PEAM #86- 7/8/13-When Will We See Alma Explode?? Uh, Not Tonight!

Happy Monday, no you are not reading it wrong. Today is Monday not Thursday but I am subbing for Cheryl tonight.  I hope that everyone had a great weekend.

We start of with Sebastian blaming Jesus for Rogelio’s failed marriage.  Sebastian presses Susana to see if she noticed anything between them and Susana sings Jesus’ praises.  Sebastian doesn’t want to hear it.
Paty the back stabber is trying to calm down Rogue.  Rogue does not want her to touch Alma’s bed.  Paty is trying to find out what brought up Alma’s conversation with him.   It was during the birthday party. She babbles on about how this took place before she sent the Jessica videotape to Alma.  She tries to put in Rogue’s head that Alma and Jesus spent the night in Toluca together.  Rogue is not buying it and Paty can’t believe it.
Alma is looking at the video and hears Paty the back stabber’s voice.  What is she doing at Rogue’s house??? Why is she jealous??? Alma is trying to put two and two together, but it’s taking awhile. (She could have flipped a table for a good effect)

Paty tells Rogue that Alma is not capable of deceiving Rogue.  Since Alma married you and didn’t love you.  It just shows what an upstanding person she is. She hates infidelity. She tells Rogue that she is faithful to him and loves her with all of her heat.

Alma is flipping out.  She doesn’t believe that Paty would betray her. She calls Paty’s house.  No answer.  She calls Paty’s cell.  No answer.

Elias and Jesus are still talking about Dr. Loca and Val has a nightmare.  She dreamt about Dr. Loca being a monster.  Val will be okay; she is with her 3 parents who love her. Que padre!!! (A touching scene)  The Ice Princess is melting!
Xochy/Natasha is singing at the club and Ferny is in love.  Thank goodness, Xochy can’t see him.  Julio tells Xochy that Ferny is in the audience, throwing flowers to her.  She puts on her glasses to see.  The crowd is yelling- another song!!!.  Ferny tries to go to the stage and Alex pulls him back.

Sebastian is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Jesus is a starving secretary and Susana says so is she.  Susana speaks highly of Jesus’ character and talent even though he is not wealthy.  Sebastian is adamant about Jesus not being the right type/social class of person for his daughter and Susana tells him than neither is she for him.  He shouldn’t judge Jesus without knowing him.  (What a double standard- Rogelio is a wealthy, lying, womanizer that is worth marrying his daughter.  Debt or not, wake up Sebastian.)  Susana shows Sebastian the door.

Jesus wants to clarify things with Elias about his relationship with Vero.  Jesus makes it clear that he loves Alma and doesn’t feel anything for Vero and hasn’t touched her.

Alma is trying to figure out why Paty is at Rogue’s house yelling.

Elias is not buying it and Jesus reminds him that Val needs a roof over her head and he would have done the same thing.  Jesus is totally in love with Alma. He sleeps in his room with the door locked and Vero sleeps with Val. (How many times does he have to say it?)  Alma confessed to Jesus that she loves him and Elias felt more secure.

Ferny wants to see Natasha and Julio is barring him from entering her dressing room.  Julio lets Ferny know that he is not working now; he is not his boss so he cannot order him around.  Ferny leaves and tells Natasha his name.
Elias realizes that Vero doesn’t love him.  Marisela is a young, immature cutie but she has problems.  Jesus knew about Panfilo being Marisela’s father but doesn’t like to gossip.  Elias has his faith back in Jesus and they shake hands. They part and Elias wants to call him Chucho again, they hug under the loving eyes of the Virgencita.

Julio loves Xochy and Natasha. Julio sees that Xochy is changing.  Ferny is hot for Natasha.  Xochy doesn’t get it.  Ferny is trying to ditch Alex. (What happened to light? Stay strong Ferny)

A distraught Alma decides to go home to confront Paty, the cell rings.

Gil (the wimp) tiptoes into his apartment to Begonia who has her suitcases packed.  Gil thinks that the suitcase is his.  Begonia tells him that it’s not his.  Gil and his toes are impactado!!!!

The phone call was from Sebastian, who can’t believe that Alma is still working and starts his crap about Jesus and Alma cuts him off.

Paty is cuddling a sleeping Rogue and telling him how much she loves him, he is the reason for her existence.  Bleeeck!!! The lights are out.

