Amores Verdaderos #181 Sun 7/28/13 El Gran Final, Part III
* Lo refrito: you bastard, screams Kendra, no one will stop me! You bastard! Kill him, Espanto, kill him!
* Lo Nuevo: Dances with Sunglasses pulls his gun out and aims it at the witch. But Macaria Chávez is a very lucky ho, because Espanto saves her pretty butt by hitting Salsero’s head from behind. However, the gun fires and Kendho gets shot on her upper arm. While Salsa-Dude is lying on the floor unconsciously, the panicking duo is sneaking out of the flat through the service door. Outside they get into Espanto’s van. The Barbie doll can’t stop screaming and crying, she’s in pain. The members of Viewerville try to practice forgiveness and mercy, but they are having a hard time with it. YOU DESERVED IT, B****!
* Upstairs Supermacho Frankie kicks the door (another beanie moment), and the hot bodyguards find Salsero inside. Where did Kendra and Espanto go? We have to find them! The supertrio goes back to the street, and they try to find out what to do. Arriaga says they should ask the janitor about the security cameras… maybe they could find out which cars they used. Frankie decides to protect Mía from Kendho.
* At Meta Imagen Estefano and Victoria are taking turns at adoring Angelito (who’s a cutie! and his agronomist, countryside-loving daddy already bought him a big toy cow). In the meantime they talk about work. Vicky is grateful for Stevie’s help, because without him she would’ve lost a client. She wants to pay him for his work. Oh, no need of that, he helped her as a friend. And she also helped him so many times before… which he’ll never forget.
* Kendho is still wailing, screaming and cursing in the van. “I’ll kill that bastard!” She’s definitely getting on Espanto’s last nerve. She says they can’t go on the highway because police would notice them in a heartbeat. Instead they should use another road.
* At Meta Imagen Vicky, who’s now holding Angelito in her arms, promotes Gilda/Hilda/Whatevs. From now she’ll work with the head of the administration, or something like that. G/H/W is very grateful for her trust and for the opportunity. Victoria says Betty will be her (I mean, Vicky’s) right hand. *Viewerville: yeah!* And of course the salaries of Gilda and Betty will be raised.
* At a park Vicente whispers sweet things into Adriana’s ears. Suddenly a trains shows up with clowns, and it turned out Doctor Hottie organized this… I don’t know how to call it… this creepy but nice surprise for Adri & Adri. While the clowns (who are mostly kids) are singing and dancing, Vicente can’t stop cuddling the baby… and kissing Adri.
* Entrada. Geez, this song is so great.
* Salsero’s already found out which van Espanto used, and he called his contacts who can track it down. He calls Guzmi and Arriaga, who are heading to the Balvanera mansion with baby Mía and her babysitter.
* Ana Barbara, Polita and a cameraman have a drink together. Polita at first can’t stop fangirling, then she starts singing to Ana Barbara, who’s amazed at her voice. Do you want to become a singer? Oh yes, I do! You know, this profession requires muchísimo discipline, sacrifices and efforts. Are you still interested? At first Polita hesitates, but then she says yes enthusiastically. Then you can count with all my supports, answers Ana Barbara.
* The Atonement of Salsero, part III. Part I was his confession to Arriaga and Frankie, and part II was his encounter with Kendho. But this is the hardest. He has a coffee with Beatriz, who’s so happy to see him, she missed him so much, she calls him mi amor, she tells him how much she loves him, he caresses his face… Oh no, this is too heartbreaking. He starts to talk about the bad things he’d done in the past. She says again that she didn’t care about it because those things belong to the past. But he can’t be in peace until he tells her all the horrible things he had done. Okay man, says Betty, now you’re scaring me. Please, speak. And he speaks. He tells her about Kendra and the kidnapping attempts against the Ikkis. These things are too much for Betty, who’s now crying. You did cruel, awful things, Santino, and you are a criminal. You’re the worst father figure for my son, and I can’t marry to someone like you. Dances says it’s very painful for him. It’s painful for you? For me it’s like the world crumbling over me! But she has to be courageous and go on, like she did when she left Leonardo. She has a son, she has to be strong for him. I won’t be defeated, do you understand?! Sshe gives Salsero her engagement ring back. Betty is crying, Dances is crying, Viewerville is crying.
* Espanto and the screaming witch arrive at a comfortable little cave. No way, says Kendra, there must be snakes and spiders here! But she has to stay there while Espanto is looking for a doctor. And do you want to know what’s she caring about the most? She doesn’t want a scar on her arm ruining her beauty. *Viewerville: you know nothing, Jon Snow* Espanto is going to the nearest pharmacy. Okay, man, now MOVE, MOVE, MOVE! *insert crazy villana voice here* Damn you Salsero, I curse you! DAMN YOU!
Espanto throws the trash out at a cave in the middle of nowhere.
* Betty, who’s still crying, is at Meta Imagen, and tells
Hilda never to mention Salsero’s name again. It was a huge mistake
falling in love with him.
* At the Balvaneras Arriaga asks Tomasina to take care of Mía.
* The Atonement of Salsero, part IV: at the library Nikki Arriaga and Guzmán try to tell the truth about Salsero and Kendra to the Ikkis as gently as they can. Kendho is a murderer who killed Cristina, Nelson, and she and Dances (who was her lover) organized all the kidnapping attempts.
* In the meantime Kendho is eating painkillers. She’s still swearing she’ll take revenge at Salsero. She’ll hit at where it hurts the most. *insert crazy evil villana laugh here*
* Espanto is a loyal henchman, you have to give him that. He bought some meds at a pharmacy, but when he’s about to leave, the looser meets two policemen. Who notice the gold necklace that fell out of his pocket. Busted man, busted.
* Polita tells about her upcoming singing career to Jean Marie and Tomasina. They’re very happy for her. However, Tomasina tells her that they’ll have much work to do now that Mía is living with them.
* Nikki and Vicky are impactadas at the betrayal of Dances, who’s just entering the room. The Ikkis are firing icy glares at him. He hardly look into the eyes of the women he hurt so much, but he apologizes, and gives them his testimony. He knows a lifetime wouldn’t be enough to pay for his sins. Guilt and regret will haunt him forever. He’s about to leave when Victoria stops him: no, Salsero, you aren’t going anywhere! You committed many crimes against our family, but thanks to you Kendra will pay for her sins. Without you we wouldn’t know about what happened to Nellie *RIP, my furry troll, I liked you*, Lili and Cristina. Nikki says she can’t even look at Dances, but at least he didn’t kill anyone. Vicky’s sure that all his help will be considered extenuating circumstance at court. Dances says he already told everything to Betty, and it seems he’s about to cry when his cell phone starts ringing. It’s Commander Robles, who informs him that Espanto has been arrested! The supersupertrio leaves.
* Beatriz and Adriana discuss the crimes of Salsero and Kendra. Betty sadly says that Salsero and Santino Roca are two very different people… and God, what is she going to tell Guillo? He adores Santino! She starts crying. Suddenly Guillo runs out of his room: he’s also crying desperately and he begs his mom to tell him that letter from Santino isn’t real! It turns out Dances sent a letter to the boy and he told him that he was grateful Guillo for making him realize that in order to become a good, honorable man we have to face our mistakes. It was hard to renounce his love, and he’ll miss him and Beatriz much. Betty hugs the little boy and tells him it’s true. But he’ll always have her.
* At the cave Kendho is getting in worse shape every minute. It’s getting darker and darker and there’s no signal. Babe, you’re in trouble. She keeps repeating that she’ll get out of there… because Kendra Ferreti won’t be defeated!
* Ventiscas, Hidalgo. At the local prison Espanto refuses to say anything to the cops. Because he’s a tough guy, you know. However, he tells Salsero about Kendho’s whereabouts and asks him to go and find her. It’s better to live in jail than to die like a dog. Whoa, our Espantito has turned into a philosopher.
* Aaaand it’s late night in the Cave of Horrors. Kendho, who lost too much blood, is already out of her mind with fear and pain, wakes to wolves howling. She whispers a hopeful “Espanto”, and she turns her cell phone on to make some light. And suddenly she sees three beautiful but hungry wolves approaching. She starts screaming: nooooooooooooooo! The members of Viewerville-Patio express a collective ewwwwwww. Good bye, Kendho. Have a good time in Hell.
A Game of Thrones reference – sorry, I just couldn’t resist.
* Salsero tells Arriaga and Guzmán the good news: Espanto talked, so now they can go and find Kendra. In the meantime the Ikkis inform Liliana and Adriana about Kendra’s crimes.
* The supersuper bodyguards are already at the entrance of the cave. Arriaga mentions that Commander Robles found it very suspicious Espanto asked for Salsero, and he asked many questions about him. But Dances couldn’t be calmer: he says as soon as they get Macaria Chávez arrested, he’ll turn himself in. They have enough proof against him and Kendra. Then he thinks out loud that prison isn’t the biggest punishment for his crimes… losing Betty’s love is worse.
* In the meantime Betty is silently crying, and she’s caressing Guillo’s face who is sleeping next to her in the bed. We are alone, my treasure. At the Balvaneras Liliana and Nikki are also sleeping on the lap of their mothers, who are waiting for a message from the bodyguards.
* The guys enter the cave, and Viewerville has another ewwwww moment when they find the horribly mutilated body of our villana. The gore-o-meter is high! The make-up team did a fantastic work with this scene (you can see her teeth, her ribs and her bowels), but I can’t show you the screencaps (photobucket – where I store my photos - would probably ban me forever if I did), so if you’re interested in the details, just google “muerte de Kendra Ferreti”. Our tough guys look like they’re about to throw up... especially Salsero, who used to care about this woman.
* Next day at the Balvaneras the servants talk about the anvil that dropped on Kendho’s head. *I swear I saw the words “Horrible and Gruesome Telenovela Villana Death TM” carved into it. But everything is relative: the ghost of the blind chick from Pasión suddenly shows up at the Patio, and says that Kendra actually had a very easy death. Patio People freak out.”
* A few days later Francisco takes Nikki to a surprise trip, which includes a fantastic helicopter flight over the countryside and a fabulous picnic with flowers, champagne… and a trumpeter. What the heck happened to our AV men, first clowns, and then a private concert? Our cute youngsters tell each other how much they love one another… and then suddenly Harry Potter’s owl shows up. Nikki looks like she’s about to run for her life (after all there’s at least one person who remembers what happened to Kendho when she encountered the local wildlife), and her surprise couldn’t be bigger when it turns out the owl brought a gift for her. A ring. A shiny, pretty, big ring. Did Frankie rob a bank while we weren’t paying attention, or what? Chiquita, says Frankie, will you accept me as your husband? Nikki starts crying with joy: mi Guzmáncito, yes, I will! They kiss. Cuteness is overloaded, and we haven’t even reached the end yet!
Nikki is like "what the actual f*** are you doing?" But we have to admit, it was a lovely proposal. And I love Neta's nails.
* At the Balvaneras Vicky and Angel, aka the two kids are totally enthusiastic about their future home. Which will be constructed by Arriaga, the supersuper-agronomist-bodyguard-latin-lover-and-suddenly-also-an-architect. They get all flirty and giggly when they talk about their future bedroom, and of course Ms. Vikki will have a workshop there where she could create her newest assassinations of art. *Okay, I admit, I liked some of her paintings.* Nikki runs into the room and tells them that she’s super-neta-happy because Frankie gave her an engagement ring. Vicky: squeeeeeee! Nikki says they’ll get married in two months. What a coincidence, Angel and Vicky also wanted to get married in two months! Neta says they could have a double wedding. Squeee! Squeee!
* And two months later we get a simple, beautiful, elegant double wedding on the countryside. The Arriagas, Balvaneras and Guzmáns have all their friends there (except Salsero, who’s rotting in jail right now), celebrating the happiness of our protagonists.
* And guess who are singing to the guests? Ana Barbara and Polita, yeah! Everyone’s dancing and having fun, especially the Big Angel. Roy and Lili decide to seize the opportunity, so they take a deep breath and approach Arriaga, who’s dancing with Victoria. Ummm, senor Arriaga… José Ángel rolls his eyes and ignores the boy. Se… Senor Arriaga! Not now, kids! But Lili and Roy just don’t leave him in peace: senor Arriaga, I’d like to ask for Liliana’s hand, stutters the Boytoy. Arriaga knows he’s about to be defeated (especially because Victoria’s supporting the kids), so he runs to Lili’s bio parents. Roy repeats the proposal: Adriana is laughing with joy, Vicente is okay with the situation, and the Angel, our grumpy overprotective daddy finally gives in. All right, all right, you two can get married! Vicky, Adri, Vicente, Roy, Lili: squeeeeeee! Little Orchid and Roy jump into Arriaga’s arms.
The Supersuper Gardeners use their superhero power called “hyper cuteness” on Arriaga. It works.
* A few days later the Boytoy and Lili are sitting in a restaurant, and while the singers are singing “When a man loves a woman”, they gaze adoringly at each other. Roy isn’t hardcore enough to use owls, he’s more into the classic way with candles and fireworks. Lili, will you marry me? Little Disney Orchid pulls a gorgeous 1000-watt smile and says si, I’ll marry you!
* The camera switches to the newlyweds, and the production team provide us dozens of gorgeous shots of Quintana Roo (Vicky and Angel) and North Mexico (Nikki and Guzmi). *Who wants to travel to Mexico right now? I do.* While the Guzmáns are having a fun, active honeymoon with extreme sports, travelling and sightseeing, the Arriagas are relaxing at the beach, swim and they occasionally visit nearby towns and pueblos. There’s at least one thing common in those honeymoons: both couples are having fun and they are extremely happy.
* Six years later the police managed to track Aníbal down… who’s still alive. Which is a miracle. Commander Robles says the Interpol found him in Alaska. Adriana, Vicente and Candelaria are waiting for him at the airport, they are so grim that they look like three Erynies (goddesses of vengeance) from a Greek tragedy. Those years in hiding didn’t change Aníbal, he’s still annoyingly sure of himself. He tells Adriana that when one of her children will make a wrong decision, she’ll understand him. Never, answers Adri. You’re a wretched mand with a rotten soul. Suddenly the wind blows Tatito’s hat away… and God, the word “puerco” pig was carved into his forehead! *This is ridiculous.* Commander Robles mentions this is what the Russian mob does to traitors. *Hmmm, I thought they maimed and killed the traitors, but nevermind.* Adriana states that the tattoo suits him well, and Aníbal repeats that he did everything for his family. Whatever. Candelaria prays that God will forgive him. A voiceover informs Viewerville that Gramps’s going to spend 82 years and 6 months in jail.

