CI, Cap. #94: Breaking News!! Rising Epidemic of Vengeance and Jealousy plagues the state of Tamaulipas

Confession: So I have not physically watched this Tn in over a week but thankfully I kept up with the recaps. You recappers are a million times better than the writers of this Tn so thanks for the laughs. Now on to the show…

Old
Wow…I barely recognize Simona. She doesn’t look to bad, perhaps a little too much makeup but this is a Tn so I digress. Anyway, Simona is angry because Octavio and Lucia hid the fact that MA is the new duena of his ranch. He promises that he will still marry her (sounds like this is an obligation…you put yourself there Oblivio! No one pushed you) and she should not worry. Simona is rightfully scared because she thinks MA has followed him back to the ranch and that he still has MA in his heart (well-done Simona…your brain cells are completely intact. If only you will follow that hunch and leave him be. He deserves no one!).

New
We have another jealous female, aka Esther, who questions JA about his whereabouts. She tells him that she knows that MA is the new duena of the ranch. JA looks busted but he tells her that he didn’t want her to know because she would act the way she is acting now. He informs Esther there is no reason for her silly jealousy. MA is like a sister and there relationship is only business. He tries a couple of “mi vida” and some hugs but Esther aint having it! (Ok…since when where they on good terms? I thought they were still running around in circles playing the  “you need to leave, this place is not for you” and “I love you, I will stay here until you believe me” game.)

Simona now has nothing better to do than worry about Octavio whereabouts. She thinks he has run off to be with MA. Ofelia, with a straight face, tells Simona that she should have faith in Octavio. Speaking of the man of the hour, Octavio walks in and Simona reprimands him about being late (She is way too clingy…its been like a day since you guys had this false relationship, calm down).  The most impressing thing about this scene: Octavio is actually working.  She later receives a call informing her that Octavio is finally divorced. Simona, who needs to take her excitement down a few notches, is all too excited to race out the door to deliver the good news.

Now that Octavio and MA are neighbors they will have convenient excuses to run into each other all the time. Octavio is talking to himself about all the things he can grow (why weren’t you like this in your ranch…are you channeling MA superpowers now?). MA comes and looks for trouble. She wants him to go to “her” house so they can talk. He is clearly not in the mood for games but as he walks away she pretends to feel sick (wow…. she is good).  Octavio wonders out loud what he feels for her and starts pouring out Hallmark sayings. Meanwhile MA smiles, knowing that she finally got to Octavio’s heart.  (I know I shouldn’t expect much from Octavio but I hope that if I pass out you do more than sit down and start reflecting on life, however pretty it sounds). He moves in for the kill and plants a nice big one on our “damsel in distress”. She finally comes to and innocently asks what happened. Octavio seems genuinely worried that she is no longer accustomed to the country life.  Just a second ago she was enjoying his cheesy words and kisses and now she is all too eager to leave. Octavio actually wants her to stay but she brings up Simona (must we have all the jealousy cards in one episode, writers?). Simona is different from MA he replies, She is not impulsive, and she does not have the hate and vengeance that MA has for him. He thinks that if they were together they would not be hurting each other so much (If this is what he said I beg to differ, they both act like 5yr old children). They kiss some more and Simona walks upon this scene. Instead of directing her anger at both Octavio and MA, she focuses on MA as she breaks it to both of them that there divorced is finalized. Octavio puts back on his stupidity cloak (was it ever even off??) and announces his happiness at the news. MA is clearly not a happy camper and tells them they need to meet with her soon because she want to set boundaries between their lands.

MA immediately runs home crying to a confused Santa. Santa wonders why this is affecting her so much when she goes on and on about her hatred for him. She gives MAvery good advice by saying if she loves him just kiss and make up and put all that revenge stuff behind (If only Santa! It would save us 60 episodes of schizophrenic, and nonsensical writing/editing). No way Jose, MA is too hurt to completely forgive Octavio.  Later we have a cute scene with MA relaying what happened on the ranch to Lupita. Lupita (she is sooo adorable!) looks like she could care less.

Twinsebio is just as creepy as his brother. He peers through Lucia’s window without saying a word. Lucia sees this and thinks she is going crazy. She wans to tell someone but she is afraid that everyone will call her crazy.  This feeling must not last too long because she later has a conversation with Simona and Ofelio. They discuss how its best to leave and vacation right after the wedding so MA will not be a distractor for Octavio.

Oh No! Lupita may be ill (I smell an obvious plot device to bring those two childish love birds together once again).

MA encounters Ewwsebio’s twin and gets a creepy vibe from. He asks her for a job as the headman of the ranch.  She already has JA as her right hand man but if he is looking for other work, he needs to question JA. Few scenes later we see him asking JA for work. Isn’t he lucky…JA has started planning construction for the school and church MA wants to build for the town.

Simona pays a visit to Esther. She basically wants the two to join forces to control MA. Simona is feeling very possessive of Octavio and she sees MA as a threat (rightfully so). Simona tries to make Esther jealous too since JA had a thing for MA is the past.  Esther does not look too pleased to be in on this scheme.  Clearly, Simona struck a nerve because she cries to Clorinda (??) about her jealousy. Clorinda tries to speak sense into her to no avail. Esther does raise a good point. If MA wants t get back at her she can easily do so by taking JA away from her. If that happens she prefers to die.
Lupita really does have a fever, which is making everyone in the house worry. MA out of desperation calls Octavio.  Simona picks up the phone and for a second I did not believe she would pass the phone to Octavio. MA informs Octavio that Lupita has a fever and she needs a doctor ASAP. He tells her to calm down that he will find a doctor. In the meanwhile, Octavio advises her to try and bring down the Lupita’s temperature with cold compresses. Simona tells him not to go that she will call a doctor. She thinks this may be one of MA false traps. However, she retracts her statements and tells him to go since he will not stop worrying unless he sees his child. Simona is not worried, she trusts him enough (ummm…did we both imagine the scene where he kissed his soon to be ex-mujer??).

MA is worried about Lupita and angry that Octavio has not even come to find out about Lupita’s well being. Finally, the doctor arrives and informs MA that Lupita will be okay. Just a small little infection but with medication, she will be find by tomorrow.