Ferny thinks that he has caught Natasha and comes upon Xochy and Julio.  They tell him that Natasha left through the VIP entrance.  Ferny starts questioning Xochy, as to why she is there, he didn’t see her in the audience and then he is asking questions about Natasha.  Xochy came with Julio because they are a couple and Julio can’t believe what he is hearing. Ferny thinks that Natasha is simply marvelous. Julio asks Xochy to be his girlfriend and Xochy is screeching happily that they deceived Ferny, they have to be careful and didn’t answer Julio.

Begonia is trying to explain to Gil that she is done with their marriage (She picks up the giant rolling pin and Gil jumps- hahaha!!) and that Gil will be happy without her.  Just two suitcases for all of those years of marriage?  Geez!!! It was a little sad.

Jesus checks on a sleeping Val and Vero and covers them up.

Alma is STILLL at the office!!!!!  Sebastian calls yet again. It’s 1 AM and he doesn’t want her in the streets alone at this time.  Alma will be okay.  She is staring at the paper angel, crying for Jesus. (Hello, we have cell phones, now; it’s not the 1950’s). We end the scene with Alma crying.

Vero awakes looking for Jesus, who is showering.  He is looking for his plaid shirt.  Finally, Alma calls Jesus.  She doesn’t answer while Vero, wearing Jesus’ plaid shirt disrobes.  She slips off the shirt and says that she is all his, while Alma is listening. He tells her to get dressed.  She can’t take anymore. (Listen, honey stop crying and at least throw something!!)  Jesus, now the Ice Prince, tells Vero again to get dressed.  He tries to continue the conversation but Alma has hung up.  He calls back and of course Alma will not answer.  Jesus asks his namesake why do humans complicate life?? The Ice Princess who was all hot, bothered and melted is still sitting in disbelief, sadness and embarrassment.
It’s the next morning and Alma didn’t knock Rogue’s door down!
Marisela and Chatita are talking about Elias and how he knows about Panfilo and he went to her house.  Chatita doesn’t understand what is Marisela’s problem. .  Chatita said that she is lucky that he still talks to her after she did nothing but lie to him. Marisela feels that Elias feels sorry for her, she is his project, asking a lot of questions and he doesn’t see her as a woman

Jesus is getting Val ready for school and Val notes that Jesus doesn’t look good.  He says tat he couldn’t sleep.  They have breakfast with Chatita.

Jesus calls Alma who is having breakfast with Sebastian and Sebastian starts talking about the Toluca trip and Jesus.  Alma lets Sebastian know that she didn’t’ sleep with Jesus. Sebastian insults Jesus and calls him a bumpkin and Alma says that Rogue is bigger bumpkin.  She says that he was kissing Jessica. Sebastian shrugs it off as Rogue having another lover. (What a two faced man)

Val introduces Ray to Jesus.  She tells Jesus that Vero doesn’t want him to play with her because he fights and is violent. Jesus laughs it off. Ray will play with Val after school.

Alma finally catches Paty on her cell. They have to talk.  Paty lies that she is at the gym finishing her routine.  They will meet in the office.  What a liar!!!  She lets Paty know that as my best friend you are never there when I need you.
Rogue thought bubbles to when Alma told him that she doesn’t love him.

Jesus has so much to tell Chatita.  He gives her the abridged edition. He and Alma declared for each other.  She broke up with Rogue and Vero came into his bedroom naked.  Chatita had the info all mixed up.  Chatita is super mega bola (confused), as Marisela would say.
Gil tells the 2 sillies that Begonia left him.  He is a free man!!!!! (Stupid- where’s your happy dance??)
Paty comes to the office (she needs to take her earrings off) Jessica is cornered by the secretaries to get gossip about Rogue’s marriage.  Jessica plays stupid.

Paty enters Alma’ office and Alma sits her down in front of the computer to watch the videotape that she sent.  (Paty is thinking of a lie.) Independent of Rogue kissing Jessica, why do I hear you yelling??  Paty turns the whole thing around and says how dare she kiss Jesus.  The fiancé of he best friend is kissing one of the employees, he was deceiving you.  I’m surprised at your reaction. PLeeeeeeeeaaaaazzzzzz!
She lies that she and Ferny suspected that something was going on with Jessica, because she was always in and out of his office and everyone knew what was going on.  Alma justifies the b.s. story with- now I understand why he promoted Jessica to an administrative secretary from the warehouse. Of course, Paty she was yelling to defend her friend.  If you knew this then why did you let me marry Rogue?? Paty couldn’t think of a quick lie.

