Corazon indomable #53, Thursday, 07/25/2013, A fugitive, a pilot and a gigolo in training walk into a Casino...

MariAle, wearing a hot red dress that looks even hotter on her, is talking with Juanita about what a woman should and should not accept from a man. She explains that she was once a whole lot poorer than Juanita is now and yet, she never allowed for any man to buy her, because that would have meant turning her into a slave. (Pardon me if I disagree, Miss. Mendoza - Octavio didn’t “buy” you, but he didn’t treat you like a princess, either)

Miguel and Tav are at the airport, waiting to board the plane for Isla Dorada. Ed joins them – he’s not told about what happened back at the ranch, though.

Juan Pablo and Santa - with the long waves of hair in the wind - talk about how Ewsebio died before telling the whole truth about what he’s done to MariCruz. What other horrible things will happen to the Narvaez from now on, they ask themselves, but it’s kind of rhetorical, because everybody knows karma is a B… (And to think that MariCruz didn’t even have to move a finger against them until now).

In the plane Miguel remembers Lucia and the way he shot Ewsebio. Tav puts the plane on auto pilot (one would hope) and comes to talk to him about what his bro will do on the island.
He’ll live in a cheap hotel, not far from his own, Tav explains (what, no roomies?). Miguel is worried because he doesn’t have that much money, but Tav assures him he’ll pay for everything, even if that makes Miguel feel bad (and Rene S. plays the ruin so well, I really feel sorry for him)
Miguel wants his brother to send Lucia a letter, explaining where he is, and Tav suggest a telegram, the only safe way he can think of to get in contact with her under these circumstances. (We don’t call you Oblivio for nothing, boy, of course you can’t think of other safe ways of communication in the 21st century).
Miguel would like to get a job on the island, too, but Tav thinks that would be very difficult because aside from the Casino and the hotels, there is not much to do around there – and even if he did find a job, Miguel has to realize it would be something muy modesto. But Miguel is willing to accept whatever he finds because he has to support himself one way or another. (As opposed to his work at the ranch – riding his horse all day, planning to buy cattle that he never bought and gazing at the orange groves, any job will feel like a nightmare for Miguel, so he better think about this one for a minute.)

The Cansicko sisters talk about the way La Mendoza managed to charm the Governor, too. “Just like all the other men”, Raiza notices, with a sort of resignation. Carola doesn’t care about that, though, but about the fact that both the Emir and the Gov are very powerful. Raiza thinks that since the Gov is a widow, surely MariAle will want to marry him. (I bet that’s what you’d want)
Always quick in asserting how any situation might end up affecting her personally, Carola is sure that would mean the end for her, because La Mendoza would have all the power on the isle (as opposed to now when she has all the power in the Casino? – Are you trying to gain Island domination, too, Carola?) Not to worry, though, she already has a plan to stop the supposed marriage. (Little does she know that a certain pilotonto is all that MariAle really cares about.) The Gov’s kids won’t like the liaison, so Carola wants to use the payment orders they signed to get money to play at the Casino in order to manipulate them how she best sees fit. Raiza thinks this is a great idea, but before Carola can explain what it is that she plans to do exactly, Andres arrives and is asked to sit down for a long chat.

Back at the ranch, Lucia is telling Juan Antonio that even if he doesn’t have all the necessary experience yet, she wants to give him Ew’s job. She brings up the fact that Miguel killed Ew and warns him not to dare to pull any kind of tricks, because Miguel will take care of him, too. (Yeah, because that’s what Miguel does now, plays the mercenary killer for his wife)
JA promises to behave and Lucia promises to double his salary. From now on he’ll have to take care of everything on the ranch, learn how to drive, get his license, accompany her to town every now and then – and everything will be done legally and in perfect order. In other words, Lucia is staging a coup and seeing Miguel’s run down expression today and knowing his character, I think she’ll do a much better job than he used to do.

