Corazon Indomable, #41, Monday, 7/8/13 –Two Rather Long Conversations, One Rather Bumpy Flight, and the Baby in the Bump Suddenly Announces Its Impending Arrival!!!

Recap by LatinaInMD

Note:  Several scenes are combined.

Luciafer gleefully spills the beans to Miguel, except for one minor detail – who caused the fire.  Miguel is surprised MC is not a thief; Luciafer tells him MC did not have the intelligence to be a thief.  Miguel asks if she is also responsible for the fire that killed MC’s grandpa.  Luciafer denies it, saying she told him the rest because she wants him to know how she helped him.  Miguel says all his joy at their newfound prosperity is gone.  Now he won’t be able to look at their son without thinking about Maricruz, and it would have been best to have never known the truth.  (Yes, indeed, ignorance is bliss, but only for so long.)

Jose Antonio continues chatting with the police chief about his suspicion that Ewwsebio was in cahoots with Luciafer, but the police chief says suspicion isn’t enough.  He promises to continue investigating until he discovers the truth.  (We’re not holding our collective breath on that promise.)

MariAle tells Tobias with sadness that she had to keep her mouth shut because she realizes that Don Ale feels affection and sympathy for her, but he would not like to have her as his daughter.  She doesn’t know how to tell him the truth.  She also continues to blame Don Ale for not doing more to “rescue her” from her miserable life when her mother took her away….MariAle feels all is lost and that she will have to make her own life IN HER OWN WAY….MariAle also doesn’t want to be responsible for causing Don Ale’s death by telling him the truth.  Tobias tells her Don Ale wants to go to the island, but MariAle worries that could cost him his life and says they must stop him from doing it.  She also adds that she intends to return to the island and make her life there, because that is where she will carry out her vengeance, with or without her father’s help.  (In other words, vengeance comes first, way ahead of telling daddy the truth and spending the last days of his life at his side.  Our girl clearly has issues.)

Carola and Tony discuss Raiza’s trip to Mexico to see Don Ale.  Carola points out that if Raiza doesn’t convince Don Ale to sell, he will be convinced by the next payment of profits he receives.  She also says she still has “a hidden hand” – no hint of what that could be.  Then she orders Tony to inform her as soon as he hears of La Mendoza’s return to the island.

Raiza arrives at the mansion.  She waits in the foyer while Tobias goes to inform Don Ale that she is there to see him.  Raiza is surprised when she sees MariAle coming down the stairs – but she doesn’t show the slightest hint of suspicion that MariAle is pregnant, despite the baby bump being SIGNIFICANTLY bigger than when they left Isla Dorada and flew to Mexico….Raiza asks MariAle what she is doing there.  MariAle informs her that she lives there because she is Don Ale’s daughter, even if she and her sister don’t want to believe it.  Not caring why Raiza is there, MariAle tells her she is going shopping and leaves….Tobias comes down and tells Raiza that Don Ale awaits her.  Raiza heads up and greets Don Ale affectionately, asking how he is doing.  He tells her she can see for herself that he is practically an invalid.  She responds:  “An invalid who has a very beautiful woman for company.”….. Don Ale asks:  “Is that what you think?”  “That’s what I saw,” responds Raiza.  He tells her to believe whatever her imagination considers most romantic.  She says she now understands many things, like why MariAle wants to govern over the casino.  “And to not allow Carola to steal from me,” counters Don Ale.  Raiza says she thinks MariAle expects to have more, and Don Ale says that is human and practical.  Raiza then tells him she is there to advise him to sell the Isla Dorada casino, or he will end up losing it “in the most lamentable way.”  As if justifying Carola’s malfeasance, she points out ANYONE would steal from him if he is not there to attend to his business.  (So she pretty much admitted her sister is a thief!!)  He says it’s curious that the same thing is not happening in his other casinos.  But he agrees that he needs to sell the Isla Dorada casino, precisely because Carola is involved in it…..Raiza tells Don Ale selling is the most sensible thing, and Carola will pay a sensible price.  Don Ale informs her that it won’t be so easy for Carola.  He plans to go to the island and sell the casino to the highest bidder, and if Carola wants it, then she’ll have to match another buyer’s best offer.  Raiza reminds him he has to think first about his health and he can’t travel in that condition to the island.  He says he has to do it, and it is Carola’s fault because his protégé says the casino is doing well. Raiza then tries to tarnish MariAle’s image, telling Don Ale that she behaves like a slut, distracts clients, and demoralizes them.  She tells him they hadn’t wanted to tell him anything because they could tell he had much trust in her.  “Unlimited trust,” says Don Ale.  Raiza then asks him point blank what MariAle means to him.

Octavio is back at the pension, asking Doña Serafina to find out for him where MC 2.0 lives….Serafina tells him it’s not easy for her.  He insists, but she says she just can’t do it.  He tells her he thinks she knows where MC 2.0 is but just doesn’t want to tell him.  He then asks her to please find out where she is, and she promises to try.  (Sorry, I have to say this galan has NO brain cells left at this point, at least not fully-functioning ones.  If he believes she already knows and she is lying, then why ask her still to find out for him?  Big dummy!!!)….Alone in his room, Octavio tells himself that if he finds the first MC, perhaps he can find the other one (…huh???...) and that would give him “a good opportunity to apologize to her.”  (Again, no brain cells left.)

