Qué Bonito Amor #77 (Mex 114) Wednesday 7/31/13 Wax On, Wax Off

El Lay prison – Michael's a bit disappointed to learn that Wendy's affection for him is only as surrogate father to her unborn baby.  Although she admires his work at the prison, she has to be honest with him – she doesn't love him. He's so in love with her that he's sure she will eventually learn to love him back.
Irasema urges Mancia to get an attorney or else Susie will surely end up in jail.  NOOOOO!!! Mancia comes to her senses and they rush out.

Meanwhile, Susanito is in jail telling his cellmates he's accused of murder but of course he's innocent.  The cellmates mock him.
Mancia comes crying to Amalia and tells her Susie is in jail, accused of killing Fabian.  Jantos and Maria arrive in time to hear this.
Fer and his Guitarra en Rosa – he flashes back to Siete Mares kissing Maria.  Siete Mares is outside with his zarape draped flask --- he's tuned in to the same flashback channel.
Mancia continues to cry about needing an attorney and unable to pay.  Maria says she'll help in any way she can.  Everyone tells her she's too weak to undertake this.  She tells them all she will be the good soldier and march forward.  She has to take back her life.
Gonzalo and Jennifer meet over a vintage LP.  She agrees to meet him for dinner.
Siete Mares visits Ana.  He apologizes for the kiss and brings a gift:  a bracelet?  He confesses he is falling in love with her.  Fer has the misfortune of overhearing this.  Ana starts to let him down easy but she spies Fer standing outside and goes on to tell 7Mares that she's tired of loving men and having that love go nowhere.  She's wasted 4 years being in love with Mil Amores.  7Mares asks her to give him a chance and Ana agrees, making sure Fer has heard this.  He has, and he's muy triste.
Maria knows she can defend Susanito if she can only find an official attorney to help her.  She goes off on her mission while Jantos stays behind with Amalia.  Isa comes running in with her buddy, who calls himself Jaliscito.  FF>>>
Paloma and Rodri comes back showing off the cash they've made selling candies.  Now they can afford Amalia's meds.  Jaliscito tells her he and Isa have them beat.  They've already come up with the cash.  Zzzzzzzzz
At the jail, Maria is pleading Susanito's case but is reminded she must be an actual lawyer to defend him.  In walks Luis – an old friend who happens to be a lawyer and is willing to help her.  Maria asks for all the evidence.  Luis backs her up.
Ruben shows up at the jail, faking concern for his dead friend Fabian.  He's sure Susanito killed him and demands justice!!  Maria catches him in saying he knows a man killed his friend when the cops have yet to say who killed Fabian.  AHA!  Ruben is flustered and tries to say an officer at the scene told him.  He takes a call, or pretends to.  As he's speaking, Irasema appears to recognize his voice from somewhere.
Gloria wants Rodri to be honest with her.  Did his father watch after him?  Rodrigo tells her Oscar threw him out, telling him to go with Jorge Alfredo if he liked him so much.  Gloria writes this off as jealousy.  She accuses Roddy of being selfish with his father.  She scolds him for his risky behavior.  She tells him to be a man and own up to his mistakes and apologize to his father.  Roddy doesn't want to hear this but Gloria insists.  He relents and asks her not to be angry with him.  She tells him the best we have in life is family.  She assures him Oscar loves him.  She wouldn't lie to him about that.
Oscar invites Fer to have some Quesas (quesadillas) to make up for his behavior.
Maria meets w/Susie.  She wants to know everything that happened.  He's very confused about what happened.
Jantos joins the Mendozas for dinner.  FF>>
JNTR – Jantos tells them Maria will defend Susie.  They agree to go visit him after tonight's show.  All for one and one for all.  Pochito sings “Amaneci en tus Brazos”  (I loooooove this song!)  When he finishes, he and Oscar exchange looks.  Colosso goes after him and slips on the waxed-up floor  whoopsie!  Fer knew it!  He knew someone had waxed that floor, causing Maria's accident.  There's a murderer loose!  Ruh-roh, Elvira is impactada.  Concho tries to pass it off as a joke so as not to alarm the customers.
At the jail, Maria Columbo pores over the crime scene photos.  Why are there two shell casings when there was only one gunshot?  Hmmmm?  After for what appears to be a long time, she bends over in pain.
Mirna taunts Elvira, “this is getting really good.  Everyone really likes Maria.  You'd look really bad behind bars.”  Elvira basically says that remains to be seen.  Ana overhears this conversation and wonders what's up?
Concho, Fer, and Jantos meet in the office.  Concho is pithed that Fer should suggest Maria's accident was a crime.  Jantos wonders why Fer would think that.  Fer explains the stage was never waxed in order to avoid just such an accident.  Elvira barges in and says he's exaggerating.  What happened to Maria was an accident – that's all.  Concho threatens to sue Fer if he continues to say Maria's “accident” was intentional.
At the jail, Irasema and Mancia see Maria in pain.  She explains she's feeling what seem to be contractions but she doesn't want to leave just yet.  She has a lot of work to do.  She explains about the two shell casings.
Ruben is in his car – bwa ha ha!!!  He figures Fabian's death will serve to bring him and Maria closer.
Mancia continues to cry and begs Irasema to try to remember who the voice belongs to!  Please! Maria tells her it's important for her to remember.  Susie faces up to 20 years in prison.  Yikes! No pressure.  Mancia continues to cry hysterically, “my son is innocent!  Waaaaaah  if he's convicted, I'll die!!!  Waaaaaaah”  Irasema is really trying to remember but she's really nervous. All the same she's willing to do anything for Susanito.
Concho wants them all to forget about the incident with the stage.  Elvira concurs, saying it would be best for Maria.  She's sure Maria doesn't want to remember that accident.  Fer and Jantos reluctantly leave, but not before Fer repeats that the stage had never been waxed in the past.  Never.
Concho is very proud of his daughter.  It's clear to him it won't be long before she can take charge of the bar.  Elvira flat out asks him if Susie is his son.  What if they insist on DNA tests?  Concho doesn't think Susie would dare.  Regardless, says Elvira, it would be best to be prepared because she's not willing to share the bar, her father, or the money.
Susie's cellmates continue to taunt him in jail
Fer continues to insist the stage was never waxed.  Jantos is convinced it was Elvira to get back at him for what he supposedly did to her.  He's sure she'll make a mistake sooner or later.