* Speaking of jail: Salsero served his time, and finally he’s free! He looks healthy and peaceful. Outside Frankie greets him. Dances calls him amigo, and they hug each other. Then a handsome teenage boy calls him from the behind: “Papa!” Salsero turns around: Guillo?! He never thought he would see him again! He hugs the boy, who says his uncle Francisco always told him that we all have the right to commit mistakes, but the important thing is to straighten up. Oh dear, Salsa-Dude is about to cry.
* Let’s get back to Santa Rita! The Arriagas-Balvaneras organized a HUGE birthday party for Angelito. Geez, there are so many children! Let’s see: the three oldest are Mía, Adrián and Angelito. Nikki and Guzmán are holding a boy and a girl, who are probably twins. Lili and Roy (who hasn’t changed his hairstyle) have a little girl, and Little Orchid has a pretty pregnant belly. (By the way, Robroy and Lili still look like they were 16 years old. And they are totally in love.) Everyone looks happy, everyone’s having fun. When Salsero and Godmother Imperia show up at the front entrance, José Ángel (who’s wearing glasses) and Vicky (who turned into the Real Housewife of Walker, the Texas Ranger) greet them with glee. Dances with Sunglasses (who after approximately 130 episodes FINALLY has a good hairstyle again!) still looks a little bit uncomfortable as he’s looking for Beatriz. Guillo calls his mom: “look who’s here!” Betty slowly walks to Salsero, who says he hopes she isn’t bothered by his presence. No, answers Bea, on the contrary! She’s so happy to see him again! She missed him much. Really, Betty? Really. Will you give me another chance? Yes, cries Beatriz, we deserve a second chance! Betty, Guillo and Salsero hug each other. YES! *and the members of Viewerville are crying*

