Amores Verdaderos #173 Fri 7/12/13 One Step Away from Pink Boot Hill

Arriaga and Lilly are having a screaming match in the middle of the nursery.  He wants Lilly back in his life, but she ain’t budging.  She tells him that she can’t and won’t accept Vicky.  She still believes that he has betrayed the memory of her mother and wants nothing to do with him.  He grabs her and tells her that he loves her and then leaves.  The blind, deaf and dumb customers continue to shop.  Later Lilly cries in a corner.  Arriaga will be happy without her.  He will have the son that he has always wanted, she says.

Sandwiches Are Our Friends

Nicky gives a rousing speech to group of bored bulimics and the medical staff at an eating disorder clinic that she has just opened.  Free medical care for everyone doesn’t even earn an applause from the emaciated ingrates.  The Ballsvaneras have magnanimously required the entire house staff to attend the PSA meeting and encouraged them to voluntarily use their own accrued PTO (paid time off) hours to support Nicky, who has always been so gracious and kind to her servants.  Bulimics are seated on the left side of the aisle, behind Adrianna, who is filming the PSA.  Non-bulimics and most of the medical staff are seated on the right.  As expected, the Ballsvanera employees have been directed to the rear of the room.  Nicky credits Adrianna, her mother’s support and Guzman’s love for her recovery.  Afterwards, Nikki is rushed by the eating disorder paparazzi and fans who are dying to know how she got her start vomiting.    Ironically, Nicky tells Guzman that she will not be able to eat lunch with him today.  Arriaga sadly shares the details of the argument with his daughter with Guzman.  Polita’s tells Jean Marie that Lilly has changed.

Don’t take that Dress off, Espanto, ‘cuz You Just Got Your A$$ Kicked by a Little Girl Wearing Pink Galoshes

It’s lunch time!  The store is empty and all of the employees have punched out.  Guzman arrives at the greenhouse in a Institio Elito company car and gets all up into Lilly and Arriaga’s business.  He wants Lilly to give Arriaga another chance.  Lilly tells him to mind his own damn business.  She reminds him that he acted like a jerk towards his own mother for a long time.  Guzman wants her to learn from his mistakes and reunite with her father.  Disney Princess Lilly doesn’t mind, she’s happy that Guzman Charming is showing concern for her relationship with her father.  He rushes off, but accidentally/intentionally leaves his phone on the pruning table.  While Lilly is getting relationship advice from a banzai tree, an old woman approaches her and asks Lilly to suggest a plant to decorate her balcony.  When Lilly turns to find a geranium, the old woman tries to grab her and chloroform her from behind.  At first, Lilly doesn’t realize that she is in danger, but she quickly catches on and defends herself ferociously.  She grabs Guzman’s phone, but Espanto keeps charging.  He tells Lilly that she is coming with him!  Espanto rips the granny wig from his head and reveals that he is the old woman!  At that point, Lilly, wearing some pink galoshes, commences to stomping his a$$ all over the greenhouse.  Espanto quickly realizes that Lilly ain’t no Disney punk b*tch after she shoves her foot all up in his nether region and almost permanently lodges one of those little Holly Hobbie boots in between his two butt cheeks.  Espanto falls to the floor, but comes up fighting dirty!  He shanks her in the gut with her own pruning shears and flees to his black Starsky and Hutch vehicle!  Guzman returns for his phone and discovers Lilly unconscious and gripping her side (yes, I said that right).  Guzman grabs some Bounty paper towels and stuffs them into her gaping wound.  He calls the paramedics. Afterwards, he calls Arriaga, but he doesn’t pick up.  Guzman asks Nicky to contact Arriaga for him.  A large crowd has congregated in front of the nursery, but Guzman, the security professional doesn’t lock up or secure the money.

Return Your Gangsta Card to the Main Office Immediately!

At what appears to be Vicky’s old apartment, Kendra is pacing and waiting for Espanto to call.  The nanny interrupts her vigil.  Mia has the chicken pox.  Kendra pushes the baby away and tells the nanny that Mia stinks and needs to be changed.  Espanto calls and tells Kendra that Lilly kicked his a$$. He’s blames Kendra for not telling him that Lilly Lee-Chan- Norris-Segal ‘s pink boots were lethal weapons.  That would have been handy information to know.  He tells Kendra that he thinks he’s killed Lilly.

Later, during mass, bruised Espanto is completely devastated.  He can never admit to anyone except God and Kendra that he just caught a beat down by a little girl!  He got rid of the evidence by wiping the pruning shears clean and tossing them down a drain.  While Kenda prays for another shot at the Ballsvanera millions, Espanto secretly hopes that Lilly dies and takes both that secret and those little pink boots to the grave with her.

First Day Back on the Job

At Meta Imagen, Anibal checks his mail and schedule with Gilda.  Gilda informs him that a man named Nicolai Koslov has left several messages for him.  The elevator opens and Nelson hobbles out on a cane.  Anibal mocks him.  He paid a lot of money for Nelson’s trip to Houston and he’s still limping.  Anibal expected better results for his money.  Anibal then says that the limp will be a lesson to Nelson that he should keep his mouth shut.  Nelson says that Anibal has taught him that revenge is best served cold.

