PEAM #135-9/16/13: Leave Your Worries Behind, 'Cause Rain, Shine Won't Mind, We're Ridin' On The Groove Line, Tonight! Wooooo!
Hola PEAM Peeps. This was a kind of light episode and especially loved the little soft shoe, so hence the title, courtesy of HeatWave! I am also skipping the refried and starting with the new. I am subbing for Cheryl, who is visiting Venice and France, but she'll be back next week!
Chatita, and Alma are paying Chucho a bit of a visit at the hospital. Chucho wants Alma to go home and get some rest, she has hardly left his side since all this happened and Chatita is hurrying her along. So after many Ti Amo's and smoochies, Alma finally goes. Now Chucho and Chatita are alone and he tells her about wanting to propose to Alma and he wants it to be fantastic, any great ideas? Chatita doesn't get what he wants, ya know you get the ring, you propose and your done! No, no, he says something spectacular! They put their heads together. Chatita has some wild idea about a proposal she saw in a novela, leave it to Chatita! Chucho doesn't like the idea, it has something to do with water. Father Domingo wouldn't go for that! He warns Chatita to say nothing to Alma, this will be a big surprise. Hey Chucho, remember Chatita has trouble rememebering things, hmmmmm......Is it catching????
Xochi is with Mari and Susanna and it looks like it is makeover time. Xochi has the cape on, Dona Susana has the scissors and Mari has the blowdryer. Xochi is having thoughts about what the heck they are going to do to her. She has thoughts of being bald, curly hair, blonde hair and then a funky cut with front of the hair being longer than the back. Dona Susana swears she knows what she is doing, but alas, Xochi has made up her mind. No makeover from her besties. She is gonna do it her way. The ladies assure her they just want to help, but Xochi is still feeling she can't measure up to Discua, so poor Xochi goes. Xochi decides to handle this on her own. Ayi Carumba!
Ruh Roh! And double Ruh Roh, the nurse informs the Doc at the Manicomio that Marta is missing from her room, so there is a search on for the missing Marta! A while later, the nurse has searched all over the hospital now and can't find Marta! There is a moment of panic, they can't figure out how she got away, well, seems she was ducking into the kitchen for a sammy. She comes back into the room with it, and the Doc is okay with that, but she needs to let someone know where she is. She says she'll be good, not really, but you get my drift, and eats her Sammy. I have to say this is the most relaxed we have eva seen Marta!
In a hotel in Monterrey, there is a woman wanting a room and she sort of reminds me of Marta, don't Y'all think? Is it Marta? Read further and you'll see! That woman is now looking for a taxi to take her to the manicomio. The doorman gets her one.
Ferny is thinking of Discua, these memories just won't leave him alone, ya know, and right about this time, Discua comes by and slides a letter under the door of Ferny and Xochi's flat, Alejandra sees her and tells her to please leave Ferny alone, he is married. Discua just doesn't get it. She just can't let go. Xochi has come home and found that letter of Discua's and she thinks to herself that Discua must just love her some Ferny. Xochi calls to Ferny and Ferny is so surprised. Xochi has gotten a makeover, nicer clothes and the same Natasha "luke" except not as much makeup and no red lipstick. She looks fabulous and Ferny tells her so. As she is talking to Ferny, Xochi hides that note behind her back!
Alma and Pato are together at Alma's place. Alma is enjoying some nice red wine while Pato, surprise, is ironing her Avon uniform, imagine that! Alma thinks Chucho is up to something and Pato isn't paying attention to what she is doing and burns her hand on the iron!
The Doc has come in to examine Chucho and can't beleive how quickly he is healing. The Doc will discharge him soon, but reminds him he has to watch the stress and to take care of himself. Alma will make sure he does! Alma is kind of worried about Chucho going back to work at Orion, cause she thinks that Augusta has a thingy for Chucho!
Val and Domi are in the kitchen and Domi is showing Val how to set a mousetrap and how it works. Val is really interested in how that works. Val grins like the Cheshire Cat!
Royer is in bed, and Moronica keeps slaming the door and doing beatbox beats on the door so he can't sleep. Poor baby, NOT!!!!! She is soooo petty!
Xochi goes to work, and Jess is astounded at how good she looks. She is fab and Jess likes her new "luke", Xochi starts to tell Jess about the note that Discua left, when Pato comes in, and admires Xochi's "luke" too! Xochi explains about the note that Discua left, how she just can't measure up to Discua and Pato disagrees. She tells Xochi she will win Ferny little by little and besides if Discua should show her face at Avon, no way in hell will they allow her to see Ferny, All for one and one for all.
Val and Sanson are in the hallway by Royer's room, and as he is coming out, she holds a mouse up, he freaks and slams his hand in the door. He is screaming like a girl! Revenge is afoot again!