The plane is still in the air and Captain Tav is still chatting with Miguel (hopefully Ed is on his best behavior back in the cockpit, but with him you never know whether he’s flying a plane, seducing a flight attendant or trying to do both and failing miserably). Miguel thinks all that is happening is God’s punishment, but Tav is the fatalistic kind, he thinks what has to happen, happens no matter what. Miguel has to get over it, change his attitude. But big bro can’t do that just yet, he’d like a drink instead. Tav warns him that only weak characters find solace in alcohol. (Because brave soul that he is, he didn’t spend an entire night drinking and crying like a baby just a few weeks ago for something far less critical than what Miguel is going through right now)

Carola is explaining to Andres about the advantages of helping one another; he is interested, but he doesn’t want his sister involved, he’ll take the responsibility for everything. Oh, what a gentleman, Carola flatters him and then goes straight to the blackmailing part, by reminding him the debts he and Doris have at the Casino. He knows those debts weren’t going to remain unpaid, but Carola plays the fool, pretending she never meant to use them, but she has to, poor gal, because of big bad Alejandra Mendoza, who is trying to trick the Gov into marriage. Andres doesn’t think MariAle is so dangerous, but Carola states that she herself never backs down and is capable of everything to achieve her goals. Proving to be way smarter than he appears he suggests they wait and see what his dad’s intentions are before doing anything. Also, he says he’ll find a way to get his hands on the payment orders that Carola is threatening with.
He leaves and Raiza points out that he was upset and worries that Carola’s plan won’t work.

In a car now, Tav tells Miguel he can stay with him tonight. Looking worse than ever, Miguel says he wants to find a job, he can’t live with the money Lucia sends or from Tav’s pity. He wants to buy a newspaper and see what kind of jobs there are. All through his talks with Miguel Tav thinks to himself that his bro is in really big trouble and worries about his future.

MariAle comes to Carola to ask for an office of her own, because she’ll work there; this way Carola won’t have any reasons to complain that she’s not getting involved, like she did with Don Ale. Carola can take care of the actual gambling, while she will be the administrator. (With what experience, I wonder. Has MariAle graduated from some sort of business school in between etiquette lessons and vengeance monologues?). Carola knows this means MariAle wants to be in charge of the financial aspects of the business, but MariAle promises complete transparency. She wants to get involved, work and be useful. Carola warns her this will be a difficult task, she can attest to that from a woman’s point of view. Not for MariAle, though!  No, Sir, there is nothing that she can’t do! (Unless Tav changes his flight schedule, I suppose)

For a moment, we get to see Teo in a hospital bed and we find out he had his first plastic surgery. His face is completely covered in bandage sheets - a nurse tells him there will be another 10 days before he can take them off (tick tack, tick tack).

MariAle and Carola start their working relationship by arguing over who gets to hire a replacement for Teo (oh, that was to easy, just call Miguel). MariAle wins the argument and then leaves to check on some repairs she ordered. Behind her, Carola swears to herself that she’ll find a way to tame the savage B. (Good luck with that!)

Looking HAWT with a pair of sunglasses, Ed is eating breakfast the next day (and this is totally my opinion, since there are no indications that any time has passed); Tav comes by and tells him that something really bad has happened with Miguel. Then he explains him what Miguel did and that they have to help him. Ed realizes Miguel is now a fugitive and asks about Lucia. Poor woman, she is all alone at the ranch with a small child and another one on the way (Did anyone get a ‘poor Lucia’ vibe from her talk with JA? All I got was: “I’m the new ranch owner, hear me roar!”) – Tav is sure the ranch will be lost, the lands, everything – the Narvaez are cursed.

In the very next scene Doris calls Ed from the hotel lobby and this is worth the typing effort only to tell you that his shirt is unbuttoned and he looks mighty fine. Ed explains that Tav is busy with his brother, but he takes a message: Doris wants to meet him at the Casino that night. After he hangs up Ed expresses his jealousy over the fact that Tav gets to be called by all the rich girls, while he only gets the pobretonas  (I kind of see his point, I would take Ed over Tav every day of the week – but then again, I’m not rich).

