Jesus his folder.  Alma throws daggers at this person.

Dr. Marta tells Marisela that she is owes her an apology about sending the photos of Elias.  It was childish!  Que the hell??  Did she have a lobotomy?? She was nervous and depressed and didn’t know what was she was thinking.  If they are going to fight for Elias, then it should be civilized.  This time Marisela acts like the fool.  Dr. Marta puts out her hand to shake and asks if they can be friends???  Marisela doesn’t buy it and tells the good doctor that she is super, super crazy.  The good doctor responds that she is a super, super little stupid girl.  (I guess that she didn’t get the lobotomy.)

Elias is having coffee with his lawyer and concedes that he has lost Vero.  The lawyer says that he is an honest lawyer (is that an oxymoron???)  He should quit while he is ahead.  Start a new life.
Alma is not pleased with the provocative attention that Candy is giving Jesus. Ahem!!!  Alma scolds Jesus for encouraging the behavior with his smile.  Which smile?? The smile makes me all warm and tingly, Jesus.  Alma zips her lips for a change.  Jesus asks about the reason for the meeting and Alma says that it’s about Rogue’s case and that Rogue is innocent until proven guilty.  Jesus is a giddy but bothered by Rogue being referred to as Alma’s husband.  He also knows that Alma knows something about Vero that she won’t tell him.  Come on Alma, tell me, we’re friends.  Jesus as a married woman, I don’t have the right to say anything about your wedding with Vero.
Rogue is touched by what the Klepto Back Stabber did for him.  For love, Rogue!!!! Paty didn’t say a word that he married Alma and Rogue reminds her that if because of Paty, Alma found out about them it would be over.  Paty asks the question of the hour- Explain to me, why I stay with you?? (Because you are a whore, have low self esteem, a back stabber, problems with relationships including commitment, likes to live dangerously, should I go on?Rogue says because she likes the status, the luxury, she  likes to suffer- bingo!  Paty goes on about how he married her best friend, will have a family with her and she is so fascinated, blah, blah, blah.

Jesus and Alma share an almost kiss glance and Rebeca, Pancho’s wife interrupts.  Jesus is introduced.  Pancho enters, speaking to his daughter, Lupita on the phone.  She is spoiled but don’t tell anyone.- LOL . To Pancho- family is the most important!  Jesus agrees about the family being the most important and Rebeca asks if he is married.  Alma answers not yet.  Pancho wonders why is it important to Alma??  Jesus tells the couple about 6 year old Val.  Rebeca asks Alma if she is going to have kids.  Silence.  Pancho thanks her for inviting them to their wedding but they couldn’t go the kids were sick.

Pancho begins the meeting about Rogelio Rivanera aka Rogue.  (Why are they screaming???) Candy brings food, tamales, quesadillas, cheese, hot chocolate and other delicacies to the board meeting.  Are they going to meet or eat???

Chatita is looking for Cardenas’ office and of course nosy Jessica and the 3 Stupids have to direct her to it.

Pancho introduces the board- his wife,  Executives Felipe and Victor.  Someone is missing.
Pancho speaks about importance of Human Capital and giving the workers the best living conditions and they want to continue to be leaders in the skin care market, etc. The missing person arrives, she was late because she in a conference with the legal authorities in Nuevo Leon about Rogue’s case.  Maria Jose is introduced to the Niño, Jesus.

Cinderella aka Vero is ironing when Elias comes to visit. Val wants to show him some of her drawings.  Elias is in disbelief.  Vero ironing!!! Elias will give Vero the divorce as soon as possible. Vero looks confused.

Vero can’t believe her ears.  Elias is claiming defeat at this  exhausting war.  Little Val wants to know- what’s up???