* Aníbal is also having a great time in prison, where he’s in a very bad position in the local food chain, and he’s bullied by the other boys (like Espanto) on a daily basis. Today they push him on the floor and they are laughing at him. But they can’t break the Pig’s will, who call the mediocre failures. Tatito’s still sitting on the floor when he gets a visit from an old friend of his: Odiodette Vengeance-longoria! Uhh-ohh. She enjoys the sight of his misery and his tattoo, and he reminds him of the times when she was paralyzed, he taunted her and gave her a wheelchair. She came to return his generosity… and she throws a box of cigars on the floor. Gramps looks grumpy and miserable.
* Now we’re back at the countryside where Nikki and Francisco are walking and laughing on the field. Frankie tells his chiquita that she’s the most wonderful gift life has given him, and he’ll love her forever. Yes, Frankie, answers our beloved Neta-Equis-Okay-Nikki. Our love is so great that we can overcome all obstacles. Kiss.
* Arriaga and Victoria are riding a carriage, and they have a similar conversation. Victoria says they built a nice family, their daughters are so beautiful, and they are married to great men! And our grandchildren are so strong and healthy, says the Angel. He’ll teach them his aikido tricks. And their little daughter (aka Mía) is so pretty as well, and Angelito… Yes, mi amor, they are blessings from God. Angel says in their story true loves triumphed. Kiss.

