Corazon Indomable Cap. 44 Thurs. 7-11-13: It’s a Three-Ring Circus, with Strong Men, Hoop Jumping, Shell Games, Clowns, and MariAle Walking the Tight Rope.

With Don Alejandro visiting Isla Dorada, the focus is on control of the casino—will Carola wrest ownership away from Don Ale (and MariAle)?  If that’s not high on your worry list, you can entertain yourself with the amorous schemes of Eduardo and Emir Karim.  If all else fails, you can play Fashion Police with the ladies’ gowns.

Hospitality at MariAle’s Villa
MariAle gives the baby to DA to hold. (repeat from previous night) He kisses his not-yet-claimed nieta and asks a blessing from God. He says MA’s amazing, although she counters that he still doesn’t love her.  He explains he couldn’t bear the guilt if he knew his daughter had suffered as she did. MA thinks the harder her life was, the more he should love her.

MA would like DA to have confidence in her (and she looks capable in a dark red power dress). He thinks she lacks only some experience and if he weren’t knockin’ on heaven’s door, he would give her the power of attorney. And speaking of his death, how will she live on her own?  No problema, she’ll be honest, have self respect and pride, and no one will stop her.

Men Playing Games
Teo confronts Ed and promises dire consequences await if he hurts Mareceli.  Our ditsy dame has moved to a motel and is ready for another trip with Ed to the big city. The benevolent hunk of brotherly love says nothing will save Ed from Teo’s wrath, as he grips the pilot’s neck for emphasis.

Mohammad escorts the excited Karim to a room with ultra-dim lighting, where the faux MariAle awaits his attentions. She looks convincing in such a shadowy setting, so they kiss and leave the rest to viewerville’s  imagination.  The results must have been satisfactory, since the Emir could consider a repeat visit.  He’s most pleased that he can laugh at MariAle and taunt her with the knowledge that he has possessed her proud self. (Yes, he’s a real connoisseur and such a sweet guy. If only our actor looked more evil.)

Later, Mohammad is pressing Karim about an event at home, but he can’t leave Golden Isle right now. And then there’s the invitation to the Mayor’s (Governor’s?) reception. Oh, these burdensome social obligations!  The Mayor’s beautiful daughter will be at the reception, which tempts the Emir to accept.

An Evening at the Casino Part I
Don Ale is playing with the baby on the bed when MariAle enters, dressed in a long purple gown (simple flowing lines, with accent cut-outs in the shoulders and neckline). He says she’s changed so much in a few months, she’s pretty but still stubborn. (‘Cuz she won’t stay away from the casino.)  He gives in, goes to change, and they make an impressive entrance on the boat deck.

Don Ale goes to Carola’s office, while MA stays on the deck as a target for Raiza’s mocking greeting.  (As usual, she never looks as good as MA.) Raiza joins the two owners in the office.  Carola leaves to make a confidential phone call in the hallway (which Teo just happens to overhear.)  The ads she posted on the casino sale won’t get any legitimate offers: they’ll be too low to accept or will be withdrawn later.

Don Ale is left to the company of our resident succubus, Raiza. She says she didn’t get to tell him good-bye at his house, since his arrogant so-called daughter kicked her out. DA murmurs that this has gone too far.  MariAle times her entrance perfectly and tells Raiza she needs some private conversation with DA.  When Raiza stays seated, MA opens the door and uses her Super-Mari mental force to move her out.

MA agrees that she asked Raiza to leave the house since she was just trying to bother them.  The only consolation for the younger sister is hearing Carola describe the lowball casino offers which Don Ale will surely reject.  Again, Teo is on the deck above and just happens to overhear.

Don Ale is sick and weak, but not stupid. He wants to confirm MariAle’s sincerity—why does she love him so much? Be honest with him!  She summarizes that all he did for her and Solita would be enough to love him. He brought them from a life of sorrow to a bright shiny life with no starvation.  She will always be different, because of him.  She will be grateful, always, and the only way to show it is to love him as if he were her father.  Tears fill their eyes as he reaches across the desk and they clasp hands.