Maria Jose- Legal Director. Is ogling Jesus.  Pancho calls her to attention mixing up the words protest with context.  Maria Jose has to be called to attention once again for ogling Jesus. Alma does not happy at all.  Maria goes on to ay that a company with International notoriety cannot support delinquent behavior. Alma tries to defend Rogue, saying that he is not a delinquent and declaring his innocence. Jesus speaks up for Rogue (I’m not sure why??)  Rogue is not there to defend himself, he goes on.  Pancho tells Jesus that he has character but the decisions are made by a committee and the 2 Simpletons get up and are immediately silenced and seated.
Candy agrees with her sister in law, Rebeca and says that if someone is corrupt they have to pay.  Maria Jose tells Jesus that he is handsome but she is the legal expert. (How true, but inappropriate) Maria Jose speaks about upholding the public image of the company and Alma once again defends her hubby.  Jesus speaks up again.
Alma’s phone rings, she is reminded that cell phone are not permitted during disciplinary meetings.  Rogue is trying to find out what is going on at the meeting. (Side note- why do I feel like the Brady bunch is going to come down the stairs behind Rogue?) Alma will call him back.  Pancho keeps calling Alma everything but Alma, this time it’s Palma.  Every time the simpletons attempt to stand they are immediately seated. Jesus defends Rogue who is innocent until proven guilty and reminds Pancho that he was arrested once, which changes the direction of the conversation.  He was framed, it was an injustice.  Point taken, Jesus.  Since family is important and Rogue is a member of the family, they have to protect him.

Chatita finds Oliverio (Cárdenas) She brings him some cookies to thank him for introducing her to his square girlfriends (TVs)  She teases him that she put rat poison in the cookies.

Why are there so many commercials tonight?????  Or is it me????

Elias explains to Val the reason for the divorce.  They will divorce without fighting.  Val wants to know what is going on with mommy and Papa Jesus?? That little old lady folds her arms!!! What an actress!!!
Candy has written Jesus’ name in a heart on her ipad. (What does this have to do with the meeting???)  Candy tries to convince Pancho that everyone deserves a second chance.  He has a noble heart but he can’t run the company with his heart and the stakeholders are nervous, why is Candy showing what she wrote on her ipad.  Que the heck??
Jesus wants to have a press conference to clear the air.  Rogelio keeps calling.  (Why didn’t she shut off her phone???)  She leaves the phone on-  Rogue is removed from his post immediately.   Maria is on Rogue’s case calling him a rotten apple.  Maria wants him fired and Pancho is the only one who can fire him.  The next thing I know is that  Rebeca and Pancho share a kiss during the board meeting.(and this is why I stopped watching that novela.)
Rogue should be suspended.  Rogue is still listening.  Rogue doesn’t want Jesus to defend him or get involved.  Maria reads a declaration that means bottom line-Rogue has to be suspended until his case is cleared up. It doesn’t seem as if the women are really listening to Jesus, just looking through him. Alma has been named as the Northern Regional Director.  Rogue is against the decision and thankfully no one hears him.  He insults Pancho, but who cares??? Alma is shocked and thanks Jesus for trying.

Chatita asks Cárdenas an intimate question, while he is enjoying the cookies.  Chatita and Genevieve are worried about his feelings for Jessica.

Elias  will make an appointment with the lawyers and he feels that Vero is not sad over the news of the divorce.  Vero says that he deserves more like a family.  Elias reminds us that he is sterile and can’t have a family, he can adopt and he can always be close to Val and be happy.

Pancho calls Alma, Espiritu and she has to sign the memo naming her the new Northern Regional Director.  Jesus gives her words of confidence and they share a hug. Rebeca tells Alma that Pancho is never in a bad mood  ad he always has a smile on his face for his family no matter what.  Alma can’t say the same for her hubby.

Rogue is insulting Sanson for liking Jesus and the doorbell rings.  It’s Sebastian.

Cardenas shares with Chatita that Jessica is in love with Fern, Rogue’s brother.  Cardenas is not sure if Jessica is the woman of his dreams.  We shall see. Chatita tells him that she will be a sincere friend to him.  Cardenas appreciates the gesture.

Sebastian visits Rogue because he is worried about his legal case.  He wants to know where Rogue got the money to help him to get out of his financial ruin.  Rogue lies that it’s his father’s inheritance.  Sebastian is worried that all of his fortune is dirty money.  It’s perfectly legal.  Yeah right!!!! Sebastian wants clarity on his lover??

Alma tires to defend Rogelio’s mood on what is going on. Even she doesn’t believe it. Rebeca notes that Alma and Jesus are in love.  She notes their glances and her sixth sense tells her that love cannot be hidden.  It’s obvious!  There is nothing between Jesus and I.  It could have been.  Sure, Alma.