Best Gran Fin, ever, of any telenovela I have watched. And the wedding wasn't even the final scene. How novel, and it was perfect! Well done, Televisa.

Nikki's mullet dress for her wedding was nice. I especially liked the bodice design.
A very nice travelogue PSA for Mexico during the 'ikkis' honeymoons. That was a enjoyable interlude.

Yay! More screen shots. Doesn't look like Adri and Vicente have any more kids. Just Adrian. Guzman and Nikki's daughter is really eying that cake. I guess she shares her mama's weakness for cakes... :)

If the actress playing Polita is as much of a fan of Banda music as her character she must have been over the moon getting to sing with Ana Bárbara.

O La La you got so much of the Gran Finale in these screen caps.
I really wanted Kendho to get her just desserts, but had to look away every time they showed her torn up by the wolves. But then again, you act like a wolf, you live like a wolf, you die well, by wolves. Apologies in advance to Cheryl ; )
I am sooo glad Salsa Dude survived, did his prison time and got back with Betty. I was like Doris, I was using my box of tissues. That reconciliation was wonderful. Best eva! I too liked Guillo v 2.0. He was awesome.
I was glad that Mia ended up with the Angel and Ms Vikki. They will raise her right and she'll probably be a Mini Lilly at the end. The Angel probably taught both children his Akido skills ; )
Also liked Anyballs and his comeuppance! Scarred for life and Espanto making fun of him in the prison, and the best part Odette coming for a visit in prison to rub it in. Now that was priceless.
Loved the Honeymoon scenes for both couples.

I am sooo glad Salsa Dude survived, did his prison time and got back with Betty. I was like Doris, I was using my box of tissues. That reconciliation was wonderful. Best eva! I too liked Guillo v 2.0. He was awesome.
I was glad that Mia ended up with the Angel and Ms Vikki. They will raise her right and she'll probably be a Mini Lilly at the end. The Angel probably taught both children his Akido skills ; )
Also liked Anyballs and his comeuppance! Scarred for life and Espanto making fun of him in the prison, and the best part Odette coming for a visit in prison to rub it in. Now that was priceless.

Oh, was anything said about whether much of the Balvenera fortune will be forfeited as the profits from the smuggling enterprise?

Squee, it was a good ending. Loved the beautiful scenery at the end, and mini travelogue.
I was sort of hoping that Thomasina would end up with Felipe, but he seemed to be sitting near Gilda/Hilda in the end. Well in a way that makes sense, because Gilda/Hilda was so close to Paula.

It looks like Nikki and Francisco went to Chihuahua, Coahuila and Sonora while Vikki and JA went to Quintana Roo. With the weddings and Francisco's proposal in Puebla they covered North, South and Center lol.

My big thank you all to all the wonderful recappers of this beautiful telenovela. I was very satisfied with the gran final and Hopefully we get another telenovela like this one, not heavy in lagrimas but still not so over the top with its humor. Love the romance and the tint of intrigies which made the lives of the characters colorful and interesting.
I love the "trash throwing" Espanto did and though it was truly a horrible way to die, I did not feel sorry for the Ho.

I also hope that the Diamond smuggling just happened lately and did not have to affect Meta Imagen. I hope that Vikie owned this company independent of the Annibal ill gotten wealth. My only complaint about the ending was the lack of elaboration of any wealth expansion of the male characters to remove themselves from relying on the Balvanera wealth. Also about the useless Polita bomb. I would have been happier if she was shown in love with another boy to waste that time.

Madelaine, NovelaMaven, Aribeth, Marta, Elvira and Cynderella—Thank you for all your wonderful recaps. You ladies are the reason why I stuck with this tn. When this tn was in the doldrums and the plot kept going around in circles and only included: lame villainous plans; crazy Adri; crazy Cris; vomiting Nikki; bitchy Nikki; and JA and Vicky paralyzed by their love that dared not speak its name, your enthusiasm, snark, and sense of humor kept me coming back each day.
Eventually, these writers pulled it together. The plans of the villains remained lame till the end, and the storyline was always a bit of a circus, but the plot finally got some movement in the romance and the action department. Throughout, with very few exceptions, the cast was stellar and always looked like they were having fun—especially EY and EB (and Polita and Jean Marie). The hair, makeup, and costuming departments also get huge credit for making this tn a visual feast, and causing clothes envy among women everywhere.
Eventually, these writers pulled it together. The plans of the villains remained lame till the end, and the storyline was always a bit of a circus, but the plot finally got some movement in the romance and the action department. Katy and I got together (with her brother) last night and watched the finale on her huge screen tv. Big tv, great company, and a romance filled finale, where the villains also met their ends. Just prefect, and lots of fun!
Mads- As Jarocha pointed out, the area where Nikki and Guzman went on honeymoon IS the area Refugio was filmed in. Same train line too. Both the honeymoon spots were so gorgeous. Made me want to make my next trip to Mexico.
If JA built that whole new house for Vicky in the area near her family’s country mansion, who’s using that mansion these days? Don’t think Adri would want to spend much time in the place where she was imprisoned while she was pregnant. Perhaps Nikki and Guzman and Lili and Roy stay there when they go to visit JA and Vicky?
I too wondered just how well this bodyguard business is doing when Guzman can afford a lavish proposal and honeymoon; and JA can afford that honeymoon, to build a GIANT house in the country, and to become a country gentleman (I know agronomy doesn’t pay THAT well). Maybe JA and Guzman took over Anibal’s diamond fencing business? ;-)
Speaking of that…ChrisInFL—Don’t think too hard about the diamond smuggling storyline. It came out of left field and doesn’t really make any sense. It served the purpose of forcing Anibal to live like a rat in the shadows on the run, causing him pain and humiliation at the hands of the Russian mafia (who write in Spanish), and getting him a longer jail sentence.
Jarocha- Glad you could join us. I was scratching my head during that bizarre clown scene. I figured it must be tied to some Mexican children’s show. But if you don’t even know what it was about, then I figure it was late, and the writers were smoking something when they wrote that. Guess they used up all their inspiration planning out Guzman’s and Roy’s proposals.
As for Uni deciding it’s perfectly fine to show its audience the mangled remains of a character attacked by wolves (loved your GoT reference, Aribeth), but it’s NOT ok for us to see a newborn’s penis or consenting adults making love, well…that’s the United States for you. *shrug*
I enjoyed Polita’s performance with Ana Barbara. She definitely held her own. I wonder if the actress is pursuing a real music career. She should. If both Eiza and Sherlyn, who don’t have half her voice, can have music careers in addition to their acting, than she definitely should.
Fun fact: In Una Famila con Suerte, Ana Barbara played Sherlyn’s mother, from whom she inherited her musical talent.

