Amores Verdaderos #181 Sun 7/28/13 El Gran Final, Part III
* A few days later the Boytoy and Lili are sitting in a restaurant, and while the singers are singing “When a man loves a woman”, they gaze adoringly at each other. Roy isn’t hardcore enough to use owls, he’s more into the classic way with candles and fireworks. Lili, will you marry me? Little Disney Orchid pulls a gorgeous 1000-watt smile and says si, I’ll marry you!
* Six years later the police managed to track Aníbal down… who’s still alive. Which is a miracle. Commander Robles says the Interpol found him in Alaska. Adriana, Vicente and Candelaria are waiting for him at the airport, they are so grim that they look like three Erynies (goddesses of vengeance) from a Greek tragedy. Those years in hiding didn’t change Aníbal, he’s still annoyingly sure of himself. He tells Adriana that when one of her children will make a wrong decision, she’ll understand him. Never, answers Adri. You’re a wretched mand with a rotten soul. Suddenly the wind blows Tatito’s hat away… and God, the word “puerco” pig was carved into his forehead! *This is ridiculous.* Commander Robles mentions this is what the Russian mob does to traitors. *Hmmm, I thought they maimed and killed the traitors, but nevermind.* Adriana states that the tattoo suits him well, and Aníbal repeats that he did everything for his family. Whatever. Candelaria prays that God will forgive him. A voiceover informs Viewerville that Gramps’s going to spend 82 years and 6 months in jail.

Thank you for your months of dedication on this TN. I have enjoyed the recaps and comments.
For those of you continuing on with La Tempestad, I hope y'all have as much fun as was had here.
And my sincere thanks ~again~ to our recappers --- Martita, Elvira, Madelaine, NovelaMaven, Aribeth and Cynderella.
Those wolves weren't all that hungry, or they would have eaten more of Kendra. Maybe they decided skank 'ho doesn't taste all that good. Eeew.
Who would have guessed Kenny G would show up wearing a white mini-dress, serenading Frankie & Nikki in a field somewhere in Mexico? LOL (upon close-up shot it did look more like a woman, but I'm just sayin'...)
Nikki's mullet dress for her wedding was nice. I especially liked the bodice design.
A very nice travelogue PSA for Mexico during the 'ikkis' honeymoons. That was a enjoyable interlude.
Well, I have to admit that I cried when Bea took Salsero back, at the birthday party. Hooorraaaayyyy!!!!!
Oh, and loved the new and improved (and older) Guillo v.2 .
What happened to poor little Mía? Where did she end up?
Was Nikki showing a baby bump in her final scene, wearing that long red dress?
:-)
Doris- Mia ended up with JA and Vicky. She was the little girl on the other side of JA when Angelito was blowing out his cake candles. She is the "nuestra hija" JA mentions during the buggy ride. Six year later and Mia's nanny was still with them, at the party.
Nikki didn't have a baby bump, but she and Guzman had two kids with them at the party. Lili did have a baby bump and she and Roy had one kid in arms already. I can't remember if Adri and Vicente had another kid in arms during the party. Shall we count all the little kids:
JA and Vicky: Mia and Angelito
Vicente and Adri: Adrian and ?
Guzman and Nikki: 2 kids
Roy and Lili: 1 and another on the way
Thanks, Vivi! I had trouble figuring out couples and kids in that scene.
Nikki & Guzmi: Paulita and Francisco
Lili & Roy: Cristina
+ Adriana has a son called Adrián and José Ángel has a son called Angelito. I'm amazed at the creativity of all these characters. *sarcasm*
Mia and Angelito grew up like brother and sister. That was a nice touch.
Doris:
"Those wolves weren't all that hungry, or they would have eaten more of Kendra. Maybe they decided skank 'ho doesn't taste all that good. Eeew."
They showed her body? I thought for sure Univision would censor it. It was a little gruesome by Televisa's standards.
If the actress playing Polita is as much of a fan of Banda music as her character she must have been over the moon getting to sing with Ana Bárbara.
The scene with Vicente arranging the kids dressed up as animals (?) dancing for Adriana and little Adrián was a little bizarre but the finale was pretty good otherwise.
Jarocha
O La La you got so much of the Gran Finale in these screen caps.
I really wanted Kendho to get her just desserts, but had to look away every time they showed her torn up by the wolves. But then again, you act like a wolf, you live like a wolf, you die well, by wolves. Apologies in advance to Cheryl ; )
I am sooo glad Salsa Dude survived, did his prison time and got back with Betty. I was like Doris, I was using my box of tissues. That reconciliation was wonderful. Best eva! I too liked Guillo v 2.0. He was awesome.
I was glad that Mia ended up with the Angel and Ms Vikki. They will raise her right and she'll probably be a Mini Lilly at the end. The Angel probably taught both children his Akido skills ; )
Also liked Anyballs and his comeuppance! Scarred for life and Espanto making fun of him in the prison, and the best part Odette coming for a visit in prison to rub it in. Now that was priceless.
Loved the Honeymoon scenes for both couples.
Vivi:
Didn't Guzmancito's and Nikki's honeymoon are remind you of Refugio? The train and those cliffs reminded me of that area. It was so beautiful.
Loved The Angel and Ms Vikki's honeymoon location too. How wonderful and she finally got over her fear of the water! She actually swam.
Best scene was Ms Vikki and The Angel in that carriage taking a ride and talking about their children and their love, sigh! Wonderful, awesome ending to this TN. I will miss it muchly.
Aribeth:
This was awesome thanks so much!
