PEAM #97-7/24/13: 'Inga We!............And Double Green With Yellow!!!!!!!

Recap By Pablo

It's not a surprise that at Avon,
nobody ever gets anything done!

If make up and the false illusion of never aging is not a good business for Avon, they can always clone DVDs! At least that is something they can do very fast while talking!

Marisela is never happy and complaints that Ricardo wanted to woo her with some borrowed quotes. But I am sure that if Elías was the one saying them, she would fall to his feet as little as she is. Women! Too difficult to live with, too difficult to live without! Jéssica pretends she is paying attention and the DVD cloning chain keeps moving. The usual background people pretend they are discussing important changes to the catalog and Xóchitl pretends she is touching up a spreadsheet on the computer. Doña Susana places the discs in the plastic sleeves being careful not to touch the written side to not smudge it and ruin it.
And suddenly, Licenciado Fernando makes an entrance, still upset after discovering that his beloved Natasha, beautiful and mysterious, is the same ugly duckling he has always made fun of: Xóchitl. And now he won't speak to her, he is that upset. He greets all of the secretaries except her.

In his mansion, Rogelio, half asleep, feels like Sansón is licking him under the covers only to find out it was Patricia and out of the blue he asks her if she is using the femdom. Me? protection? Of course dahling! Secretly she ''makes little monkeys'' because she is actually lying, and she needs to sound like she is really not trying to get pregnant.

Meanwhile, in the ''Cat's claw'', Valentina, buried under a ton of plush toys of all sizes, is being held against her little will. Marta believes she is Jimena, her daughter, but Vale makes clear she is not, throwing the little pancakes on the floor as she hits the tray. Marta gets crazier, if that's possible, because she spent all night cutting normal size pancakes into a smaller size with a mayonnaise lid and threatens  to tell her Dad when he gets home so he can beat her with the belt buckle, on her back and the back of her legs, where it really hurts and nobody can see!!

There's no doubt Alma is as beautiful as an angel! She wakes up in full makeup. Jesús is worried for Valentina, but the sight of his dear love makes him sigh and think about the huge love he feels for her. This is when he remembers that night when he first met his ''princesa''. He cries and holds his Unefón in the hopes of getting a call... nothing.

When Jéssica and the team finally finish with the cloning of the DVDs, she returns to her post, but when Ricardo complains because her technique ''failed'', she retorts that the strategy is indeed proven to success, if only he was ''handsomer''. Then she gets distracted because Oliverio left a little plush bear on her desk and she, as all women, loves the detail. He is so romantic, she thinks. And that gift is only to wish her a great day, imagine what he could give her for her birthday! Her zodiac sign's stone, perhaps?

Verónica is upset because her daughter hasn't shown up and she is sure the police are not doing enough. She is right, with only two policemen in Monterrey and both here with Chatita, who is looking for the girl? Chatita, as wise as always, or at least when she has a clear mind, begs Verónica to trust Jesús, not this one, well, this one also, but the one upstairs, the one sitting on the right of his father. He always listens to our prayers and Vale will come back unharmed. I am sure Chatita read the script and we all know what is going to happen next. Verónica is confused and could get crazy too, if she keeps receiving opposite advice from Chatita and Elías. Chatita tells her to cry, so she can let all her pain out, but Elías holds her and says, don't cry, don't cry... Ok, can I cry or not! Leave me alone you two!

Since the fact that if Alma is with Jesús ,or by herself in her penthouse , doesn't affect the finding of little Valentina, she goes home to retouch her makeup (and the roots) and right there she finds the good bye letter Don Sebastián left for her. Check out the picture in the back, the one with the red flying poppies, you will see something like it later on.

In one frame Alma is watching the family picture and in the next she is sitting by Jesús in the car looking for the girl. I am sure Alma spent the whole day reading the letter and watching the picture, because now that she is with Jesus it is night time. A whole day has gone by, Vale takes a chance when Marta falls asleep, gets up and ''luckily'' finds Marta's phone and ''luckily'' there's a map SHOWING THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE HOUSE next to it.
Valentina is smart and uses a smarter phone to call Jesús, who LUCKILY was in the proximity of the exit he should take to get to Cat's claw. Well, Valentina could be very smart but she doesn't know how to whisper and her loud voice wakes Marta up. She runs to the girl and takes the phone from her little hand and the call gets disconnected.