The next day, MA walks into Esther’s new digs and reminiscences about her old life.  Esther gets straight to the point in asking what does MA want with her. MA has told JA to build a nice place for them on the ranch. Esther, channeling her old safe, denies anything from her. She will not let MA extend her vengeance on her as well. MA tells her not to worry; JA is like a brother and would not do such a thing. They go back and forth about vengeance and how it will come back and bite her in butt. MA does not care, before that happens she will play around with Octavio heart before all is said and done (is that not what you have been doing for the past 40 episodes??).

Simona and Octavio share the delightful news of their upcoming marriage. Lucia is of course delighted; She would love to stay but she return to Miguel tomorrow. She goes and checks up on Miguelito and. …oh no he is doing  that creepy thing again! This time Lucia freaks out and starts shouting at him to leave her alone. That he provoked his own death and it is his entire fault what happened. The twinster just smiles sinisterly as as poor Miguelito cries loudly at the commotion (waking up from his Benadryl induced state must have made him cranky!).  Lucia works up enough nerve to throw something and realizes that he is not dead. The Twinster breaks it to her that he is Nazario (so that is his name), twin brother of Ewsebio. He wants to know where her husband is pronto! She feigns innocence but he tells her that he knows that Miguel killed his brother and he will be avenging his death.

Esther tells JA that MA came to visit her, She warns him not to get involved in her vengeance that she has changed and turned bad. She also causally drops another bomb…. she is pregnant again. This time she swears she will be healthy.

Al Fin
Octavio informs Simona of MA benevolent actions in the community, He wonders if they should contribute towards her cause. This does not put Simona at ease but she says whatever he wants or decides is fine by her as long as he is by her side. He timidly asks if she will reproach him for seeing his daughter. She is fine with everything, the only thing she prohibits : him getting close to MA.

Al Proximo
MA finds out that Octavio will be marring in the church. The both pine for each other at night (yawn!). Now to the more exciting stuff…Lucia is in a cab speeding like there is no tomorrow, I do not know what they are rushing to or running away from but it does not end good because the last scene shows Miguel screaming Lucia’s name in a hospital bed. Lucia is badly scarred and burned with the ominous flat line sound of the monitor harping in the background.

CeCe, did you watch it to write this recap?lol

Cathyx: and if I said no?

I have another easy way for you to determine whether I watched this show or not.

Do you find yourself rolling your eyes every two seconds or shaking your head because the characters are nonsensical. Does your blood boil every-time Octavio speaks nonsense,Do you often fill confused wondering if you missed a scene or two? Does your mind wander to the fashion choices of the characters as opposed to concentrating on what they are saying? If you answered yes to one ore more of these questions while reading the recap...then yup I watched the show! Lolol

Thanks for the recap. I did actually watch this one. I've been recap reading like you too, just to stay current.

So Simona trusts Octavio just after catching him kissing MC. Makes sense.

So is Navario's new nickname going to be Bazario? Did he just wait outside the bedroom window all day waiting for Lucia to show up? That was twice he did that.

A baby gets a fever. Quick, panic and call a doctor. Who does that? Babies get fevers often, only on a TN do you call the doctor for that. I kept saying to Juanita, pick her up, can't you tell she wants to be held?

CeCe, you're so funny. I say yes to all of those. And many times I don't even watch it.

Tks CeCe

Should someone with 1/2 impaired brain cell do medical diagnostics?
"You are not used to the country"
¿Qué what?

Cece, I also think it was a little strange for JA to be comforting Esther (mi vida?) when he had only just been telling her effectively that he never loved her, hated her school idea, and wanted her to leave. She should be more worried about that other girl hanging around.

And someone needs to get him to a basic health class -- he seemed very confused and shocked that she could be pregnant again! Maybe when "other girl" gives him the same neww, he'll finally put two and two together.

Thanks Cece. I watched this episode half way late so I missed the encounter kiss and unfortunately I erased my dvr. So what would I do without the recaps.
I all of a sudden had a feeling of deja vu when I watched Simona tell Octavio to go and look at his sick child.
Years ago, I was already married to my husband, when we met at the mall, my husband's first girl friend. So we just said hi and when we passed her, he was just looking back at her. I sounded like Simona, I told him to why not go back and talk to her to ask how's life going on with her since I said that he would not be able to stop thinking of how she could be. I told him I trust him and it's ok. He couldn't believe his luck and so, to make the story short, after that encounter they continued afterwards without my knowledge and lucky for me, that one tryst was the realization that he chose me instead of her. So that act of Simona is really credible at least for me.
Cece, I also answer yes to all of your questions. I feel totally like what you said.
I want to award the best baby actress to Lupita. She really was so good in this episode, I was alarmed truthfully that she was sick.
I also agree with Vivi that I wish they would stop screaming around these babies. Look at MInimigi.
I wish that there would really be good start of friendship between Esther and MC. I hate that Simona is beginning to show her true colors and whispering evil things to Esther.
Thank you for the advances, Good gift for my weekend. Must see TV then on Monday.

Loved how MA and JA met up with Twinsebio and neither questioned him, as in "Hey, you look just like this guy Eusebio who is dead. How weird is that?" MA/MC had a funny look on her face when he said his name to her (this episode or the last, it's so hard to keep track of the nonsense), but couldn't be bothered to say "Que the infierno is up with that". I know it's too much to expect these people to be that aware, but still.

At least they keep using each others first and last name so we don't get too confused. Thank you writers for that bit of courtesy!

Variopinta: I picked up one good thing from Octavio. Everytime he speaks, the minute it stops making sense (which is a lot), It goes in one ear and out the other.

daniala: I noticed his super confused look. It was making me confused at why he was confused...lol!

Vida2: Besides all of Lupita scenes (that baby is just too adorable!!), the only other cute scene was the kiss between MA and Octavio. They really do have good chemistry. Too bad they spend half the time hating each other or acting like 5yr old kids.

Thanks for recap.
They bring craziness from isla to rancho. Or things were always so crazy here?

About the reaction of Simona on the kiss. Once again they copy-past almost everything, but change behaviour of the protagonists. In Marimar they simply stood close to each other. No criminal. Reaction of Simona and all the dialogue with her is from Marimar. But here she saw a KISS. Or dear....
About the illness of the baby and Simona's action. At first she said to Octavio that he MUSTN'T go, because it's a tramp. And only then she said: oh, ok, you can go. Really? It was not about the trust. She didn't trust him, but she can press him by her "trust". That is why in the end of the episode he asked for permission to see his daughter someday in the future. WHAT??? She is not even his wife, but she will decide will he or won't he visit his baby. oh dear - 2.
Octavio, you miserable.