Jessica shares that Paty is Rogue’s lover.  Jesus is not happy to hear the gossip!

Coming attractions:
Alma wants to know why did Paty send the video and not speak to her face to face.  You are supposed to be my friend??  Interesting, no tables have been flipped, very little drama??? Yawn!!!!

Good evening all!!
This should have been an explosive episode, instead it was a sleeper. I am so tired of Paty having nine lives. I will cheer loudly when her anvil falls but it doesn't seem to be anytime soon.
Thumbs up to Susana for speaking up to Sebastian.

TJ thanks for your recap and subbing for Cheryl. ITA w/you about Paty, I'm annoyed with her backstabbing ways, nine lives, and no self-respect.

The high points were Chucho & Elias being friends again and Susana kicking creepy/icky/lying hypocrite Sebastian to the curb.

The writers should be embarrassed; there should have been a significant blow up. Will Rog supposedly become the object of her rage?

TJ:

Thanks for this most marvelous recap and thanks for subbing for our very busy Cheryl.

I agree with what fishknits said yesterday in the comment section about Alma feeling betrayed by Jessie and Patymelt. I don't think it has to do much with jealousy about Rogue at all. She is just pithed, cause if she had known about this stuff, Jessie and possibly Patymelt, we know Patymelt was involved with Rogue all this time, but Alma doesn't, Alma would never had married Rogue. She just did it cause it was expected of her, by her two faced Papi. She is so angry over the betrayal and the sneakiness. I wonder if Jessie's job is in jeopardy?

I too can't believe Patymelt has gotten away with it again, but I just knew she would figure out some way of sending that tape and explaining her actions as far as Ferny being there. Now let's see if she can come up with a lie about why she didn't tell Alma before that wedding.

Vero will just not give up! Now what is she gonna do? I am so glad Chucho told her AGAIN, how it really is between them, and this time it should be loud and clear.

I'm glad Chucho and Elias have finally become bros again. I liked that bro hug too, it was way over due.

Wasn't Gil so funny with his holey socks? His toes were sticking out of them, so funny!

Like how Julio and Xochi fooled Ferny. Ferny is so NOT into Alex at all. But I noticed that Ferny is back to that stance and twirling his mustache. I wish he would stop that. Since Ferny claims to really be liking "Natasha" I wonder if he will come to her next performance?

All I can say is that it will take an awful lot of reformation for Sebastian to be even remotely good enough for Susana. What a pig!!!

The bromance is back on!!!

I haven't read the recap yet. I just want to say -- Doña Susanna, You go girl!

So Jésus you win one & you lose one. You got your bromance back -- but Alma is probably lost fo you for fifty episodes or so.

Güera

I so agree TJ--I was more annoyed at points than edge of seat "reveal excited". But you did a fantastic job in giving us all the snarky details.

I think I was happiest about Susanna showing Sebastian's sorry ass to the door. He is a scum bag, as his attitude hearing about Jessica showed. Can the writers just make him go away? he will NEVER deserve SusieQ.

Poor Julio. Should we all chip in and get him a copy of "She's just not that into you?" I'm not too worried about Ferny and the snidely whiplash antics...I think that's his indication of finally finding someone he is interested in. Ferny and Xochi---I can see it.

Alma is such an ugly crier. It's cute on Val, doesn't work for her. I felt sorry for her, but I don't know, was more irritated that we had to see her wailing over and over.

Bromance is alive and well---for now. And loved how they all came together for Val, until Vero went and tried to be all juarever again. I still don't trust her, she seems to be getting more and more desperate and stupid. What is she going to pull next. Chucho needs to throw her skinny butt out. Val can stay, let her get a job and her own place.

Daisynjay

Madelaine- I was wondering if Jessica would be fired too.
Party will lie her way tonight, she just couldn't think fast enough.

Tablet Jefa, thank you for your great recap. You didn't miss a thing!

I also loved how Susana got rid of Sebastian the "clasista".