Out on the patio, Miguel recalls Luciafer telling him how MC stuck her face in the mud.  He asks himself if Lucia was capable of that, then what else could she be capable of?  He heads to the stables and asks eternally-drunk Ewwsebio what he knows of the fire that killed MC’s grandpa….Ewwsebio assures Miguel he knows nothing about the fire.  Miguel asks if it was set intentionally, to which Ewwsebio responds with another question:  “What do you suspect?”  Miguel says he suspects nothing and leaves.  Ewwsebio is not the least bit concerned.

Don Ale tells Raiza that MariAle “distracts” him.  She asks how, and he responds that in whatever way she wants to imagine.  (Tssk, tssk, Don Ale, adding to the bad image Raiza already has of MariAle.  Then again, who cares what Raiza thinks.)  Raiza asks if she distracts him, then why send her to the island, wouldn’t it be best for her to remain at his side?  Playing along, Don Ale asks Raiza suggestively if she doesn’t think it would be best for him if MariAle only came to him sporadically.  Raiza appears slightly distressed that he could have gotten “entangled with a woman of that level”, when he could have aspired to a woman who would love him, practically pointing at herself.  He says he can aspire to nothing, as she should be able to see that he is worn out.  She asks if MariAle lives there and he tells her that for the moment she does.  Raiza insists that he not allow “that girl” to return to the island….Don Ale says he can’t prevent MariAle from returning to the island, and perhaps he doesn’t want to prevent it, since she is defending his interests.  Raiza then asks why he allows MariAle to say that she is his daughter.  “Maybe she feels that way, like a daughter.  That is the way I treat her, and not the way you think.  And I’m sorry Raiza, but she will do whatever she thinks is best.  She will return to Isla Dorada at the very moment she decides to do it.”  (Good to know Don Ale understands MariAle’s intentions so well, so nothing should surprise him.)….. Raiza insists that Don Ale not allow MariAle to continue pretending to be his daughter.  She says the last straw would be for him to tell her that he is going to name HER his heiress.  He says no, his daughter will be his only heiress, whether or not she turns up.  Thankfully, Don Ale finally puts an end to the seemingly endless conversation, telling Raiza he is exhausted (so are we, Don Ale, so are we!!!) and it’s been enough for today.  Raiza tells him she will return to see him the next morning before she departs for the island, and pretending she is Svengali she adds:  “…and you will tell me that you will sell the casino to Carola, and you will tell me that you feel better.”  (In your dreams, Raiza, and in Viewerville’s nightmares.  Another conversation like this is more than we could bear.)

That was one MIGHTY LONG conversation between Don Ale and Raiza, so long that MariAle has returned home from shopping and is back in the foyer, in the midst of dealing with some pregnancy pains – (boy, do I remember those pains, and I never spent days on end standing on five-inch stilettos like she does).  Solita’s lab results are hand-delivered to the house (talk about concierge service!!) and Tobias receives them and immediately hands them over to MariAle.  After a quick scan, a very worried MariAle informs Tobias that Solita’s pregnancy is high-risk, that she needs much care, and that on top of the risk that the baby may not be born or born with problems, there’s the risk that Solita could die.  (Now she can interpret lab results too?  Wow!!!  SuperMari never ceases to amaze!!  Doesn’t a doctor normally inform a patient when labs reveal bad news?!)

MariAle sees Raiza coming down the stairs and tells her she thought she had already left.  Raiza says no, in fact, she plans to return the next day.  MariAle tells her to forget about returning the next day.  She then orders her to return to the island and inform her adored sister that HER FATHER Alejandro Mendoza “is not selling the casino to anyone, not to her and not to anyone else!!”…..Don Ale’s bedroom must be FAR away from the foyer, because these two are now practically screaming at each other, without the least bit concern about who might hear them.  Raiza yells that MariAle is no one in that house and has no right to treat her that way.  MariAle repeats that she is Don Ale’s lost daughter, but Raiza says it’s not true because Don Ale just told her she is not his daughter, he only treats her like one.  MariAle tells Raiza she hasn’t told him the truth because of his illness, but one day she will believe it because she can prove it’s true.  She points out that’s why she dares to defy Carola, adding:  “Whether my father is alive or dead, THAT CASINO IS MINE.”  She then promises she will return soon to the island, adding:  “I will annihilate Carola….and her accomplices.”  (Subtle, isn’t she?!)  Raiza suggests she is offended by MariAle’s insinuation that she is Carola’s accomplice, pointing out that she has always been Alejandro’s friend.  MariAle retorts that Raiza’s only friend is money, so much so that she will betray others for it.  Raiza says it’s Alejandro’s fault that she wasn’t loyal to him, since he always rejected her as a love interest.  (Cry us a river, Raiza.)  Clearly unmoved, MariAle tells her “your ways are your ways, and no one is ever going to change you.”  Then she reminds Raiza that she is NEVER going to bother her father again, and she proceeds to push her practically all the way out the door.

Jose Antonio tells Santa that the police chief wants him to do his job for him to watch Ewwsebio and to make him confess everything he knows.  Santa says the police chief should do his own job, suggesting he should just lock up Ewwsebio and keep him on bread and water only for three days, “after which he will confess even what he doesn’t know” – (I would suggest also leaving an open bottle of alcohol just a little past his reach, for added torture.)  Jose Antonio says that’s illegal, but Santa rightly points out that hasn’t stopped the police before, like when they locked up Maricruz despite her being innocent.  Santa asks Jose Antonio if he thinks he can make Ewwsebio talk, and Jose Antonio says that he is “capable of doing everything” for Maricruz.