Also, was anything said or shown to indicate how long he'd been running outright illegal sidelines? Or whether Anibal was just so greedy that he expanded into this line of business just to make "more," or that MetaImagen was not profitable enough to support the Balveneras?
Given the apparent violence of the Mexican underworld, how odd that Anibal had to go to New York to meet with mob enforcers. Then again, I suppose if he'd crossed a Mexican outfit, his corpse would have ended up hanging from some bridge or stuffed into an oil barrel, so if the writers felt he needed to ruminate on his crimes they had to get him out of the country.
CinF
Squee, it was a good ending. Loved the beautiful scenery at the end, and mini travelogue.
I was sort of hoping that Thomasina would end up with Felipe, but he seemed to be sitting near Gilda/Hilda in the end. Well in a way that makes sense, because Gilda/Hilda was so close to Paula.
SOOOOOO glad, SO SO SO SO! glad that Salsa-Dude had a good ending. He did his time in prison, that won't be hanging over his head, and now he can start anew with Beatriz. And loved Guillo v. 2.0. It was all perfect. SO SO SO SO glad!
Can't feel a modicum of pity for the Ho, she deserved to be eaten by wild dogs! LOL!
Don't feel sorry for Gramps. It could have ended so different for him if he hadn't been so arrogant and such a douchebag. He sealed his own fate.
Jarocha
I love the "trash throwing" Espanto did and though it was truly a horrible way to die, I did not feel sorry for the Ho.
Like Doris said; "maybe the skank Ho tasted horrible, EWWWW"
I also hope that the Diamond smuggling just happened lately and did not have to affect Meta Imagen. I hope that Vikie owned this company independent of the Annibal ill gotten wealth. My only complaint about the ending was the lack of elaboration of any wealth expansion of the male characters to remove themselves from relying on the Balvanera wealth. Also about the useless Polita bomb. I would have been happier if she was shown in love with another boy to waste that time.
I was thinking about the cigars that Odette gave Anibal, could it be because he became granddaddy to all the babies that were born?
Thank you to the beautiful tour of Mexico. I too was reminded of the "Refugio" sceneries. makes me want to go to Monterey and Cancun.
Hope to be able to comment on the other telenovelas and see you around guys.
Eventually, these writers pulled it together. The plans of the villains remained lame till the end, and the storyline was always a bit of a circus, but the plot finally got some movement in the romance and the action department. Throughout, with very few exceptions, the cast was stellar and always looked like they were having fun—especially EY and EB (and Polita and Jean Marie). The hair, makeup, and costuming departments also get huge credit for making this tn a visual feast, and causing clothes envy among women everywhere.
Mads- As Jarocha pointed out, the area where Nikki and Guzman went on honeymoon IS the area Refugio was filmed in. Same train line too. Both the honeymoon spots were so gorgeous. Made me want to make my next trip to Mexico.
If JA built that whole new house for Vicky in the area near her family’s country mansion, who’s using that mansion these days? Don’t think Adri would want to spend much time in the place where she was imprisoned while she was pregnant. Perhaps Nikki and Guzman and Lili and Roy stay there when they go to visit JA and Vicky?
I too wondered just how well this bodyguard business is doing when Guzman can afford a lavish proposal and honeymoon; and JA can afford that honeymoon, to build a GIANT house in the country, and to become a country gentleman (I know agronomy doesn’t pay THAT well). Maybe JA and Guzman took over Anibal’s diamond fencing business? ;-)
Speaking of that…ChrisInFL—Don’t think too hard about the diamond smuggling storyline. It came out of left field and doesn’t really make any sense. It served the purpose of forcing Anibal to live like a rat in the shadows on the run, causing him pain and humiliation at the hands of the Russian mafia (who write in Spanish), and getting him a longer jail sentence.
Jarocha- Glad you could join us. I was scratching my head during that bizarre clown scene. I figured it must be tied to some Mexican children’s show. But if you don’t even know what it was about, then I figure it was late, and the writers were smoking something when they wrote that. Guess they used up all their inspiration planning out Guzman’s and Roy’s proposals.
As for Uni deciding it’s perfectly fine to show its audience the mangled remains of a character attacked by wolves (loved your GoT reference, Aribeth), but it’s NOT ok for us to see a newborn’s penis or consenting adults making love, well…that’s the United States for you. *shrug*
I enjoyed Polita’s performance with Ana Barbara. She definitely held her own. I wonder if the actress is pursuing a real music career. She should. If both Eiza and Sherlyn, who don’t have half her voice, can have music careers in addition to their acting, than she definitely should.
Fun fact: In Una Famila con Suerte, Ana Barbara played Sherlyn’s mother, from whom she inherited her musical talent.
Here's the intro if anyone is curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqMyy9AMeMw
Aribeth and the recapping team:
Thank you all for the work you have put on these recaps. They were wonderful always and set the tone for wonderful discussions.
I'm going to travel in a couple of hours and I won't have my computer with me so I probably won't be able to comment further but I'll read the recap in my phone Aribeth, I'm sure it will be great with your characteristical hilarious style. I just wanted to comment in in case I can't later, since the autocorret in my phone makes it horribly difficult for me to write anything in English.
Jarocha
Ok, I have a friend who owns a construction company. One of her employees commutes from Mexico everyday. When ever they do a remodeling job, he takes the scraps back to Mexico and sells them in his yard. People who have visited his home say that he lives on a huge ranch, with srevants in a mansion. His kids attend private school. He is just a lowly construction worker here, in Mexico he is like the second hand Home Depot. So, I have no problem thinking Arriaga and Guzman are rich.