Fishknits and Madelaine, I am with you about why Alma is so upset. Beside being angry with Rogelio and his lovers she also must be feeling quite angry and embarrassed with herself that she did not know what was going on in her own life. This is quite the reality check for Alma. Looks like she had less friends than the few she thought she had.

I like Blanca Soto and have enjoyed her ugly crying rage which for me adds some realism to the hair brained plot. I can't wait until Alma FINALLY gets all of the facts together and lets Paty and Rogelio really have it. It could be good. Better sooner than later--I hope.

Jarifa

Great recap, Table Jefa. Thanks for stepping up to fill in for Cheryl. You hit all the high points -- and shared in our combination of glee and frustration over the antics of almost everybody.

That Paty -- sure thinks fast on her feet. She'll probably come up with something tonight to explain why she let the marriage continue -- and why she sent the video now & not before.. There is NO excuse for this if she is Alma's BFF but I bet she finds one anyway.

I thought Paty was spot on in her analysis of why Alma married Rogue -- and why he should forget her and see who it is who really loves him.

I loved Chatita making fun of Marisela's way of talking.

Is Gil going to be happy with Begonia gone? Or is he going to miss her after all?

Xochi gets cuter and cuter -- Julio too.

Güera

Thanks, TJ!

I'm glad Fishknits clarified the perfectly logical reason for Alma to be upset - d'oh, she married Rogue for nothing!

So is Gil really happy that Begonia left him? He is putting on a brave front for the other Sillies, but he looked devastated when it happened. Or maybe it was just a blow to his ego to realize that she's as unhappy as he is.

How will Paty explain why she didn't tell Alma about the video BEFORE she got married? If I were Paty, I would say that Rogue threatened me or warned that I'd break Alma's heart. Alma would probably be inclined to believe that.

I think it's fine (if a little bit of a letdown) for Alma not to blow up immediately. She is still stunned and trying to figure out Paty's role in this. (Not to mention that horrible and ridiculous phone call to Chucho with Vero taking her clothes off.) I assume that once Alma thinks she has the story straight, she will go on a rampage. Or whatever is the mild-mannered equivalent of a rampage.

As for Vero: She looked so hurt when Chucho rejected her, I almost felt sorry for her. But then I remembered that he's already rejected her countless times. So I have to ask: WHAT was she thinking??

Thanks TJ, what a treat to have your recap on a Monday! I think you are spot-on with your opinion that this SHOULD have been an explosive episode. Oh well, a whimper instead of a bang, but it still had some great scenes which you so perfectly recounted.

I love that the bromance is back on. Those two actors have good chemistry and I would like to see them in more scenes together.

Go Sistah Susana!! Quite possibly my favorite scene.

That little Ray is adorable all spiffed up. I finally recognized where I'd seen the actor before...Abismo.

I also think Gil is putting up a brave front. The theme of not appreciating what you have until it's too late seems to be a running theme throughout this show. Ultimately I think Begonia's leaving will benefit her more than it will Don Gil.

Thanks, TJ! So kind of you to take over on short notice, and then you drew such a dorky episode -- but you made it fun.

Table-tipping, indeed -- or some good old-fashioned phone-throwing, at least. Destroy some scenery, people!

TJ, thanks for stepping in! Wish you'd gotten a more fun episode, but you made it more fun than it was.

Yay, Juicy and Hell-yes are back together. Maybe I can stop being irritated by Chef Hawt and enjoy oogling him again.

The best part for me was that SusieQ called Sebastard on his bullspit and threw him out. YAY, Sus!

I hope the writers let Alma's storyline settle down so she can return to serenely reading lines and smiling at people and quit "acting".

Vero is beyond pathetic. Also, I think her claim that she has no place to go is nonsense. If half of Eli's earnings are being withheld for support, surely she can afford to rent herself an apartment. And SHE was the one who demanded a divorce, so she should have a plan. Has she given a millisecond of thought to finding work and supporting herself? Of course not.

My two favorite actors on here are the ones playing Rogue and Paty. I think they are great. I love watching them work. :)

Okay, here's a dumb question, but is the character Ray a boy or a girl? I'm a little confused on that. Thanks!

Steve

Jarifa: "I like Blanca Soto and have enjoyed her ugly crying rage which for me adds some realism to the hair brained plot."--I think we're in the minority, but I agree.