Raiza returns quickly to the island and informs Carola that her visit with Alejandro was a total failure.  Carola asks why.  “Because La Mendoza has a lot of power over him.  He seems to trust in her more than in himself.”  Carola says now she is sure they are lovers.  Raiza tells her that though she still has doubts, she thinks that MariAle really is his daughter.  Carola wonders if Alejandro purposely lied to her about his relationship with MariAle, but Raiza tells her he didn’t lie, he just doesn’t know the truth yet.

The next morning, Tobias brings Alejandro his medicine and informs him that Maricruz is in her room, worried because they received Solita’s lab results and found out she has a high-risk pregnancy.  Don Ale says that’s greater reason why Maricruz should stay in Mexico.  He also tells Tobias to excuse him with Raiza if she returns as she said she would, adding:  “Tobias, Tobias, the vultures are flying over the carrion (carroña).”  Tobias asks:  “You are not saying it because of Señora Maricruz?”  “No, of course not, she is still saved by her innocence.  She doesn’t know how to be a vulture, although Raiza has already been telling me…..”  “What did she tell you?”  “That her presence in the casino is inconvenient, that she behaves there like….like a slut.”

Miguel rides through his land again, thinking of all he had to do to save it.  He tells himself that if it weren’t for what Lucia did, he would enjoy this wonderful moment, which now tastes bitter because of the remorse he feels.  He wonders if he could do something for Maricruz, if he could look for her and find her in Mexico.

MariAle goes to Don Ale and tells him she needs to speak with him.  She tells him that she obeyed him when he demanded that she return, but now she is there to demand that he not go to Isla Dorada.  He says he has to go.  She begs him not to go, for his good, her good, and the good of the casino.  He says he intends to liquidate that matter because he doesn’t want to leave any entanglements when he dies.  She tries to insist, but he interrupts her and says that SHE is the one who will not return, and it was madness to let her go there before.  He says he will no longer argue.  He reminds her that she, her sister and their babies will have a home and his protection in that house until his daughter turns up.  MariAle replies somewhat bitterly:  “Yes, and when your daughter turns up…Maricruz, Solita and the kids will be out on the street, right?”  (Now, why argue with your dying father over something you know will NEVER happen, since you are that daughter?  Silly writers.)  Don Ale assures her he will make sure they have what they need, including a good job for her.  She tells him she already has a job, and it’s on Isla Dorada in the casino.  “A job in which you are degrading yourself?!” he asks, or rather asserts.  She assures him only a woman who wants to degrade herself does it, there and anywhere else, adding:  “You believed what Raiza told you, didn’t you?”  “It’s not your fault, Maricruz.  Another woman in your place would have done the same thing.”  A disappointed MariAle asks:  “What do you think your daughter would have done?”  (Excuse me, child, are you trying to kill your father now?!  Geez, what a loaded question.)…. Don Ale says, forgive me, but I am sure that MY daughter would not have gone to that place.  “You are sure?” she asks.  He continues:  “I let you go because you told me you WERE a married woman, so you said.”  (Is he doubting her now?)  “No, no” responds Mari Ale.  “I AM married….to a jerk, but married.  My child has a father….a scoundrel, but legitimate.” He tells her fine, don’t get angry, and she says she isn’t, she is just telling him how things are.  (I would say she was a teensy-weensy angry, even if she denied it!!)  He says he feels her gratitude deeply and understands her good intentions.  He recognizes that she opened his eyes about Carola Canseco, that thanks to her they put a stop to her.  But he cannot allow her to hurt herself to favor him.  She gets down on her knees and begs him to give her the power of attorney she already asked him for.  He says he’s sorry, but he’s not going to give it to her.  “Never, I could never do it.”

Carola tells Raiza she almost couldn’t sleep thinking of what she told her, that La Mendoza could actually be Alejandro’s daughter.  Raiza says she had to believe it, after the way she saw her act in that house, so sure of herself, like the owner and lady of the manor.  Carola doesn’t understand what gives MariAle the power to give orders if Alejandro still doesn’t know the truth.  Raiza suggests they should continue making MariAle’s life more difficult there if she returns, but Carola notes THAT WOMAN has the “character of the devil” and can put up with anything.  (If nothing else, Carola is perceptive, isn’t she?!)  Nevertheless, she says she intends to have the casino all to herself, no matter what it costs her.

Miguel is again riding over his land.  (Is that what he considers work?  It seems to be all he does.)  He tells himself he cannot stand Lucia.  He knows she acted “thinking about everyone’s well-being” (Everyone’s well-being, Miguel?  Tell that to abuelito.)  He tells himself if she had told him what she planned to do, he wouldn’t have allowed it, but even worse is that she organized it behind his back, hid it from him.  He remembers that Maricruz was also going to have a child, his brother’s child, his own blood.  He wonders again what he could do to find Maricruz.  He says both he and Lucia, especially Lucia, will need her forgiveness.