Cece: great recap! Thanks!

Cynderella

Vida2: I must know! Did your husband come to his senses before or after you chopped off his "little husband"?

Cynderella

Hats off CeCe. Great recap on sort of a bleh episode. I guess we have to put up with MC making the rounds to let everyone know she is still out for vengeance. I think everyone has been covered, so maybe we get real plot movement now.

Poor Tav...frankly this poor tweeb can be played by just about everyone, especially if they don a maxi skirt. He must have been lacking any female guidance growing up because he has no clue and no ability to say no. Well, for that matter, Miguel is the same, so at least the money writers are consistent with the Brothers Brainless.

Agree: When did JA and Ester make up? Hello?????? Or the man had some brain cells working...sleep on dirt or sleep with your wife on a comfy big mattress.

MC really is clueless with her own child. Guess when all you do is spend the quality Lady Grantham hour ( bow to Downto n Abbey)with your child, you don't learn the little foibles of their ups and downs. I would have LOVED to have the doc look at her and say " Uh, she's teething?"

Surprised they revealed the big bang with Lucia coming up. Fire for fire...not surprised on that anvil. But will it do her in like Gramps? Little surprised if they take the female baddie this early, but as Roggggerrrr says in PEMA, Juarever!

Daisynjay

Bazario. Funny! I kind of wish that she didn't know that he was real! That was awesome when Lucia believed that she was being haunted.

Cynderella

Excellent recap, CeCe, excellent. Very funny and totally accurate. I'm impressed that you haven't actually been watching the episodes and are relying on the recaps to keep up.

I thought that all this time while Ester keeps saying that she will give him more children who are strong and able to survive the harsh life in the countryside, he keeps saying that he won't let that happen. So now she's pregnant again? I guess that an important detail was omitted from the biology lessons she gave him. What a doofus.

Has anyone else asked himself how it is that so soon after brain surgery Miguelito has a full flourishing crown of curly locks?

It looks as though Maricruz has totally committed to this new fashion style. I thought that she had said awhile back that she was going to get some nifty riding attire... I'd be happy with some tight jeans. Though the ladies at the office tell me that these short front/long back skirts are the latest thing here... I'm not a fan.

My favorite outfits right now are the cute little sun dresses that Ofelia wears though I admit that Lucía's style is elegant and gorgeous even if not entirely suited to the milieu.

Carlos

thanks, Cecelia.

....and so...The crazy continues in the country. We are not surprised.

It appears that Simona's makeover included an inner makeover, as well. However, she was nicer before she became prettier on the outside. Que lastima. As my mother always warned...pretty is as pretty does.

Carlos...Maybe Baby Mig got the good wig.

Sorry..Ipad decided that you were "Cecelia" even though typed "Cece."

New theory. The writers have had enough of this and they're doing producing scripts round-robin. Each time a new writer starts up, they barely glance what has already been written and start scribbling right away, while occasionally consulting sketchy summaries of Marimar and La Venganza.

That would explain how JA is now worried about Ester being jealous, while in some alternate universe, where people behave in rational ways and remember what they did and felt the day before, he would instead be relieved about her being unhappy and would take advantage of this to get her to leave.

On the other, we have Simone's even more puzzling behavior, in which in a single episode and a single day she goes from witnessing a passionate kiss between Octavio and MA to assuring Octavio she has complete trust in him. So now we know that each writer is handing off the script to a new writer midway through an episode, and that the new writer does not deign to even glance at the scenes that have already been written for the episode.

I can picture the whole thing, how it looks at the studio. Rene Strickler is the only cast member who has figured out that he has to bribe an ever-changing stable of writers to give him an actual character to play ("Just write Miguel drunk and weak, that's good, that's good, I'll fill in the rest"), while the other actors are haplessly turning the pages of each script to find out what absurdities they have to say in the next scene. And clearly the very gifted costume director of the Isla Dorada scenes quit in disgust, to be replaced by some talentless hack who never got over not being hired for The Avengers.

Thanks CeCe,(awesome for not having watched for a weeki!) and thanks la Paloma for your excellent recap yesterday.

Haven't seen this but will try to get to it before the weekend is over.

I'm with Carlos in that the mullet skirt is most unattractive and impractical. All the teenagers are wearing them here of course.

Carlos, if you're a fan of tight jeans you must be loving Ursula over in la Tempestad!

JudyB/Carlos: I must say I have a mullet dress (gasp!) but I have always been guilty of liking trending things :)

Utah Desert: "Just write Miguel drunk and weak, that's good, that's good, I'll fill in the rest"
LMAO!! I love your theory. I think you are on to something.

Cathyx: Bazario... Good one! It seems like he and his brother inherited the ability to always have free time on their hands.

UtahDesert- - DITTO DITTO DITTO!!! Or should I say Meija Meija Meija! That explains pretty much most of what we are dealing with.

Carlos, I was questioning most of what has been happening in the last episode or two and then just reminded myself: sit back, enjoy the madness and just go with it.
Mrs. Meija probably forgot to hire a continuity editor.

Daisynjay

Cece, thank you for the entertaining recap. I enjoyed the episode in spite of all of its inconsistencies.

I think that Simona is so desperate and now determined to have Octavio as a husband (since he made her the offer) that she will overlook most anything to get married and stay married. She will put up with a lot and fight b because he, as a good looking man, is a status symbol she thought she could attain. Too bad Octavio with his baby face is just making her look older even after the makeover. What is with Simona's two color hair? Did they just stick an auburn wig over her black hair so that the black sticks out in the back? LOL

Jarifa

How does Nazario know that Miguel killed his hermano ?? I thought that nobody knew except Lucrazia, Miguel, and dead Ewww. Was Nazario hiding in the bushes while Eww attacked Lucrazia ??

Simona saw The Big O and Mari kissing , but she still trusts him ? What? Did he tell her that he was giving the lovely Mari mouth-to-mouth resuscitation ?

I was very excited to get the recap
this afternoon {thank you] and then----Right up front, I read--Since when were they on the mend?
Wrongo Bongo. CeCe, you need to start watching a little more often.
Things had been very rough between JA and Ester but lately things between them have been looking better.
Daisynjay---I dissagree. Again I say that as of late, it looked like things were improving between them. There's been so much negativity and channel changeing going on that I think that some of you are missing things.