Vero knows that Jesus is in love with Alma. I think she's just trying to get him back any way she can. As far as she knows, Jesus is available since the woman he loves is married. She doesn't know that Alma is in love with Jesus and that they've declared themselves to each other. I don't think that would stop her, though. I'm afraid she's about to get sneaky. Also, I think her plan after divorcing Elias was to marry Jesus. Too bad she didn't think to check with J first about his feelings.

Steve: I think Ray is a girl.

Alma may have a reason for her crying rage, but Blanca Soto DOES NOT know how to portray it. Throwing her head back, making her wide-open mouth into an ugly square and screeching like a banshee is not what the director's "now, cry with rage and feelings of betrayal" would look like in a good actress.

Nanette and Steve,

I too think that Ray is a girl. Chatita couldn't remember her story the other day, and was trying so hard to remember. Maybe Ray dresses as a boy as a defense mechanism against bullies or something. Those boys that Ray saved Val from were pretty mean.

Nanette, it is good to know there is at least one other Blanca Soto fan out there. Maybe more are hiding in the wings. :)

I also think that Ray is a girl. It will be interesting to find out what her issues are. It is also nice that Valentina have some playmates apart from her school.

Jarifa

Thank you Tablet Jefa!

I'll admit it...each time Alma threw her head back and bawled, I laughed. I laughed hard. It was the most amusing thing I saw yesterday. :)

I'm glad we have fun/silly Fer back. Even better that the object of his affection is Xochi. There are so many interesting possibilities for this, considering their past run-ins-- his crazy attraction to her when she put on Jess's pheromones perfume, and her teaching him painful lessons in the copy room and the secretary lobby area.

I am also happy that the bromance is back on. Yay!

I think Ray is a girl, too. That was my first impression when we first saw him/her, and I think that's probably the secret that Chatita can't remember. I wonder if it's a transgender case, or a defense mechanism. Probably the latter since Ray has a rough family history. I wonder who Ray is living with now.

Jarifa and Nanette:

I am a fan of Blanca's too. I never watched Eva Luna, but I did recap El Tal, and I have to say I have seen an improvement here. She looks much more relaxed, not so stiff and I know the crying was a bit over the top, but it was much worse in El Tal, just my own opinion. I think she has grown and will get more experience. This TN will help her I think. She is better at comedy than drama that's for sure.

Too funny Vivi!! I don't mind Blanca, but agree she's best when not asked to do anything too heavy or emotional. Then she just TRIES so hard, that it seems forced or, well, just doesn't work for me. But bless her, she tries.

I think the fact that Ray is a girl would make more sense to the plot point. And I think we will hear a sad back story for her when it comes. Can't quite figure out what her plot purpose could be, except to finally give that poor little Val a friend outside of school who doesn't wear antiseptic gloves.

Ok, the more I think about it, the more I am "shipping" Ferny and Xochi. But we need someone for Julio now. He turned out to be a nice guy, so he needs to get someone who appreciates his sense of silliness.

On Gil - I think he may be a bit stunned that Begonia is gone, but it does open the door to now hook up with his crush, the receptionist. That may be why he's so happy.

Daisynjay

How about Minerva for Julio? Meanwhile, since he seems to have decent Life Coaching skills, maybe he could work with Marisela on owning her history and making the most of her actual assets.

I'm glad they've given Julio more to do than be the obnoxious guy in the office. He's one of my favorite actors, and I knew he was capable of so much more.

OT:

I found a post by Sneaky Two Shoes on the Proximas page but Cachito de Cielo is finally going to air, replacing CCEA in daytime. It stars Pedro Fernandez, Matie Perroni and Manie de la Perra. I have been waiting for this comedy.

Ray is the same kid who played little Paloma in Abismo. Either that, or that little girl has a twin brother! I wonder if that's a wig or if they really had her cut off her long braids.

Julia- I too am happy that Ricardo M. (Julio) is finally getting a chance to shine a bit. He is such a talented comedic actor, who can also play tender/sweet very well. I hope they find someone good to pair him up with.

Ray may be a girl, but it seems that we are meant to assume Ray is a boy, because Valentina and Chatita are both using masculine pronouns.

In fact, I thought Ray introduced [hir]self as Valentina's "amigo," but maybe I'm remembering wrong and it was Val who referred to Ray as an amigo.

I'm sure it will all be explained soon enough...

