Qué Bonito Amor #92 (Mex 130) Wednesday 8/21/13 Don't take that apple, Maria, the serpent might not like it.

I am subbing tonight, everyone!

BRIEF SUMMARY. Recap is finally done. PUT A FORK IN IT! (Some scenes will be condensed and combined for clarity.)

Refrito with Justo and Amalia commiserating about everything. Justo is grieved because first he lost his wife, and now, apparently JAntos. Amalia is just feeling sorry for herself (as usual). Meanwhile, JAntos and Maria are doing the camping out thing. Justo feels so bad because he wasn't as close to JAntos as he should have been. Amalia can't keep her yap shut, at this sad moment for Justo she again "kindly" admonishes JAntos because he "promised" he'd take care of Maria.

Think of someone else's suffering for a moment, will you, Amalia?

Maria and JAntos are making lunch with a fish he caught. JAntos is apologetic for their predicament and Maria is reassuring him it's okay. He blames Orange Guiliano for their situation.

She reassures him that this isn't his fault.

Justo and Amalia continuing to discuss the sad state of affairs; Amalia thinking that JAntos didn't really love Maria and Justo saying that we don't understand the power of love. Meanwhile, Maria and JAntos share a moment of contentment after their fish lunch.

Happy happy.

We have some Keystone Cops action between Derecho/Curtis and Orange G and his people. Orange G gets away.

Wendy is hanging out with Amancia and the sister of the pension lady (who again I forget her name). The older ladies are rattling on about the meal they're cooking and all the misfortune that is going on, while Wendy is trying not to cry.

More with Amalia and Justo. Their grief is compounded by the fact that there are no bodies to bury and no Christian burial. They join in commiseration. Amalia worries about how she's going to break the news to her other daughters.

Lourdes overhears Don Concho yelling on the phone about meeting someone. She jumps to the conclusion that he's seeing another woman (ALREADY! she cries). He assures her that's not it and he can prove it. He reminds her that they've got bigger fish to fry, namely trying to fix what the heck is wrong with Elvira.

Our comic duo at the bar (short guy and black moustache, sorry can't remember their names) come to Elvira to get an extra key to the pantry. Mirna must have swiped the one they had with them. Elvira connects the dots and figures that Mirna had some goodies stashed there so she'll go with the guys with the spare key to see what's up.

Amalia breaks the news to her younger girls about the supposed death of JAntos and Maria. Isa takes it especially hard.

The girls react to the sad news.

Short Guy and Black Moustache have moved some boxes around in the pantry. They make some sort of veiled innuendo towards her (such idiots!). Elvira just wants them to go away. She yells at them so suddenly that Short Guy jumps in Black Moustache's arms. It was actually a little funny. Just a little.

She is pretty frightening.

Wendy comforts and distraught Isa over the loss of JAntos and Maria. Meanwhile, Mirna, alone in the pantry, quickly finds Mirna's stash of money. Elvira decides to use the money to frame JAntos and "that stupid Maria" of theft. Concho and Lourdes, you have your work cut out for you!

JAntos and Maria camp out under the stars. Exchange loving words. They get busy under the trees and stars out there in the woods. (I seem to always recap the episodes which contain love scenes between these two!) JAntos thanks Maria for sticking by him—he marvels at how he lucked out and got a girl like her. They're so happy. Cue an Univision-edited love scene where we don't see much but tastefully blurred shots of their campfire with shadowy, barely discernible figures in the background.

Love amidst the twigs and grass.

Ana is at the bar crying, inconsolable about Maria's death. Siete Mares is trying to comfort her. When Fernando saunters in, Ana slaps him across the face, blaming him for all of this because he knew what was going on with JAntos's situation and didn't say anything. Or something. Fernando looks impactado at being slapped.