Amaneci en Tus Brazos (Jose Alfredo Jimenez)

Amaneci otra vez entre tus brazos,
y desperte llorando de alegra

me cobije la cara con tus manos,
para seguirte amando todavia
despertaste tu, casi dormida,
y me querias decir no se que cosa
pero calle tu boca con mis besos,
y asi pasaron muchas, muchas horas

Cuando llego la noche, aparecio la Luna,
y entro por la ventana
que cosa mas bonita cuando la luz del cielo,
ilumino tu cara

Yo me volvi a meter entre tus brazos,
tu me querias decir no se que cosa,
pero calle tu boca con mis besos
y asi pasaron muchas, muchas horas
y asi pasaron muchas, muchas horas...

Good work, Paquita. Lots of recitative and one aria.

I didn't quite get the thing about the shell casing, so thanks for that detail. It has to be the one from Ruben's gun, which will not match the gun at the crime scene.

Someone please give Mancia a tranquilizer.

I hope Ana says something to one of the guys about what she overheard. Both Fernando and JA know that Elvira is the only person with any motive to hurt Maria.

Ruben is delusional. I hope his in-laws are healthy so they can take care of his children.

Gonzalo and Jennifer? Please, a little help for the occasional viewer who can't place those names?

I think Jennifer works in the bar, but I don't remember who Gonzalo is.

A word of warning that there is probably a clumsy edit in tonight's episode.

gonzalo is the mariachi who is good at the rooster and horse calls. can't remember his stage name or instrument.

mai tai

Thank you Mai Tai!! Had no idea who these two were. I kept thinking they'd show them again during the episode. There are so many random scenes, it's difficult at times to make sense of this mess.

First we got extra time and part of a second episode now it looks like we are barely getting a full one. Lost 10 minutes at the start with 5 from the previous show and 5 of the prior episode. With all those commercials we also got a chopped up episode. Once we only got 3 minutes of the story. Really pithed me off and now I'm counting. SIGH end of rant.

Anyway who knew Maria had the smarts to look at the crime scene photos and pick up on what the cops didn't. I almost chocked laughing when she called Ruben on his statements and he desperately faked an incoming phone all. Obviously he doesn't know anything about Fabnot and Irasema so can't know she can bust him.

Poor Irasema, she's a nervous wreck and probably starving She was held captive, in the dark, not eating and terrorized and now Mancia and Maria want her to snap to it and remember where she heard Rubens voice.

I'm renaming Jalisquito Little Creep after that scene in the Mendoza house of Strays and Waifs. He's doing another one of his love songs and is crowding into Isa's private space. Predictably Amelia thought it was cute although to be fair to her a lot of people think the oversexualization of children is cute. Isa looked uncomfortable and like a good Papi JAntos looked displeased with this guy coming on to his little princess.

Elvirus stands on the edge of being busted and is busy lying her way out of it — for the moment. I'm glad Ana heard that exchange between Mirna and the murderer and I hope she tells Fernando. I do wish she would stop with the tit for tat high schoolish lets make my guy jealous behavior. She is using 7 Seas which is a dangerous thing to do when an alcoholic is involved.