I'm also on board with Fernando + Xochi, if Discua never comes back. That frees up Jessica for Cardenas, and Julio for Yvonne after Gilberto goes back to his wife begging her forgiveness (I think he's going to miss her rolling pin).

OK, I'm not so sure about Julio and Yvonne, but it's still early. I feel pretty confident about Gil and Begonia, though. And I believe Discua will come back. But even if she does, who's to say she'll end up with Fernando? Hmm, possibilities.

Maybe Ray will be a groundbreaking tn character-- a trans-gender child. Yes, everyone who meets hir (I love that), thinks she's a boy. And (s)he doesn't seem to mind.

Not so fast -- Julio & Xochi are made for each other. Fernando will end up with someone by the end because he's a good guy & a hurt puppy down deep. But Xochi is going to be a lesson for him in not judging books by their covers. Discua started to find his tender side & Xochi will blast away his shallow side. When he is a burnished gem someone will appear for him.

I think that is the message of this show -- classicism. Everybody is rejecting someone because they are not good enough. Think Sebastion, Barbara, Marisela, Fernando, Rogelio. Salvation for everyone is to begin to judge people for who they are, not for appearance or status. then Rogue can accept Paty as his true love; Barbara & Sebastian can accept the mates that were meant for their daughters; Marisela can see what gems she has in Ricardo & Panfilo and Fer can find true love somewhere -- but PLEASE with someone other than Xochi. She & Julio are just adorable.

Good point, Guera
All we need is Eva to appear- hahaha
I am on the Julio and Xochy camp they are cute together. They compliment each other. Ferry needs to continue to lstay in the light.

I didn't even make up "hir" - it's just one of many gender-neutral pronouns that have been proposed over the years, but it's the only one that I've ever seen anyone use.

Güera - it is amusing to think of Fernando as a burnished gem because he's such a mess now, but you're right - he does seem to be getting a good spin in the rock tumbler of life. But if not Xohci or Discua, then who?

How about Alejandra (is that her name, the "professional")? I don't think we're supposed to see her as a real prospect for him, but maybe she'll surprise us.

Flaco said it looked like Ray's hair was tucked into her shirt--so maybe those long braids weren't cut off.

I think Xochi is going to let her success go to her head a bit (understandable) and there will be some obstacles to her romance with Julio. I like both scenarios, though: Xochi with Fer and with Julio. If Fer is the one, we need someone for Julio.

Discua could be for Elias--except I think that he and Vero will end up together in the end. The break will cause them to grow (especially Vero).

I doubt Ray is transgender, she's probably just an orphaned girl who dresses as a tough guy to try to make it through life. I agree with the person who said this is probably what Chatita is trying to remember. Ray will probably be a good role model for Valentina; Ray is independent and is not afraid to stick up for what's right. I've often thought that Vero is NOT a very good role model for Val, for a princess yes, but for a real girl not so much.

I hope Flaco is right and Ray's braids are tucked away somewhere.

Yeah, I don't Televisa would go there too. But it would be cool!

Valentina now has three nicknames: Chucho calls her Princesa (annoying and cloying), Elias calls her Chaparita (cute), and Ray calls her Muñequita (less annoying than princesa). Does Vero call her anything (other than tool to grab, trap, or hold on to men)?

That's I doubt Televisa would go there.

I doubt it too. A transgender, especially a child, would be way too cutting edge and cool for Televisa.

"tool to grab...", Hahaha! Good one.b

Vero calls her "la nina," which doesn't seem very motherly to me.

Cap'n Sylvia, loved this, " I've often thought that Vero is NOT a very good role model for Val, for a princess yes, but for a real girl not so much."

Alma skipped the explode and went straight to the wailing. I'm remembering an avance from a while back where I swear I saw her slap Pato in the face. Where can it be?

I love Fernando's dedication to meeting Natasha!

And where did Ray/Rai come from? I'm excited about this new face. Also a little worried about Vero. She put it all in and may finally accept her loss, but not likely to lose with grace. ICK.

And, OH YEAH! to Susana!
That closer with Chucho looking at Jessica; was that because she confirmed his suspicions or what?

Fishknits - I think that, a while back, Paty had one of her little fantasies of telling Alma everything, and in that fantasy Alma slapped her in the face. But that was quite a while ago!