MariAle goes downstairs and informs Tobias that she couldn’t convince her father.  He will not give her the power of attorney, and he is going to go to Isla Dorada.  He tells her at least he already convinced him to delay the trip until the following week.  She doesn’t see what they gain from that.  (Gee, I don’t know, maybe that he’ll live a week longer?)  She is sure that Raiza is back on the island, and that by now Carola is taking all sorts of precautions so she can take over the casino.  She says she has to prevent it, so she will return to the island before her father goes there, even if he has other plans for her.  “I have to prevent Carola Canseco from ruining everything.  I’m going, Tobias.  And from there I am going to send an email to my father telling him the whole truth, that I am his daughter.”…..(Cut to Ewwsebio pretending to work, and speculating that if Miguel does suspect something and finds out the truth, it’s just as well, since Miguel also hurt Maricruz and bears some of the guilt for what happened.)…..MariAle tells Tobias that an email is colder, so it would have less impact than words coming out of her own mouth.  They could have the power of attorney ready, and once her father reads the email and “gets over the emotion”  from the news, then Tobias can give him the POA to sign and then send it to her.  (Oh, sure, that’ll lessen the impact – go far away, put yourself in what your father considers a dangerous lion’s den for you, and only then tell him in writing that you are his daughter.  Brilliant!!)  She says she has no choice:  “My father has no one else but me to defend him.  And I have no one else but him to love me….He is my father, Tobias, and I will turn into a wild beast to defend him.”  (To defend him, or to defend the casino as the intended means to her vengeance?)  She repeats that she will return to the island and begs Tobias to continue caring for Solita in her absence.  He tells her not to worry about her sister, as she will be well taken care of until she returns.

The next morning, MariAle explains to Solita that she has to leave again.  (Oddly, she reverts to MC’s peasant accent and dialogue when speaking with Solita, as if her sister could hear her.)  Solita is very sad about the news, but MariAle tells her not to be sad or worried, because Tobias and the doctor will take good care of her.  As Moctavio grabs on to her arm and then her hair, MariAle promises Solita that she will return or send for her, and that they will always be together because they are sisters who love each other very much.  She promises their children will unite them even more.  The two embrace, as Moctavio tries feebly to be part of the touching moment.

Moments later, we see a VERY pregnant-looking (but still very stylish) MariAle arriving at the airport….

Tobias enters Don Ale’s room with his breakfast and they bid each other good morning.  Don Ale tells Tobias he is feeling much better and was planning to go down to breakfast.  He asks Tobias if Maricruz is already up.  Tobias says yes, and Don Ale figures she already had breakfast, so he will just have his meal there in the room.  He reminds Tobias that the following week he will go deal with the casino, and he asks him to please tell Maricruz that he wants to speak with her…..Tobias freezes and Don Ale asks what’s wrong, if he is going to get Maricruz.  Tobias breaks the news to him that early that morning Maricruz returned to Isla Dorada.

Meanwhile, Miguel is loading a saddle onto his jeep when a VERY drunk Ewwsebio shows up laughing diabolically.  Miguel goes up to him and tells him it’s obvious that he has been drinking – if not by his manner of walking, then by the stench of alcohol on him.  Miguel tells him he doesn’t like him getting drunk, and Ewwsebio responds that Miguel has no power over him, he can’t give him orders, so if he wants to drink, then he will drink.  He then openly challenges Miguel, asking if he thinks he can fire him, just like that.  Miguel says of course he can do it.  Ewwsebio tells him:  “Well, you can’t, Don Miguel.  And you know why?  Because I know many things about all of you, the Narvaez family.”….Miguel grabs him by the collar and demands that he tell him what he is talking about.  “You better let me go, boss, and leave me alone.  Because if I feel like talking, you would come out of it very discredited.”  Miguel pushes him and tells him that he is not about to threaten him and that he is fired.  He tries to force him off his lands, but Ewwsebio declares:  “The Narvaez family is mistaken about me.  You can’t burn me alive the way that was done with the grandfather of that trash Maricruz.”….Ewwsebio continues that they are not going to lock him up like they locked up that trash Maricruz, nor will they do to him everything that was done to her to throw her off the ranch.  “What are you saying?” asks Miguel.  “What the whole world knows, boss.  That the Narvaez family are a bunch of criminals.”  Miguel knocks him to the ground and begins to strangle him, but sadly Jose Antonio arrives just in time to pull Miguel off of Ewwsebio, thus preventing that anvil from coming down on the scumbag.

Don Ale asks Tobias if he knew that Maricruz was going to go back to the island and when he admits it Don Ale asks him why he didn’t tell him about it.  Don Ale says he never thought Maricruz would disobey him that way.  (What happened to him knowing that she would do whatever she wanted to do?)  Tobias assures him she will send him an email explaining to him the reason she left.  Don Ale says the reason is “that environment that has swallowed her up.”  He adds that soon she will be just another woman like Raiza and Carola, “going from arms to arms, until in the end she will want desperately to find a man and a home to stabilize her life.  And all that with a child.”  Tobias thought bubbles:  “Lord, if he only knew.”

Now we see a plane flying in stormy weather.  Octavio and Eduardo discuss what procedures they will follow to stabilize the plane.  Ed worries that the passengers will be alarmed, but Octavio insists that it’s not that big of a deal.  (So reassuring to see the two pilots on the same page during a critical moment.  Not!!!)….Later, one of the flight attendants informs the two pilots that a pregnant passenger is very scared and does not look well at all.  Octavio tells her to move her to another seat….(Move a pregnant woman in a plane during a turbulent flight??!!….Good Lord, the idiocy of this galan is mind-boggling!!!)…Cut to MariAle breathing as if she is IN LABOR!!!  The flight attendant comes and moves her to another seat, away from the windows.  She then tells her she will call one of the pilots to come attend to her!!  (What?!  Isn’t that what flight attendants are for?  So now only one idiot pilot, instead of two, will fly the plane during a moment of distress.  Brilliant!!!)  Thankfully, MariAle passes out and this prompts the flight attendant to finally ask out loud if a doctor is on board that plane.