Oh, looky here, if it isn't Discua come to pay a little visit at Avon, and we all know who she has come to see, she has added Stalker to her resume! Anyhoo, the security guards are practically slobbering all over her, until Pato sees her. Discua comes to Pato's desk asking for Ferny. Pato tells her he isn't in. Discua says his car is in the garage. Pato blocks Discua from going down the hallway and Jess comes to help her. Now Dona Susanna and Mari join that fray in the hallway, it almost looks like a choreographed dance the way they are swaying back and forth to stop Discua from getting anywhere near Ferny. So Discua starts yelling for Ferny, alot, and Ferny hears her going on and on about the light and the love of her life is him, well Cantu and Royer come out of Royer's office and prevent Ferny from going out there. So Royer and Cantu, holding hands, go out and tell Bisquet to get lost, don't eva come back, she's forbidden on Avon grounds and Royer tells the security guards to get her OUT. Well, what ensues is a soft dance shuffle back and forth. Bisquet looks like she'll leave, but nopis, tries to get past everyone but big FAIL. Out she is escorted! Before she left though, she blamed Royer for everything. Xochi heard the commotion too and sees Ferny crying as this is going on. Xochi remembers her entire relationship with Ferny. She runs off. After Discua is escorted out the secretaries do the Happy Dance!
Cyn and Moronica talk and Moronica is thinking maybe Royer is fed up with her, ya think? And now she wants to meet Nick Donovan. Seems he is in Mexico! Oh, joy!
Royer and Cantu are in Royer's office and Royer shows his messed up finger to Cantu. It is all that brat's fault! He is fed up with Moronica and Val!
It looks like Augusta didn't wait long for Chucho to recover, she brought a boatload of work with her and to top it off, Chucho is working from his hospital bed while Augusta has draped herself all over Chucho! Alma walks in and is highly pithed! She reminds Augusta that Chucho has just recovered from a serious illness and to go away. Augusta accuses Alma of trying to be a Nanny to Chucho. Chucho stops working and Augusta goes. Alma follows. She gives Augusta hell for bringing all this work to the hospital and Augusta also tells her that she has a little crush on Chucho, well not that, but she is likin' him. Alma tells her Chucho is her guy y punto, Augusta says oh, yeah for now. Alma blames Augusto and Augusta for causing this health crisis of Chucho's. Augusta tries to tell Alma that Chucho and Augusta will be spending lots of time working together, just like Alma and Chucho used to do! Alma is pithed and goes off, as Augusta thinks she is so in there! Dream on there Augusta!
Elias has come to visit Chucho and gets him to promise he will abide by the law as far as Val goes to avoid anymore trouble. Chucho promises and Alma has come back. They ask Elias how it is going with Pato. They are good and Alma is mad at Augusta, but jaureva, Alma kisses Chucho bye bye, cause she needs a word with Elias and they go. Chucho is wondering what the heck they are up to! Alma comes back and Chucho wants to know why Alma is being so mysterious. Oh, it's nothing, smoochies, giggles and one big "hawt kiss"!
The mystery woman is now in the cab with Saturnino, the only cab driver in Monterrey! She is going to the Manicomio it seems. She has spent alot of time in Africa recently, mainly the Republic of Congo, and she is talking so fast I only got half of what she said to Saturnino!
It's lunchtime at Avon and the secretaries, that would be Dona Susanna, Jess, Mari and Pato are having a lunch served by Ivonne, who is now a helper or let's call her a sou chef,and Don Gil. It looks appetizing, I must say! The secretaries are talking about the Discua debacle, but they would do it all over again for their bestie Xochi. She comes and joins them, but is very downtrodden, poor thing! She tells her friends, she fears she will never live up to the mighty Discua and she thinks she has lost Ferny foreva! Xochi cries and says it so effected her when Discua showed up at Avon. Xochi says that Discua was Ferny's first love, and that Xochi can't compete with that, and she cries and runs off. Her friends are really worried about her.
The mystery woman has come to the Manicomio and the nurse at the desk looks like she has seen a ghost. The woman laughs and says no, she isn't Marta, but Marcia Perez, Marta's sister. She tells the nurse she has come all the way from Africa. Meanwhile Marta is in her room and the Doc comes in and says she has a visitor. It's Marcia her twin sister. Now we know who this mystery woman is. The Doc goes and there is a huge hug between the sisters and Marta never wants Marcia to abandon her. Marcia swears she won't ever do that!
Moronica has come to some hotel room, and before she knocks on the door sets her phone on record (Thanks Vivi) and asks for Nick Donovan, the whole room is filled with the cigar smoke, and the guy wants to know who she is? She is a friend of Royer's of course. She is let into the room, I'm surprised she isn't choking from the smoke, as Nick Donovan eyes her up and down.
Alma has brought Chucho to her house after the hospital discharged him. He is happy to be there and Alma reminds him he will be doing lots of resting. There is party stuff and a welcome home sign and here comes all the people that Chucho is close to, Chatita, Elias and big surprise, Val and also Rai. They are so happy he is out of the hospital. Now we know what Elias and Alma were cooking up! One big huge group hug! End of epi!