Don Concho and Lourdes are lecturing Elvira on what an evil bruja she is. Elvira is of course denying everything and whining about being ill-judged. Mirna barges into Don Concho's office with two guys in tow. Lots of griping as Mirna says she's been "hired back" by Amalia (I think?) who is co-owner of the bar. Mirna says she can prove that Elvira is a murderer (of Maria's unborn baby). The two guys are there seeking a DNA test for Don Concho. Uh oh!

Ana continues to blame Fernando for all this tragedy. He replies that he's just as devastated that his best friends are gone. They are getting into each others' faces, which causes Siete Mares to come forward to defend his "woman." Then Fernando and Siete Mares get into a tussle. Susanito chews them out for having this stupid fight when they've just lost two of their friends (JAntos and Maria). Tempers run high and boil over.

Meanwhile, the folks back home, assuming that JAntos and Maria are already dead have set up candles and a memorial for them.

Having their own memorial service at home for Maria and JAntos.

Susanito convinces Fernando and Siete Mares to stop fighting. They're mariachis! They stick together! Fernando and Susanito share a manly embrace.

At the bar that night, Don Concho tells the audience that their stars won't be there. Fernando will give them a wonderful performance instead. Just as Fernando is about to start singing, Coloso appears and does a song instead. (Fernando seems almost relieved.) Lovely song.

Coloso wows the audience as well as Viewerville.

Post-coital discussion between JAntos and Maria. He's so grateful for her love but he's still worried that the bad guys will win and he'll lose her in the end. She assures him that nothing will separate them. Besos. Later as JAntos sleeps, Maria tells him how she loved him the first moment she saw him and that all that matters now is that their love be free.

Curtis tries to reassure Derecho that he isn't as much of an incompetent dumbass as he actually is, as Derecho laments letting JAntos get away. Meanwhile, Orange G is being chauffeured by two henchmen who at first wonder if maybe JAntos and Maria are still alive (heaven forbid, Orange exclaims) and then after a phone call they inform him he's got unfinished business with Ruben. In response to this, Orange G escapes out of the rolling car.

Coloso hears about Maria's "death," as well as Gloria's passing. He becomes unglued about Maria and says that "JAntos took her away from me forever." Fernando tries to comfort him.

Trying to calm Coloso.

It's morning and our lovebirds are cooing some more. Maria could get lost in JAntos's eyes. He promises he'll always protect her. More besos.

Love love love.

Gravity is very kind to JAntos's face here. (Not that he could ever look bad!)

Besos in the forest.

Don Ruben admonishes henchmen for letting Orange G from escaping. Ruben tells the henchment to go take him to the last place that they saw JAntos and Maria as he wants to see JAntos's "stinking body."

Justo and Amalia commiserate with each other over the loss of their kids, and bond a little.

In the morning, Maria is by herself for a while in the forest, and gets bitten by a snake when she reaches for an apple. She gets bitten on the hand. JAntos soon returns, discovers her unconscious, figures out she's been bitten, tries to suck out the venom and does first aid. She seems to react a bit but is still bad off. JAntos says he's got to get her medical help. She replies that she'd rather die with him there. "I can't be that selfish!" he says as he carries her away. He reaches a town and guess who is the first person he sees? Ruben, of course. Ruben offers to take them to a nearby clinic.

She's been bit by a serpent!

No, obviously he's not going to let her die in the woods!

Discovered by Ruben!

Amalia, who has been chatting with Don Justo, gets a "mothers feeling" (WHAT. EVER.) that Maria is alive at the exact moment that Maria was bitten by the snake.

Derecho and Curtis are on the prowl for JAntos and Maria, along with their two equally incompetent Mexican police counterparts. They go out to the road where Derecho is sure he saw JAntos and Maria get into a taxi. Derecho thinks it's possible that they're still alive. JAntos has survived so often before, and besides, they haven't found his body. They'll work on the assumption that JAntos is still alive, Derecho resolves.