Vivi: The song was the intro song to "¡Vivan los Niños!", the last version of Carrusel, produced by Nicandro Díaz. The novela was very successful and allowed Nicandro to leave children's novelas and start producing adult ones. I guess this was his bizarre way to paying it a tribute or something.

Ok, I have a friend who owns a construction company. One of her employees commutes from Mexico everyday. When ever they do a remodeling job, he takes the scraps back to Mexico and sells them in his yard. People who have visited his home say that he lives on a huge ranch, with srevants in a mansion. His kids attend private school. He is just a lowly construction worker here, in Mexico he is like the second hand Home Depot. So, I have no problem thinking Arriaga and Guzman are rich.
P.S. An owl? A bird of prey does not say "romance" to me. I live in a neighborhood where I see owls and hawks going after small animals. I freak out when I see them dive becaue its time for lunch.

He sells the Home Depot stuff in Mexico. Secondly, she doesn't pay a lot. lastly, they would have contacts based on their associations. Guzman is a celebrity bodyguard. Arriaga has all of the upper class women trying to get in his pants. Based on that, I believe that business could boom.

I didn't understand Odette's gift of cigars, either. Did we ever see Anibal smoking one? I thought there would be 24k gold--plated handcuffs or ankle chains in the box. More in line with reciprocating his gift (to her) of the TOL wheelchair.

NM, when you were doing the song titles a few days ago, when Lilli was so confused, all I could think of was a very old song called, "I'm My Own Grandpa." I just found it on youtube; it's hilarious.
Another name for this novela could have been simply, "All in the Family."
My favorite characters were Beatrice and Santino and so glad there was a happy ending for them although I could not understand what B said to Santino after she said, "Te amo." Can anyone help me with this? I was disappointed throughout that we were not treated to more dance scenes. Those were magical. My favorite part of El Final was when Guillo called Santino, "Papa."
I also loved the role of the evil Anibal Balvanera and Enrique Rocha. He played his role to perfection right down to the end.
All the acting was excellent.
I thought Espanto got off easy; he was having a great time in prison,
altho he didn't seem to have much of a life on the outside except wait around for K's next order. But I guess he enjoyed his disguises.
Other than for the money, I couldn't figure out why he was so loyal to Kendra, and I wondered why he didn't just take his share and leave her in the apt. altho the ending would not have been as dramatic. I like how the writers disposed of K quickly.
I forget how much the ransom money was that Adriana paid. At first I thought it was 5 million and plenty enough to leave town, but maybe it was $5000. The whole inheritance thing doesn't seem as if K. would have gotten that much, and that part of the plot was pretty lame.
Also, she had to do too much work to get what she wanted. I guess that was her only option.
Poor Mia, I hope she can handle the true story about her mother when the time comes to reveal how and why she died so young. Her parents will have to tell her eventually before someone in the neighborhood does. (Yes, I know, only a TN, so no worries.)

YIKES...I did not see KendrHo's karma coming and neither did she. !!!!! If you look at the sidebar of Caraycaray, you will see a quote from another novela. "I want him to be eaten by coyotes." Gah. As soon as Espanto and the ho showed up in that deserted location, I knew that the coyotes/wolves/wild dogs were waiting in the wings. I expected her to be set upon by bats, too. (We have bats at the farm, and we cannot get rid of them because they are endangered and protected. Go figure.). Anyhoo, it was gruesome , and I had too put my hand over my eyes. Pretty no longer. We all suspected that karma would involve her looks, but that was a terrible, violent end, I would have preferred to have hervsentenced to life in prison with no makeup or curling iron. Now, that would have made her suffer for years and years and years as her beauty slowly but surely faded...the way of all flesh.
I loved the double wedding, but I wanted to see three more weddings..Vicente and Adri, Lily and the new improved righteous Roy , and Bea and Saksero. They deserved their moments in the spotlight and I wanted to be a witness to their happiness. I knew that Bea would take Dances back. he paid for his sins and did the right thing in the end.
Loved the honeymoons, but I choose the beach option. (headed down the Jersey shore tomorrow..the ocean will not be that shade of turquoise, I can assure you.)
I prefer Roy's proposal to the Guz's. Having a bird of prey deliver my ring in the middle of a field while serenaded by a lady with a sax just does not do it for me. lLike Cynderella, I watch the hawks circling above all the time searching for Peter Rabbit or one of his relatives..not romantic. I got a kick out of Percy Sledge's " When a Man Loves a Woman" done with a Spanish accent.

I loved the double wedding, but I wanted to see three more weddings..Vicente and Adri, Lily and the new improved righteous Roy , and Bea and Saksero. They deserved their moments in the spotlight and I wanted to be a witness to their happiness. I knew that Bea would take Dances back. he paid for his sins and did the right thing in the end.
Loved the honeymoons, but I choose the beach option. (headed down the Jersey shore tomorrow..the ocean will not be that shade of turquoise, I can assure you.)
I prefer Roy's proposal to the Guz's. Having a bird of prey deliver my ring in the middle of a field while serenaded by a lady with a sax just does not do it for me. lLike Cynderella, I watch the hawks circling above all the time searching for Peter Rabbit or one of his relatives..not romantic. I got a kick out of Percy Sledge's " When a Man Loves a Woman" done with a Spanish accent.