P.S. An owl? A bird of prey does not say "romance" to me. I live in a neighborhood where I see owls and hawks going after small animals. I freak out when I see them dive becaue its time for lunch.
Cynderella
cynderella
LOL moment in the episode was Kendra wrapping her bloody arm with ... toilet paper! She keeps a roll of toilet paper in her purse?!?
I didn't understand Odette's gift of cigars, either. Did we ever see Anibal smoking one? I thought there would be 24k gold--plated handcuffs or ankle chains in the box. More in line with reciprocating his gift (to her) of the TOL wheelchair.
Yes, Anyballs smoked cigars. Havana cigars that is. He kept a box in his office at home. He couldn't get those in the prison, so she brought them along to rub it in his face. I really enjoyed her gesture and rubbing it into his face. Oh, when he had his infarto, the doc told him to give up is Cuban cigar habit ; )
Aribeth, Cynderella, Elvira, Madelaine, Marta & Novela Maven ..
Jumping back in to say Thanks for an OUTSTANDING job done by all, and NM, always loved the Spanish phrases
and translations.
NM, when you were doing the song titles a few days ago, when Lilli was so confused, all I could think of was a very old song called, "I'm My Own Grandpa." I just found it on youtube; it's hilarious.
Another name for this novela could have been simply, "All in the Family."
My favorite characters were Beatrice and Santino and so glad there was a happy ending for them although I could not understand what B said to Santino after she said, "Te amo." Can anyone help me with this? I was disappointed throughout that we were not treated to more dance scenes. Those were magical. My favorite part of El Final was when Guillo called Santino, "Papa."
I also loved the role of the evil Anibal Balvanera and Enrique Rocha. He played his role to perfection right down to the end.
All the acting was excellent.
I thought Espanto got off easy; he was having a great time in prison,
altho he didn't seem to have much of a life on the outside except wait around for K's next order. But I guess he enjoyed his disguises.
Other than for the money, I couldn't figure out why he was so loyal to Kendra, and I wondered why he didn't just take his share and leave her in the apt. altho the ending would not have been as dramatic. I like how the writers disposed of K quickly.
I forget how much the ransom money was that Adriana paid. At first I thought it was 5 million and plenty enough to leave town, but maybe it was $5000. The whole inheritance thing doesn't seem as if K. would have gotten that much, and that part of the plot was pretty lame.
Also, she had to do too much work to get what she wanted. I guess that was her only option.
Poor Mia, I hope she can handle the true story about her mother when the time comes to reveal how and why she died so young. Her parents will have to tell her eventually before someone in the neighborhood does. (Yes, I know, only a TN, so no worries.)
Vivi, Thanks for clarifying
the status of the children. I'm going to watch again and find them all.
Jarocha, I always love to hear your inside information, and if you have time to write again, I'd love to hear more about how Mexican mothers are so close to their children.
I'll keep checking in for a few weeks to see if you have a chance to post after your trip.
Aribeth, looking forward to the final recap; the screen shots are
great.
I agree with all who thought this was one of the best TN finales.
I'll be taking a big TN break now, but I wish you all well...on into your next one. I can see how much fun you have with this ongoing dynamic interaction. It's an awesome group of contributors.
All the Best to All
(and to Gringo who agreed with me
so many times way back when -- but come to think of it, when JA called Vicky the love of his life, I felt as if it nullified his 20 years with Christina --and oh, yes, she was my other favorite actor in this TN - how quickly she is forgotten).
I did feel that Vicky's character
improved with time, not as flaky. I also like the way she took her baby to work).
I loved the double wedding, but I wanted to see three more weddings..Vicente and Adri, Lily and the new improved righteous Roy , and Bea and Saksero. They deserved their moments in the spotlight and I wanted to be a witness to their happiness. I knew that Bea would take Dances back. he paid for his sins and did the right thing in the end.
Loved the honeymoons, but I choose the beach option. (headed down the Jersey shore tomorrow..the ocean will not be that shade of turquoise, I can assure you.)
I prefer Roy's proposal to the Guz's. Having a bird of prey deliver my ring in the middle of a field while serenaded by a lady with a sax just does not do it for me. lLike Cynderella, I watch the hawks circling above all the time searching for Peter Rabbit or one of his relatives..not romantic. I got a kick out of Percy Sledge's " When a Man Loves a Woman" done with a Spanish accent.
Thanking you in advance, Aribeth. Hugs, kisses, and thanks to our wonderful team of recappers who always went above and beyond to provide us with clever, witty, delicious recaps of this fun novella. . THANK YOU ALL.!!!
Did Guzman and Nikki have 2 kids ? I know JA and Vicki took in Mia. Salsa Man and Betty finally got back together and it was a nice reunion for them.
As for Kendra I am reminded of a Biblical passage: 1 Kings 21:23 And of Jezebel also spoke the LORD, saying, the dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
I couldn't have thought of a better fate for her.
The redemption theme played strong with Salsero's storyline. Redemption is a strong theme, some could say the basis, of Christian theology.
I'm with most of you -- this ending rocked! Of course there were silly things -- a clown in the park approaches you and knows your baby's name (creepy and scary), international diamond smugglers let you off alive, great fortunes are made in humble occupations -- just to name a few. But we got our happy ever after for our couples (or at least the ones who lived to tell the tale.)