Later, Espanto’s prayers for Lilly’s immediate expiration are interrupted when Kendra gets a phone call from her married lover.   Nelson tells Kendra that someone attempted to rob the greenhouse and stabbed Lilly.  Kendra tells Nelson that she’s on her way to the hospital because Mia has a rash and she will check on Lilly’s progress.  After hanging up, Kendra tells Espanto to keep his panties on.  They might have another chance at kidnapping Lilly.  They leave the church in separate directions.

Salsero Waltzes Back into Town

Bea and Guillo are strolling through a park on a sunny day.  A yellow World Cup soccer ball rolls out of the bushes with Salsero following closely behind it.  Hugs and kisses.  Later they all go out for lunch.  Salsero, Guzman and Arriaga have opened up a security business together.  Later the three go apartment shopping and Salsero writes a check for the down payment.  Everyone’s happy.  Beatriz says that she appreciates Salsero sacrificing his time and money for her and Guillo.

I Want My Daddy!

Pay attention close attention because this is about to get really confusing!  Lilly’s biological father, Dr. Celorio unknowingly comforts his daughter as she calls out for her father.  Is Lilly’s subconscious calling for Dr. Celorio or is she calling for Ariaga?  Lilly tells the Dr. that she doesn’t want to die.   Meanwhile, Arriaga is with Vicky and I’m thinking he’s having sympathy labor pregnancy symptoms because he’s been craving olives, crying and grabbing his stomach for the last couple of minutes.  Arriaga says that he felt the same way on the day that Christina died.  Arriaga does not realize that he is actually feeling Lilly’s pains, but he thinks that the argument with Lilly is getting to him.  He’s going bonkers because he misses her so much.  Vicky tries comforting him, but he just can’t get himself together.  Vicky vows to make Lilly like her.  Nicky arrives on foot and informs Arriaga that someone tried to rob the nursery and Lilly has been stabbed.  Arriaga explains that he turned his phone off during her speech and forgot to turn it on again.

Arriaga and Vicky have arrived at the hospital.  Arriaga pulls Guzman aside and demands to know the worst.  Meanwhile, Dr. Celorio unknowingly operates on his daughter.  She flatlines!  Blood is gushing everywhere.  He slams her in the chest with his fist, but it looks like they are going to lose her!  They pull out the defibrillator paddles and hit her with some sizzle.  She does not respond, but he’s relentless!  He will bring her back!  Out in the hallway, Arriaga continues to freak!  Vicky tells him to remember the good times with Lilly.  Vicky calls Adrianna and her father and tells them to get to the hospital right away! Adrianna grabs her belly as she leaves her apartment!  When Adrianna finally arrives at the hospital, Arriaga tells her that he thinks Lilly may not make it through the surgery.  Adrianna's stomach pains grow harder.  Later Vicky takes Adrianna to the OBGYN.  Nicky and Guzman have to leave for business.  Arriaga is left alone in the waiting area.

Great news!  The doctor revived Lilly!  It’s a miracle!  I don’t see how she won’t be a vegetable, but the Dr. Celorio says that she will be fine.  He sews her right up.  He tells everyone that he didn’t give up because before the operation, she begged him not to die.

Kendra arrives at the hospital and sends the nanny ahead with the baby while she checks with the nurse on Lilly’s progress.   The nurse tells Kendra that Lilly is still in surgery.  When Anibal walks in, she asks him about Lilly.  He tells her that Ballsvanera business is not hers.  He knows that she and Odd-ette videotaped Arriaga and Victoria in the hotel room.  He wonders if Nelson knows that she is the one who set up Victoria.  Kendra is shocked!  Credits.

Snark, snark, snark!

I love it! :D

Cynderella - You hit this one out of the park with the snark. Thank you for the recap!

Well, it was good to see Karate Kid Lili heeded Oprah's advice to never let a kidnapper take you to another location and to fight like h*ll, instead.

I couldn't decide if Espanto's costume reminded me of Ruth Buzzi's Gladys Ormphby character from the old Laugh-In daze or Dana Carvey's Church Lady ... doin' some sinning.

Lili's neon pink Wellies are so bright, they dominate the screen. Can they be nominated for a Televisa Tv y Novelas award of some sort? Supporting cast?

Ooooh, good call Cyn, on wondering whether Lili was reaching out to her bio-dad. That one never occurred to me. She started saying "papa" after he asked her 'who did this to you?' and I was worried that the doc might think her papa stabbed her.

AND on that same train of thought, it did not occur to me that ADri's stomach pains might be Lili-related instead of Braxton-Hicks or preemie time.

Some of those surgery scenes looked like the doc was picking out bits of the paper towels Guzman used to help stop the bleeding.

Maybe Anibal will do us all a favor and take out Kendra. That sure was a take-no-prisoners convo between them.

In the previews --- Vicente and Adri come face to face! MUST SEE TV!

Cynderella - Great recap. My favorites:

"Lili ain't no Disney punk b*tch"

"He can never tell anyone except God and Kendra that he just caught a beat down by a little girl!"