Gloria gets more points for being a good parent, sitting Roddy down and talking to him about his behavior towards his father. He looked like a Jack in the Box keeping jumping up and having her force him to sit down and listen. Frankly I don't think Coloso deserves to have a good kid like him or a kid of any kind for that matter. Jeez he was still referring to Maria as his chiquita.

Wonder where Little Creep spends the night? At least he got a meal at the Mendoza;s.

The shorter the better for us. I think the screening room editors are just practicing for the chopped up version soon to be available from Am...zone for $14.95 (haha). It is obvio that they have left in too much filler.

(OT: I said haha because they have reduced AB to 15 hours--the equivalent of 3 weeks of nightly episodes.)

Paquita--You have done this QBA epi too much justice. You deserve a glass of Bailey's (hehe) to be raised and sipped in your honor.

This is the first time I've ever seen a lawyer (and Maria even isn't one) actually look at a police file closely. They put all that together in a nice binder in just a few hours???? Really. Man, I would hate to be arrested under Mexican laws (eg. Poor Capitan Mujerbait on Tempesbad).

I only heard one shot, too, from SusieQ. Did Rube finish him off after he was left on the floor? I only remember him running away when he heard Irasema yelling. Rube would really be dumb if he used a different gun. Why didn't he finish off SusieQ, too? Didn't the police arrest SusieQ on the spot?

About Maria's contractions, are we supposed to believe there is a live twin in there? Or were they just emphasizing that Maria was doing too much, too soon, or that her future as a mother (and her happiness) is still undetermined.

Re: Maria's calling Ruben on the perp. An easy out for him would have been to say, I assume it was a man, after all 95% of murders are committed by men, no? But I'll stick with Mejia's version if it helps Susie.

Gonzalo must be a fairly new recruit to the band. He definitely wasn't part of the originals. Mejia probably just slipped him in when Aventurero and Genaro left. Has anyone seen El Sonador, the skinny mustachio guy around?

UA--You are too funny, but sad about Ruben's children. Did I miss something or are you assuming wifey has gone completely bonkers?

Anita

I actually hate these shortened versions and for my taste of all the TN's currently on the air this is the only one that amuses me.

I too thought OMG a twin that the nitwit doctor never noticed and I'm pretty sure they didn't have time to do a D & C on Maria. On the other hand perhaps it was just one of those psychic things because she had her pain episodes just about the time the great wax job was discovered and Fernando went on the murderer rampage. Who knows and i've give up guessing. I just kick back with a glass of wine and let the insanity rip.

I think Ruben was taken off guard by Maria's questioning and didn't think fast — not a good sign for a lawyer even one who deals in real estate.

Thinking back on the shooting. Fabnot had a gun and was wrestling with Sue. Ruben came upon them unseen by either with his own gun since he obviously had planned to kill his erstwhile associate. A single shot rang out, stunned faces from the wrestling pair and down went Fabnot. I thought from the beginning that the only shot came from Ruben's gun not from Fabnot's so I too am now stumped over two shell casings.

The Godfather must be getting pithed since his associates keep killing their own partners and not getting him his money. I'm just waiting for th inevitable face off between OJ and Ruben.

Anita, Ruben's ex was bats**t crazy from the get go. She was probably justified in suspecting Ruben of fooling around because he probably has before. However, she refused to listen to Maria telling her that she never had anything to do with Ruben.

She hired the band and Maria for Ruben's birthday specifically to humiliate both of them. This was seriously loca because it exposed her own madness. Finally, when this didn't accomplish what she wanted she actually hired a young thug to kill Maria. That situation is still unresolved.

I saw the Mexican broadcast of last night's episode and everything was there.

Tonight's episode has an insert that should have been handled better, similar to a much earlier episode. Let's not dump on the actors for it because they did well with the scene.

Urban

Got me curious to see if we can pick up the insert in the episode. Did anyone catch the name of the coming soon novela they flashed on the scene last night? I'm really curious since all the current evening shows have some distance to go and two of them are still filming in Mexico.

Gonzalo isn't a new recruit to the band, he's always been there at the JNTR, since the beginnig. he's named El Bufalo and is played by Gabriel Navarro, who's the real dubbing voice in Jorge Salinas' singing parts.

La Mujer de Vendeval aired after Cachito de Cielo (110 episodes) in Mexico. It has 166 episodes. It is a remake of the Venezuelan telenovela Un Esposo para Estela.

Ariadne Díaz and José Ron star as the main protagonists, while Chantal Andere, Marco Muñoz, Manuel Flaco Ibañez and Florencia del Saracho as the main antagonists.

Wikipedia has all the spoilers so avoid that page.

A clue about tonight's episode of QBA: It aired in Mexico on March 28, 2013.