Thanks to the fabulous community for your smart and funny and wise conversations. A special shout-out to Diana, Goddess of Wisdom and Anita, fearless editor and entrepreneur.
Thanks to every single person who commented here or took a moment to read our recaps. We notice and we are grateful.
¡Hasta pronto!
Your comment so spot on! That so fit the Kendho!
I really loved Roy asking for Lililu's hand in marriage and that big ole hug the Angel gave Roy, also liked the Papi stance with the Angel and Vicente looking at Roy, like should be allow this, lol.
I also liked it when Nikki and Ms Vikki were waiting for Guzmancito and Angel to come back, and the girls Nikki and Lililu, fell asleep on their Mama's laps. So sweet.
I had to laugh when I saw that Milton and Doris (Roy's 'rents) were at the wedding along with Josie and her hubby. I guess the Angel forgave Doris for that rant about Lililu ; ) I am glad they kept Fatima with Mia, cause Fatima was really the only Mama she knew. The Ho never paid Mia the time of day!
Floridia:
So glad to see you back, commenting on this finale. I liked our discussions and hope some day you can come back and discuss again : )
I'm with you... why wolves? Why not ravenous bunny rabbits? Hamsters? This would have been a great job for our Televisa rats. The wolves were typecast.
Carlos
Lol'd at your comment. So you would have rather seen a "Ben" like moment, instead of a "Hungry Like the Wolf" moment? Lol
wolves make sense because she was in a cave. Back to my question. Why an owl? Why off pitch singers....when a man loves a woman? why didnt I recap this episode?
cynderella
Madelaine, NovelaMaven, Aribeth, Marta, Elvira and Cynderella - thank you for recapping this TN. The thing I love about Caray, Caray is our community. Even when TNs aren't the best, the recappers and commenters make it excellent!
Carlos - LOL about the ravenous bunnies! Though I was surprised Televisa's rats didn't make an appearance.
Cynderella - ITA about the owl, not that a falcon/hawk would have been better but all of it was odd.
Jarocha - thanks for the link explaining the odd clown scene.
Other than that, I found the happily ever after scenes tedious and silly. I love Vicente, but surprising Adriana with that Pippy Longstocking clown was just creepy. It reminded me of one of those crazy Japanese commercials. Then again, Guzman's transsexual Kenny G wasn't the most romantic thing either.
I really was hoping we'd see Felipe and Tomasina sitting together at the wedding. Oh well. The wedding was pretty, although nothing can beat Nikki's first wedding dress. "Tú de que vas" is such a pretty song. Roy asking for Lily's hand was adorable. I couldn't get through "when a man loves a woman" because I was laughing too much. Hahaha
Aníbal getting multilated with "puerco" carved on his forehead was a bit extreme, in my opinion. It was entertaining to see Odette visit him in prison, especially after the cruel way he treated her after her stroke.
Hamsters mauling Kendra lol. Now that would have been unbeatable.
i loved the big outdoor celebration with everyone together and all the babies present. It reminded me so much of the finale of Alborada when there was a big outdoor celebration. You could tell that it was actually the farewell party for the cast and crew. I especially loved watching the guys dance. Poor Dances missed that shindig, but at least he made it to Angelito's bday party and was warmly greeted by Guillo 2 and forgiven by Betty. i would have liked to see those two dance together one more time. Susana Gonzales was on Bailando a few years ago and is a verybtalented dancer. Vicente and Big Angel have some smooth moves. You can tell a lot about a guy when he's out on the dance floor...just say in'. The Guz was grooving , too.
Gorgeous out today..sunny and no humidity..cannot go inside.
You guys rock as good as Polita did
last night. Thank you recappers for
a great run. You guys have made this great story even more enjoyable than it already was.
CherylNewMex---A bum rap for the wolves. I laughed my head off on that one. KendHo got her just reward. However, if it had been me,
I would have had at least one close
up of snarling fangs and maybe some
fangs or a snout with blood. Some terrifing screams as the wolves began their dinner would have been
fitting, but nevertheless, they made their point. The Ho never got
to enjoy her money and she is surely suffering more now than she did when the wolves were enjoying their dinner. Kendra, you won't be missed.
Vivi---You did it again. Thank you for a clarification of all the children in the end. I was confused
Jorocha---A special thanks for all
your information about Mexico throughout this novela. I may never
get a chance to visit there but you have made it more vivid to me.
Like everyone, I liked Guillo 2.0
Susanlynn---I was wrong about my last Anibal comment when I stated
my belief that he wouldn't live long. In real life, if you didn't deliver the diamonds, you would be
finished but this is a novela. I guess that the writers wanted him to suffer family humiliation as well as shedding a life of luxury for prison life. His glory days as
head of the Balvanera family are over. He most certainly will die in prison.
Floridia---I was happy to read your comment. I agree with what you said about Cris. It was nice though that Arriga got to go to little Luna's grave towards the end
I am really going to mis week nights with this great novela, I have enjoyed it immensely. I have also enjoyed all of the comments that were posted daily--I read them
all.
Victoria In Texas---If you are still with us---As you know, for a long time, I had been one of Nikki's biggest critics. I had always said that if Nikki changed
then I would change. Well both happened. I wrote a comment for you
on Monday the 22nd. There is also a comment that you might like that I posted on the weekend commentary.
It was from Friday's show El Gran
Final part II July 26th.
the gringo
Cynderella - LOL! Better that than the usual Pablo Montero singing "Ave Maria" off key.