Doris - I vote for Ruth Buzzi's Gladys. lol

Loved Anibal putting Kendra in her place. Take that, b*tch!

My take is that Lili's "papa, papa" was all Jose Angel, but that Dr. Celorio did feel a special connection to Lili. Anyway, brimming with sweat, pumping her chest, and refusing against all odd to let her die, he was más sexy.

Jose Angel said he felt the same sympathy pains as he did when Cristina was dying. Okay, I'll forgive and forget that carelessly written ring toss.

Guzman saves Lili's life again. Oh noes, will she still think she has a shot? Roy, hear the news and come home.

What an exciting episode, and what a great recap to go with it. Thanks Cynderella.

They did a great job with that fight scene. Really good choreography. Better than the fights our big body guard guys have had, actually. Lili was really taking care of business. Had her broom not gotten caught on that overhead wire, Espanto would not have gotten to her with the shears. But boy, did he ever do his best to make sure it was a mortal wound when he did. Yikes! I think he was so brutal with the shears because his ego was so bruised from getting his butt kicked by a tiny girl. Nikki was so much easier to kidnap.

So now we have Lili, Adri, and Vicente all in the same place and primed for emotional reunions (Vicente and Adri) and bonding (between Lili and her doctor). Can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

It looked like they got some girls with real eating disorders for the opening of the Nikki inspired/Vicky funded center. They were all painfully thin. They certainly did look quite bored during the speech. You would think they'd at least look a little more excited about being featured in a hit telenovela. In any case, not sure their presence was helpful for any impressionable kids in the audience who are supposed to learn from this PSA on eating disorders.

Awesome!

So, Lilly is now a cut up.

Daddy saves Lilly.

Other daddy has psychokinesis.

Adriana's bebe has psychokinesis.

Anyball has time for a Kendra chat even though his favorite leverage is near death.

Candle lady seems perplexed as usual.

And, Arriga cries for the 900 time.

Cynderella: Your finest recap yet. Sassy, sensational snark. There were so many great lines it was almost impossible to pick but: "Espanto calls and tells Kendra that Lilly kicked his a$$" and "He’s blames Kendra for not telling him that Lilly Lee-Chan- Norris-Segal ‘s pink boots were lethal weapons" were my favorites.

"Shank" was the perfect word for Espanto's cruelty. What an unconscionable ego, to kill rather than kidnap her due to his wounded pride.

Wish there had been some other way for the truth about Lili to be revealed. I'm guessing (no spoiler) a blood transfusion will be next and that JA will not be a match.

Lili calling for her papa was sad and as you stated Cynderella, which one was she calling for?? And poor Adri...

Vincente was hawt, wasn't he? Niecie: "Anyway, brimming with sweat, pumping her chest, and refusing against all odd to let her die, he was más sexy" - ITA!

Loved how Anibal was so devastated by Lili's news that he stopped to zing Kendra with barbed wire comments. Shouldn't he have been rushing to Lili's side??

Hopefully, Lili's healing will begin with the formation of new relationships with her biological parents, strengthenig of her bond with her father and a peaceful truce with Nikki and Vicky.

So enjoyed your take on the hierarchy of seating at Nikki's speech: "Bulimics are seated on the left side of the aisle,...non-bulimics...are seated on the right....as expected, the Ballsvanera employees have been directed to the rear of the room.". The young woman seated on the aisle had an arm so painfully emaciated, my heart went out to her. As Vivi noted, that audience segment did seem bored and their presence seemed pointless and distracting. If they had seemed engaged it would have been one thing, but perhaps they felt the speech did not apply to them, and were in denial.

doris, I'm goig with Gladys Ormphby...;)

Among the many dots yet to be connected is the past catching up with Santino. The happy scenes with Guillo and Bea are disconcerting rather than comforting. I mean really, can Bea go more than a few days without another heartache? Sure hope I'm wrong.

Diana

Thanks, Cynderella, for a fabulous recap and great snark. You have such a dry sense of humor. I could not stop laughing.

Some of my favorites:

Nikki "...who has always been so gracious and kind to her servants."

"Nikki is rushed by the eating disorder paparazzi and fans who are dying to know how she got her start vomiting."

"...Lilly is getting relationship advice from a banzai tree…"

"Espanto rips the granny wig from his head and reveals that he's an old woman!"

"Lilly Lee-Chan-Norris-Segal"

Espanto's attack on Lilly was brutal. And the stabbing looked too real. This has to be the set up for the mother-father-and child reunion.

Nikki took another big step forward with her heartfelt apologies to JM and Poli.

I see an anvil moving into place over Salsero. His life has become too perfect - the security company is doing well, his relationships with Bea and Gui are great, they have a new apartment they love.

I loved Anyballs telling wide-eyed, shocked KendHo that he knows all about the video and "does Nelson know?" KendHo is not going to want Nilbrains to find out about that.

Doris - Ruth Buzzi - yes! First thing I thought of when Espy came hobbling into the nursery. I also thought Vicente might call the cops on JA when Lilly said "Papa" as he questioned her.