Finally settling into normal ranch wear (jeans, a shirt, a kind of kerchief on the head, but with her curls still intact) Lucia receives a telegram from Miguel, letting her know he is fine, he’s searching for a job and he loves her. She loves him, too, and she misses him.
When Esther comes in and mentions that all the work she’s doing might be dangerous for the baby she’s carrying, Lucia explains that she’s feeling very well, and she’s doing all this for Miguel, to make him proud and maybe even turn the ranch into a richer place. Esther thinks she is exaggerating, Lucia looks tired in her opinion, but Lucia is determined to give Miguel good news when she sees him again. She is also very happy, because she knows Miguel didn’t cheat on her, had that been the truth, she would have killed him.
She even says that maybe it was better that things happened this way and if Miguel doesn’t return she’ll go to find him and in the meantime she’ll raise the kids and be their mother and their father to make him proud. Esther insists that she should take it easy with the harder jobs around the ranch, let the peones take care of those, but Lucia wants to be just like Miguel. Miscarriage alert!

Ed (who has a problem buttoning his shirt – and I’m not complaining) tells Tav that Doris called and gives him her message. But Tav is not interested, even if she is rich. Ed insists that he needs to take advantage, wonders why he never gets a chance like this. Go right ahead, Tav suggests, she’s all yours. And besides, he has bigger worries now, with Miguel who is feeling very bad – maybe they should take him to the Casino.

Andres and his friend (what’s her name?) talk about his dad being interested in MariAle. He doesn’t think that’s the case, he’s more worried that his dad came to the Casino searching for him and Doris. He’ll get the payment orders back from Carola, but he has to keep going to the Casino, too, because there is nothing that can keep Doris away from that place and he has to accompany her.

When night comes, the guys are getting ready to go to the Casino. Tav is wearing a tux because he has to be presentable enough for Doris, and Ed is left in charge of Miguel. Tav warns him to keep an eye on his brother’s drinking, but Ed would rather they got drunk together (that’s my boy!).

Raiza and Tony (another fine piece) talk about the Gov’s kids and Carola’s plan; neither understands very well what that plan is, though.
Tav, Ed and Miguel arrive at the Casino (Do you think Miguel’s tux is a rental or did he have the time to pack fancy attire in his fugitive backpack?)
Raiza and Tony talk about the pilots, and the pilots talk about Raiza and Tony… truly riveting scene …Ed wants to take Miguel as a wingman, suggests he should maybe hook up with Raiza (that’s actually not a bad idea) and Tav adds his two cents by suggesting that Miguel pretend to be a rich rancher, that will surely gain him a lot of attention with the ladies (Isn’t the whole point of being a fugitive the fact that you have to stay hidden, lay low?)
In the meantime he’ll take a stroll in search of Maria Alejandra or Maricruz the Third (You, guys, Tav is reading Caray Caray, he knows how we call her!). And in one brief moment of cleverness, Tav says he plans to facilitate a meeting between the girl and Miguel!... but only because he wants to see Miguel’s reaction (come on, Tav, you made me hope for a moment, what you need to see is HER reaction, not your brother’s – and btw, have we seen Ed put two and two together about MariAle giving birth and MariCruz being pregnant?)

Ed and Miguel go to talk to Raiza, they chit chat about Tav and Doris for a while and then Ed introduces Miguel to Raiza. She kind of likes what she sees, so let’s see how that turns out. The talk then goes back to Tav and Doris and even Miguel assures Raiza that if Doris only wants to have fun with Tav, so does Tav.