Fun finale. The proposals were weird...really, Doc Hawt, a kiddie clown flash mob was your best idea?...and I would think having a saxophonist hover over me would be uncomfortable, not romantic...not to mention that birds freak me out...but all's well that ends well. Guzmi and Nikki have apparently acquired a great love for the outdoors...from their proposal to the wedding to the honeymoon to their last scene under the cool tree, they spent a lot of time in wide-open spaces.
Kendho's end was certainly graphic. I was surprised that Espanto actually went to the pharmacy and was heading back to her. I thought he would just ditch her. I hope those wolfies didn't suffer food poisoning after the few nibbles they tried of her nasty self.
These wolves need to fight their typecasting.

I'm working on the recap. The first part will be up today, the second part is due tomorrow. Sorry for the slow pace, but I had too may things to do in the past two days.
I'm grateful for being this team of recappers and commenters. AV started last September (03/09) in Mexico and in November in the US. I spent almost a year with following this show. In the beginning I was sceptical about it because I'm not enthusiastic about Nicandro Díaz's shows (which are always very beautiful with great scenery, fantastic wardrobes, and he hires good actors, but they are boooooring). But this one turned into something special. Kudos to the original and the Mexican writers, the actors, Díaz and every single member of the cast. Heck, even the director, Garcini toned down a bit.
As a loyal Lalo fangirl I'm happy he had a successful show again... and he played an AGE-APPROPRIATE role, qué milagro! I grew fond of the other actors, too. Especially Erika. She's a sweetheart, and she turned out to be a good actress. I hope next year she'll won an award for AV.
I think EY, EB, Mónica Sánchez, Susana González and Francisco Gattorno had the best materials to work with, but the others were good, too. Marjorie played Kendho perfectly. I hope she'll get the opportunity to play other kind of characters, too.
The beginning of the recapping wasn't easy, but soon we had 6 recappers in our team. Mads, Elvira, Marta, NovelaMaven and Cynderella: thank you so much. Ladies, you are amazing.
For me it was also a great opportunity to improve my Spanish and English skills. Thanks for the patience and for everything. :)
Vivi: LOL, and let me add "mi solecito". After a while I was like "if Cande or JA say mi gotita de miel or mi solecito again, I'll scream at the TV".
I got the same gist as you, that there was a real life love triangle among Erika, Marjorie, and Eduardo [they called him Lalo].
I think Erika might have denied the Lalo love stuff, but the panel wasn't buying it. Erika denied any arguments or scenes with Marjorie, but admitted they weren't friends and had a cold relationship, barely speaking. She also talked about the big pachanga the cast had the night before the wedding scene.
Anyone else who understood more, please chime in.
Huge, huge thanks to all recappers for your dedication and wit, and commenters too! This novela sparked some really interesting discussions about the characters.
Clara
There were rumors about Marjorie and Eduardo AND Erika and Eduardo. We don't know what happened between them because all of them guard their privacy firmly. After the finale Erika admitted she'd developed a crush on Lalo last year, but they aren't dating. However, she says they maintained a friendship - actually, some members of the cast (Erika, Sherlyn, Natalia, Eduardo, Eiza, Raquel, Michelle and Sebastián) seemed to become very close to each other, and some of them still hung out together. And most of them use twitter on a daily basis, so it isn't hard to follow who likes whom. :)
I missed the first hour and turned on the tv just in time to watch JA and Franky discover Kendra's body. I have to say I think out of all the countless TN villains and villainesses, Kendra received one of the best comeuppances.
I really liked to see the ending for Beatrice and Salsero.. I'm glad they decide to give their relationship a second chance. I also loved to see how Guillo acted towards Salsero.. It was really nice to see.
Although I didn't exactly keep up with this TN, especially the last few episodes, I think it was pretty enjoyable.
Even though maybe Anibal's comeuppance was a little extreme I think it handled fairly well.
--TF
I am feeling happiness (at the wonderful finale) but great sadness as this journey is over. I remember feeling the same way when CS ended. It was only through the efforts of the extraordinary recappers (including Jeri who sadly wasn't with us this time), that CS was kept going after being banished to the midnight slot. You, Jeri and Vivi kept hope and happiness alive by recpaping the even better LaVerdad Occulta. You are so integral to the success of this blog Aribeth - you are amazing.
Thanks to you, Madelaine, Elvira, Marta, NovelaMaven and Cynderella for your countless hours of crafting all of the riveting, wise and humorous recaps. You added so much and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. The commenters here are witty and wonderful. How proud I am to be a member of such an amazing group of people.
So many excellent comments have already been written, I will simply say I loved the finale and while I am not a fan of shared weddings, this was an exception. Vicky looked absolutely beautiful. All the children are well and happy, and loved. I am glad it was JA and Vicky that welcomed Mia into their lives. I know they will cherish her.
Santino lives another day to renew his life and live again. Happy for he and Bea.
One thing has been bothering me. Kendra ordered executions, Espanto carried them out. Is he any less culpable than she? Did he deserve mercy (which I feel life imprisonment was), while she was devoured by wild beasts?? This begs the question do female villains get worse punishments than their male counterparts? I guess that is an ongoing discussion (we have discussed this other times). Well, at least Espanto has Anibal to kick around ;).
Again, gracias.
Diana
I liked that the show didn't end with the wedding, they showed us what happened AFTER the wedding.
Kendra was ridiculous for wrapping toilet paper around her arm. She really had no way out. If she ran the wolves would've attacked her. STanding still dripping blood the wolves attacked her.
I was expecting somebody to shank Anibal in prison like Ruben from Teresa got shanked.