Thanks Mads! I think you pretty much got it all. The only thing I would add is that Vero put her phone on record before she went into Nick's room. She's hoping to get good blackmail material.
I like that Pati has now been accepted into the secretaries club. She's a nice feisty addition.
I'm not sure what's the solution is to the Fer Xochi Discua problem. Now that he knows Discua always loved him and wasn't a fraud, it's normal that he would feel compassion for her and some lingering feelings. But that doesn't mean he doesn't love Xochi and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. I hope this doesn't go on for too much longer.

Oooh, thanks Mads! I'm glad you got a decent episode to work with. So glad the Chucho hospital subplot is done, too. (Only to be replaced by a long-lost twin subplot... ugh.)
When I saw Martha's twin sister, the first thing I thought of was all those poor souls who were already already having trouble telling Martha and Discua apart. Fortunately, with the braid across the forehead we can easily tell the twins apart (though I have to give credit to the actress for really playing her twin TOTALLY different... if annoying). Ick, that braid. Of all the recycled props I hoped never to see again... and yeah, it's not hard to see where this subplot is going. Feh.
Paty is my HERO for finally denying someone entrance to the Avon offices. I wish Yvonne would have done that ages ago, starting with Vero. Discua and Fernando really need and deserve a chance to bring closure to their relationship - but not on company time! PLEASE!!
Funny about the mousetrap. Valentina took that in a different direction than I was expecting - I thought she'd rig the trap to spring on Rogue's hand - but since he slammed the door on his hand anyway, it's all good. :-)

Poor Chucho can never catch a break. Now he's got Disgusta sliming all over him, and still forcing him to work!
I do not approve of Domi setting mousetraps in a household that includes a child and a dog, but fortunately, Val and Sanson are the smartest ones there. I really enjoy how Rogue and Cantu spend all their time trying to plot against a child, and all their schemes fail. Maybe we'll get lucky and Venomica will get snapped in the mousetrap.
I liked Chucho's and Chatita's discussion about how to propose. I'm with Chatita: just ask her! But he wouldn't be Our Hero if he didn't make everything way more complicated than it needs to be.
Paticakes is a great addition to Avon. I loved their celebration dance after they got Discua booted.