An Evening at the Casino Part II
Busy bee Carola has concocted another scam.  The roulette wheel is rigged to keep winning for her paid assistant. Once he’s broken the bank, the croupier will shut down play, the helper will collect his fee and leave the island.  Not only will a chunk of cash disappear (into Caro’s account?), the broken bank will bring more of that bad juju to the casino sale.

Karim, still energized from his earlier “conquest”, is also anticipating a fruitful evening.  He wants to humiliate MariAle and wishes he could have kidnapped her instead of buying her. (Uh-oh. Let’s hope he doesn’t get carried away with this concept.)

Raiza is on deck, ready to greet the evening crowd. Eva, the new blonde hottie (not the governor’s daughter, but a casino employee), approaches.  Raiza doesn’t like her, but they converse. MA and DA are back on deck, although DA is returning to the office by himself.

Karim and entourage (the never-speaking wasters of space) come swarming into the personal space of the feminine trio. Karim gives Allah’s blessing to MA for the happiness she gave him. She looks at him quizzically. He expects her to sit with him tonight.  She says she can’t do it. He’ll wait for her, since he owns her. He wants to give her a gift in return for the pleasure she gave him. (Looks like eyebrow madam trained the faux MA very well in the art of pleasing men.)

MariAle is both puzzled and angry, thought bubbling “Who does he think he is? He talks like he slept with me, but she won’t let him insult her like that!” She leaves, while the two blondes are snickering at the damage to her  reputation.  Raiza then enjoys the side benefit of calling Eva a cheap hypocrite and insulting her pearl necklace as fake.

A Brief Message from Home
Solita and Tobias, left behind at home, are conversing.  Solita is sad and lonely, missing her sister.  Tobias comforts her, telling her home is the best place to care for her baby and herself and he is there for her. This seems to cheer up the silent sister, who has no share in the high fashion clothing allotment.

An Evening at the Casino Part III
Don Ale is examining the account books in the office.  MariAle joins him and Carola rushes in to say a roulette player is making a big run and could break the bank.  Caro thinks MA should go down and try to distract this guy (tipo) so he’ll lose.  He could ruin the casino, but DA says “If he’s that lucky, we’ll have to accept it.”

MA goes down to the casino and stands at the end of the roulette table to watch. Raiza is standing on the curving staircase, also watching.  Octavio and Eva are in the background crowd. The player keeps winning, keeps staking all his chips on his lucky number (black 13, I think), and keeps winning.  He drinks to his success and the crowd drinks in the thrill of the lucky run.  Another big bet and he’s done it—broken the bank!  The croupier shuts down play at that wheel and the set-up player goes to cash in his chips.

MA reports to DA in the office.  She’s sure it was a trap of Carola’s, but he shouldn’t let this disaster make him accept a lower offer from his partner. Don Ale feels unwell and wants to leave the confined office for some air on deck. MA helps him leave and they return to her villa.  She’s sure Caro is using dirty tactics to keep other buyers away, but Super Mari is determined to expose her as a traitor and thief!

News of the big payout is spreading, courtesy of Octavio. He knocks loudly at Ed’s door, waking up his grouchy co-pilot.  Ed doesn’t care that much, makes some remark about MariCruz3, and tells Tav to turn out the light and leave.

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch
Just so we don’t forget the wonderful crew that supports life at the hacienda, we see a conversation at the stable with Ewwsebio and Jose Antonio.  Ever since Lucia berated him for drinking and broke his bottle, Eww has been drinking from a flask.  His brilliant mind must have persuaded him that this conceals his constant tippling. Eww brags that he said he’d get his job back. JA thinks the continued drinking will make him lose it again.  No, no (thwack!) Sra. Lucia stands up for him, he’s bullet-proof and can’t be fired. He hints that JA was involved because he was asked to lure MC away from Octavio.

Eww continues his fascinating discourse, while JA wearily listens to the drunken ramblings. Lots of bad things have happened. (It’s that bad juju again!)  “It’s Sra. Lucia’s fault that the old man died, ‘cuz she got MC arrested and he died while she was in jail.  The necklace was a trap and I know that, so Sra. Lucia can’t fire me. I’ll tell the sheriff when it benefits me!” (Lucia should be feeling creepy crawlies up her back about now, but she’s probably busy looking in the mirror.)

