Qué Bonito Amor #53 (Mex 79-80.1) Wednesday 6/26/13 Arnold and Altagracia meet their Anvils, while a new one is ordered for Fabian.

It's my night to blog, so of course all I get is the tail end of Colosso holding the last note of a song. Go figure

·                     Tijuana – the popo have caught up with Jantos and Salvador.  They're taken into custody where he's shown a wanted poster for Santos.  Now he'll get to rot in jail while he awaits his extradition….or will he?  Santos and Salvador quickly get the best of the Keystone/TJ Cops and escape!

·                     Don Braulio has arrived at the Mendoza household armed with eviction orders and Colosso and Rodrigo kick him out instead, but not before his attorney leaves the eviction notice (orden de  desalojo)  – outside they meet with the real brains behind the eviction scheme – Ruben! – who pays them off handsomely.  Ruben thoughtbubbles about how Braulio has committed a crime without knowing it and now Ruben plans to take the vecindad for himself

·                     Dr. Mike,DDS takes love advice from another convict on his chances with Wendy – really?

·                     Doc gives Justo the bad news that Altagracia has very little time left on this earth.  Maybe just a few hours.

·                     Maria and Colosso run into Ruben as they're rushing off to fight the eviction.  Ruben is ready to “help” Maria again but he hadn't counted on Colosso being there to help her and quickly convinces Maria that Colosso's involvement will only hinder the process.

·                     Rodrigo and Paloma have a lover's spat (yawn....zzzzzz)

·                     Wendy the Whiner joins Justo to cry over Altagracia  waaaaah

·                     Jantos and Salvador continue their trek and finally get to the river but the current is too strong.  There must be another way.

·                     Arnold is busy throwing his stuff in a bag.  He's interrupted by a call from The Orange One who demands to know what he told the coppers.  OJ says it’s a shame their beautiful relationship should end this way.

·                     Ruben and Maria are at the police station.  Ruben accuses Don Braulio of falsifying the eviction notices and supporting paperwork.  He plans to file charges against him.

·                     Isa cries on Coloso's shoulder over Amalia's illness – waaaaah.  Ok, she's a kid so she gets a pass.  Colosso cheers her up by making her think she's Amalai's favorite.

·                     Rodrigo chases Palomo through the marketplace.  (yawn, zzzzzzzz)

·                     Gloria prays and is grateful for having succeeded in fighting the cancer.  Now she'll be able to be with her son again.

·                     Fernando is chased by 3 goons who do their best to blend into the background – NOT!!!!

·                     Elvira shares memories with Soñador about his mother, Socorro and how close they were.  He cries and she consoles him.  Mirna sees them through the window and snaps a photo of  them on her tele-inteligente (smartphone – yuk, yuk)

·                     Fernando is buying guitar strings when he spies the goons spying on him!  (quick, did everyone see the guy hiding behind that little tree?  Thought I'd point it out in case you missed him) Fernando does a quick two step and the chase is on.  He even does the old Starsky and Hutch slide-over-the-hood-of-a-car move!

·                     Maria and Ruben leave La Delegacion and she's ever so grateful for his help, again.  She insists on paying for everything, again.  She offers to make a payment on what she already owes him but he tells her Jantos already settled (finiquitó) that debt.  She's impactada.  QUE? She wonders why he didn't say anything to her and besides he's now in El Lay.  Ruben seizes this opportunity to announce that he's been given a divorce.  She's very sorry to hear that because she believes in marriage.  He offers her a ride home but she wisely says no.  After all, he's a divorced man and she's an engaged woman.  She prefers to walk.  Thanks anyway – toodles!

·                     Santos calls dad to tell him he wasn't able to cross the border.  Dad goes to the rescue.

·                     Lourdes tells Concho to tell Mirna once and for all that she (Lourdes) is the boss around here.  Mirna pulls out the phone – TARAN! - and shows Concho the pic of wifey embracing Soñador.  Concho is convinced she's having an affair.  What kind of example is that for their daughter. Uh, pot to kettle -- Concho wants her out of his sight!  She refuses and tells him she'll give him a taste of his own medicine!   See how he likes having a spouse throwing their affairs in his face.

·                     The chase continues and Fernando gives the goons the slip.

·                     Fernando is worn out and is limping back but walks right into the goons!  Who proceed to beat on him.