Daniela---Yes JA said that he didn't love her but---That was in the heat of battle. Often times during moments like that, people say things that they don't mean and are sorry for later. As I just said, it looked as though things were improving between the two of them.

And now---A HEADS UP, for all of the whiners, complainers, CI haters
and those that want to sue Televisa
for making bad novelas. I just got an email from a friend in Mexico. He told me because of the GREAT POPULARITY of CI, the writers had been asked to extend the story---you guys may have already known that, but---because of the pressure
and time constraints they were under, the extensions were poorly written [and you guys thought that all of it was poorly written] and for the most part, ridiculous. I can hear the cries now, FIRE THEM,
FIRE EM ALL, this is the worst I have ever seen---well, I don't care what you guys say, I'm not going to let you ruin it for me. I'll stand fast. If Maricruz can take on half of Tamaulipas, I will
take on half of Caray, Caray if need be.
I have to get some work done, so more later---if anyone cares.
the gringo

Simona was always the same person as we see her now. She didn't do nothing bad as Lucia, but she was always on her side. And for being a good person it is not enough not to bad things. You should do something good. What did Simona do? Nothing. Ok, she was with her Lucia in capital, but she didn't even give the money for the operation. it was MC, who give that money. And now, when Octavio said, that MC wants to built a church and a school she only said, that they will send their children to that school. Right, MC will spend her money for good things and good and rich Simona will use them. Ok, she never thought to build church, for example. But why not help now with the money? If she is soooo good.
And it was awful, that she came to Esther to said that awful things about MC.
Alegria

Alegria...Good point. I guess Simona was never a good person. She was just a quiet, mousy person and not completely crazy and nasty mean like Lucrazia.

Thanks again to all the recappers for providing hilarious and detailed recaps! I have not been able to watch the show not because of its silliness (ok...maybe that is 1/10 of reason) but mostly because school + research is taking up 95% of my time, which leaves very little time to feed my TN addiction :/

Alegria: You are right. Simona has always walked a fine line due to her inaction. She did try and take action once. Like when she tipped the police that The Navarez (or Lucia specifically...cant remember) had something to do with the fire hat lead to the death of Abuelo.
However, I still think that makeover has made her nasty side come out more.

Gringo: Calm down, do not take us so seriously. As much as I complain (and I love to complain), this TN still has good qualities like the good acting, pretty clothes and ummmm....well u get the point :)

I still tune in to find out what crazy things will happen next. This TN is so campy that it sets itself up for it to be poked fun of...our mockery is all in good fun! Cant wait for more Venganza Monologues and new characters that will probably be underutilized...lol!

CeCe, I think, that she did it only because Lucia called her ugly and that was her revenge. And then she came with the flowers to her best friend like if nothing was said and done.
It's a shame, that in the place, where so many rich people live there is no church, for example. We saw in the first episodes that Simona visited some poor house which is used as a church. She is sooooo rich, so why not build it for your own use? It's simple, no one is goon enough to spend their money for someone else.
Alegria

Gringo,
I admire your dedication.

Don't forget the quotes on our opening page, especially the 1st one

"We love to mock here, don't mistake it for real hate." -- Chris Ferro
"Come, let us gather together and suffer, sisters and brothers." -- Alice
"This has got to be the sappiest, most mindless piece of crap that Televisa ever came up with!
Yet the recaps are hilarious and priceless!" -- riberajoe

I'm not sure whether to be annoyed or grateful that we were deprived of the scene in which Ester's latest embryo was kindled.

"I hate you. You're too weak to live here."

"Well I love you and plan to stay no matter what you think."

"OK, since you put it that way... let's boink... but don't go gettin' pregnant."

"I love it when you talk sweet to me like that."

Carlos

Thanks Ceve for a great recap

I was always a woman who thought a handsome face and a hot bawd could trump any character flaw a man had. (what a fool!) How ever Tav refusal to go next door to see after his sick daughter really turned me off of him. What a Pu**y whipped jerk.

I agree that all the screaming around th little ones is sickening. Poor little Minimigi looks terrified most of the time. Shame on the writers for doing this.

OOOOPS, Sorry Cece for misspelling your name

Oblivio is like a beautifully wrapped gift box....with nothing inside. To quote Carlos....NEXT. !!!!! Once again, as in Simona's case, pretty is as pretty does...and pretty boy Oblivio doesn't DO anything except forget things and look confused...oh yes, and he's a good kisser, but as the Pa. Dutch say, "Kissin' don't last; cookin' do.". Maybe he should learn to cook. In fact, I would be running away from all the loser dudes in this show. The only guy I can stand in this novela is Tobias...He's a guy who gets things done. ...and I'll bet he can cook.

Why do you keep harping about the writers of this TN? Heads up: As a budget move all the writers have been fired and the actors have been told to make up their own lines, witness Miguel's stellar performances. Other casualties of Meija's overspending on the Isla (renting that cruise ship which holds over 3500 souls who don't gamble didn't come cheap) are continuity and costuming staff, the non-existent roles of the early characters e.g.,Solita, the monkey, etc.

Carlos..I think the magic moment might have been just after Lucia came bearing furniture. JackAss was so excited about having a chair and a chest of drawers in his hovel that he cast caution to the wind , and they did it right on top of the colorful bedspread. With all the decorating of the hut and the hacienda, I sometimes feel as if I am watching HGTV.

Susanlynn I agree with all you said. Tobias is only the real man on the TN. Loved your comment about kissin' and cookin' Used to think JA was kind of cute little bumpkin, but he too disgusting

I'm wondering what happens to the shack when the rains come?

Maybe Ester should work on plugging up the numerous holes.

This is the 1st time I've seen Daniel Arenas. He is so stupid in this part that I don't even find him attractive.

Tobias is the man!

One interesting detail about the writers. Since we say in avance, that Lucia will die, it is not now a spoiler.
So, the fact is, that this character died in the original novela only because the company had problems with an actress. So she simply disappeared this way. Romero was so lazy, that decided to kill her in Marimar and here also. But with this death we have one big problem - we have no villains on rancho. So now he will make villains from that characters, that were not may be so bad.
And one more thing. What we saw in this episode we can see in the episode #69 of Marimar. Marimar has only 74 episodes.
Alegria

Cece- Great recap! I still haven't seen the episode, and frankly I think I'll only watch the kissing scene and skip the rest. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I was so confused reading that Mari and JA both speak to Twinsebio about giving him a job, without asking his name or why he looks just like Ewsebio. WTH?!