Fernando has prepared Rodrigo and Cute Little Kid (whose name still escapes me) a nice meal, but Cute Kid is still kvetching. Fernando talks with Rodrigo about dealing with the devastating losses he's experienced in the last few days. But he's got a surprise for Rodrigo. Coloso! Rodrigo reacts with tearful delight.

Dad has returned!

Coloso mans up to take care of Rodrigo. He gives a heartfelt speech to the kid that he's so sorry he wasn't around when Glorida died, and she was a fine woman. Coloso vows to never leave Rodrigo alone ever again. Father and son embrace.

Finally he'll be a real dad!

Fernando is hanging out with the cute kid and offers to be his dad after Kid bemoans the fact that he has nobody in his life. Kid is very happy about that. But he doesn't have much time to enjoy it, because immediately afterwards, Fernando is arrested by the police by helping JAntos escape. (Derecho has this idea that JAntos will get in touch with his mariachi buddies and arresting Fernando was his idea.) Fernando is impactado. No puede ser!

At the clinic, Maria is cared for, but still unconscious. Ruben makes JAntos an offer: Ruben will fund JAntos's escape and help him with a new identity, etc., but he's got to leave Maria behind (with Ruben, por supuesto!). JAntos, predictably, says no way douchebag! Ruben calls him a coward.

That's not a good deal, and JAntos won't be taking it!

Worried about his Bonita.

Ruben scuttles off (in his own display of cowardice) when he hears the police coming around the clinic. Derecho and Curtis discover JAntos in Maria's hospital room. Derecho gloats that he has finally found his prey, while JAntos has an "oh shit" look on his face. He's read his rights and Curtis starts to handcuff him.

Uh oh!

"Oh crap!"

END OF EPISODE!
Avances: Everyone's in jail. MUST SEE TV!!!

Hoping for some good screencaps, Elvira, especially of the censored love scenes!

I think we can solve our credibility problem if we keep reminding ourselves that telenovelas are operas as serialized drama. There are many traits these things have in common: Over-the-top emotional reactions, villains with no limits, and bizarre discoveries, like an apple tree on the riverbank, far away from any orchard where it belongs.

And Ruben as a standard opera villain, offering a devil's deal.

What I'm wondering is what Elvira was thought-bubbling to herself over the money.

Justo better know some good lawyers on both sides of the border. There were no charges pending when Santos ran the first time, but his escape from the mob shooting could carry a charge despite the mistake made by the border patrol that shipped him back to Tijuana.

Maria can't be charged with anything unless the Mexican police want to score points with the US ones. That would lower their IQ's considering that Derecho and Curtis are seriously deficient in that department themselves.

This makes me wonder whether the writers of this series are deliberately insulting US cops.

I don't understand why Amelia's mother-radar didn't kick in when Maria was assumed dead. Think she would have been immersed in physic connectivity. Guess it is just a snake and apple thingy.

Is Houdini-Santos about to make another great escape?

I was hoping Mancia would think of taking out the tarot cards. "Las cartas nunca mientan."

This incident is meant to make Amalia and Wendy get real. At least for a while.

I thought about those tarot cards as well. Amelia must have been feeling so sorry for herself there was no room for her heart of a mother vibe to get through.

There is no point in saying how ridiculous it is that both Ruben who is on the hunt for both Santos and OJ and the idiot cops suddenly think let's go back to where they got away the first time and see if their bodies show up.

JAntos takes his Eve and hurries down what is obviously a hiking trail to a nearby road. He screams for help but there isn't a car to be seen on the little two lane road. A hand and it's the snake on two legs. What are the odds?

I couldn't help but notice during a couple of the Garden of Eden scenes there was clearly a dog barking in the background which should have told Adam and Eve that there was civilization close by. Surely they didn't think they were going to live in that little grass hut for any length of time.

It wasn't a good 24 hours for Fernando who led the OJ beat down team, returned to JNTR only to be greeted by everyone weeping and Ana accusing him of being responsible for Maria's death and clocking him one. Then 7 Seas mouths off and we get another dressing room brawl.