·                     Justo finds Santos and Salvador and plans to smuggle them across the border in his trunk.  He's going to use his diplomatic immunity to get him across.

·                     Altagracia continues to cry over her son, wanting to see him one last time. Wendy changes the subject to Michael.  Mom has known about Michael's feelings for Wendy for a long time now.  Wendy tells her that Michael has offered to be a father to her unborn baby.  But she's very confused and didn’t know how to respond.  Mom encourages her to accept Michael's offer.  He'd be a great dad and excellent hubby.  Life's too short – go for it.

·                     Goons try to beat it out of Fernando to tell them where Roxana is.  He refuses to give up the girl but they leave, promising to keep an eye on him until they find her.

·                     Mancia catches Irasema and Susanito canoodling, and in front of the image of Virgen de Guadalupe!  For shame!  Irasema tells Mancia she truly loves Sue and would do anything for his happiness (like maybe change his name)

·                     Fernando finds his way to Ana's depa and he passes out in her doorstep.

·                     Justo makes it to the border and shows them his diplomatic passport.  It gets dicey when border crossing dogs barking around his car.  False alarm.....he gets waved through.  Just in time too!  Because the border patrol gets an urgent word from another guard after Justo has passed through.

·                     Arnold is trying to get away.  He's under a freeway overpass but OJ has somehow found him. He pulls out the same gun that he used on Bruno and shazam!  Down goes Arnold!

·                     Ruh-roh, Fabian is ratting out Ruben to someone on the phone.  Has to be El Padrino, cuz he's speaking in Italiano.  He says Ruben is stupid in love over Maria – they have to get rid of him before he jeopardizes their operation.

·                     Ana nurses Fernando and he flirts with her etc, etc.  Soñador arrives and Fernando flat out asks him if there's anything going on between him and Ana.  Ana overhears and demands to know what business is it of Fer's if they are?

·                     Ruben gets a call from Don Vitoriano who apparently lets on that Fabian has ratted him out.  (and another anvil is forged)

·                     Cops catch up to Justo and demand that he open his trunk.  Justo claims diplomatic immunity but cop doesn't care.   Justo finally complies and pops the trunk.  They look and of course there's nothing there.  Justo assures them he will make note of this incident.

·                     Mancia doesn't care what Irasema says, she'll always be a …... shut your mouth!  Susie and Irasema assure her this is the real deal.  They're in lurve.  Irasema says the three of them all want the same thing.  They should all work through this together......etc, etc

·                     Ana and Soñador talk about Fernando while he's sleeping.  Soñador tells her she should look for love somewhere else if she doesn't think it's going to be with Fer.  She thanks him for his friendship.  They share a friendly hug and of course Fernando wakes just in time to see their embrace.

·                     Sue tries to butter up his mom with a good meal.  He doesn't understand why she won't accept his relationship with the happy hooker.  Mancia tells him she didn't make all those sacrifices to send him to a good school only to see him end up with this, this type of woman.  Susie tries to explain that Irasema has had a tough life.  She's really just an innocent...oh, Mancia doesn't let him finish.  “Dont' make me laugh,” she says.  “She knows everything about everything.  Mark my words, Susano Sanchez, that woman will make you suffer!  Sure as shootin' she will!”

·                     El Lay – The entire Santos family gathers around Altagracia, including Santos.  He tries to remain calm.  She's so grateful to see him.  He begs her not to leave them.  She's got plenty of years left with them.  They need her.   She tells him she's ready to leave now that he's found his love.  He speaks to her of Maria.  She's everything she would have wished for him.  Altagracia says she’ll die a happy woman.  She reminds him a mother's love endures even after death.  She gives one last cough and a gasp, and she's gone.  Justo looks on, having accepted this inevitable moment long ago.

Awesome recap! You condensed it down without losing anything! Excelente!

I can't believe they actually let Altagracia die! I am so bummed. I really liked her. I was hoping she'd snap out of it at the last minute, telenovela style.

Some heavy-duty beanie-tightening moments, but whatever, I'm going with it! LOL.

Great work, Paquita. You also covered the stuff I wasn't clear about.

I wasn't expecting it this soon, but Fabian turned on Ruben. Serves him right. I hope he has relatives to take the children (whom I'm starting to doubt we'll ever see).