I like the Salsero actor. He's easy on the eyes so I'm glad his character got a happy ending. It's also good the characters he did wrong forgave him and welcomed him back into society.
I liked Guzman/Nikki proposal better than the Liliana proposal (although her dress was cute, cute, cute!) I thought the owl & Kenni G. was cute.
Diana: awwww, thank you so much!
I keep in touch with Jeri. She was following the show, she just didn't have time to read the recap and participate in the Patio. (She has problems with her eyes, so she can't spend to many time in front of her computer.)
***
I'm one of the few people who isn't crazy about how Adriana-Vicente relationship was written. Sure, the actors are adorable, and they have a nice chemistry. Their first meet after 19 years was very moving. I just found their relationship rushed. Almost 20 years passed by, but magically they hadn't changed a bit and they were both free and willing to start a new life together.
I secretly hoped Carlos would man up and become a good daddy and husband (like Salsero and Roy). By the way, Jhoaaaaannnn is the biggest loser of the show. Did he even visit his son? If he did, it would've been nice if Adriana/someone else mentioned it.
Anyway, naturally I'm glad that Adriana and Vicente are happy together. But they had a very "telenovelish" fairytale storyline.
Who knew that Salsero and Roy would turn into fan favourite characters? :) Especially Salsero. In my opinion he was the protagonist of the first 65% of the finale. And those scenes with Frankie, Guillo (who became kind, wise and handsome) and Bea were so beautiful. I'm happy that he served his time in prison. Otherwise he would've gotten away with his crimes too easily. I hope Guzmán and Arriaga visited/called him regularly.

Punishments of villians of the novelas I've seen:
FELS: Gabriela dies in the coffin; Fernando blows his head off.
MEPS: Artemio Bravo gets shot in the head; Barbara Greco gets sentenced to 200+ years in jail, then burns herself up & spends the rest of her days a charred up shell holding a picture of the grandson she'll never get to hold.
CS '09: Renato dies trying to save Regina; Leonarda is locked up in the cell eaten up by rats; Regina's dad has a heart attack in jail & dies.
LVO: The bad guy (who's name started with an A)...I think he got shot to death or blown up?
Sortilegio: Maura ended up in jail; Bruno got shot by his little henchman. Maria Jose's mom ended up in jail, too.
Teresa: Teresa gave all her money away & lost all her friends/family but still ended up with Arturo.
LFDD: Merry Piece died in surgery to give her mom a kidney. JJ ended up shunned by his family. Saul got shot in the ass & knee caps, hauled off to jail and killed himself
STuD: Ivana hung herself. Rosendo got blown up, then charged into Val & JM's wedding trying to wreck shop. I think Al saved the day & Rosendo ended up in jail carving Val out of his peg leg.
AdP: Gabino got caught by the police. Carmina's legs got cut off b/c of the accident & then she killed herself.
From the shows I've seen, it's about equal. Most of these people either end up in jail, die for their crimes or kill themselves so they won't have to face punishment in jail. From this list, Teresa & Juan Jose Mondragon got off easy. Neither one of them went to jail or had to die. Both of them ended up losing their family and friends but that wasn't really a punishment because you always got the sense that both of these characters would just dust themselves off and remake themselves.
Barbara Greco & Rosendo from STuD got the worst of it, IMO because they both had to be locked away from their loved ones for the rest of their lives and both of them were severely, severely disfigured.
I don't know, it seems about even to me, from the shows I"ve seen.
Great part one. The first part really was all about Salsero. As we knew all along, the Ikkis were very forgiving. It took Bea a little longer (six years!), but she got there eventually. Wouldn't it have been a twist though if Bea was accompanied by her new husband at the birthday party? What if her new husband was Carlos? LOL! So many possibilities. In any case, Salsero was lucky that a gorgeous, accomplished woman like Bea was still available.
Do you think they throw lavish parties like that for ALL the kids’ birthdays? That means they are getting together every few months/weeks to throw these parties. Good thing all the baby daddies are making good money as surgeons/bodyguards/gardeners/agronomist/diamond smugglers(?!).
Cynderella and Doris: LOL!! i have to agree that Pablo Montero singing pretty much anything out of pitch is not something I look forward to... not after having seen LHDM ... well, nuff of that.
I believe what Bea told Santino at the end when they reconciled, besides I love you was stte of 'everyone deserves a second chance / a new beginning'. (meaning he deserves a new opportunity with them since he had paid for his mistakes and they really loved each other...)
I liked the realistic spread of kids (Mia with V/JA and Angelito, N/FG with two of their own, Lilli/Roy with 1 and 1 on the way)
Adri/Vic with Adrian... maybe they would get more later ...
too bad for Anyballs that he made so many wrong choices and tried to control his childrens lives that now he does ot get to enjoy grandchildren, (remember he mentioned in the beginning of the novela that he was looking forward to see the house full of little ones)
Anyway... even though I won't recap for a while I will keep visiting and commenting, maybe at least for QBA and PEAM, maybe LaT. Take care, cyberhug to all!!!
Hey I just turned 50!! and my grandson turned 4, both on Saturday!! pix on my facebook: Marta Montalvo-Ramos
Susalynn - on Sal y Pimenta they also seemed to be talking about how the other girls were mean to Marjorie on the set 'cause she is so pretty or something and stole the show with her looks and talent. I heard the words "high school" so it sounded like they thought the other actresses should have been more mature or something.
I too was hoping Carlos/Yoan would man up and be there for his kid, I thought the box of shame (which I loved by the way) would get him to realize what he was missing out on, but I guess not.