My question why did Coloso suddenly show up with his bedraggled cock. Obviously he didn't know about either Maria or Gloria because lucky Fernando had to break that news to him.

I'm feeling truly sorry for all the kids. Roddy, Jalisquito and Isa are desperate for father figures. One father runs off, one is presumed dead and Jalisquito's new father gets arrested. Adding to this having to cope with nightclub fiasco and the supposed death of people they love and admire and these kids are prime candidates for a shrink. The only one who seems to be concerned about them is Fernando.

I don't think the writers are deliberately insulting US cops, they are insulting all cops. The dolts on both side of the border in this are a disgrace. Malo decided to arrest Fernando as JAntos best friend, who has still not committed a crime in Mexico so Fernando can't be an accomplice. Dumb and Dumber might make a case but it is doubtful that Mexico would extradite its citizens to the US for supposedly being accomplices to a fugitive. I wonder if Dumb sand Dumber think they can just huslte Santos into a car or plane and bring him back to the US. If hey did they would be violating international law and could be charged with kidnapping and wouldn't that be a fun twist.

Another crazy episode. I wonder how Maria will recover so fast if she is shown going to visit JA in jail.

UA, Elvira is planning to frame Maria and JA for stealing the money. As to how she's going to do that, I don't know.

So once again Ruben had to be the one to save the day. As to how D&C arrived at the hospital, I'm still confused.

I'm kind of glad that Coloso is back so maybe now he can redeem himself.

It’s good to see Coloso again. I’ve missed his ugly mug and that stubble look on him is hawt.

I have been so very fickle lately. I’m just not into this TN anymore. I don’t know if it was the increased commercial breaks we’ve had ever since LT started, losing characters I liked lately, the truncated love scenes, too many idiot cops, that obnoxious little street urchin, or just too much repetition and stupidity in general, but somehow, suddenly, I was very weary of it all. Any episode with more Dumb and Dumber than music is a loser for me, that’s for sure, and we’ve had several of those back to back lately. I’m still watching and reading, but that’s all.

I had started thinking about what TN I was going to watch next, and I am not interested in anything else that’s currently available, though I may end up sailing away on La Tempestad and having a damn fab time. That still could happen. But in the meantime, I looked into a DIY project of watching La Que No Podia Amar and have gotten totally hooked. Now THAT is a good TN and the performance of JS is mindblowing. For all her faults, I’ll take Cupcake over Maria any day of the week. It seems all the epis are online and I have really, really enjoyed the recaps and comments. So thank you, Elvira, UA, Anita, Jardinera, 5 Footer, and everybody else. Your wit and snark are still working their magic. Best of all, since I am mainly here to learn Spanish, I am glad that I have to watch it without subtitles (which are either not available or really goofy online) and I feel it’s helping my listening skills a lot. I had started to want to break free of subtitles, and reading the recap and then watching the scene gives me enough support to do so and understand most of what is going on. Another fun aspect is just FFing through all the stupid stuff, like the boring fishermen scenes.

Just call me Fickle-lina. :)

Here’s an oldie but goodie I came across in the LQNPA comments (be sure to watch at least to the midway point):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6k0_ZocerU&feature=youtu.be

And for the hardcore Jorge fangirls:

I too wondered how the cops arrived at the clinic. I can only think that Ruben called them but then had to run himself since the Mexican set are looking at him for Fabnot's murder.

As someone who lives in rattlesnake country I can tell you the stupidest think JAntos did was to try suck out the venom. At least he didn't cut it to enable him to do so which is a no no. He did have the sense to put a tourniquet on between the wound and the heart and tried to keep the wound elevated. He has to hope that the clinic at anti venom serum which isn't always available. Then again Novelaland she'll be up and around in no time at all.

