Qué Bonito Amor #48 (Mex 71.2-72) Wednesday 6/19/13 Much Ado About Nada

·                     Fernando monologues that he's met his match.  He's found a woman who isn't just looking for a good time.  He’s found a woman who only wants his love and for the first time, he's afeared!

·                     Elvira defends herself to her father against Maria's accusations.  Maria's a liar!  Concho asks Maria to tell him the truth and Colosso silently pleads with her to keep her mouth shut. Maria tells Concho it’s not a lie and it's time he knows who/what is daughter truly is.  Concho's pithed and tells Colosso to leave.  Maria begs for Colosso’s job, saying he's an important part of the bar. Concho tells her to mind her own beeswax.  To Colosso, he says no one, and I mean nadie touches my daughter. He leaves without another word.  Elvira threatens to make Maria's life miserable.  Colosso feels it's Elvira's fault.  Elvira continues to blame Maria.

·                     Jantos tells Fernando he's happy after speaking with his father.  More importantly, dad's going to help him get the proof so this can all be finally over and he can be feliz with his bonita,.

·                     Irasema is trying to leave, bags packed an all.  Prudy stops her.  Irasema says it's best for her to leave. Best for her and Susanito, given her past.  Prudy explains t'aint no big thing – that was in the past.  The honorable thing would be to stay and confront her past.  She must find a way to stay for Susanito’s sake.

·                     Ana tries to make Fernando jealous by flirting with Soñador.  Fer just tries to act as though he doesn't care.

·                     Concho and Lourdes gang up on Elvira.  Concho tells her the privileges are gone!  She may as well say goodbye to everything, “Adios carrito, adios mojitos and by the way I've sold the house.”  Mom is pithed.  Why is she being punished?  “For giving our daughter a lousy upbringing!” Concho replies.  They'll find out later where they're moving.  It's a fifth floor walkup – no elevator.  Elvira feels they're making too much out of nothing.  Moms tells her they're not cut out to be poor.  Elvira’s idea didn't work so now she, Elvira, will have to come up with a solution.  (maybe Elvira can sell some of her extensions?)

·                     Mirna flirts w/ponytailed mariachi, Aventurero  He flirts right back.  He tells her she only has to say “frog”, and he'll jump!  She tells him she wants exclusivity and threatens to tell Concho that Aventurero is like a butterfly jumping from flower to flower.  He doesn't want to talk now, he wants to talk about their next rendezvous.

·                     Colosso continues to claim his innocence to Maria, saying Elvira is the one that jumped him.  He continues to declare his love for Maria but she reminds him her heart belongs to another.
Fernando tells Colosso he'll go with him (after he’s fired) but is refused.  Colosso will continue to see him at the serenatas.  He offers Fer the keys to the mariachimobile but Fer refuses, joking that the sombrero doesn't fit him anyway.  Colosso insists a bet's a bet and asks that he wash it at least once a month.  Fer still refuses, the bet's forgotten.  Colosso continues to declare his love for Maria and refuses to give up. Fernando reminds him Maria's not for him.  Colosso is heart broken.  He'd do anything for her, anything so long as he could have her love.

·                     Maria tells Jantos she's sorry for Colosso's suffering.  Jantos doesn't pity him at all.  Maria's is his and Colosso's just going to have to deal with it.  Maria can't believe he could be so heartless.
He can't help it, he's jealous.  She explains that Colosso, like the rest of the mariachi are like her family and she has affection toward them.  She can't help it.  Jantos backs down, as usual, and apologizes.  It's just that he loves her so.  Maria, as usual, forgives him and seals it with a kiss.

·                     Concho isists Mirna cough up the deed/note.  She's not budging.  He's fed up with threats from both her and Lourdes.  She tells him he's not going to get rid of her that easily.  Concho explains no one is trying to get rid of her.  She's the favorite, albeit under his conditions.  She starts to coo and do that annoying tigre growl

·                     Colosso drowns his tears at another bar, “De Qui Merito Soy”.  He and Fer are tying one on.   Fer reminisces that his ma never warned him that unrequited love would hurt.  Colosso agrees love not only hurts but it burns deeply.  He's lost her completely.  He breaks into song, with feeling.  I love these songs!  Great songs to cry into your beer.  Unfortunately, I don’t know the title to this one.

·                     Maria visits w/Jantos.  She insists he go to the po po.  Those people deserve to be in jail.  He wants to talk about Del Olmo.  She reminds him she's the one who owes Del Olmo.  It's not up for discussion.  He doesn't want to wait for the day when Del Olmo comes looking for her for payment.  He plans to pay it back ASAP.  She's only concerned for his health.  He only cares for her wellbeing.  She changes the subject and announces her mom is making the mole for the Quinceañera.