Pancho shares tequila with Pancho and shares pictures of Val on his ipad.  Pancho shares pictures of his twins on an old billfold. Being a father is a blessing and the two men bond.  Pancho shares that he is not a fan of Rogue and notes that Jesus is not a fan, either.  Jesus asks if Rogue came to visit Pancho awhile back by airplane.  Since Rogue lied that he saw Pancho outside of the office, Jesus asks if Pancho met with him.  Pancho tells Jesus that he is a good man and he hasn’t seen Rogue in over 6 months.

Coming attractions:
Jesus gets his surprise award and does he finally tell Alma how he really feels or suspects??

Comments:
I was a little scared in recapping this episode but it wasn't as silly as I expected so I might give UFCS another chance.

TJ:

Thanks so much for this wonderful, fab recap! If you didn't watch UFCS this must have been hard for you. The characters are just the same.

If Alma and Chucho don't realize they are in love, everyone else does, I had to laugh at all the women flirting with Chucho. Cande is known for it! Maria Jose I like in this role, she is also the singer of the theme song for this TN.

I felt sorry for both Elias and Vero tonight. They actually were honest with each other for a change. This will be really sad for Val especially.

You were right about Marta, TJ, I too wish she had had a lobotomy. She is still BSC, and I wonder why she wanted to make up and be friends with Maricela? That makes no sense.

So Rogue is out and Alma is in, it's about time. She has been doing all the work all along anyway. I also don't know why Patymelt takes Rogue's abuse. He treats her like crap and she's always at his beck and call, but then again, she steals from him, his credit card, etc. They really are made for each other. Maybe by the end of this TN they will be together, one can hope ; )

B-e-c-a-u-s-e s-h-e l-o-v-e-s h-i-m. (at least that's what she says)...

I am glad Alma went to Toluca with Jesús, at least so he could borrow her makeup kit! Did you see those cheeks? No, not those! Ok, ok, he looked like a baboon...

I am glad I could find yet another PEAM sticker in one of the computers in ''Toluca''.

Vocabulary:

Mientras sean peras o sean manzanas - While we know exactly what that is
Andar del tingo al tango - Being everywhere
Calmantes montes, alicantes pintos (and the rest) - take it easy
Ya veremos dijo un ciego (here Chatita changes ciego by RIGO -Tovar, who ended up blind) - we'll see

Trivia:
In another reference to TNs, Pancho calls María José María la del Barrio, María Mercedes and Marimar.

BTW since when María José is an actress? Well, at least ''acts'' better then Nancy, Delia's sidekick!

Tablet Jefa- You did a great job with this. In Familia, Pancho and Rebe were lovey dovey, but not like that. Not in the middle of a meeting. Pancho was always really good at getting results in these meetings, in his own folksy way. The way they are portraying Pacho, Rebe, and Cady here, they are caricatures of caricatures. They are flat versions of their original colorful characters. But Jesus and Alma are flat versions of colorless characters, so what can we do? Hopefully, the Familia characters can light a fire, or at least a spark, under Alma and Jesus and get them to DO SOMETHING about their feelings for each other.

Pablo- I laughed both when Pancho called Maria Jose Maria la del Barrio, and when he called Alma Espiritu.

I loved it when Marisela told Marta, "You know what time it is? Time to call one of your colleagues, coz you are super-loca!" Someone finally said it out loud!

I never get tired of that watch shtick -- it does sound better in Spanish, though. :)

Blue Lass- Yes. That was another funny moment, and just what Viewerville had been thinking. ;-)

Yay! Elias is giving up on Vero. Maybe now he and Chucho can become friends again.

Tablet Jefa, thanks for the great recap. "Dr. Loca" is so much better than Marta. I also wasn't too sure about the Pancho crew but really ended up enjoying them.

Chatita was at her best with the rat poison joke.

Jarifa

Thanks, TJ! Mace for Dr. Loca, yes!

I kinda wish the Brady kids had come down the stairs behind Rogue. This crossover with UFCS makes me feel as though anybody could show up at any time, totally out of context.

Pancho and Co. really were silly, but a bigger problem is that the high energy of Pancho and Candy really clashes with the low energy of Chucho and Alma.

Interesting that Alma didn't reply when Rebeca asked if she was going to have kids (though I must say, that's a very personal question you shouldn't ask a person you don't know well, and especially in a business setting, and extra-specially of a subordinate employee!)