Luckily Jesús has good memory and remembers EVERYTHING Vale told him, and now it would be just a matter of seconds before he gets there to rescue her. Alma sees the sign, calls Chatita so they can tell the police and as soon as the fire starts, they all get tele-transported to that place.

Because Marta, in her wacky world, doesn't want to share Valentina with the world, so if she can't have her, nobody will, brings the yellow gas container and a lighter (never leave home without it) and starts the fire.
Luckily there was water and a little fire extinguisher handy, so before I tell you, Jesús rescues his daughter breaking the door and risking his own life. Marta and Alma have the same taste in paintings. See the flying red poppies?

In a very cheap re-creation of the six million dollar man, Jesús runs trough the flames, and since he told Marta not to stay and get herself cremated, she obediently ran away BEFORE the police and firemen got there, right?
Alma finds the same red bucket that fell on Jesús head the day they met and uses it to quench the fire, yeah right!
Jesús might be fast & furious but Marta sure is slow & clumsy, because by the time everybody left with the girl and the only three firemen in Monterrey arrive with their hose, SHE IS STILL RUNNING AROUND!! Here I would like to have heard the Benny Hill running theme. This is ridiculous! How crazy is she, again? How stupid are the police, with her running in front of their own noses and they can not find her!!

Back at Avon, Xóchitl wishes Fernando would talk to her again, Gilberto gets a little courage to talk to Ivonne while the two stooges mock them and the other two, Julio and Ricardo, go to see if their two ''girlfriends'' are ready to go.
Xóchitl insists in making Fernando talk to her and he pretends not to see her. Another brilliant idea from someone in production, who think this scene is very funny!

Back at Chatita's, there's a huge fight over Valentina, who wants to stay with Jesús and that splits the whole house in two, because Verónica as her mother, wants to stay with her, but everybody else ''sticks their spoon'' taking Jesús side, making Vero more angrier as time goes by. Blah, blah, blah, Vero this and Jesús that, fast forward!!! Valentina stays.

After Xóchitl makes up with Fernando breaking Julio's heart, when she tells him,"I don't love you". In another brilliant comedic moment, everybody drops to the floor (!?)

Patricia talks to Renato about her plan to get Rogelio come rain or come shine, by all means necessary, and her secret weapon is not the oldest, but the stupidest, getting pregnant. What could burst her bubble, is knowing that Rogelio doesn't love her, but since she is not a tarot reader yet, she will probably know it when it is too late. Her plan B though, in case Rogelio doesn't show his true colors, she can always keep the baby and that will be as a compensation gift. If I don't get the old block, at least I get the chip.

While Verónica holds Valentina and cries, making up for all the time they have been separated, the rest of the gang drink tea and talk about personal stuff like wedding annulments, unfaithfulness, true love, and to prove her memory is selective, Chatita remembers Jesús and Alma's kisses as she was actually there between them!! And all thanks to Tomasito, the spirit who guided Niño Fidencio. Bombo, I mean, Chato or Elías, makes amends with Jesús and the bromance blossoms one more time. Chatita remembers:

1 The fake kiss
2 The drunken kiss
3 The pre-nuptial chat kiss
4 The two nights they spent in Can Cún

Bárbara, Cry Wolf Martínez, complains of a chest pain but neither Xóchitl nor Julio pays attention and she leaves to her bedroom. Julio wants to know why Xóchitl is so happy now that Fernando is speaking with her again and the truth comes out. Xóchitl is not sure who she loves, but is not Julio, bummer... Julio leaves crying!!

The only prostitute in Monterrey is also the most alone and looks for Fernando to keep him company, asking for salt this time, instead of sugar. To be a prostitute she knows a lot, or at least she has a good memory, because she asks Fernando about Jéssica, Discua, Natasha, and that's when he confesses he is love with ''the other'' meaning Xóchitl. Who despite being ugly and tasteless like an avocado without salt, has taught him priceless lessons of life.

Ivonne, who pretends she is a receptionist at Avon and moonlights as a singer that not even crickets like, also likes the table dance, but Gilberto drops to the floor when he sees her almost naked... Poor one, he couldn't resist the pressure!

It is always good to pray before going to bed, and Valentina thanks the lord for having two dads and one mom, for saving her today, and so on until next morning...

Tomorrow more of the same, plus Uri is trying to kill Jesús (hopefully, so we can move on).

Fabulous recap as always! Love your snark.

Those cops were so dumb I have to say, Marta ran right in front of them, and they never noticed! Go figure.