·                     Aventurero welcomes Mirna to his love shack.  She tells him to take a cold shower and then they can discuss dinner plans.  We get a treat when he takes off his shirt before heading to the shower.  He jumps into the shower and as soon as he turns on the water, Mirna surprises him by joining him!  (that's what I call waterproof makeup!)

·                     Fer wonders if what's happening between Ana and Soñador could be real.  Colosso guesses correctly that Fer is jealous.  They toast to women.  Colosso thinks maybe Fer may have already lost that colibri (hummingbird).

·                     Jantos leaves Maria at home.  He promises to love her and give her every happiness.  She tells him he's the answer to all her dreams.

·                     Rodrigo happily dreams of Paloma but his dream quickly turns into a nightmare when Paloma suddenly turns into MeanGirl Vanesssa in mid kiss.  He awakes and thanks God it was only a nightmare.  Zzzzzzzzzz ah, go back to sleep.

·                     Amalia and Maria continue to prepare for Paloma's Quinceañera.  Amalia is very grateful to Colosso and Jantos for making it possible.  Maria tells her Jantos has also agreed to help with the mole.

·                     After class, Paloma and Rodrigo don their matching crazy hats (hey, maybe those are beanies!!).  As her back is turned, Vanessa plants a ginormous kiss on Rodrigo.  A cat fight ensues and teacher reminds them there is a zero tolerance for physical or emotional aggression.  “Don't MAKE me suspend you!” Vanessa blames Paloma, Paloma blames Vanessa.  Teach ends up taking them to the principal and will recommend expulsion.

·                     Gloria continues her recovery.  Daniela comes for a visit and tells her she is now a new Gloria and she will be a glory to her son.  She's shown him what a warrior she is and he will be very proud of her.  Sniff, sniff, knowing Daniela's gone through this in real life makes this scene extra touching.

·                     Paloma's freaking out.  Her family's going to kill her!  Rodri remembers what his mom has always said.  Essentially, put on a brave face even when times are as bleak.

·                     Maria massages Amalia's aching hands when Don Braulio comes pounding on her door to evict them!  He wants his money and wants it now.  He doesn't plan on waiting a day longer.  Maria protests that the extras he's charging are illegal and the renters are all going to unite against him. Braulio's not alarmed, he'll evict them all.  Too bad he doesn't have a mustache, otherwise I'm sure he'd be twisting it.

·                     Mexican version of Inspector Clouseau and his sidekick are at Del Olmo's office. They explain they plan to investigate the muchachas first.  Ruben demands to see a formal warrant.  They assure him that their next visit wiill be “official”.

·                     Maria continues to argue w/Don Braulio.  She threatens to charge him with harassment.  He changes his tune and leaves immediately.  Amalia is so proud.  Her education has paid off.  Maria seems a little nervous.

·                     Jantos meets up with Arnold, or better yet, beats up on him.  Arnold swears he had nothing to do with Bruno's death.  Jantos accuses him of being part of the gang that destroyed the lives of his family, Michael, and himself.  Arnold swears if he could have, he would have prevented Bruno's death.  Jantos wonders if he had anything to do with his kidnapping.  Arnold is all QTH?  He's only here to do business with some guy named Del Olmo.  Now Jantos is QTH?

·                     Amalia continues to worry that they won't have enough money for the Quinceañera.  Maria assures her everything will be ok.  There's no sacrifice so great that she wouldn't take for her family.  She will find away to settle her debt with Ruven.  She doesn't want to have anything to do with him. There's something aobut him that she doesn't like.  Gee, really?

·                     Jantos tells Fer he's sure now that OJ had nothing to do with his kidnapping.  Fer presumes that it had to have been Del Olmo.  Jantos wants nothing more than to keep him away from Maria.  Fer reminds him that until that hospital bill is paid off.......Jantos knows and he'll work 24/7 if he has to in order to pay it off.

·                     Speaking of the Orange One, he's pithed off that Arnold didn't nab Jantos when he had the chance.  If they aren't able to fool Del Olmo, the Padrino is sure to have them whacked! Arnold's worried that Jantos will seek revenge if he finds out what they did to him.  OJ tells him to choose, Jantos' revenge or the wrath of El Padrino!  Does he want to suffer the same fate as Bruno?

·                     Justo visits his son's depa.  He can't believe he's living this way and offers to get him some better digs.  Nothing doing, says Jantos.  This is his sanctuary and he’s been very happy here. When his father had given him everything, he wasn't happy.  Now when it appears he has nothing, he has love.  Love is complete happiness.

·                     OJ meets with Del Olmo.  They're arguing over money.  Maria knocks on the door and enters.  OJ seems smitten.  Ruh-roh!

I'm so sorry this is so late. I'm working nights this week -- sorry.

Anyone know the name of the song Colosso sings at the bar? Just my luck, I finally get a song on my night and I don't know the name. I didn't want to take more time to find out.