Speaking of Andrea Paz, someone mentioned femme fatales getting worse fates than the sleazeballs- Velo de Novia is a perfect example. Raquela was horribly disfigured, bitten by rats and had her legs broken but by her sadistic uncle who deserved exactly what she received. In the end, she had all the trauma of it and prison. Raquela's finale is among the best with Kendra and Isadora from Amor Bravio. And how did her uncle fare? Prison and a choking but that's a slap on the wrist compared to she mentioned before. Oh and for the hell of it, Odette was her auntie who killed Chatita from PEAM and ended up in prison along side her. And with al this greatly bad karma came along personal trauma since March 2013 LOL.
Overall, I'm on the look out for anything by Nicandro. And about Carlos Moreno's new project, I heard Lety Calderon wouldn't be a part of it because Wikipedia listed Blanca Guerra where I would assume her name would be. Maybe she still will be, and while I'm at it, there will be an Eva Luna like novella soon with Susy G. and Guy Ecker. Can't Wait!
How does Guzman introduce Salsero to his offspring?Kids, this is Salsero, who planned Mommy and Abuela's kidnappings with Mia's Mommy, a ho-and-a-half who murdered your Abuelo, who was also Mia's Daddy.
And, kids, this is Roy. He's Mommy's ex-husband, and he is marrying Lilliana, Mommy's cousin who was kidnapped at birth and secretly given to Jose Angel and Christina (his dead wife -- who, it so happens was also murdered by Mia's mommy)
That means that Abuela Vikki will now be the step-mother-in-law to her own ex-son-in-law Roy.
Perfectly clear.
Anyway . . .I'm not sure why it struck me so funny that Anibal was sentenced to 89 year "y seis meses." For some reason, that really cracked me up.
Marie in Natick
Odette was redeemed? Because she was still taunting Anibal? Wasn't she involved in getting Salsero/Kendra focused on the Balvanera fortune in the first place?
Redeemed because she capitulated on Estefano's marriage to Jean Marie? a positive step, true, but what else did I miss?
A slap on the wrist compared to Gasca's fate in Alborada. There I was troubled that Juana and Diego, those who ordered the crimes, got to slip away peacefully under Modesta's potion, while Gasca, the instrument of their evil, bore the brunt of the suffering, but here I find the henchman's fate unsatisfyingly bland.
While it is nice to know that there is someone on hand to make Anibal's days miserable, there would probably have been plenty of other volunteers for that duty. Surely something more should have been in store for our only surviving, hands on, killer.
While in many theological systems God's grace may be freely given to the most vile upon their contrition or repentence, TN justice has never been that merciful, and we are spared the conflict because the Espantos and Gascas of the TN world never quite seem to manage an "I'm sorry" much less genuine repentence.

Odette confessed all she had done to Ms Vikki out of revenge against Anyballs. Ms Vikki forgave her and so she was redeemed. She told Ms Vikki about setting up that elevator incident in the early part of this TN when Ms Vikki almost lost an account for a French wine company and the rest of her various sins, all to get back at Anyballs. Hope that answers your question.
Thanks. If her victim forgave her, that's certainly good enough. Must've been focused on a ball game when that scene came along. Not safe to multi-task during the finale like it is along the way during the long months of snail-like exposition.
Hey, did I also miss Opalina? was she in one of the party scenes? Next to a mysterious stranger or holding her own little bit of hope for the future?
In any event, let me get in thanks to each recapper, and the active commenters, who made this show comprehensible to someone who tuned out after the first couple episodes and didn't begin to return until after AB ran its course.
I tried to shuffle my feet every once in a while, but I know I didn't thank everyone enough along the way. I didn't watch AV closely enough to really claim I was working on my Spanish, but when I would puzzle over a passage, your detailed recaps helped.
I'm not sure every moment of every episode was worthy of your efforts, but then, I suspect some of the funniest snark was produced in recapping some of the daffier material. (Adriana's rocks anyone?)
As it was, you helped me keep up with the plot and made connections that I missed even when it got to the point that I had seen the relevant earlier material.
Thanks again,
Chris in FL
Very satisfying to see Vicky, Angelito and "agronomist, countryside-loving daddy" together and happy. Eduardo and Erika made this novela for me.
Santino paid for his crimes but it was only due to the generous hearts of his victims that he was forgiven.
Can't wait for Part II.
Diana
Thanks for helping to explain exactly what Betty said to Santino....and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and Doris.
My birthday was the 26th...a great week of birthdays for Carays.
Marie in Natick....Natick, MA?
I'm from MA originally and have
a good friend there. I liked your analysis of Guzman introducing his children ...hysterical, actually.
I too found it very funny about the 6 mos. added on to Anibal's sentence.
What's with JA wearing glasses?
Is this his new intellectual agronomist look?
I think EY actually wears them in real life and may wear contacts when working in TN'S. He was wearing glasses when he and EB hosted the Premios Juventud.
Aribeth---I read your part one and I thank you for it. I was looking for part two but couldn't find it. I hope there is nothing wrong with my computer and that it's just not up yet.
In your part #1 I liked your question---Do you want to know what
she is careing about the most? She
doesn't want a scar on her arm to be ruining her beauty. LOL The wolves did a pretty good job of that I'd say.
I also liked---The Barbie Doll can't stop screaming and crying , she's in pain. The memberes of viewerville try to practice forgiveness and mercy, but they are
having a hard time of it. YOU DESERVED IT B****!