I am so happy Valentina called Chucho and was saved from that fire. Too bad Marta escaped. I hope all of them keep a better eye on Valentina now. Vero is horrid, just horrid. I am glad that Chucho reminded her that Valentina had just been through a traumatic experience to come out of that room to talk. Valentina has had enough already! I am glad she is staying with Chucho.

How sweet were Elias and Chucho? I am glad that bromance is back on track.

I wonder about Chatita sometimes. She can remember some very important things, stores some other important things in her bra of all knowledge and gets totally confused at others. What exactly is wrong with her? Hmmmm......

I am glad that Xochi and Ferny made up, and now he says he is in love with Xochi, que, que what???? But at least he has seen her every day and not like Discua who he fell in love with instantly. Hmmmm

I felt sorry for Julio, poor guy, but at least Xochi was up front with him.

And who knew a hooker with a heart of gold. I had to laugh when she was talking about her new monied client, lol.

Renato is a should have been a therapist. He gave Patymelt very good advice. I just wish she had listened!

Your recap is a hoot, Pablo! I didn't set my recorder by mistake, so I got to miss the fire (lucky me!) and all the office doings (too bad!), but now I'm up to speed on what happened.

Thank you for the very fun read!

Always, always can rely on you Pablo to just give it to us like it is with your recaps. This was hysterical, can hardly pick out all the great lines. There's just too many. But I did like:
"See the flying red poppies?"

Hey, tight budget. Have to move some props around. Kind of reminds you of the Wizard of Oz with the Wicked Witch cackling "Poppies...."

Had to park the reality on Val's save, but at least she is safe and sound. And as we all thought, figured it out herself. Just needs a lesson in whispering. But with a mother who just yells and bitches all the time, guess that hasn't been something much she's learned.(This woman is getting on my last raw nerve. Even my cat leaves the room when she starts shrilling now. )

What I didn't appreciate was that, though Chucho pointed out that the poor child has gone thru trauma, seems the adults were more concerned about themselves and jumped into "back to love life" convo's way too fast. Val acted like someone who's trauma was a scratched knee vs. a kidnapping. I know this is a light comedy, but they could have been slightly more realistic of how it would affect her unless she is the most balanced little 7 year old the world has ever seen.

Can't comment on Patimelt because this getting pregnant thing is one of me least fav plotlines that surfaces in TN's. Just stupid.

Poor Julio ( though a little much in reaction to me) but I too give kudos to Xochi for being straight forward with him. And though Ferny is jumping again too soon, I can't wait to see how this plays out with him and Xochi. Oh, and I don't think Mumsy was faking. I'm betting that it's the "boy who cried wolf" with her. She's faked it so many times that Xochi isn't going to take her serious and then.....

So Marta lives to be a plot point another day. Oh, yippee (NOT).

Oops, forgot to sign. Stupid account. That's me commenting.

Pablo, you were definitely at your snarkiest best in this recap! Thank you for many good laughs this morning.

So, Paty has been TRYING to get pregnant for a good while now and nothing has happened.

Fernando called Xochi "Lety". Xochi is "cute" but is no "Lety". He needs to get over himself already.

Veronica couldn't even put her own feelings on the back burner and consider Valentina's feelings. Just when you think she can't be a bigger jerk, she is! Se and Rogelio deserve each other. I hope they get together.

Jarifa

Thanks.
Looks like everybody in this TN likes to watch TNs. Cárdenas and his mom do, Chatita and the taco maker do, and now Fernando, who'd have thunk it?

Thanks for the funny take on the episode Pablo. You particularly captured my thoughts on the whole Marta escape. I had a huge laugh when she popped up right in front of the camera, with the firemen and police who had been looking so hard for her, right behind her. Maybe she should have been wearing Alma's "Where's Waldo?" skirt. Then her invisibility would have made sense.

Vero is horrible. Enough said. Jesus did say that Val needs to see a shrink (one who isn't crazy this time) because a kidnapping and fire and all she's been through is very traumatic. I think Val was just putting on a brave face. I bet she'll be having some scary flashbacks at some point. Especially with Marta still on the loose.

Didn't catch that. Thanks Vivi. If they do send Val to a therapist, we can probably rest assured that it will be the new "only available" therapist in all of TN'ville! I'd be wary of anyone willing to do house calls though like Marta did. Speaking of whom--I can see it now. She'll surface and have the same doc as Val. I watch too many TN's.

Thank you Pablo. It's always fun to watch this show from your point of view because you are able to pick up on the funniest details. Poppies indeed! Benny Hill - oh yes the theme song ran through my head as I watched that scene this morning.