Of course Santos will be arrested and that is why he can't go back to Mexico. We have to worry about how long it's going to take for the El Lay Keystone Kops to realize he did nothing wrong.

Hated Gracia's death. Justo and Santos are going to b devastated while Wendy will go into full blown whiny mode about how SHE misses her mama.

Hate Fab Not but am glad to see him turn on the Rat Bastard. I want to see Ruben's attentions turned away from Maria while JAntos is away. He certainly got his divorce muy pronto and I can't believe that Lorena let him go that easy. I suspect yet another lie on his part and I did smirk when Maria dropped her I'm engaged bombshell.

That apartment of Ana's puzzles me. I thought she said it was Sonador's and she was staying there until her own got fixed up. What confuses me is that Fernando shows up like it is Ana's, yet Sonador waltzes in with a key.

Please writers spare me another scene of the Mendoza girls sprawled all over their comatose mother sobbing and weeping.

Clever of Justo to drive to TJ to pick up Santos. Lucky for him and Santos that Salvador has some street smarts and had a plan. I wondered what was going on when the BP stopped him and ordered the trunk be opened but then remembered that on the Death Train Santos had told Sal he'd have a job for him. Since Santos was about cars I figured that Sal must have figured away to hide them in the trunk to the point they wouldn't be seen and voila! Safe.

The Concho Lourdes scene was ridiculous. All she had to do was tell him and nosy Mirna that Sonador was the man in question and he is the son of her dear friend but no he gets to be used by yet another woman to make some guy jealous. Tedious.

Hate what those previews show, Maria throwing another fit, JAntos not telling or not being given time to tell her the truth.

How much more time tdo we have. I'm reaching the I'm sick of most of the stupid characters and just want it to end stage.

Ay ay ay, Paquita, no Jalisco but No Te Rajes, si? Well done.

Loved: Dr. Mike, DDS taking love advice from a big burly convict.

ITA, yawn...zzzz over Rodrigo and Paloma *anything.* I'd rather have another song from Roddy, but I'd gladly take another yawn...zzz of R&P than another Gloria-thanking-the-Virgencita and Daniela scene (although I have to admit, I like her bandana'd do over her loose locks).

The moment we've all been waiting for--how Santos and Sal were going to get across the border and we get an empty trunk? Then he shows up in his dying mama's bedroom? C'mon, it would have been much more fun to watch that unfold than Paloma & Rodrigo running around.

Even though it was supposed to be impactante, to me it was a little creepy for Santos to be all over her while Justo just looked on. Where was Wendy? It should have been Justo embracing her in her last moments on earth. I know I know, there something "special" between a mother and her son, but this was a bit over the top. Sorry, rant over.

So we were faked out by much more than the empty trunk:

--Santos & Sal's too easy getaway from the Tijuana Police Station--as if they'd been there before, they knew just where the exits were and how to hide from patrol cars by tying your shoe.

--Ruben is going to double-cross Braulio. (Wonder how that will turn out for our no. 1 landlord.)

--Fab Not rats out Ruben and he knows how to speak Eye-talian (Who'd a thunk Fab Not is higher up in the Mafia ladder than we thought).

--Ruben telling Maria the truth about the debt. (We so knew he was going to make her indebted to him forevva).

--Fernando not getting away from the goons.

--Mirna taking tele-inteligente photos of Lourdes from what, outside, through a glass window and it comes out as a close up?

--OJ is ice cold to look Arnold in the eye and shoot him with what looks like something you would assault a fortress with. And he knew where Arnold was going to be?

Maria started school again, had to quit school to watch comatose mama 24/7. Coloso says she needs to go to school again and she agrees. She leaves mama to go to delegacion to file an action on Braulio. Mama had better wake up soon. This coming and going is all very hard on Maria.

Decie Girl--Like sister, like sister--if we are to believe tonight's phone call. They don't believe in listening.

Excuse me for bringing this up, but it has been bothering me for a couple of nights. As a comatose patient, Amalia has been bundled up with just her face in view. Isn't it kinda hot in that apartment? Maria wears off the shoulder tops whenever she is off duty.

Ok, here goes. Do comatose patients continue to void and defecate? I don't really know. How are they getting fluids into her without an IV?

Am I overthinking again? I guess this tn is so unbelievable I look for all the discrepencies. They didn't hesitate to take Amalia to the hospital the first time, why now?