CherylNewMex, I saw the finale last night and watching Kendra getting what she deserved was SWEET and karma for sure: you live like a wolf, you die like one.
Did Guzman and Nikki have 2 kids ? I know JA and Vicki took in Mia. Salsa Man and Betty finally got back together and it was a nice reunion for them.

I'm such a sap....I cried when Salsero was released from prison and Guillo (who we called demon spawn in the beginning of this TN!!!) referred to him as "papa". Too too sweet!
Other than that, I found the happily ever after scenes tedious and silly. I love Vicente, but surprising Adriana with that Pippy Longstocking clown was just creepy. It reminded me of one of those crazy Japanese commercials. Then again, Guzman's transsexual Kenny G wasn't the most romantic thing either.
I really was hoping we'd see Felipe and Tomasina sitting together at the wedding. Oh well. The wedding was pretty, although nothing can beat Nikki's first wedding dress. @Floridia, I kept thinking that Espanto would wind up being Kendra's father. Did Salsero ever explain Macaria Chavez' past other than that it was "más negra que la noche" ? Otherwise, Espanto's care for Kendrat is indeed confusing.

The proposals were weird...really, Doc Hawt, a kiddie clown flash mob was your best idea?...and I would think having a saxophonist hover over me would be uncomfortable, not romantic...not to mention that birds freak me out...but all's well that ends well. Guzmi and Nikki have apparently acquired a great love for the outdoors...from their proposal to the wedding to the honeymoon to their last scene under the cool tree, they spent a lot of time in wide-open spaces.
Kendho's end was certainly graphic. I was surprised that Espanto actually went to the pharmacy and was heading back to her. I thought he would just ditch her. I hope those wolfies didn't suffer food poisoning after the few nibbles they tried of her nasty self.

My favorite part was when Roy told JA he and Lililu wanted to get married. Both of them were so funny.
A word about wolves. A former neighbor of mine had one for a pet. He got him very young and he behaved exactly like a dog... except he bayed at the moon and you couldn't watch werewolf movies in front of him. He never bared his fangs at anyone.

Did anyone watch Sal y Pimiento after the finale ? There were three women and one guy, and they chattered so fast that I had no idea what they were saying. They interviewed Erika and Marjorie. .At one point, I got the impression that they were talking about a real love triangle between Big Ed, Majorie, and Erika.

I'm grateful for being this team of recappers and commenters. AV started last September (03/09) in Mexico and in November in the US. I spent almost a year with following this show. In the beginning I was sceptical about it because I'm not enthusiastic about Nicandro Díaz's shows (which are always very beautiful with great scenery, fantastic wardrobes, and he hires good actors, but they are boooooring). But this one turned into something special. Kudos to the original and the Mexican writers, the actors, Díaz and every single member of the cast. Heck, even the director, Garcini toned down a bit.
As a loyal Lalo fangirl I'm happy he had a successful show again... and he played an AGE-APPROPRIATE role, qué milagro! I grew fond of the other actors, too. Especially Erika. She's a sweetheart, and she turned out to be a good actress. I hope next year she'll won an award for AV.
I think EY, EB, Mónica Sánchez, Susana González and Francisco Gattorno had the best materials to work with, but the others were good, too. Marjorie played Kendho perfectly. I hope she'll get the opportunity to play other kind of characters, too.

There were rumors about Marjorie and Eduardo AND Erika and Eduardo. We don't know what happened between them because all of them guard their privacy firmly. After the finale Erika admitted she'd developed a crush on Lalo last year, but they aren't dating. However, she says they maintained a friendship - actually, some members of the cast (Erika, Sherlyn, Natalia, Eduardo, Eiza, Raquel, Michelle and Sebastián) seemed to become very close to each other, and some of them still hung out together. And most of them use twitter on a daily basis, so it isn't hard to follow who likes whom. :)

Aribeth: Pictures are worth a thousand words and yours are priceless.
I am feeling happiness (at the wonderful finale) but great sadness as this journey is over. I remember feeling the same way when CS ended. It was only through the efforts of the extraordinary recappers (including Jeri who sadly wasn't with us this time), that CS was kept going after being banished to the midnight slot. You, Jeri and Vivi kept hope and happiness alive by recpaping the even better LaVerdad Occulta. You are so integral to the success of this blog Aribeth - you are amazing.
Thanks to you, Madelaine, Elvira, Marta, NovelaMaven and Cynderella for your countless hours of crafting all of the riveting, wise and humorous recaps. You added so much and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. The commenters here are witty and wonderful. How proud I am to be a member of such an amazing group of people.
So many excellent comments have already been written, I will simply say I loved the finale and while I am not a fan of shared weddings, this was an exception. Vicky looked absolutely beautiful. All the children are well and happy, and loved. I am glad it was JA and Vicky that welcomed Mia into their lives. I know they will cherish her.
Santino lives another day to renew his life and live again. Happy for he and Bea.
One thing has been bothering me. Kendra ordered executions, Espanto carried them out. Is he any less culpable than she? Did he deserve mercy (which I feel life imprisonment was), while she was devoured by wild beasts?? This begs the question do female villains get worse punishments than their male counterparts? I guess that is an ongoing discussion (we have discussed this other times). Well, at least Espanto has Anibal to kick around ;).

I didn't watch this show (just read recaps) but I tuned into the finale:
I liked that the show didn't end with the wedding, they showed us what happened AFTER the wedding.
Kendra was ridiculous for wrapping toilet paper around her arm. She really had no way out. If she ran the wolves would've attacked her. STanding still dripping blood the wolves attacked her.
I was expecting somebody to shank Anibal in prison like Ruben from Teresa got shanked.
I like the Salsero actor. He's easy on the eyes so I'm glad his character got a happy ending. It's also good the characters he did wrong forgave him and welcomed him back into society.
I liked Guzman/Nikki proposal better than the Liliana proposal (although her dress was cute, cute, cute!) I thought the owl & Kenni G. was cute.