A clarification---In my previous post, I meant that Kendra is suffering more now in her after life than she did being killed by the wolves.
One thing that didn't make sence to me. How did Hilda know to call the police when that guy came in to Anibal's office? She didn't know what he was there for.
Anibal should have died in Nuevo York for failure to deliver the diamonds but I guess for the storyline, he had to suffer the fate of not seeing or being with his family again.
Unlike KendKo, Espanto got off easy
Question---Don't people with money or wealth get killed in Mexican prisons if payouts aren't made, or are we supposed to overlook that this time?

Gilda had seen that henchie before when he came to see Anyballs, him and another henchie and she didn't trust them. Gilda heard all about Anyballs' fleeing the country so I suppose she thought she ought to call the cops before that henchie left. She knew he must be up to no good, the henchie and Anyballs.
I think the Ho was trying to call Espanto. You are right, that he was the only one she could trust.
Thank you Airbeth, Madelaine, NovelaMaven, Marta, Elvira and the subs for all your creativity and "education" driven (sigh) recaps.
AV was so different from AB, which I thought was superb, but this one drew me in, admittedly after all the early crazy kidnappings were finished. Loved Vikki and JA together. They didn't sizzle on screen, but who can forget their "first time" after all the pent up passion that had been building. They represented a nice version of a mature relationship (except JA had to cry too often for my taste).
A big thank you to the Patio Peeps for widening our horizons with information both personal and cultural (and medical). Don't know if this close-knit community will happen again, but because of its commenters, AV will certainly have a special place in my list of favorite TNs.
I have a quite a few episodes to go through before I can publish the last issue of El Clamor Publico, and even wonder if anyone will still be interested enough to go back in time to read it, but I don't want to leave things unfinished.....
Anita
No problem, Anita! I'm so happy that you're back!
You aren't late - I'm still working on the second part of the finale.
Welcome back and please do a last edition of El Clamor Publico there will be so much in that last editon ; )
Now it's all mommy, school, and work for me. I'll stop by and say hello from time to time.
It was such a blessing to come across this website.
Gringo- I read the comments you stated for the 22nd and part II of the final and of course part III, there is always room at the Nikki table or I suppose you're right, now just one big table, big happy family :) I'm very content with Nikki and Lili's love for each other and true acceptance as cousins.
Everyone knows with my Favorite couple I am at pure bliss.
Much love to everyone!
Team Nikki/Guzmancito Siempre :)
AWESOME AS ALWAYS. Please say, "Hi."
to Jeri. She always wrote so beautifully. LA VERDAD OCULTA still stands as my favorite (and late night too) telenovela. [Recappers; Aribeth, Jeri & Vivi] Diana had mentioned it, and I believe Adolfo was the villain played by the sensational Julio Aleman who died not too long ago and left an enormous void in the world of acting.
Yes, Santino's hair was better, and the other part I really liked was when Betty went over to talk to
Santino, and Guillo blabbed to him that his mother had missed him very much. Such great acting when Betty gave kind of a scolding, yet loving, embarrassed look to Guillo for spilling the beans as to her emotions. And don't forget, when Santino asked Betty if he could have a second opportunity, the first thing that she said was, "I love you." I still cannot hear exactly what she said after that.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL - GREAT DEDICATION & GREAT FUN!
You are awesome, simply awesome! Thanks so much for the great part two of this recap. It is so sad it ended, but I love the way the writers ended this TN. It got everything neatly tied up and wrapped in a bow. The scenery at the end was just gorgeous. Thanks so much for this awesome ending.
Victoria in Texas:
Yes, please do stop by once in a while and say howdy. I am glad you got to catch up with this ending.

"where she could create her newest assassinations of art" (I admit I liked her art too - that "angel" was one of my favorites), "Dances with Sunglasses (who after approximately 130 episodes FINALLY has a good hairstyle again!" and "three Erynies (goddesses of vengeance" were a few of my favorites.
Your screen shots totally enhanced the marvelous recap.
Such happy endings. What a trip this was.
Sensational Aribeth! Thanks again for everything.
Diana
And Floridia, yes, Jeri was truly missed - she is a lovely, talented person. Hope you had a wonderful birthday.
Diana
And of course Ms. Vikki will have a workshop there where she creates
her newest assassinations of art.
I also liked---The supergardeners use their superhero power called "hyper cuteness" on Arriaga.
It works.
It's been almost a week and I am still thinking about the show. Who couldn't miss it I ask? This one was good from start to finish and not only that, the recap team made it even better. You guys are super.
Anita--I look for El Clamor Publico
every day, I know that it will be worth the wait.

Ibarramedia
Anita - Looking forward to your last El Clamor Publico.
I hope all of you are doing well, enjoying telenovelas and life as usual.
I just wanted to inform you that this weekend was the TVyNovelas Awards. There were two ceremonies: one on Saturday for the "favourites of the public" with the less serious, more fun categories like "best kiss" or "best slap" and "best couple", and another on Sunday for the classic categories (best telenovela, script, actors, and so on).
Amores verdaderos won the best telenovela, Erika, Sherlyn, Susana and Ana Martín also won.
Eiza González, Eduardo Yanez and Fernando Colunga weren't even nominated, rumor says it's because they couldn't attend the ceremony. (Eiza and Lalo are working in the US right now, and Fernando has his play in the theatre). So needless to say, the nominations and the whole ceremony was a joke, but nevertheless, I'm VERY happy for Erika, Susana and AV. Those awards were well deserved.