Tav and MariAle meet in the Casino and they kind of start this seduction game, smiling and taunting one another. Since I always complain about this tn, I also have to give credit where credit is due. These two have tons of chemistry together, but we NEVER see them share more than one scene every other episode. MariAle is always with Carola or Teo and Tav is with Ed. 50+ episodes in and I have to wonder, isn't this a tn, where is the romance? The Emir sending MariAle expensive jewelery doesn't count. (And this is turning into a complaint again, so I better stop).
Anyway, they talk about the lady that Tav is waiting for, but MariAle doesn’t like the fact that people come to the Casino to hook up (noviar), she wants them to gamble. They continue to talk about Doris and the Casino’s prosperity and whatnot and I’m thinking that we really haven’t seen these two share a kiss from around episode 15, I believe? And also, I don’t like MariAle’s hair gathered in this severe, English Governess, bun.

Raiza, Ed and Miguel talk about Miguel’s land and she wants to know if there is any oil on it (because that’s the first thing that pops into mind when you think land owner, I guess besides from the Casino and the hotels, Isla Dorada is also a sort of Texas of Mexico, if Raiza is so used to thinking about oil). In a way that totally makes me chuckle Ed doesn’t discard this possibility (tonight he’s working over time to hook up both Tav and Miguel with women, but maybe he should concentrate on finding himself a rich squeeze instead of complaining that Tav has all the luck). Raiza invites a completely passive Miguel to take a tour of the place, she thinks he’s much more serious and guapo than Tav.

Andres and Doris are getting ready to leave for the Casino when papi comes to talk to them. He forbids them to go to the Casino and wants to talk to Doris about her getting married, if they want to be forgiven for the debt. Doris is very happy with this deal, because for the first time, she is in love and papi could even give her pilot a job in the Government. (LOL) But the Gov repeats she and Andres are not to set foot in the Casino again, they are ruining his political image in doing so. Doris asks for one more night, just to meet Tav. The Gov agrees, but just this once.

Back at the Casino MariAle wonders if Doris will ever show up and thinks that Tav should really want her to come because she has all those millions, after all. (Maybe MariAle and Ed should exchange notes about the best possible ways to turn Tav into a gigolo) This is the moment when Ed comes with news about Miguel drinking too much and Tav wastes the biggest opportunity of the century in not looking at MariAle’s shocked face when she hears his brother’s name. After the guys leave she thinks to herself that she has to find out why Miguel is on the island.

Miguel is rambling to Raiza about the life he left behind when Tav comes to take him home. From behind MariAle shows her face, too, but she’s all smiles, as Miguel looks like he’s just seen a ghost. Tav and Ed drag him out of the Casino, while Miguel starts saying that he saw MariCruz.

Behind them MariAle wonders why Miguel is there and is happy that destiny is finally helping her meet the desgraciados that hurt her so much. And with some dramatic music and MariAle’s crazy eyes, we end the episode.

Preview:
MariAle warns Doris not to trust in Tav’s feelings to much; Doris thinks that being the Gov’s daughter and a young and pretty thing is enough not to get hurt (can you say clueless)
Tav tells Ed that he had a good time with Doris and she is a very passionate woman (so they had more than a good time, then?), but he’s not in love with her. Ed advises him to trap her fast because it will be a great business for him
MariAle warns the Gov about not allowing Doris to marry Tav.

Thanks for the great recap Adriana. It's fun having Miguel on the island-- so very three musketeers, only more inept. Now can two sets of brain cells work enough to determine if Mari is the real MC. C'mon guys, you can do it. And yes, Rene plays dejected and anguished very well.

I kind of agree with the romance stuff Adriana. Gees, if Tav had gotten it on with Doris, I could have stood watching perhaps some shirtlessness and steaminess vs. rants into the camera.

I've never gotten why., if Mari is the controlling shareholder of the casino why she didn't just fire Carola's sorry butt. I've missed some episodes, so maybe I didn't catch that reason. It's so boring watching them argue day after day and then we get the endless "I'll get her" from both of them. Yeah, we get it.

I know Ed is supposed to be sort of a snook, but I have to say he makes me chuckle sometimes and is endearing himself to me more and more. At least he's fun to watch.