Security On Patrol?
Carola is paying her hired gun with a check.  He earned a few thousand for his work, although people think he won $500,000.  Caro reminds him that’s another reason he needs to leave the island immediately.  She gleefully thinks she only has to wait for results.

In the parking lot, the player is held up at gunpoint by a hooded robber who wants everything! Oh noes! He only has a small amount and shows the $4,000 check to prove it.  The voice and the hump on the robber seem familiar as he instructs the guy to give him the check, skedaddle and tell everyone the Skunk robbed him.  Once his victim is gone, the robber pulls back his hood to reveal Teo, rejoicing in his newly acquired proof of Caro’s thievery.

Coming Attraction:  Doris, the daughter of the big shot (Mayor or Governor), arrives at the reception and meets Octavio.

Next Thursday is Premios Juventud, with no TNs that night. The two weeks after that are in the skilled hands of the substitute recappers. I'll be on vacation, with no definite access to Univision or a computer. I'll try to watch if possible, so I don't miss any excitement! Thanks to the subs for filling in!

Lively recap, la Paloma...I enjoyed it. Especially since I only saw bits and pieces of this (cooking dinner, putting away laundry...ah, my glamorous life!)

Favorite lines:

"benevolent hunk of brotherly love" (made me think of Elvis...hunkahunkaburnin'love!)

"resident succubus" (perfect description of Raiza!)

and

"just so we don't forget the wonderful crew that supports life at the hacienda"

Jose Antonio is usually great eye candy but last night, in his attempts to look puzzled, he looked doped out on Quaaludes instead. Oh well, still a dear lad

Enjoy your vacation m'dear. Sounds like you're going somewhere exotic. So much the better!

Thank you for the wonderful recap, La Paloma! Enjoy your vacation and don't worry, we've got your back!

MC thinks that she'll be able to support herself, her daughter, her sister and her niece with honesty, self respect and pride? LOL, yeah, because there are no poor fools in this world...

Right now I think Don Ale has all the reasons in the world to be suspicious of MC, not Carola, his business partner of many, many years.
MC was sent to the island to help him, be his proxy, not go against his opinions and start making up stuff about being his daughter. Of course we know this is the truth and that MC's intentions are honest (totally uncalled for and exaggerated, but honest), but Don Aled doesn't know any of it, so why does he put up with a 19 years old who acts like she knows everything there is to know about Casino business and always disapproves his plans for HIS company?

Thanks for the great recap La Paloma. Wish you fair skies and fun times on your vacation!!

Felt like filler last night, and no big surprise seeing Teo as the robber. Yawn. Still miffed at how poor Don Ale is having to deal with all the shenanigans and not taking care of his health. As ill as he is, he should at least have a nurse or someone checking on him like Tobias did. And where is the friggin' wheelchair for this man!! ( Nelson Brizz isn't using his anymore--send it over now).

Thought Teo went a bit overboard in his threats to Ed last night. Yes, Ari is immature and Ed should back off or take it slow. But threatening the guy's life...would Teo really go that far? hmmmmm

Someone just off Ewwwsssubio now so we can get him off our screens. Well, I guess after he spills the beans on Luciafer, but make that VERY soon. Just listening to him makes my screen crawl.

Muhammed's setup was lain creepy and the fact that Karim fell for that. Has he no night vision? The room wasn't THAT dark.

Still not an MC fan on how she's dealing with things. When Don Ale asked her "why" I started mumbling to myself her answer should be " because I want the casino for myself when you kick off and I'm still ticked at you for deserting me...though I lurv you really". Too bad it's not Solita who is his real daughter.

Speaking of who--thanks for the token catch up Mrs. Meija that reminds us once again this poor girl is everyone's after thought, except for poor Tobias bless him.

I love the tenderness between Solita and Tobias. Don't know if I want to see a fatherly relationship develop or a romantic one. But I do see these two, with the bebito, as a family of sorts.