I am also not a fan of shared weddings, but since this was a second marriage for ALL involved (Vikki, Arriaga, Nikki and Guzman) it was very appropriate and beautiful. I hope Lili and Adri don't opt for a double, though. They each deserve their own (even if Roy and Vicente have both been married before).

I'm one of the few people who isn't crazy about how Adriana-Vicente relationship was written. Sure, the actors are adorable, and they have a nice chemistry. Their first meet after 19 years was very moving. I just found their relationship rushed. Almost 20 years passed by, but magically they hadn't changed a bit and they were both free and willing to start a new life together.
I secretly hoped Carlos would man up and become a good daddy and husband (like Salsero and Roy). By the way, Jhoaaaaannnn is the biggest loser of the show. Did he even visit his son? If he did, it would've been nice if Adriana/someone else mentioned it.
Anyway, naturally I'm glad that Adriana and Vicente are happy together. But they had a very "telenovelish" fairytale storyline.
Who knew that Salsero and Roy would turn into fan favourite characters? :) Especially Salsero. In my opinion he was the protagonist of the first 65% of the finale. And those scenes with Frankie, Guillo (who became kind, wise and handsome) and Bea were so beautiful. I'm happy that he served his time in prison. Otherwise he would've gotten away with his crimes too easily. I hope Guzmán and Arriaga visited/called him regularly.

Punishments of villians of the novelas I've seen:
FELS: Gabriela dies in the coffin; Fernando blows his head off.
MEPS: Artemio Bravo gets shot in the head; Barbara Greco gets sentenced to 200+ years in jail, then burns herself up & spends the rest of her days a charred up shell holding a picture of the grandson she'll never get to hold.
CS '09: Renato dies trying to save Regina; Leonarda is locked up in the cell eaten up by rats; Regina's dad has a heart attack in jail & dies.
LVO: The bad guy (who's name started with an A)...I think he got shot to death or blown up?
Sortilegio: Maura ended up in jail; Bruno got shot by his little henchman. Maria Jose's mom ended up in jail, too.
Teresa: Teresa gave all her money away & lost all her friends/family but still ended up with Arturo.
LFDD: Merry Piece died in surgery to give her mom a kidney. JJ ended up shunned by his family. Saul got shot in the ass & knee caps, hauled off to jail and killed himself
STuD: Ivana hung herself. Rosendo got blown up, then charged into Val & JM's wedding trying to wreck shop. I think Al saved the day & Rosendo ended up in jail carving Val out of his peg leg.
AdP: Gabino got caught by the police. Carmina's legs got cut off b/c of the accident & then she killed herself.
From the shows I've seen, it's about equal. Most of these people either end up in jail, die for their crimes or kill themselves so they won't have to face punishment in jail. From this list, Teresa & Juan Jose Mondragon got off easy. Neither one of them went to jail or had to die. Both of them ended up losing their family and friends but that wasn't really a punishment because you always got the sense that both of these characters would just dust themselves off and remake themselves.
Barbara Greco & Rosendo from STuD got the worst of it, IMO because they both had to be locked away from their loved ones for the rest of their lives and both of them were severely, severely disfigured.
I don't know, it seems about even to me, from the shows I"ve seen.

Great part one. The first part really was all about Salsero. As we knew all along, the Ikkis were very forgiving. It took Bea a little longer (six years!), but she got there eventually. Wouldn't it have been a twist though if Bea was accompanied by her new husband at the birthday party? What if her new husband was Carlos? LOL! So many possibilities. In any case, Salsero was lucky that a gorgeous, accomplished woman like Bea was still available.
Do you think they throw lavish parties like that for ALL the kids’ birthdays? That means they are getting together every few months/weeks to throw these parties. Good thing all the baby daddies are making good money as surgeons/bodyguards/gardeners/agronomist/diamond smugglers(?!).

Susalynn - on Sal y Pimenta they also seemed to be talking about how the other girls were mean to Marjorie on the set 'cause she is so pretty or something and stole the show with her looks and talent. I heard the words "high school" so it sounded like they thought the other actresses should have been more mature or something.
I too was hoping Carlos/Yoan would man up and be there for his kid, I thought the box of shame (which I loved by the way) would get him to realize what he was missing out on, but I guess not.

I loved this finale as it had tied up everything with a lovely bow. JA,FG, Nikki and Vikki each ended up felices por siempre, Ken-Mac was dog food, Anyballs was prison bait and LiLu got with Roy. I liked Salsero's redemption and am gald he didn't die. Betty such a valiant figure as Domencia, Cynthia, Alejandra, Camila and my favorite-Andrea Paz. I love Odio-err-Odette's redemption as well.
Speaking of Andrea Paz, someone mentioned femme fatales getting worse fates than the sleazeballs- Velo de Novia is a perfect example. Raquela was horribly disfigured, bitten by rats and had her legs broken but by her sadistic uncle who deserved exactly what she received. In the end, she had all the trauma of it and prison. Raquela's finale is among the best with Kendra and Isadora from Amor Bravio. And how did her uncle fare? Prison and a choking but that's a slap on the wrist compared to she mentioned before. Oh and for the hell of it, Odette was her auntie who killed Chatita from PEAM and ended up in prison along side her. And with al this greatly bad karma came along personal trauma since March 2013 LOL.
Overall, I'm on the look out for anything by Nicandro. And about Carlos Moreno's new project, I heard Lety Calderon wouldn't be a part of it because Wikipedia listed Blanca Guerra where I would assume her name would be. Maybe she still will be, and while I'm at it, there will be an Eva Luna like novella soon with Susy G. and Guy Ecker. Can't Wait!

Despite wishing that KendraHo had been nibbled to death by gerbils instead of these noble wolves, I think this was one of the best finales I have ever enjoyed. It does remind me of the great outdoor party of Alborada where all the cast were enjoying the splendid site and delicious food. The ending and tidy tying up of loose ends was very satisfying too. We don't always get that in a finale. Well done! And thanks once again for the magnificent writing crew on these recaps. Mil gracias.