Wow, a bandana head scarve. Lucia is really working!! I'll believe it when I see a little dirt smudged or a broken finger nail. Maybe not so much makeup?? It can attract the insects because of the content. Just sayin'. I agree that convo with Awfelia had every clichéd warning but a big red flashing sign saying "danger danger". We can't have a somewhat sane Lucia for long, so miscarriage may bring the nuttiness back. And of course she'll blame MC for it all.

Teo in ten days--wonder what will happen in that time that leads to his big reveal.

Daisynjay

Your title sounds like a start to a good joke, maybe we could come up with the rest of it.
I can't read the recap yet, I'm off to work, but will be back soon.

Thanks Adriana for your very fun recap. I especially enjoyed " we don't call you Oblivio for nothing" and "miscarriage alert."

My favorite part of the episode was when in the middle of Lucia's manic interchange with Esther, Esther asks her if she's crazy. Sure looks like it.

Jarifa

Cathyx, that's what I was going for with my title, thanks for noticing :)

Daisy, as much as I dislike both Tav and Mari right now, I wouldn't mind some TLC; every revenge tn has to have that, too, or else it's not a tn anymore.
I love Ed, too, if for nothing else, the fact that he fancies open shirts. I'm starting to think that Daniel Arenas isn't very comfortable with his nakedness (or he needs a few more hours at the gym) - I've never ever seen a galan as dressed as him.
By the look of the review Tav and Doris do get it on together...would it be to much to ask them to show us some skin?

Jarifa, Esther was great with her facial expressions when talking to Lucia. Who would have thought that she would end up being the sane one... Only in a tn

"Daisy, as much as I dislike both Tav and Mari right now, I wouldn't mind some TLC; every revenge tn has to have that, too, or else it's not a tn anymore. ]"

THIS!! Yes, there is usually some lip action, then breaking up, then lip action, than heartbreak...if there's one cliché they should use, throw us a bone and do that. Hadn't thought about Daniel maybe not being so comfortable with the makeout scenes or showing his bod. Trying to think back to Teresa whether the scenes he had with Fernanda were equally as lacking in skin. We were able to get enough with Sebastian and Aaron that we may not have noticed. I checked online, and dang if there are very FEW pis of him without clothes on, which is very rare for TN galan stars. The few there are mighty fine though. Who knew--a shy galan.

Daisynjay

Adriana- Great set-up title, leading to a fun recap as the punch line. ITA about the writers needing to throw us a bone every now then by having our main couple flirt or have amorous interactions more than every 50 episodes and for more than 20 seconds at a time.

I had to laugh at Ester making such a big deal about a pregnant woman working. Lucia isn’t even far along. Pregnant women work every day all over the world! I’d actually say that keeping herself occupied is better for Lucia then sitting around doing nothing but feeding her crazy delusions. But, of course, I’m sure the writers will prove Ester right by having Lucia miscarry.

Saw an interview with Daniel Arenas recently and apparently he is quite reserved (personality wise), so I wouldn’t be surprised if that also means he doesn’t like showing a lot of skin. He may want to reconsider his career choice…

RECAPPERS NEEDED:

Hello all- We need a new recapper to share recapping on Tuesdays with Adriana. Our dear Jardinera is swamped these days with her QBA recaps and, you know, life.

We also would like another recapper to share Thursdays with La Paloma, who has that day alone right now.

Anyone who would like to try their hand at recapping for the first time, this is a great opportunity because you would only have to recap every other week. If you're interested, please click on my name or avatar and send me an e-mail.

Thanks Adriana Noel. Very well done, you kept me smiling the whole way.

"Do you think Miguel’s tux is a rental or did he have the time to pack fancy attire in his fugitive backpack?"

My guess is that he has the same brand (Tardis?) of magic suitcase that Maricruz has.

Carlos

I'm back and had a moment to read the recap. It seems like there was a lot of wasted airtime, and that they could have cut a lot out without messing with the story line. What is the deal with Andres and the IOUs? Where is that story going? I hope it has relevance, because I'm tired of being taken in every direction for no reason.