La Paloma- Have a wonderful vacation, and thank you for giving us another marvelous recap before you go.

I know all the reasons given for Mari’s obsession with the casino and being on Isla Dorada. But can’t she see how much happier and healthier Don Ailing would be if he were at home playing with her baby in bed, instead of at the casino trying to break up the unending cat fights between her and Carola, and her and Raiza, and her and…well, EVERYONE! Let the man sell the casino and be done with it. Ya! Basta!

Another potential heart attack moment for him is if Karim, and others, openly claim Mari slept with Karim for money. Just the suggestion alone might be enough to kill him. Hopefully, Karim will mention a date, and Don Ailing can prove Karim was duped by letting him know he was hanging out with Mari at the time and that would not have been possible.

I also really enjoyed that too short scene of Tobi and Solita. Who would have known the guy would turn into such a big softie? I think he sees Solita as a daughter (plus he is WAY too old for her), and the baby will be like his grandchild. Solita is in much better hands under his constant care, than she would be as an afterthought with Mari on the island. I still like Mari, but she is not being a very good sister or daughter right now. I'm not going to judge her mothering skills, because we haven't seen enough of it yet. But since her mornings and days are mostly free, it seems like she is spending lots of bonding time with MiniCruz, sitting by the big ocean view window, and whispering sweet fairytales of vengeance and revenge in her little baby's ear. :)

Thanks, LaPaloma, and have a wonderful vaca.

Daisynjay and Judyb....I completely agree about the relationship developing between Solita and Tobias. Tobias has certainly stepped into the role of protector. He treats her with such tenderness and affection.

Paloma,

this is wickedly funny. My favorite:

" Ever since Lucia berated him for drinking and broke his bottle, Eww has been drinking from a flask."

He's disgusting and terrible, but at least he learns from his mistakes and adapts...executive material.

I'm really enjoying this show. So Karim thinks that he's payed to have sex with Maricruz under rather bizarre conditions and now he wants to make fun of her? This guy clearly missed the whole high school experience.

A guy is breaking the casino by winning turn after turn of the wheel and betting the same number, the croupier is sweating bullets, and we chalk it up to luck?

I think Maricruz is doing a bangup job as a new mother... "Hey Juanita, this un-named baby girl needs changing."

Carlos

Thank you for a super recap. Your recap was filled with so many great lines but one right up front caught my eye especially---MA would like DA to have confidence in her [and she looks capable in a dark red power dress.] YES!

Just so we don't forget the wonderful crew that supports life at the hacienda---the wonderful crew? What a hoot. Another great one La Paloma.

La Paloma---Have LOT'S of vacation fun.

Ed is sleeping but is awakened by oblivio. Ed gets out of bed with his hair neatly combed---Don Ale leaves Corola's office without his cane barely able to walk. In the next scene, he arrives at Mari's apartment with his cane. Come on Televisa crew, get it together.

Vivi---I see that you got through yesterday ok with your group of young ones and you are right back on track.-----Sitting by the window
and whispering sweet fairytales of vengeance in her sweet baby's ear.

Vivi---NO! a BIG NO!!! Do not sell the casino. Don't let evil win, NO!
NO! Never.

The roulette wheel is rigged to keep winning for her paid assistent. QUE!!! If word of illegal gambleing gets out, DA won't have to worry about selling the casino, it will be shut down.

Thanks for the recap!

I am getting frustrated with the lack of positive progress. I really need something super great to happen to Don Ale, Solitary or MC soon. I feel like I'm watching a show called Evil Doers Win.

Thanks for the recap La Paloma. I really enjoyed your fashion comments and enjoy your vacation.

Karim continues to be crazy. A kidnapping could kill DA so let's just pass on that.

Carvivlie - LOL on "Evil Doers Win" and ITA. There needs to be a breakthrough for the good guys on some level soon.

"whispering sweet fairytales of vengeance and revenge in her little baby's ear. :)"

Delightful. They should TN's on how screwed up some of these poor babies turn out later in life who deal with either the wack-job parents or the endless rants to the camera.