I was also confused to read that Ester is pregnant again. Gringo- They were only on good terms with each other ONE episode, the last one. And for much of that, JA was lying to her. That's probably why he was nice to her, because he knew her was being a bastard lying about who his new boss is. I guess you all are right, that JA just doesn't understand how babies are made. Or maybe he was sleep-humping? He'll probably blame Ester for getting herself pregnant.

Susanlynn- Everyone knows Miguel killed Ewsebio. Remember that little talk with the police chief Lucia had, after Miguel has fled, where she basically said, "Yeah my husband shot Ewsebio. So what?!" Miguel is officially wanted by the law, hence he can't return to Tamaulipas, and is afraid to go anywhere else in Mexico (like D.F.). He's safe on Isla Dorada because apparently, it's like it's own little country.

If Nazario is working on Rancho el Abuelo (Mari's new name for the ranch), then I definitely don't want Solita going there. She doesn't deserve that kind of trauma.

And when the hell is Mari going to take some initiative and name her nephew? Given Solita's lack of reading, writing and signing skills up till now, she likely hasn't had a real concept of names. I would think if Mari explained what their grandpa's name was, Solita would be all for naming him Ramiro.

Alegria, thanks so much for that information about Marimar and La Venganza! I don't know how others feel about it, but when I have that kind of information--an explanation for the absurdities--it makes it easier for me to buckle my seatbelt and hang on for the wild ride.

So in the version before last, Lucia died mid-show for casting reasons, and as a result she also dies at random moments in Marimar and in CI. Kind of reminds me of the story of why the home cook cuts off the end of her pork loin before roasting it. (She does it because her mother always cut the end off, and it turns out the mother did that because her own mother always did it that way, and when they call up the grandmother and asks why, they're told: "Oh, I had such a small oven--I had to cut off the end so it would fit.")

And I also like the idea that they now have to make other, perfectly innocent characters villains in order to fill in the gap. Honestly, I like that. I like the idea of this story (since I'm no longer emotionally attached to any of the characters) twisting in the breeze and contorting itself to fit these various arbitrary requirements. Surely most people here have read Vargas Llosa's "Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter," right?

With the gold and diamonds that are supposedly in the Realengo, opportunities for villains will crop up all over the place.

Mari was shocked at Nazario when she first saw him, but he immediately told her he was Eusebio's brother. She said, somewhat under her breath, "Parece el mismo" or something like that. They didn't show JA's first meeting with him, so his reaction was not shown. By the time they show the men together, he (JA) has already given him (Nazario) the job.

I just want to know how Maricruz rode a horse in that mullet dress. Did she drape the back of the dress over the back of the saddle? Or maybe she rode sidesaddle?

Aleta, I was asking that when she rode wearing that white tattered dress when she was poor. I called it the magic dress.

Just now got around to reading the recap. Great job, Cece, as always.
I haven't been watching at all since I came back from my vacation, except for the shows I have to recap myself. Reading the recaps keeps me well informed (and entertained), so my brain is spared of some of the idiocy. But all the mullet dress made me watch again :)
I actually like it, (I think I am the only one). It could be because the first time I saw it, it was worn by Bianca from Pasion Prohibida - and in my eyes she could do no wrong when it came to clothes.
BUT, not all body types can pull it off elegantly - the key word here being elegant. I wanted to buy one this spring, but I'm short, I looked like a hot mess in it. Monica Spear (Bianca) is tall and her character lived in a fancy mansion and always dressed like she was getting ready for the runway. Ana Brenda is shorter and MC lives in a ranch. Her fancy cocktail dresses worked much better on the island, because she spent most of her time on a luxurious boat.

So if you buy a mullet dress and you want to wear it at the mall or while you ride a horse (WTF!) - no bueno...

Adriana and Cece- We have all worn trendy styles, especially in our teens and twenties, that in hindsight (and those blasted pictures) we can tell weren't really that flattering. But who cares! You're young. You're good looking. You can get away with anything and still look cute. So go ahead and buy those mullet dresses. 10-20 years from now, you can be like the rest of us and wonder, "What was I thinking?" :)

everyone has mentioned or talked about Octavio's lack of memory, his forgetfulness from one day to the next is obvious to everyone. I say it's not his fault. Most everyone of us has some physical abnormality of one kind or another.
Yes he has a problem but I blame Dr. Carlos. Dr. Carlos, you never gave/sent him a prescription for memory enhancers. What's up? Why no action on your part. Do you want Octavio to suffer with his memory loss all the way through this novela?
the gringo

Perhaps Octavio could take Ginko Biloba. That's a natural supplement that is supposed to aid in increasing ones memory.

gringo,

One of the biggest problems we physicians face is patient compliance and cooperation. Imagine the problem we face with memory enhancement pharmaceuticals... first and foremost the patient must... wait for it... REMEMBER to take the medication.

Carlos

I guess that I don't need any Ginko
Biloba as I faithfully remember to turn on Corazon Indomable every Monday through Friday at 7:00 PM.

In Friday's episode it was said that the divorce had been granted. Wasn't Mari fighting that? Don't both parties have to sign the paperwork? What if Mari refuses to sign, what then?

A church wedding for Simona and Tav? Is that possible in the Catholic church? Tav will be a divorced man, wouldn't they have to have a civil wedding?

Many novelas have a Boda Interruptus. If the wedding actually takes place, it would be the perfect time for Maricruz to run down the church isle screaming
NOOOOOO!!! I'm not trying to make light of this but I do think that Mari would try to stop it in some way, any way possible. Of course for Mari's sake, I hope that Oblivio comes to his senses and doesn't go through with it.
the gringo

gringo, Octavio and Maricruz had only a civil wedding, so now he or she can have wedding in the church with someone else.
Alegria

Alegria---Ok, they had a civil wedding so now they can be married
can have a church wedding---Catholics frown on divorce, I am surprised that they would allow that. Even if they do, wouldn't Maricruz have to sign the divorce document? what if she refuses to sign?
the gringo

gringo, I don't now what to say about the papers. May be they signed them already and now were waiting for the judge decision.
Church against divorces if there was a church wedding. In the eyes of the church they both now free to do what they want, because they were not married.
Alegria

MariCruz was fighting the divorce at first, but the last thing she did was suddenly drop all her demands (including child support) and told her lawyer to rush the divorce through so she could marry the Gov. She never went back to the lawyer (that we saw) to tell him "never mind" so she's stuck with the divorce. I'm sure when she was rushing it she signed the papers.