Barbara

Thanks for your recap Cynderella. I got a kick out of your observation about Lili handing Espanto his behind. ITA Vivi that was the best choreographed fight I've seen on this TN. It is horrible that Espanto stabbed her based on his pride of being beat down.

Though I didn't want her to get hurt, I had a feeling her injury would bring her in contact w/her bio Dad. I had the same reaction to her saying papa harkening back to Lili's initial reactions to Adriana.

Doris - your comparison of Ruth Buzzi and Dana Carvey to Espanto was hilarious.

Niecie - yes Doc Vincente was más sexy.

Diana - ITA with your guess about the transfusion. Since Gramps and spineless Cande won't tell, it will most likely have to be through medical reasons unless wimpy Nelson spills.

Barbara - Add me to the list of those concerned with Salero's anvil.

Wow, Cynderella, you really wowed me with this recap. You managed to extract excruciating humor while still capturing the intense drama of last night's episode.

My favorite line:

"Ironically, Nicky tells Guzman that she will not be able to eat lunch with him today."

That struck me as funny at the time and even more so when you said it.

As for the drama... I thought for a long moment there last night that Fieriana was actually going to die. Of course, all that I know to be true about TNs was silently shouting, "¡No puede ser!" but then I also could imagine how emotionally powerful it would be if she died. I also pictured how awfully devastated our gringo would be.

As it is, I rather like the direction the Orchid Storyline is taking. Maybe even an opportunity during her convalescence for some bonding between her and Nikki. I just hope there were some security cameras in the nursery so everyone in the family (especially José Ángel) can see and appreciate her fighting skills... I know that I was impressed.

And high marks to Espanto, though he lost the fight, he wins the award for best disguise. He's had some great ones but this was inspired.

Carlos

Cynderella--That was some snark you laid on us this episode. I would never have believed that what I watched was in anyway related to what you wrote. Fabulous treatment of what otherwise would have been rather maudlin and standard tn fare.

I agree the fight scene and the blood looked pretty real to me and I'm usually onto fake punches and chocolate syrup.

One thing about any blood transfusions, and our Carlos will have to aclarar--Cristina (QEPD) was a Balvanera so it won't matter what type the Angel is. I can't give blood to my daughter because she wound up with her dad's negative.

I realize Arriaga is a sensitive guy, but he wells up too often for my taste. Even though this situation was in extremis, poor Miss Vikki didn't know what to do for him.

Dr. Celorio is probably enough of a good doctor to recognize that Liliana was just coming around and probably was not answering his questions. My eyes welled up as I heard her say, papa, looking straight at Vicente.

What an unglamorous location for the romantic reunion we've all been waiting for--our busy hospital clinic waiting room. Dang, I'm going to miss that.

doris--lol and a haha, too--Supporting cast award for Lili's pink wellies. Could it be that they were cues for "Gladys" so he wouldn't really hit her? Kudos to Lili for learning aikiskidoo. She would have won, too.

Tell the truth, I was bored by Nikki's speech, too. Loving supportive people aren't enough, b/a sufferers need professional help, too. There's one thing we forget, except that Nikki was vulnerable and had a predisposition. I seem to remember she told Guzmi that it was Kendra that taught her how to do the porcelain throne trick to reduce and keep the weight off, yet still pretend to eat normally.

Vikki is a little further along in her pregnancy than Adri and they still have 2 months to go, so I was surprised (NOT) that she started having pains. Too many of our tn women deliver big bouncing preemies two or three months early, just like KendHo. It will probably be they are sympathetic symptoms to Lili in trouble since we saw her on her feet hugging Vicente in the avances.

Well, this is truly bye for now. Be back in a couple of weeks, sorely in need of an AV fix, only to find it ENDED, FINITO, boohoo.

I hope the Ikkis have a double wedding. Wouldn't that be fun. Bebe can be pushed up the aisle in the stroller JA wanted to buy when the in utero heir/ess was but 4 weeks old. I hope Lili rethinks her current position and serves as bridesmaid or maid-of-honor to both.

I wish forever happiness for Adri, Vicente and Lili. Roy will hang around Lili until she opens her eyes to him.

Maybe Bruna will finally get Joan Carlos to settle down even though he lost both Balvanera sisters. (I'm speculating here, don't panic.)

I hope Estefano, JM and Balzac (heh heh) get a nice wedding ceremony. Odette? She can sit on the Patio and watch re-runs of the wedding on YouTube.

Bea forgives Santino--she's going to stand by her man. OTOH, he committed some delitos, so he maybe looking at jail time. They may decide to move to Brazil and set up a branch of the security business.

I'll let you all decide on the weight of the anvils for all our favorite antagonistas.
Anita

Thank you Cynderella-----
One step away from pink boot hill.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Not the sweet Little Orchid. Even if it's true, don't say that.
This was a really sad show for me last night. The only tiny ray of sunshine came with Bea and Dances in the park--but that didn't last long-----Poor Lili. OMG! One of the best fight scenes ever, Little Orchid was really kicking A$$. To bad that her broom got snagged, as it turned out to be nearly fatal for her. I was almost sick last night but I guess that it had to be. I think that this near fatality is going to cause Lili to look at life differently. I also think that her recent attitude toward her father and Vikki will change and she might even come to accept Nikki. That goes for Nikki too. They are going to become close, I just know it. And just think that this tragedy might, yes, just might in some way bring Lili to learn of her real mother and father. It could happen. Will Cande now cave and tell the truth?