Altagracia's expiration. We need Dr. Carlos' insight into whether this is a normal end for a brain aneurysm? I know we discussed it over on Amor Bravio no end, but Miriam's was an imposed fake diagnosis.

Anita

I won't get into the aspects of Coma Mama's care. There are all kinds of issue like keeping her hydrated but heck it is TN and the Mendozas apparently need to lay all over mama and weep. SMH

My understanding of aneurisms is that they are a bulge in a vein or artery and they can burst at any moment. My FIL died of a stomach aneurism and yet we had a friend who had one in his head for years so go figure. I don't know about the pain aspect, however.

So agree that Justo should have been right with Gracia not Santos. I really felt for him. I hate her death having been used as cheap plot device. She should live to see her children happy not die when one is under suspicion of a serious crime and the other is going to be an unwed mother.

I

Thanks for the recap! Was everybody in like stealth mode in this episode?

Glad Santos got to be with Gracia in her final moments. Too bad she had to get sick and die.

Well Arnold's death was pretty quick. Does that mean Giu is going to be responsible for the most deaths in this TN?

If Amalia shares the same fate as Gracis then thart would be sad.
--TF

Ruben may have realized he had no choice; Fernando was present when Santos paid him.

It's only been a day since Amalia's collapse. If they don't have Maria talking about incontinence pads or adult diapers soon I be screaming at the TV.

I hope that guy carrying the buckets remembers when he saw Braulio running down the stairs. That's the only thing they can use to hold him responsible for Almira's condition.

Hey everybody--If Amalia makes it, do we see a Justo-Amalia pairing in the end? [JUST KIDDING]

Never happen.

I'm more worried at the moment about the avances for tonight's episode.
We are now at the midpoint of the series.

How many episodes before Maria faints?

Anita

I had the same thought but it will never happen. He is a one woman manand Amelia would really be lost in his world.

The moment Maria faints i may be bailing. I'm disgusted at the thought they might give us another version of Gloria's story or worse have Maria marry someone she doesn't love.

Thank you, Paquita, for getting it all for us in this sad, weird episode. It was action packed, but seemed to be missing pieces. They must still be editing scenes, but if it gets us through this thing faster, that’s okay with me.

Anita, I think a Justo-Amalia pairing would be very cute. :)

So convenient of Arnold to go for a walk in the perfect place to be murdered. I know that I just love to stretch my legs under a freeway bridge whenever I know some maniac wants to kill me. And how DID OJ know where he was?

I didn’t know there were neurologists who made house calls in LA. Silly me.

I was also creeped out by Santos hugging his mama with dad watching from around the corner. And where the heck was Wendy? Chatting about the family news with her BFF, OJ? This TN would be so much improved if they just managed to have scenes include the logical people and positioned them in logical places. Is that too much to ask?

DCG, I think that apartment was Sonador’s. Fernando knew where it was because he had stopped in there before to try to talk to Ana. But that would be logical, so maybe not.

Ruben telling the truth. Who wudda thunk? And the sharks eating their own already. WTG. I have kinda liked smart-but-bad boy FabNot since the beginning, but I think Rub will outlive him and I just hope he does Rub some damage before his anvil makes him go splat.

Coma Mama, LOL! That whole thing is just plain ridiculous. She bumped her head on the coffee table and the doc somehow knows she suffered a psychological trauma. Right. Then, through some sort of magical brain scanning ability, he says if she doesn’t wake up, she’ll be brain dead. Then he leaves her at home to be hugged and wept on instead of giving her medical care in a hospital. Yes, people in comas need things like IVs and respirators, and they also need a proper diagnosis. I am thinking we are just being set up for another ‘Big Scene’ meant to make us clutch our hankies, but will instead make us throw things at the TV. Or maybe they really do intend to kill off all the moms in this show. So far, we’ve lost Santos’ mom, BartyBoy’s, Iresema’s, heard about Fernando’s, Sonador’s, and Bruno’s croaking, had a near miss with Roddy’s, and we’ve got Maria’s teetering on the brink. And I am all in favor of making the world a better place by offing Lourdes, Mancia and Lorena. I would hate to have those three be the only surviving moms. I think that’s all the moms that we’ve met so far. I am going to root for a complete momocide. No point in stopping partway.