Cathyx:
Octavio DID buy Ginko Biloba, but he forgot what it was for!

So Maricruz made a tactical error and gave her lawyer the ok for her divorce. Big regrets now as witnessed by her tears Friday night. Come up with a plan---come up with a plan Super Mari, you're gonna need one because Simona will fight like a lion to keep what she now has.

Nazario---This guy is turning out
to be a mystery. What is he up to?
Ok, he is out to avenge his brothers death but Miguel murdered him and Miguel isn't there any more
so what is this guys plan? Since Miguel is gone, would he go after Octavio instead? Any thoughts or is it to early?

I reread the recap about the visit that Maricruz paid to Ester. Simona is trying to influence Ester away from Maricruz but I think that there is hope that the two of them might be able to come up with an agreement to work together. I hope that this can be the case. One good thing that appeares to be coming is that one of Mari's strongest foes Lucifer, will not be around to cause any more trouble. Mari needs an ally, could it be Ester?
the gringo

If Lucía dies in one of the next couple of episodes, Maricruz would be wise to reconsider this whole vengeance thing. I'd think that her death coupled with Eusebio's demise should pretty well settle all accounts. If someone thinks that Maricruz should continue this vendetta against Octavio, Miguel, Simona, Ester, and whomever else she thinks might have offended her, please remind me of their crimes.

I would like to see the writers bring Solita and Lina together and allow them to develop a bond of friendship and trust between them. Wouldn't it be heartwarming to see the two of them riding a couple of beautiful horses or going for a swim together in that pond? Maybe Monktavio could be something of a catalyst for their friendship.

Carlos

Carlos, Octavio married her for improper reasons and then didn't defend her against Lucia.
With Solita unable to speak, and Lina unable to see, I think a relationship between them would be next to impossible.

Carlos- I also don't feel that all this vengeance is worth it if both Ewsebio and Luciafer are dead.

The others are guilty of weakness and pettiness, but that's not enough to make your whole life about revenge. The two who committed the real crimes of murder and mayhem would be gone. Even if they turn Simona a raging beyotch because she's jealous, it just seems lame to me. Perhaps if they have Simona commit murder or attempted murder, or try to frame Mari or Solita for a crime, then I'd feel differently.

cathyx,

In TNs, I thought that marrying for improper reasons is more or less the norm.

As for the friendship between Lina and Solita, it's the obstacles and challenges in the way that would make it special.

Carlos

Cece this was hilarious from the title to your commentary. And your gauge for whether or not someone has seen the show was spot on.

I have to share the commentary when I was watching this with friends. First they keep commenting on how Simona was too old for Tav (I don't think she looks that much older than him) and then on MC's handling or lack thereof on Lupita. The latter comment had me laughing b/c I've heard others complain how ABC holds poor Lupita.

Variopinta - DA was actually cute and funny in "Amorcito Corazon"

if only Mari could forget about revenge and put all that energy into helping the people around her by building a school, hospital, etc. Also, she has lost precious moments with Solita and Baby Nameless. Make haste; the golden moments fly, Mari. TickTock goes the mortal clock. However, that would make for a very different type of telenovela.

I cannot believe that the writers have killed off a main villain (Ewwy) before his victim had a chance to see the piecart hit him , and it looks like the main villain Lucrazia is going to get an early anvil, too. Odd. Usually , the big baddies are causing trouble to the bitter end before they are eaten by coyotes, buried alive, left to wander blind in the desert, or have lost several body parts along the way.

OK. I'm watching the episode now. Simona's non-reaction to catching Mari and Tav making out was odd.

Mari's hand jewelry, the ring attached to the bracelet, is pretty, but impractical for riding a horse. But, so are those skirts, so, oh well!

Lupita is so adorable. The camera crew must have just waited around until she started crying from hunger and want of changing or being hugged.

For me, this novela is getting so interesting I can hardley stand it.
I LOVED it from day one but now I am on pins and needles as the plot/
story moves along.

Expanding on what Carlos said.--- EWWsebio is dead, a #1 baddie but now we have his brother out looking
for revenge. Ok, we don't know where that is going at the moment.
Lucia/Lucifer---It looks like she is either going to be killed off or
sent into a condition where she recieves her reward/karma for her past actions and will no longer be a part of Maricruz's vengeance. Lucia was also a #1 baddie but will
no longer be active so that leaves us with secondary people in Mari's plan of vengeance. Miguel--Remember
that it was Miguel that riped into Tav [in front of Mari in their bedroom at the rancho]] for marrying "a savage." Tav weekly defended her but it was after Mari had already run out. So she does have vengeance against Miguel but Miguel has his own problems [on the run for murder] and he gambled away the ranch, so Mari is probably finished with him.---Next
we have Ester. Ester was mean to Mari but did nothing serious to her. Also Ester is now married to Ja, mari's friend So I don't see any vengeance coming her way. Actually they "may" become partners
in some way, maybe the new school.
That leaves Tav. Mari loves him deeply but also hates him for the way he treated her. I don't thing that she has anything bad planned for him that is unless he goes through with a mirrage to Simona, then all bets are off. So that leaves no one left in the plan of vengeance. AHHH---But could Simona
become a new victim for Maricruz? I say yes, if she marries Octavio.
We could be starting down a completely new road out in Tamaulipas, so we will have to stay tuned in to find out.

Carlos also mentioned Lina and Solita, there are possiblities there.

Carlos---one last thing. Maybe Octavio did forget to take his medicine as prescribed.

@Susanlynn: As Alegria already pointed out, after the Lucia character died in Marimar there was only one week left before the finale of that version, so they didn't exactly kill her off too early. So, in C.I., to paraphrase "The Wizard of Oz", we are not in Marimar territory anymore after Lucia dies. From then on, C.I. goes back to plot elements seen in La Venganza but not in Marimar. However, its important to note that La Venganza was only about 60 episodes long, even shorter than Marimar. So neither of those two versions were long enough to have the circular plot devices, repetitive dialogue and "holding patterns" that C.I. has, nor the unending number of new characters that come and go without reason. In terms of acting, though, I still rank C.I. WAY ahead of Marimar because the acting in that one was just plain awful across the board, largely due to its crappy director Beatriz Sheridan.