Cynderella---For me, this was a very dark episode but I have to hand it to you, your snark was incredible--yes, even though I have been a Lili fan from day one,
and she was near death---
you made me laugh. How??? With lines like---Don't take that dress off Espanto, 'cuz you just got your a$$ kicked by a little girl wearing pink galoshes.---and, He can never admit to anyone except God and Kendera that he just caught a beat down by a little girl.

Yes, the nursery was left wide open
after Lili was taken to the hospital---I guess that there was insurance to cover any losses.

Wow! things are moving right along.
An eating disorder clinic. Where did the money come from for that? That's big money, building, equipment, doctors. There was no previous mention of it.

Nikki did look beautiful last night
Frankie wasn't dressed well. Did he just get off of work?

The story is moving along well. Nikki will be involved in the clinic, she won't be waiting tables anymore. The guys have opened a bodyguard business, good for them.

Can't wait for Monday, things are really developing.
the gringo

Gringo- Just after the six month jump, when Nikki and Guzman were chatting in bed, she said that the support for the center came from Vicki. So that's where the money came from.

Anita - re the blood type. Our little Orchid could turn out to have neither JA's or Adriana's blood type. She might have Vicente's type…

Barbara

You know what's ironic. Had Lili decided to be a b*tch and go make a scene at the opening of Nikki's clinic, like Nikki did at the opening of Lili's greenhouse, then she would be perfectly fine now. That's what she gets for deciding her work was more inportant than revenge. :) I kid, I kid.

Carlos---Yes, I would have been devastated, that's for sure. I was nearly sick as I too thought that she might not pull through. You never know what the writers have in store for us. A Lili death? I don't know if I would have been able to follow through till the ending---I know, it's just a tn, just a tn, but you get so involved with the characters. If Lili had died on the operating table, yes I would have been completely devastated.

Anita---Odette sitting out on the patio watching re-runs of the wedding on You Tube---so funny.
the gringo

Anita- It wasn't Kendra who taught Nikki the vomiting trick, but it was another model.

Wasn't it great to see Sabrina (AdP) back working as Mia's Nana? I thought that she might still be in Africa.

Although I think I have a pretty good idea of what she was saying, is anyone certain of what Polita meant when she said:

"¿Quien iba a decir que mi amigocha y yo íbamos a terminar de la greña?

Me late que eso de covertirse en una Balvenera le cayó de peso."
?

Carlos

The awards season needs a new category: Best actor in drag. Espanto would win hands down, especially for last night and his version of Maude Frickert (in memory of Jonathan Winters).

Carlos- "a la greña" means fighting/arguing. Which is kind of funny because we all remember when Polita and Lili had an even bigger blow-up because Polita was mad Lili also had a crush on Guzman. And she stayed mad at Lili for a really long time because of that.

Not sure what the exact terminology is, but there are quite a few terms that I've heard that include pesar and usually means something bad. So basically, she knew Lili becoming a BV wouldn't lead to anything good/would be bad.

Barabara - you have a good theory that Lili's blood might only match Dr. Hottie's. I sure had not thought of that. Cande might have to make the big reveal --- "Um ... check Dr. Celorio's blood for a match."

Barbara that would be great if Lili needs Vicente's blood b/c then someone (I'm looking at you Cande) would have some explaining to do; this is TN logic on blood type not real world. I'm hoping it all comes out medically so no one has to rely on Gramps, Cande, or Nelson for the info. Unless Nelson were to show up at the hospital with the po-po and spill the beans - a fantasy of mine that ensures Gramps goes to jail.

Hi Everyone!

Regarding Lilli and Dr. Celorio. I think that Lilly was talking to the doctor when she was calling for her papa. She was looking into his eyes when she was saying papa. Remember the day that she felt Adrianna's pain when she found the rocks in the casket?

I was thinking that Espanto looked like the evil Disney witch who delivered the poison apple.

Thank you Gringo. It seems that you are the only one who got my Boot Hill reference.

Isn't Adrianna just as bad as her father? She had not shared with Joan Constantine that he is going to be a father. Isn't that kinda sorta like "kidnapping" his baby?

I liked all of the colors in the nursery. When Lilly was fighting Espanto, a lot of the flowers matched her boots.

Kendra: who dresses like that to attend church? Who takes a cell phone call in the middle of the aisle? Were they trying to get caught? Espanto LOOKED beat up. They were very conspicuous.

Anibal was funny with Nelson. OK, I'm evil. I know.

I kinda felt bad for the chicks with eating disorders. I felt like they were being paraded in front of us. I know the show was trying to help, but when I looked at the chick with the skinny arms, I felt bad for gawking at her. I don't know what I am trying to say.