I'm confused by Dr. Loca. Was her apology sincere, or was it just a ploy? She hasn't bothered Eli lately, but maybe it just takes a while for her crazy-switch to reset itself.

Lastly, Rebeca vs. Alma, side-by-side - I must revise what I said yesterday. Winner in each category:

Acting - Rebeca.
Face - Alma. Despite the excessive makeup, I think she has the better face/bone structure.
Figure - Rebeca, except for the legs.
Legs - Alma.
Voice - Alma. Judy reminded me yesterday about Rebeca's screeching. Alma never screeches. Maybe that's because she's not a good enough actress to make a really angry noise, but I don't care. I can't bear screeching.

Julie, I think Dr. Loca is supposed to have a split personality -- in the original creepy mirror-conversation, she called herself by two different names -- so I think her switch can be flipped at any time. In that sense she could have been perfectly sincere AND ALSO completely unreliable.

Could she cause serious damage to a lie detector machine?

Thanks, TJ, for all the great detail -- I finally got a chance to read the recap on my lunch hour. And yes, there were a million commercials, one right after another! I was wondering what was up with that as well.

Vero is delusional if she thinks she can get Jesus to love her. Even though she was sweet to Elias last night, I’m sure she’s going to pull out all the stops—including using Vale and emotional blackmail to get Jesus. If Vero ends up back with Elias, I want her to be the one who has to do some hardcore wooing.

I thought when Marta didn’t go ballistic when she heard Mari talking to Elias the other day, that maybe she’ll work through her probs and be a good candidate for Elias. Then when she apologized to Mari, I was glad to see she was better—then Mari walks away and she turns psycho-b***h again (Blue-forgot she’s has MPD).

Though the previews made it seem like Alma and Jesus are finally going to admit their feelings for each other—it’s probably either a trick or they’ll get interrupted. Maybe the show is waiting for half-way mark of the novela to have them declare their love for each other and the second half of the novela will be them trying to fight their feelings, while spending as much time together as they can. Sort of what is happening now. ☺

Recappers: awesome week. Thanks.

Nanette

Wasn't crazy about last night's episode so didn't pay attention at certain points. I guess not having watched Pancho's TN,a lot of the inside jokes and innuendos were lost in translation for me.

I can see why Chucho was defending Rog--that is his boss and you don't want to be badmouthing the leadership in a meeting. They can have an opinion, you work under the guy, you sort of have to keep quiet.
My guess is Alma takes over for Rog, and then she'll have Chucho take over her old job since a lot involved finance. He can finally ditch the stupid pink outfit. One thing you can say about TC--he can rock a suit.
Elias made me said, Val was so mature in that entire scene, and Vero can go drown in a hole. My only worry--who the heck will they now hook Elias up with. Mari or Marta--cripes, what a choice. Can't they do better for him?

meant to say FC rocks a suit. Typing and juggling chopsticks doesn't mix.

So if Jesus takes over for Alma -- and maybe Don Gil as well -- will he discover the frow-day????

Ok, let's review the roster (organization chart, I don't know how to call it):

Alma takes Rogelio's place (Pancho said that move was definitive. Does that mean that Rogelio, even after ''cleaning his name'' won't return to Avon?).

Jesús takes Alma's place, and with Fernando in jail, who will have all the time needed to accomplish everything, EVERYTHING, Fernando used to do? (NOT!!).

Doña Susana, as the oldest, I mean, more experienced, could take Fernando's place, but then Pánfilo could take her place, hahahahaha!
Or Chatita, or Verónica, or Patricia, or Marta, and so on...

I can almost hear Pánfilo saying:

SECRETARIO YO? JA-MAS!!
(at least not in that uniform)

Marta called herself two different names in her conversation with the mirror? I didn't even notice! (I was too busy trying to remember Gollum's other name, I guess!)

Daisy, you didn't really miss out on any inside UFCS jokes. All of Pancho's schtick that you saw is pretty much the entire joke. He gets everybody's name wrong, mixes up words, makes up words, and he laughs at his own jokes. It made more sense (and was sort of endearing) when it was HIS show and he was the underdog and always defending himself from enemies, but out of context it's just weird.