Previews:  Didn’t see them, but it’s obvious that a little bundle of joy is finally arriving on Tuesday.  Any final guesses….boy or girl?  Suggested names, anyone?

Great job LatinaInMD!

MC has some really screwed up priorities. Let's see, she is weeks/days away from giving birth to her first CHILD; her long lost father is on the verge of DEATH; and her sister has a high risk pregnancy and could DIE. Yet, MC's priority is to rush back to poke her finger in the eyes of two old harpies, in just ONE of MANY of her father's properties/businesses! I'm glad Don Ale mentioned all his other casinos because I was starting to think I imagined that he had once spoken about all his other casinos. It makes no sense to waste so much time, effort, and health on one casino.

I find the lack of follow-up and concern over the traumatized younger sister puzzling. You find out your younger sister has been raped, doesn't that kind of take precedence over all else you got going on? I don't think the character has ever been integrated into the story very well, and for her plot strand to be put on hold feels emotionally false to me. As a whole, I find the action on this novela too diffuse.

@Vivi - As I mentioned in my side comments, I think MariAle's priority is her thirst for vengeance, not the casino in and of itself. She believes the casino is the perfect means to her vengeance, since it's in that casino that she frequently gets to interact with Octavio, the object of her vengeance. "Vengeance" colors her entire worldview, and blinds her to everything else. That's why I think the first Mexican version was aptly named "La Venganza".

Excellent recap, LatinaInMD. Things are getting a little strange here.

"Miguel is again riding over his land. (Is that what he considers work? It seems to be all he does.)"
He's still not trying to harvest any oranges, since the trees are still loaded or have a new crop.

Maybe MA thinks it's more entertaining to fight the harpies and save a casino than care for your ailing sister and keep a deathbed watch on your father.

I see no purpose for Octavio to fly through the storm, except to up the drama factor. Pity he doesn't know that's his child on the verge of birth.

Maybe Miguel can help his brother find Maricruz. Now that would be a team of detectives.

RG- You're so right that the way the writers (and MC) pick up and then drop the story of Solita is poorly done. This is a VERY serious plot point- the brutal rape of a defenseless girl/sister of the protagonist. That, (along with her grandfather's murder) should be the motor of MC's revenge. It's been a fun distraction for MC to sharpen her claws on the Conseco sisters, but it should only be practice for getting to the bottom of what happened to her sister and grandfather and getting revenge for that.

I think the writers might be working up to that, but they are doing a poor job of showing that this is part of MC's long-term plan. She's too focused on Octavio's cowardly behavior, and Lucia's neacklace trap. Solita and Ramiro are way more serious, and I wish they would show MC trying harder to figure out what happened to them.

These should be MC's priorities and areas of focus in decending order:
1) Caring for Solita's high risk pregnancy, while learning enough sign language to find out who raped her.
2) Caring for her own pregnancy.
3) Spending time with her father and trying to find the best way to tell him the truth.
4) Finding out what exactly happened to her grandfather and who was responsible.
5) Clearing her name in Tamaulipas and making sure those who committed crimes (not just being stupid like Tav) against her and her family pay.
6) Getting Karim to buy the casino at a HUGE price-- thereby sticking it to the Conseco sisters and making a big profit for herself and her father.
7) Driving Tav crazy whenever she sees him; but also revealing sooner, rather than later, who she is and that they share a child.

Latina- I would understand her more if she was spending her time in Tamaulipas trying to bring Lucia down. It's not even like she sees Tav that much on the island. She got him to lose some money at the casino once. Since then her vengeance against him has consisted of verbal put downs. Very good put downs, but nothing earth shattering for Tav.

She is spending all her time battling the Conseco sisters and trying to run Aracely's life. These people had nothing to do with all the crap that happened to her in Tamaulipas.

LatinaInMD--Another fine job! Thank you. The final paragraph and asides about the on-crack crew and pilots are brilliant.

IRT Solita-she feels like "insurance." The writers have her there should an extension be needed.

I guess I should go watch the episode now. ;-)

Solita got the short end of the stick of life, didn't she? She may have been better off in an orphanage. At least there she may have learned what child birth is. Or was Tobi able to explain that too, since he's the only one who seems to have bothered learning much sign language. (This might have been a good place for a psa on the deaf community).

But at least she's not on the airplane with a couple pilots upset about a little storm. Every time I complain about turbulence and weather to my dad, a pilot, I get very little sympathy. Supposedly planes can fly through just about anything, but it helps to not be on the verge of childbirth. Isn't there a rule about this? And even if these particular pilots are dumb enough to leave the cockpit (because don't all pilots know all about birthin' babies), there is for sure a rule about keeping the cockpit secure. You know, in case the pregnant lady is faking and is really an evil doer. End rant.

But really, couldn't the writers at least TRY? Or are they saving their energy for the real venganza part?

I'm trying to forgive MC for her bad decisions since she is only 19 and may not be all that familiar with childbirth herself, but she couldn't have squeezed in a parenting class in between algebra and Excel?

Kelly

Thanks for the recap LatinaInMD. ITA w/your running assessment of MC's bad priorities. Great list Vivi!! If only she would follow your advice.

RG - perceptive call on how Solita hasn't been integrated into the plot b/c it makes no sense that MC would abandon her now.

La Paloma - you are too funny - detectives Dumb and Dumber.

Sara - I wish the writers had developed a better extension than Solita and the wretched rape plot.

Kelly - thanks for reminding me how young MC is.