One more thing. Guillo's talking about all the siblings he was going to have was kinda making me uncomfortable. I kept wondering if anyone has told him how babies are made and if so, wouldn't he be grossed out at the very thought of Salsero violating his mother? He wanted A LOT of bedrooms.

Blood typing may end up having nothing to do with finding out the truth about Lilly/Lucia. The writers use the blood transfusion ploy just enough to get our hopes up for a resolution, and then they send the story line off in another direction. So maybe there will be an "Ah-ha" moment but maybe there won't. I've been wrong so many times…

Barbara

Carlos:
Here's my best shot --

Quién iba a decir que mi amigocha y yo íbamos a terminar de la greña?

(Who would have said that my good friend and I would end up fighting?/Who was going to say that my good friend and I were going to end up in a hair-pulling match [greña = mop of hair]

Me late que eso de convertirse en una Balvanera le cayó de peso.

(It seems to me that this business of becoming a Balvanera didn't agree with her.)

Well, well Cynderella, you just click your little chrystal dance shoes and clouds of snark rise up over the moon, girl! I laughed so hard all the way through your recap. Great work as always!

I was just settling into the mood of wanting someone to slap Lilli silli when the Disney witch descended and I realized as annoying as she is with her immature ways, I didn't want her to bleed out on the nursery floor. I've been gone a couple of weeks off grid again so was pleased that Dr. Hottie turns out to be Lilli's real babydaddy. Oh My! Now to see the rest of this unfold in July.

If there was a David Letterman "Top Ten Funniest Cynderella lines": "Don’t take that Dress off, Espanto, ‘cuz You Just Got Your A$$ Kicked by a Little Girl Wearing Pink Galoshes " would be number one. Brilliant!

And I always love it when you do Disney Princess Lily with the line through Disney! Hahahaha!

What I find refreshing about this TN is that, unlike most of the other TNs I've seen, they give us some happy time with our favorite couples. I LOVE that we've gotten to witness Guzmi and Nikki in their humble love shack getting along for over six months. For us romance junkies, it's frustrating to watch TNs with star-crossed lovers the entire series until the boda at the end. Lookin at you, Amor de Pasion!!!

I've said it before, Cynderella, but you are a comic genius!

Katy

So: if you don't specifically tell the surgeon that you really don't want to die, he'll just give up. Good to know. Maybe I should pre-emptively tattoo on my abdomen: Dear Doctor, Please assume that I really don't want to die.
And then maybe: P.S. If you need to shock me, just set the paddles on me; you don't need to smack me with them at full force.

I did enjoy the meetup between Lili and Doc Hottie, though. And I'm really glad (from a story perspective, not that I'd really want anyone to get attacked) that Lili had a chance to show off her self-defense skills. That was a great fight scene. Guzmi should maybe take a first aid class, though. He looked like he was trying to dab up the blood, not stop more from coming out. I bet Zambrano would have been a better medic.

Nikki's speech was boring and uninspiring. So she recovered thanks to all her loving devotees? Great; so is there hope for less popular girls with eating disorders, who don't have a fan club adoring and supporting them at all times?

Super Mega Hiper Cool recap, Cynderella. Gracias.

Yesterday I said I thought Lili's prolonged reaction to JA and Vicky (and everything, really) was over the top. I have since realized, though, that it totally makes sense. The Balvaneras are Drama Queens, and Lili is not merely a Balvanera, she's a triple Balvanera! Birthed by one Balvanera sister, raised by a second, and getting the third as a stepmother. Of course she's going to take everything to infinity and beyond!

" I bet Zambrano would have been a better medic."
Absolutely, because he's got the EMT kit bag! ;o)

Cyn.....Wow..thanks for that masterpiece . I loved all the funny lines that have been mentionnned. (I knew that those hot pink boots would not go unnoticed.). However, I also enjoyed all your subheadings. , especially "Sandwiches are our friends."

Did anyone notice how Polita was struggling to get in the shot when Nikki was being interviewed after her speech. Nikki's head kept getting in the way, but Polita made a valiant effort to get her face in that shot.

Dr. Hotness is amazingly handsome. His looks alone have probably saved women patients. That face and bod could give you the will to live. ...I'm just say in'. Does anyone think that there is even the remote possibility that he and Adri will finally end up together ? How about if AwfulAnyballs has arranged an unfortunate accident to befall poor Carlos ?

I enjoyed that little meeting between the devil and the deep blue sea. The ho got her clock cleaned by oldAnyballs. it would be so sweet to see those two cancel each other out...but exactly how...I don't know.

Thanks Cyn. Just wonderful.

Katy, that was so true what you said about our starcrossed lovers of the tn world. On mornings, I watch Cuidado con el Angel and I get so frustrated about seemingly impossible avoidance to be together at last. And who could forget Un Refugio para el Amor where I really pleaded the tn writers to at least give us a week of blissful reunion before the story ended. I'm hopelessly romantic, what can I say.

Probably no one had notice my question the other day, regarding the Baby and nursemaid of Kendho. Is it possible that they were the same baby/nursemaid in Amor Bravio? I noticed the baby's hair and earing but she's a bit bigger and the nursemaid just really looked the same. I haven't bought the dvd (Amor Bravio) so I couldn't tell really.