Miguel and MC have to eventually see each other face to face. Will she convince him that she's not Maricruz? He will probably get Teo's old job, but what happens now with Miguel on the scene? I'm getting a headache with all the different directions and thinking that many of them will probably be dead ends. I'm so confused right now.

I forgot to thank Adriana for the recap. Thank you. There are too many characters and stories for me to keep up with. Am I the only one who is quite lost?

Cathyx, I don't feel lost, just incredibly bored and today I realized why: there is no romance in this tn, only a lot of plotting and characters who complicate things - just like you said.

Mari is not acting like someone set on revenge, her priorities are all over the place, all she's done until now was fight with Carola over the Casino, that is ALL, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't know how she intends to destroy the Narvaez by becoming the administrator of some random Casino on a random island - what she should do is find a way to buy their ranch, seduce Tav and then dump him - but REALLY seduce him, not this push and pull she's been doing since they met again.

Has anyone seen Mala Mujer, a tn from Venezuela (it aired in the 90's)? The heroine wanted to revenge her twin sister's death so she changes her appearance and gets a job with the man who she thinks betrayed her sister - and then shamelessly seduces him while she is falling for him, too. That was the first tn with a revenge plot I've ever seen, but it was just so memorable!! Why can't they do something similar with CI?

Cathyx- I'm not lost, but I am amazed by the poor writing and editing on this tn. Just a few tweaks here and there, and a few less characters, would have made this so much better and coherent.

A telegram??? Land line phones??? Where are the cell phones, voice mail and texting??? Is there no cell coverage in Mexico.

Anywho, love the recaps and look forward to the clever, biting comments every day. Thanks to all the recappers. Would love to volunteer, but my Spanish is so limited, you would get some really bizarre story lines from me. (Even more weird than the tn writers have come up with)

Emeraldrose- I'm sure whatever storyline you came up with based on what you thought happened, would be better than anything these writers dreamed up.

how much is "these writers" and how much whoever came up with Marimar or whatever that, in turn, was based on (la venganza or something like that)?
I have gathered that they have added Solita (remember her?) and changed the occupation of the galan, but isn't the basic outline of the plot, with the accompanying prolonged failure to realize MA is MC, and focus on her quest for vengance against her husband and his family, taken over from the prior version(s)?
I'm not asking for a point by point comparison of the details, but wasn't the "set-up" for the massively successful Thalia version pretty much just as outlandish as for this one?
CinFL

Thanks for another witty, well-paced recap Adriana. I'm always amazed at your perfect English (and grasp of American slang) in addition to your proficiency in Spanish.

Loved "pilotonto". So clever. Like the way you play with words.

And thanks for highlighting "noviar" as "hooking up". You're batting a thousand in both languages.

Also, I'm with you, in that the tight top-bun hairdo is not the best look for our lovely actress. She looks like she's wearing a black muffin on her head. A ballerina bun, a pony tail, or her hair hanging loosely....all quite beautiful. But the muffin top, no!

Now to hear Gringo's reaction....LOL

Anyway, many thanks m'dear. Great recap.

ChrisinFL- I have seen "rosa" tns like this one (tns with very clichéd, romanticized plots) done very well. Refugio Para El Amor is one of those. We could complain about the thick-headedness of the galan, but the quality of the directing, writing and editing was never in question. That tn was a remake, of a remake, of a remake. It's the job of these writers to improve on the last efforts-- tighten and freshen, like a good facelift or a subtle dose of Botox. Otherwise, there's no point in doing it again. The only improvement I can surmise from the parts of Marimar I've seen vs. this version, is the quality of lead actress. Nothing against Thalia, but I hate her acting style.