Has anyone been watching Mira Quien Baila? I haven't but, I have been meaning to look in on it to see how Pati (PEAM), Enzo (Familia), and Kendra (AV) are doing. And Discua (PEAM) is also making appearances as a performer/judge(?) on the show.
Pati's dancing last night reminded me the actress, Maria Elisa Camargo, would be on the show and I wondered how she's doing. I looked her up, and she's actually from Ecuador (of Colombian parents), and was in a few Ecuadorian and Colombian tns, before moving to Mexico and taking on multiple Mexican fresa roles. And then I saw that one of her earlier Colombian tns is being shown in the day on Mundofox right now. She sings the theme song, and a bunch of other songs in the tn. I was flipping channels Sunday night and happened to catch Enzo's (Pablo's) routine. He's not bad! Of course, we already knew that, from watching Enzo's efforts at seducing Chela. I think he used some of the same moves on MQB. The shirtlessness, for sure. I'll have to check out our Paticakes.

I missed MQB this past Sunday cause I watched Foyle's War. I am a huge fan. I will be checking it out though. Darn I missed the shirtless dance of Pablo. I do remember the shirtless dancing with Chela, lol.
I too am not the fan of the twin story, but I guess they had to do something to extend this and the hospital line wore itself out.
I too think that Bisquit and Ferny need some closure, but if Bisquit thinks she can get Ferny back is the problem I have. Xochi is so very sweet and I don't want to see her hurt. Xochi has come a very long way from the way she was before when this TN started.
Maybe this Nick Donovan/Moronica/Royer story line will be the end of them. I think Delia is watching Royer closely and I think eventually he will be caught, let's hope that Moronica ends up in the same net with him.

Julia- Yes. I watch it On Demand. I like the black humor. It's a cute show. And although they are playing maids, they are not stereotypical, and it has given a bunch of Latina actresses starring roles in a show. Jaime Camil made a guest a appearance as one of their ex-husbands many episodes back.
Julia, I am another one watching Devious Maids and have enjoyed it. I like the different point of view. Also, Susan Lucci has been hilarious.

I watched MQB Sunday. Can't tell if ME is a good dancer, because I thought the choreography was horrible for her dance.

I'm glad someone else thinks Discua and Marta look alike -- in fact, Marcia looks more like Discua with the headband and bohemian dress. I know this isn't going to be a subplot, but really my attention is fading about everything else at this point.

Daniela, I don't think they look at all alike, but I know Pablo has mentioned the resemblance before too. So you're in good company.
Oddly enough, I thought Marcia looked a little like Vero in her posture and mannerisms.
Oddly enough, I thought Marcia looked a little like Vero in her posture and mannerisms.
Amazing that they wouldn't let Discua into the office, when she wore the Avon colors AND twenty pounds of their products! She probably thought she'd blend right in and go unnoticed.
I like that Pati didn't feel the need to go the super-sexy route with her uniform. Her skirt is shortish, but not like Jess's, and her shirt is actually fairly conservative, not like what Ivonne wears. Speaking of Ivonne, her cook uniform is a little silly. So much bare skin to get spattered with hot droplets! But maybe she just pours drinks and pipes the little carrots onto the cake.

Everything about Ivonne is silly, I think. I wonder what would happen if someone tried to serve a carrot cake without the little carrots. Or if they piped beets or green beans instead.
Whatever. I'm just grateful that Paty has taken it upon herself to apply some discretion in handing out the visitor passes. (At least ask visitors if they have an appointment, and ask employees if they are expecting a visitor and have time to meet with them.)

Thank you, Madelaine, for an enjoyable recap. True, it was a light episode. It will be interesting to see how the Ferny- Xochy -Discua triangle, couples up.
So I was at the store this evening and they had a cake that was decorated like a carrot cake except the "carrots" were red. I thought maybe they were chili peppers, like this was some sort of chili cake (maybe a chocolate cake with chilis, it could happen) but it turned out to be red velvet cake. I don't know what the red things were supposed to be. Does velvet have leafy green stalks like a carrot??