I just am entertained by the many disguises of Espanto. Hahaha, Ruth Bussi/Gladys, yes!
Have a nice Sunday and can't wait for the finale week.

So sorry, ViVi, I read your response AFTER I wrote the above remarks and questions re Mia/nursemaid. And so Thanks for clearing it out to me about them.

Excellent recap Cynderella! You outdid yourself here.

I was waiting to see those boots get a reaction since I saw the episodes.

I think Caray Caray has changed the way I see telenovelas because I always think about the blog when watching them now. It adds a new dimension to the enjoyment. The other day I was watching an episode of Mentir Para Vivir and I thought "Univision is going to censor the whole scene" lol.

Anyway, the fight scene was exciting, I agree. Espanto's disguise was funny and OTT. I laughed at it even though I knew something was bound to happen to lead Liliana to her bio dad.

By the way, yes, Vicente was HOT in the scene in the operating room. We need more galanes playing doctors.

I can't get Amores out of my mind, the Little Orchid near death. It's going on two days now and I am still seeing sweet Lili lying in a pool of blood.
When the fight started, I knew that Lili would put up a good fight because Jose Angel taught her well. She was kicking Esplanto's but and my whole intermost being was yelling---GO LILI, TAKE HIM OUT!! GO GIRL!! Then
that terrible moment came when her broom got caught in something leaving her open and vulnerable to
the attack. As the pruning shears plunged into her midsection, I knew it was over. My stomach sank to the floor as blood started gushing from the wound. NO!!! NOT LILI!!! I was sick, I still am.

As Little Orchid was lying in the hospital weakly calling papa, I didn't get the feeling that it was some kind of a psychic thing that she was recognizing Dr. Vincente as her father. I took it as she wanted to get close to Jose Angel whom she had distanced herself from

I think that now, after her near death experience, Lili will draw closer to people she had distanced
herself/drawn away from---Jose Angel, Vikki and Nikki. She's going to look at live differently from this point on.

Roy, will Roy leave the tournment
to be with Lili? My guess is yes.

Espanto and the disguize---It was a hoot and yes, he should wear the dress from now on---he got his but kicked by Little Flower Girl.

I couldn't help but think, in a brief flashback that bulimiac Nikki
took on Lili more than once. Her sharp tongue was more active than her not so sharp brain. Well, that's in the past now. I'm sure that this terrible incident will help in bringing them together.

Can't wait for Monday night.

Sorry that this episode was so rough on your favorite gringo. At least Liliana got to show off her aikido training.

Maybe this will make you feel better: I found Sherlyn's gallery on esmas the other day. It has pictures from most of the telenovelas she has been in and some other projects. It's here.

Of note is that she played Erika Buenfil's adoptive daughter in Marisol, which I had completely forgotten about. Also, she played Eduardo Palomo's daughter in Huracán, so she's been the daughter of Juan Del Diablo twice now, heh.

I don't think she'll ever become a leading lady because her physicality (too short and young looking) and because she doesn't have family in the business to at least let her try it once. But, she's worked hard since she was a kid and I think she'll continue to have a very long career.

Jarocha

Thanks Jarocha---Yes, I know that Sherlyn was a child star--I know that she sang in the grupo K.I.D.S.
and has been in several novelas. She's very talented but I agree with you that her height works against her, too bad she isn't just an inch or two taller. Anyway, she can't help that. Maybe
she will be around a long time like Carmen Salinas.

Lol KIDS, they used to put their videos before the cartoon block on saturday mornings here.

I think what really kept Sherlyn at Televisa was the movie "Elisa Antes del Fin del Mundo". It was an extremely popular film and got many nominations at the Ariels (the Mexican version of the Oscar). Sherlyn was even nominated for best actress.

She was good in the movie, though I think she was overhyped because of the nature of the role and how popular the film was. But still, a nomination to the Ariel is worth 20+ TVyNovela awards, just ask Silvia Navarro. Sherlyn can say she got one at age 11.

On a side note, Silvia is in a Luis Estrada film and his films always get noticed so maybe her time has come :D. For all those who get mad that TVyNovelas never awards her, that's the award she'd love.

Gringo,

I'd been hoping that Lili would get to show her aikido stuff. And she did not disappoint. Like Carlos, I hope somehow Angel finds out how great she fought cause he would be so proud.

One of my favorite shows of all times is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and people have asked the creator Joss Whedon why he hired such a petite actress (Sarah Michelle Gellar) for the role. Among other things, he said despite her size she could "sell" a fight, that is, make the audience "buy" it and *feel* it. Well, Sherlyn proved she can "sell" a fight.

I too feel "papa, papa" was Lili reaching out for Angel. Lili's nature is sweet so her bitterness toward her father was taking a lot out of her. She would've made up with Angel soon and the rest too, but no doubt this near-death experience will speed that up. Plus we're in capitulos finales. :D

Cynderella,

Marvelous recap and loved the title. Pink Boot Hill indeed! Those boots were so very bright!