Thanks CeCe for the great recap. I loved the title. Your check-off list on whether you watched the show--it made me giggle!

I caught up this afternoon. Concerning wardrobe--I disliked the outfit MC wore walking down the driveway, but agree it had a superhero (or dominatrix) look to it that may have been deliberate. The other two hi-lo outfits were softer and prettier and MC wasn't wearing heels so I was fine with them. I don't understand though why these shows frequently take one style or look and beat us over the head with it (e.g. Juanita's jacket tied around her waist all the time! or belly button exposure in LQNPA). The Isla Dorada fashion show was so much fun.

I don't think it would be that difficult to ride a horse with that skirt. MC's short white dresses would be more of a challenge.

I was disappointed in the Ester/MC meeting. MC came in pretty neutral and I felt Ester was confrontational and unpleasant with her. I know Ester was jealous and afraid of losing JA (for some reason) but there was no acknowledgment or remorse on Ester's part for treating MA the way she had early in the show.

BTW, I was one of the ones that earlier in the show was in favor of a JA/Solita pairing. Despite JA's improved attitude in this last one episode, I truly see the error of my judgement!

I am SO sorry to see EewwwseDOS (thanks Carlos) again. I just hate him.

Not only do I think Oblivio has something that makes women who kiss him lose a part of the reasoning portion of their brain and become obsessed--he has some ability to make his kisses with MC invisible. Think back to Tav and MA kissing for a long time on the dance floor at Karim's party. There was virtually no fallout with Doris (or the Guv) over this kiss. That was strange too.

It was really nice to see MC have an honest, happy smile this past week when she first met with Santa and JA. It made me realize how much I had missed it.

I am probably in the minority here, but a couple times this week I felt sad for MC. After she confronted Tav as the new owner of the ranch and they begin to argue on the porch, I felt she was really confused and uncertain about what and why she was doing what she was doing. That scene along with the one where she is crying to Santa (who is trying to get her to see reason) made me feel that she was a victim to feelings inside her she couldn't control and was scared and afraid of them as well. This is a new view of her after we have only seen her so determined and single-minded during her Venganza Monologues.

Barbara

Lucifer on fire? I cringe at the thought of it. Burns are the most horrible and the most painful things that can happen to the human body. It is easy to despise Lucifer for the things that she has done but I wouldn't wish that on anybody. And then I think of Don Ramiro, that was so cruel. I think that Solita was meant to die also so the car accident and fire that is coming on Monday is fitting for her. The previews show
Lucia in the hospital after the accident. My guess is that the hospital bills are high. $$$ I guess that the money from the sale of the ranch will be gone soon. With Lucia and Miguel both out of the way, I believe that Mari's rage will turn towards Simona. Are there any differing opinions from you guys? What do you think?
the gringo

Barbara- I would actually say both Mari and Ester were at fault for how badly that conversation went.

It starts with Mari just entering Ester's home, without knocking. (Not polite.) Mari says hello.

Ester, who has yet to see Mari 2.0, says she assumes she's MC. Mari says she's right, then goes on to rudely point out that the furniture in Ester's home was once at the ranch. Ester says she's right, but not too long ago they were living out of boxes.

Mari condescendingly says this life is a big change for Ester. E proudly says she chose it for love. Mari says it looks like E's love is more of a punishment. Then goes on about how she happily grew up in a shack like this. Ester proudly says JA built it for her. JA says that soon they'll be living in a much nicer house on her lands. Ester refuses. She doesn't want to be easy pickings for Mari's hatred.

Mari says she will leave Ester out of the revenge, although E deserves it. E says she acknowledges that. But now that she sees Mari is filled with so much hatred, her regrets have diminished.

MA then says she can do with JA, whatever she wants. (Just how is a wife supposed to take that?!) Ester asks that same question. Mari denies she means anything by it, and that she and JA are like siblings. Then the conversation degrades further with Mari claiming she can take Tav away from Simona anytime. Blah, blah, blah.

So you see, not exactly friendly on either side.

Gringo- Mari's rage has already turned towards Simona. Just like her hatred for Doris, it's all about jealousy of Tav. Really, most of her energy has been used up trying to keep Tav married to her, single and/or tied to her. Anyone who gets in the way of that will be a target of her hatred, and vice versa, since these women become equally obsessed with Tav.

That sentence should read: Mari says that soon they'll be living in a much nicer house on her lands.

Thanks, CeCe. This was a busy weekend and I'm just now coming to tell you it was a very entertaining recap.

If the first arc of MariCruz' vengeance is almost complete (Los Narvaez' land taken by MC, Miguel exiled and Lucia injured/dead), I'd like to see her move on to round 2.

She could defend her land and the neighboring territory from the forces who want only the valuable minerals. She could help the poor people who live there. She could hire an actual contractor to build the nursing home/school/hospital complex.

She could learn more about managing the riches she has and dealing with her emotions. That would be too logical, wouldn't it?

These endless cycles of anger and argument give us drama, but no real forward movement. I'd even settle for some happy times with Solita, Tobias, and the babies.

Vivi, Thanks for the clarifications. It is true that I may have substituted what I felt might have been said when I really don't now what the heck was really said.
For example, I am still struggling with the translation of or what was meant by,

"No se ve nada mal aqui".

MC says this right after she observes the furniture used to be at the ranch (which I don't think her tone seemed rude, more conversational).

MC didn't knock but she stopped at the threshold of the open door and greeted Ester from the doorway.

When MC told Ester she had requested JA build a nicer house for them on her land, I thought Ester rudely replied it would be a house she would never live in.

After that, it's true, things deteriorated further as Ester insults MC, especially bringing up how Tav is marrying Simona, a woman of his class. MC is arrogant saying she could have JA do as she pleases (not that she is insinuating that she looks at him as anything more that a brother) and that Tav is hers as she wants, blah blah.

However the conversation started out, it didn't end well and I was disappointed. I was hoping MC and Ester would be friends. LOL!