Not to belabor the point but Amelia has softened on her I hate JAntos stance since she thinks he is dead. So I wonder how long it will be before she is once again haranguing Maria to split from him especially if he is in prison. My guess is almost immediately followed by a you wouldn't have been bitten by a snake if you hadn't gone running off with a fugitive.

Hola everyone! I'm fleshing out the recap now and adding the screencaps as I go along. Keep checking back!

I had forgotten Amelia going on and on about how JAntos doesn't love Maria and i just want to slap her senseless. She has such a one track mind I'm starting to mentally shut her out when she opens her mouth.

So 31 episodes to go and I'm guessing she will have 31 more chances to change her mind about JAntos, he's bad, he's ok, he terrible, he's not so bad and on and on and on. My advice to JAntos is marry Maria and take her as far away from Amelia as is possible or be prepared for the most nagging buttinski suegra in history.

There was once a poster called "Everything I need to know in life I learned from Princess Diana" and my favorite line on it was "When you live with his mother, 400 rooms is not enough."

That would work both ways.

Amalia can't let go of the insane notion that only she and the girls love Maria. She will rant about this until the final episode. The mute button is a great invention.

While Concho and Lourdes might be tempted to believe the lie Elvira is trying to set up, nobody else in JNTR will believe it.

Carolina, LQNPA is a fantastic series despite the writing issues that happened when Jorge became ill. He gave such a stellar performance in the midst of it all.

UA, Elvira is planning to frame Maria and JA for stealing the money. As to how she's going to do that, I don't know.
------------

But........

Maria (Amalia) owns half of the bar, so Maria wouldn't have been stealing from herself, she would've been storing away her own money.

And if Elvira wants to go down that road, Amalia could have Elvira's daddy locked up for stealing from them for the past 10 years.

It would make no sense at all for them to run without taking the money. Considering the amount of it, that's more than they could have stashed in the six months JA was there.

Maria would have had no access to the bodega, as she had no idea she owned half the bar. Neither her nor JA's fingerprints would be on that money.

Concho is still in trouble over back taxes and now the DNA test will prove that Susanito is his son. He should take over for Maria until she can confront them.

URBAN You're dead right neither Maria or JAntos would have had keys to the bodega nor did JAntos or Maria have access to the cash. Elvirus can claim she found it in the dressing room or someplace else but nobody in their right mind will believe a word out of her proven lying mouth. As has been pointed out the Mendozas own half the bar anyway and if anyone thinks Mirna will let Elvirus go down that road is nuts.

I wonder why Mirna is leading the charge to force Concho to have the DNA test. Her motivation would seem to be to further cut into the share of the bar that Elvirus thinks is hers. I figure that by the end the bar will be sold and none of the current cast of characters will own any part of it.

Decie, I think Concho called Oscar once he knew that Maria and JA would not be there that evening.

A couple of days have passed so by now the dressing room will have been inspected and the money not found there, if that's where Elvirus is thinking to plant it.

Mirna is looking to stick it to Elvirus and there is no better way than to reduce her share of her inheritance, particularly since Susanito would be Maria's ally.

Hi everybody. I'm a little late. Carolina, we have missed your insightful comments. We will miss you, too, but LQNPA is great.

Elvira--As ever, grateful to you for your excellent recap and the great screencaps. Had to laugh at your comment on getting all the JA-M love scenes. So JS wears tighty-blackies.

The Ruben-Cops showing up where they are not expected is a function of the writers not knowing how to set the next edge-of-our-seat thriller of how JA & M are going to get out of this next one--AGAIN.

If it's only been a day or two, they sure got the bomb blasted hole in the side of the building fixed up in a hurry.

I, too am wondering how Elvirus is going to frame JA & M for the stash of money. Don't understand how her mind works. If it were me, I'd keep it and spend it on shoes, hair extensions and lipstick--which she needs constantly.

If she just took the money and ran that would make some sense. However, she should invest that in getting a sugar daddy considering how fast she can go through money.

However, she won't have a chance.