I too believe that Lili was calling for her Angel Papa. He was the last family she saw before the murder attempt. I am glad she is still in the land of the living. I liked how she kicked Inepto's butt, too bad she didn't knock him out. I am glad Frankie was there to get help. I hope this is a turning point for not just Lili, but everyone to start mending fences.

Kendho and Espanto in the church, where was the lightening? Jus' sayin'.

Anyoldballs Grumpy Gramps needs a huge infarto and Cande needs to dump his sorry butt. Even though she is dead to me right now, her life is in danger too. I really don't think that Anyoldballs ever loved her at all. I don't think he is capable of the emotion.

Poor Adri! I hope she is ok. I too agree that Adri's pains are probably Lili related.

Poor Angel is riddled with guilt again. He loves his little girl so much, he is in some major pain. I really like how Ms Vikki supports him, if only Lili could see that.

Can't wait for tonight when hopefully there is a run in with Dr. Hottie!

Great recap! Everything was perfecto! I'll never look at pink boots in the same way.

I would love for Kendra and Anibal to take each other out but what about Espanto? He has got to go as well.

Santino seems very mindful and repentant of his mis-deeds with Kendra. If Kendra and Espanto were gone, then no one would know about it. I know that seems unjustified to some, but Beatrice deserves some happiness and he definitely looks out for her and Guillo.

Something that I was thinking about after Wednesday's or Thursday's show...When Cande and Anibal were talking about being married and she wanted to finally let everyone know Lili's parentage - didn't he thought bubble something sinister about removing Cande if she continued on with that truth thing?

Yes, he thought-bubbled he would have to silence her.

IMHO Anibal is up for Cande having an unfortunate accident.

Jarocha---Thank you again for the ESMAS-link. I have both of the KIDS
cd albums so I knew about Sherlyn's early singing ability and I also have the Clase 406 novela, and Una Familia Con Suarte
where she not only acted but sang as well. I didn't know much about the things that she had been involved in other than what I just mentioned. ESMAS has a lot of good stuff, pictures and all, so I am happy to learn about that. I had been on Wikipedia, but not much else, so this site is great.

I have been reading the comments from the Caray bloggers all weekend
good comments all.

I can't wait for tonight's run. Things are really moving now and before we know it, the series will be over. The strange paradox for me is that I am always anxious to find out the secrets as the story ends, but when it finally does end,
I am always sad when it happens. You know, you get involved with the characters and the story and I always feel a little empty when it's all over. I don't think that I am the only one, there must be others that feel that way too.

Isn't Salsera responsible for both Kendra and Espanto being in the show in the first place? I really don't see any way for him to go unpunished. He seems to be going forward as though he has no plans to address his past crimes.

Carlos

Niecie...I loved Buffy , too !!!!! I loved Angel, but I also loved Reilly. Fickle much ...me ????? I agree. it was so much fun watching that tiny girl kick demon butt. Good analogy. Lili was kicking evil's a$$ just like Buffy.

gringo, I feel that watching a novela that you like is similar to reading a great book. you become so invested in the plot and the characters that when the book (telenovela) ends, you feel bummed. The characters become so real to you that you would like to keep reading about them even after happily ever after.

also, I liked the character Sherilyn played in Alborada...a sweet , poor , helpless young thing. she looked so cute in the frothy period dresses.

steamy hot here..highs 93-94 all week. As my funny, irreverent friend Genevieve told me when we were having lunch together and I said that I just could not live in Florida because I cannot stand the heat and humidity, " Just wait...you'll be living there, but it will be called Pennsylvania." I bet she would bring some great snark here...but she does not watch novelas...none of my buds do..not even the Spanish teacher !!!!!

Susalynn:

Buffy was my favorite show ever. I loved Angel too. I hated Riley back then but now I'm over it. I never liked Spike as a romantic partner for Buffy but I liked him as a character.

Jarocha

Gringo: I'm glad you liked the site. I liked remembering those telenovelas.

Jarocha

Jarocha...Same here..Spike was a very...ahhhhhh...interesting character bad..good, but I did not want him with Buffy.. I kept hoping that Angel would return in the last episode and he and Buffy would reunite, but he had spun off into his own show which I also enjoyed even though it got weirder and weirder.
Even though Angel seemed to be Buffy's soulmate...or maybe no soulmate..I liked the way Reilly treated her and they had a lot of chemistry. I have seen that actor in several movies and wish that he would be back on TV.. I watch David Boreanes on Bones sometimes...but it is just not Angel. His dad was a weatherman on TV in Philadelphia, and my college roommate had his sister as a student at the all girls parochial school where she taught near Philly.

I like David Boreanaz in Bones too but I'm just not very into those type of shows. After a while, all the episodes start feeling the same. I liked how Riley treated Buffy but it bothered me a little that he was upset that Buffy was stronger than him. I liked that he apologized for it when he came back in season 6. I'm glad he got his happy ending.

I liked Angel too, I wasn't fond of how Cordelia ended in that show but I liked the rest. It was darker than Buffy so it had more tragic deaths. I also wanted Angel and Buffy to somehow end up together but it didn't happen :( .