Thanks, Latina in MD. I agree with all the comments. Mari should be thinking of her own baby, Solita, and Don Ale. This whole "I must get the casino away from Carola"MAKES NO SENSE. Who cares?

However, a bright spot for me was Eww getting beaten up.

I am losing interest in all these people, and I do not like Mari or Oblivio, the two leads. I do like Solita, Don Ale, and Tobias, but we do not get to see them much.

Argh. I so want to give my opinion on each of the specific issues raised by everyone, but unfortunately I can't address them directly. I have watched every single episode of the Mexican broadcast, so I have to bite my tongue and keep my opinions on specific issues to myself, lest I say anything that could be perceived as a spoiler. There is one thing though - I think it is safe for me to state my GENERAL opinion, based on the 41 episodes we have already seen on Univision, that the psychological issues of each and every one of the main characters (especially the two protagonists) are themselves the main drivers of the story. It's primarily those psychological issues that determine what "actions" will occur to move along the plot, far more so than any rational decisionmaking by each character.

Also, while I recognize that MC/MA doesn't have her priorities straight (as I noted in my side comments), I didn't mean to suggest that I would have preferred a more action-packed plot. Personally, I find the psychological issues fascinating, and far more interesting than an action-packed plot. If I want action, I'll just watch a movie with wars, guns, superheroes, etc. Of course, I'm just stating my personal preference, but it explains why I absolutely LOVE watching this novela, even the second-time around.

LatinaInMD:

Thanks for this most marvelous recap! Really liked your side comments.

I too can't figure out why the pilot has to come out to offer assistance to a pregnant MC/MA. I thought stewardesses handled these types of emergencies, lol. Anyhoo, I hope Tav has to come out there, lets see how many brain cells he has left, just a thought ; )

Vivi:

I really liked your list of priorities, but as Kelly said, MC/MA is only nineteen. I think she wants Don Ale to be proud of her and that's the reason for the rush to the casino. I wish she had listened to him and stayed in the DF.

What is up with Tav and his bugging of the landlady again! He needs to get a brain cell transplant or put his thinking cap on and figure it out. I really thought he would do a follow that cab schtick when they got off of the plane in the D.F., but nah, no recharge of brain cells for him.

I am glad that Miguel now knows the truth, and I think deep down he really suspects that Luciafer had something to do with that fire. Why go after Ewwwsebio? I am glad he beat the crap out of him, but I don't want him killing him, unless it is justified. I want ewww to rot in prison foreva!

I can't wait for tomorrow to see if there is a doctor on that plane or if Tav or Ed will have some birthin' babies training.

Kelly:

You are not supposed to fly if you are eight months pregnant. You have to have a special note from your doctor saying it is safe for you to fly.

Vivi, you hit the nail on the head in your first comment and then with the list of things MC should prioritize!
The fact that MC looks more worried about winning a face off with Carola than her child's safety made me cringe when she was on the island and Tony or some other goon tried to harm her in order to get her out of there. Not once have I heard her express any concern for her unborn baby, she kept yapping all day long about Octavio having to pay for what he's done.

YES, she should care more about her dying father or her sick sister (btw, Solita is a new character, not included in the original, that is why I think her sl is so poorly inserted in the main plot).

LatinaMD, I agree with you that MC cares more about her revenge and she knows the island is the place where she can have Octavio at her disposal - maybe that is why she obsseses so much about this.

When this tn first started we kept waiting for the plot to move to the city and improve - so far I haven't seen much of that, other than the fact that MC wears nice dresses and five inch heels. The contrivances are still to much to take sometimes (a pilot delivering a baby while the plane is about to crash? really); the characters are mostly caricatures, with the heroine being mildly interesting just thanks to AB's talent and the hero being a complete idiot/ jerk.
I know beanies are always required when watching a tn, but we should still have some plausible interactions, right?

And to top it all, Corazon Indomable is number one in Mexico, with a rating of more than 25% - I don't think this is because the story will get better in time, we already thought that when it first started - some days are better than others, but mostly it's the same old, same old.

So why do I still watch, then? Because CI might be a hot mess, but the team of recappers and commenters keep the show alive and interesting for me. So, thanks God for you!
Oh, and btw, that was one great recap, LatinaMD! The effort you make in trying to keep the board spoiler free is truly to be admired!

Vivi, you did a brilliant job with last night's beanie-fest. It was a job trying not to get worked up over some of the happenings. As already pointed out so well by everyone, logical behavior just doesn't seem to apply here, especially with MC.

I try to cut her some slack knowing she is young and basically been thrown into an entirely different life and world than she had known. And most of it has been nothing but betrayals and intrigues. But boy, sometimes it's hard to listen to her and her priorities. I get the whole vengeance is mine attitude, but her taking it to such a level doesn't exactly make her endearing. TO me, there is NO good reason left for not telling Don Ale MC is his daughter. And sending an email is better for him?? I can't even....

And more and more I feel like Solita is being treated as a plot device only. I agree, sending such important findings via a letter, with no doctor visit to talk about issues and what to do, etc. was so lame.

As for Miguel, bit worried about the guy. Now that he seems to be the one brother who has some brain cells working, what will Luciafer do? Since she has one foot firmly planted in Looneyville, would she try to "deal" with her own hubby the way she dealt with MC and family? She's got the heir, so he may be expendable in her way of thinking.

Can Ewwwwsssebio just die now? Like to see someone else crack that whip at him --right around his throat.

And another good reason to stay away from that airline, poorly trained stewards. Please dear lord, have a doctor on board. The thought of Ed delivering the baby...