I picked up on OJ being instantly attracted to Maria and thought oh oh this means trouble. I also think Reuben noticed the reaction and was not pleased. Good maybe they can kill each other.

Oh for the love of God in a city of 25 million people Fat make that Dumb Arnold strolls along in the barrio, not the touristy Zona Rosa and runs into JAntos. As if but with him blabbing about the deal with Del Olmo JAntos has a lightbulb moment and now knows who his second big enemy is.

Fernando definitely didn't like Ana's behavior and it showed on his face. I thought the discussion he had with Coloso was interesting. It is obvious he doesn't have a fear of commitment he fears abandonment. That's why he keep all those ladies round, in case one goes there are others only now he only wants the one. This should be interesting to watch cause Angry Ana is going to put him through hell.

Seems like Amelia is resigned to JAntos and Maria. I still think she hopes it will all come to nothing and she'll have her daughter all to herself. The other day when Paloma asked her why she disliked JAntos she claimed she didn't dislike him but that he would go back to LA and disappear from their lives. Too bad she doesn't just sit down and ask him what he plans to do but I guess it so much more fun to imagine the worst and throw a wet blanket over your kids admiration of the man. I always remember my father telling us dogs and little children have the best judgement of people. Isa worships JA and the dog never makes a move on him (or on anyone else for that matter and Ruben deserves a good growl or bite).

So now both of her parents are onto Trampira and Lourdes is hot on the trail of Coloso to rip him like she did JAntos. I love the image of the two women having to live in a 5th floor walk up.

Coloso sings Infierno y Gloria

Kat, I didn't recognize that song either; sorry. I've run through the previews of his last two albums and it's not among that list.

It wouldn't matter what Amalia asked Jorge Alfredo or what he told her because she wouldn't believe it anyway. She is determined to believe the worst of him no matter what. The idea that she will lose Maria is stuck in her head even if she never voices it. Both she and Mancia need to realize that the time has to come when their children spread their wings and fly from the nest. Neither of these women wants their children to fully grow up.

The idea of the Mendozas living in yet a smaller apartment is ridiculous.

Now that Santos knows that there is a connexion between Giuliano and Ruben he needs to whisk Maria out of their way and while I like the idea of those two snakes killing each other, Maria needs to not be anywhere near either of them when that starts.

Urban

I know I shouldn't have laughed but when Amelia was talking about them having to move a more modest apartment and Maria's horrified reaction I couldn't help but think what could be more modest JAntos or Fernando's place. In any event we do know that in the end Maria will be living in a much less modest place.

Unfortunately I suspect that the two snakes are going to realize they have a common enemy and a way to get to him via Maria.

While Justo would like to see JAntos in a less shabby place he is smart enough to realize that her probably is safer where he is so long as the snakes don't discover where he lives.

Mancia was enjoying her triumph having Sue back safe with her but he certainly wiped the smile off her face when he said he would never smile again. She should be careful because sometimes you get what you want and find out if isn't what you thought it would be.

Paquita--I'm the one who is sorry I've gotten to the recap so late (I had to do justice to Eli's as well.) You are up to your usual best in the first few pp. Now, let me get back to the rest.

Ruben knows where Jorge Alfredo lives, but I don't think Bruno told Giuliano.

That means it wouldn't be a bad idea for him to move.

Where the hell did that scene take place? It didn't look like Ruben's normal office and that makes me wonder how Maria would know to look for him elsewhere. Also, we had one of those "Emergency Broadcast System" tests during that scene and I missed some dialogue. What "contract" was Giuliano referring to?

Gracia--to continue on the age thing. We were told in the storyline and description of the characters that, "The story begins when we meet Santos Martinez de la Garza (Jorge Salinas), a young (LOL!), handsome and carefree millionaire, who owns a car distribution company."

Our big question was--with Jorge Salinas playing the lead, where is the cut-off for "Young." That's why Vivi added the (LOL!).

UA--They were referring to the deal that in return for "something" OJ did, OJ would be paid $10 million USD (just the amount of money Padrino lost in Santos' car he was giving Michael).

It was a "business" deal of some sort, which I've already forgotten the quid pro quo.

@Anita: sorry Anita, I didn't read that storyline. My comment wasn't referred to that ;-)

It will be interesting to know what Giuliano did to merit $10 million dirty dollars. It's also possible that he is playing both sides against the middle, which will sign his death warrant.

Gracia--No need for perdonames! The story was presented at the very beginning of the telenovela. If Santos/Jorge Alfredo had been playing a 40 year old, we would all have been very happy and not made any comments about his age. But instead they made us believe that he was a young man, that's all. My comment referred to what did the writers consider young--27, 35, 40?

Anyway, it's late. You may not see this. Anita