Barbara

I'm sure, that MC full of anger only because all this "Narvaez family" are insisting that "no regrets". They ruined her life and life of her sister, killed her grandpa and stll no regrets? As for me. it doesnt matter how evil MC become, they MUST say "sorry". But they still think, that MC is a garbage, so she deserved all that.
MC wants to forget and forgive, but it's not easy to do, when no one feels sorry. Even more, they still proud of what they did. May be only Octavio feels bad, but he is sooo weak and do everything others asked him to do.
And MC hasn't any friend and relatives who can help her. Yes, she has Solita, Santa or Juanita. But Solita is not a good adviser and Santa and Juanita don't know her full story. MC is sola and it's realy sad.
Alegria

Barbara- It means, they don't look so bad here.

Mari actually did step into the house. She did not wait on the other side of the threshold.

Santa knows Mari's whole story. She knew more than Mari did at one point, when she figured out Ramiro's death was murder, and also that Ewsebio had been messing with Solita, which Mari still doesn't know. Mari now has quite a few people she can confide in and get advice from. It's up to her if she chooses to do so, but she's moving a little closer by actually speaking with her friends.

Thanks, Vivi! Se and ve having more than one meaning or verb tense really had me unsure!

Barbara

Alegria, I totally agree with you. I would also add that Maricruz is very young without much education or experience beyond where she was raised or lived.
The action of the telenovela has occured in less than 2 years and look at all has happened to her.

Jarifa

CEce: Thanks for a fun read. Here are a couple of my favorites from this one:

"starts pouring out Hallmark sayings" LOL!

"60 episodes of schizophrenic, and nonsensical writing/editing" --

"Twinsebio/Bazario" = both apropos appellations!
=====
Emeraldrose:

"What a Pu**y whipped jerk." --you get the ITSA award today.

We can see what this marriage to Simona is going to become and if Tav didn't like that demanding bitchy DOG, Doris, I can't seem him tying the noose--er knot with Simona either! Unless of course, the writer relay that Utah Desert's so aptly described is unfortunately still the rule of
the day.

====
La Paloma: well said!

===
Suzanlynn: Put your beanie back on like I did and sensible questions like how Bazario knew who'd killed his bro wouldn't be nagging you! LOL!

Vivi in DC, Santa didn't know about her life after she left the pueblo. And it was important part of her life.
Alegria

Something that came up Friday that may turn out to be very important is the water rights that Maricruz either controls or thinks that she controls. Didn't she tell Octavio that she doesn't want Simona's livestock crossing her land to get to the river to drink?

For her to deny this access which has apparently been traditional in the community is not just un-neighborly and vengeful but borders on evil.

Carlos

Carlos- I picked on that water thing too. But then they got to snitching and seemed to forget a out that important topic. Maybe Simon's should hire Ester to find her some water. :)

That's smooching not snitching. Silly tablet.

RE: cattle crossing for water. Does the right of pubic domain apply in Mexico and/or if it does, is it only for the public in general. Can it apply to an individual's use of lands for ingress/ egress for a past 7 year period. Am unclear about the legality of this issue.

As i recall one of our contributors is an attorney.

@emeraldrose - yes, I'm an attorney. But, it's too early for me to get into a discussion of how specific Mexican laws may (or may not) come into play. If I do it too early, that might hint at what's coming in the next few episodes. Since no spoilers are allowed, I'll wait until the appropriate time to comment on certain legal issues.

One thing I forgot to say---yes I too think that Simona looks older after her makeover. The closeup shots of her last Friday proved it.
Tav on the other hand looks younger
handsome and dashing.

Barabara---yes, Maricruz did look hurt and confused, not sure of herself after her arguement with Tav at the rancho Friday night. I also felt a little sorry for her. Let's see how things go tonight.

Alegria---ITA with your comment at 4:36 AM

Vivi---Mari has already turned her hatred toward Simona just like Doris---yes, except that Doris won.
Maricruz is long gone from the island and the casino will be sold.
Well---Doris got half a victory, she didn't get Tav.

Vivi and Barbara---Thank you both for explaining the Ester Maricruz conversation, that was important. It looks like it didn't start out bad but by the finish---well, not to well. That's too bad.

Ester tells Mari that Tav is marrying a woman of his class. What?? Does she really belive that?
Mari is as rich as anyone in the area, is a large land owner and a successful business woman, but she's still an uneducated savage? I'm beginning to think that Oblivio isn't the only one with brain problems. It seems like the Narvaes and their relatives all have brain defects of one kind or another.

It's too bad that things didn't go well between Ester and Maricruz. I hope that they can iron out their differences and become friends and partners. With Maricruz building a school and Ester as teacher, it would be a great combination.
the gringo

If anyone wants to try to sort out Mexico's complex water rights, here's a power point someone did on the subject: http://bit.ly/1fuijoA

So Mirimar ended soon after Lucia's
death, too bad for it. CI has so many future possibilties. Gold/silver discovered at Realengo with a fight of the people for their village.---A range war over water rights [thanks Carlos, I didn't know that]--- Doris could suddenly appear to start up a three way fight for Oblivio---but best of all, Maricruz could become the pueblo goddess/hero with a school for the ninos, a church and a hospital. What has rich Simona,
the well off Narvaez or any of the other people of means ever done for their community. Maricruz
could have her name in the Tamaulipas history books if she goes through with her plans for the pueblo. Oh! and I almost forgot
there is still the boda with her first and only love, Octavio. He'll
get his brin cell working, he has to.

Vivi---I typed the address in the
search bar but it came up, not found.

LatinainMD--it will be interesting
to read your take on if Mari can cut Simona's cattle off from the water on her land.
the gringo

Gringo- Here's the long version of the url:

http://siteresources.worldbank.org/EXTWAT/Resources/4602122-1213366294492/5106220-1213804320899/10.2_Water_Use_Rights_Mexico.pdf

@Gringo - the only problem (a BIG problem) is that the second half of C.I. was written by monkey writers. So try not to get your hopes up too much.

Hmmm. Looks like Maricruz's ignorance about ranching, her solidarity with her friends at Realengo, outside interests in what lies beneath the ranch, and her desire for revenge could make for an unfortunate mix. I sure hope she has an accountant maybe kept on after her father's death.

Jarifa

LatinainMD-- Thanks for your response. I look forward to your comments on the water rights issue. Where I live water rights, and the selling of, are becoming a real issue. And we have a lot of water in the western part of the northwest.

This whole TN is giving me whiplash!!
Cece, awesome recap.