I'm trying to think of what they would cut out in AB, and I'm thinking they'll cut:

All the Ximena is shoplifting, gets busted & goes on the run storyline. Ximena will just show up.

The Agustina "I be selling insurance now" storyline, except very briefly

Irene & Tolentino will be cut

The Natalia/Yago will be cut down 97%

Probably the "Bruno is an abusive ex" storyline will be cut

Eleuterio (?) / Delores

The Hippolito / Piedad / Luzma's Dad / Piedad cancer scare storyline

Thirsty Girl (Mayalen)

Dante / Teresa

Aaron & his village

Back to QBA:

Why didn't Maria offer her legal skills to help Jorge Alfredo out of his mess?

We had 2 criminals popping up to see the effects of their crimes:

Elvira (at the hospital and barging into Concho's office after Fernando declared Maria's fall deliberate)

Ruben (popping up at the police station to make sure Susanito was under arrest)

I'm extremely, EXTREMELY curious to read comments about the insert in this evening's episode! :D

Other stuff from AB to be cut:

Iliana

Rocio's stroke & recovery (She'll just have a stroke & then show up at Yago/Natalia's wedding)

The virus storyline

Most of Alonso/Ximena

Osvaldo / Amanda

Yago wants to be a bullfighter

Miriam bakes cookies

Anon207- That would still leave a lot of stuff to cover to get down to 15 hours. The villainy of Isadora alone would take more time than that. Then add Dionisio too. I think most of the Cam-Dan love/kissing/cuddling scenes would be cut.

DCG: “I just kick back with a glass of wine and let the insanity rip.” OMG, amiga! You and me both! Too funny.

ITA that Maria’s pain was connected to what was going on in the bar and JA reliving her fall. Although I have to say that I do love the idea of a twin left behind, mainly due to its insanity.

I think the two guns went off at the same time and that’s why only one shot was heard. One shot hit Fabnot and I’m going to guess it was the one from Rub’s gun. The other shot from Fabnot’s gun that they were wrestling over went somewhere else and Maria has to figure that out. I figure the cops are too sloppy to figure out the shot that killed Fabnot didn’t come from the gun on the scene. They’d just assume that the gun and the corpse with the bullet hole were connected.

Anon207, I agree that criminals very often pop up to admire their handiwork. In fact, I think police know this and watch for them at the scenes of certain crimes, like arson. We can also add to your list Ruben showing up at the Mendoza apartment after he thought JA had been killed by his henchies.

BTW, I was rewatching an episode last night when Maria and JA were on the outs (once again) and I caught a detail I missed the first time around. JA come in to beg for forgiveness (once again) and Maria tells him she’s sick of him looking at her con ojos de borrego a medio morir. That’s it exactly! We’ve been calling it puppy dog eyes, but half dead lamb eyes is soooo much more descriptive.

I’ve seen some of the original QBA eppies online and blessedly they have cut some “comic” scenes with Pinchi and whatshisname, the other bartender. No complaints from me on that account.

Vivi, maybe they cut everything from AB EXCEPT the kissing and cuddling of Dan&Cam. Surely I wouldn't be the only person who'd buy 15 hours of that. ;)

It’s going to be tough going for me now that we are getting a ton more commercials and a ton more refritos and a ton less new story every episode. One thing this mess really had going for it was the long, uninterrupted stretch from 9:58 to about 10:35. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted.

Thanks, Paquita. You cleared up a couple of things I missed and had me chuckling as well.

Carolina

I agree the imposition of all those ads we didn't get from the beginning is annoying and break the flow of things. I think they are trying to get back on the usual 43 minute episodes so we're going to have to suck it up for at least the rest of the week. I really did enjoy the long stretches but I know the recappers are all probably thanking their lucky stars. Lots of ads, FF through Little Creep, the teens and Mancia's histrionics.

It occurred to me las night watching Irasema and Mancia being completely over the to that it might be bonding moment for them. The cops are probably thinking poor Susantio having to put up with this pair of crazies. LOL

Agreed. Irasema and Mancia seem to have forgotten their differences, at least for now. And those two would almost make a Mexican prison look appealing.

Well, ok, maybe not. But still. Poor Susie.

Carolina- I would certainly pay for 15 hours of THAT! :)

UA--Thanks for going back to the beginning, but I didn't forget everything related to Lorena, just in the last 2 1/2 weeks. I thought maybe something weird had popped up that made her certifiable and she had been sent off to the manicomio.

Anon207--Loved your list of what they probably will leave out of AB. Surely not The Voice and Izzy The Maimer. I'll buy 15 hours of Silvia and Cristian canoodling.

And AnonAnon--thanks for adding El Bufalo to my list of banda members. Don't know why he escaped my teclando mis elencos.

The edit I saw was not what aired tonight. More to the team later.