Espanto gets to abuse Anibal for years in prison? Doesn't seem like much comeuppance for the henchman who offed Nabila and Christina, and left Lily to bleed out.
A slap on the wrist compared to Gasca's fate in Alborada. There I was troubled that Juana and Diego, those who ordered the crimes, got to slip away peacefully under Modesta's potion, while Gasca, the instrument of their evil, bore the brunt of the suffering, but here I find the henchman's fate unsatisfyingly bland.
While it is nice to know that there is someone on hand to make Anibal's days miserable, there would probably have been plenty of other volunteers for that duty. Surely something more should have been in store for our only surviving, hands on, killer.
While in many theological systems God's grace may be freely given to the most vile upon their contrition or repentence, TN justice has never been that merciful, and we are spared the conflict because the Espantos and Gascas of the TN world never quite seem to manage an "I'm sorry" much less genuine repentence.

Thanks. If her victim forgave her, that's certainly good enough. Must've been focused on a ball game when that scene came along. Not safe to multi-task during the finale like it is along the way during the long months of snail-like exposition.
Hey, did I also miss Opalina? was she in one of the party scenes? Next to a mysterious stranger or holding her own little bit of hope for the future?
In any event, let me get in thanks to each recapper, and the active commenters, who made this show comprehensible to someone who tuned out after the first couple episodes and didn't begin to return until after AB ran its course.
I tried to shuffle my feet every once in a while, but I know I didn't thank everyone enough along the way. I didn't watch AV closely enough to really claim I was working on my Spanish, but when I would puzzle over a passage, your detailed recaps helped.
I'm not sure every moment of every episode was worthy of your efforts, but then, I suspect some of the funniest snark was produced in recapping some of the daffier material. (Adriana's rocks anyone?)
As it was, you helped me keep up with the plot and made connections that I missed even when it got to the point that I had seen the relevant earlier material.

Thanks. If her victim forgave her, that's certainly good enough. Must've been focused on a ball game when that scene came along. Not safe to multi-task during the finale like it is along the way during the long months of snail-like exposition.
Hey, did I also miss Opalina? was she in one of the party scenes? Next to a mysterious stranger or holding her own little bit of hope for the future?
In any event, let me get in thanks to each recapper, and the active commenters, who made this show comprehensible to someone who tuned out after the first couple episodes and didn't begin to return until after AB ran its course.
I tried to shuffle my feet every once in a while, but I know I didn't thank everyone enough along the way. I didn't watch AV closely enough to really claim I was working on my Spanish, but when I would puzzle over a passage, your detailed recaps helped.
I'm not sure every moment of every episode was worthy of your efforts, but then, I suspect some of the funniest snark was produced in recapping some of the daffier material. (Adriana's rocks anyone?)
As it was, you helped me keep up with the plot and made connections that I missed even when it got to the point that I had seen the relevant earlier material.

Part I was excellent Aribeth. "promotes Gilda/Hilda/Whatevs", "The Atonement of Salsero, part III"," and "*RIP, my furry troll, I liked you*" were among my favs.
Very satisfying to see Vicky, Angelito and "agronomist, countryside-loving daddy" together and happy. Eduardo and Erika made this novela for me.
Santino paid for his crimes but it was only due to the generous hearts of his victims that he was forgiven.
Can't wait for Part II.

Chris- Odette never plotted with Salsero or knew about him. She only plotted with Kendra to break up the Brizz marriage, and used her two henchmen to first scuttle a business deal Vicky was trying to make, and then to beat up JA. Neither of those two plans worked, and that marriage would have ended, even without Kendra's help.

I'm so glad I got back before all the chatterers left the Patio. I haven't caught up yet, but I snuck a peak at the Gran Final recaps, so I know what's going to happen. Predictable and yet not. Even though FF made up with Nikki, he's out of the way and won't cause problems by his presence for Vikki or Mia (funeral garb for babies?? I have to see that).

AV was so different from AB, which I thought was superb, but this one drew me in, admittedly after all the early crazy kidnappings were finished. Loved Vikki and JA together. They didn't sizzle on screen, but who can forget their "first time" after all the pent up passion that had been building. They represented a nice version of a mature relationship (except JA had to cry too often for my taste).
A big thank you to the Patio Peeps for widening our horizons with information both personal and cultural (and medical). Don't know if this close-knit community will happen again, but because of its commenters, AV will certainly have a special place in my list of favorite TNs.
I have a quite a few episodes to go through before I can publish the last issue of El Clamor Publico, and even wonder if anyone will still be interested enough to go back in time to read it, but I don't want to leave things unfinished.....

I'm missing this novela. It was so much fun reading your final recap with the fabulous screencaps. What a great way to end what to me is now one of my favorite novelas. Beanie cap needed now and then but overall a great time was had. Anita, eagerly awaiting your latest and final edition.

I'm too late for this. Saw the last week and the final but I still have to catch up with a lot of the episodes. It is the first time I skipped episodes on a series That I followed from start to finish. I did not realize that Anibal was the biggest villain of all in this show. From the beginning up to past 100 episodes, he did not seem like real antagonist. A jerk maybe but not what I expected. A good ending for him since, he had hurt Adriana and the rest of his family a lot. Good work by all. I don't think I will be following anything until the next year. So behind and just so busy. Cheers guys and good luck.

I hope all of you are doing well, enjoying telenovelas and life as usual.
I just wanted to inform you that this weekend was the TVyNovelas Awards. There were two ceremonies: one on Saturday for the "favourites of the public" with the less serious, more fun categories like "best kiss" or "best slap" and "best couple", and another on Sunday for the classic categories (best telenovela, script, actors, and so on).
Amores verdaderos won the best telenovela, Erika, Sherlyn, Susana and Ana Martín also won.
Eiza González, Eduardo Yanez and Fernando Colunga weren't even nominated, rumor says it's because they couldn't attend the ceremony. (Eiza and Lalo are working in the US right now, and Fernando has his play in the theatre). So needless to say, the nominations and the whole ceremony was a joke, but nevertheless, I'm VERY happy for Erika, Susana and AV. Those awards were well deserved.