I don't need to rip on Vero because the rest of you have done such a great job of it already. It's the classic case of the child having to be mature because the parent refuses to. Ugh. I'm sure we've said this before, but Val would be a lot better off if Elias and Chucho moved in together and she could live with them (My Two Dads?).

Was it me or did this seem like a very long episode? At least there wasn't a long, drawn-out kidnapping and our 6 million dollar hunk has a good memory for directions (and a little tiny fire extinguisher).

Thanks, Pablo. I think you were given a double-helping of craziness in last night's episode.

I missed the red flying poppies. Good catch!

Speaking of re-used props, for a minute last night I thought Yvonne was wearing the pear robe, but then I got a better look. Maybe the pear robe's been retired. So is Gil dead?

It's a good thing Valentina is better at reading maps than I am. Chucho and Alma would still be driving around lost if that had been me.

I was very confused when everyone fell to the floor. I still don't get what happened. Did the Joker get them with knockout gas? Was it carbon monoxide poisoning?

Chatita has quite the memory, even being able to serve up flashbacks of things she didn't witness!

If Xochi's mom is faking, then someone should explain to her that mixing real crisis with melodrama is not the way to get people to listen to you. Also, priorities. If she's really having chest pains, she should be talking to a doctor, not guilting her daughter.

Someone yesterday suggested that Delia and Elias could get together. I love that idea. The thought of a rivalry between Delia and Vero is just irresistible. If Vero can barely hold her own against mild-mannered Alma, just imagine how she'd hold up with someone like Delia who has seen everything.

“Women! Too difficult to live with, too difficult to live without!”—great quote. Here’s one of my fav movie quotes re women: “Gerry, I'm a woman! We don't say what we WANT! But we reserve the right to get pissed off if we don't get it. That's what makes us so fascinating! And not a little bit scary.” –Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn) in Sliding Doors

That’s the Vero in Vale: stubbornly refusing to go along with the Ximena thing. And speaking of “Vale”, Jesus actually called her that on the phone.

Question: when Vale is thought bubbling her call for help, I thought she called for: “Papa Jesus, Papa Elias, Mama and Almita. But the closed captioning said that she called for Papa Jesus, Papa Elias, Mama and Mamita. Which is it?

I think it was cute of Olivero to leave that little bear on Jess’ desk. Sometimes she infuriates me, but I have to say it’s a lot of fun watching her being romanced, probably for the first time in her life.

Didn’t get that Fern confessed his love for Xochi! Whoa!

Also, I’d be interested in knowing what it was that Jesus said to Vero during their talk.

Mads: What was Renato’s advice?

I’m figuring that Vale might have some nightmares. It would make it more realistic if she did show some PTSD signs. I can buy a little delayed reaction.

I have to laugh. I was the one who suggested Delia for Elias, because I thought they’d be good together, but everyone who’s commented on it like it because Delia could take Vero ☺

OT: went to a little concert at my local public library of a couple of guitarists. They played a lot of Mexican music. It was great. This cute woman I helped guide to the building and sat next to (and turns out was invited by the same people from my book group who told me about the concert) knew a lot of the songs.

Oh Pablo, I can tell watching this telenovela is about as much fun for you as a root canal. So sorry amigo, but it does bring out your wonderful sense of humor.

Loved your various descriptions of little Valentina...

"held against her LITTLE will" and then later.... something about her "LITTLE hand". Yes, she is a wee dear thing, at least for us moony grandmother types.

And laughed at the emotional push/pull description of cranky Vero: "cry, get it out...dear dear don't cry..." Can I cry or not?!

Other faves:

"If I don't get the old block, at least I get the chip". (Doesn't sound like a good move to me, but then I'm not Paty.)

and lastly, your description of poor top-heavy Ivonne...

"the singer that not even crickets like". Ouch!, Pablo.

Haven't seen this one. Probably won't. But loved your jaundiced, world-wear description of it, my friend.

Thanks, Pablo! So funny. Good eye for detail, with the poppy art, too! Maybe the writers and director are really into poppy products...it might explain a few things, like the bizarre falling to the floor in the office.

I can believe that Val would be feeling fine right now. She's probably in a bit of shock, and right now she's feeling safe back at home and surrounded by guardians. I would think she might have a delayed reaction, though, with nightmares about Marta and the clown and the fire, or becoming afraid to be alone.