I don't think Alma needs anyone to take over her job. She can continue doing it just as she has been. Having Rogue's position won't put much more on her plate, because she was already doing his work.

Likewise, they don't need anyone to replace Fernando either, unless his solitaire games were somehow generating income for the company.

Hey, speaking of uniforms - did we EVER see Discua in that white outfit she wears in the opening credits? Maybe that's our clue that she'll come back? (I liked the effect she had on Fernando AND on Jessica - so I really miss her.)

Julie: missing Discua, too. It's funny, because I wouldn't say she's one of my fav characters, but I do miss her.

I really like the actor who plays Fernando. I think he's doing an excellent job of being a little s**t and being sincere.

I also liked the scene between Jesus and Pancho. Those two actors work well together.

Thanks, Tablet Jefa! You did a great job, despite your hesitation to venture into the crazy vortex that is UFCS! Or maybe because of it?

Anyway. That meeting was surreal. I felt like they brought in all the weirdness and irritating aspects of Cande and Pancho, but without a lot of the charm that UFCS also had. And making out in a disciplinary meeting? Really? I did enjoy Chucho's reactions to the absurdity.

I thought it was funny that Cardenas ate the entire plate of cookies while telling Chatita about his troubles.

Is Elias really moving on? Maybe he should go to Toluca and meet Cande. She's nuts, but not as nuts as Dr. Loca or as insufferable as Marisela.

I'm watching/scanning the finale of UFCS. I'm only 20 minutes in and already have seen SIX people I recognize from my previous/current TNs!!!

Julia- Elias can't go to Toluca, because then he would meet his twin (who is married to the awesome Pina), and time and space would implode from the two worlds colliding.

Other who need to stay away from Toluca, so that the world doesn’t end from their meeting their twin: Marisela, Cardenas, Vero’s lawyer, Xochi’s mom, and Yuri

Vivi:

Who was Xochi's Mom on UFCS? I remember everyone else but her, for some reason.

Vivi:

I remember now it she was Concepcion, how could I forget her? Lol, but she sure looked different in UFCS, lol.

Good recap TJ, I missed a little because the rain in D.C. delayed the start of the NATs game, that went extra innings... but I didn't miss any of the UFCS crowd, and the meeting with the folks from PEAM.

Julie, thanks for "some" concessions, but we should take into account that Rebecca is probably 10 to 15 years older than Alma.

Acting - Rebecca
Face - Rebecca ( Alma has a puffy round face)
Figure - Rebecca ( including the legs)
Voice - (Alma has a sweet voice, but she doesnot use it enough..Rebecca, can really roll her "R"s when she talk--I like that)

I would call for a vote on here, but there are too many females, and not enough males for a fair vote. (Females tend to pull for the underdog)

Also, Candy is no push-over, between Candy and Rebe, they can open doors without using their hands to knock(ers)....lol

MORE IMPORTANT... JudyB., how was your day today...."trouble don't last always". (TGIF)

Two more. That's a record for me. Usually it's one two or three people. And that doesn't count the people who weren't in the finale or ones I didn't recognize because they looked different, plus the broadcast was a bit fuzzy

I think Candy is better than either Alma or Rebecca in most categories!

Julie, I don't disagree with you on Candy....not at all

No celeb gossip on this site, please! Would you delete that?

Colunga has always been VERY PRIVATE, I don't believe he would allow that to permeate. So, no, I don't think it's true.

Has anybody seen the Allstate commercial? The one with the french model..
Not everything you see on the internet is true, LOL!

There is a whole lot of demonstrably incorrect stuff on Wikipedia. Regardless of what bits are or are not true, however, discussing the "personal" lives of the actors (unless it's a matter of legal record, like saying someone is a relative of another person) is against the rules of this blog. Gracias!

No real life news on Caray! We are trying to escape from real life...

You should see a little trash can icon next to the timestamp of your own comments. You can click that to delete.

Post Removed.....

I get it now... No Real Stuff, just Fantasy... I am cool with that....

Thank you to all who made sense of the characters and their roles from UFCS.
It would be nice for Jesus to be promoted and Rogue's job change was permanent- innocent or guilty. I'm glad.
This next phase should be interesting. I just hope that it doesn't get too silly because I enjoy watching Colunga.