Adriana Noel---A big thank you. I was so enjoying your recap, with an abundance of humor and snark. I started to write down your great lines, but there were just too many
A laugh a minute.
Miguel in a rental tux?
Miguel as a replacement for Teo?
Ed flying the plane or seducing a flight attendant.
The point of being a fugitive-lay low.
There's more, as I said, a laugh a minute.

From yesterday--------
Eli---I sent you a late thank you.

Oblivio---Yes Santa and Antonio told told him the truth about Maricruz but he chose to believe his family over the hired help. It's that simple.

Carlos---Yes Miguel was protecting
his wife but he still shot an unarmed man in the back. He would be prosecuted for that here and also there too I supose. He's now a fugitive.

Carlos---Your lucifer was in tight jeans again last night. Actually there were three pairs of tight jeans last night, I was thinking about you. I wondered if you noticed?

Adriana Noel---Yes, Daniel could spend a few more hours in a gym. But I ask you, does every man have to be MR. Muscle?

Cathyx---If you are "so confused"
right now, you will just have to keep watching to find out where everything is going. We will get all of the answers soon enough. At this point, the storyline is still building.

Daisynjay---I'll believe it when I see a little dirt smugeed or a
broken fingernail. Come on, give lucifer a break. She's working hard to save the ranch. She changed
from designer dresses to designer
bluejeans didn't she?

La Paloma---White dress with black
leaves/vines appliqued on it. Yes,
I agree the dress was beautiful but a goddess looks beautiful in anything.
the gringo

JudyB---I liked the bun and all of the other do's. A goddess looks beautiful in anything or any hair style. There are a lot of pretty--
beautiful women, but few goddesses.
the gringo

So right...not many goddesses Gringo, and I agree, Ana Brenda qualifies. I was quite impressed with her beauty as an evil sidekick in Sortilegio and figured she'd be tapped for a starring role soon...and she was.

As for the actor playing Octavio, we had some nice hunky scenes on the beach in Teresa and he was quite good-looking and well built. Not sure why he's gone all timid now but if I were a guy and had that bod' I wouldn't hesitate to show it off.

Flaunt it while you can, sez I, because time does dreadful things to ligaments and skin. No matter how hard you work out, after a certain point...well, you look old. Just sayin'.

Gringo, I'm glad I made you laugh, I know how much you love the tn and believe me or not, whenever I think about writing something nasty I immediately say to myself: "Gringo won't approve" :))

Judy B, thank you for your praise, it really makes me feel better, because it takes a lot of work to stay in touch with a foreign language - that's why I do these recaps and I am trying to write a book, also - forgetting is so easy (let me know if you're interested, I'd like a fresh, American opinion)

Emeraldrose, that line about telegrams made me think we were watching Amor Real or Corazon Salvaje, it was so stupid - besides, can't a telegram be traced far easier than an e-mail, for example - I don't think the pueblo police has any hackers on its payroll.

Thanks Adriana, perfect as allways!

I'm also loosing interest, never real action just a lot of dancing around these days the same old- same old.

ITA with you about the random island-random casino thing, however it seems all characters she want to have her venganza on show up sooner or later on her doorstep, - (If the mountain will not go to Mahomet....)- I wonder how long will it take for Luciafer & Ester to follow Miguel.

Also, MC might get a kick out of lording over Carola, otherwise she would have fired her ages ago.

JudyB - LOL the muffin hair, agreed that not the best hairdo for AB.

Question writers, WHAT HAPPENED TO SOLITA??!

Yeah, the telegram thing is a prime example of these writers being lazy! Just think what they could do if they had these characters texting, using the cell phones some of them have, or e-mailing more often (since Don Ale died, no one has e-mailed anyone).

Thank for the excellent recap!

I agree with Daisynnay, I don't know why MA doesn't get rid of Carola. Unless when she bought her 20% she was also guaranteed a job with salary. I'm sick of the fighting.

I wish Ed and Doris would get together bec those two know how to have fun!

Everyone is complaining about MA getting all of the men but she has done nothing to warrant it, other than look gorgeous. I think the severe bun is supposed to be warning them off but the men on this show don't have much sense.