Daisynjay

When I read these comments I always realize what a gullible, accepting dullard I am. Lol. Yes I sort of felt like Solita was an afterthought, but MC/MA's screwed up priorities never clicked. Thanks for the list, Vivi!

I guess I'm easily distracted by pretty dresses. :)

Daisy- The brilliant recap was courtesy of Latina. I just provided the complaints.:)

Yes, teaching someone sign language in order to communicate seems a waste when they don't actually communicate that I was raped by Ewwwweee Bus and he set fire to our shack and killed aubelo.

Think poor hunch back is gonna be in for some baby sittin jobs since he is the only one trusted on Isla de boredom.

Endless arguments about "power of attorney" and returning to the casino isn't going to cause Don Ale an infarcta but somehow saying look in the box will kill him.

Will the Sheik shriek at the bebe bump or is Oblivion gonna help MC birth Ob-JR? Bebe on a plane. Bebe on a plane.

And, will the Rasins find out and plot to steal "the box."

Great recap and comments.

LatinaIn MD,

thanks so much for this excellent recap. You manage to integrate the liberal use of dialogue with your narrative so very well and your clever asides are such a treat.

So an early birth on a plane? I wonder if Octavio will hear the call of the blood when he holds the newborn? Babies born 6 to 8 weeks early often have respiratory problems so let's hope that's not the case here.

So don Alejandro is willing to believe that a pregnant Maricruz has been behaving like a slut at Isla Dorada? Por favor.

So Solita has a high risk pregnancy and it'll be OK 'cause Tobias is going look after her? Ummmm...OK.

Carlos

Thank You Latina! Loved the side commants and that's a great list Vivi.

ITA with everyone on Mc's priorities.

She's too tangled up in this whole venganza thing she can't get her priorities straight.
She's also right about what she told Tobias that it's Don Ale's falut (not entirely but has a great part) that she is who she is, maybe deep down she holds a grudge.

The whole giving birth on a plane is a serious beaine tightening moment for me.
As I know you cannot get on a plane over 7 months pregnant, precisely in order to avoid such incidents.
Are pilots trined to handle these situations themselves like a cop would?

LatinaMD:

So sorry, I didn't notice that you had done the recap. Me bad. It was wonderful!!

I think we should take a moment and feel bad for the poor guy they plopped MC down next to. Loved that look on his face--think he'll be flying those friendly skies with that airline again?

Daisynjay

A big thank you Latina in MD. I was on the edge of my seat for most of last night but could not understand a lot of it---Your recap has it all. Thank you again.

Victoria L---I'm glad that you are enjoying Corazon Indomable as much as I am. Yes, the revenge---I can't wait but I am also waiting for a happy ending. Oh! Did I say that? I don't want it to end. No, No, No, don't end.

Vivi---You never cease to amaze me.
I could never be a detective. Yes,
maybe defeating the Conseco sisters is but a warm up for her to get to the truth about Solita and her Grandfather.

Vivi---Your list of priorities is spot on but what you didn't see is that Maricruz is superwoman. She's
going to accomplish much. Have patience, she'll get the job done.
Hasn't everyone of us looked back on our lives and thought that I should have done something another way--if I could do it over again---
Mari is not perfect but she is going to get the job done. Mari, a 19 year old superwoman, I can't wait for her to kick into high gear.

Latina---I agree, the psychological issues are fascinating but i think that there is going to be some action also. Just a guess.

Daisynjay---EWWW-sebio with the whip around his neck. LOL

Madelaine---You can't fly if you are eight months pregnant without a doctors note---is that a Mexican law or just here in the U.S.?

Kelly---ITA She wants her father to be proud of her but she also wants to protect his interests from those who are stealing from him.-----Couldn't she have squeezed in a parenting class in between algebra and excell? So funny. Well she almost does it all.

I'm concerned as to what plans she has for Karim. I'm sure that he is going to be right in the middle of things. Mari is superwoman but can she handle/out smart him?

La Paloma---A team of detectives--
Miguel y Octavio. QUE? LOL
the gringo

Thanks for the recap!

Poor Solita has turned into the whipping girl for the writers. "We need more suffering, so let's hurt the deaf mute some more".

Loved the look on Tobias' face when Don Ale asked to speak with MA when she had already left.

It was nice to have an episode without Teo, Araceli and Emir.

Will Oblivio finally put 1 and 1 together once he knows MA is the pregnant passenger and realize it is his pregnant MC?

I wish Miguel had killed Ewwsebio but then the truth of Lucia's part in the fire would die with him. But what will Miguel do with him now? Either have to pay him to stay silent or get rid of him. I'm sure Lucia wouldn't have any problem with the latter.

And if I hear MA tell Tobias one more time that she has to tell her padre the truth, I'm going to scream! So annoying. I feel like I'm reliving the same dialogue each episode.

Irisz79 said: "The whole giving birth on a plane is a serious beaine tightening moment for me...

Good question. Perhaps the writers intend for Octavio to land the plane safely and then deliver his baby. Does this mean that the baby is a month and half early? Or did MC/MA just count wrong? That should create an interesting bond between Tav and MC/MA. "I hate you but thank you for saving our child!?"
Is it normal for a woman in labor to just faint?

Gringo:

I had to fly at seven months into my pregnancy and was advised to get a doctor's note, which I did. I was flying from Virginia to Texas. I don't know if this is international or not, I am assuming it is. I had to show the note at the boarding ticket counter just to be able to get on the flight.