Super amazing how everyone arrived at the creepy cabin so fast. Elias and Vero arrived within minutes, starting from the vecindad! They even beat the fire trucks! I was yelling at Val to go outside or at least into the bathroom and whisper, but then I guess we wouldn't have been able to see our six million dollar galán running slo-mo into a burning building. Which he is making quite a habit of. Chucho should consider a career in firefighting. He's run into smoke to rescue both Val and Alma (unnecessarily, that time), and he's run to the top of a high-rise building to save Fer on the roof.

Vero is completely insufferable. I did like when Chucho finally told her to be quiet because her ranting was not helping anything and giving him a headache, besides.

Pablo! What a recap! Lots of action this time.

I got a kick out of the 4 dropping to the floor. It made no sense, but it was perfect, en serio. The epi was so full of nonsense it just about knocks you out.

I am super curious about Chatita's comment about Vero to Vale. The caption read, "tiene un carater! y siempre anda con la jetota." What is jetota?

This is the transcription of what I FF:

Verónica: Valentina is MY daughter and I won't allow that everybody decide what's good for her or not.
Jesús: Calm down, don't yell... and once and for all I demand you respect Chatita. She has done a lot for us and she and Alma love Valentina.
V: I understand that, but neither Chatita nor Alma are going to tell me what to do with MY DAUGHTER... specially YOUR Alma!
j: Alma is my girlfriend (he said pareja, that translates as couple, or partner, but I don't get the meaning. Are they living together now?) and I am not going to let you disrespect her.
v: Your girfriend! You say that so proudly...
j: Yes, Verónica, she is the woman I love.
V: Perfect! Now everybody is against me!
J: No, no, no, nobody is. Valentina was kidnapped by a crazy woman who set the place on fire. Our daughter must be stressed. Try to imagine what she is going through right now... Instead of arguing, we should be thanking the Lord she is here with us.
V: Sure! I am thankful! But I want to be with her and take her to a doctor for a full exam. That crazy woman could have done anything to her!!
J: Wait, wait... take it easy. Vale was checked by the paramedics, and I agree that she should be taken to the Hospital, but if she is asking, let her stay here tonight. Plus, she has to see another therapist, so she can understands that her world is still intact and that everything around her is safe. Don't you think?
V: Ok, take very much care of her!
J: Sure! I am also talking to her teacher to cover all areas... remember Marta is still on the run.
V: That crazy b**ch! Let me go see Vale and say good bye.
J: I thank you a lot!

End scene

Lips are called ''jetas''.
In this case, andar de jeta or con la jetota is showing angry face, when you put your lips in a way people can guess immediately how you feel.

When Valentina got out of bed, did it strike anyone else odd that she was wearing a coat? Had she been wearing a coat all that time? Or did she put the coat on when I wasn't looking? (Quite possible...)

she had that mexican hot pink coat all the time

Thanks for translating that dicho, Pablo. Really long discussions like that are hard for me to understand and it looked like it might have been important. Not so much, so doubly grateful you took the time to do that for me.

The whole fainting scene was funny. I don't get it, but it was funny. I thought maybe there was a gas leak or something. Or maybe they were play fainting at something Xochi said.

Pablo, thank you. I look so forward to your witty recaps. I was in tears reading about Marta escaping from the fire and running under the police officer's noses. I don't understand why those two were there at the house went to the fire when they said that other officers were out looking for Val.
You definitely have a good eye for detail, I never even looked at the poppy picture.
True - it's surprising why Avon stays afloat because no one works with the exception of Alma and Cardenas.
Yes, Alma must be an angel waking up fully made up.
Ewwww, Xochy likes Fern. That will be an interesting couple. I felt bad for Julio. The fainting scene gives me a reason to FF. it was silly!
Julie- Yes, I noticed that Val had her coat on. I figured that she was planning to make her escape and stayed fully dressed.

yeah, not just her coat, but sleeping with her shoes on too - - ready to make her escape!

Odd. I would have thought that Marta would make her wear pajamas.

My husband passed through the room as the cabin was burning. He glanced at it and said, "That fire looks really fake, like Universal Studios or something. What are you watching?" Me: a telenovela. Him: 'nuff said. LOL

That fainting en masse was really dumb - not even funny.

andar con la jetota: going around with the lip stuck out

My mom was from Kentucky farmland and they had a similar saying when someone was sulking and their lower lip was sticking out....

"Looks like we're having beefsteak for dinner".

If that doesn't put you off red meat, nothing will.