I was hoping that Miguel would see MA and in his drunken state, put aside the fact that she is done up, drop to his knees and grab her legs and beg for forgiveness. It would make her quest for vengeance a little more complicated if at least one of these people felt truly sorry for the damage done. Tav hears bad news, feels bad for 10 seconds, and then is back to square one. Not doing anything to find MC, who he now knows has his child.

Adriana...of course I'm interested. I'm not as up to date on current slang as the young people but I'd love to see what you're writing and to give you feedback on language questions if you want it. Anything I can do to be supportive....

I'm sure there are others here on this blog as well...

I have a Colombian friend here who is patiently correcting my Spanish and I provide her with new expressions in English. For me, that's what language is about...communication between friends.

"elegram, the only safe way he can think of to get in contact with her under these circumstances. (We don’t call you Oblivio for nothing, boy, of course you can’t think of other safe ways of communication in the 21st century)."

This might not be such a long way out, just a few days ago I read an article about that the russians want to put back the traditional paper methods of communication and file recording and saving of secret documentations since this scandal of data breaches and governments spying over everything.
Just think it over, since globalization, in the age of smart phones, smart TVs and ubiquitous computing systems anyone can get into your emails, your blog or get data on any of us. It's scary.

For everyone wondering why Carola is still there, I think MC sees her as a good business partner. She's probably playing the "keep your friends close..." card with her.

I don't mind few shirtless scenes with Tav (for now, that is) because we get to see Ed show some skin. He's a loser, but he sure is chula ;) I'm wondering if he'll go after Juanita, who seems poised for a love interest after her chat with MC. Ed, Araceli, Juanita, and Jose Antonio are four hot singles who are bound to end up together.

JudyB, I just sent you a message in the gmail address I found on your profile.
I hope you receive it! :)

Bailey Marie, I love to joke about the guys not showing enough skin, but I don't mind not seeing Tav naked that much, either.
I do find this odd, though, considering that's a kind of a requirement in tns these days, and he did have a few opportunities to show up naked, when it wouldn't have been forced - like when MC shot him or when they made love.

Wow, I can't believe we're only at #53 with this one... seems so much longer!

The whole telegram thing was straight out of a 1940's film. Totally made me laugh!

I'm finding myself doing a lot of FFing these days. Things need to be moving along. I don't understand MA's seduction technique... there's playing hard to get, and then there's playing "ice queen"... I would have thought she'd be a little more encouraging if she wants him to fall in love with her, but then maybe she's trying to do the exact opposite she did as MC when she was launching herself at him all the time.

Anyway, the casino business, the Karim plot, even the Teo plot, are all losing me on this one :( I need the pace to pick up, some revelations to be made, and more Jose Antonio time. May just be tuning in to the recaps for a while.

On the upside, that baby with all that luscious hair is gorgeous. And she finally has a NAME!!

gringo,

from where I was sitting it looked as though Miguel shot Eusebio in the head after he had pushed Lucia to the ground and was in the midst of a violent assault. I don't think the fact that Eusebio was or was not armed is particularly significant under the circumstances.

I would have much preferred that Miguel had knocked him off with the butt of the rifle instead and am quite annoyed that Eusebio won't be having to answer for the rape of Solita, the fire, or the death of Ramiro.

I had to chuckle seeing Octav come out to talk to Miguel- not like he the pilotonto (HA) was busy with anything else. But the chuckling made me miss the part about the telegram. Does Western Union even do those anymore?

But I laughed out loud seeing Miguel in his tux. Good thing he only packed the essentials to flee! Hope he included the emergency dress shoes as well, otherwise, tacky.

Carlos was right though. This show does go better with tequila (Hornitos)!

Adriana - thanks for the great recap. Though Daniel A. (Tav) may be shy, we saw his body in Amorcito Corazon (at least it was in a tank top most of the time).

And ITA we need romance stat!