The avances show Eduardo stepping out of the cockpit to check on the passenger. The stewardess said "she fainted." I wouldn't be surprised if the pilot with 2.5 brain cells tells her, "good, keep her that way until we land" ... wait, what? Don't even try to revive her and make sure she's okay? And since she fainted with her head to the side and her hair covering her face, he won't know who it is. An ambulance will meet the plane, she will be rushed to the hospital, and the two intelligence-challenged doofuses won't even know MariAle has been on their plane and is about to give birth (total conjecture on my part, but this makes about as much sense as either one of these two morons delivering a baby while in the air).

I think perhaps that is a US thing with some airlines, but face it, most doctors would tell a mother-to-be to park it and wait for the baby.
Now that said, we are dealing with MC, who doesn't seem to listen to anyone right now. And a bunch of TN writers who decide to have Solita have a High-risk pregnancy which they send the info in a note, and the answer is "Hey, let's have the major domo who has no medical training and also has a terminally ill boss to watch over handle things." So I guess we throw the logic out the window and just go with it and more than likely, Ed or Tav will be the hero who delivers said baby, who will be a bouncing 9 pound wonder.

Did MC ever figure out who will take care of this baby on the island if she's busy seeking her revenge and running HER casino?

Daisynjay

The rule about far along pregnant women on planes is likely more about the airlines not wanting to take responsibility/risks, than it is about the health risk of a the woman (taking it easy in late stage pregnancy). I would not be a happy flight attendant either if I saw a heavily pregnant woman getting on my multi-hour flight.

I was on a flight from DC to Ethiopia a few years back, and a guy died on our flight. They had to do some MAJOR reshuffling of seats in order to get a full row to lay the body lengthwise. Guess who got to be in the aisle seat next to the aisle seat where the corpse' feet were sticking out. ME!!! I'll take a pregnant woman any day over that again.

Vivi,

Heh heh. Well at least they didn't just sit him up in the seat right next to you.

That reminded of when I was an intern in the ER at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. We had a particularly busy Sat. night and when things finally slowed down I went into a little room with a couple of cots provided for Drs. to nap in. Without even turning on the light I collapsed into one of the cots. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it was already occupied by a corpse from earlier in the evening that had been stored there by one of the orderlies.

Carlos

LOL Carlos!

Oh my Latina, I know you couldn't believe what you were typing!

I keep telling myself, this thing can't get any dumber, WROOOONG!

Better to nag your padre to death about a POA instead of telling him the truth, which might kill him. Let the rubias tell him, was there an infarto??
How clever to send an e-mail, avoids all those sloppy tears, Mi padre, Mi hija.

Speaking of brain cells which are sparse in this novela, Santa has cornered the market.

Were they moving MA to 1st class, I thought that is where she was.

The pilot is going to deliver the baby in tumultuous weather, good luck Ed, you will need it flying by yourself. If I didn't know better I would have sworn Oct y Ed recently had a flight to SFO

Good job Mrs Mejia, keeping the Mejia fine work going.
BTW, Wm Levy walked off the job, hopefully he wont return to the next Mejia tripe.

I was also thinking Luciafer might try to do in Miguel, or have Ewwsebio do it, which he would very much enjoy, but since he is a major player, she wont succeed.

wonderful recap latinlnMD, great detail to the coversations!

Loved reading the comments, ya'll vented all my feelings for me and totally made me laugh.

Anon 3:00, "good, keep her that way until we land" Lol

Even thoguh don ale doesn't agree with MC, at least he stands with her against the blonde sisters. I'm supposing that something will have to happen for MC to see without her revenge blinders, just hope it's not something too horrible.

jlk

I am mildly worried about Lucia's baby. With her twisted mind, will she harm him to get back at Miguel?

MC look after your sister, she need you more than you need to be mucking about in the casino.

Is it me or is it getting more and more difficult to read the numbers to prove one is not a robot???

Great job, LatinaMD! I had to agree with all your asides. I was tracking with you there:

"(boy, do I remember those pains, and I never spent days on end standing on five-inch stilettos like she does)" You got that right!

"Now she can interpret lab results too? Wow!!! SuperMari never ceases to amaze!!"

"(I would suggest also leaving an open bottle of alcohol just a little past his reach, for added torture.)" Bwahahahahah!

"(Now, why argue with your dying father over something you know will NEVER happen, since you are that daughter? Silly writers.)"

Loved seeing Raiza getting the door slammed on her backside by MariAle. I now also have high hopes for Miguel's being redeemed, but I lost all respect for Tav when he told MA/MC that he never had loved his wife, this after admitting to himself just a few days earlier that he still did love her. Maybe I missed something there?

I wonder if Tav will do a mental double take, or just an emotional one, when he learns from Eddy that the problem preggers passenger is Maricruz 3.0.

@Gringo - there'll be action; what I really meant to say is that I don't need action in every single episode to enjoy this novela.

@Variopinta - oh, I could believe it. I'm on my second viewing of C.I., remember? I actually found it quite amusing. Besides, I know better than to assume that everything a character in this novela plans to do will actually happen. They are too impulsive to follow any plan to a T.

Latina
It is so stupidly amusing, the only reason I hang in.

About Captcha, I complain all the time, how about we all do that.

Vivi- At least the dead guy would be nice and quiet compared to a woman in labor. And you could take his under seat storage and he won't complain!

Kelly

I am actually watching the episode now and I admire you even more. Wowzers what a snoozer episode. The recap is much better.

Captcha is doubly horrendous via a phone.
